Hi students, As you might have seen in the Wholesome Games showcase today, we have just announced our next game: Duck Detective!! Suspects, set-ups and sausages - Duck Detective is a charming short-form mystery that allows you to investigate freely and is inspired by The Case of the Golden Idol, Return to the Obra Dinn and ducks in general.
This is a shorter form game coming out next year, while we continue to work on our bigger projects! You play as Eugene McQuacklin, the Duck Detective himself, as he works to crack the case with the help of your supreme powers of deduc(k)tion. Hello everyone!! We're super happy to announce that we will have a fan art competition starting on September 10th to celebrate the launch of Kraken Academy!! To participate, you must create a new piece of art around Kraken Academy, and share it in the Kraken Academy Discord server. The art must feature characters from the game, it could be your take on your favourite character, creating a new Kraken Academy character, or a redesign on Broccoli Girl's Halloween costume! We're excited to see what you come up with, and which characters resonate with you the most!
Submissions will be open from September 10th until October 1st and there will be fantastic prizes to be won, including a Broccoli Girl plushie!!! The competition will take place in our Discord server so make sure to join us! Details on how to submit your fanart will be shared when the competition starts on the 10th of September.

The mysterious Janitor seems to be caught up in investigating a crime syndicate taking residence in the school. Voiced by Brendan Blaber!
Come to Hobo Guy's cave by the school and check out his inventions! He's forgotten who he is and why he is here, but he does remember his son Eugene. Voiced by coldmirror!
The headmaster is known for being strict and very private. Not many students have actually seen him in person. His deepest wish is to get rid of the Kraken. Voiced by Sean Chiplock!

Hello and welcome to the March edition of the Academy Newsletter! This is what weve been working on this month! Development Annika has been writing the dates! This means you will be able to take Broccoli Girl to the newly opened water park, go with Simona to the movies and take Vladimir out to a market fair. (This is how Broccoli Girl looks like in a swimsuit :D)
We also finished writing the side quests and we really love how theyve come together, cant wait to show them to the world!! There will be an unusual family reunion, an uprising of the machines and youll have to help write a love letter, just to name a few.
Joni has implemented the final scenes of the game, including the final boss battles and has been pottering about the Drama club, fixing up things here and there. Sneak peek of the Drama Club area:
Character Intros This month weve introduced Ana and the Players Mom! Ana is a clumsy art student who makes sculptures. She loves her grandma very much and writes her letters every week. Shes voiced by Lizzie Freeman!
The players mom is a single mother. Although she does her best, you can tell that your sister is the favourite child. She takes care of your belongings while you're away in boarding school, which results in her selling half of your N69 games and comics. Voiced by Nola Klop!
Merch After being stuck in customs for over 3 weeks, the Broccoli Girl pins have finally arrived!!! There will be a chance to win one closer to release, join our Discord if you want to know more :D
We started sending merch to all collaborators in the game: voice over actors, artists, etc. Our printer stopped working so we had to label every envelope by hand D: was a lot of fun though!
Casting call We just announced our latest casting call!! This time our open roles range from lovely grandma to vampire drama teacher :D You can apply here until the 7th of April.

We've made some neat updates to our game over Autumn. We just couldn't wait to release them so we've transferred over some of the awesomeness to the steam demo! Our fantastic sound designer, Damion, began work so some of his amazing sound effects are now in -Hinges on doors have been oiled and now sound extra smooth, along with a bunch of new, crunchy sfx! We're slowly overhauling the user interface for the game from it's current dark theme, to a much more colourful and stripped down look - it's only in progress, but it brings a lot of life to the game already. We'd love to know what you think! We're participating in IndieX, Portugal's biggest indie game showcase and we'll be streaming the game at midday CEST on Friday 13th as part of the event.
