Hey, I'm Ditto. I made a game called GoNNER together with my two friends Martin and Joar. GoNNER won an Independent Games Festival award in Audio Design a few weeks ago.

Like, real talk, this is really fucking weird. The IGF means so incredibly much to us, so winning one doesn't feel real. It's an incredible honor. Thank you.

Me, Martin and Joar tried to have as much fun as we could while making a game together. The whole project actually started when Martin asked me if this strange little platformer I was working on needed sounds. He figured he wouldn't have to make footstep sounds because of the way the game looked, Martin hates making footstep sounds. Joar and I once jammed and made 10 songs each in an hour, 3 of those are actually in the game today. Martin would sometimes send me a folder of literally hundreds of sound effects and then tell me "do something fun with these!". Our process was always about surprising and challenging each other creatively while having as much fun as possible. If we ever had a tough decision to make, the option that made us smile would be the one we chose. It makes me really happy to see that the fun we had while making it shines through in the game!

We're honestly still trying to process the whole IGF thing. Wow!

But it's not over! In fact, nothing is ever over, after all, we're living in a looped reality where nothing really disappears, it just changes. GoNNER is changing too! Slightly! We're working hard on a nice update that is coming out .. SOON!! I'm getting a lot of complaints that the game is too easy, so we're adding a bunch of new enemies that will make the game even harder for hardcore players. I'm not even a little sorry. <3

Oh and hey, while I've still got your attention. GoNNER is coming out on Nintendo Switch. Yep, really! You'll be able to bring GoNNER with you on your Switch while riding a train, going to hipster parties or whatever it is people do outside their homes. Coming to the Nintendo eShop this summer!!

GoNNER is on sale!!

They say it couldn’t be done, that we’d never have enough titles in our library to offer a publisher-wide discount for every game we’ve published so far. Well, we proved you wrong, Mom. We even made an infomercial that is totally professional and definitely not quickly put together.
We’ve got a discount for every single Raw Fury published title on PC and mobile, and not only that but they are our biggest discounts to date!

More specifically, the award winning GoNNER is 66% off this week on PC!

Did you know GoNNER is available for the NVIDIA Shield as well?

While we got you check out our other games on sale! http://rawfury.com/raw-fury-spring-sale-has-begun/

We're not done with GoNNER by the way! We're hard at work on the Nintendo Switch version and the new content that's in the works for that will come to all you PC players as well! More news on that later this year.

GoNNER is 33% off during the Steam Winter Sale! The bundle plus the OST itself is also on sale if you're looking for one of the best soundtracks of the year.

Give the gift of a digital game to a loved one and help us turn the tide against the wrapping paper industry. Seriously it's a waste to wrap stuff. Just leave it in the box it was shipped in or something.

Raw Fury's entire game catalog is on sale if you're looking for more deals!

Happy holidays or whatever one says this time of year!!

This update is a week late, but it's just in time for the holidays! This week I wanted to concentrate on polish and fine tuning, so this week's update is subtle but important!

  • The Shotgun got a tune up. It now fires a more concentrated burst of bullets.
  • Some various minor visual changes / tune ups.
  • Fixed a bug some players experienced where they were dying after beating the game. (sorry!)
  • General optimizations to a lot of effects and how particles get generated.

I'm not much for holiday celebrations, but I will indeed enjoy some free time to play a bunch of video games and hang around with loved ones.

Take care <3

Updated challenge!

There's an update up with some tunings and tweaks to the Daily Challenge levels!

Next week is going to be the last weekly update before the holidays. Post a comment if there's something you'd love to see in that update maybe? Who knows what happens!! Stay tuned, stay fresh!

  • Fixed some acceleration glitches when using Time Stopper backpack
  • Fixed some icons not displaying properly in the highscores.
  • Spawning outside of the level in Daily Challenge should now be fixed!
  • Added some more variation to Daily Challenge, and added a chance to meet some of the bosses in there for good meassure!

[ 2016-12-09 23:12:00 CET ] [ Original post ]

Stop right there!

This weeks update contains a handful of nice little fixes and tweaks. But most of all it contains my new favorite backpack, the time stopper! If you want to find it, you'll have to search the ceiling, but be quick about it!

  • Hedgehogs can now be hurt a few frames after they start hiding.
  • Enemies you kill will always update the combo counter now. Even if they don't award points.
  • You can now see items you haven't unlocked yet, in Deaths lair!
  • Fixed a bug that could soft lock the tutorial levels.
  • There's a handful more enemies in Robot Kings level now!
  • I changed how gamepads are identified. Hopefully fixing issues some players had with gamepads not being found by the game.

And finally.. This week saw 2 players compete like crazy people over the top score. Horheristo and Spleen are both over 100k. 100.000 points. ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND POINTS! WHAT? YES! HOLY POOPSICLES! Congrats to both of you!

Steam Awards!

Valve is doing the first ever Steam Awards and you the fans have the power to vote for whatever game you think deserves to be nominated!

Perhaps you'd like to vote for GoNNER?! There are a couple of categories like "I Thought This Game Was Cool Before It Won An Award" and "Just 5 More Minutes" that could fit here. Or maybe you can nominate it for best space whale in the "We Didn't Think of Everything" category.

Obviously, the choice is yours and you're free to do what you want. We just wanted to make you aware this is happening among the chaos of getting together for the holidays and the Autumn sale.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Two new heads!

Black Friday is coming up, and to celebrate consumerism we've added two new heads to GoNNER!! They're hidden pretty well though, so you'll have to search carefully!

I've also added VSync to the graphics options, hoping the game will run a bit smoother for more people now!

  • Invisible ceiling to open levels. No more flying forever.
  • Pyramid head: shorter backpack cooldowns! NICE!
  • Heavy head: ... makes you heavy. Removes pushback from guns and deals more damage when jumping on enemies.

Finding the new heads are going to be pretty tricky. Here's a hint for one of them:
Somewhere in a bright place unless you died already.

BONUS: GoNNER is on sale this week too as part of Steam's Black Friday sale. Get the game for 20% off!

More Ghost Friends!

It's Friday! Let's update GoNNER? YEAH! oKAY! CooL! CAPSLoCK! HAHA!

I'm super excited about this update, there's a lot of cool new stuff! I've recently started experimenting with some super professional shaders and stuff. I didn't want to go overboard, so the changes are pretty subtle but it turned out super smooth! Hope you like it!

On top of that, there's now friendly ghosts! They're really helpful. There are 3 different ones in total, but you can only have one ghost following you at a time. How you find them I'll leave up to you! :)

  • ANTI EFFING ALIASING (also known simply as AA, lol)
  • Gear ghost: picks your gear back up so you won't have to!
  • Gun ghost: helps you shoot stuff PEW PEW
  • Glyph ghost: picks up glyphs for you. Really, who has time for that stuff, right?

Hint to get a ghost friend:
Sometimes when you're hurt, the best thing you can do is hug a friend <3

Gear updated: Ghosts!

Hey yo whaddup people!

There's a new update for the game! I try to upload a new update every week by the way! WOAH!

This week I've added a little something to the daily challenge, a friendly fairy-ghost-spirit-thingy! It'll help you keep track of your gear! Sweet! In a future update these will pop up in the main game, there's even going to be different kinds with different abilities! But until everything works as intended you can at least get a first feel for it in the Daily.

Apart from that this week's got a bunch of nice polish and balance:

  • There's an extra tutorial level in the "intro", and you can now play the intro from the main menu!
  • Camera mode, available in the gameplay options! If you dislike the camera, you can make it stop trying to be fancy now! NICE!
  • A minor fix to input handling. Hopefully more devices should work now!
  • A fancy controls display in the splash screen!
  • Sharkfin now gets deactivated when jumping through a World Snake.
  • Grey Bopskulls (the skull enemies in Death World that get grey if you kill enough of them.) no longer award combo.

That's it for this week, next week I hope to have the Fairy Merchant in the main game!! Keep your eyes peeled!

[ 2016-11-10 21:14:58 CET ] [ Original post ]

We're happy to announce a pretty hefty update to the game! Most notably is a big amount of optimization, hopefully resulting in stable 60 fps for a lot more players. Even more notable is the addition of a new gosh darned WEAPON? WOAH!!

Alright, bullet points time!!!

Gameplay changes:

  • A NEW MELEE BASED WEAPON, THE SCYTHE! I'm so excited about this one, we've been talking about melee since the first months of development but never got around to implementing one. FINALLY!
  • The Daily Challenge levels have been updated with some more layout variations.
  • The merchant now decorates his little hangout with lamps ... or mushrooms ... What are those things anyways? This game is really confusing.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a clipping issue that let you move through walls while inside the World Snake butt when entering a new level.
  • The merchant in Deathworld now stands on the ground like a normal person, instead of hiding outside of the level.
  • Fixed a bug that allowed permanent invincibility with the Godbox.
  • The leaderboards should now display "Nothing to show" if you don't have an entry yet, instead of "loading" forever.

Performance improvements:

  • Game now soft caps at 60 fps, which should allow for smoother fps in general.
  • Fixed a memory leak caused by sound sources. Should have a massive impact on performance!
  • Reduced the amount of server calls to Steam.

Finally, here's a little hint on how to unlock the scythe:
It's VERY expensive.

Daily Challenge!! New Update! WOAH!
Only playable once a day. Everybody gets the same level. With a seperate leaderboard that. Everything resets at midnight every day.

There's also fixes, patches, nerfs, buffs, balancing and polish. I'll write anything even remotely sensitive in spoilertag underneath to avoid spoiling it if you want to play blind! :)

  • Flame head makes you invulnerable to explosions, but has 2hp instead of 4.
  • Shotgun bullets die after flying for a little while now, effectively lowering it's range a little bit.
  • Unused runes will give you points when you end your run now.
  • Lightninggun bullet now dies unless it hits something within a short time. Making it more dependent on doing chain attacks.
  • Fixed the Infinite Combo achievement. Sorry about that.
  • You can now set your Keyboard setup, in options, to qwerty, azerty or qwertz. This is a quick compromize until we can update with completely rebindable controls in a future update. Until then, if there's a setup you miss, or feedback on the controls in general, I'm all ears! <3
  • You can turn off "wall sounds" in audio options now. Should help increasing your framerate in some cases.. There's more performance options/optimizations coming later as well.
  • MIGHT have fixed the lag when robot boss is dying. Don't know. Hope I did. If not I'll try to fix that asap.
  • Bullets no longer occasionally immediately disappear when wallsliding during lower framerates.
  • Lots more small fixes in a lot of places. Not gonna get more specific than that.

Thank you SO MUCH for playing and talking about the game! Watching videos and reading your comments about it helps me a LOT in trying to balance some of the items, but I also study it to figure out anything that would be cool/good/useful/nice/fun to add! Thank you!! <3
There's more updates planned in the future, we've got some really fun ideas we're playing around with that we'll talk about later maybe? Or just push it out in an update without mentioning it? We'll see what happens.
Also thank you so much for your patience when we had to delay this update, I messed up and I'm sorry about that!

    Update coming!

    Hello hey, heey!

I'm just here to say that I'm working on a pretty major update to the game. There's quite a few changes, fixes and balancing to the current game. There's fixes for keyboard controls. There's Performance fixes. There's even more visual crazy for high combos. There's even more secrets! Most notably though, there's Daily Runs! WOAH!

    SOON! <3

ps. For future updates, is it interesting to see me write out everything that's changed? Do you want that? Isn't it more interesting to go in blind and discover what's new? Am I just lazy? Tell me what you think in the comments <3

    [ 2016-10-18 02:54:48 CET ] [ Original post ]

    The missing intro level...

It turns out some people didn't get to see the intro levels when starting up the game for the first time. I've found and fixed what could be the cause for that!

If you haven't seen the intro, and want to, there's 2 ways.

You can either delete your savefile from the options. This will delete all your heads/guns/backpacks though! (Your highscore is save on the steam servers!)

Or, if you want to keep your items, you're going to have to localize GoNNERs savefiles, which are typically located in "appdata/LocalLow/ArtinHeart" (on windows) and delete the file named "skullhead".

The intro is super short, but super sweet. I hope you'll like it if you missed it the first time you played the game.

    Sorry about all that.

ps. there's some really really cool updates coming very soon! More info on Monday!!

I'm Ditto, I'm the programmer and artist on GoNNER! I'm so incredibly happy to have the game released and out in the public, it feels so weird and incredibly cool!! :D I'd like to say THANK YOU to everyone playing the game, it made my heart beat double seeing the leaderboards fill up with names today! Thank you for playing!!

I also just wanted to let you know I'm currently working hard making the controls rebindable in the GoNNER. I'm not sure how long it will take but it's coming VERY SOON, that's a promise, so stay tuned!!

We're planning a lot of cool stuff for future updates as well btw, more info on that early next week! I read every word you write in the forums and everything is taken into account when planning where to go with the game now! I'm so incredibly proud of the game we've managed to create, and also super excited about seeing if we can make it even better in the future!

ps. renamed the "Farmer" achievement name since it was misleading

    Thank you for playing <3

    Today you're a GoNNER

It's happening! GoNNER has been to conventions, featured in "oh wow can't wait for this game" lists, and we've even risked personal health showing it to you. Now, finally, you get to play it.

Ditto—the programmer, game designer, and artist behind GoNNER—has poured his heart and soul into this game. If you've met Ditto even once, or you follow him on Twitter, you can tell immediately that GoNNER is an extension of himself with its mesmerizing charm, instant likability, and beautiful chaos. Add in the wonderfully done sound design from Martin Kvale plus the wonderfully atmospheric soundtrack arranged by composer Joar Renolen and you have one of the best roguelike platforming experiences you'll see and hear this year.

GoNNER is $9.99 / €9.99 / £6.99 and is available on Steam. Visit gonnergame.com for more info.

    Thank you!

First off, I just wanna give a gigantic thank you to everybody currently playing on streams, on youtubes, for reviews, for giving me feedback and QA!! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! <3

You may have noticed that the leaderboards got wiped yesterday(sorry!), it was necessary to update what information gets sent to the server, to display more interesting results! Right now, apart from time/score, you can see all the items you used in your run, and what boss you managed to kill. It's a nice start, and I'll definitely update the leaderboards more in the future! (Oh and also, the leaderboards are going to look a little weird until everyone is playing the latest update. I'll try to delete 'old' entries every now and then to make sure it behaves like it should.. Just a heads up!)

Anyways, hope you enjoy the game, I'm really enjoying seeing your videos and scores on the leaderboards! I'll go back to fixing bugs and polishing now! Wednesday is SO CLOSE! There's going to be a new update tomorrow night, with some bugs squished and updated sound effects, so keep an eye out for that! <3

    Thank you again <3

    Some early previews on GoNNER

We're far far away from really showing you a ton on GoNNER. There's a trailer, some screenshots, and plenty of GIFs out there now. So. Many.
There's also some previews for you to read up on and learn a little more on what we're doing with GoNNER.

    had this to say:
If I could, I’d be playing GoNNER now. I’d play it in between everything else that I do in a day, even though I’d always be risking losing half an hour, two or three minutes at a time.
also had this to say:
Raw Fury Games’s upcoming platformer GoNNER has a lot to love in a lightweight package.
We're really excited to show you more. A ton more. Soon, we promise.
