New Build 1.19!

Hey girl dudes and guy dudes. Just wanted to drop a line that thanks to the awesome efforts of the Greenworks team, Scirra team and LIL OL ME i managed to get the game updated to a much more recent version of Node Webkit, using a much more recent version of Construct 2, and a much more recent version of the Steamworks API. What does this mean exactly? Well, it should fix a butt tonne of engine bugs that i personally had no chance of fixing cuz well they were in the engine. I was running a much older version of Construct 2 for building (r216) but with the recent changes I was able to upgrade to r233 which has a plethora of issues resolved. It also means im using a more recent version of Node Webkit which blah blah blah sounds super boring but it should help with keeping things running smoother, and im actually hoping it resolves an issue with garbled text on certain high resolution / high dpi windows machines. (let me know). Overall, things should be better.. but it does give me some new hope for a feature so many people have been axin' for since day effin one. We'll see... I feel like there's a chance it can come to fruition... a chance.... just a chance... Almost forgot - this new update also means there is now support for 64bit Windows and MacOS versions. Previously I could only support 64bit on linux but EFF THAT NOISE. Now we can all share in the futuristic bit glory. Hope you're enjoying the game ;) Hugs, N8ːmushbloomː

Announcing My/Our Next Game: Slayaway Camp!

So some of you might be curious what I've been working on this past year since Cosmochoria was launched. I can answer that in one simple web link: www.slayawaycamp.com [img=http://bluewizard.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/05/banner.jpg] Check out the video on that page, and don't forget to scroll down and sign up for the closed beta at the end of the month. It's going to be iOS only for the beta, and the game might one day come to Steam, but we're focussing on it being a Mobile game for now, just because the touch screen / movement interface fits so well. Hope you awesome guys & girls dig it!! If you want to share the video with your friends, it would really help me spread the word, too! I'd be eternally grateful :) Hugs, Nate ːcosmorobotː

  • BUGFIX: Final music doesnt use sysbgm volume

Cosmochoria Beta - More Language Support!!

Hey pals, I have posted a new beta build (look at the properties for Cosmochoria in your steam library then opt into the Beta Testing branches to view.) The update fixes a few existing bugs in 1.16.X but the biggest change of the update is new language support. This gives full localization support for the following languages: - French - German - Russian - Spanish It should ask you for your language the first time you run the game, and to get back to it / change your language setting you just have to hit L on your keyboard on the title screen. Id make this one live but I need to get some additional testing done on it first to make sure it is working properly. If you get a chance to try it out and things are looking good on your end please drop a comment on this post, or even in the forums somewhere. I'd love to hear from you! If everything goes smoothly, hopefully I can get the new languages posted to the main branch of Cosmochoria and then a whole bunch of new people can read pure nonsense in their mother tongues. Hugs to all! Nate ːnakedː

Quick fix 1.16

Sat down for a session with Cosmo last night after the update just to check things out on steam, make sure things were running smooth... Well, i got on a roll and ended up clearing 0-50 planets in 1 session, killed all bosses using the laser blaster, and had the NO TOWERS artifact activated, so it was all guns-a-blazing. Whole thing took me about 2 hours, and it was probably the most fun I had playing cosmochoria since i first thought it up. Just wanted to thank you all for your positivity and support in purchasing / playing / giving feedback on the game, and I hope to continue to improve it, at an albeit slower pace now that I'm busy working with a great team to make a brand new game yet to be revealed. :) Here's a quick patch to fix some of the issues i found last night. Nothing too crazy, but helpful. Hugs!! Changelog 1.16 [x] Intro screens use saved “SFX” volume value. [x] Name saves as 1.15 [x] Touching Keyboard Icon shouldnt be allowed unless Options Screen is up. Oops. PS. If you look in the "Properties" for cosmochoria on steam, you'll notice you can choose Beta builds in the beta tab. I've set the halloween update up in there so if you wish, you can restore back to that version to play with the halloween stuff and pewdiepie, etc. :) Ill be using that beta build for future experimental stuff, too.

Update 1.15 - Nervous.

Well dudes, i finally finished rebindable / mappable keyboard controls. Im desperately sorry it took so damn long, but it was fragile and dangerous and even after all the testing and double checking and everything im sweating my brains off worrying that there's some thing that was overlooked. IF YOU FIND A BUG, please just report it in the forums, preferably the BUGS section, I check them daily and now that this core functionality is done, Im switching back into bug fixing mode and will be dealing with any strangeness ASAP.. I truly and deeply hope this doesnt cause any issues for anyone though. You might notice the new font... that new font means I can support new languages. As far as a roadmap goes, once i've dealt with some of the more obvious bugs that people have been reporting, I will be working on adding localized text for some additional languages. I will also be looking at some of the other features people have been asking about to see what is doable, etc. Anyways, I hope you are still having fun and if you have any questions about the game, the story, the art, the music, the stupid stupid writing, please don't hesitate to drop me a line in the forums, would love to chat. Hugs, Nate Changelog for 1.15

  • Restored original (non-halloween) art.
  • Removed the pewds. He was only ever supposed to be temporary anyway, after all that arguin’ we did.
  • Cleaned up UI, hopefully smoother to navigate stuff via gamepad / kb&mouse now.
  • Better font rendering (prep for localization to other languages)
  • Customizable Keyboard Controls: Click the keyboard icon in title screen options menu.
  • Millions of bug fixes and OCD tweaks. any remaining bugs are considered features.

Quick Fix 1.13.14

Happy saturday everyone. :) So very crazy to see the stats of how many people are playing Cosmochoria as I type this!! I just wanted to say a deeply heartfelt thank you to everyone who has bought the game at any price, and for leaving your thoughts in a review, positive or negative. Your support and feedback has made Cosmochoria what it is, and will continue to shape it as long as you're a fan. Just posted a quick fix which fixes a couple things that needed fixing: 1. Sword is now back to the "illumina sword" graphics. Didnt realize the confusion that would cause swapping out the graphics when it doesnt really look like a sword anymore but everyone refers to it as a sword. 2. Fixed the map so it shows the planets as soon as you enter a new game. So you shouldnt have to close then open it anymore. Sorry bout that! Update should be live, restart steam if you're not seeing 1.13.14 on the upper corner of the title screen. Much love! Nate ːcosmoglitchː

Update 1.13.13 - A Compromise.

I'm a reasonable guy. I try to take feedback given to me with as much of a rational open minded viewpoint as possible. I try to be aware of the impact my decisions and actions make on the world, even the small stupid ones, and I try to make up for them with hopefully less stupid decisions and actions. Yesterday was a big deal for me. While I'm not a die hard fan of pewdiepie, I've heard of his legacy. Like a gold armoured knight riding through the kingdoms, he looks down from his mighty steed and smiles at a small orphan girl, and as he rides away, the townspeople all flock to the orphan girl and ask her what her name is and if they can be her friend. Only its nothing like that at all, but in the heat of the moment, with emotions and excitement on such a large exposure to my work taking place right before my eyes, I got caught up in it all. Yesterday I made a silly update to Cosmochoria which put a cartoon rendition of a naked, grinning pewdiepie in the game. Many people reached out to me to say this was funny / enjoyed / smart, etc but some reached out to calmly, or otherwise, tell me that they were dissatisfied with my decision and that it ruined the game for them. It would be short sighted and selfish to think that they have no right to feel this way and that this, being my work of expression (or ridiculous nonsense), that I can do whatever I want with it. But the truth is, Cosmochoria is the end result of not only my own ideas but countless countless others. From the moment I shared it with close family and friends, to the kickstarter campaign, then all throughout early access with live streams and regular content updates, I've held the opinions and feedback of so many amazing people as words of gold, and have done my very very best to incorporate those ideas and make those changes where I thought the game would most benefit. It would be foolish of me to turn my back on that philosophy now. I have made some tweaks to Cosmochoria. I'm not going to program in a feature like enabling / disabling the halloween content because in 2 weeks the halloween content will be gone and no one will even think about it anymore. As a compromise, I've restored the sprite of the default Cosmo costume so that if you use it, you are getting the original artwork for cosmo. Now the only things that are halloween-related are the additional costumes, which will unlock as you play and become more familiar with the game, the UFO's which lets face it are just as fun to blow up as pumpkins, and the various planets and planetary objects found scattered throughout the galaxy, which really dont do anything to take away from what the game offers, and I was even considering leaving that stuff in after halloween since it's pretty cool regardless. As for Pewdiepie. I'm not taking him out because I think he fits perfectly with what the game is supposed to be: a reflection of me and my thoughts. The story of cosmochoria will make that more clear as you get into the game and realize it's not 'just' an arcade game... Just as much as I added nipples to cosmo on a whim, and designed a giant mothership as a boss because my then 4 year old wanted me to, i put a sprite of a pewdiepie clone in the mix because thats what this game is: absurd, nonsensical, but all in all me & my creation. I made pewdiepie clones appear much more rarely now so you should see him much much much less frequently, but if you truly feel the pdp clone breaks the immersion by being in the game, then a) you have one more reason to destroy it, and b) you need to read some more hologram pods. Im sorry if I turned you off the game with these recent graphical decisions, and I'm honoured that you felt so strongly about it that you needed to express yourself. I just wanted to say that I was and always will be listening and will always try to find compromises between what your vision is for this game and my own. Peace, Nate PS Changes are now live. ːtheglitchː ːtheglitchː ːtheglitchː ːtheglitchː

MUST DESTROY EVIL PEWDIEPIE CLONES (Update 1.13.1)

So I donno if you've ever heard of a guy named Pewdiepie.. he's arguably one of the most well known game related video producers on youtube. Well today he had a little session with Cosmochoria and it was great. :) Check the video out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdlfmc1QeCQ In honour / celebration of the nice exposure he gave the game, I wanted to do something nice -- when yogscast played the game, I created a secret character that only kickstarter backers could unlock, but after pewdiepie played it, I wanted to make sure i gave something cool to EVERYONE who has made my dreams come true by purchasing / supporting Cosmochoria. SO without further ado, you can now explore the galaxy in search of evil pewdiepie clones and eradicate them from existence permanently.
ENJOY!!! Ps. I stress these are CLONES of pewdiepie, not actually him you are killing. The clones are evil. They do bad things like run around naked and touch things with their privates. This is bad, and why you must destroy them. Please destroy them.

NEW UPDATE! 1.07 - Balance, Visuals Achievements

Hey Dudes (brudes (bro dudes) and gudes (girl dudes))!!! First and foremost I wanted to give you all a HUGE THANK YOU for your support of Cosmochoria. I am blown away at the great response and kind, positive reviews you've left me. Im so happy that you enjoy the game and want to do my best to bring new updates and improvements to give you a reason to keep playing :) It's been a while since the last update, but I've had my hands full with some of the more major things, including the re-bindable keys and a secret update Im hoping to get done within the coming months. Shh. its a secret to everybody. Anyway, I wanted to post this update as it has some pretty cool stuff, especially considering it should resolve some of the more obscure bugs that have plagued a few people. The biggest change you might notice if you play Cosmochoria EVERY FREAKING DAY is that there have been some fairly major balance changes, ultimately making it a little bit easier especially in early game. I think some of the hardcoreness was quite off putting and thanks to the steam reviews i was able to see from a few people that the extreme difficulty of the game has severely impacted their ability to enjoy it. hopefully i fixed that to some extent. Anyway, I don't think it's a super huge deal because: a) It still gets pretty hard, pretty quick as you start saving planets and the enemy count gets more and more hectic. b) Bosses should be roughly the same difficulty with maybe a bit of a slight difference with the weapon strength. Overall, I still think the game is extremely fun and I would actually say the difficulty tweaks have made it even more fun if you were already digging it. It just... feels better.... I hope you like! Also there's a huge handful of new achievements. If you've met the criteria for the achievements already, they should just unlock once you get to the title screen, really. Here's a full changelog of what's in the update. Id love to hear what you think! Hugs, nate Changelog for 1.07 -----

  • ACHIEVEMENTS: 12 New Steam Achievements :)
  • BALANCE: Improved various bullet sizes to different guns.
  • BALANCE: Increased power of flame tower fireballs.
  • BALANCE: Improved UFO Hit Detection
  • BALANCE: Modified Normal enemy health (less) overall.
  • BALANCE: More enemy health in hard mode.
  • BALANCE: Improved speed and damage of initial gun.
  • BALANCE: Nerfed shotgun damage
  • BALANCE: Buffed shotgun fire speed.
  • BALANCE: Remove touch damage from enemy death explosions.

FULL v1.0 LAUNCH ON MONDAY!

I am so proud and excited to announce that Cosmochoria will be launching out of Early Access and into a full Steam release on Monday, April 27 at about 9am PST. I wanted to take a second to both thank and congratulate every single one of you who have a copy of Cosmochoria in your Steam Libraries right now. Whether you purchased the Early Access version, or are one of the incredible backers from the Cosmochoria Kickstarter campaign which ended just over a year ago, you have all my juicy loves. Each and every single one of you have given me trust and faith in my vision and ability to bring that vision to life. Cosmochoria started as a seed and I always knew what that seed could one day become and I can honestly say that not only did you help that seed sprout, but so many of you personally touched my heart and mind throughout the process of creating this game—shaping it beyond even my own imagination. For that, I am eternally grateful to you. It is a catastrophe that Early Access development leaves such a bad taste in peoples mouths, as it has been an honor and a pleasure to develop this game with your eyes, ears, minds, fingers and thumbs in the mix with me. I am forever grateful for your faith and influence, and I can only hope that the result that launches on Monday is not only something you can enjoy, also something you truly feel proud to have been a part of. Thank you so much for having my back. You made my dream come true this past year, and I will never, ever forget that. Sincerely & with a hug that lasts until infinity, Nate Schmold

Hey dudes. Some more bugfixes in prep for final release in like a week. wow. There are still a few known bugs and one bonus bug that appeared in this build that ill have fixed up asap but i wanted to post this asap because it fixes a crucial 'NPC' bug that was preventing you from talking to NPC's which could ruin the ending, or just make a game suck. If you find anything weird, hit me up in the comments or start a new bug post in the forums. Thanks so much to everyone who is reporting strange issues :) It helps a lot in making sure they get dealt with ASAP! Hugs, Nate Changelog 0.180

ONE ONE ONE ONE SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN SEVEN EIGHT EIGHT EIGHT EIGHT

Oh hai. So i made this game, it's called Cosmochoria. It's pretty cool. You're a little naked space man and you shoot ugly bad guys in the eyeballs and they explode everywhere but really you just wanna plant seeds on the planets and make them grow into beautiful colorful worlds but you don't quite know why... maybe it's because they're just so pretty when you're done. But the bad guys keep coming and they get stronger and more annoying and there's this weird stuff everywhere and these things that have holograms that come out of them and they talk to you and you think there's something special about this little galaxy but you're not sure what and it all starts to spiral out of control while you learn more about what it all is. Then you kinda find out.. So i made this game, and it's kinda sorta done now. :) Like. it says "The End" when you finish it.. And then credits roll. Sorta like a real thing. I would LOVE to know what you think about all this. hugs, nate Changelog 0.178

  • FINAL MYSTERY WEAPON
  • FINAL BOSS
  • THE END
