Just a small little update :)
- Fix for a crash that happens when playing story mode after playing PVP
- Fix for crash when fighting boss in final story mode level This got introduced with the 8-way throwing update.
With diagonal throwing you can now throw in 8 directions (instead of just 4)! In addition, litter that has been sitting on the ground for too long (about 8 seconds) will get picked up by a little helper bot and brought to you in matches. This makes it easier to stay in the game and have fun, while not affecting high-level play very much. Below is the detailed list of updates:
- Fixed a rare bug when items get destroyed - Removed the confusing and useless "Littered" stat
Updated server endpoint to fix domain name going down yesterday. Online play should be available again!
Lots of little tweaks and fixes after the story mode update.
Hello, generous friends. It's been a good while since there's been an update, and that's because I've been working on getting everything ready for this huge update, available now! There's so much in this update, we've got a new character, a new map, a bunch of single player modes like Balloon Burst, Survival Mode and Elimination Challenge, plus a whole heckin' Story Mode. In addition, there are new Accessories to get, and tons of fixes, tweaks and improvements. I'm really excited for you all to check out the new content, I really hope you enjoy it. And definitely check out the upcoming Friendship Games Festival that Shell Out is going to be in, which starts this Monday, the 13th of February. Here are the details from the event host: Friendship Games Week 2023 is back with a celebration of couch co-op, local multiplayer, and split-screen gaming! In the name of friendship, love, and family bonds you are yet again summoned to plug the game controllers in, find a good seat, and play video games together! We collected and curated a merry bunch of indie titles for PC that can be played by 2 or more players on the same machine. Make sure to take your time while browsing the gallery for bestsellers, trendsetters, hidden gems, demos, upcoming games, and newfound niches! Friendship Games Week is organized by Frogsong Studios. When: February 13-19, 2023 Check it out during the event at: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/FriendshipGamesWeek2023 And, here's the complete list of new stuff, updates and fixes for those who love the details:
This update brings a new mode to the game: Team Mode!
Turn it on in the lobby settings and team up with friends, frenemies, bots, online and offline!
Team Mode allows for new strategies and a different gameplay experience. Only one player on your team has to win for the whole team to win! So either go for emptying out your reserves, or block your teammates from getting items to take your team to victory!
In addition, this update includes some new screen filters, which can be changed in the game settings. Check them out!
"Sock Art"
"Mosaic Glow"
And the already available "Lottes CRT"
Other Updates:
Added achievements into the game! Check them out on the Steam Achievements list on the store page ^_^
I've been messing around with a lot of CRT stuff, been appreciating the enhancements that playing pixel-art games on an old tube television offers, and this got me inspired to port Lotte's public domain CRT shader to my game's engine. This option is now available in the Settings section of the game. Take a look at the results! (Original non-shader version follows each for comparison)

I really like how it enhances the details in the art and blends the colors nicely. I especially like how it really brings out the background in the stars in the first picture.
I hope you enjoy this new little enhancement! Stay safe, happy, healthy and positive out there!

The demo has now been updated to keep up with the full version, albeit a demo of the full version of course :) Have fun! -Mana
I'm very happy to announce that Shell Out Showdown is fully released on Steam today! Early Access is done, thanks so much to everyone who helped me along the way and provided fun times and great feedback. I'm very proud of how this game has come together and am excited for it to be available in full. To celebrate the release of this game, a 10% discount will be running on Steam for a whole week, from April 4th through April 10th. Compared to the Early Access version, this release has more maps, custom room options, lobby emotes/chat, improved performance, offline local play, Steam Cloud Saves, remastered music, and lots of tweaks, fixes and improvements to the play experience. In short: It's super fun! In addition, the game has been translated to Japanese! With the help of Active Gaming Media, the translation has been completed and the press release for Japan is going out now! I'm excited to launch this game in Japan and for everyone to be able to play together online. It was a lot of fun learning a little bit about the truly amazing language the Japanese have and tackling the task of getting it into the game. If you speak and/or read Japanese, you can set the game language from the main menu in-game, or from the game's language settings in Steam. So check out the full release on Steam now, and have fun tossing food at your friends in this give-to-win reverse battle-royale! -Mana alphie
I am quietly making this update in preparation for the full release in April. So if you see this, lucky you and thanks for caring ^_^
I'm super excited to share this MEGA update with y'all! Sacramento Gamers Expo went really well and I got tons of great feedback and was inspired with lost of new ideas on how to improve the gameplay experience, and I'm releasing a big set of those changes today steamhappy In addition to now being able to play locally with up to 4 players (no need to be connected to the internet anymore!), this update includes:
Hello, generous humans! I've got a big update for you, available now, which adds support for playing with up to 4 players on the same computer! You and 3 friends can all play together online, either in a private lobby or the public one. That's right, everyone can play online from just one computer! In addition, the game will now support Steam Remote Play Together, so you can share the fun with anyone you like, near or far! Y'all asked for it, and I'm happy to be able to make this happen for y'all. This is a huge update and I think it will add a lot of value to your purchase of the game. You can play with others either using up to 4 controllers, or you can use the keyboard for player 1 and up to 3 controllers for the other players. In addition to that, I've also made a lot of improvements to the server, improved performance of the game, fixed some bugs, made some small tweaks to the camera movement, and updated the music with some new lines and more even volume. You can see the detailed list of changes at the bottom. As usual, I am happy to hear any feedback you have on how the game is progressing and anything you'd like to see. Message me on socials or reply to this or any post, or in the forums. If you are going to be in the Sacramento, CA area during Dec 18-19, I'll be at the Sac Gamers Expo demoing Shell Out Showdown in person. Stop by and say hi, I'd love to chat with you and play a few rounds! Thanks so much for all the support and I sincerely hope you enjoy this update. ^_^ Here are the detailed updates for this release:

I'm super excited to announce that Shell Out Showdown is now officially available in Early Access on Steam! I've been working super hard to get the game to a release-ready state and I'm proud to be able to release the game today. Compared to the demo, the release has a bunch of new content. It has 4 levels, some new level mechanics, 39+ character customizations, and several new music tracks. I sincerely hope that you enjoy the new content, and I will be continuing to add content to the game during the Early Access period. The game will be in Early Access for at least a few months, perhaps more, and I'll be adding content during that time. The game's price is discounted during the Early Access period, after which it will go up. I greatly appreciate your support during Early Access, it means a lot to me that you would buy the game in its earlier stages and it really does make a huge difference in my life. Thanks to everyone who helped me get to this point, I greatly appreciate all the love and support I've received. I hope you enjoy the game and feel that your purchase is worth it! I try hard to make quality games full of fun gameplay and good content. Thanks again for the support, -Mana
Hey y'all! In an effort to support players with older or lower powered computers, I have added a framerate adjustment option to the "Options" section of the game. You can choose between a few different render framerates to maximize the performance of the game on your machine! I hope that this helps and makes the game playable for people on lower powered machines. Please do let me know if there are any additional performance issues or problems that you experience, as I want to make my games as accessible as I can. Also, a big thanks to everyone who stopped by the Next Fest streams. I really appreciate all the support and am looking forward to the early access release, which will have new shop items, new maps, and more. I hope you enjoy the demo until then! -Mana
I'm very excited to announce that the playable demo for Shell Out Showdown is available now on Steam! I've been working on this game over the last 9 months as a part of the Bay Area Dev (B.A.D.) Collective's "Molasses Jam" which had the theme "turn a violent genre non-violent", and I'm stoked to have y'all play it. To celebrate the launch of the demo, I will be hosting play sessions of the game on my Twitch stream, every Monday and Wednesday at 6pm Pacific time. Come join the stream and play the game with me and other friends! I will also be demoing the game as a part of Steam's Next Fest in June, so I hope to see you there as well! Any feedback you have on the game, positive or constructive, is greatly appreciated. I will continue to develop and improve this game, as well as add more content such as levels, characters and customizations, and I want to involve you in that process (if you feel so inclined). After Next Fest, I will release the game in early access, and the demo will be taken down. I would be very grateful for you all to be a part of this game in its early stages and I hope you enjoy what the game has to offer! -Mana
