Update 1.1.7 now available!

Were less than two weeks before christmas this year and as we stumbled upon a few bugs in Elemental War 2 we decided to release another patch as a little christmas gift for you. The update makes it easier to find the earth piles for the treasure chest on Witch Forest map. They sometimes were really hard to find and I hope its at least a little easier now. Then there is also performance bug where the grass got rendered twice (on all platforms except Switch). Thats also fixed now. The remaining bugs affect the barricades (the memory allocated for their material didnt get freed anymore until going back to the main menu or restarting the game), the scarab quest didnt work properly in coop and the summons of the demon lords ability did use the wrong HP values. Update 1.1.4 with official Steam Deck support

Last year we started working on this new update to finally add official Steam Deck support. While that wasnt too hard (it basically worked fine on Steam Deck already, but we optimized a few things for usability there) we decided to wait with release of the new update until the Switch port was done. That way we were able to integrate the performance optimizations (as far as possible, some fixes were more invasive and are only relevant on Switch anyway) into all other platforms as well. Now its time to launch the update, even a few weeks before the Switch version will launch. You can find the full changelog below as usual. Update 1.1.3

During the last October weekend I was at Polaris in Hamburg and there I presented Elemental War 2. Of course that way I got a lot more direct feedback than from all the other players that might find problems, but never report them. So update 1.1.3 is mostly feedback from the convention. Not every feedback is possible to integrate easily and so some things will not be integrated into EW2 anymore, but we will keep them in mind for our future games. There are few convenience features like 1, 2, 3 on keyboard being assigned for the speed levels now and that you can zoom out even further now to get a better overview. The remaining stuff are mostly bugfixes for issues of any kind, bigger bugs so you cant complete quests under certain circumstances and smaller stuff like some tooltips being cut off in long languages like German. Update 1.1.0

Its time for our big game mode update for Elemental War 2. It took a while due to some cert issues (as usual), but now were fine and here we go. The two big features of the new update are the endless mode and the weekly challenges. The endless mode is the same game as the normal mode until wave 80. But instead of ending there another elemental crystal will spawn. That way you can continue playing until you have no lives left and get new elements and items until you reach that point. The weekly challenges are exactly what the name says: they change every week and are real challenges. You will get a specific game configuration and have a week to improve your score there to improve your overall challenge ranking. The game configuration contains obvious things like the map, game mode and difficulty, but also things you usually cant influence, like your start lives, the start wave, whether the game can be paused or not and more. Every week will be a little different, so check it out. CyberTD: Futuristic tower defense in the Triverse

Its finally time to announce our new tower defense CyberTD, a mix of tower defense, roguelite and deckbuilding taking place in our cyberspace setting now called Triverse. Working on it since April this year were finally ready to announce our new game, CyberTD! Its a tower defense game, mostly turn-based, roguelite with deckbuilding and inspired by Taur, Core Defense and Slay the Spire. You have one tower to defend the cyber core against viruses. Each wave you can select an upgrade to enhance your tower and its customizable loadout of weapons and active abilities to strengthen your defense and explore different combinations. Play it alone, in local or online multiplayer both in coop and a versus mode or on Twitch with or against your chat! You can already wishlist the game. Update 1.0.8

Here we have another update for you. Again we fixed a few issues here and there. There are no new features this time as we work in parallel on the first bigger content update. That will introduce an endless mode and weekly challenges. Endless mode as the name implies will just not end at wave 80 like the normal mode does. Instead you can continue playing as long as you can survive and get some more elements. Weekly challenges will be really challenges. We have a bunch of things that can be modified and each week you get a new challenge. Less lives, fixed element order, no items, no cooldown between waves and a lot more things are possible. Stay tuned, just played the first challenge this week to test that mode and it was pretty cool and super hard. One could actually say it was challenging. Update 1.0.5

You might have wondered what happened to the announced patch as besides the status update last week there was no further informations here. Well on Steam and PlayStation the update is live already since Friday/Sunday. I wanted to post this news once all platforms are released, but as Xbox and Stadia are a little slow and the second patch is also almost done, here is the news including the changelog and an outlook for the next update. Update 1.0.6 fixes a few remaining issues, most of them are just small issues, but it also includes a fix for one quest on Oasis that doesnt trigger and an issue loading savegames from the autosave on boss waves. Besides these fixes were also looking into the feedback we received so far and are already adding a few improvements like showing what score you need to unlock the medals for the maps. Info for playtesters

Hey there, We just found out that when you participated in our playtest a few months ago and might not have uninstalled that version, your installation can be messed up for the full release. To make sure you're playing the correct version. As of now, the version number in the main menu should be 1.0.5 rev2938. If it's < 1.0.0, something is definitely messed up and you can expect any kind of weird error. To solve that issue, the file verification of Steam might be good enough, but to be really sure, it's best to delete the whole Elemental War 2 folder in your Steam directory and then re-download the game. Sorry for the inconvenience. The changelog for the new 1.0.5 update will follow later today.

Elemental War 2 status update

After the launch on Friday we received a lot of feedback, both positive and negative, including several bug reports from minor stuff to disconnect issues in coop, crashes and more. Were currently working on solving these issues and will provide a patch as soon as were done with it. If you have encountered issues, please report them. In best case with as much informations as possible. Currently fixed issues (most important ones only):

  • continue option (savegames) not always visible and working
  • gamepad for drawing board not working
  • Blood Sacrifice quest can break controls which requires a game restart
  • Taxman can cause disconnect issue in coop
  • Ritual Site can cause some bugs including loading savegame not working
Currently known issues without a fix (most important ones only)
  • a few more disconnect/savegame related issues that still need to be analyzed (some might be related to Rootweave tower)
  • crash when changing resolution(?)
  • crashes during gameplay
  • nut cracking quest might not work (not confirmed yet)
  • monster with 0 HP still running on the map in coop sometimes

Elemental War 2 coop playtest weekend starting now!

Right now we set the coop playtest version of Elemental War 2 live! You can play two of the maps of the final game including some quests and items in singleplayer and online coop. The version is available on Windows, Linux and Mac. The playtest version supports all of our supported languages. The playtest will run until Monday, so make sure you don't miss out. There will be another demo opportunity in February though. Feel free to give it a try and share your feedback with us.

Elemental War 2 Playtest weekend in January

There will be a second playtest weekend for Elemental War 2 in January on Steam, this time with coop mode. Before we finalize Elemental War 2 we want to give you the chance to give your feedback and also check out our coop mode. This is also a stress test for our server setup.

When will the playtest be?


The playtest will take place from January 21st to January 24th.

Who can participate?


We use Steams playtest feature to realize this test. That means you need a Steam account and apply on the store page of Elemental War 2. This playtest version will be available in all our supported languages.

What will be part of the playtest?


The playtest will support Windows, Linux and Mac as platforms via Steam. It will contain two of the maps of the final game in different biomes and a selection of a few quests and items for them. The test will be singleplayer and coop.

What is the goal of the playtest?


We want to get some feedback on the game while still being able to change things. This includes obvious stuff like bugs and performance problems (including network performance), but also gameplay you (dont) like or quality of life features you are missing. Elemental War 2 will support Polish

As we started the translation of Elemental War 2 now and as we have a big Polish following in general, we decided to extend our language support by Polish! The store page already got translated and the game will be translated as well. The translation actually will already be available in the playtest version in two weeks! More languages for the playtest should be ready as well, but we can't confirm any of them yet.

Elemental War 2 Playtest weekend in December

There will be a playtest weekend for Elemental War 2 in December on Steam. As Elemental War 2 moves pretty fast towards completion we decided that its a good time to collect some feedback from externals as were still able to adjust the game. So we will have a playtest weekend on Steam.

When will the playtest be?


The playtest will take place from December 10th to December 13th.

Who can participate?


We use Steams playtest feature to realize this test. That means you need a Steam account and apply on the store page of Elemental War 2. Depending on the amount of people who request access we might either give access to all of them or a random selection. This playtest version will most certainly only be available in English and German as localizations will be started this month and probably wont be ready until the playtest starts.

The test will be singleplayer only. There will be a separate coop playtest somewhen in January. We will inform you about it once we have a final date for it.

Elemental War 2 on gamescom with demo

Elemental War 2 is part of Indie Arena Booth on gamescom this year and you can play our first demo! This year is the first time we are part of gamescom. We have a virtual booth in the Arcade Village of Indie Arena Booth. You can find us there in The Howling Gardens on floor 7. There you find some informations and all important links. We also have a demo representing the current state of the game. You can find it on the Elemental War 2 homepage.
