Studio Update


The wales Interactive team have been extremely busy since the PC development of Soul Axiom, releasing the game on Xbox One, PS4 and Wii U. We went on to develop the completely live action psychological horror game, The Bunker, alongside Splendy Games. This launched on PC, PS4 and Xbox One and had a launch which far exceeded expectations. Soul Axiom out now on PS4 Xbox One

Hello again! It’s been some time since we’ve last sent out a news post and that’s because we’ve been working away at getting the game up to scratch on those console editions. We are happy to announce that all that work (and your Early Access work!) has paid off as Soul Axiom is now out on Xbox One and PlayStation 4! Hurrah!

Soul Axiom launched with a base price of £15.99, $19.99, €19.99 with a limited time launch sale on PS4. PS Plus members will receive a discount of 15% bringing the price to £11.99, $14.99, €14.99 for a limited time only.

Xbox One


Xbox One gamers will also receive a timed exclusive deal featuring 2 hours of bonus content containing a never-before-seen Chapter with 3 unique levels and a digital copy of the 82-page art book featuring character, environment and storyboard designs. Soul Axiom Steam Sale 1.2 Update Notes

Great news everyone... To coincide with today’s update, we’re putting Soul Axiom on sale with 40% off! That also includes the Artbook & Soundtrack DLC, Deluxe and Super Deluxe Edition! It was another great opportunity to show off and talk about the development of the game through Steam Early Access :-)

  • NOTE: This update will be live for Windows, Mac and Linux.

    Access to Corrupt Portals - Puzzle Saves


  • This update brings a more efficient way of revisiting levels and finding the Corrupt portals. Now, when a player has received the Corrupt Power, they will no longer have to redo puzzles in each level to find the portal. Many puzzles will be now be completed and locked entrances will be open. In some levels, this will also make it quicker to find missing PEMOs.

    Improved Mechanics


  • We’ve now increased the speed of the Phase, Play, Destroy and Corrupt hand powers which will give more precision, more noticeably when targeting smaller or moving objects.

    Optimisation


  • Major optimisation pass across entire game to increase general FPS and reduce spots with FPS drops.

    Minor Bug Fixes and Gameplay Improvements


  • Fixed a rare issue when the game would crash selecting a mirror in the Waiting Room.
  • Fixed an on-going issue with the statues sometimes not accepting the right order in Church.
  • Fixed some minor occlusion issues in various areas.
  • Fixed some minor snagging issues.

    Soul Axiom 1.1 Update


    Soul Axiom Launch


    Hi everyone! We hope you’ve all enjoyed the 1.0 version of the game and we’d like to thank you all once again for your awesome contribution during the Early Access development. Since the launch, we’ve taken the game to the PC Gamer Weekender (where we had a fantastic response from gamers) and we’ll also be featured at EGX REZZED in just a couple of weeks’ time in London. If you’re attending the show, feel free to hunt us out and say hi!

    Optimisation


  • Major optimisation pass across entire game to increase general FPS and reduce spots with FPS drops.

    Linux Graphical Issue


  • While we are continuing to resolve the graphical issues on Linux builds, we have implemented a temporary fix. The problem is the 'Bloom' feature we use in-game creating large white graphical effects with certain Linux drivers. Linux users now have the option to turn off the Bloom effect in the settings. We would just like to thank you all for your patience on this issue and we will continue to find a solution to the underlying problem.

    Minor Bug Fixes and Gameplay Improvements


  • Stopped a sound constantly playing when picking up a red cube in Apartment.
  • Fixed a sorting issue with the skeletons in the Church crypt.
  • Added SFX to the meteor in Corrupt Apartment.
  • Fixed an issue causing the player to get stuck when jumping off the PEMO ledge in Mansion.
  • Fixed an issue causing the player to get stuck in the curtains near the end of Hospital.
  • Added an X-Hand icon on the console in Museum.
  • Made the Desert Temple hint more visible.
  • Added a “locked” message to the tutorial portal after the Monorail.
  • Added a “Level progress will be lost” message to the exit portals in levels.
  • Fixed an issue causing you to get stuck in the Corrupt portal room in Space Station.

    We also managed to squeeze a minor game update today ironing out a few details. The update is for Windows, Mac and Linux and will go live tonight at 18:00 GMT.

    Soul Axiom Launch – The Countdown Begins!

    Hi all, now we’re just over a week away from the 1.0 launch and we’re releasing the last few updates with minor bug fixes and improvements. If you haven’t heard already, we’re releasing the game on February 29th… a Leap Day! We initially planned this to be our last Early Access update but there’s still room for one more minor update if need be which will likely take place just before the 1.0 release.

    Operating System


    This update will be going live for Windows, Mac and Linux.

    Achievement Fixes


    * Visitation Rights – Players who have completed the challenge but not unlocked the achievement should now have it unlocked when at the Hub.

    Major Bug Fixes and Gameplay Improvements


    * Added a vibration feature to controllers. * Fixed an issue causing the back of the map not to load when revisiting the crypt in Church. * Fixed a very rare issue with the player camera in Apartment. * Fixed a very rare issue with the Winter HQ puzzle not catching the Play beam. * Fixed an issue with the hit marker on the furnace being too small in Church graveyard.

    Minor Bug Fixes and Gameplay Improvements


    * Minor improvement to sensitivity settings for controllers. * Fixed the mouse cursor overlaying the settings. * Multiple deaths now cause the difficulty to lower in Corrupt Museum. * Fixed a rare issue causing the crystal not to be obtainable on the plant in Apartment. * Changed the escape pod ending in Space Station so it’s a one-click exit. * Tweaked the cart puzzle in Beach so you don’t have to Play the last piece. * Tweaked and balanced some SFX throughout the game. * Fixed various frame rate drop spots throughout the game. * The very first PEMO now disappears when collected. * Fixed the flickering on the edge of the world in Elysian Fields.     Update – 1.0 Release Date Blue Duck Fun


    Official 1.0 Release Date


    Hi all, now we’re nearing the end of Early Access development, we’re releasing the last few updates with minor bug fixes and improvements. We now have an official release date of 29 February 2016.. A Leap Day!! We are still to plan one more update before the release so Early Access contributors still have time to join in the with finishing touches of the game. Gamers will also notice a dramatic reduction in file size originally from around 12GB to a much lower size of just under 5GB. This is mainly down to a major ‘behind the scenes’ optimisation pass.

    Operating System


    This update will be going live with Windows, Mac and Linux. We had reports of a major visual bug in the previous Linux build so please get in touch via the forums if those problems are still occurring.

    Soul Axiom is Content Complete!!


    What's New?


    The finale is here! If you've completed enough Zero levels then congratulations, your Central Visitation Beam (Find the related PEMO for more details) is now available to use! We’re proud to announce that Soul Axiom is content complete which means we can now look over the entire game to be touched up ready for the Early Access switch to be flipped.

    Multiple Endings


    With this update comes the final chapter of the game and we are giving you the chance to choose your own ending! Don’t worry, you won’t miss out on any gameplay, after completing the game you are free to revisit the Waiting Room to complete the endings of your choice. Without giving anything away, each ending consist of two scenarios with one bonus scenario depending on which path you take… you won’t want to miss it! Don't forget, you will need to have completed most Zero levels to gain access to the Waiting Room and ALL Zero's to unlock all three endings.

    Achievements


    All Achivements are in! anyone who wants to 100% the game this is now possible! let us know if you have any problems with them.

    That’s right, we need your input now more than ever. With just weeks left of development we’re looking to tighten up the game with an immediate focus on everything from the Waiting Room to very end of the game.     Known Bugs


    * Warzone Zero – It’s possible to die immediately in the level even when inside the bunker. It’s difficult, but not impossible to complete this level so please just keep running until you find cover outside. * SFX & Music - There is a known major bug causing SFX and Music to drop occasionally throughout the game. Where and when it happens is quite random but the fix is already complete and will be in the next update.     New Visual/Gameplay Content Complete Optimisation


    Greetings Everybody! We're back with a brand new update featuring new visual and gameplay content and our biggest optimisation and lighting pass to date! If you missed our last announcement then follow this link where we announced the recent engine upgrade and explained why we rebuilt the level lighting from the ground up which has given the game a whole new bunch of benefits.

    What's New?


    Optimisation


    Our biggest result of the update is the overall framerate throughout the entire game. Depending on what system spec you're running, you should notice a big difference in framerate and shouldn't experience any sudden drops in areas in the game. This is still a work-in-progress and we have found new ways to increase the FPS so expect to see more improvement after the game is content complete. We’re aiming for 60 FPS with most levels and are already hitting those targets in some. If you experience any further framerate drops then let us know in the bugs forum.

    Visual Improvements


    The force behind the huge optimisation pass was down to completely rebuilding the lighting and improving shader work in all chapters of the game. Some levels will have subtle changes whilst others will have had a complete makeover. You’ll notice some levels are now darker and this is because we’ve increased the glow from your powers which you can use to light up your surroundings and essentially act as a torch. Some of the more noticeable levels that have visually been improved include Ice Palace, Church, Space Station, Mansion and University. Check out the new animated werewolves in the Mansion and new and improved gargoyles in the Church! We’ve also gone through and updated various textures and props to keep it in line with the rest of the game.

    Chapter Six


    We had intended to release part of Chapter Six with this update but have agreed to spend more time on polishing the entire ending to be released in our next update. In January, the game will be content complete and a date will be announced to flip the Early Access switch. We’ll be working full gas over Christmas to get Chapter Six up to a standard that we’re happy to release with.     Chapter Six Development Update

    Hi everyone! Here's a quick update on how the development is going... As you might be aware this next update has taken a lot longer than expected. The reason being we were forced to update the game engine because of a bug which made it impossible for us to continue developing on. Unfortunately, the engine update broke a lot of animations and materials in the process so we've been working hard on fixing those. Also, we've completely overhauled each level with our biggest optimisation pass throughout the game and so you should see a significant increase in FPS. As well as FPS improvements, you'll also find huge changes to the lighting in many levels plus extra animations, gameplay tweaks and story hints throughtout the game. Not forgetting you'll also have the final installment to get stuck in to. The content will be coming your way next week so keep an eye out for the next announcement.     Chapter Five | New Zero Levels, Hub Revamp Optimisation



      What’s New?


    • The final four Zero levels are finally here! Visit the Space Station, Church, Apartment and Winter HQ to reveal the endings to your character memories! With the final four Zero level we are closer than ever to the end of Soul Axiom :)




    • The Hub has had a complete visual revamp with a darker, moodier atmosphere and with it comes a complete optimisation pass for a smoother running game!


    • We’ve been continuing to optimise the Space Station level so you’ll notice straight away a huge improvement on FPS. We’re also continuing to work on the visuals and gameplay so check out some of the rooms of the new Space Station and watch this space for more visual and gameplay improvements coming soon.


    • We’ve now started up the Official Story Thread where you can discuss all things story related. We’re really looking for interaction on this thread so any contribution is much appreciated by the dev team :)

      Bug Fixes and Improvements


    • Fixed a major issues where you couldn’t escape the dino area in the Apartment.
    • You can now scroll through the volume sliders more easily.
    • Tweaked SFX in all levels including the turret gun in Warzone Zero.
    • Fixed in issue with the dino SFX still playing after you return to the apartment.
    • Fixed an issue with the grid puzzle SFX in Jungle Zero.
    • The turret now only shoots when the player is in sight.

    Chapter Five | Zero Updates, Space Station Revamp, PEMO Update




    Today’s update is packed full of more visual improvements on the Zero levels and more plus a new PEMO pickup update!

      What’s New?


    • Revisit all the current Zero levels to find a new, darker and more coherent Corrupt visual style!
    • The Space Station level has received its makeover with a complete overhaul of the visuals! We’ve also added an entire new ending to the level so don’t forget to check that out! Please Note: There will be heavy performance issues with this level at the moment. We have a major optimisation pass to come which will significantly increase the FPS.




    • PEMO hunters can now find any of the monkey’s they have already collected in a level as they are now visually indicating whether you’ve picked them up previously or not. We’ve played around with some of the locations (even in this update with the Space Station) so it’s now easier to update any Monkey PEMO guides.
    • We’ve now started up the Official Story Thread where you can discuss all things story related. We’re really looking for interaction on this thread so any contribution is much appreciated by the dev team :)


      Bug Fixes and Improvements


    • Fixed a shader issue with the potion puzzle portals in Mansion
    • New hologram prompts after Zero completions in the Hub.
    • Fixed an issue causing the Ice Palace chess puzzle to complete in just a couple of moves.
    • Fixed an issue with an achievement in Hospital Zero not unlocking.
    • Fixed the colour issues on the Jungle Zero puzzle
    • Added Corrupt Console hints to Hub for every level.
    • Made the crows easier to Phase when they’re close to you in Mansion Zero.

    Chapter Five | New Zero Levels, New Memories Level Updates‏


    Hi all! We’ve got a very exciting update today with new levels and a whole host of new memory cutscenes!

      What’s New?


    • 4 brand new zero levels to get stuck into! Replay the Ice Palace, University, Hospital and Mansion to find those Corrupt Cubes. We’ve carefully hidden them around the levels and some much harder than others so happy hunting!
    • We’ve been promising a revamp on all the memory cutscenes and it’s now here! As well as implementing the brand new memories for Space Station, Winter HQ and all 8 Zero levels, the videos come complete with all new voice acting, updated animations/SFX and a “memory incomplete” prompt at the end… we hope you like them! We’ll start a Story Thread in the Discussions page and we’d really appreciate all your feedback and thoughts on the story so far. Let us know what you think is happening, what’s clear or less clear and even how you think the story will unfold at the end.
    • We’ve done a total SFX pass as well as updated the visuals in the Ice Palace and Ship level. You may also notice that there’s been some movement with the PEMOs. Some of them have had their content updated and some have been re-hidden, if you’ve collected the PEMOs already then you won’t find much notice.


      Major Bug Fixes and Improvements


    • Added a feature to make the sword puzzle in Mansion easier over time
    • Fixed more issues causing the music to be extremely quiet.
    • Fixed some save data issues and spawn point issues.
