We recently ran a CourseForge design contest in conjunction with TrackMan golf. The goal was to create a 9 or 18 hole par 3 course which was good looking and fun to play. I'm please to announce that the top 3 courses which have been added to your course library are: 1 - Sand River by Mikahenrik 2 - Abel's Crossing by highfade 3 - The Aces Club by Matt Rose Great work from some very talented designers. There will be more courses released from the par 3 design contest in the future.

TrackMan is pleased to announce a CourseForge design competition, providing all community members with an opportunity to design and create a challenging and fun par 3 course for TrackMan Indoor Golf and the PerfectGolf game. Contestants are asked to create a unique par 3 course with the CourseForge design software. The course should provide a fun challenge to players of various skill levels from beginners to experts, and in addition it should be as aesthetically pleasing as possible. All course styles are welcomed such as Oceanside, Parkland, Forrest, Links, Fantasy etc. There are prizes for the best courses submitted. Prizes are as follows: 1st EUR 1,000 2nd EUR 700 3rd EUR 400 4th EUR 250 5th EUR 150 Course requirements Any submission must contain minimum 9 holes but preferably 18 holes Hole designs cannot be replicas of existing holes or courses but inspiration may be taken from the world's best par 3 holes The length of each hole can be anywhere from 50 to 250 yards, but for every hole at least 3 different tee lengths are required (easy, medium, difficult) For every hole, 3 different pin positions are required (easy, medium, difficult) Courses should have environmental sounds Courses must be able to be loaded and played in TrackMan Indoor Golf and PerfectGolf (as bug free as possible) The author(s) of the course will be credited on the loading screen and as part of the course description, if desired. Not all courses need to be suitable for all skills levels of golfers ie: ‘Beginners’ courses or courses suitable for medium to advanced players are all welcome. However, courses that are designed well enough to cater to a wide variety of players will be preferred by the judging panel. This can be accomplished by the clever use of tee lengths and angles to the green. Entry requirements All contestants must acknowledge and agree to the requirements outlined below. Entries can only be submitted by email to mjo@trackman.com The mail should include: Designer’s real name and address Course description Link to the course download location (e.g. Dropbox) If a course is considered to have sufficient quality, but does not receive one of the main prizes, TrackMan may at their discretion award further prizes of EUR 150 for each course chosen in addition to the main prizefund. In the event of a prize winning entry the contestant grants TrackMan all legal rights to the playable course (including but not limited to the digital course file and name rights) Multiple entries and joint entries are allowed but if a prize is won by a joint entry it will be split evenly among contestants so all names must be included on the entry information. TrackMan may have to adjust the prize winning courses slightly. These changes are meant to improve the design in relation to the design requirements. Trackman will also fix any bugs found on the courses. All identified winners of the competition are responsible for any and all applicable taxes and other government levies that arise from the prizes awarded to each winner The winning courses are planned to be released for TrackMan Indoor Golf – and will also be made available to the PG community to play in PerfectGolf. The course entries should not be released to the public anywhere until the final decision on the winners has been announced.

We are please to announce the imminent release of two new DLC courses for Perfect Golf. PGA national Champion course is home to this weeks Honda Classic on the PGA tour and is considered one of Jack Nicklaus' finest designs. It includes the infamous 'Bear Trap' which is one the toughest and most famous sequences of holes on tour and each yeah hopes and dreams are fulfilled and crushed on the water laden 15th, 16th and 17th holes. We are releasing this course in two formats, one with the normal PG water 'NR' and the other with real time reflective water which is available for the first time in Perfect Golf. You will need a more powerful machine to get the best out of the reflective version of the course so we would consider a graphics card something like a Nvidea GTX 760 to be a minimum requirement. Also being released is the infamous fictional Devil's Island golf course. Set on a remote desert island in the South China seas, Devil's island is the most demanding test of golf available for our game and It's as beautiful as it is tough. Plot your way round the course and down the snaking narrow fairways, avoiding the myriad of hazards, the ocean and even a partially sunken pirate ship! You can purchase the courses in game or from our social site social.perfectparallel.com Enjoy.

Here is a list of the functionality and improvements that have made it into this release.
New Real Course Release - Kissing Tree in Texas
We have released a new official FREE real course in Texas called Kissing Tree. Built as a fun to play resort course it offers a number of risk and reward holes as is great fun to play. http://kissingtree.com/blog/thrive/golf-chat-kissing-tree-course-architect-gary-stephenson/
Recorded Rounds, Compete Against Friends and Save Shots
Under the solo game type you will now see 4 tabs: Local Recorded rounds, Friends Recorded Rounds, Saved Shots and Create New Game. Recorded Rounds. Players can now select to record their round either locally to their hard drive or to both hard drive and the PG cloud making them available to their Steam friends. The friend rounds tab contains the 20 most recent rounds recorded by friends.
Saved Shots. Players can now save shots to their local hard drive for replaying later.
You can lock a recorded round which means that when playing against that round, you must play at the same level and from the same tees . If the round is not locked you can force the game to use the same tees as the recorded round by selecting ‘match tees’ in the pre round screen. To save time on loading, Solo Play saved rounds and recorded rounds are only updated on game start.
Physics improvements
As Perfect Golf is now compatible with a much larger selection of Launch monitors this seemed like an ideal time to cross reference our numbers for ball flight and reaction on landing with direct comparisons to real shots in a much wider selection of scenarios. This meant that we could for the first time, gather and compare shot data from a myriad of short shots and bunker shots which had not been possible before. It also meant that using a large number of real golfers hitting real shots in full size simulators, we could really start to fine tune the ball flight and ball reaction on landing on a much wider range of shots. After comparing the data we made some changes to the physics calculations which brought PerfectGolf even closer reality meaning that a player’s creativity could be rewarded while at the same time reducing the number of ‘go to’ shot’s that people had become reliant upon in almost all scenarios (such as the very high spinning pitch). Further to this, another goal was to blur the lines between the different shot types in the ‘scoring zone’ ie a part ‘Full shot’ swing, the pitch, lob shot and chip. Rather than having one basic shot that would fit the bill for a certain distance and lie, now the player has the opportunity to create realistic bump and run shots from off the green due to our improved fairway physics or they can play a 3/4 Lob wedge and spin it out close to the hole. Another option is to pitch it and have the ball grab and release or lob the ball up high from short ranges without having the unrealistic ability to constantly stop the ball on a dime. We have Increased the amount of overswing power that can be accessed when chipping which helps when playing those bump and runs around the green. Bunker shots have also received some physics love and now the ball behaves more realistically on shots where the ball is caught slightly fat or thin on levels above Amateur. We have separated out Fairway firmness from Green Firmness allowing for a greater variety of game play settings and shot results so for example you can now play with normal fairways and soft greens if you choose to.
Green Surface Options
We have added two new settings to the putting options when creating a game. Previously in all golf games and even in PerfectGolf, the greens have always been, well...Perfect! This is quite obviously not the case IRL and even the greens on the PGA tour have small imperfections which can cause the ball to move slightly offline (or even back online as the case may be!) Using robot putting devices the ball can miss the hole between 1 and 2 times on even a perfectly hit straight 10 foot putt and so again in our search for golf sim perfection we have added this as an option to the game. You now have 3 green settings to choose from: Perfect - defaults to this green type which is the same as before and is billiard table smooth Realistic - behaves very similar to a PGA tour green Bumpy - Slightly less manicured courses or courses where the weather often stops the green surfaces from being as smooth ie. Links courses.
Enhanced Cup Physics
The ball/cup physics has been improved so that the ‘vacuum’ cup bug of the past few builds which enabled players to ram the ball into the hole at high speeds when putting has been eliminated. You will now have be more accurate with your line and your pace too as many of the putts that would previously been ‘sucked’ into the hole will now lip out if offline or jump out if struck too firmly. Three new Putting mode cameras have been added, designed to make it easier to play real time swing modes where putter movement is now more visible. These can be selected in the settings menu and you can also toggle through them using the camera toggle key or ‘Dpad left’ function on the controller when on the green. At first this change will make putting seem more difficult but once you realign yourself to the new pace requirements, things will become much easier. Overhitting putts which used to work well will now likely result in a lot of lipouts or the ball jumping over the hole. A little bit of practice will help here until you get a feel for the new physics
Swing Method Balancing
In conjunction with the enhanced cup physics which have made putting a little more difficult we have adjusted and balanced the skill / swing types: 3 Click: We have tweaked a few of the difficulty settings for various swing types. 3C has had the long game balanced by reducing the spin axis (sidespin) penalty for missed ‘snaps’. This will enable the pro and tour pro players to miss the ‘snap’ slightly on purpose to help control the curve of the ball. Larger missed ‘snaps’ will also have less of an effect. Motion swing and RTS-M: The effect of offline swing paths on putts has been reduced and also the tempo factor has been removed from putting on tour pro difficulty levels. The timing of full and part shots has been altered so that time spent in the ‘overswing’ area is now counted when calculating the tempo of the swing which makes over swung shots less difficult to time correctly. The amount of the overswing penalty has been halved making it a more practical risk and reward All swing types: Fine tuning of fat and thin shots for flop shots and bunker shots. Motion swing and RTS - M tempo, controller swing path and 3C snap penalties have all been tweaked for fat and thin shots.
Improved Wind
Improved Wind effects on the ball in lower wind speeds and added the ability to change the wind in the game set up screen. It will default to your preferred setting in Weather Settings but you can now change it on a round by round basis. Restored the fluctuating wind meter on Pro and Tour Pro. We felt that it’s possible IRL to feel the wind changing as you plan your shot and it was unfair to hide this detailed information from the player at any level. We will be revisiting Wind again in a future release ------------------------
All new AI player Implementation and skills settings
We have rewritten the AI code so that the golfers play much more like a human player, are faster and a greater variety of different skill levels can be achieved. The computer player skill level for a listed shot type affects how likely he is to be able to pick a good shot from all the choices available to him. The Accuracy affects his ability to hit the snap on a particular shot he has chosen The State of Mind affects whether his is always trying to hit the longest shot with a club he can and whether he sticks to the aim points planted on the course by the designer. Aggressive players will overswing more. The Skill level of the golfer (In Player Difficulty) will affect how much the missed snap affects the trajectory of the ball
New ‘in game’ Controller menu X Key
We have an all new in game controller menu which can be accessed with the Blue X button. This brings up a menu of several items that were previously difficult to access due to combinations of buttons on the controller. Items such as the original settings menu, scorecard, leaderboard, spot pin, tend pin, move tee, drop and the practice options were all added to this menu
Bug Fixes
Bug fixes to several modes of play including matchplay bug where players still in hole could be ignored Added 3 person points alt shot to list of mops for that time when you have 6 players Fixed pin tending on Alt Shot Fixed plugged lies on Alt Shot following the player instead of the shot resulting in people seeing plugged lies in the green or outside the bunker Fixes to hazard golf. Improvements to the Simulator Console App Improvements to the tournament API to allow for scoring events like hazard golf and stableford to be played using the api Pressing the left Stick (RH) while in drop mode will allow you to position the drop within the defined drop area Many more minor bug fixes
Known Issues with this Release
Sometimes the end game routing can take up to 45 seconds to complete expecially when using a controller. This affects some poeple and not others. Occasionally when playing against a recorded round some shots will be lost and you will see a post shot screen at which point they will be moved to their second shot without the first shot being played Occasionally a computer player will encounter a situation he is unable to find a shot to play. We have a timer that will reset him to have another attempt which runs after 60 seconds which cures 99% of these problems but there were a couple of occasions where beta testers had to resume in order to get him to hit out of hundreds of rounds played with the AI

The long awaited public beta of CourseForge has been released. When you update PerfectGolf it should automatically download into your SteamsteamappscommonPerfect GolfCourse Forge directory. The exact location may vary depending on where you installed Steam. CF is our course design plugin for the Unity 5.2.3 editor. Instructions on how to import and use CF can be found in the dedicated Course Design section of our forums at: http://www.perfectparallel.com/topic/6902-courseforge-getting-started/ There are a series of video tutorials to help ease you into things. This is the same software that we use at Perfect Parallel to create our courses for PG, the same software that Nicklaus design uses to help design their real world courses and it has been used by our private beta testers to create over 80 community made courses already available to play with PerfectGolf. Happy designing!

The first patch to 1.4.1 is now out. In this patch release are: Updated Muirfield Course file with complete Clubhouse and revised course surrounds housing more in line with what is there for those that have purchased the course file
New Features
Additional Anti Cheat features for zero axis controllers and large dead zone controllers on X axis and Mouse X Axis changes. Work in Progress A Drop Rehit option after you have selected continue on the post shot screen. Right now it is only the option to Rehit. For Mouse / Keyboard users you can use the new icon on the right hand side with a hand dropping a ball. This can be used anytime after the post shot screen has closed to go back to your last shot with a stroke and distance penalty. If you click it accidentially you can cancel. On the controller you will need to hold in the left trigger and press the left bumper. Added Hide UI to controllers using Pressed Left Trigger and Right Bumper Added State of Mind for AI player which toggles between Controlled and Aggressive. A controlled player will rarely overswing and will play to the aim points. He will almost always choke down on a longer club than try to force a shorter club. The aggressive player will try to drive as far as the hole allows and will usually try to force a shorter club.
Bug Fixes

This release is a couple of minor bug fixes plus a complete rewrite of the Computer Players. We have released this a little earlier than we planned due to the release of Royal Troon which requires an update to the game so that the Pot Bunkers will work. We will continue to work on the Computer Players.
Computer AI Players
The computer players have been significantly advanced but they still have a few issues we are working on. We have added an Accuracy Setting for computer players. This setting determines how good they are at hitting the snap. Set it to 10 and computer players will almost always hit the fairway even at Tour Pro. Set it to 1 and they will miss a bunch of fairways at Am and Above. The driving and long iron and short iron Skills determine how much of the snap error is taken on each shot The Short Game and putting Skills define how many times the game will attempt to find the best shot honing in on it. You can change the skill of the computer player general difficulty so snap misses are proportional to that skill level. These settings and the overall general difficulty level of the player will allow you to create and fine tune the experience. We feel this is a major improvement to the computer players. However I am sure as they get a good deal of use people will uncover situations where they make odd decisions. There are an infinite number of potential positions the computer golfer can get into including bad aim points on certain courses. Please report any strange decision making you get.
Royal Troon
We have reached an agreement with Royal Troon to bring you an official version of this years British Open Course. This will be available to purchase in the store very soon.

A quick note to express out apologies for some fo the problems people have been having with purchasing Muirfield Village. It turns out we had a limit on the number of transactions that steam send us when we query the in game purchases and so those who purchased after we hit the limit were not seing the course in the game. We are seeking to rememdy this situation as soon as possible with a quick fix and will be posting it soon. Again please accept our sincere apologies for this inconvenience.

It has become clear from reviewing the reviews that there are a number of misconceptions around our plans for DLC and Microstransactions. This post while we appreciate it is a little late, attempts to clarify many of the concerns people have raised around the game and what our future plans are.
User Created Course Content
As previously communicated we will be releasing Course Forge for free to all purchasers of JNPG for non commercial purposes as soon as we have resolved the licensing issues around plants and trees distribution. This will enable the community to create their own content for the game. As also previously stated on the store page, this content will be free to use by all players of the game provided that they keep their game up to date with the latest releases of the game. All users on the latest release of the game will be able to play user courses at no additional cost. This enables us to continue to develop the game make improvements add new features.
Premium Licensed Courses
We are investing in building highly accurate and detailed renditions of real courses. In many cases we have to obtain a license to use the course name and likeness. As a result we have to charge a small fee for these courses. There may be some premium courses that will be released as a free download where we do not have to pay any licensing costs. The cost of these courses will be set based on volume. If we sell lots of these courses then we can reduce the cost of them down the road. Because we are a small independent developer we can only make deals with courses that are based on a per download amount. The more data we have and the higher the average course download is the less we can agree to pay per course with the licensee. This brings the course down. So if you want lower cost real licensed courses in the future the best way to support us to deliver that is to purchase the early courses we license.
In Game Licenses Transactions (Microtransactions)
Currently there is only one item in our store which is the Caliber Ball. A number of people will look at this as pay to win. We do not see it this way but we can understand the thoughts of those who feel strongly about this. All we can do is explain what our purpose is behind it and let you all be the judge. Golf is a game where equipment is a key component to the game. Different balls have different characteristics, Clubs and Shafts also have different characteristics. In the real world some golfers like to purchase equipment that improves their game at the expense of being able to have a fine level of control over the ball. There are referred to as game improvement clubs. Others prefer to purchase clubs that give them a very fine level of control over the ball at the expense that a mishit will have a much bigger impact. We are trying to bring this type of customisation into the game to give people a wider variety of ways to play the game. The goal of this equipment will be to provide a balance. A lot of work goes into balancing these items such that one item does not necessarily have a major overall benefit. Ideally each item has an equal negative and positive. But for people who have a challenge playing a game where they can hit a 3 click snap using game improvement equipment will help them keep the ball in play but they will be at a disadvantage when it comes to shaping the ball and distance meaning longer clubs into the greens and less ability to hit tucked pins. Many will argue that this is Pay to Win. But at the end of the day you can only put 14 clubs in your bag and one ball and you cannot change them during the round, so whatever you put in your bag you will still have to play to the strengths of that equipment set. If you dont you will inevitably find yourself losing to a player who does, regardless of the equipment in play, so we regards it as a feature that adds to the gameplay. These items will all be very cheap in the store designed to cover a small amount of the cost that goes in to creating and balancing these items.
Simulator Passes
We do have one pass in our store that is for Simulator Users. Traditionally studios that have created golf games distribute a separate version of the game to people who want to use that game in a simulator. For some the difference in price can be several hundred dollars if not thousands of dollars for the exact same game but used in a simulator environment. We did not believe that this was a good way to promote the game and felt that simulator users were being taken advantage of due to a lack of options. So we have integrated Simulator integrations into the game and allow people with simulators the ability to play the game with the same purchase they have made. Our approach makes it a little more difficult for us because we have to integrate the season pass for these simulator users into the game so they dont have to purchase an additional copy of the game. In addition we have to enter into agreements with each of the hardware companies. There is no content associated with the Simulator Season Pass it is merely a way for us to recoup the cost of building the integrations with all the hardware companies into the game. It represents a major shift in reducing the cost of simulator software. Again people have mistaken a genuine attempt on our behalf to reduce the cost of golf simulation to the community as an attempt to gouge the consumer. This is not the case at all.
Future new Game Content
While much of this is speculation and no firm decisions have been made as to what will be built or what the model is we are committed to making improvements to the game and adding features. One of these will be a highly detailed career mode. This career mode will probably be a free DLC. It will be a full blown career mode, involving managing your career and financial resources in the game. It is likely that there will be a number of microtrasactions that you will be able to buy although almost all of these will also be earnable in the game play too. None of the items inside career mode will be available for use in the regular game, except pehaps for a couple of items that are rewards for leveling up from one level to another (eg Turning Pro). You will be able to complete career mode without needing to purchase anything via microtransactions although those who want to accelerate their careers will be able to do so as well. There will be much more on this in due course. In addition we are planning some major upgrades and improvements to the game, the exact timescale for which is not fixed at this time but once released will be available as a new DLC which will probably be priced reasonably. We cannot continue to develop the game and add new features without charging a small amount for this DLC. We will not go into the long list of improvements and adds in this post as it is focused on explaining our approach. Once additional Feature driven DLC is available access to play user created content will be limited to those players who are on the new version. Those choosing to not keep the game up to date with the new DLC will continue to be able to use Perfect Golf with all the content they have purchased or we have released as free DLC or was included with the game but user courses will no longer work with older versions of the game. We want to highlight this aspect as it is important people understand what our intentions are. We are not trying to hide this. The purpose is to ensure that JNPG is continuously developed, upgraded and added to. However we cannot have a team of people working on this without selling the future upgrades to the game.
New Methods of Play
We have just opened up our new Method Of Play creator under the Tools tab at Social.PerfectParallel.com. Here you can create and customize your own methods of play for the game. This service is provided completly free of charge to all our customers.
Summary
Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf does not have any requirement to pay an annual or monthly season pass. Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf will offer equipement customization options to its users to add a variety of game play options all of which will be balanced and should not adversely impact anyone who chooses not to use any of these cutomisations. Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf will include a Simulator Pass to allow simulator users for the first time to use a PC game connected to their simulators without having to purchase a separate copy of the game at a massively inflated cost. Jack Nicklaus Perfect Golf will offer both free DLC as well as Paid DLC. There will be annual paid milestone updates to the game with significant added content and functionality. These will be considered an upgrade to the game for the purposes of continuing access to all the community built courses which have been built with our FREE course creator software, CourseForge.

All new Full shot, Splash shot, Lob Shot, Pitch Shot, Chip Shot, Short, Medium and Long Putt animations All new Pre Shot Waggles All new Player Character Customisation Configurator under Player Settings Clothing. No longer are shirt colors tied to teams, now you can customise your golfer the way you want him to look. Animation will now conform to the terrain unless of course the shot is impossible to conform to.. All sounds, effects and ball launch are now timed to the key animation frame in the swing meaning there should be no out of sync on these elements All new 3W, 5W, 7W and Hybrid clubs to go with the Driver, Long Iron, Medium Iron and Wedge The new animation system necessitated some changes to our camera system which we have made. While the goal was to get it back to the way it was we made a few minor improvements along the way too
The New Equipment Customisation System
All new equipment configurator under Player Settings Clubs now provides for customisation of the clubs including new club sets as they are released, new shafts and new grips. Each club grouping can be customised individually. the club groupings are Driver, Woods, Hybrids, Irons, Wedges and Putter We will be releasing different shafts and clubs in the future some of which will be vanity and some of which will have different characteristics. Before we introduce the next component of this let us reiterate that you will not be able to nor will we charge our players costs to be able to buy skill levels. Having said that not everyone plays golf with forged blades nor do they all use graphite shafts. So we will be introducing new shaft, and equipement that will have different characteristics. We all know that forged clubs give you more control but are harder to hit and have a smaller sweet spot. The large headed drivers give you a little more forgiveness off the tee but might not be as long and so on. So our equipement will allow you to set up your players to play the game you want to play. For every element that is a gain there will be a corresponding loss, but you will be able to trade things like distance for accuracy, change loft on your clubs and change the spin chacteristics. It will be a while before new clubs and shafts are available as we will have to test them thoroughly first to make sure one club or shaft does not provide an inadequate weighting to the game.
The New Real Time Swings
Real Time Mouse Swing and Real Time Mouse Swing Horizontal. Once in the game you will see a new UI replacing the Swing Meter. This allows you to select your clubs and shot shape. Once happy with your shot right click on the mouse (Once you start to move the mouse the swing button will go red indicating the timer has started and then move your mouse like in Motion Swing before. Judge your distance based on how far the club moves back on the backswing. Controls work just like Vertical Motion and include the same Tempo driven swing. To overswing with the RTS Mouse swing keep pulling the mouse as you reach the top. Real Time Controller Swing... Select in the device and then press A to trigger the swing, the swing icon will go red. Use the Stick to move the club back and forth and push forward quickly to initiate a swing. To overswing in RTS Controller you need to keep the button pulled back. You will feel a tension as the club slowly moves further at the top and generates overswing. Both of these new swing types have help screens available in the help section of the UI (see below new feature) Other New Features We are pleased to announce a whole range of new features in the game with this release: All New Free Camera - We have added a new Free Camera Mode. It is now a 3 way toggle. Press F5 once (left trigger+dpad down on controller) and you enter Free Camera Mode and can fly around just as before. Press F5 a second time and you are now frozen in place and can take your swing from here. If you choose to do so then you will forgo your regular camera and get the spectator camera instead. Press F5 a third time and you are returned to your original position behind the player based on your default camera selection

These birds also create a shadows too. 2) We have added divots that are created when you swing and fly off in front of you after impact. 3) We have added ball marks on the greens assuming a certain speed of the ball on contact 4) Tee shots are now played from a tee and that tee will change in height based on your club selection. In addition the tee will fly in the air on contact with the club ( You wont see it if you use follow cam) We have also added Custom Flags to PG so now courses with custom flags will show their flags. Not all courses will have custom flags yet of course but these are set inside Course Forge Added a new UI for Simulators with a Putt Out Button a normal and putting toggle button and an arm device button For all Mouse Swings we enabled the mouse scrollwheel to change the clubs up and down We have made all replays work across the network so now when you play a replay online all the other players will see the replay We have added a new Help page under Settings -> Help. These screens provide a wealth of information on how to play the game and will be consistenly added to as we create more. We have added a number of integrations into the game which will be available based on the manufacturers decision to release and pricing. So far we have completed SkyTrak, Trackman3, Trackman4, Our own Generic TCP IP plugin with several more coming soon. For now only the Simulator option (Our Generic TCP IP will show in your user choices.)
