Localization! (and accessibility tweaks)


Car Puzzler now supports localization. Hopefully this makes my game more accessible for everybody. Hint at where you can find Tutorials and main game rules overview were added as well :). Best Mobile Game 2018 Award for Car Puzzler!


Something amazing and so unexpected has happened... My teenie tiny puzzle game has been awarded Best Mobile Game of 2018 by Slovak Game Developers Association!

Sneak peak of the new project

Hi, guys! I'm ready to reveal my next project that is currently in development. Working title BonVoyage, it is again a puzzle but not focusing on the sliding mechanics and variations (reconstruct the world to help stranded knights find their way home). Gameplay preview video
Based on the feedback for Car Puzzler, I'm trying to make it more accessible (tutorials integrated into the campaign not separate in extra tab, free camera to enjoy the cartoonish 3D world, more focus on the visuals, better level sorting to avoid difficulty spikes, etc. :). (Free) Summer level pack


With hot summer days here I've prepared a small refreshment for you all! As of today game got a new free 8 level summer pack, enjoy! To play free levels, switch to Extra levels tab and scroll down to Summer Pack section.
So in total we now more than a 100 levels to play and of course and easy way to create your own levels within minutes with the ingame editor :). Have a nice summer! Boris

Price adjustment and other news

  • The game will be playable in Dubrovnik at Reboot Develop Conference this week. So if you're nearby come to try it out or chat with me!
  • We have yet another player who has beaten the game on the maximum difficulty, congratulations!     Update: polish and level pack 2!

    Based on the great input from players at game expo the game was polished, these parts were updated:
    • helper to show which ordered point is supposed to be next
    • better "not all required points passed" message timing
    • fix of editor reload pointing to scan page
    • level name shown while playing level
    • info text in level with shadow to be better readable

    I hope this will make the gameplay more pleasant!

    Last weekend the game was playable at the largest game/pop culture oriented show for masses in Slovakia. People had a great time! Some of them were even returning to "solve that one more puzzle"

    Week 1 and Level creation step by step

    Week 1


    First of all, the launch sale is almost over so if you like puzzle games try it while the promotion lasts! This week was really short :).

    Level creation from idea to working level


    Let me show you in few quick steps how to create a mirror game level. Golden rule applies: LMB - place tile/goal, RMB - delete tile/goal [olist]
  • Basically it all starts with an idea for level scribbled on paper
  • Open the Level Editor and you can draw the basic level outline with Helper line mode
  • Continue with putting down Road tiles
  • In case we want to have required points to be passed, set that in Game settings section
  • For each path choose color and place Start point. Switch to Required goals, place those. Uncheck required goals and place Finish point
  • Place filler universal goals
  • Setup Mirror rules: Choose rule type (in this case Mirror XZ -> mirroring in both axes), end select points of two paths that you want connected with this rule
  • Choose a name for the level and save it! Now it is time to test it. You can find your created levels in User Levels tab. Open new level and finish it to validate.

    Update 1.02: visual tweak and keyboard support

    • Visual tweak to easier distinguish between start/finish points
    Today I've prepared promised update.

    Visual update


    First of all the visual difference between start and finish is bigger now so they should be easy to distinguish from afar. Finish is now full circle, manhole cover placed below the color visual. Start is a loop as before.

    Keyboard support


    For those uncomfortable with dragging the cars around with your mouse keyboard support was added. [olist]
  • Select the car you want to use with Tab (multiple clicks cycle through available vehicles). Selected car is visualized with big color star on ground
  • Move the car using WSAD or arrows (click or hold)
  • Dragging any car with mouse deselects keyboard controls, can be reenabled with Tab [/olist]
    I hope you'll find this update helpful and can enjoy the puzzle solving more!

    Update 1.01, news and future plans

    Today I've released a small fix for the game addressing few minor issues with achievements (e.g. Grand master was not being granted).

    News


    I've also glad to announce that we have first player that beat the campaign on the hard difficulty (timer and night mode)! According to Steam, the play time was around 6 hours so I'm proud to say that singleplayer campaign is as long as in Call of Duty games lately ;).

    Future plans


    I'm listening to the feedback from people and please do continue to contact me with your opinions as I'd like to make this game better and more enjoyable for you! In the next week I'd like to address these things that can be improved or added:
    • More visually differentiated start/finish and required points
    • Enhanced readability of UI text in levels
    • Workshop integration as an alternative for level sharing
    • Keyboard/Controller support for car movement

    Dear players, the game is now officially available.     Medals, points and more

    Feeling stuck in a level? Try to click the 'i' button to overview the used game mechanics. Learn basics of the game in '?' menu or by playing tutorial levels in Extra Levels tab.
    Are you looking for a bigger challenge? Try the timer mode or night mode (or even both) which you easily switch on in settings.


    Will it make any difference? Sure, bigger points for leaderboards and bigger challenge (you need to remember your path and won't see it apart from close by to the cars)! Finishing levels with these settings will unlock medals in the menu, so you can easily see which one was finished how.

    Have some challenging level ideas? Great, share them!

    Included editor makes level creation simple! Want to share your ideas with friends? Create a level, test it and afterwards share using simple QR code (scan with webcam). Easy, right?
    Here is the tutorial video to teach you how to do it. When the level is saved and tested (finish it once to evaluate it is ok), share with with simple screenshot. Others then can just scan the screenshot ingame via their webcam and try to beat your challenge!
