Voice Of Pripyat - Update 6

Hi. Heres one more Update dedicated to content improvements! Desert Eagle, L96A1, SPAS. heres a before/after comparison video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=umbkqRj7Zy4 M16, SCAR, AUG, Glock heres a video showing the improved guns: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oL6bllFYr8c Walther P99 heres a video showing the improved gun: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4-JcCu1dViM&feature=youtu.be Please note, that shooting fx (showcased in Workshop section of the hub http://steamcommunity.com/games/269530/announcements/detail/177093765624436402) for all guns will come as a separate update. Right now we're concentrating on new weapon models, animations and sound fixes. Other fixes: - fixed a bug with gun upgrade system. - optimized gun fx; added a new checkbox associated with disabling additional gun fx for improved performance. - Bunker map is back to normal (turned off Christmas mode). - added the ability to change language of the game (EN and RU at the moment) in the options menu.
Apart from that weve been experimenting with 3rd person animations for the weapons (so you could see how your opponent beautifully reloads the gun), but decided that currently we should focus on 1st person view to maximize the visual impact from the updates. So far weve improved 22 weapon models. The approximate plan for the next weapon update (new model, animations, sounds) is: 1. Crossbow. 2. Val. 3. Some more AK models, apart from the already upgraded AK-47. 4. Mp5. 5. Basic grenade launcher. 6. SR-25. 7. Makarov. 8. Colt 1911. Right now were experimenting with performance, fixes for networking lags and more graphics content upgrades. After that well be able to address more issues. What do you think? thanks, Slav

Voice of Pripyat - Update 5

Hi! Here's an update, mostly dedicated to lvl.8 balance issues: 1. Upon getting to level 8 - players now receive an additional bonus to have more comfortable experience in Pro lobby. The bonus includes level 1 exo, SVD & FN2000 weapons and a set of consumable items (50 medikits, 20 traps, 20 anti-jumper grenades, 200 chocolates, 5 monster summon artefacts). Players who already got over lvl.8 - will be receiving the bonus tomorrow. 2. The rate for getting bolts in Steam is now x3. and Steam players now have +100 hp from the start + weapon upgrade rate is accelerated. This should make playing in Pro lobby a bit more comfortable. 3. Bullet hit effects from Update 4 can now be seen not only when you are shooting, but also when the opponent makes a shot. We're evaluating the performance - if all goes well, there will be one more update to add the new fx support to all maps. What do you think? Thanks!

Voice of Pripyat - Update 4

Hi! In this update we've: 1. Added new bullet holes and new bullet hit effects & sounds. Supported surface types are: - wood; - water; - ground; - concrete/walls; - metal. The following video shows the effects before and after the improvement: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIy4qsBlsJ8&feature=youtu.be Right now the improvements work only for Bunker map - if tests go well, we'll fix all other maps too. Also for performance reasons new effects work only when you shoot - but not when someone else makes a shot. We'll be making some performance tests - if all goes well, we'll roll out one more update dedicated to the effects spawned by your opponents. 2. Fixed a few bugs: - fixed a customization (hats) mismatch bug on female skin; - fixed crouching bug (it was sometimes possible for the player animation to fall through the ground); - fixed a bug with dissapearing messages in global chat; - fixed a bug with grenade launcher not shooting sometimes (oops, sorry for that!); - fixed a bug with CTF and ZM modes on Ghost City map. 3. Corrected a few things related to differences between web and Steam version of the game (upon the feedback of players who migrated from web to Steam): - gun upgrade system now works in Steam (you use your gun and at some point a levelUp button appears - allowing you to get a free damage upgrade for the gun); - it is now possible to exchange gold to bolts in Steam. - Job section is now available in Steam version of the game (jobs are simple text missions for getting bolts when you're away from the game). 4. Old version of Pripyat map is available in the game now.
5. Added a few minor improvements: - you respawn with the same weapon that was selected when you died; - melee weapon animation speed was slightly increased to make the animations look better; - improved flag rendering in CTF mode;
6. Added new sounds: - new sounds for walking on different surface types. This currently works in test mode on Bunker map (other maps will be fixed a bit later); - improved sounds for hitting the enemy (body hit, headshot); - new sound for spawning a zombie with summon scroll; - new level up sound - added a sound for the weapon shop (pressing the buy button). Right now the plan is to continue working on graphics and animations improvements, plus on some necessary bugfixes and performance/network lag fixes. Also there will be a "8 lvl balance" hotfix available later this week. What do you think? Thanks!

Voice of Pripyat - Update 3

Hi! As you might know, we've been working on graphics improvements recently.
I made several posts about that in the workshop previously: http://steamcommunity.com/gid/103582791436736432/announcements/detail/179346923935996228 http://steamcommunity.com/gid/103582791436736432/announcements/detail/177093765624436402 And today I'm proud to announce our most recent graphics update with improved melee weapons: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdh4oG-LV74&feature=youtu.be The video shows the hands, animations and weapon models before and after the improvement. The whole range of melee weapons shown on the video has several attack animations and idle animation, along with the new models of the hands and the actual weapons. Apart from that: - idle animation can be triggered by pressing Mouse ScrollWheel. - we've added the same improvements to the grenade (new hands, new model, animations). - in order to improve the balance in terms of grenades, we've made frag grenade to have 350 damage (if you throw it close to the enemy). Right now not all players are satisfied with the grenades - we'll make several more iterations here. - Bunker map was updated with the Christmas version (please turn on the particles in order to see snow and fireworks). - it is now easier to play as a zombie in ZM mode (zombies are not pushed back with the firearms as much as before). - we've made a bit more performance improvements for the particles. - zombies in ZM mode now have Christmas hats. The short term plan is: 1. To continue improving weapons (firearms and grenades) along with their sounds. 2. Fix the 3rd person animations in general and make those melee weapons fix work in 3rd person too - as right now it is in 1st person only. 3. We're thinking about the balance issue at level 8. Plus there's an issue with saving XP on our backend - we have almost hunted down that bug, so it will be fixed too. So probably several next Updates will be about that. Then will be able to address some other issues. What do you think? Happy New Year! thanks, Slav

Voice of Pripyat - Update 3

Hi! Today we've finally added Steam Trading Cards: - 8 big cards. - 8 small cards. - 3 smiles. - 3 hd backgrounds. - 6 badges. We hope you like them! In this update we've also optimized gauss trails, grenade and gauss explosions. This should lead to less FPS drops during battles. A few users have reported an error launching the game - we've investigated and it seems their machines didn't have Visual C++ Redist and Steam API plugin we use for authenticating users didn't work properly. Steam allows us to include this package to the game by default, so we've adjusted the associated settings for the app - so now everything should be fine for people with the issue. We continue to work on graphics improvements - I'm going to post one more Workshop video within the next few days. thanks, Slav

Voice Of Pripyat - working on graphics improvements (part 1)

Hi! We're currently working on a graphics update for guns, as the overall graphics improvements is one of our main goals. In the following video you can have a look at the comparison of the old hands and guns - and the new AK 47 (from 1st person perspective): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jk3J48SUBu4&feature=youtu.be

Here's a list of what we've done: 1. A smoke trail when the gun is heated and a new bullet trail (based on awesome Better Trails package from Pigeon Coop https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/16076). 2. Shoot, run and reload animation for the hands and the gun. 3. Shoot and reload sounds. 4. Animated light source to lighten up the gun and the environment when the shot is made. 5. New hands model (from cool guys at BlocBros Studio https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/17201). 6. A bit better gun model. 7. A custom shader using Diffuse, Colored Specular, Gloss, Normal, Ambient Occlusion maps with a bit of Rim light and fresnel effect (made in ShaderForge https://www.assetstore.unity3d.com/en/#!/content/14147). This is a first step to push the visuals further! The next things on our todo list is to fix more weapons, test the improvements from 3rd point perspective and run some performance tests. We haven't released these improvements to the public yet, so I think this post is OK for the Workshop section. I hope you like it! thanks, Slav

Voice of Pripyat - Update 1

Hi! Thank you very much for the feedback. We're already working on the updates, bugfixes and I'm personally trying to fix any misunderstanding we're having with the community. We've updated the game to Unity 4.5.5 in order to fix an issue with mouse cursor on Linux. During the update (as it sometimes happens) - some mecanim animations broke down, so we fixed this one too. As it was already discussed on the forums and youtube - the web version of the game is f2p, but the Steam version - is a paid game (with NO microtransactions, of course). There were some bugs associated with this transition - for example if you don't have enough gold yet to get the item you want - a popup from f2p version of the game is opened and confuses people (but there're aren't any microtransactions, of course). We're fixing the text on the popup right now. Sorry! :) If you need a bit more gold for the item you want - you just need to level up or complete achievements a bit longer to get it. As you might already know, both Steam and web players play together (we hope this provides a better experience than empty Steam servers). During the weekend we did our regular "Hack'n'Slash" event, when players can test out all the weapons in the game, and around 1500 players from all platforms were simultaneously online. I understand that only a tiny fraction of those players are from Steam, but we're working to make everyone happy. Right now we're integrating Steam Achievements, if everything goes smooth - there will be an update during the next few days. I will be posting how the game progresses every few days to keep you updated. thanks, Slav
