We also released a build with improvements to controller support across the board on the Steam beta (beta-beta) branch. If your controller had issues previously, it's worth trying it with the new beta build. Especially in Linux and macOS. To access the build: 1. right click in art of rally in your Library 2. select Properties 3. go to the Betas tab and then select the beta branch 4. wait for the update to finish 5. verify the installation. You may need to try different Steam input settings in the Controller tab in art of rally's Library Properties and also in the Steam Controller Settings. Make sure to restart the game each time you change any Steam settings. If you didn't have controller issues previously, but now have them with the beta branch build, please send the game logs to the team after you try the build. An update to let you all know that we will be sunsetting official DirectX 12 support over the next couple of weeks. We initially enabled this option as a way to give more options for dealing with performance issues but we have found it hasn't meaningfully helped a large enough subset of our community to justify the ongoing maintenance costs of Unity's experimental DX12 support. You'll still be able to manually apply the -force-d3d12 launch options going forward but know that we are no longer able to provide official support for bug fixing and maintenance to DX12 issues. The good news is Funselektor is taking this time and putting it toward new exciting things, keep an eye out!

tldr: We fed the Funselektor mascot a turbocharger and now its MAXIMUM ATTACK! First up, weve moved to a 4-day workweek and our ongoing part-time and full-time collaborators are now full-time employees (except one), so we can offer vacation, sick days and benefits! Im proud to announce our FULL-TIME team, a great group from around the globe. The last couple years have felt like war, by self-publishing and doing many releases. A large reason weve survived through the hard times is because of these people (in order of hire date): Adrian Tosello - Developer from Melbourne, Australia Full-time since 2020 and helped finish art of rally, a big reason it had a solid build and little bugs at launch is because of him. Hes been doing ongoing development on art of rally, FunCore, and an unannounced game. Perren Spence-Pearse - Technical Lead from Melbourne, Australia Part-time since 2020, adding the dynamic crowds, optimization and graphics work. He likes to play with our hard development problems. Hell be heading up FunCore, working on art of rally and an unannounced game. Jacob Vincent - Technical Producer and Tools Developer from Melbourne, Australia Part-time since 2020 to port art of rally to GOG, Livery Mods and builds. Now hes managing our development team, and improving our development pipeline and tools that will support our developers. Aaron Oak - Creative Producer from Los Angeles, USA Joined in 2020 doing Community Management for our art of rally launch part-time and full-time in 2021 as Creative Producer to for bizdev, production, improving our processes and planning for our future projects. Friedel Verpoort - Developer and Backend from Kortemark, Belgium Joined part-time in 2020 after I asked can you do our Epic Port for our launch next week and start tomorrow? And he got it done. Since then he created our servers, PC ports and is starting on unannounced game. Boyan Bratanov - QA and Support from Pleven, Bulgaria (Part-Time) Boyan came on our radar after he appeared in our community channels and now he is officially on the team and will continue answering questions on our public channels, QA and handling our new Support email too. And Me - Recently I finished doing a large renovation to the Funselektor camper van and am in it again roaming around. It must be funny from the perspective of our team, but it makes me happy and is fun. Some things never change. To summarize, 2020 and 2021 were insanely busy for us as weve had many launches and growth and recently we've taken time to press the reset button and reevaluate everything we do from the ground up so we can make games better.

This is our new game-agnostic architecture for our future Unity games in order to build them more efficiently, with less bugs and higher performance. The team has started from scratch and I've requested a checkbox for multiplayer, so it should be possible right?

The new 1.3.1 update after the new Kenya Update is now here!
This includes improvements based on player feedback like tweaked AI master difficulty and reduced wear and tear.
And
it's almost the anniversary of the original launch on September 23rd we've never stopped working on FREE content and updates for the game since! After launch we've added the Heritage Update, Polacolour Update, and Kenya Update, which included new cars and soundtracks, along with cool things like Livery Mods and a huge UI overhaul. The game also launched on Xbox and Switch with Playstation coming soon. Thanks for playing, for the positive and critical feedback, for the photos and videos capturing awesome moments and gorgeous perspectives, for the huge amount of custom liveries and for believing in us :) And as always, if you can spare a moment to leave a review on the game, it is much appreciated!

The Polacolour Update is live!
[previewyoutube=0vDyvEVmI80;full][/previewyoutube] This 1.2.0 update has been 6-months in the making and features a full-UI re-design by Jamie Churchman, the artist from Mini Metro, including the much requested Dark Mode and UI scaling. We've also brought our own cross-platform leaderboards online with downloadable ghosts, which means that they'll be starting from fresh. More highlights are updated AI times, better low-end torque on all cars and better performance. We've been working full-time on the game since it launched in September and are continuing onto more locations even after Kenya! v1.0.5c build. This one has taken a little longer as we were doing some more bugfixes, but it is ready and should run a bit faster now as we've optimized the heaviest part of the game which was the vegetation.

This is a small Beta update which signals the start of our new update schedule, in which we'll be aiming for a new update every two weeks, after two weeks of public beta testing. We'll do our best to stick to this, but it will be affected by Christmas holidays and any other holidays/events. Game Update 7/10/2020
Another game update today, we were dealing with some leaderboard issues. The baseline times for AI in career are based off the leaderboards as we don't have a "Stig" to set the fastest time for all 1200 leadeboard that cover each car class, weather, & stage combinations. We updated the times after launch, but it turns out there was a bug where scores were being uploaded to another leaderboard accidentally, so we've had to cull the top 30 and need to cull a lesser number today as well unfortunately. There are some growing pains but now the game should be more stable and we can now focus on larger more fun updates with gameplay tweaks from your feedback, fixing more bugs and are working on better optimization too. All your feedback is very valuable and please tell us what you think of the new updates, we are supporting this game 100%! - fixed slower framerate on foggy stages

A stylized rally game from the creator of Absolute Drift.
The top-down view lets you completely focus on the stages by seeing upcoming road features without needing pace-notes. This demo includes:
- Two iconic rally cars, one from Group 2, one from Group B
- One mixed gravel-tarmac stage from Finland, with jumps, crests and corners. Its a challenging course to master
- Race in different conditions: morning, afternoon, sunset, fog, rain, night
- Relive and capture your best moments with Photo Mode, Replay Mode, and Photo-Mode In Replays
- This is just a small taster of whats to come later in the year the final game will feature 50+ cars, 60 stages across 5 different countries, a full career mode, daily and weekly challenges with leaderboards, and a soundtrack by Tatreal.
History
The creator Dune began playing around with a rally game after Absolute Drift launched in 2015 but it didn't go into full-on development until 2017. A large inspiration is drawn from many hours of playing the original Colin Mcrae rally games on PC in the 2000's. The developer has driven WRC cars from the 1990s in New Zealand and also attended DirtFish rally school in an effort to gain a better understanding of rally cars and also the learning process that goes into learning how to rally. Much of the development was done in a camper van that he lives in while doing roadtrips around Canada, America and Mexico to gain inspiration and research different environments for the game.

This update has been mostly about making the game prettier, namely vegetation, lighting and particles. I was deep in the hole for this one and there's many things that aren't on the changelog so you'll just have to try it out!
Features
-stages have real time ambient occlusion
-New trees, rocks, bushes and vegetation pass for all locations
-Swapped the vegetation shaders for ones that support instanced indirect, which is much faster than the previous way of rendering vegetation
Improvements
-improved gear ratios
-Group B, S, A have more even downforce between the front and rear wings which makes for more even jump flight and also less understeer when going high speeds
-redid the lighting for snow stages
-all strings are localized now
-readjusted braking power for all classes
-cars are using studded snow tires so increased the grip on snow a little bit
-nearly all the particles have been overhauled and now look much more consistent across all lighting and weather
Fixes
-manual & automatic were swapped
-weather effects that are attached to the car do not rotate with the car anymore (no more sideways rain)
-Photo mode works again
-Camera glitch between begin stage and racing
-quality & vegetation density settings were only being set with a quality setting was changed
-when coming onto the throttle the turbo blow-off sfx is stopped if it is currently playing

Large-ish Update. Localization and cleaning up UI and menus. The savegame file format has changed so all your settings will be reset.
Features
-added an anti-cheat plugin for times and damage
-the car used for custom events and career are now displayed in the rally complete screen & season complete screen
-the car used for an in-progress career is shown in the main menu, if no season in-progress then a random car is chosen
-added a kids cheering sound effect when you unlock a car
-converted the Save file to use JSON instead of XML, which is faster to load/save and fixes some issues where editing values in xml files would cause them not to load.
-Game saves in SaveGame.json now, which means the settings and unlocks have been reset, sorry!
-everything in the game except for country names should have localization now, please tell me if you see something amiss!

-Car at start line has the handbrake on to prevent rollback
-surrounded the rally school with hills/mountains which will serve as more believable end of the map obstacles
-all settings have correct default values now
-car odometers are shown without decimal places
-loading screen displays stage info in all lowercase and distances with only 1 decimal point
-unlocked cars don't use a black shader if they are unlocked

-completing a season after the car unlocking screen doesn't freeze anymore
-quick restart shortcut works correctly now
-when choosing a car class in custom event, freeroam and rally school, the 1st from that class is shown, instead of all the cars on top of each other

This fresh build has quality of life improvements, controls changes, and... CAMERA SHAKE!! Features -shift-stacking. Now you can go through gears a lot quicker without having to shift individually into each -quick restarts. Restarting is immediate, no more reloading the stage. Let me know if you encounter any issues -added a setting to cap the framerate -added camera shake. Shakes when hitting stuff, landing jumps, shifting gears. -added camera shake setting -all default AI times are now based off of 10 minutes/stage instead of the minutes before. Working on updating these times as you guys play more of the stages. Improvements -blocked logs in chicane cut on Finland 1 -cars in main menu have wheels pointed straight -tweaked logging truck controls to be less floaty -group 2 4th gear is a little longer -Drivetrains now deliver power for each of the AWD, FWD, RWD drivetrains. -closed off corner cuts reported by players -camera fov and pitch increase with speed. Tried to go on the subtle side -made some small optimizations to scripts. Going to start posting the changelog for updates here. This is a large update since the last one in May. Features -added a camera rotation damping setting to the graphics settings screen. Default damping is slightly less than before, but feels good. -added debug text in stages that shows the car, stage, and game mode. -FPS counter is back. Fixes -black image in custom-event menu -menu: camera zooms in on car chooser now -exiting time chaser won't reset the car class when coming back to it again -moved the SR71 car from Group S to Group B class -in Esc Menu, to enter the Rally School item, you first need to go down to Settings and then Up to be able to select it -When entering the photo mode for first time, the help prompt in the left down corner didn't pop up. Id did after seccond try.
