As a thank you to all my fans I present you the forth major update to Heldric as my gift to you. Inside the nicely wrapped patch you will find many new toys and treasures.
Let it snow, let it snow…
What is a winter holiday update without snow? And lots of it. Including all the festive decorations that come with the season. Decorated trees, gift wrapped pick-ups, Santa costume and even a candy-cane sword for Heldric. All existing maps can also be played in normal or Santa mode.
The children were nestled all snug in their beds…
Well, maybe not so much in their beds any more. This update brings more depth to the game by having a chance of spawning a child instead of adult. Children cannot fight, but can run fast and will grow into an adult in 60 seconds. The harder the skill mode the greater the chance of a child to spawn instead of an adult. Keep this in mind as losing villagers can hurt even more now.
Be good for goodness sake…
You’ve asked for more maps and now they are here. Two new bonus holiday maps include a new game mode where you must protect the Christmas tree and gifts from the grinches out to spoil the holiday. It will take a combined effort of towers and traps to save the day. Don’t forget to ensure your maze is designed to keep them trapped as long as possible.
As they shouted out with glee…
Tower defense fans rejoice. You now have two new towers to unleash on the enemy. A new static spire tower deals electrical damage to all foes in range with a small cool-down. Good for groups and deadly when combined with a slow shrine. But if you really want to stop the enemy in their tracks, then the new void hold tower is what you need. This tower can suck up three to five enemies and hold them for ten seconds allowing other towers to recharge. Once released, they lose 50-75% of their health.
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter…
This update brings three new music tracks to help set the festive mood. These tracks will automatically play on winter maps or when in winter holiday mode. Many new sound effects have also been added to make for a very rich environment.
When what to my wondering eyes did appear…
Your eyes won’t be disappointed with improved textures and terrain quality. On by default in the options, the new HD terrain adds extra detail and depth. Most other objects in the game also received a facelift with better textures and appearance.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work…
In addition to all the other content, the game’s user interface and HUD have also been improved. A new skill bar consolidates actions and weapon selection while providing arrow, keg and spike trap counts. You will also find commonly used functions like build and call for help there for quick use. As before, both the primary and secondary keys may be remapped in the options. See the change log for a complete list of improvements and changes. I’d like to thank all my fans again and wish you a happy holiday and wonderful new year.

Hell is empty and all the devils are here.
Do you enjoy a vicious orc cutting down villagers where they stand? You now have a chance to see what it's like to be the nefarious creatures playing a new bonus map. The orc camp will have you defending yourself against increasing waves of villagers. Don't under estimate villager's power, as each wave they increase in numbers and become better equipped with deadly weapons. Monks with their area of effect lightning spell can take out groups of your fellow denizens. Upgrade your beast portal to summon reinforcements such as goblins, spiders, trolls and even the dreaded orc boss.
Cry havoc, and let slip the dogs of war!
Even the toughest orcs will take pause when they face an angry wolf in their path. A new tower, the war wolf cage, will release a trained wolf that will hunt down any foes in range. These white wolves will also gain experience and can level up. Once killed however, the tower must be rebuilt.
The golden age is before us, not behind us.
This patch not only includes several new additions, but existing content also received attention. Improvements to movement controls to feel more rigid and faster response to player input. Particle effects have been added or improved on most defensive structures and rebirth shrines. Better light and occlusion maps not only improve the game look but performance. A number of balance changes make the game more challenging so be sure and check the change log for details.
Put money in thy purse.
With this third free major content comes even more good news for those of you who don't already own Heldric. That's right, for a limited time Heldric is 33% off! (Starting Oct 6th - 10th) I'd like to thank all of you who have purchased the game. Please help by spreading the word about the game, leaving your review or youtube videos.

Heldric 1.2 MEGA update
Good things come to those who wait. Heldric update to 1.2.5276 is a treasure trove of new content and fixes for your enjoyment. The battlefield will never be the same with new horrific evil terrors to holy warriors.
Evil has never been so terrifying
Heldric's world was already overrun with evil goblins, orcs, spiders and trolls. Now a new group of denizens have emerged to slaughter everyone. New goblin sorcerers have an intense fire eruption spell that will damage all allies range. He isn't bad with a staff in melee combat either. What could be worse than one magical monster? How about two! A new summoner is set to wreck havoc on your efforts by continuing to call forth new evil to the field. Don't even try to take out her minions as she will just make more. If you're not afraid yet, you shall be at the sight of the last doom-bringer. Orc boss monsters have heavy armor and high resistances to most common damage. Add to this a huge health and high damage they will soon become your most hated creatures. Not even mighty powder kegs will or arrows will stop them. Your only hope is to lure them into magical damage done by towers.
Have some faith my son
All this evil must be met with strong countermeasures. Constructing a Monastery will enable the village to spawn a monk. Monks provide bonus healing rate to all allies in range. Even more critical, they call down holy smite AOE attacks their foes. This is an ally you don't want to be without.
Content is great, what about the rest?
Update 1.2 not only adds new content but a slew of improvements and bug fixes. Villagers will now seek out any healing sources such as camp fires and healing shrines when they are low on health. Steam achievements and trading cards have been added. Additionally, many of your requested features have been incorporated. Progress reset buttons have been added to the campaign map and achievements screens. A new difficulty mode “skilled” was added between normal and hard. And much more, check the change log for a complete list.
So what does it cost?
This update is 100% free. I'd like to thank all of you who have supported my efforts by giving some back. If you would like to see more than please help by spreading the word about Heldric. Post a video of your favourite maps. Give the game a review on Steam store or metacritic. And as always, you're welcome to give me your suggestions for the future.

You asked for more
So you asked for it, more monsters and variety. The latest update to Heldric 1.1 has a new terror that crawled out of the ground, spiders!
Spiders!
These eight legged, icky crawlers are out to ruin your day with a few special tricks. First, are the slower big tank-like spiders with high hit points and damage. But don’t think you’ll have an easy escape as they shoot out spider webs to trap their next meal. Next are the more toxic brethren that spit poison from long distance. And then there are the skinny and fast ones. These foes will leap across the map pouncing on any prey in range. All the while bypassing any strategic traps you might have placed in it’s way. Heldric also got rid of the cat holding his tong by adding additional voices such as taking damage, death screams and several others. And have you ever built an obelisk and wondered what kind of range it had? Now you can see all the structures with their area of effect just by hovering your cursor over them in build mode.
Area lamps and wells
You now have a reason to build lamps and wells. During the day, wells will add additional courage to all villagers around it. But at night, you’ll need to build area lamps or campfires to help keep courage up. Villagers now have 20% less courage on night maps, so build those light sources. Finally, the minimap radar also got some improvements by new sort order for target. Enemies now appear on top of any villagers. Villagers icons are now smaller and less distracting.
Still want more?
Check out the complete change log for Heldric 1.1-5229
- Added spiders! Three base classes with five skins each (15 total). They appear after Mudvane
- Added new area of effect range for all structures when in build mode
- Added two new achievements for spiders, “Browse the web” and “Give me a shoe”
- Added bonus courage to wells (works only during daylight)
- Added bonus courage to lamps (works only during night)
- Added bonus courage to campfire (works only during night)
- Added 16 new voice audio clips to Heldric
- Improved minimap/radar – Villagers icons smaller and enemies are now always on top
- Improved text for upgrade window, grey is current/previous version, red you cannot afford yet
- Fixed bug on Gundulf where existing market wasn’t activated
- Fixed bug where animals would not attack
- Fixed colour of text for build window when player could afford structure
- Balance – Removed one medium and one tiny plot on Miur
- Balance – Added an additional 2,000 coins to start income on Gundulf
- Balance – Blood obelisk level one range reduced from 12 to 7
- Balance – Blacksmith bonus melee damage change from 10/20/30/50 to 8/16/24/32

- Heldric - The legend of the shoemaker - Linux Depot [725.51 M]
Do you enjoy hack-n-slash but longed for a bit more? Maybe you like tower defense games but find them a bit boring? Heldric is a unique mix of the same old styles of game with a few new twists. A hack-n-slash without endless level grinding. A tower defense game with more action. A game where you don't play as an epic hero, but as a humble shoemaker who must work together with his fellow villagers to defend their home.
Build and upgrade the village quickly before the attack waves start. Each building you place adds unique abilities to not only the player's character, but your fellow villagers as well. You must choose your structures wisely, as there are only a limited amount of plots available on each map. Every villager contributes to your coin income and provides essential help in defending the town. You must help them defend against waves of monsters intent on killing everyone. Do you have what it takes to survive?
