2026 is here! And we hope you have an amazing start to the year! Usually this wouldve been a patch notes post, though the next batch of new content needs a little more time to cook. Still, we want to keep you updated on the development progress so instead, we have a dev blog for you today on what weve been working on lately.
Tool Tips Rework
Pathogenic has seen a significant growth in wishlists ever since the demo launch, and we are incredibly grateful for that. With new parasites joining the battle every day, we want to make sure everyone can quickly grasp the fundamentals to invade and survive a hostile immune system. Thats why Matt and Roberto are overhauling the tool tips, which is a sizeable task across all localizations and we would like to take the time to get it right. Ultimately, you can expect more insightful and concise guidance as you begin your microscopic conquest.

A much requested feature is to customize Pathogens before starting a run, and you can see some ideas of how it can be incorporated on the left. We are also thinking of introducing challenges to your runs, which players can complete with their ever-growing collection of organelles. This should provide players with a fun and rewarding incentive for more variations of playstyles.

Organelle Visuals Rework

We want your parasite to appear more visually distinct as it takes on different organelles to really show off the unique evolution progress. Thats why in this patch, weve reworked the backgrounds of the internal organelles so they can influence the look of your pathogen even more.
Music
Pathogenics soundtracks have always been integral to the combat experience. In this patch weve made them cleaner, longer, and now your cellular combat action is ever more hyped. It\'s a pity we can\'t put audio files in this blog, so do load up the demo and listen to the music yourself!
UI Updates

I can\'t believe it - Pathogenic just hit 10,000 parasites, uh I mean wishlists (11,226 as of writing to be exact!).

You may be disappointed to see the playtest button is missing - that\'s for a good reason though!
We\'re gearing up the demo release where everyone will be able to play and we\'re incorporating the amazing feedback we\'ve had from everyone during the playtest. You won\'t have to wait long, on Friday 16th October we will releasing our brand new trailer and revealing the release date of the demo.
