Demo Update 0.4.0

I know it's been a while, I'm sorry! But it's for a good reason... a new rendering system! What that means? Well... I added a new camera to the game that allow players to walk and explore planet's surface! Because of this, I needed to rebuild the whole rendering system of the game, and also redo many of the assets, because initially were designed for a top-down view but now you can watch them from any angle.
Also, I fully implement the vegetation system including allowing the players to evolve them and generate procedural plants and trees.
Along with this demo, there are many other changes and improvements, but I will summary them in the following release note. I hope you enjoy this new version of the demo! I promise that the next version will be released sooner! New features

  • New zoom adding walking level camera.
  • New global minimap.
  • New procedural plants.
  • Added soil moisture.
  • Added skeletons to creatures.
  • Added multiple sizes to creatures.
  • Added tile history menu. This will keep a log of what happened in the tile in the past.
Changes

  • Removed evolution energy resource. Now everything works with cosmic energy.
  • New diet system for creatures based on preferences.
  • Added microorganism diet.
  • Now, in evolution menu, when evolving a component the reverts are shown in the same menu.
  • Improved objects positioning in terrain surface.
  • Improved air humidity system.
  • Improved creatures leg movement.
  • Improved messages and hit points visualization.
  • New fighting animation for creatures.
  • Reduced ring rotation and added shadow projection.
  • Improved notifications menu.
  • The creature evolve notification will show only once when the first evolution happens.
  • An alert has been added to notify the time is paused.
  • Now natural volcanoes will appear in fixed positions along continental plates boundaries.
  • New skill tree based on gameplay progression.
  • Simplified planet colors avoiding non-natural colors.
Bugs fixed
  • Fixed showing white square instead of proper sprite on creatures.
  • Fixed bug allowing to change camerazoom when evolution menus were open.
  • Fixed fertile terrain requirements.
  • Fixed time non resuming after some situations that were pausing it.
  • Fixed bug allow to zoom to early during camera tutorial.
  • Fixed blurry skill tree screen.

[color=red]Disclaimer![/color] Please be aware that in addition to encountering bugs, this demo does not feature all the components planned for the final game. Not included features: - Simulation and evolution of plants (includes highly simplified version of the plants). - Several types of food that depended on plants: pollen, flowers and fruits. - The gases of the planet, although present, have no effect on the creatures for the moment. - This demo contains 58 different components to evolve creatures only. The final game will have much more. - The cell stage is not available in this demo. - The civilization stage is not available in this demo. - In this demo is [color=orange]not possible to Save/Load[/color] the game. I hope you enjoy this demo and we await your valuable feedback and your wishlist on Steam! Thank you for playing!

Introducing Artifacts in Planetary Life

Have you ever wished to wield the power to shape the very fabric of your planet? Well, look no further! Enter the realm of artifactsextraordinary items that, once strategically placed, can unleash a myriad of effects, transforming your surroundings either locally or globally. Imagine a world where you have the ability to combine and stack these artifacts, creating a symphony of powerful effects that can elevate your planetary experience to new heights. Today, we're diving into the fascinating universe of planetary artifacts, starting with the most fundamental one.

Get planet energy

Category: Earth The purpose of this Artifact is to serve as a planetary resource extractor, gathering energy to power a variety of tools and artifacts within our arsenal. [previewyoutube=1ASxPqT51hg;full][/previewyoutube]

Change surface albedo

Category: Earth This artifact has the capability to adjust the global surface albedo of the planet, either increasing or decreasing temperatures to make the climate hotter or cooler. [previewyoutube=oO41bbPXkwU;full][/previewyoutube]

Change core heat

Category: Fire Adjusting the global core heat of the planet, whether increasing or decreasing, directly impacts the activity of volcanoes. [previewyoutube=4oTHfP7h7S8;full][/previewyoutube]

Change cloud albedo

Category: Air Much like the surface albedo, this artifact has the capacity to influence global planet temperatures, either making them hotter or cooler. [previewyoutube=qfnLusfFbGw;full][/previewyoutube]

Change temperature

Category: Air Employing this artifact alters the temperature of the designated area. Enhance the impact by stacking multiple identical artifacts in the same region to amplify the effect. [previewyoutube=6vYY1BzV8nQ;full][/previewyoutube]

Change wind direction

Category: Air Manipulate wind direction to shift clouds and moisture to various locations as you see fit. [previewyoutube=xf2OGdNkoxM;full][/previewyoutube]

Increase reproduction rate

Category: Life This will enhance the reproduction rate within the designated area. [previewyoutube=_p4p1IITlho;full][/previewyoutube]

Increase mutation rate

Category: Life This will elevate the mutation rate in the region, accelerating the evolutionary process for the creatures inhabiting it. [previewyoutube=PvmgYPRlBmo;full][/previewyoutube]

  • From an uninhabited planet in space to an ecosystem full of life.

In Planetary Life you will be able to shape a planet in the purest Sandbox Simulation style, playing with its mountains, seas and even its climate, to create the perfect habitat to harbor life.

    PLANETS

Control a planet with the multiple tools available. Let the tectonic plates shape the mountains and seas, modify the climate, the heat of the nucleus, the volcanic activity, the gases of the atmosphere, etc... until shaping the home of your creatures.

    CREATURES AND EVOLUTION

Add creatures and evolve them from simple organisms to intelligent beings. Design and expand them looking for the balance of a perfect ecosystem.
Help them or let them fight for survival on their own.

    GEOSPHERE AND ATMOSPHERE

Change core heat and volcanic activity to shape your planet terrain through volcanoes.
Manipulate rainfalls, cloud and surface albedo to change the climate.

    ECOSYSTEMS

Build ecosystems. Maintain the balance between fauna and flora. Do not let them break the harmony and avoid the extinction of species.

    CIVILIZATIONS

When your creatures reach sufficient intelligence they will organize themselves into tribes and later flourish into civilizations. Manage and help them in the battle for technology to conquer space.
