The year is 1897. The 20th century looms on the horizon. An age of science and reason has begun casting out the old ways across Europe, but superstition and tradition hold strong in the West of Ireland. Fear of the supernatural is still common.
Detective Declan Ward is summoned anonymously to Blake Manor. People are disappearing in the old hotel but no one is talking. Ward must explore the building and try to remain incognito, look for clues, interview the staff and guests to find out what secrets they’re hiding. He must try to reach the forbidden areas of the hotel and unearth the ancient secrets buried deep below it.
Beware of the spirits lurking in the halls. Some are friendly and will help you, others are malignant and deadly. Each one is a victim of Blake Manor's dark history.

Cast Spotlight - Declan Ward

Hello detectives, \n\nThe Sance of Blake Manor is full of many interesting and mysterious characters, and we wanted to tell you a little more about some of them. \n\nOur next spotlight is Detective Declan Ward, brought to life by James Farrelly. \n\nGame Description Image\n\nAbout Declan Ward \n\nDetective Declan Ward set off to Blake Manor at the request of a mysterious stranger to investigate the disappearance of young socialite Evelyn Deane. Pushing aside issues from his past with Miss Deanes father and the death of his brother Eamonn, Declan arrives ready to solve the many mysteries that await him. \n\nDuring his time at Blake Manor it becomes clear to Declan that not only is there much more at play than he initially realised but that his brothers death has affected him more than he knows. \n\nWe wanted our protagonist to be out of place at the event, very out of his comfort zone. With the event taking place in the west coast, we decided to have him be from Dublin. Since the event was so deeply entrenched in various kinds of spiritual beliefs, it made sense for him to be a devout Catholic. Finally, we settled on a working-class background for him so he would be at odds with the upper echelons of society that had gathered there. \n\nWe wanted him to also be struggling with grief, himself, so he could empathise with our cast and their various troubles, as well as hide a few of his own. To that end it was essential that he should not be a police officer otherwise he would be dutybound to report many of the side stories, itself an act of judgement. Having him be a firefighter worked as an alternative path to establish a sense of duty and community in him, part of which drove him on. That also let us tie him in with the tenement fires of that time, which served as a way to again highlight some of the class struggles of that time (a downside to having the game set in the manor was that you see nothing really of the outside world at that time) as well as link him to Deanes father, which created this throughline of why am I doing this. \n\nOn a side note, we did toy with allowing the player to decide Deanes fate at the end, based on what you had learned and how you felt about her and her family but that didn\'t feel right. Again, we also toyed with choosing to report others to the authorities which also felt off. \n\nAbout James Farrelly \n \nDuring the auditions we listened to a lot of great actors but many of them were playing the role with quite a tough, almost gangster, read. We didnt feel those performances worked in the moments that Ward is scared, or questioning his fate, or listening to people confess their darkest secrets with gentle compassion. James performance felt like he could take us on Wards complicated journey through the manor. \n\nJames Farrelly is a Dublin/Wexford based actor and comedian who really encapsulated everything we wanted Ward to be. \n\nCan Declan solve this case and find peace about what happened to Eamonn? \n\nThe Sance of Blake Manor is OUT NOW. \n\nhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/1395520/The_Sance_of_Blake_Manor/

Hello detectives, \n\nThe Sance of Blake Manor is full of many interesting and mysterious characters, and we wanted to tell you a little more about some of them. \n\nOur next spotlight is Olivia DArcy brought to life by Sally Beaumont. \n\nGame Description Image\n\nAbout Olivia DArcy \n\nMiss DArcy is an English fiction writer, specialising in gothic horror romances. She has a fierce yet playful personality that makes her difficult to read on occasion. Her motives for being at the Grand Sance could be two-fold on the one hand it would be wonderful research for an upcoming novel or perhaps it pertains to the tan line around her ring finger where a ring used to be... \n\nDevelopment History \n\nWe pitched the game to Raw Fury with a demo. That demo contained variants of DArcy, Dupr, Skerritt, Joyce, and Varley through the gameplay, mystery, and overall gameplay structure was very different back then. These cast and their stories evolved as we went into full production but their essences were there. The original demo was fully voiced which was only feasible because of the small scope of the demo and the kindness of the actors involved. Missus Joyces VA (Meabh de Brun) returned to play both Saoirse and Fiadh Callaghan in the final game. We tried to bring back the male VAs Lorcan Mac Muiris, Stephen Lynch, Aidan Larkin and Gary Scales but we were unable to reach them or make the schedule work. Missus DArcys VA, Sally, returned, bringing our acidic novelist to light. \n \nSally Beaumont is an English actress and voice actor known for her roles in Old Skies, Harold Halibut and Loco Motive among many others. With over 10 years experience in voicing video games and over 70+ roles Sally was the perfect fit for the mysterious and playful Olivia DArcy \n\nLike everyone at Blake Manor, there is much more to Miss DArcy than might be obvious at first glance. Cast Spotlight Domhnall Finn

Hello detectives, \n\nThe Sance of Blake Manor is full of many interesting and mysterious characters, and we wanted to tell you a little more about some of them. \n\nWe decided to start with the druid, Domhnall Finn, brought to life by the talented voice actor Thomas Collins. \n\nGame Description Image\n\n Finn is a gruff but jolly character you encounter on your first morning at Blake Manor. It is easy to tell from his clothing that he is a Druid, tasked by his ancestors to protect the land and this duty is what leads him to be at Blake Manor ahead of the Grand Sance. \n\nDruids are the closest thing the Pagan faith has to priests. They are lorekeepers, storytellers, and trained healers. In mythology they are often believed to have magical abilities such as dominion over the elements and seeing the future. \n\nAs somebody outside of the traditional social caste of the time, Finn was freer to comment on things and provided one of the outsider views of the event, but in his case, an outsider from the same country and region. \n\nAnother cool aspect of the character is that he is an Irish Traveller, an ethnicity in Ireland. They are a very spiritual nomadic people, which fitted Finn well. They have their own language, Gammon, which we peppered through Finns dialogue, too. \n\nWe worked with Oein DeBhairduin, the Inclusive Histories Curator of Traveller Culture with the National Museum of Ireland, and a Traveller himself, to ensure he, his people and their language were accurately and respectfully presented in the game. \n\nAs best we can tell, he is also the first Irish Traveller in a video game. This also means that Thomas Collins is the first authentic Irish Traveller voice to be heard in a video game. \n\nThomas Collins is an Actor based In Dublin. He first started acting at the age of 14 when he joined Roundabout Youth Theatre. There, he played roles in youth theatre plays and workshopped with some of the best in the Irish Acting Industry. During the Dublin Fringe Festivals, he played many roles in various plays that were also nominated for the spirit of the Fringe award. \n\nAs with all who find themselves at Blake Manor, Finns fate rests in your hands. The Curse of The Sance of Blake Manor

Hello detectives, \n\nThe Sance of Blake Manor is out now, and we have been so excited to see how much you have all been enjoying the game. \n\nToday, we wanted to tell you all about THE CURSE- the strange occurrences that bled from the game into the real world and nearly killed us along the way... \n\nAs with any game there were development setbacks and hiccups, but The Curse goes well beyond that... \n\nIt could be said that this might have been a curse of our own making as someone thought it was a good idea to meet for a team sleepover in a haunted house in Dundalk... Of course were not pointing fingers. \n\nTheres been the usual spate of inconvenient illnesses throughout the entire development process, merges that wiped a bunch of pushes, the times that Gitlab space was totally full coming up to launch. \n\nThere was the disaster with the voice overs, or should we say disasters: voice ID files were overwritten and half a day was lost to repair broken conversations in a game with over 100,000 words. Not to mention the issue with the VO mastering, that meant very last minute, very unexpected extra hours to get every one ready for launch. \n\nThen there was Unity. Pushing a big update to Unity Version Control caused a number of issues for 2-3 days and then a day to actually switch over to the new version. Add into the mix the security update that required the demo to be taken down and repaired that caused more behind the scenes problems. \n\nNo, all that is par for the course with game dev. The real toll the curse took was on everybodys health and homes random stuff breaking, cars failing, and proper illneses - organ failures, appendicitis, feelings lost in one side of the body, stroke symptoms, and even gasp a poorly timed baby! (okay, the baby is lovely, but the timing was definitely cursed. Same due date as the game... Too very different launches, that). \n\nMisfortune was not limited to those working directly on the game, oh no. When friends of friends offered to help their family ended up in an accident. Another offered help and lost their job later that day. Hello detectives, With Samhain approaching, the veil is thinning between our land and the lands of the Otherworld. We thought this would be a propitious time to share some traditions and stories with you.

The Silent Dinner

The silent dinner, known as Dumb Supper is a meal eaten in total silence to honour and commune with the dead. The silence creates an atmosphere of respect and calm, allowing for a connection with the spirit world. \n\nEmpty places are set for invited spirits or ancestors to join. These are often draped in cloth with candles or belongings of the deceased. Traditionally autumn harvest foods are served or particular favourite of departed loved ones. \n\nThe meal itself is a fortune telling event with colcannon made from curly kale and bairn breac lying host to small items and coins to signify the fortunes of the finder in the coming year. \n\nAt the end of the meal, messages written on notes may be burned in a candle flame to send them to the other side. The uneaten food from the spirit plate is often placed outside as an offering to the spirits or nature spirits.

The Pca

Known to be a mischievous and often terrifying spirit, the Pca is a shapeshifting spirit from Celtic mythology. \n\nAlthough often known as a trickster it is said that the Pca will steal away children. During the festival of Samhain children are dressed in costumes and masks that hide their true faces and natures, confusing the spirit and protecting them from being taken away. \n\n

We've just announced The Sance of Blake Manor at The Mix with a brand new trailer, along with a full store revamp, updated screenshots, name change....and a publisher. On St Patrick's Day, no less!

The Sance of Blake Manor is a supernatural detective mystery, set in 1897 Ireland, where you investigate the disappearance of Evelyn Deane in a remote hotel full of secrets and other-worldly occurrences.

As Detective Declan Ward, youll interview and interrogate an eclectic group of suspects to learn more about their motivations and unearth any clues they may be hiding.

While building a case, you'll get to record the details in Declans journal, then use your findings to uncover the truth about Blake Manor, its residents, and the mysterious sance that has brought these unusual guests together.
