Version 1.0.4 Patch Notes

The wait for milestones is over. We added a milestone after each boss or mini-boss in the survival mode. The milestones are unique to each difficulty. Besides this, in the survival mode your rank is now determined by the health lost in that level. Changes since 1.0.3

  • Added milestones to the survival mode; Players are now able to start the survival-mode from any of their reached milestones.
  • Changed the way your health percentage is calculated in the survival mode; This allows for S-rank assignments even when you did take damage in an earlier level.

  • Added area specific loading-screens with a little more background story about the bosses.

What we're working on

First of all, thanks for playing Reign of Bullets! We've seen a lot of positive feedback on our game and that makes us both proud and happy. But ofcourse, the game isn't perfect and we've also seen that there's still things to work on. Since the next patch is coming out a little later then expected, here's a few words on our plans on improving the game. Coming patch:

  • Performance! Especially on the survival mode and with a few very performance heavy weapons, the game can slow down to an unplayable state. It is our main focus to fix this.
  • Balancing: There are a few weapons (looking at you drone swarmer) that just deal too much damage with the right stats. Besides nerfing some overpowered weapons, most balancing boils down to less projectiles that deal more damage. This also to improve performance and visibility on the screen.
  • Bugfixing: There are still some serious bugs that we are fixing, next to a few smaller bugs.
Next patch Next thing after performance is working on the survival mode and making it a bit more player friendly. Changes we have planned here:
  • No more restarting from level 41! We're implementing milestones each 'x' levels.
  • Balancing hp increase per level and scrap gained per level.
  • [strike]Better rewards from playing at a higher difficulty level: Besided having a higher chance on rare/epic loot, playing on a higher difficulty also increases the level of items that you find in a level.[/strike] This is already adressed in v1.0.2 for the top 3 difficulty levels.
We hope you like the planned changes, please let us know what else you would like to see on the discussion board!

Reign of Bullets updated to version 0.9.0

We're nearing release so version number has increased dramatically! We've been reading the forums and playtested some more (and more, and more). The result is Reign of Bullets version 0.9.0. First a short summary of what we changed, full patch notes can be read further down this post.

In short

Main focus of this version was adding more sound effects. A lot of sound effects have been added/changed/tweaked but there are still some sound effects that still have to be implemented. The acid spitter has gotten a big makeover, visually and gameplay wise. It now has a very low firerate, but the damage is increased a lot. This makes the lobbing mechanic a bit more interesting since it is harder to hit an enemy, but if you hit, it will do a lot of damage. The autogun damage has a big effect on the difficulty in the earlier levels. In the previous version it felt like the autogun would obliterate everything in the first few levels, even on the higher difficulties. That's why we lowered the standard damage of the autogun, but increased the effect of an upgrade. Hopefully this will balance out the difficulty in earlier levels. We have also been working on a lot of visual changes, both ingame and in the UI. For example we have added special explosions to all the mini bosses. Ofcourse we've also been working on a lot of bugfixes and performance issues that surfaced on the forums and during our own play sessions.

Full change list since 0.6.9

Changes
  • Reworked the acid spitter, visually and gameplay wise.
  • Added subtitles to the intro animation to give some clarfication about the background story.
  • Added a lot of soundeffects, not all soundeffects are final.
  • Added shadow to floating combat text for better readibility.
  • Desert boss sand particles now have better visibility.
  • Desert boss projectiles have a graphical update.
  • Added hints to the level select screen (you can change area with controller bumper buttons).
  • Level select screen has a small graphical rework.
  • Added uncommon, rare and epic variations of the weapon icons.
  • Added feedback to the grass area first miniboss before it fires its big cannon.
  • Minibosses now have their own unique explosions when they are defeated.
  • Decreased the size of the loot pickup floating combat text.
  • Recreated mouse button hints in hangar (you can use shift to quick-sell!)
  • Added an error message when you want to equip a weapon while you have no available weapon slots.
  • Outro cinematic now has it's own music!
  • Animated the mechstache enemies.
  • Added smoke trails to a few more enemies.
  • Enemy rifle projectiles have been graphically updated.
  • Tweaked flak cannon visually and performance wise. Now your whole screen shouldn't be completely filled with smoke when you have a few upgraded flak cannons.
  • Visually changed the icon for equipped weapons in the hangar.
  • Changed the names of a few epic weapons.
  • Locked upgrades have a new graphic.
  • Added variations of the train flamethrowers and laser wall enemies.

  • Fixed some z-depth issues in the minibosses in the grass area.
  • Dust from the grass area miniboss is now not visible until it actually enters the screen.
  • Fixed a bug where quickly equipping 2 weapons shortly after eachother would cause errors.
  • It is no longer possible to return to the hangar in level select screen while a level is chosen.
  • Fixed an issue where some enemies would magically disappear when shooting at them.
  • Fixed a bug where you could no longer press certain buttons after quickly salvaging some mods.
