In light of recent issues in Nauts that took a week to be fixed, we have decided to make the Bozo Gunk skin free to claim and keep from 10am PT Wednesday 19th October to 10am PT Monday 24th October. |
Hi everyone, the issues in the previous post seem to be fixed! We still don't really know what caused the issues (or what fixed them) so we will keep a close eye on them. |
Hi everyone, we have some unfortunate news. Since Monday 19th September, a host of issues popped up in Nauts and we have very little idea as to what caused them. We have contacted Steam and are also looking into this ourselves. But considering that this seemed to have happened out of the blue, we do not yet know how to approach solving the issues, so do not have an estimate when these issues will be fixed. We will keep you updated if we have any new information.
If you have recently purchased Nauts DLC and wish to get a refund, please contact Steam Support and create a ticket for the item(s) in question. One comparatively fortunate factor is that matchmaking is not affected, so players can still play the game with Nauts that have already been unlocked, or are currently on the free rotation. We apologise for this inconvenience and will keep you updated once we find out more. |

Awesomenauts 4.6: Tinker Time has launched on Steam, including a wide array of balance tweaks and gameplay improvements! A big thanks to everyone who participated in the open beta for this update and shared their thoughts on some of the planned changes.
Laser Trap is too unreliable, doing either too much damage or none at all. These changes should make its effect more reliable while also making placement a little bit more skillful.
Some upgrade adjustments based on the above changes. These are intended to keep Rocket brawling closer to his Laser Trap.
This upgrade is still too strong and mandatory His Rocket Launch no longer deals damage to turrets, but his turret push is still too intense. Adjusting the numbers and making them more consistent.
This upgrade was a holdover from a time where Rocket’s Laser Trap had a lot more uptime. The intention for this replacement is to enable Rocket to be a bit better at brawling and allowing him to stay a bit closer to the fight
Part of his safety comes from his relatively high ranged base attack.
Combining Rocket Launch and a full Charged Salvo at melee range provides too much damage, too easily. At the same time we want to stimulate him to get more into the thick of the fight.
Derpl We consider Derpl a bit too strongly affected by map choice and enemy team choices. Our intention is to weaken him a bit on the maps where he does too well, while also strengthening him against his counters.
Traps can be very oppressive, maxing out at full 2.4 seconds of no gameplay for the receiving party. Their long lifetime also stimulates camping gameplay.
Some base attack adjustments to better balance the row and take the above changes into account.
Dizzy Dizzy is currently a bit too strong. But she's also very finicky, and has a lot of weak upgrades.
Ix Ix generally still brings too much to the table overall, great displace move, solid heals, invincibility frames, excellent mobility and strong brawling. In order to nudge him more towards his role his brawling should be reduced.
Lonestar
Since these aren’t that much better than regular boots, they also don’t have to cost much more.
Max Focus This item has its use, but it's too weak and expensive.
The homing upgrade looks cool, but doesn't do much. Here is a replacement proposal.
This upgrade is just a bit too expensive, especially given the next change.
Removing the stacking will reduce the need to combo with Sadak.
This item is just a bit too expensive. This item was overnerfed shortly after launch, because the skill was too strong to begin with at the time.
Some overpriced items.
Meanwhile, this one's underpriced.
This item is the strongest on the row, it doesn't need to stack further.
Nibbs
Some price adjustments.
Professor Yoolip Some adjustments to improve the item balance for the gaze row.
Some changes to make Dinos more reliable at base.
Now this upgrade has become useless.
Qi'Tara
Qi’Tara deals too much damage during Seven Star Strike, and too little outside of it.
Her relationship with speed feels disjointed, where attacking slows her down but Seven Star Strike speed her up etc. These changes also tie in with the issue above.
With the changes above, this upgrade has now become useless. This change will make Qi’Tara’s damage output more reliable.
Since the bug was fixed where this upgrade doubled your damage, this upgrade has become too weak
Salty Seal makes Qi’Tara almost unstoppable, this change should make counterplay possible again
Other tweaks and adjustments.
Raelynn
Rocco
Scoop His base attack is a bit too weak in general
Other tweaks and adjustments
Sentry
Reducing his efficiency of laying down mines in choke-points which has little to no counter-play.
With this change in mind, a counter-buff to help him land reliable damage output in close ranged scenarios.
Camouflage tent is currently emphasizing passive play. This change will reward aggressive use of his AA by increasing his chase potency and reliability.
Drive-over skulls is also providing a lot of easy chip damage and can be replaced with a more active timing based auto-attack.
Currently Black Hole Sun feels inconsistent and very hard to avoid, and if avoided it lingers for a whole 1.5s. This is an attempt at making BHS a more reliable ability and feel more fair on both ends. Starting with rewarding precision and aim on Sentry's end while allowing enemies to dodge the skill easier.
The next set of changes are both aimed at compensating for the size reduction but also to reduce the duration of BHS.
With these changes aside, his shield charging up also adds up a lot of time where he's difficult to punish. Reducing his shield duration both allows him for using his black hole quicker, while also being vulnerable faster.
With less up-time of his shields, his base shield scaling could be increased to fulfill his tanky role. This allows him to tank a little extra in fights and reward aggressive play.
Some Sentry's just leave their beacon sitting somewhere in order to reveal or permanently put pressure on an area.

Awesomenauts 4.5: Revenge of the Renegades is now available on Steam, and that means Qi'Tara is now available! The update also adds five new profile portraits to the mix, a number of additional features and tools for the in-game level editor, and much more.
NEW skin: Dark Masquerade Qi’Tara Serving as a member of the Order of the Scargi Emperor, Qi'Tara sometimes has to go undercover and blend into the crowd to protect Emperor Piere Feu Darret. Being a Chilasi (and armed to the teeth), that's rarely an easy feat. As a result, these tasks are usually left to other members of her Order when opportunities alow. Once a year though, during the national Splumb Carnival, Qi'Tara mingles with the splumb-covered, masked partygoers - marvelling many with what they think is an elaborate Chilasi-costume. The only ones that find out she's not just PRETENDING to be a heavily armed Chilasi warrior are the would-be assassins she encounters. For Qi'Tara the Splumb Carnival is the best day of the year as it allows her to indulge into her two favorite things: splumbs and murder. The Dark Masquerade Qi’Tara skin comes equipped with a fully customized voice set, and owning the skin will unlock a special portrait for use in-game. NEW: Renegade Command Announcer You've got the plan. You've got the weapons. You've got the explosives. You might even have an inside man to get you through the front door and into the facility. But none of that makes you a Renegade. For that, you need style. And a narrator. Let the Renegade Command announcer turn every mission you go on into something special. NEW: Awesomenauts Starter pack To help new players get started with Awesomenauts, we’re introducing a brand new Starter Pack. This bundle contains eight accessible characters that highlight various roles and playstyles, and is sure to contain a great line-up for players looking dive deeper into everything Awesomenauts has to offer. Already own one or more of the characters included in this pack? Don't worry! We'll give you the in-game Awesomepoint value for any of the characters you already own, giving you a jumpstart to unlocking other Awesomenauts. NEW: Character Bundles To help players obtain skins and relevant announcers for their favorite characters, we’re now offering Complete-the-set bundles on Steam that allow players to obtain content at a discount. Check out the armory to learn more about the bundles we have available! Profile Portraits

Awesomenauts 4.4: Cirque du Brawlee is now available! The patch notes for this update are included below, but we've posted a more reader-friendly summary of what's included in this update in another announcement. Brawls will present limited time opportunities to play with and against other players in special matchmade bouts with unique rulesets. From regular Awesomenauts matches on weird new maps to triple damage team deathmatch with only Rocco’s, Brawl is set up to spice up and diversify your Awesomenauts experience.NEW: Daily Missions Daily missions are random objectives that will award you with Awesomepoints when you complete them. You can have up to 3 Daily Missions available to you and a brand new mission will appear each day. Daily Missions will appear in the main menu and will have various different types of objectives and reward amounts. Some missions might require you to play a random character, while others will ask you to deal a specified amount of damage to enemy turrets. You will be able to complete these objectives in both the Co-op versus Bots and Online Match game modes. NEW: Main Menu Tiles Main Menu Tiles are banners in the main menu that point you to various aspects of the game. The game will try to figure out what kind of information is appropriate for you and will then show a tile for it. For example, tiles will alert you when a character is close to leveling up, or advise a certain game mode. NEW: Skill aiming visuals In order to help players see where their skills will end up, we’ve added aiming visuals for almost all of them. Some characters already had these visuals, like the Lunge for Deadlift or skills which require charging such as Lonestar’s Dynamite. Now when you hold down the action button to trigger a skill, you’ll see it’s effect visualized in the game. Letting go will then trigger the skill. Of course if you feel you don’t need it and want skills to trigger just that bit faster, you can turn it off in the settings. Known issues:
NEW premium skin: Soulhuntress Raelynn Whoever said 'The enemy of my enemy is my friend' sure never met Soulhuntress Raelynn. Though she spends her days hunting demons, cultists, and other evil scum (which lots of folk appreciate), she's not particularly nice company at parties and friendly get-togethers. One time she attended a feast some villagers organized in her honor and she used her laser rifle to 'cleanse' the demon-shaped chocolate cake the villagers had spent days to prepare for her in secret. In the end, she's just not a people person, and most people have learned to leave her alone and not invite her to their parties. This is a paid DLC and comes with a fully customized voice set and a portrait! http://store.steampowered.com/app/605940/Awesomenauts__Soulhuntress_Raelynn_Skin/ NEW announcer: Ringmaster Announcer Ladies and Gentlenauts, welcome to Cirque du Brawlee! It's a brand new show in the greatest big top of the galaxy. Step right up, step right up!http://store.steampowered.com/app/399837/Awesomenauts__The_Ringmaster_Announcer/ NEW portraits Several new portraits have been added in this update. These can be unlocked with AwesomePoints:
General
Aiguillon
Ayla Toning down some of the recent changes which turned Ayla players into Evil Eye + DoT cannons, and make Rage a bit more viable again.
Commander Rocket
Deadlift Triple Cowbells of Honor (-shield decay rate) stimulates trying to keep the Protective Pose shield active, while players are better off activating it when needed and starting the cooldown when it’s not needed. This replacement better fits this playstyle and adds to the skill ceiling by giving players further control over their shield.
Cowboy Boogeyman Storybook is underwhelming compared to his other options
Dizzy Slight reduction of Dizzy’s powerful clearing during midgame. -”Dizzy’s greatest hits”, damage increase now only affects Awesomenauts. Dizzy’s auto-attack base DPS is really weak. She’s supposed to be low-damage/low-risk, but it was a bit too much
Froggy G Since Twister Tweeters (explosion at end of Tornado) is very popular, the Tornado duration upgrade is considered very weak. This is because it postpones the Tweeters effect. If duration also allows for cancellation, it would allow players to trigger the Tweeters effect themselves. Additionally it would improve the ability against teams who have stuns to interrupt Tornado.
Genji While The last Pieridae Transformae is reasonably popular, it is one of the weakest options in the row as it makes Genji waste his most powerful skill on droids. Since it is unique and thematic we would like to keep it in some form though.
Attempt to rebalance the Blessing row.
Popular but on the weak side, Storm Drum could use a buff.
Gnaw Reduce price of DPS weedling items significantly, as they are outclassed by more burst-oriented and more efficient items.
Some tweaks to improve the item balance on his base attack row
Ix Adjustments to make bond a little less overbearing.
A slight buff to an underwhelming upgrade
Jimmy and the LUX5000 This upgrade is a downgrade in many cases, because of how the damage is spread.
Leon Surprise Party Mask (+damage out of stealth) is too expensive for what it does
Lonestar
Rocco Drawing speed is hardly a problem for Rocco, so the Birdseed Donuts (reduced draw speed) upgrade is very unpopular. It also makes lob-shots harder to pull off, which are a popular way of making arrow shots harder to dodge.
Scoop The Holy Cup has become the way to go in high level play as the benefits are huge for a close-knit team.
This upgrade gives too little compared to other upgrades in the same row, also too expensive.
A slight tweak to make this upgrade trigger a little less often
Sentry
This upgrade used to be useful for unintended extra burst damage for the Teleport Beacon ability, until it received a significant arming time in a recent update. This modification should make it more viable again
Skølldir

Awesomenauts 4.2: Fired Up! is available NOW on Steam! A new character, new portraits, and a huge amount of improvements! Play now and take out Smiles for a spin! If you already own the All Nauts Pack, Smiles will be automatically unlocked for you!
Short backstory: After he and the other renegades escaped from prison, Smiles hid in the swamps on Ribbit II. With a background of tracking and capturing targets, he put his skills to good use. The unorthodox method of poaching swamp rodents with his flame thrower, resulted in heavily burned pelts and hides, but it turned out a great business success as the dark charred bags were an instant hit on the amphibian black market. One day an old friend knocked on his door with a plan of vengeance. Step 1: join the Awesomenauts! NEW skin: Pyromancer Smiles Some crocodiles just want to watch the world burn. Pyromancer Smiles won't settle for that. He has peered into the flames and had visions of him setting all of creation ablaze! He's left the (now scorched) swamps of Ribbit II on a quest to fulfill this dark destiny, and stowed away on the Awesomenauts vessel to visit distant worlds. What's left standing after a battle is incinerated by the Pyromancer, until only ash remains. He's dark, he's angry, and he's armed with a flamethrower. Don't cross Pyromancer Smiles as he'll burn you to a crisp! The Flames command it! NEW: added portraits

We just updated the Open Beta for Awesomenauts 4.2: Fired Up! on Steam! Jump into the open beta to try out a whole bunch of tweaks to the new character, Smiles, as well as further experimental changes to Derpl, Yuri, and Ted McPain!
Modding
Ayla

Smiles
Highly Experimental, long term iterations The changes listed below are experiments for you all to play around with and tell us what you think. Unless there’s a majority or proponents reached, these changes won’t make it into the upcoming update. The idea is for us to iterate upon these ideas until they might one day make it into the game. Derpl Did some tweaks since last beta, trying to make tapping the trap button stick closer to the original behaviour. The trap now only flies out when fully charged
Ted McPain A lot of players shun shotgun because it’s a bit clunky and the high-cooldown, high-damage aspect is easier to mess op than the continuous stream from machinegun. This experiment tries to make him play a bit smoother, stimulating more players to switch weapons more frequently. Last beta the damage wasn’t actually nerfed to compensate, these changes should bring the values more toward the original Ted.
Changed Stimpack and upgrades to fit with the changes above.
Yuri Iterating upon the ideas from the last beta, trying to remove old restrictions to make Yuri play a bit smoother while making it possible for veterans to keep their style. Additionally trying to add more depth through the charges mechanic of his laser.

Existing Player rewards! We couldn’t possibly have made this massive update without the support of all our awesome existing players! That’s why everyone who played Awesomenauts before April 26th will automatically be rewarded ‘Founder’ status, granting an exclusive portrait and medal! Of course, you'll also have a huge head start over all newcomers, as you will already have lots of characters unlocked! Even better, if you own the base game plus both expansions before May 24th, you'll automatically be upgraded to the 'All Nauts Pack'! This grants you every 'Naut, forever. And as always, your feedback remains essential! So don't hesitate to tell us what you think of all these changes. Portraits, Medals and Droppods Custom Portraits, Droppods and Medals have been added to make sure there is plenty of cool stuff to unlock! To help show off these sweet new unlockables we've also taken the opportunity to completely overhaul the match intro and scoreboard. Not only does the new intro show off your Droppod, Medals and Portrait, it also gets everyone pumped to get started! Portraits can be gained through normal progress, while Medals are rewarded for achieving special feats. Droppods on the other hand, are bought with the new currency: Awesomepoints! Level up your Profile and Nauts! When playing matchmade games, both your Profile and played Naut will gain experience! And both of them can go up in level separately, granting you unique rewards. Items are now the first thing a 'Naut unlocks, which makes completing your build much faster. Levels will also get you Portraits, Awesomepoints and other goodies! The Profile screen has also be revamped to hold all everything progress related. Here you'll find your stats, 'Naut progress, Medals and Portraits. Awesomepoints are here! On top of experience, playing will also get you Awesomepoints! These can be spent on unlocking any 'Nauts you don't own yet, or the new Droppods and Portraits. Every Awesomenaut can be unlocked this way, even if they were previously part of an expansion. There's also a new testing environment for 'Nauts you don't currently own yet, so you can try before you buy! Real money is still the only way to buy the 'Naut skins, but can now also be used to buy individual 'Nauts and Droppods. Introducing the 'All Nauts Pack' If you just want to have all 'Nauts available to you at all times, this Pack is for you. It not only gets you all current 'Nauts, but also all the new ones as they come out! The Pack will also grant 'Collector' status, giving you an exclusive Medal and Lonestar skin. And as mentioned before, if you own the game plus both expansions before May 24th you will automatically be upgraded to the 'All Nauts Pack'! To help all our existing players upgrade to this Pack, we'll be discounting the expansions until the free-to-play launch. New game mode: Co-op vs. Bots! Not feeling very competitive today? Team up with your fellow man and take down a team entirely comprised of Bots! When firing up this new mode you can pick you own difficulty, and Galactron will go look for allies with similar wishes and a low ping. Beating up the Bots will net you rewards just like the regular vs. Player mode, so no worries about missing out. New menu: Armory! Want to pick up some new Awesomenauts or Droppods? You need to be in the Armory! Here you can easily browse all the content you’ve unlocked so far. Every item can be digged into for more details, including backstories and splash art. In case of the characters there’s lots of info on their gameplay too, including their Shop items and skills. You can even take characters for a quick testdrive! Recruit all the friends! Reaching level 5 will grant you a special recruitment code, which you can give to any other players! New players will be able to enter your key and unlock Raelynn, for free! Any player can only be recruited once! Whenever a player that you have recruited reaches level 8, you will gain 1000 Awesomepoints! You may recruit up to 50 players this way. Completely new tutorial! To help all those new players get their bearings in Awesomenauts, we've completely overhauled the tutorial. It features a lot less player downtime and also explains every aspect of the game a lot more thoroughly. The first mission still features Sheriff Lonestar, but in the second players can give Scoop a whirl to learn all about pushing and staying alive. All in all, there's a lot of awesome stuff in the new update, and there's even more to look forward to in the coming months. Exciting times are coming, and we'd once again like to thank you for all the support you've given us over the years. We're excited about the future, and hope you'll join us on this next step in our adventure! Thank you! - Ronimo Games |

After much deliberation we have decided to start again with regularly resetting the leaderboard scores of all players. While we figure out a more permanent and satisfying solution for the lack of long-term player progression, we feel that the added value of giving players something to work towards currently outweighs the cost of finding your place on the leaderboards after each reset. |
We just launched the 3.1.1 hotfix for Awesomenauts, fixing some issues players have been experiencing. |
