Greetings fellow Adventurers!
It's been a while since us, the humble servants of the King, have spoken to you... We didn't have much to say, but we have been quietly watching you from the castle's highest tower all along, you know... Your deads in the Kingdom haven't gone unnoticed, rest assured! Many of you have chosen the path of the true good, many others that of the most evil, and some something in between... yet all of you contributed equally to make Just One Line one of the best of its kind thanks to your feedback, to your content shared online, and to the many hours you have played the game. Thank you!
But now, it is time for Just One Line, to make another step forward, as we would really love more people to have the opportunity to enjoy the game, to grow our community and make its playerbase bigger still. We are glad to announce that in the very near future, Just One Line is going free here on Steam! You don't hear such a news frequently... but you heard it right! Just One Line is going free to play! And no! You -new and old players- will still be able to play the game as it currently is, no in-app purchases will be added to game as of the current content of the game (start to finish, all unlocks and achievements).
But please, all of you who are going to get it for free, are indeed encouraged to at least spread the word about this incredible text-adventure 2.0 .
Drinks are on us!
Thank you all and see you in the Kingdom!
- The humble servants of the King

Greetings, fellow Adventurers!
It's been a while, isn't it? We have been working very hard on the next big update that will... Well, the title says it all... Just One Line has left Early Access and is officially a fully released title now! Cheers, all hail the King!
We are profoundly moved and excited about this date and we hope you are excited too! You got to be!
It is worth noting though, that this is a huge milestone for Just One Line but it is not nearly the end of its story! We have envisioned JOL as an ever-growing game both in updates and in its content. We could have gone on forever developing and adding new content, but we realized that the game is solid and it fulfills most of the expectations you and us have set. We believe Just One Line is now ready, solid, stable, polished and rich in content. We will continue to update and patch the game but it is also your turn, Adventurers, to make this game even better: you have the tools (Quest Editor, Contests, etc) and a community to join (Discord and the Steam Community Hub)!
But that's not just like "Hey, we are leaving Early Access" and that's it. Not at all! We said we feel the game is ready for its big time, but that would not be true without a huge update to back it up! In fact, we are glad to announce that we have just shipped the biggest update we have ever shipped to our game! Get ready for Just One Line version 1.0.1!
(We realize that there are quite a lot of exclamation marks in the present announcement... but we could barely contain the excitement. We hope you feel the same! Darn, there it is one more.)
Please note: Early Access game saves and profile progress are still compatible. However, if you have a game session with an active adventurer, we recommend to start anew to fully benefit from the new update

We have great news to share with you today: we are glad to announce the first release of the Just One Line - Community Quest Editor (JCQE)!

Greetings Adventurers! We have just released a new patch (v. 0.12.0.1), we have fixed a few annoying bugs with dead ends during the quests (thanks to Shattered Seraph) and updated the whole quest library to match the game balance changes of the previous update. Enjoy! - The King's humble servants.

Greetings Adventurers,
Today's announcement is very hot!
Get ready for a whole new game experience in Just One Line thanks to many changes in the game balance. We are calling it "The Prohibitionist Update" as it shifts focus from relying -almost entirely- on drinks for power-ups to switching and upgrading gear instead. The Armory inventory has been completely updated in stats and prices in order to improve the longevity of the game and to set targets (weapons, armors or trinkets) for the players to reach more gradually than before. The game should feel more "right", challenging and rewarding now.
This is our first attempt to achieve the best game balance possible but it will not be the last. As the quest library grows many other changes will be made along the way. If you have not been visiting the Inn for a long while, this is your great opportunity to play Just One Line once again! We will wait for your feedback and thoughts on our Community Hub and Discord. And if you happen to be a new player, your opinion matters as much!
Please Note: we advise to retire any active Adventurer and start a new game altogether to fully appreciate the changes of this update, even if you just started a new game before the update. Should you encounter any major blocking issue, try using a different user profile or reset the profile in use.
A new weapon is available as a sword variant in the Armory: the Night's Scar. The Night's Scar was designed by the player Zeed in our first "Draw a New Weapon for Just One Line" (Facebook) Contest.
Kudos to Zeed! And thank you to all who participated!
If you want to create new content for the game too, keep following us on our social media and Steam Community Hub for future contests!
We have made a new awesome Steam Trailer for Just One Line:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4cRD6LjpjO8
What do you think, Adventurers? Do you like it better than the previous one?
Last but not the least, we have just made available the demo version of Just One Line, for any one of you Adventurers who are still feeling unsure about our game. Come and try firsthand what Just One Line can offer!
The demo lets the player embark on three epic quests from the full game with four unlocked backgrounds and three unlocked races to choose from when creating your characters. Demo players will not be able to retire their adventurers nor the send them to the leaderboard. The Armory will not have as many items as the full game. But, hey!, it is just a demo, isn' it?
Here is the complete changelog for the patch 0.12:
"Prohibitionist" Game Balance
- Quests
- Duration (days) updated.
- Location association changed.
- Rewards updated.
- Renown for completing the quests updated.
- Questboard spawn requirements adjusted.
- Items' stats and prices drastically changed.
- Shields grant damage reduction.
- Sword and mace categories have been swapped.
- Axe damage type has been changed to be more effective against heavily armored foes.
- Starting gold to 100.
- Proficiencies swapped between Herald and Rogue.
- Damages and HP do not get affected by attributes increase due to the equipment (weapons, armors or trinkets) and drinks.
- Damage reduction given by weapons and armors does not affect any type of damage received outside of combat. Damage reduction obtained by drinks and trinkets stack with that of masteries for damages received outside of combat damages.
- Mastery update: Shield Brother's mastery is now 2 damage reduction from fight-type damages received outside of combat.
- Mastery update: Hounds' +1 Damage now shows in the damage count.

- Main menu: snow effect removed from the overworld.

- Other fixes: fix to the title drawing system, minor fix to the tutorial system, armory (disable incompatible trinkets and potions when returning from a quest).

Greetings Adventurers!
JOL Studios is very glad to make its biggest announcement since our early days here on Steam as a Steam Early Access title. We are talking about: User Generated Content (or UGC)!
We've been teasing and hinting about UGCs for Just One Line since the beginning but today we want to give you a little more details on what you can expect from them. As of 2018(*), you -Adventurers- will be able to exploit the Steam Workshop for:
- Quests: create your own adventures and have others have fun playing them as well!
- Skins: create new textures for weapons and armors in the Armory.
- Variants: create new 3D models for weapons and armors in the Armory.
About the Quests: you will be able to create your own stories. This will be possible thanks to a software we call Quest Editor! This powerful tool will be feature-complete as the one we currently use to create the main quests but it will be much more user-friendly and it will come with a set of new features specifically designed for the Community... Get ready to share your adventures with all the Adventurers in the Kingdom! You will be able to:
- Create brand new stories.
- Make up your own characters: tustworthy allies or fearsome enemies?
- Write about new and extraordinary locations.
- Create events for the player to take part in.
- Choose what to check when branching your storyline (attributes, relationships, race, background, gender, etc!).
- Choose the consequences for the player's actions!
- Add traps, fights and (de)buffs!
- Link your quest(s) with other player's quests or with your previous quests. Create follow-up quests (or prequels).
- Make the game remember about specific events during your quests.
- Set a privacy level for each quest you make. This will let you choose whether to allow other players to reference your quest or not.
- Use an in-tool feature to play-test your quest long before submitting it in order to fix bugs and make sure it is fun to play.
- Create alternative stories (branches) for already published quests.
- Tag and filter quests by genre/setting/age rating/language/etc once they hit the Workshop.
- Lastly, you will be able to submit the quests to the Steam Workshop of course. The best and high-quality quests -by JOL Studio's approval- will be added to the game and the Community will be able to rate them.
The best thing about the Quest Editor is that it will be completely free for anyone with a Steam copy of the game! Last but not least, content creators may even make a profit out of their Steam Workshop items. Before we sign out we would like to talk a bit about an upcoming patch. We are going to release a big content update in the near future. You can definitely expect it to be big, it will be a Time Rift update (3 quests) + Quest Pack (2 new quests), and it will include other contents as well, so... stay tuned! Lastly, JOL Studios is going to participate as exhibitor in Modena Nerd 2017, an Italian trade show taking on September 16-17. Be sure to follow us! For the time being, this is all, Adventurers! If you want more details please visit our Community Hub or come and join our Discord to have a chat with the devs! - The King's humble servants. (*) Early alpha releases might come before.
Greetings Adventurers!
Great news for you all waiting for new quests and stories! With today's patch we are releasing a brand new quest: Goblin Invasion. But that's not the end of story. This quest introduces the new Time Rift concept: by playing such quest you may, or may not (it's random!), get new storypaths! You may feel like something is different each time you play it. In an upcoming update many of the quests you have already played will be time-rifted, and brand new quests will be released! Stay tuned!
New Quest:
- Goblin Invasion.
- Quest System: bug fixing.
- Achievements: 1 new achievements (Time Rift).
- Titles: 3 new titles.

Greetings Adventurers!
Many of you wondered what update and new contents would come next, then wonder no more: this is our first public roadmap! Please note that this public roadmap may be subject to change and that many other things (contests, bug fixes, other contents updates, etc) are not included but you should definitely expect them.

Greetings Adventurers! Today we are proud to announce the forthcoming release of a new quest-related update: Time Rift! The update will contain a new compelling quest introducing a new game mechanic: random events! This feature will let you embark on ever-changing quests, so that even the ones you know best will contain unexpected paths, while the most observant adventurers (or the most lucky) could even sense something strange happening in the Kingdom... Since we are not satisfied with just this and we care about your request for more quest variety in Just One Line, we decided to add this feature to the other quests already in the game too! Starting with the first Time Rift update, some quests will be updated with the new feature and the new ones will be created with this new design in mind. In the meanwhile, here is today's patch changelog:
- Achievement and Titles: bug fix and allocation for new ones.
- Texts: [Italian only] typos fixed.

It is an optional field: if not provided, no entry is created. Please Note: Read the User Agreement. (Thanks to Alwaysmadowl for suggesting us this feature. If you want to be the next one to suggest us a new feature, head to our game Community Hub or send us an e-mail!)
Note: the biography icon is only displayed for the adventurers who have a biography.
Greetings Adventurers! We have just released a new patch (0.10.1):

Skin System
Greetings Adventurers, your favorite shopkeeper has some new epic items to sell. Go check the Little Horn's Inn Armory. Also, be sure to bring some gold with you! As for patch 0.10.0, we just rolled out our first implementation of the weapons and armors skin system. We will be adding more and more contents as the time goes by and we get more confident of the stability of the system. We carefully developed a small skin content pack for you:
Weapons
- Club x1
Armors
- Settler Suit x1
- Habit x2
- Scoundrel Suit x1
The base skin and the new skin(s) of a weapon/armor can be bought independently. You can buy the new skin(s) without buying the base one. You will need to pay for each skin you want (the price is always set equal to the base item value). Remember: you cannot sell back your items to the shopkeeper in Just One Line! We cannot wait to see your new adventurers in the leaderboard.

- Texts: localization issues fixed int Missing Child and Dragon. (Thanks to The Dark Lord of Puns and to Vancoor)
Greetings Adventurers! We are very proud -and thrilled- to announce that Just One Line has finally been released on Steam. We have been working to this Early Access version for a long period and we can't wait to hear your thoughts and feedback about the game. Early Access disclaimer: JOL Studios is a very small indie dev team but we take game development very seriously. We are very passionate of game making and playing games and we do know what the main concernes related to buying Early Access games are. We have been testing Just One Line since day 1 of the development and we still are. Of course, we don't have (yet!) many disparate gaming/pc rigs and testers internally, in fact we are a self-funded dev team: bugs, glitches or localization issues may occur in your gaming experience; we hope not, but it definitely could. Please fill in any number of bug reports as you feel like, we will tackle every single one of them. We need your support, we need a JOL community! Our main concern after the game release is to fix any bug/glitch that you may encounter. We are also focused on working on more and more contents to add to the game. We have put much effort in creating a solid game framework and designing the game contents so far; we are shipping with a fair amount of contents (namely quests, equipment) but we are going to increase their amount over time as we receive feedback about the game mechanics and quests. Game longevity and replay value must be key features of the game. Remember: we will also add user generated contents to the game! Thank you all for your support, Adventurers, come and join us, be a member of the Kingdom! Be sure to share this game with your friends as well! Will you be a hero or a ruthless villain? The Choice is Yours!

Just One Line - Linux Main Content [4 ]JOL - Linux Main Content [1.4 G]
Create different adventurers by choosing their races and backgrounds and embark on a variety of epic quests: each adventurer will progress by increasing his/her renown and relations with the factions of the Kingdom thus unlocking new races and backgrounds for your next playthroughs.
Even though the core game experience is a text-adventure 2.0, anyone, of any age, who likes fantasy RPGs or books should give it a try. In fact, Just One Line has many great features appealing to a broader audience:
- CHOICES MATTER
A lot of games say so, but a few truly mean it. Most of the quests in Just One Line are linked together and have different story paths according to your race, background, attributes and, more importantly, choices made in previous quests. - ENDLESS GAME EXPERIENCE
The video game itself is a framework upon which countless quests may be created and played. By exploiting user generated content and partnering with writers, Just One Line could potentially provide ever-growing contents! - YOUR ADVENTURER, YOUR STORY
Create your adventurers as you see fit. Start by choosing a race and a background, follow up with some aesthetic customization and finally shape him/her into a valorous hero or a ruthless villain. Their morality and honor changes according to your in-game choices. - WILL YOU BE THE BEST?
When you resign your adventurer you can compete with other players in the online leaderboard to be the most renowned/good/evil/rich(/whatever!) adventurer of the Kingdom! - HIGH REPLAY VALUE
Each quest has choices, or even entire story paths, only available after certain conditions are met and/or depending on previous quests’ choices! Every time you play with different adventurers, the story changes. - ALL ABOUT IMMERSION
We feature a unique set of locations with a fancy toon graphics and a mesmerizing OST to aid your imagination when embarking on epic quests. You will be amazed! - SHORT STORIES, DEEP STORIES
We believe that wall of texts are not needed for engaging desktop players. Quest telling is rich and thrilling yet not too darn long. - INNOVATIVE YET CONSERVATIVE
The concept of our game is a breath of fresh air! However, you can expect everything a role-playing gamer has come to know and love: races, classes, skills, magic, powerful weapons and armors… Oh! And dragons, zombies and pirates too!
Early Access Features
- 3 Races out of 4.
- 6 Backgrounds out of 10.
- 10 Quests and counting.
- Online leaderboard.
- 23 Armors.
- 29 Weapons.
- 29 Potions and Trinkets.
- Two languages: English and Italian.
- More to be added later
About the plot: Even though the game will feature a main story, it will only emerge as more quests are added to the game. The main story is already referenced by other quests in the game at the moment. Eventually, one or more playable quests about the main story will be added to the game; until then, the players must think of the quests as tasks -or help requests- from the people of the Kingdom, each somehow linked to many others (by cause-effect relationship) sharing the same game lore and background but not the same main story, as a traditional gamebook would. The adventurer is not (yet) a "chosen one", but rather a lad/lassie seeking his or her fortune!
Performance Notes
Just One Line is in development and undergoing optimizations. As the development continues and the community gives us feedback, performance will get better. The game suffers a slow one-time initial loading on mechanical hard drives. Please Note
We are not planning to and will do our best to avoid game saves to become incompatible over time or to wipe the online leaderboard. Should it be the case, we will give the users prior notice and try to work out the best solution possible to avoid any unexpected data loss.Quests already shipped may be updated in the future and the prerequisites/choices/consequences in newly added quests may depend on those updates. This could result in some "plot inconsistencies" or minor issues if playing with adventurers created before given updates.
