We bring glad tidings from occupied Lowangen! After orcs had pushed back our scouts in skirmishes again and again, the first caravans with new relief goods have finally arrived. The Svellt Valley has been rebuilt and repaired many times over, and you, dear adventurers, may now feast on what the peoples of Aventuria have given you.

Version 1.04, Happy Holidays!

Hello fellow Aventurians!

After a long break, we have a patch for you again, fitting for the delay this is also a bit more extensive. In addition to a whole lot of smaller bug fixes, some bigger things were tackled as well. Among other things, there is now a "Comparison Tooltip" that allows you to compare your current equipment with an item in inventory or at a shop. We also added 32 new character portraits and as a big bugfix we significantly increased the performance in Lowangen. In detail:

  • Error when importing Blade of Destiny saves fixed; Characters with bolts in the left hand were skipped

We have a juicy package full of updates, improvements and fixes for you dearest adventurers! Most important is the fix of the dreaded Bloodscreen of death in the blood pinnacles, caused by a bug in our Engine Unity 5.6.2 which was only fixable with a major version upgrade to 2017.1. Big fix number 2 is a bug that prevented enemies of falling over in rare cases - this is bug is marked "busted" too. And there is a ton of detail adaptions, see for yourself:

General


  • Fixed bug importing Blade of Destiny characters. They were skipped when they had bolts in their hand.
  • Double-clicking items makes shopping easier
  • Examining weapons and armor at traders highlights characters that can use them
  • In the trader window, the item description is now displayed in the tooltip
  • The user interface is now scaleable (under Settings -> Graphic effects)
  • Cooking duration for all recipes has been completely revised (and shortened)
  • Introducing new weapon: Dwarven hammer
  • There is now a matching lower body armor for the deluxe dwarf chestplate
  • Crystal ball enchantments are now available for witches too (needs a special crystal ball)
  • Intro and main menu music finally obey volume settings
  • The characters in the character window were moved up and re more visible now

And a nice weekend to you all! After some minor problems arose after our Hotfix 1.01 and some old little bugs were still in there, we didn't want to wait too long and hereby present to you Version 1.02:



  • Checks for talents and spells inserted into the tooltips
  • Check for haggling at traders made a little easier
  • Fixed a missing translation in trader window
  • Modding: new modifier "nomoodcost", if a party member has this effect, no mood cost is deducted
  • In Kvirasim, Tiefhusen, and Lowangen, you can now read reports on the Third Orc Storm.
  • Trader kickout repaired in Lowangen
  • Aumond handling has been fixed
  • Ranged combat sound handling adapted, it should now match the volume to the other combat sounds
  • Class Effect of Skald "can ask people eternally" repaired
  • Unintenionally covers repaired in the portrait bar
  • Fixed the route planner, when turning around the planned route is now removed
  • Battle stance icons are visible again
  • Effecticons are visible again
  • Reworked representation of the class specialties in the status tab and at character generation

Version 0.95

Hail to the twelve!

This Update was all about "Sound": Actions in the inventory and out of it result in "audible Feedback", footsteps change their tone when stepping on a different underground, torches sizzle audible in Dungeons, water drips in caves and flows on fountains. We also included reworked spells, elfs now have their own "elfish representation" of the according formula. Combat also sounds a lot more lively, even though it isn't completely done yet, there is more to come! In Detail:

General


  • The heroes now give audible comments in certain situations (e.g., injured, becoming leader)
  • All doors in dungeons now have soundeffects
  • Soundeffects added to inventory actions (e.g. eat, equip and drop)
  • Warriors and Dwarfs now get a bonus on encumberance ("armor familiarity")
  • Mages, druids, and witches can now access new wardrobes.
  • The travel experience "buzz and hum" now has a soundeffect.
  • It is now possible to exchange water in the inventory between waterskins and glass / water bottles.
  • In dialogs with group NPCs their portraits are now displayed.
  • The footstep sounds now adapt to the respective underground.
  • A further fix attempt was made for blurry spell texts
  • Spell voiceovers have been completely replaced, there are also separate elf interpretations
  • The spell "Eagle, Wolf" is now only applicable to the caster himself.
  • The effect "healattempt" after trying to heal wounds now lasts 24 hours instead of formerly 8.
  • Effect "healattempt" is now no longer set on several other occasions, like with dagger rituals or when sleeping in Finsterkoppen
  • A rabies infection is no longer identifiable by medical practitioners

Hail to the twelve!

This Update was all about "Sound": Actions in the inventory and out of it result in "audible Feedback", footsteps change their tone when stepping on a different underground, torches sizzle audible in Dungeons, water drips in caves and flows on fountains. We also included reworked spells, elfs now have their own "elfish representation" of the according formula. Combat also sounds a lot more lively, even though it isn't completely done yet, there is more to come! In Detail:

General


  • The heroes now give audible comments in certain situations (e.g., injured, becoming leader)
  • All doors in dungeons now have soundeffects
  • Soundeffects added to inventory actions (e.g. eat, equip and drop)
  • Warriors and Dwarfs now get a bonus on encumberance ("armor familiarity")
  • Mages, druids, and witches can now access new wardrobes.
  • The travel experience "buzz and hum" now has a soundeffect.
  • It is now possible to exchange water in the inventory between waterskins and glass / water bottles.
  • In dialogs with group NPCs their portraits are now displayed.

Biggest addition and therefore worth a bigger Version leap is the accessability of the Dungeon below Tjolmar including the fight againast Arkandor and therefore the completeability of the game! So all dungeons and towns from the original can now be entered. In Detail:

  • The zoom factor of the minimap and the full-screen map is now saved
  • You can now set, edit and delte your own markers on the minimap

With today Update the Blood pinnacles dungeon is finally available, a content extension promising several hours of additional gameplay! Moreover, the trade interface was completely reworked and is immensely more comfortable than before, and of course there were huge amount of bug fixes and feature implementations!

Version 0.80

Hail to the twelve!

We were able to carry through on a big promise of ours: Importing games from Blade of destiny HD. It was implemented and now imports your dear heroes from our predecessor. Other data is imported too, heroes below 1.450 XP will be upgraded to that value. The game doesn't have to be finished, but it must reside in the old savegame directory (Documents/BladeofDestiny/save).

Hail Hesinde my Dears!

Hesinde is the aventurian goddess of wisdom and magic, and magic is exactly what we did together with our Alpha Team right before the Easter Holidays! New Features include unlocking of the Steam Workshop, which allows supereasy installation of Mods. Moreover, the DSA CraftyTool found its way onto your hard drive, required for creating those Mods. I want to bring your attention to http://wiki.sternenschweif.com , it is just german at the moment but it can be a starting point, and we are happy to help anybody wanting to get involved! And I wanted to thank my hard-working Alpha Team that not only tested everything before releasing it to you, but who also provided some of their Mods as starting points for the Workshop!

  • The camp scene on travels now displays all heros that are able to act
  • The camp scene on travels now shows the current weather conditions and the time of day
  • Dullskull was revised. Dwarfs are now especially bad tempered when suffering from it
  • The dwarf crossbow received a unique image
  • When surviving a serious illness without any healing, the according hero receives experience
  • Battle fever was revised. Elfs suffer more than other races
  • Rabies was revised. Elfs are immune to it, all others now actually get the rabies

Version 0.78 released

Hail to the twelve!

With todays Patch the Character editor so far only available for the "modding" area is now also active in the "normal" game. When generating characters in the temple, there is a new button "Edit Look" right below the left "Roll dice" button. Almost every detail of your new character can be adapated here, Moreover, generated characters from now on display their worn equipment instead of always looking the same!

ATTENTION: Existing Charakters are NOT automatically displaying their equipment! In order to make them, please go to a temple, activate the "Group management" and use the new button "Edit Character Looks" on the respective portrait and possibly adapt your character. After closing the editor, the equipment should also be displayed for existing characters. This is only necessary once!

  • The new background scene "Brinasker marshes" was added eingefügt

Update Version 0.75

I apologize for the long time since the last update, I was sick for the better part of the last two weeks and unable to release the already completed update. The absolute highlight of this update is a huge content update including the complete city of Lowangen and along with it the Dungeon "Swamp of the Forgotten". This includes all the quests, dialogs, conversations, specials and other content for both locations. We are especially proud of Lowangen, the largest city in the game by far, with more than 150 buildings, three distinguishable districts and nearly 200 NPCs in the Streets. The swamp is also huge, with more than 600.000 m². Both locations have been implemented with the Version of 1994 as a template and with a myriad of improvements and corrections. And of course, there is a lot of other improvements:

  • The sleeping potion effect has been improved and extended
  • There are now different arrow and bolt variants
  • The slingshot can now use different ammunition types
  • Shields have been rebalanaced
  • Gorah's Robe (from Blade of Destiny HD) now has special properties
  • Traumatic fever and blue wheeze are now curable by heroes
  • New sickness: swamp fever
  • Several uncritical errors causing log entries have been fixed

Version 0.74

Version 0.74 of Startrail HD is mainly a "maintenance" release, improving a myriad of small bugs and little features that were just piling up and needed to get done. Most notably, the battle speed settings were repaired, so battle should run even more smoothly now. We also completely redesigned the tavern screen, but see the complete list for yourself!

  • Encumbrance of helmets adapated
  • Normal skills can now be influenced by current encumbrance
  • Levelup points for all classes have been increased
  • Salamanderstones are now labeled on the travel map

Big Highlight of this Version is the completely reworked and enhanced battles, from damage types to maneuvers and actions a lot was changed, extended, improved and fixed. Moreover, we included a little christmas tree search for you, we would be happy to see some screenshots from those you found!

Features
Battle


  • The battle system has been changed to "Actions", at the moment everything costs 1 Action, but therefore allows for double the movement distance
  • All weapons now have a specific damage type (cut, thrust, blunt)
  • Some monsters no have resistance (half damage), immunity (no damage) or vulnerability (double damage) on specific damage types
  • Monsters can also cause specific damage types
  • Implemented the melee maneuver "relentless attack"
  • Implemented the ranged maneuver "targeted shot"
  • Melee and ranged attacks now display a chance of success as a tooltip
  • Added some buttons to make control of the battles easier
  • Improved lighting in some battle arenas
  • Added new simple weapons: club and wooden spear
  • The battle arena camera can now be tilted in a wider range and can also be tilted now via right mouse button dragging
  • Saving and loading is now also possible while in battle
  • Items can now modify the damage caused by weapons (e.g. fine arrows or magic items)
  • The battle order display (top left corner) was improved and also allows highlighting the next characters when hovering over the respective portrait
  • Weapon wear and tear has been reactivated
  • Ranged weapons are also subject to wear and tear
  • Encumbrance is now also correctly used in ranged battle
  • Ranged weapons are now twohanded because of the new bolt and arrow slots
  • We can now set specific starting positions for heroes and monsters, e.g. to create battles in narrow passageways
General

  • The witch can now enchant her witch kettle, similar to druids and magicians
  • there is an introductory text when entering the starting temple on game start
  • Help has been extended for current topics on battle actions, maneuvers and the like
  • The initial values for spells are more in line with the pen and paper rules
  • The avatar in the character screen is not cut off on top any more, should it be too big
  • The gameover text has been adapted
  • UI scaling can now be modified with the console (F9) command "uibasescane 100" (where 100 is the percentage of the base scaling). Moving this to the settings is on our todo
  • "Take all items" now uses the currently selected hero instead of the party leader as "first to try"
  • The spell categories have been reorganized and extended
  • All 8 possible companions have a unique avatar now
  • Some scripting commands have been added or extended
  • Save games can now be saved with only one letter filename length (before: 3)
  • The whetstone has been renamed to weapon care kit
  • Only useful spells can be selected as "free spells"
  • Captions of the keyword dialog window have been improved
Travel

  • In a new game, the main road through the svellt valley and its main cities are already known
  • The ferryman now has a more suitable goodbye
Towns and Cities

  • Santa Claus rode across the svellt valley and placed some trees, one per town and city. Who can find them all? ;)
  • The market assortments have been reworked
  • The keyword dialog for the market in Kvirasim has been improved
  • The way up into the settlement in Kvirasim has been improved
  • The keyword dialog for the market in Gashok has been improved
  • Gashok was a little optimized
  • Removed some quest spoilers in Gashok
  • Tiefhusen has been completely reworked (e.g. curbs, ground texture) and optimized
  • Tiefhusen's water has been improved
  • Tiefhusen will now load a lot faster
  • The map of Finsterkoppen has been resized
  • The gate guards in Finsterkoppen now also react to Elfs, Druids and Witches on the way out
Dungeons

  • In the Cellar vault there are now some "very cramped" battles

  • The Ingerimm-Picture in the Finsterkoppenbinge is now better staged
  • A battl ein the Finsterkoppenbinge was improved so all monsters can actually reach the heroes

Bugfixes
Battles

  • The characters don't move way too far any more
  • The arena mountain-01 was repaired (e.g. Harpy battle)
  • Characters are now "correctly killed" from effect damage
  • A problem with the line of sight calculation has been fixed
  • Beneficial spells do not "kill" the receiving heroes any more
  • Characters should be visually killed correctly when they are supposed to
  • A problem with heroes not attacking in autobattle was fixed
  • Autobattle shouldn't cause characters to try to occupy the same fields any more
  • Harpys don't have money on them any more

General

  • When selling, Items past position 21 now appear correctly in the sell list
  • The intro music now correctly respects music volume
  • The hero portrait can be changed correctly again
  • The avatar in the character generator is correctly and always changeable now
  • A remark to Blade of Destiny has been removed
  • Temple cannot be left with empty party any more
  • The Wanderer-Set in the Character editor was fixed
  • Arrows and bolts are now correctly placed in their respective equipment slots
  • The Buy-dialog can now be left without buying anything
  • The minimap is now in the correct location regardless of resolution
  • All items can now be correctly thrown away
  • All items can now be correctly equipped via button
  • The gameover-scene now has the correct music
  • An overlapping error in the diary has been fixed

  • The mountainside of Finsterkoppen lost its acoustic birds

  • Barrels in Finsterkoppen are now correctly recognized as obstacles by the NPCs

  • An XP-Exploit at the socket riddle in the Cellar vault was fixed
  • Deactivated bolt traps in the Finsterkoppenbinge are now only reported once
  • Many jumpy elements in the Finsterkoppenbinge were fixed
  • Texture glitches in the Finsterkoppenbinge were fixed
  • Some inaccessable areas in the Finsterkoppenbinge were better fenced off
  • Some collision bugs in the Finsterkoppenbinge were fixed
  • Some graphical glitches in the Finsterkoppenbinge were fixed
  • A chest in the Finsterkoppenbinge was turned around
  • A dialog in the Finsterkoppenbinge was fixed


Unfortunately there is a little downside to this really long list: we were unable to get all the new texts translated in time, so you might encounter several "untranslated codes" instead of texts. We are sorry for this inconvenience and will try hard to get this down first thing in January and issue a patch as soon as it is done!

Updatenotes Version 0.71

Updatetime! After initial release last week we are already full speed ahead into the first Updates! Current plan is to have at least biweekly updates, with changes that are worth it getting their own update in between the regular schedule. Biggest changes in this update are the character generator and levelups, both are fully operational again and were extended with a "simplified" mode. In Detail:

New Features


  • The character generator is now available. As an intermediate step you can "roll" the looks of your characters from a given set specific per class until the actual character designer is implemented
  • A simplified system for character creation has been introduced. You can switch between simplified and classic at any time in the settings
  • Levelups are now operational

  • There are a lot more different camp fights now, and they are better applied according to the current location
  • Part of the startrail quest was buggy, it can now be played from beginning to end
  • 6 new battle arenas in night lighting have been added
  • The fog of war on maps is now a lot more detailed. Disclaimer: This change breaks your already explored parts on the maps of dungeons and towns, you need to reexplore
  • Tiefhusen has received citizens
  • Opacity of windows has been increased for readability
  • wells in towns can now be used to refill your water supplies
  • Tiefhusen: An animation for traveling with Hensger has been introduced
  • Binge: The lore ride received a simple animation
  • Small hints added to the phex temple
  • Made some balancing adjustments for journeys
  • Set default framelimit to 60. Can be deactivated by mod or in schweif_data/_data/globalsettings.xml
  • Stores in towns now are open from 6 am to 8 pm
  • The fishing-hook received a (described) snell
  • Random battles on journeys have received better balancing capabilities
  • Help has been improved and exteded with new information. Still accessible with F1 or Questbook -> Help
  • Tooltips for the two icon buttons in the item window

  • Several battle avatars which got stuck repeatedly have been fixed
  • The developer contact form has been fixed and now automatically attaches the output_log.txt and consolelog.txt files of your current session to better find the problem you have
  • A spoiler in the loading screen has been removed
  • There were some memory leaks on the travel map which have been removed
  • Some dialogue errors have been fixed
  • Some texting errors have been fixed
  • There are "town limits" now that prevent the party from leaving accessible areas
  • Some container dialogs received a suitable image
  • All 4 market booths in Kvirasim are now working correctly
  • The bridge in Gashok has been made safer
  • A wrong reference to Blade of Destiny has been removed
  • Items don't get stuck on the hero portraits any more
  • Effect icons now correctly appear on top of the Portraits
  • The radial menu now correctly appears after battles
  • Binge: several smaller bugs fixed
  • The strange bar above the minimap is gone
  • Kvirasim: several smaller bugs fixed
  • Binge: even equipped items now get removed correctly (e.g. the torch at efferds sponge)
  • Tooltips and the radial menu always remain completely on screen now
  • A memory leak on saving the fog of war has been fixed
