Update 17.2 - Ultra HD support!

The UI has been reworked to display on screens with resolutions higher than 1080p. Changes: Tile Puzzle Panels and Cannons have sound. Bug fixes: -Counter Attack bug display: Occurred when you acquired the Rogue Skill and you missed a move, the game displayed the message as if the monster was going to counter. -Fire boulder/Collision -When dying to a fire boulder your hitbox was disabled until the game was reset. -Saint Level 5 - Saint skill was not activating. -Sea Hook was displaying an incorrect icon when acquired. -When selling items to the innkeeper the cursor didn't reset. Translation bugs: Skill descriptions were not being translated. Font issues for Brazillian Portuguese text. Equipment displaying incorrect names.

Update 17 - Brazilian Portuguese, Battle Items, and more...

Game Changes -Game is now available in Brazilian Portuguese -New Items: Power Malt and Mana Water. Power Malt: Restores 20hp and increases ATT and DEF by 1 stage. Battle Only. Mana Water: Restores 20 mp and Increases S.ATT and S.DEF by 1 stage. Battle Only. These items are sold by the Innkeeper. -Aeacus buff -- HP 190 > 220 -Charon buff -- Hades Song ACC 55% > 65% Bug Fixes: - Weapon icons for Rod, Greatsword and Short Sword were not displaying correctly. - Spook's ability was paralyzing despite having immunity skill. - Defiant ability triggering the wrong animation (GrySlime' ability). - Tartarus Key displayed the wrong description. - Negative MP bug caused by Torment spell. - Several text errors fixed.

Update 16.1

Hotfixes - A bug causing save files not being able to load due to not having any equipment on. - A bug that considered new weapons as level 0 and was not giving the player any stats. - When crafting if you placed a Meteor first and then you placed any other crafting material like a piece of wood, iron bar, etc. it would cause the game to freeze.

Knights of Tartarus full release next Friday, April 19.

The final touches are being placed on Knights of Tartarus before release next week. Many have asked me if I will keep making updates for the game after release day. The answer is yes, the game will receive updates every now and then. Currently, I'm trying to get the game localized in a couple of languages and I need all the help I could get. Last but not least, I would like to thank all of you who have played, followed, reviewed and or take the time to report a bug. Update 14.2


Game Changes:


Rival can lose at the beginning (you can find many easter eggs when this happens).

Game Polish:


Player Sea Hook and Cyclone Ring animations. Wetlands Bird animation and Speed improved. Town indoor sprites improved. Monsters have an appearance animation. Save jingle. If you don't gain any experience in a battle, the battle message won't appear.

Update 14 - Story Mode Complete!

Game changes:

  • Final boss complete two endings included.
  • New game plus: You start with all the equipped weapons from your last playthrough and you get a Class Potion. The Class Potion lets you change classes and refunds all your skill points if you have any.
  • Once you save the soldiers in new game plus. The king gives you Charon's Flute instead of King's Flute. Charon's Flute allows you to warp between save points.
  • Save Blocks are now gem shards.
  • Exp gain changes: The previous nerf was a bit too much especially for low-level players. You will gain 12.5% more exp than before. Stump and Grn Slime give 20% more exp. Another change is that when you are 7 levels higher than the monsters you fight, you no longer get that drastic reduction in exp. So if you need to grind for exp it will be easier.
  • All spell costs increased (about double the previous cost).
  • Item descriptions are now set.
  • Text display from dialogue now uses the narrow font. This was changed to show more text per line.
  • You can get free meals from the old lady in Sage Town. The item "Nice Meal" restores 15 HP and MP.
  • Can't burn fire types.
  • Heal Spell changes: Heal buff 40 > 80. You can use Heal outside of battle.
  • Fire Lair save point moved and is now placed before the fight against Radhamantis.
  • Tartarus shop sells medium potions.
  • Rocky Falls entrance in Wetlands is now blocked by Wind Blocks.
  • Goblin Tower monsters nerfed: Max level 8 > 7
  • Goblin Warlord nerfed: Level 12 > 10
  • Rival in Goblin Tower nerfed: Level 8 > Level 6
Bug fixes:
  • Item selection bug fixed.
  • Music looping issues were fixed.
  • Music fading issues fixed.
  • Achievements were only updating after a spell was learned.
  • Removed the possibility of getting ambushed by a boss.
Polish:
  • Goblin wetlands and Town music were remade.
  • Warp tune when using portals or flutes.

Graphical/Visual: -The game now correctly displays at 1080p resolution windowed or fullscreen. -Pixel perfect sprites. -No tearing/flickering. -Smoother Camera movement. -NPC standing position adjustments. -Title Screen reworked ( Map/Zones -Monsters vanish when you stand in boss areas/save zones. -Spikey's ship minor changes to some of its layout. -Lamp+boulder puzzles were removed and changed to something less confusing. -Chests in Rocky Falls were resetting. Lantern bug - When lantern was cast in certain places the flame freezes into place. Warping Barrels - The falling barrels in Goblin Tower were traveling along everywhere you went. King's flute bugs - Couldn't use the King's flute in Mana Coast. - While using the King's Flute enemies could chase you causing the game to hard lock. Game changes:


Random battle encounters removed: -Monsters are now displayed by a dark entity and they will chase you down. The more you succeed in evading them, the faster they get over time. -Exp gain nerfed by 20% -Escape upgrade nerfed by 25% -Running out of battle nerfed by 10%

Bug fixes:


Hookshot: You can't hook into invalid tiles anymore. Spikey's Ship bugs: -Map reset was causing a boulder to appear in the wrong place causing a scenario where it would be impossible to clear the level. -Another grid was also bugged causing the player to get stuck if certain boulders were moved. Warlord pendant bug: -When the warlord gave you the pendant the goblin player animation wasn't updating. Earth Lair bugs: -Rock in lamp room deleting itself. Animation issues: -Defense buffs would cause the Icebolt animation to start. -Flame Wheel animation was not triggering. -Judgment animation was not triggering Battle bugs: Slime turns into slimes (removed) Confusion damage was not showing any animations Confusion damage not triggering surrender

Update 12.03

Game changes: -More than 30 battle animations are now included in the game. - You can now run by pressing and holding c or ' (quote) on the keyboard ('X' on Xbox controller). -Battle transitions are much faster. - SLP and FRZ status condition go away after winning a battle. You can not run while under these two conditions. -FRZ Heal now sold by all vendors. -You can thaw out of FRZ by using a fire spell. -Charon AI changes, now make it so that it doesn't spam Hade's Song if you're awake. - Hade's song nerf: causes SLP (2-9 turns) > (1-5 turns) - Frenzy nerf: Can attack 2-5 times > 2-3 times -You can name your rival when starting a new game. Update 12.0

Happy holidays knights! I wanted to give you guys a special update for this holiday season New maps:

Crypt-


The crypt is a very dark place located north of the forest and it contains much good loot. Even though the monsters are at a high level you can access the crypt for a chance to get good items and equipment at early points of the game. This area has 3 new monsters and a key item which you will need to proceed to further.

Ice Lair, Tartarus


The fourth big dungeon (and Boss). New puzzles and mechanics, and 4 new monsters in this region. After this update, I will start polishing the game a bit and fixing minor issues I have pending before adding the finale. Like always if you have any issues feel free to contact me, Ill respond as quickly as possible.

Update 11.3

Hotfixes:


-Transform + Frenzy bug: As a mage, if you had the transform skill (a skill that turns enemies into a slime monster if hit by a spell) and also The frenzy spell (a move that hits multiple times), It could activate transform on each hit causing many bugs. Combo spells now only activate the transform skill on the last hit. -Fireball collision + monster appearances bug: If you got hit by a fireball at the same time that you had a monster encounter, the game would soft lock. -Item usage bugs: BRN HEAL couldn't be used outside of battle. MED POTION had no effect in battle.

Changes:



-Tartarus Shop A new shop has opened in Tartarus. -Options menu added to pause menu You don't have to quit to the title screen to change volume, resolution, etc. -Level up STATS display: When you level up you can see your stat growth. -Victory music: A nice song plays when you win a battle. -Fireball collision: The last patch made it so if you're using the hook you would not get damaged by the fireballs. Now you are invulnerable if you're reeling in. In any other condition, you will get hurt. -Goblin Tower barrels: The barrels now fall from above instead of magically appearing in front of you. -Switches and Chests Chests and switches have sound effects. A nice jingle plays when you find some loot.

Hotfixes:


  • The first puzzle in the fire lair was disappearing boulders if certain conditions were met. This made it so you had to leave the dungeon in order to continue.
  • Rhadamanthis didn't want to say goodbye: A bug causing our friend to stay in the lair even after defeat. This also caused an error with achievement activation.
  • Mud throw spell description and move range are now fixed.

Changes:


  • First portal removed from Fire Lair.
  • Fire Boulder damage nerf 10% of max health > 8% of max health.
  • Grappling into a block gives you invincibility to fire boulders that you bumped into during the hook.
  • Forest NPCs now react to your goblin form.
  • Rival split scene remade (has an animation and sound effect).

Bug fixes and changes:


-Meteorites get placed in crafting bag instead of item bag. -The shop now displays a menu scroll indicator. -You can buy BRN HEAL. -Weapon stats text adjusted to be consistent on all menus. -Quit menu selection bug and text bug was removed. -Leaf effect in Sage Town school was removed. -There were two contradicting skills: 1. Fighter skill that raises ATT if critted 2. Sentry skill that makes it so you're never critted. The sentry skill was changed to nullify the crit damage. So essentially you get critted but you take normal damage (which was the intention in the first place), instead of blocking the chance of a critical hit move before it happens. -Several text errors in the skill menu description. -Confusion status was not working at all. When confused you chance a chance to hurt yourself (33%) and damage is 20% of your max health. -Confusion cures itself after a battle or after a few turns. -Battle ending transition to player view was reduced.

    New maps and map changes:


    -A new region is added and is connected to the Goblin Wetlands. This region contains new enemies and a boss. -New NPCs added to Sage Town. You can interact with the bookshelves and more. -Tiling errors fixed in many areas. -Hook blocks set in different places and act like shortcuts if you have the Sea Hook.

    New key Items:


    -Sea Hook: A hook that enables you to attach to objects. -King's Flute: After saving the soldiers from the cave the king now gives you his flute. Using the flute transports you back to town.

    Key Item Changes:


    -Goblin Pendant: Now transforms you into a goblin. NPCs will react to your new form.

    Gameplay Changes:


    -NPCs dialogue changes after you save the soldiers in the cave. -Sky Tartarus cyclones removed. -Signs were remade and now show on a different layer.

    Bug fixes:


    -Menu input bug that caused the cursor to speed up. -Cyclones outside of Sky Tartarus were not traveling. -A bug that caused some users to not be able to warp to Sky Tartarus.

    Achievements:


    The game now has achievements. The icons are placeholders and more will be added as development continues.

    Buffs:


    Hero level up now restores 25% of maximum MP. Knight Aeacus Buffing Aeacus a bit since everyone says it's too easy. BASE HP 180 >190 Silver Arrow power 30 > 45

    Nerfs:


    Hero skill upgrade changes: You get too strong after you put in a few points into the skill tree. So after reaching lv 30 you, the hero basically wipe the floor with everything. A nerf is due. Fighters BASE ATT at Level.0: 0 > 5 BASE ATT 20 per point > 20/40/55/70/80 Mages BASE S.ATT 20 per point > 20/40/55/70/80 Transform changes: Transformed monsters now keep their spells. Sentry and Saint BASE Defenses at Level.0: 0 > 5 BASE HP 10 per point > 15/25/30/35/40 BASE Defenses 20 per point > 20/40/55/70/80 Goblin Warrior I think we can agree that this brave warrior was a bit too much. Even though it can be fun to watch it destroy you with one frenzy at early levels it gets annoying after the 3rd time. BASE ATT 95 > 80 Green Slime This nerf is to make up for the transform changes and it will also make it easier for new players to get through the forest. BASE HP 45 > 30 BASE ATT 50 > 40 BASE DEF 70> 65 BASE S.ATT 70 > 65 BASE S.DEF 110 > 80 Gryphon The gryphon should be a really strong monster but it's too strong for the early game. I want the player to be able to visit Sky Tartarus if they wish to get the cyclone ring early so this nerf will help a bit. Level 27 > 25 BASE ATT 155 > 145

    Bug Fixes:


    Mana stats not updating after level up is fixed. Golem Transform bug fixed.

    NPC changes:


    Paollo has left to sell his art somewhere else. (Probably will be gone forever)

    New Maps: You can now enter the Gloomy Swamps, a placed filled with hags and magical bullfrogs. This area also connects to Sky Tartarus where a Knight of Tartarus resides. New Monsters: Six new monsters have been included: Bullfrog, Hag, Gamayun, Wind Golem, Gryphon and the Mimic. Most of these will teach you their spells when defeated. The ones that don't will drop crafting items in a future patch. New Key Item: You can find the Cyclone Ring in Sky Tartarus. A magical ring that gives the wearer the ability to throw cyclones. Key Item Swapping: You can swap between Key Items by pressing Shift on the keyboard or Select if you use a gamepad. Town Shop Items: PRZ Heal can now be bought in town shop. Bugs: The -12 billion transform bug. This was a bug that occured when a mage transformed an enemy into a slime monster. The next spell would do -12 billion damage.
