Polygod Launches!

Polygod is live!
Early Access has finally come to an end. It has been an epic 2 year journey and we could not have done it without such a supportive community. We at Krafted Games thank you! :) Below is a list of all the polish that has been done in the days leading up to launch and includes all the bug fixes, balance changes and added content.

  • Trigger Happy does not take your Rate of Fire over the max Rate of Fire.
  • Changed the drop rates of Health Orbs in the later levels.
  • Changed the Behemoth's bullet speed.
  • Chaos Colossus has has his health knocked down to 2000000 HP. Multiplayer

  • News from Krafted!

    Hello Polygod Community! We at Krafted Games wanted to give an update on where we disappeared to for the last few months. Fear not! We have not forgotten about you. Over the last few months we have had our heads down working on getting Polygod ready for the Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. This unfortunately led to our wonderful Steam build getting neglected. However, this does not mean that Polygod development has been standing still. The game has been continuously worked on in the interim with our team trying our utmost to get this game as balanced and polished as possible. Updates will be coming soon so we ask for a bit more patience. Within the next couple of weeks we will be announcing a release date which we are extremely excited about seeing as it has been a 2 and a half year journey. Thank you for being such a dedicated community! :)

    Saved seeds + Bug Fixes!

    Hey everyone! Today's update is a rather small one with just a few fixes and one new feature: a seed-saving system. You can now save seeds that you like through the pause menu in-game, and the death screen. Your saved seeds are accessible in the Saved Seeds menu which is in the New Game menu. We hope you find this addition useful. As always, any and all feedback is welcome!

    • Fixed a bug where Second Self would not respawn you at the start of the dungeon in some levels.
    • Fixed a bug where you could not walk under the gun parts at the altars in level 5.

    NPC Update + Bug Fixes

    Hey everyone! Today’s update has something special in store for any player who’s ever been curious about the strange little folk in the Polyverse… That’s right, we’d added new NPC content!
    Dr Dando, everyone’s favourite nutty Zoologist, has some new information about the creatures in Polygod, and if you’re lucky, a tale about the origins of Faceless the First. It turns out he’s quite a chatty guy. Maya’s got some new musings, too, on her preferred topic of... you guessed it: FREEDOM! But will she ever actually be free as a bee? (Hint: yes. We game devs took pity on her and made it so.) If you care to chat to the other NPCs, I’m sure you’ll spot a new line here or there, or perhaps a pun that would even make Faceless facepalm.
    We've also changed the sizes of the levels: they no longer get bigger as you progress through the game. They're all the same size as the first level. Let us know how you find this change, as it will affect balance, difficulty and the time it takes to complete the game. Have fun!

    Balance Changes and Special Blessings!

    Today's patch is quite a large one where we have fixed a few bugs, improved the balance of the game and added two special state blessings which cannot be bought and can only be achieved by meeting specific requirements. However we are very excited to introduce the new content and fixes to the community!


    Blessed are the Meek



    Blessed are the Meek is a blessings bestowed to you by Truth who will increase your damage if your are on a level with a particularly under-powered weapon. We implemented this change to balance for players who received unfair or unworkable seeds due to a lack of base fire power. this also allows players to ride out weaker builds to a later stage in the game where they can acquire the damage at which blessed are the meek will no longer be active.

    Simple Sinner



    Simple sinner was created to encourage hardcore player and speed runners. After beating the first Holy Champion certain Faceless Ones (namely faceless Ones who don't have any blessings) will feel empowered and this resolve and inner strength will weaken future Holy Champions. This means it is now possible to beat the entire game without buying any blessings, this is of course very difficult.

    • Fixed a bug where the Submarine would not die from Truth Bomb.

    • Fixed a bug where if you take away a Blessing that increases your jump height, you would still have the increased jump height.
    • Fixed a bug where you could not quit Multiplayer when using a controller.
    • Fixed a bug where the player could not sacrifice Blessings at an Altar or a statue.
    • Fixed a bug where, if activated, right-click Blessings fire right after an altar.
    • Fixed a bug where Proximity Mines would not explode after time. They have been given a 20 second selfdestruct timer.
    • Fixed a bug where Vampiric Aura would ignore your health shield when losing health.
    • Fixed a bug where having Vampiric Aura and Unstable Concoction would lead to becoming invincible.
    • Fixed a bug where Furious Core would only increment your damage by 0.5 per stack. It now increments by 1 damage.
    • Fixed a bug where the explosion from Exploding Core would not damage enemies.
    • Fixed a bug where Hand of Chaos would double your damage per charge incorrectly.
    • Fixed a bug where having Adrenaline and Inconquerable Will or Adrenaline and Indomitable Will would incorrectly give you the extra fire rate and damage.
    • Fixed Inconquerable Will to reflect its counterpart Indomitable Will in terms of damage and rate of fire increases.
    • Fixed a bug where when receiving random new Blessings you could receive Boss Blessings. This has been changed.
    Balance Changes
    • Added an effect once Divine Truth is activated.
    • Adjusted the height of seed name in title screen.
    • Balanced the Rate of Fire to now steadily increase per level.
    Typos
    • Corrected the Blood Tax description from "taxes you 1 hp every 20s" to "taxes you 2 hp every 20s".
    • Corrected Faceless the Heavy's blessings in the Character Select screen to say Listless Core and not Heavy Core.
    • Corrected Furious Core's description to state "Damage done will max out after 3 hits". This has been changed from 5 hits.
    • Adjusted the press 'A' in the character select screen when a controller is connected.
    Splitscreen Coop
    • Changed the Splitscreen altar system to reflect the Online Multiplayer system.
    • Increased the minimum vertical x angle lock on the gun.
    • When starting a Splitscreen coop game, it will choose a random seed for the players.
    • Added a retry button for Splitscreen.
    • Fixed a graphic where the Babylon update had not been applied tothe Altar room or the End Door in Level 1.
    • Fixed a bug where the player could not advance past the Level 2 Boss Fight.
    • Fixed a bug where when transitioning levels, the fade was not alligned properly.
    • Fixed a bug where the players could not use right click powerups and could not switch between them.
    • Fixed a bug where Hand of Mazu and Spiritual Successor where not working in Splitscreen.
    • Added the new art style to coop.
    • When choosing a character, the camera will skip to your next unlocked character.

    New Artstyle and Boss Fight Fixes!

    Hello everyone, in today's patch we added a subtle outline to many of the objects to give the art style a more polished feel. This feature can be turned off in the main menu if you don't like it and prefer the previous look. We also added after images to the final boss fight in order to make predicting the teleportation patterns more readable.

    Truth Level! Level 7 Update!

    Hello everyone I'm very excited to introduce level 7. We've been working very long and hard on it and are excited to get community input.

    We have also added the last 12 blessings to the game giving us a total of 100 in game blessings!

    • Faceless the Soulless has been given the Vampiric Aura blessing in place of the Feeble Heart blessing. Its damage has been increased from 0.5 to 1, its hit points increased from 8 to 10 and its movement speed increased from 9 to 10.
    • Faceless the Foolish has been given the Feeble Heart blessing.
    • Faceless the Fury has been given the Torpedo Shot blessing in place of the Dragon's Breath blessing. Its movement speed has been decreased from 9 to 8.
    • Adjusted the Character Select Menu to make it easier for players to choose unlocked characters.
    • Added Pylons to the main floor of the Level 4 Boss Fight.
    • Added new teleport locations for the Level 6 Boss Fight.

    Level 7!
    • The Void of Truth has been added as the 7th and final level.
    • The UFO has been added with 1300HP.
    • The Jelly Ball has been added with 1400HP.
    • The Behemoth has been added with 1600HP.
    • The Droid has been added with 1250HP.
    • Spin the Truth has been added with 1800HP.
    • Truth offers the players 3 new Boss Blessings. Communism, Divine Truth and Bonus Blessing, these blessings are only available after beating the game in subsequent runs.
    • COMMUNISM causes all blessings to cost 15 souls. DEADLY DISCOUNTS will not affect the soul cost of blessings.
    • DIVINE TRUTH will kill all the enemies on the level once activated.You will not get any souls for killing the enemies with DIVINE TRUTH. To activate hold down right click for 1 second. Press TAB to toggle secondary fire.
    • BONUS BLESSING gives an altar a 10% chance of not destroying after a blessing has been purchased. This allows for another blessing to be purchased from that same altar.
    Added Content
    • The Blessing Sacrifice Menu for unlocking statues has been changed from a text-based system to an image-based system.
    • Added the Level 6 Red Boss Fight to Splitscreen Coop.
    • Added controller input for the melee attack. To activate the melee attack the player taps the right analog stick.
    • Added a Credits Scene.

    The final 9 non-boss Blessings have been added to the game!


    • Blood Tax - 10 souls - BLOOD TAX gives you double damage but will tax you 1 health every 20 seconds. Acquiring additional BLOOD TAX blessings will increase the damage multiplier by 1, and will tax you an additional 1 health every 20 seconds.
    • Inconquerable Will - 20 souls - INCONQUERABLE WILL increases your damage and rate of fire based on how close your health is to 100%. Acquiring additional INCONQUERABLE WILL blessings will increase the rate at which damage and rate of fire are increased.
    • Compound X81 - 10 souls - COMPOUND X81 increases your rate of fire by 2 for 10 seconds after you collect a health orb. Additional COMPOUND X81 blessings will increase the rate of fire bonus by 2.
    • Adrenaline - 10 Souls - ADRENALINE increases your movement speed by 2 for 10 seconds after you collect a health orb. Acquiring additional ADRENALINE blessings will increase the movement speed bonus by 2.
    • Compound X82 - 10 Souls - COMPOUND X82 increase your damage by 2 for 10 seconds after you collect a health orb. Acquiring additional COMPOUND X82 blessings will increase the damage bonus by 2.
    • Daily Blessing - 5 Souls - DAILY BLESSING doubles your damage and rate of fire for 10 seconds after you buy a blessing. Acquiring additional DAILY BLESSINGs will increase the time by 5 seconds.
    • Lucky Soul - 5 Souls - LUCKY SOUL destroys up to 5 random blessings and gives you 5 new random blessings.
    • Anesthetic - 10 Souls - ANESTHETIC increases your health by 10 for 10 seconds after you collect a health orb. Additional ANESTHETIC blessings will increase the bonus health by 10.
    • Proof of Stake - 25 Souls - PROOF OF STAKE gives you 1 bonus damage for every 10 souls you hold. Does not stack.

    Bug Fixes and Quality of Life


    Today's patch is mostly bug fixes with some typo corrections and some quality of life. We just wanted to fix some issues and get the build into a relatively stable condition before launching the seventh level and boss fight (which are almost ready).

    Big Balance Changes + Bug Fixes and some Polish!

    Hello everyone, today's patch has a bunch of balance changes designed to make some of the blessings which are chosen less often more viable. We have also added a bunch of new visual effects to make the results of what a blessing does more clear.

    Patch Notes


    Bug Fixes
    • Fixed a bug with Chaotic Corruption where only the original bullets get the damage increase.
    • Fixed a bug with Ark's narrative where the player would not keep the reward going into the next level.
    • Took away the steam particle effects in Level 3 as they were causing needless lag.
    Balance Changes
    • The max attack speed for the player has been changed from 20 bullets per second to 10 bullets per second.
    • Increased the bullet size of the Pill.
    • Changed the bullet colour of the Jawbreaker.
    • Changed the bullet colour of the Eyevern.
    • Changed the bullet colour and decreased the bullet size of the Zeppelin.
    • Changed the bullet colour of the Electro Walker.
    • Increased the bullet size of the Bishop.
    • Increased the bullet size of the Sphere'O Death.
    • The Grasschopper has been recoloured.
    • Torpedo Shot has been given a new behaviour. When Torpedo Shot is activated the layer takes over the control of the torpedo's flight. Time will not be paused during this time. Control of the character will be given back to the player once the torpedo has exploded.
    • Dragons Dash has been given a new behaviour. Dragons Dash now allows a player to teleport to a specific location. The player chooses that location by moving an after-image of a Faceless one with the mouse. Time will not be paused while Dragon's Dash is active.
    • Defensive Reaction has been given a cooldown. It starts with a 3 second cooldown and decreases depending on the amount of Defensive Reaction blessings the player has.
    • Copter Boot has been given a 3 second cooldown. The cooldown decreases with the amount of Copter Boots blessings the player has.
    • Chaos Armour has been given a change in percentage of damage reduction. It starts as a 20% damage reduction and increases by a further 10% for each additional Chaos Armour taken.
    • Arm of Chaos has been given a 1 second cooldown and now deals damage in a wider area.
    • Blood Tithe has been changed to a percentage chance of receiving health on hit.
    • Return Shot has been changed to now deal double damage on the returning bullet.
    • Updated the Split Screen character select to include all 15 characters.
    Added Content
    • Added a visual effect for when Critical Shot activates on an enemy.

    Massive Multiplayer Update!


    Today I'm very excited to bring you our largest and longest in development update yet! This update is all about Jolly Co-operation as we've finally completed the much requested Co-Op multiplayer option while also improving and polishing our multiplayer versus mode and other multiplayer features.

    Co-operative Multiplayer



    Players must work together to gather souls and acquire blessings in order to defeat the Holy Champions. The gods will offer the same blessings to players at a particular altar however if another player takes a particular blessing it will not be removed from the blessings on offer from the god. This is because the Gods can bestow infinite blessings and are not limited by mortals choices. Up to 4 players can play together in Co-Operative mode. The following blessings have been left out of Co-Op for complexity reasons and will be added in a future update: Whirlwind Shot, Stun Shot, Power Lease.

    Multiplayer Versus



    Multiplayer Versus has finally been reactivated with all the relevant single player blessings included. None of the boss blessings are available in versus mode as none of the players defeat any Holy Champions in this mode and the boss blessings can be quite unbalanced if used against other players. All playable characters are unlocked for all players while we test our multiplayer modes so that the Early Access community can help us balance all these characters. In the final release players will only be able to access characters they have unlocked in single player for multiplayer. Some single player blessings such as Select Next or Divine Intervention which only work with Altars have are not present in Versus mode. Private game functionality has been added to versus mode.

    New Characters!


    Hello everyone, today's update contains 7 new Faceless Ones that can be unlocked through two new sacrificial altars and the other 5 through beating the red various red portal bosses. Our primary focus has been on completing the multiplayer which is not quite finished yet but will definitely be ready next week. Instead we have this small content update with some new Faceless Ones to unlock.

    GUI Update and Bug Fixes!

    Hello everyone, today's patch comes with a lot of bug fixes and some improvements to the GUI.
    The biggest GUI change is that the blessings bestowed upon thee in the pause menu now features icons for which blessings you have instead of just text.

    Post Patch Balance and Bug Fixes!

    After every large update there are inevitably some bugs that we need to fix. Today's patch includes a lot of fixes and a small change to the balance.

    • Fixed a bug where when doing the Daily Dungeon the game would take you to the leaderboard after level 5 instead of 6.
    • Fixed a bug where acquiring too many of the whirlwind shot blessing while having the laser shots blessing would cause whirlwind shot to turn off
    • Fixed a bug where Catch22 would not correctly display on the GUI when active.
    • Fixed a bug where if you are able to knock the 6th Boss out of his arena he would fall indefinitely. He will now fall back into the arena if this happens.
    • Fixed a bug where Soul Core causing you to lose a soul would cause Trigger Happy to trigger.
    • Fixed a bug where losing souls would cause Trigger Happy to trigger.
    • Fixed a bug where having Spiritual Sucessor and Proximity Mines with Hand of Mazu would cause the clone bullets for the spiritual bullet to not occur.
    • Fixed a bug where certian enemies would spawn above the level1 height limit.
    • Fixed a bug where the Chaos Level power ups weren't spawning on other boss Altars after the Chaos boss had been defeated.

    The Chaotic Update!


    After far too long of a delay we are proud to introduce our biggest update yet, the Chaotic Update. In this update we have added the sixth level and boss fight, updated the random generation system, daily dungeon leaderboard, updated all the boss fights and prepared the servers for the upcoming online co-operative multiplayer update which has been a major undertaking.

    Level 6 Chaos the Abyss



    The most notable part of this update is the addition of level 6 and its respective boss fight. This level is called the Abyss of Chaos.

    New Boss Power ups with Chaos' Holy Champion!



    Chaotic Corruption Adds a damage multiplier to your bullets based on the distance the bullet has travelled. The shorter the distance the higher the multiplier. Does not stack.
    Chaos Armour Gives a 25% damage reduction. Acquiring additional Chaos Armour blessings will increase the percentage of damage reduction.
    Arm of Chaos Activates a melee attack when you tap the 'R' key. The melee attack kills beasts instantly. Arm of Chaos has a 10 second cooldown. Acquiring additional Arm of Chaos blessings will decrease the cooldown by 5 seconds.

    For the speed runners


    • Blessings are now linked to the dungeon seed. This means that for any particular seed the blessings which spawn will be the same every-time. The implication of this is that now for the daily dungeon the time that someone gets will be 100% representative of player skill as the only differentiating factors are player decisions.
    • Timelines built into the blessing link. We thought it would be fun to create alternate timelines which are triggered by using red portals (the harder alternative boss fights). When a red portal is used the future blessing spawns for a seed are changed according to a timeline with a red portal. Every-time a red portal is used a new timeline opens up with a different set of blessings unique to that seed. This means that speed runners should optimally check all the alternate timelines to find the most efficient combinations of blessings for a particular seed in order to get the best time possible.

    Boss Health bars


    We thought it was about time we added names to our bosses as well as on screen health bars for them. The health bar is visible in the bottom right hand of the screen creating a diagonal symmetry with the player health bar.

    Multiplayer temporarily disabled for Online Co-op Preparation


    We have made huge amounts of progress in the complicated endeavour of adding full online cooperative multiplayer functionality to the game. We are almost ready to add Online Co-op to the working build but want to perform a few more tests first. We have temporarily disabled the multiplayer menu while we work on the servers and stress test them for the co-op implementation which will also include an update to the multiplayer versus mode. This implementation is planned for our next update!

    Patch Notes


    Bug Fixes
    • Fixed the Catch22 Blessing. When active it was previously giving a 5x damage increase. It has now been changed to match the description in giving a 2.2x damage increase.
    • The pathfinding system has been optimised which will increase the performance of the game on lower-end computers. This also means the dungeon sizes have been increased for all the levels.
    • The random generation system has been optimised. This has improved the randomness of the levels.
    • Fixed a bug where NPCs and the Mini Jellyfish would get infinite health when the player had the Unstable Soul blessing.
    Balance Update
    • Increased the weight of the Sphere'O (Level 1) and the Jawbreaker (Level 1) so the push back from getting shot is not so drastic.
    • Level variety has been increased through the introduction of new enemy engagement scenarios on the earlier levels.
    Level 6
    • Chaos' Abyss has been added as the 6th level.
    • Chaos' Holy Champion has arrived. Chaos' Colossus has entered the building.
    • The Bishop has been added with 1150 HP.
    • The Chaos Staff has been added with 1200 HP.

    • The Chaos Copter has been added with 1700 HP.
    • Chaos has offered three new Boss Blessings: Chaos Armour, Arm of Chaos and Chaotic Corruption.

    Babylon Update!


    Today's patch has a very exciting major visual update! We've adjusted the random generation algorithm for level one to make it more green and garden-like.


    Another significant change was the addition of the seed to the pause menu so that players can always check what seed they are currently on.

    Speed Running


    Speed running is something we really want to focus on from a development perspective which is why we thought it would be fun to share a speed run with the community. The speed run was done by our intern James. This speed run completes the current version of the game in an extremely fast 9 in game minutes.     Bug Fixes and Sound Effects + Balance Changes!

    Hello everyone, this update is a simple one fixing some of the bugs while also balancing the game a bit more. We are currently working towards a larger update for the next level.

    • Fixed a bug where the Rollerball (Level 3) and the Level 3 Boss Small Eyes would become invincible if the player had the Unstable Soul Boss Blessing.
    • Adjusted the descriptions of Healthy Core and Heavy Heart to fit in the Blessing description area.
    • When dealing with altars, the name of the God changes depending on what level the player is currently in.
    • Fixed a bug with Will of Raika where it would not increase the stats of the player when chosen.
    • Fixed a bug in Local Co-op where the Blessing icons on screen were incorrectly positioned and sized.
    • Fixed a bug in Local Co-op where the players' soul count would reset at every Room of Rest.
    • Fixed a bug in Local Co-op where the player would not get souls if they had the Proximity Mines Blessing.

    • However due to its rare occurrence we are unable to replicate it for testing.

    Balance Updates
    • Balanced the Level 4 Boss Fight.
    • Blood Tithe has been adjusted to have a 20% chance to heal the player for 1 hit point on the death of an enemy. This is a change from the previous system which gave a 5% chance to heal the player on each hit.
    • Blood Tithe's cost has been reduced to 15 souls.
    • Unstable Concoction has been adjusted so that it explodes into 3 pieces of shrapnel. It was previously 5 pieces of shrapnel. Acquiring additional
    • Unstable Concoction Blessings will increase the amount of shrapnel by 3.
    • Pulsating Core has had its transparency increased.
    • No Chance now stacks with itself. It previously did not.
    • Dragons Dash has had its description corrected. It now states the player must tap the "shift" key to activate.
    Sound Update
    • The Laser Shot sound effect has been updated.
    • Proximity Mines has been given its own sound effect.

    Post Patch Bug Fixes!

    Hello everyone, today we have a small update with some fixes to a couple of bugs that were introduced by the update.

    Bug Fixes
    • Fixed a bug where a damage value of 0 would be shown instead of minimum damage.
    • Fixed a bug where the screen has permanent chromatic aberration if the player has a minimum damage of 0.5.
    • The descriptions for Heavy Heart, Healthy Core, Heavy Coil and Exploding Core have been realigned.
    • Fixed a bug where the player loses souls with Life Insurance even with an active health shield. Losing health from the health shield has now been prioritised.
    • Fixed a bug where if the player falls through the floor and has less than 5 souls, a negative soul count appears. Souls now floor at 0.
    • Fixed the Select Blessing menus for controller support. You are now able to move freely through a Select Blessing menu using a controller.
    • Fixed an issue with not being able to post a high-score to the Leaderboard after completing a Daily Dungeon.

    Quality of Life Update + New Blessings!

    Hello everyone. Today we have quite a big update! It's filled with tons of community suggestions and balance changes as we really wanted to focus on the player quality of life with update and wanted to improve a lot of little aspects of the game which should make play-throughs more enjoyable.

    UI Changes - Mouse Over for description



    When choosing a blessing the menu has been changed from a text based list to a visual grid of blessing icons. When you hover over a blessing the description will now appear. This is to ensure that new players who don't yet know all the blessings can choose wisely in these circumstances.
    In the pause menu if you hover your mouse over the blessing names you will now see the blessing description.

    Health Shield


    A Health Shield has been added to the game which allows players to store up to 10 extra health orbs when their health is maxed. If you take damage when holding extra health orbs you will lose the extra orbs before losing health. You can now shoot health orbs to get health from them.

    10 new Blessings have been added



    Heavy Coil Cost: 10 souls HEAVY COIL greatly increases your rate of fire by 2. However, it decreases your movement speed by 1.
    Heavy Core Cost: 10 souls HEAVY CORE greatly increases your damage by 2. However, it decreases your movement speed by 1.
    Feeble Feet Cost: 10 souls FEEBLE FEET greatly increases your movement speed by 2. However, it decreases your damage by 1.
    Listless Feet Cost: 10 souls LISTLESS FEET greatly increases your movement by 2. However, it decreases your rate of fire by 1.
    Metallic Feet Cost: 10 souls METALLIC FEET increases your movement speed and rate of fire by 1. However, it decreases your damage by 2.
    Light Feet Cost: 10 souls LIGHT FEET greatly increases your movement speed by 2 and your jump height. However, it decreases your rate of fire by 1. Acquiring additional LIGHT FEET blessings will activate double jump.
    Healthy Core Cost: 10 souls HEALTHY CORE increases your damage by 1 and hit points by 10. However, it decreases your movement speed and rate of fire by 1.
    Unhoy Quick Core Cost: 5 souls UNHOLY QUICK CORE greatly increases your damage and movement speed by 2. However, it decreases your maximum hit points by 8 and your rate of fire by 1.
    Religious Core Cost: 5 souls RELIGIOUS CORE drastically increases your damage by 3. However, it decreases your maximum hit points by 8, your rate of fire by 1 and your movement speed by 1.
    Quiet Coil Cost: 10 souls QUIET COIL drastically increases your rate of fire by 3. However, it greatly decreases your damage by 2 and decreases your movement speed by 1.

    • Fixed a bug where the player stats were not displaying in the Pause Menu.
    • Whenever you get a damage upgrade the colour of the bullet changes. It previously only worked for Bullet Core.
    • Fixed a bug where you could hear the altar drone throughout the level. They now work on a proximity based system.
    • Fixed a bug where Heart for Dance would damage you as you landed in the beginning of a level.
    • Fixed a bug where the blood balls from the The Mozzie would not despawn if you killed it before the blood balls made it back to it.
    • Fixed a bug where the souls text would be incorrectly sized while using a select Blessing.
    Balance Update
    • The bullet speed of the player has been increase from 55 to 100.
    • The Spyder's hitboxes have been increased.
    • The Grasschopper's hitbox have been increased.
    • The Bee's hitbox has been increased.
    • The Butterfly's speed has been decreased from 8 to 6.
    • The Grasschopper's speed has been decreased from 15 to 13.
    • Extended the fade time between the 3 different layers of music during a level.
    • Blood Tithe has been changed from a 10 percent chance of healing the player to a 5 percent chance.
    • Flaming Core now does the player damage per second rather than doing 1 damage per second.
    • Indomitable Will now increases your rate of fire and damage based on percentage missing rather than being based on hit points missing.
    • Medical Insurance now increases the chance of health orbs dropping by 20% rather than the previous 10%.
    • Hand of Raika's chance of a killshot has been decreased from 10% to 5%.
    • Power Lease has been changed to last till the next Room of Rest you encounter. This means it will be now be available during boss fights.
    • Defensive Reaction does player damage only, whereas it previously took on bullet modifier effects such as Blood Tithe.
    • Dragons Dash is now activated by hitting the "shift" key.
    • Electro Shot has been changed from a 5x damage increase to an instakill.
    • The Level 4 Boss will now adjust its speed based on the players speed.
    • In the Pause Menu whilst viewing blessings, you can now hover over a blessing and the blessing name, icon and description will appear.
    Description Changes
    • All Blesssings that alter stats have had numbers put into their descriptions.
    • Hand of Chaos' description has had been changed to include "Acquiring additional HAND OF CHAOS blessings will increase the number of times you can pray.".
    • Proximity Mines' description has been changed to include "Acquiring additional PROXIMITY MINES blessings will increase the range that the mines will travel when shot.".
    • Unstable Concoction's description has been changed to include "Acquiring additional UNSTABLE CONCOCTION blessings will increase thhe number of shrapnel pieces the bullet will let off.".
    • Ethreal Bullets' description has been changed to include "Acquiring additional ETHREAL BULLETS blessings will increase the number of enemies the bullet will pass through."
    • Exploding Core's description has been changed to include "Acquiring additional EXPLODING CORE blessings will increase the explosion radius."
    • In Blood Tithe's description "Aquire" has been changed to "Acquire".
    • "Does not stack." has been added to Battle Rage, No Chance, Spiritual Successor, Third Eye, Defensive Reaction, Copter Boots, Hand of Raika and Unstable Soul.
    Sound Update
    • The Pill has been given a shooting sound effect.

    • The Butterfly's rate of fire decreased from 1 shot every 0.5s to 1 shot every 0.75s.
    • The Mosquito's speed increased from 4 to 8.
    • The Mosquito's rate of fire increased from 1 shot every second to 1 shot every 0.4s.
    • The Electro Walker's rate of fire increased from 1 shot every 0.5s to 1 shot every 0.2s.
    • The Mortar Boat's attack range increased from 15 to 25.
    • The Pain Pill's rate of fire reduced from 1 shot every 0.4s to 1 shot every 0.55s.

    Split Screen Co-Op + Stats in Menus!

    Hello everyone, I'm very excited about today's update! We are introducing the first phase of the much awaited Co-Operative Multiplayer update which is split screen local Co-op. This allows us to deliver co-op content to the community while we work on getting the implementation working online. We have also added player stats to the menus so that it's now easier to track how different blessings affect your build.

    • Fixed a bug where if you clicked "Back" after submitting a new time after completing the Daily Dungeon it would take you to the 2nd Level title screen.
    • Fixed a bug where the Eyevern in Level 3 would turn invisible when you hit it from a certain range.
    • Fixed a bug where the Multi Launcher in Level 2 would hit you with his pulses when he was under the the platforms and couldn't see you.
    • Fixed the invincible Spike Balls in Level 3. Took out a stray boss altar in Level 5 Room of Rest.

    • When choosing a character you can now see the character's relative stats and blessings.

    Leaderboard + Red Portal Bosses!


    Hello everyone, today we have an exciting update! We've added a leaderboard for daily dungeon competition and created 4 alternative boss fights for the bosses from levels 2-5.

    Red Portal Boss Fights


    Red portals have a chance to spawn in any given level and will take you to a harder version of that level's boss. Beating the harder boss will earn you two boss blessings instead of the usual one. The red portals are optional and should only be attempted if you are up to the challenge.


    Leaderboard


    The leaderboard can be accessed from the main menu. Only players who beat the game using the daily dungeon or daily seed will be added to the leaderboard. The daily dungeon/seed is the same generation for all players world wide for 24 hours, this way players can compete with each other to see who can get the fastest time for any given daily dungeon.

    I also just wanted to update everyone as to what we will be focusing on for the rest of January. We are currently in the process of finishing local split screen co-operative multiplayer and intend to finish this as well as online co-operative multiplayer by the end of January or early February.

    • Fixed an issue where controller inversion was opposite to mouse axis.

    Controller Support, NPC Update + New Level Colour Pallets!

    Happy New Year to everyone! I hope everybody has had a great holiday season and I'm excited to bring you todays update. Our dedicated community has grown so much over the period and we are very happy!
    The first change was the addition of Colour Pallets to the levels. This change was suggested by a member of the community and we liked it so much that we just had to implement it. From now on each level will randomly generated as one of 4 colour pallets providing additional visual variety to the levels which will especially benefit players who are stuck in the earlier stages.



    NPC Update


    Introducing Dr Dando and the Mysterious Tau. These two have some new information about this strange other world that you constantly find yourself in.
    Brontes has also received an extreme makeover and now features a higher polygon count.

    Controller Support


    The largest piece of content from the update is the addition of Partial Controller Support. We designed the system to work with Xbox 360 controllers and are currently in the process of acquiring a Steam Controller in order to make sure that everything works smoothly on all controller types. You will still need a mouse and keyboard to launch the game and select quality and resolution settings and the controller support hasn't been fully implemented with the multiplayer menus. However controllers will work on all the main single player menus and the main game experience.

    E on keyboard is 'A' on Xbox 360 TAB on keyboard is 'RB' on Xbox 360 ESC on keyboard is 'B' on Xbox 360 SPACE on keyboard is 'LEFT TRIGGER' on Xbox 360 MOUSE-CLICK on mouse is 'RIGHT TRIGGER' on Xbox 360 RB and LB on Xbox 360 are also used to toggle blessings options at an Altar. Justifying Jump on Left Trigger The reason the jump button has been default mapped to left trigger instead of the standard 'A' button was so that players can have both thumbs on the analog sticks while also being able to jump so that they can smoothly adjust the game camera and their own guns aim while also being able to dodge and shoot unhindered.

    Hello everyone, so we spent the weekend trawling the forums and wanted to just release a quick bug fixes patch covering some of the issues that were uncovered after our most recent update. This patch also includes some balance changes in accordance with your feedback.

    • Fixed a bug with the Level 5 boss hit detection.
    • Fixed a bug where the Hand of Raika, Will of Raika and Unstable Soul would disappear when going through a portal.

    • Fixed a bug where the Yellow Submarine wasn't able to shoot at the player because of its increased hitbox size.

    RAIKA's RAINFOREST - New Level + Boss + Blessings!


    Hello everyone! I'm very proud to announce our biggest update yet which is RAIKA's RAINFOREST! The level introduces 5 new enemy types, a new boss fight, a new room of rest and 3 boss blessings associated with the new boss. The engagement from the community has always been amazing and I want to encourage everyone to leave as much feedback as possible about the new level as it really helps us out!

    We have also been listening to the community attentively and have reworked the level 1 music after having received some constructive criticism.     Hand of Raika
    HAND OF RAIKA gives your bullets a 10% chance to instantly kill what they hit. HAND OF RAIKA does not stack with NO CHANCE. Unstable Soul
    UNSTABLE SOUL causes beasts you destroy to explode as you claim their souls. The explosion will damage nearby beasts. Will of Raika
    WILL OF RAIKA increases your rate of fire, damage and movement speed.

    Post Patch Bug Fixes!

    Hello everyone after a successful update we received a lot of feedback and wanted to quickly address some of the bugs the community helped us find!

    Patch Notes


    Bug Fixes
    • The Time Bomb blessing has been nerfed to shoot less bullets in its time frame. This was done to fix latency issues.
    • Fixed a bug where level 4 enemies would shoot off randomly in the beginning of the level due to its placement.
    • Fixed a bug where Killshot & Defensive Reaction would insta kill all the enemies that come into contact with it. Now only one enemy gets killshot and the rest take normal damage.
    • Fixed a bug where Faceless the Friendly would appear multiple times in Level 4.
    • Fixed a bug where the player's blessings would not show up when trying to sacrifice a blessing while interacting with Faceless the Friendly.
    • Fixed a bug where continuous use of Unstable Concoction throughout the levels would lead to extreme lag making it impossible to carry on playing.
    • Fixed a bug where Boss Blessings would appear when choosing/destroying blessings at a normal altar.
    • Implemented a system where if you fall off the edge after killing a boss, you respawn by the portal.
    • Fixed a bug where the player would sacrifice blessings to statues and then get those blessings back after heading through a portal. The player now permanently loses any blessings sacrificed.
    • Fixed a bug where you could farm souls with the Soul Core blessing in the Rooms of Rest. Soul Core has been disabled in all the Rooms of Rest.
    • Fixed a bug where you could play out Bran's questline with another
    • Faceless One without having the proper blessing equipped.
    • Statues of Fallen Ones do not appear again once they have been unlocked.
    • We have changed the shade of brown of the walls in Level 1 to a more vibrant brown to differ it from the trees in Level 1 and to tie in more to the game aesthetic.

    Super Serious Sound, Boss Blessings + Fallen Faceless Ones!


    This update is the biggest one we've done to date and most of the content was inspired by this community! Thank you!

    Super Serious Sound!


    Today we are addressing many of the sound requests that have been expressed on the community hub. We have implemented sound effects for all enemies except for the Butterfly and the Suicide Spiders. We have also added in a new on-death sound.

    The Fallen Faceless Ones!



    There are now other playable characters which are Fallen Faceless Ones who must be awoken through either sacrifice or a showcase of great skill. We have introduced 7 new playable characters, 4 of which are unlocked by making sacrifices to statues, 1 is unlocked by beating the game, 1 is unlocked by defeating a certain boss in a spectacular fashion and the last is unlocked by defeating a harder version of the first Holy Champion which can be found by going through a red portal which has a small chance of spawning on level 1. 16 New Achievements have been added to the game to go with the new characters and content.

    Boss Blessings!


    We have now added 12 new specialised boss blessings. Players will be able to choose a blessing from a boss altar after killing a Holy Champion. Killing a Holy Champion for the first time unlocks 3 blessings which are unique to that Holy Champion. Once unlocked, these blessings will be put into the boss blessing pool which you then have access to every time you commune at a boss altar. Boss blessings will not cost the player anything as they are rewards for defeating the Holy Champion. Dragons Breath
    Dragons Breath emulates the attack of the first Holy Champion. Right click to activate Dragons Breath. Dragons Breath has a 20 second cooldown. Acquiring additional Dragons Breath blessings will decrease the cooldown by 5 seconds. Second Self
    Upon death Second Self decreases your max hit points by half and you respawn with replenished hit points. Stacks with itself. Dragons Dash
    Dragons Dash allows you a temporary speed boost when you double tap the 'W' key. This lasts for 5 seconds and will refresh every 20 seconds. Acquiring additional Dragons Dash blessings will decrease the refresh time by 5 seconds. Time Bomb
    Time Bomb freezes time for 5 seconds when you right click. While time is frozen nothing can move, however, you can aim and shoot bullets which will remain suspended in the air until time is unfrozen. Time Bomb has a 95 second cooldown. Acquiring additional Time Bomb blessings will decrease the cooldown by 10 seconds. Electro Shot
    Electro Shot creates an energy ball when you right click. The energy ball will charge for 0.4 seconds and then fire out a high damage energy beam. Defensive Reaction
    Defensive Reaction causes you to let out a pulse of energy every time you take damage. Torpedo Shot
    Torpedo Shot fires a torpedo that will fly towards the nearest enemy when you right click. Torpedo Shot has a 20 second cooldown. Acquiring additional Torpedo Shot blessings will decrease the cooldown by 5 seconds. Third Eye
    Third Eye summons an eye turret with a specific fire rate that shoots the nearest enemy. Acquiring additional Third Eye blessings will increase the fire rate of the eye turret. Wrathful Endeavor
    Wrathful Endeavor causes explosions to randomly spawn around you for 5 seconds when you right click. The explosions will not hurt you. Wrathful Endeavor has a 20 second cooldown. Acquiring additional Wrathful Endeavor blessings will decrease the cooldown by 5 seconds. Regenerative Carapace
    Regenerative Carapace heals 1 hit point every 10 seconds. Acquiring additional Regenerative Carapace blessings will decrease the time between each point of regeneration. Heart of Death
    Upon death Heart of Death respawns you with replenished hit points. Stacks with itself. Copter Boots
    Copter Boots gives you the ability to fly for short bursts. Hold down spacebar after jumping to activate Copter Boots. Landing on solid ground will refuel your Copter Boots.

    Balance changes and Bug Fixes!

    Hello everyone, todays update is mostly balance changes with a few bug fixes and a change to the pause menu for better conveyance. We are also excited to state that the next planned update will feature a lot of new content and a form of a progression system which was much requested by the community. The most visual change in today's update is the change to the pause menu which will now display Faceless the Blessed next to the menu buttons.

    Patch Notes


    General Changes
    • Torpedo sound effect has been reduced in relation to other sound effects.
    • Torpedos have been given tracers to showcase their flight path more clearly and make their presence more obvious to the player.
    Bug Fixes
    • Fixed a bug where exploding core would push certain monsters back too far.
    • Fixed a bug where killshot would work only on the third boss.
    • Fixed a bug where exploding core would make Kanox drift off into space.
    Balance Changes
    • The level 4 enemies and boss fight have been altered in accordance to a balance change made to the blessing Catch 22 in order to encourage more varied play styles. The balance of both the level and power up have been changed quite dramatically.
    • Catch 22 has had its damage multiplier reduced from 5 to 2.2.
    • The bees in the 4th boss fight have been made significantly more aggressive to make the fight more challenging.
    • The 4th Holy Champion has had it’s Health reduced from 25000 to 15000 hit points.
    • Stun shot no longer works on Holy Champions as this coupled with certain builds trivialized certain boss fights.
    • Butterfly HP has been reduced from 400 to 150.
    • Grass Choppers HP has been reduced from 650 to 190.
    • Laser Fly HP has been reduced from 450 to 175.
    • Zeppelins HP has been reduced from 800 to 400.
    UI Changes
    • “BLESSINGS BESTOWED UPON THEE” will now always display in the pause menu even if you have no blessings, this change has been made because some players hadn’t realized that they could check which blessings they have in the pause menu.
    • Faceless the Blessed will now be displayed in the pause menu so players can see themselves while paused. This also allows players to see the gun they have constructed from other angles.

    Hello everyone, your feedback has been amazing and has really helped us find a lot of bugs and address them. Here is a list of the latest updates and fixes.

    Patch Notes


    • Fixed a bug where quitting to title in level would load the retry functionality.
    • Fixed a bug where the footsteps and jumping sound were too loud in relation to the other sound effects.
    • Changed the in air movement system to give the player more control. From now on the player has full movement control in air as they would on the ground. This means players can jump in one direction while shooting in another direction without having the mouse movement change the direction of jump travel. Players can now also stop dead during a jump arc by releasing the movement keys, this is useful for if the player wants to land very accurately and a full jump arc would overshoot (this helps particularly at high speeds).     • Corrected spelling in game from “INDOMNITABLE WILL” to “INDOMITABLE WILL” in certain menus.
    • “Does not stack with Laser Shots.” has been added to power ups whose effects are incompatible with laser shots because light speed breaks the physics of the combined effects.

    Seeded Generation, new Blessings and UI updates!

    Hello everyone, the community response has been tremendous and instrumental in helping us get these updates to you frequently! Todays update comes in three parts: new Blessings (which were submitted by community members), seeded generation in the levels and a blessing commune UI revamp. We also addressed a fair amount of the bugs which were reported and have been working our best to squash them all! Any and all bug reports help tremendously.

    Seeded Generation!


    You can now seed levels in order to retry a dungeon you played which you thought was extra hard or had some unique feature you want to share. You can name the seed anything and it will generate a play-through based on your choice. You can also randomize the seed to try out different seeded generations which you may want to come back to. We have also included a daily seed feature which lets you play a consistent random generation for 24 hours. This way players can compete to see who can do the daily seed the fastest. Seed generation also helps with bug testing because if you encounter an issue in a specific generation you can easily share the seed on the forums and we will be able to see the error in the dungeon it occurred in.     UI Changes!


    The commune blessing menu has been updated, the back and next bars have been removed in favour of a more visual design.

    4 New Blessings!


    All 4 blessings which are being added to the game today were submitted by community members. Shout outs to @Sid and @mjmoneghan for the ideas which were submitted in the blessings and balance ideas section of the community hub. Soul Core
    Soul Core causes each bullet you fire to cost a soul. However upon killing an enemy you will gain souls equal to the number of times you hit that enemy + 2 extra souls. Acquiring additional Soul Core blessings will increase the number of extra souls. Costs 10 souls. Light Heart
    Light Heart increases your hit points and jump height but decreases your rate of fire. Acquiring additional will activate double jump. Costs 10 souls. Blood Sacrifice
    Blood Sacrifice will give you a random blessing in exchange for 2 maximum hit points. Impact Boots
    Impact Boots will cause you to release a burst of bullets in all directions whenever you fall from a height of one storey or greater. Acquiring additional impact boots will increase the number of bullets released. Costs 10 souls.

    Patch Notes


    • Reduced health of Sphere O' (floating mine in level 1) from 7 to 6.
    • Added Impact boots blessing.
    • Added Soul Core blessing.
    • Added Blood Sacrifice blessing.

    • Fixed free lunch not filling health bug.
    • Fixed Aerial Bias bug where enemies which died in other ways would cause you to fail the achievement, this is no longer the case.

    • Fixed a bug with iFrames where high damage rounds could trigger false invincibility.
    • Fixed a bug where sound effects wouldn't change to the correct volume if changed from the pause menu.
    • Fixed a bug where music wouldn't change to the correct volume if changed from the pause menu.
    • Adjusted the UI system for Blessing communing to be more user friendly and minimalist.

    Hot Fixes to Achievement update!

    Hey everyone, just wanted to upload a small patch with some hot fixes for yesterdays update. I've also added a retry button to the death screen due to popular request.

    Patch Notes


    • Fixed a bug where the gardener achievement would activate incorrectly when you would use a portal.
    • Fixed a bug where the game would exit to the main menu after beating a boss instead of dropping the player into the room of rest.
    • Fixed a bug where NPC's would respawn in the room of rest.
    • Fixed a bug where the Polygod achievement wouldn't activate upon beating the game.
    • Added a retry button to the death screen.
    • Fixed a bug where the music and sound effects sliders would randomly de-sync after using a menu.
    • Adjusted the jump pads in the level 4 boss fight to accommodate for slow movement speed builds.

    Achievements, Trading Cards, Linux Love and Bug Fixes!

    Hey everyone, it's been amazing getting so much feedback from such an active and helpful community!

    Achievements and Trading Cards


    I'm excited to announce that Achievements and Trading Cards have been added to the game this patch. We've introduced 7 Trading Cards and 20 Achievements so far, the plan is to add many more achievements over the course of many frequent updates. If you have any ideas for achievements please let me know!




    Linux Love


    The next big thing that has been added to Polygod is Linux Love! I would love any and all feedback from the Linux users in the community with regard to bug testing and making sure that the Linux version is up standard!

    Options Menu Update


    The options menu has been updated to include Music, Sound Effects and Mouse Sensitivity sliders. The sliders have also been added to the games pause menu so that this can be changed on the fly.

    • Fixed a bug where level 2 art assets would block jump pads.
    • Fixed a bug with multiplayer where matches would time out and randomly drop people.
    • Pressing 'E' while paused near an altar will no longer open the blessing menu.
    • Level 4 boss fight jump pads have been adjusted to prevent players from not being able to complete the jump.
    • Fixed a bug where combing bubble bullets with certain blessings would cause lag spikes.
    Balance Changes
    • Power Swop soul price increased by 5 souls to 20 souls.
    • Random Swop soul price increased by 5 souls to 15 souls.
    • Divine Intervention soul price increased by 5 souls to 30 souls.
    • Increased player invincibility frames from 3 to 5.
    • Butterfly Health has been lowered from 600 to 400.
    • Blood Tithe soul price increased by 10 souls to 20 souls.
    • Sphere O' (Level 1 Mine Enemy) has had its attack speed reduced from a 0.22 second delay between shots to a 0.25 second delay between shots.
    Most of the feedback and bug fixes have come from the community reporting things that they have found, it's really helpful to me when you guys do this! Thanks so much and please let me know how you find the patch.

    Last 24 Hours for Binding of Isaac Promotion! (OFFICIALLY OVER)

    Hey everyone, It's been amazing handing out keys to such crazy dedicated and downright talented players! All in all I've handed out over 1750 Steam Keys so far. I just wanted to let everyone know that the friend requests have slowed down quite a lot since we got all that amazing media coverage and we will be stopping the promotion when our 10% off launch promotion ends, which is at 9:00AM PDT.     Invincibility Frames! + Bug Fixes

    Hey everyone, thanks so much for the amazing feedback and community response it's really been amazing! I wanted to do a quick patch addressing the most prominent things people addressed before I do a much larger update at the end of the week which will include some more content. The most prominent change everyone asked for was the addition of invincibility frames, I can completely see why this change would suit Polygod and have implemented it.

    Patch Notes


    • Invincibility frames have been added to combat. Specifically 3 frames of invincibility after you have been hit.
    • The GUI for the cross-hair has been updated to be significantly more accurate, it has also been adjusted to 100% accurate with Laser Shots at longer distances.
    • Laser shots has had a bug fixed where if you missed an object the laser beam would not spawn. The beams always spawn regardless of whether you hit or not.
    • It was discovered that you could exit the level and go back to the most recent room of rest, this was not intended, exiting the level (or boss fight) is considered a forfeit and you must restart the game (this is a rogue-like). This was due to a save load error, the error has been addressed and the system will work as follows. In the room of rest you can at any time exit the game and continue your current play-through from that room of rest at a later stage, however if you are in the game level or a boss fight and choose to quit to title this will be considered a forfeit and you will be sent back to the beginning of the game. The GUI in the pause menu will reflect this change with different text namely it will say "SAVE AND QUIT TO TITLE" when in a room of rest and "QUIT TO TITLE" in any other location.
    Please keep the feedback coming it is hugely helpful! I have added all other received feedback to a long list I'm working through for the next big update.

    Description
    Polygod is a rogue-like, randomly generated FPS where you are an assassin known only as "Faceless the Blessed". You must battle the minions of malignant Gods and their Holy Champions in an epic event known as the Trial of the Gods. Each level is randomly generated and features successive Altars of Worship where you exchange your Souls for Blessings (which are like power ups). Blessings combine and stack to create unique effects which will help you survive the brutal challenges in your quest to attain Godhood. In the PolyGod universe, death is necessarily permanent but with each new game comes a unique first-time experience. The art style is inspired by the meta-physical surrealist artist Giorgio de Chirico who is famously revered for his eerie mood and strange artificiality of cityscapes.

    Polygod also features Arena Shooter multi-player with randomly generated maps and a variety of planned game modes. Currently in Early Access, players can play free for all matches on randomly generated maps where the first person to a set number of kills is the victor. Future planned game modes include team death-match and a variation of capture the flag, involving altars and blessings.
