Save The Date: July 27th, 2023
After a wild ride together, Arcadian Atlas is officially launching on Steam July 27th and we couldn't be more excited to see our passion project in the hands of the people! The story of Lucretia's struggle for the crown, Annalise's search for power in a world that's only marginalized her, and of course Vashti and Desmond's fight to hold onto each other - and their humanity - through it all have become so much more to us than the sum of its parts. And then there's Poncho. Dear, sweet, furry Poncho - you've stolen our hearts, and probably our wallets.
The prospect of seeing others share in the tense tactical battles, enjoy the rich character-driven narrative, and delve into their min/maxing fantasies through hundreds of skills, item combinations, and tomes of lore is on the forefront of our minds and hearts as the next month brings us closer to release.
Vinyl Soundtrack Preorders Open

Welcome back to another Arcadian Atlas update as we creep ever closer to release! This month we have a sneak peak at our final advanced class: Reaver, along with some of the finishing touches as we draw closer to our Gold build!
Squashing Bugs and Picking Fonts
As we near gold, we're doing some of the final stage polish and bug squishing, putting a fine sheen on everything and seeing it come to vivid life! A few of the highlights:
Bugs:
We're now up to 270 bugs squashed just in the last 2 months alone - Paddy has been fixing them as quickly as we can find them. A huge thanks to everyone who play tested builds at GDC, Pax East, and Steam Fest - your bug reports have been invaluable to finding and squishing those quickly!
Localization:
we've begun testing out some lovely fonts for Japanese, Chinese, and Russian fonts, as well as adding specialized characters to all our current fonts to ensure accent marks and other special characters are fully supported!
Achievements:
We've completed testing of achievement unlocks for all 40 unlockable achievements to ensure their triggers are all in place and functioning properly!
Polish:
And last but certainly not least, we've refined many aspects of the game including a revamp of the Title Screen and logos, with 29 tutorials, over 30 tavern chatter entries, over 80 cutscenes, and over 40 compendium entries - this is well and truly a labor of love come to life!
The Reaver
The Reaver lives their life in the shadows, mastering the art of one-on-one combat and quickly slinking back into stealth to survive another day. Those studied in the Dagger Arts tree have honed their reflexes with tiny blades, delivering a flurry of blows to deal status effects with every strike, while those of the Hired Assassin tree favor critical backstabs and recruiting the shadows to fight for them, leaving their foes broken both physically and mentally.
Delaying Strike
Need to push a unit further back in the turn order to perfectly time a delayed skill? Delaying Strike does just that, while also dealing damage!
Heart Stop
While it doesn't deal much damage, Heart Stop is guaranteed to inflict Stun Status on a foe, ensuring they miss their next turn.
Smoke Screen
Not all traps are bad! The Reaver's Smoke Screen actually bestows a huge bonus to EVADE on any friendly units ending their turn in its radius.
Backstab
While the SP cost is high, Backstab is a hugely powerful skill guaranteed to critical against the Reaver's target.

(apologies for the slight delay, I lost track of time! - Becca) It's that time again! Welcome to another monthly Arcadian Update! This month we've got a new advanced class to show off in the Ronin, along with news on achievements and localization - so get your katanas at the ready and let's dive right in!
Achievements & Localization
As we near completion on the gold build of Arcadian Atlas, we've turned our eye to all the bells and whistles that come along with game development.
Localization
We've begun our localization search for the perfect translators to the Arcadian Atlas script - which is huge, running the gamut from cutscene dialogue, skill & item descriptions, tavern contracts, chatter, compendium entries, and tutorials. We'll keep you all posted as we secure additional language translators so we can see the full spectrum of languages available upon launch - so stay tuned!
Achievements
Who doesn't love a little recognition for their hard work!? That's why we're chipping away at some of the creatively implemented achievements to make sure not just story progress but also mastery of the skill and battle systems are rewarded. Find a sneak peak of some of the achievements below:
"No Think, Only Smash"
- Inflict Rage on a single unit in battle.
"Jack of All Trades"
- Learn all skills in a single skill tree in one playthrough.
"Created In Our Image"
- Respec any unique unit (Desmond, Vashti, Eda) using CMD Point rewards.
The Ronin
The Ronin is wholly aligned with honorable warriors of the past, harnessing their spirits in the Wandering Soul tree to bestow healing on allies and cripple foes while channeling the unrelenting rage of their time on the battlefield in their Battle Trance tree, losing all control for huge bonuses to ATK, Criticals, and self-preservation.
Possessing Spirit
[previewyoutube=11Mq86Wl0yE;full][/previewyoutube] Possessing Spirit is one of the few skills that inflicts Charm Status on a foe, turning them to your side for a brief period of time, while leaving the Ronin weakened as a trade-off.
Blade Blossom
[previewyoutube=MeI6zhUGggo;full][/previewyoutube] A versatile class, the Ronin's Blade Blossom heals and bestows Regen Status on all allies in a radius emanating from the Ronin.
Battle Trance
[previewyoutube=4zchTfiTuiI;full][/previewyoutube] The bread and butter of the Ronin's Battle Trance tree, this skill inflicts a rage on the Ronin, restricting all skills for 3 turns to Basic Attacks, while bestowing huge bonuses to Critical Chance, Critical Power, and Attack.
Enraging Field
[previewyoutube=igvcpbGslZw;full][/previewyoutube] A powerful trap skill, Enraging Field lays down a 3 tile square that inflicts Rage Status (preventing all but Basic Attacks) to those ending their turn within it.

Hello again to the wonderful world of Arcadian Atlas updates!
It's a new month which means a new Arcadian Update, where we share new features, skills, maps, and everything Arcadian Atlas from the Twin Otter team! But we've got a lot of fun Pax East updates and new class skills to show off - so off we go!
PAX East Updates
We wanted to extend another giant thank you to everyone who played the newest Arcadian Atlas demo at PAX East! We had a blast seeing all the cool cosplay and gained even more feedback and bug reports! We'll share a few of our favorite pictures below, and stay posted for future shows you can find the game at as we near our summer release!
We think you'll notice the gorgeous new art from Jasmin Darnell - find her on instagram @ya.hime , and we hope everyone who had a chance to come by the booth had a blast!
The Hunter
The Hunter knows that mans greatest foe is one that strikes from above, catching them unawares. With their Death From Above tree, the Hunter and their Animal Companion rain deadly strikes from the skies, while the Guerrilla Tactics tree turns the battlefield into a minefield, laying traps and making foes regret ever stepping foot into Hunter territory.
Explosion Shot
[previewyoutube=inpD5K8sCdU;full][/previewyoutube] Explosion Shot sends a flame-tipped arrow at a main target that explodes, impacting foes around them with splash Fire Element damage.
Slumber Trap
[previewyoutube=588yLA1T92U;full][/previewyoutube] Slumber Trap lays a 3 radius trap that causes all foes within its range to fall asleep, and affects any enemies entering the trap for the next 3 turns. Just don't attack them or they'll wake up!
Fire Trap
[previewyoutube=bfeJe9mAtig;full][/previewyoutube] The Hunter sends their companion to lay flaming traps on the battlefield in a 3 tile radius that burns all within, and inflicts Burn Status on any entering the trap afterwards.

Steam Next Fest Improvements
We wanted to extend a huge thank you to everyone who played the Arcadian Atlas demo for Steam Next Fest and provided a wealth of improvement ideas and bug reports! It was truly a humbling experience seeing the outpouring of support from fans and newcomers alike, and we've been working away at all the feedback to ensure the game is even better! A sneak peak at what's in the works below:

New Key Art
We commissioned the extremely talented artist Jasmin Darnell to hand-craft some lovely new key art for the game. Youll see this art on Steam and other sites as our MAIN advertising illustration from here on out. Were extremely excited to present to you.
Catch us online with this new advertising artwork from here on out!
The Monk
The Monk, one of Apothecary's advanced jobs, has spent years rigorously training their body and pouring over books of the arcane, using their Furious Blows tree to strike so quickly and so often that they bypass DEF, only considering the MDEF of their foes and attempting to chain their skills endlessly one into another, while those of the Arcane Energies tree channel that energy into powerful bolts to heal or harm and alter time itself to haste allies or slow their foes. Arcane Bolts
Arcane Bolts sends 4 bolts of pure, element-free energy towards the target, not only damaging them but guaranteed to inflict Slow Status, ensuring their turn is delayed in combat. Blinding Spin
Blinding Spin is an invaluable AoE skill for damaging units directly around the Monk while also making it more difficult to hit them by inflicting the Blind Status effect. Martyr
A Monk's last - and most powerful - resort, Martyr deals the full Max HP value of the Monk to their foes, but leaves the monk completely drained, with only 1 HP and 1 SP remaining.
New Social!
And for all of those who want the latest videos and info, we've got a brand new Instagram to add to the usual socials. Find us at:

They sacrifice DEF to gain additional MDEF, getting in close to mages as quickly as possible and attempting to turn foes Undead, dispatching them with Holy Element damage and SP crippling skills while bestowing huge bonuses to their allies through Grand Auras. The Inquisitor uses the strength of their faith to fight back the darkness in the world. A true shining light, perfect for this holiday season.
Silencing Ray Silencing Ray deals damage and inflicts Silence. As a mage-killer, inflicting Silence and preventing magic use is a crucial tactic for the Inquisitor.
Smiting Blow This skill deals a large amount of HP Damage, but also damages a target's SP based on the Inquisitor's MDEF stat, helping to cripple magic users in two ways. The Inquisitor has many different ways of disarming magic users.
Grand Aura Grand Aura increases both the MDEF and DEF stat of all friendly units within the trap area, and this effect persists for 2 turns and can be further modified by other skills to bestow even more benefits. In addition to crippling enemy mages, Inquisitors can also shield their party from enemy magic.
Happy New Year!
We hope everyone had a happy holiday season and we are wishing everyone a safe and successful new year! We deeply appreciate all of your support throughout Arcadian Atlas development and to celebrate the start of 2023 (our release year) we have a bonus skill and a nice surprise to show off as a special treat!
Rapture Drop holy wrath on a foe to deal 110% Holy Element DMG with a 30% chance to inflict Stun Status. Cleanse the battlefield of your vile foes with this powerful Holy attack! Skill Tooltips You might have already caught a glimpse of this new UI addition in the gifs included in this update, but we have added skill tooltips! Thanks to all of the valuable feedback we received from our PAX West demo, we have implemented a Skill Info Box that appears in the top left corner of the screen to describe what a skill does, along with a Skill Range display which will show you the range of a skill on the battlefield as you hover over it in the Action List. Hey there, folks! Welcome to Arcadian Updates, where we share super cool updates for Arcadian Atlas that the Twin Otter team are working on, including new maps, classes, mechanics, and much more! We'll have more to share as time goes on, so follow along and check it out!
The Druid
The Druid has become so enmeshed with the natural elements only dreamt of in their Warmancer days that theyre able to create phenomena from nothing. With the ability to harness the power of Ice, Fire, Lightning, and Earth to their benefit, lets dive deeper into the Druids skills.
Blinding Light This skill deals a large amount of Holy Element damage and is guaranteed to Blind the selected target. Pack a punch and gain a tactical advantage over your enemy all in one move!
Blizzard Blizzard deals a medium amount of Ice Element damage to all units in a large radius with a chance to Slow and Freeze all caught within its blast. This is a moderately powerful AoE attack that can also slow your enemies attack, buying your units extra time on the battlefield.
Prepare Casting A self buff usable once per battle, Prepare Casting gives the Druid drastically faster cast speed for five full turns - a perfect intro move before unleashing a wave of elemental spells.
Earthquake Similar to Blizzard, this skill deals a medium amount of Earth Element damage over a large radius with a chance to Stun all enemies within the blast.
Forest Spirit
The Forest Spirit is a powerful, ethereal being without known origin that weighs the actions of humans and passes judgment on those attempting to harm the one who summons it. Also, if your Thanksgiving turkey looked like this, it was probably overcooked. We can't wait to show off more Arcadian Atlas content in December! Stay tuned for more on our socials! Our Scariest Update Yet
In honor of Spooky Season, this months update will focus on some of the more supernatural and sinister skills included in Arcadian Atlas! Prepare yourselves for some ghoulish sneak peeks!
The Shaman
The Shaman dabbled too long on the fringes and dark recesses of science, learning to manipulate the powers of life and death sometimes for good, and sometimes to the horror of all who witnessed. We already introduced the Shaman class back in February, but we didnt touch on any of their advanced skills. Lets take a look at their supernatural abilities below.
Nightmarish Vision This skill puts a target to sleep and inflicts a myriad of negative Status Effects such as Wet, Limp, Fracture, and Blind. Pray that the Shaman is fighting on your side, as this skill is truly the stuff of nightmares for the Shamans enemies.
Unholy Revival Once per battle, this skill allows the Shaman to revive all unconscious allies with a small amount of HP, but completely drained of SP and Undead, meaning normal healing harms them. Raising allies as undead is both spooky and convenient!
Blood Puppet This skill allows the Shaman to control a target's bloodstream, inflicting Charm for 2 turns, while the Shaman has Stop Status and 60% DEF & MDEF for 2 turns. Turn enemies into allies against their will with this sinister skill.
End Times Once per battle, this skill grants the Shaman the ability to rain down hellish fire and brimstone upon the entire battlefield, damaging foes and halving their SP. If this fiery skill doesnt kill your enemies, it will at the very least severely injure them, making them easy pickings for your allies. Thank You!
Before we jump into all the good stuff, we just wanted to thank everyone who came out to PAX West and played the Arcadian Atlas demo! We have been reviewing all of the player feedback and are working on making every possible improvement to the game as we approach our Summer 2023 release date.
Advanced Skills
Fire Trap (Hunter Skill) The Fire Trap skill is reserved for the Hunter Class. Using your owl companion, lay flame traps on the battlefield that persist for 3 turns, burning foes and allies that stop or start their turn on them. Additionally, the Hunters owl companion attacks an enemy whenever the Hunter attacks, making them both cute AND deadly.
Second Skin (Reaver Skill) The Reaver has the ability to generate a Second Skin. Create a shadowy skin for yourself, bestowing temporary HP for 5 turns that absorbs blows until depleted. This is a great defensive skill that can extend a Reavers time on the battlefield.
Blade Blossom (Ronin Skill) The Ronin has skills that are deadly and others that are restorative, like Blade Blossom. Cherry blossoms blanket the battlefield, bestowing Regen status on all allies and healing them a small amount while delivering slow healing over time for 3 turns. This skill is perfect when you find yourself in a pinch and your allies are low on health.
Skill Tree (Ronin) Each Advanced Class will have two branching skill trees to allow for increased strategic customization of units. The Ronin features the Wandering Soul tree and the Trance Arts tree. Under the Wandering Soul tree, Ronin units can harness the spirits of their warrior ancestors and bestow healing on their allies while crippling their foes. The Trance Arts tree focuses the rage of fallen warriors into powerful attacks and modifiers. We can't wait to show off more Arcadian Atlas content in October! Stay tuned for more on our socials! PAX West 2022
Arcadian Atlas will be playable at PAX West! Stop by the Serenity Forge booth (757) to check out our demo. If you cant make it to PAX, weve got you covered! In this months update we will break down the demo and its features.
The demo includes two battles, the first of which takes place at Waite Ruins (pictured above). Vashti, Desmond, and Eda have a brief run in with Fennic before Poncho joins their team and they find themselves fighting off a group of Warmancer thugs. Test your strategic skills as you select your units and enter combat with both melee and ranged tactics!
Outside of battle, you can visit town to recruit new units and build out your party. You can also upgrade your units or buy stronger equipment to unlock their full potential on the battlefield.
The second battle occurs in the town of Amblemere. Vashti, Desmond, Eda, Poncho, and Annalise once again encounter Fennic. This time he has run into Lucretian soldiers who would like to forcibly conscript him into their army (pictured above). Once your party has dispatched the Lucretian soldiers, you are faced with a major decision that will shape the games story. As one final bonus, we will have an exclusive goodie available for those that will be attending PAX West. If you fill out a short feedback form after completing the demo, you will receive a PAX-exclusive Arcadian Atlas sticker featuring Poncho & Lefty! (pictured below)
We look forward to seeing the feedback from those of you who will play our demo at PAX West, as it will be crucial in these final stages of development. Stay tuned for more monthly updates as we continue to approach our Summer 2023 release. Next month we will be taking a deeper look at the advanced classes in Arcadian Atlas! Darmouthe Bridge
Once a main thoroughfare for Dantalion troops against foreign invaders, those wars have been long forgotten alongside Darmouthe Bridge. Overgrown and barely traveled except by brigands and mages fleeing persecution, the bridge is now a haunt as much as the fortresses it once connected. But when Lucretia's rising army begins searching for new places to recruit, those fortresses just might gain new uses - and Darmouthe Bridge may hear the clatter of swords and shields once more. Included in the below screenshot of a battle on Darmouthe Bridge is a sneak peek at water traversal. Adding an entirely new dimension to the battlefield, water traversal allows you to expand your strategy and engage enemies from unique angles.
Story Cutscenes
As we mentioned in the June Update, we are nearing completion of the story cutscenes. Featuring over 1000 custom character animations, the drama and humor facing Arcadia is brimming with life. We have added hundreds of additional VFX to flesh out the intricate story of political turmoil and arcane forces. Dynamically scripted music has also been added to cutscenes, perfectly synced with dramatic or humorous story moments to enhance the atmosphere and strong character motifs. Arcadian Atlas takes place across a great variety of environments and locations, including snow-laden fields, busy taverns, weathered bridges, desert encampments, and secluded monasteries (some of which can be seen in the below screenshots).

New Gameplay Trailer
ICYMI: Earlier this month we revealed a brand new gameplay trailer for Arcadian Atlas! Get a better look at the games mechanics, characters, and story (and Poncho!) in our latest sneak preview. We also announced the release window for Arcadian Atlas: Summer 2023! While it's a slight delay, it's allowed our team time to deliver one of the biggest fan requests below! We thank our passionate community for their love, support, and feedback throughout the development process and look forward to sharing even more about the game as we near release. War has begun. To save Arcadia will require perfect strategy, the latest gear, and friends at your side. The time to gather your perfect team is now. The Atlas is about to awaken. [previewyoutube=3GBQEM89Tm0;full][/previewyoutube]
Mouse Control
You've spoken, and we've listened! The Twin Otter team has spent the last two months lovingly crafting FULL MOUSE CONTROL on Arcadian Atlas. Behold the mouse-y goodness throughout cutscenes, the overworld, battles, and while managing all your troops for the first time ever. Mouse is now fully supported (and our new favorite way to play!) across the entire game, so now you can experience the deep tactical battles, riveting story, and lovable characters of Arcadian Atlas from the comfort of your gaming chair!
We're insanely excited as the story cutscenes near completion, with all your favorites like Poncho, Lucretia, Fennic, and of course Vashti getting hundreds of custom animations to bring them to life! Advanced Class Skill implementation is nearly complete, along with some strategically crazy abilities mixing up the battlefield and laying deadly traps. We're nearing the time when Arcadian Atlas is finally in everyone's hands! We can't wait to show off more as we enter July! Stay tuned for more on our socials! Hey there, folks! Welcome to Arcadian Updates, where we share super cool updates for Arcadian Atlas that the Twin Otter team are working on, including new maps, classes, mechanics, and much more! We'll have more to share as time goes on, so follow along and check it out!
Sub-Class Spotlight: The Hunter
Today, we're sharing a very first look into one of the sub-classes of Arcadian Atlas: The Hunter! Master the art of stealth, lay traps on the battlefield, and rain arrows on your enemies! The Hunter sticks to the shadows, preferring Guerilla Tactics over direct conflict. Use Reconnaissance to gain a better vantage of the battlefield before laying any manner of elemental trap on the battlefield. Let loose your arrows to rain death from above with Comet Shot, striking up to three enemies at once. Maximize pain at nerve centers in order to increase Critical Damage, allowing for fatal blows. Equip a bow or crossbow for varying levels of damage and strike fear in the hearts of your opponents from the shadows.
Lundum Hills
Not all is right with the world, and less so in recent memory. Crazed soldiers often return home and speak of ghastly creatures yet unheard of in Arcadia. Beasts of incredible power, the dead rising from their graves, terrible monstrosities in the skies. Dire tales of this land spread on hushed whispers, sowing fear and skepticism among all whose ears they reach. They're too ridiculous to be believed, and yet, curiosity surrounding the mystery of this place enchants brave adventurers and meek souls alike. Lundum Hills has a dark story all its own to tell, and as the rain gently falls on what remains of a grisly battle, Vashti and Desmond will learn that some stories have a grain of truth in them. Sub-Class Spotlight: The Ronin
Today, we're sharing a very first look into one of the sub-classes of Arcadian Atlas: The Ronin! Honor past warriors, channel their rage, and unleash the strength of their spirits upon your enemies!
The Ronin specializes in healing and combat, making it an excellent choice for players that are seeking a well-balanced class. Use the Blade Blossom attack to restore health by calling upon regenerative cherry blossoms to cover the field of battle. Summon malevolent spirits to deal damage from a distance and avoid frontal conflict. Get up close and personal: enter a Battle Trance to focus untold rage and cut down enemies with your katana or magic swords. Become an honorable master of the battlefield as the Ronin.
Putrid Fields
Not all of Arcadia's three countries were blessed with fertile fields. The southern tip of Lethe Island is said to have been stripped bare by dark magics, an ancient site of terraforming arts gone terribly wrong - it now bubbles over with noxious fumes and puddles of poison, filling the air with an acrid scent so powerful the lungs themselves boil. Few survive a trek through Putrid Fields long enough to share the tale, perhaps why Lethe has become a favorite prison for the same dark magics that created it. Hey there, folks! Welcome to Arcadian Updates, where we share super cool updates for Arcadian Atlas that the Twin Otter team are working on, including new maps, classes, mechanics, and much more! We'll have more to share as time goes on, so follow along and check it out!
Sub-Class Spotlight: The Sorcerer
Today, we're sharing a very first look into one of the sub-classes of Arcadian Atlas: The Sorcerer! Expect the unexpected. To be the ruler of true chaos. The Sorcerer is an agent of chaos, taking the practice of magic to dangerous extremes and reveling in the frontlines of war and all the unpredictability that entails. Those specialized in the Wild Magic branch care nothing for their own safety, pulsing with energy so unhinged it withers their foes while risking their own lives. A Sorcerer trained in the Touch of Death branch enjoys seeing the life drain from their enemies up-close, laying on hands infused with such concussive magic it obliterates them and leaves those alive utterly debilitated. This class is perfect for players who like to dabble in chaos. Their ability to touch death and handle wild magic makes them a great choice for those who like to get up close and personal with their foes, or channel their magic from a further distance.
Ryder Lighthouse
On the furthest edge of Tropis, where the rocky crags meet the sea, countless sailors of old met a grisly fate within the fog surrounding Lethe Island - their ships torn to ribbons and dashed against cliff sides along the coast. King Tirgan, very early in his reign, commissioned one of Dantalion's most capable architects to construct Ryder Lighthouse, a modern marvel still actively guiding ships from harbor to horizons over the expansive sea. Perched atop one of Tropis' most unforgiving cliff sides, this lighthouse was never intended to have tactical value amidst the war ravaged continent, and yet Vashti will find herself taking refuge amidst its light in the course of our story. What she'll least expect is the person she'll be hiding from. Twin Otter: Game Website Twitter Discord Serenity Forge: Website Store Page Twitter Facebook Discord

Sub-Class Spotlight: The Shaman
Today, we're sharing a very first look into one of the sub-classes of Arcadian Atlas: The Shaman! Be the bridge between two worlds: darkness and light. The Shaman dabbled too long on the fringes and dark recesses of science, learning to manipulate the powers of life and death sometimes for good, and sometimes to the horror of all who witness. Those versed in the path of the Cosmic Overseer have veered towards the light, calling down powers from above to affect all units regardless of distance on the battlefield, while those of the Darker Paths can sacrifice those they hold most dear to fell mighty foes, or revive entire armiesbut at what cost? Perfect for players who dabble in shades of grey, the Shaman is a powerful class that lets you go deep into your true desires. Their ability to call down power and affect units at a distance is ideal for players who like to be a part of the action, but at a safe distance. Raining down destruction from afar while aiding those close is their true calling.
Town sneak peek
This month, we're showing off the Razed Town! Few are spared by the ravages of war, and when Arcadia is thrown into civil conflict between Lucretia's rag tag army and Dantalion's unrelenting opposition, it's often those with the least means to flee that are caught in the crossfire. Persecution and prejudice are rife in the continent with fears at an all time high against wild magics and people unwilling to commit to a side -it's often easier to raze whole towns than distinguish the difference. Arcadian Updates, January 2022
We promised that we would have some cool stuff to show after the Holidays and we are here to deliver! To start this year off with a bang we will be showing off some new skin options and showcasing a fan favorite class, so lets get this party started!
Class Spotlight: Druid
An embodiment of natures resilience, cunning, and fury, Druids harness the power of nature to create powerful spells. The Druid has become so enmeshed with the natural elements only dreamt of in their Warmancer days that theyre able to create phenomena from nothing. Proficient in Ice, Lightning, and Fire they use these elements to deal damage across the land hitting any enemy unfortunate enough to be in it its path. Druids also have a knack to not only use the elements to create damage but also utilize the earth to create traps. While the Druid uses nature to conjure some of the most powerful spells, they are also concerned with ecological balance and like to live in harmony with the nature around them. They are a protector of the lands and garnish respect for the earth they inhabit. You will often see Druids adorned in their light armor and equipped with two-handed staffs. This class is perfect for players who want to bend the battlefield to their whim, calling forth the earth to trap and decimate their foes.
Skin Tone Update:
We are excited to announce that players can now choose between three skin tone choices for ALL core and advanced classes. This allows for more diversity in the world and characters of Arcadia, a goal we've been eager to share with you all and plan to extend to NPCs, shopkeepers and foes!
We're excited to continue showing off more as we go along, and are truly thankful for our Arcadian Atlas community! We cant wait to show you what we have planned, so stick around!

This train keeps on rolling right along, and what that means for you is more Arcadian Updates! November's got another map and another class to show off with just a sprinkle of what's to come in the story of Arcadian Atlas, so let's get started, yeah?
Sub-Class Spotlight: Inquisitor
Infused with the power of holy light, Inquisitors are blessed with righteous and vindictive strength. Their unparalleled ability to slay the undead is only matched by their affinity for combating magic users, boasting an incredibly strong Magic Defense (MDEF). Additionally, Inquisitors offer boons and augmentations to their allies by serving as a beacon for their Grand Auras. Those that revel in these auras focus their training in the Aura of Light, turning the area around them into a flood of holy energy that helps and hurts as they choose. There are those, though, that channel their conviction through their bodies, following the path of the Holy Reckoning to mete salvation and justice by their own hand. Inquisitors are focused on killing magic users of all kinds, with their MDEF providing a strong shielding effect to them as they wade through spells of all elements. This, however, leaves them vulnerable to physical damage, so be sure to keep melee and archers occupied while they wreak havoc in the backline! If your inquisitor is focused in the Aura of Light, keep them just behind your front line so the defenders can have a strong advantage as they hold the line (and occasionally step in to lay down an offensive aura)!
Map sneak peek:
At the foot of the Boultice Mountains rests the Oldwar Triage, a derelict area of respite and healing now becoming overgrown as nature reclaims the area. While the flora come to return the bloodied remains, so do the fauna, and the creatures of Arcadia have grown monstrous and vicious. As war and strife exhaust your party, will the land reclaim them, as well? Oldwar is a gradual incline, as it sits at the foot of the mountains, but there are steep spaces along the path to position archers and mages, offering your forces an advantage. Make sure your ranged units are safe; open spaces make it easier for melee units to circumvent your front line, and as fragile as they are to physical damage, can be cut down quickly if you're not careful! As we get into the holidays, the crew will be taking some time off from updates! No worries though, we'll be right back at it with more super cool stuff to show you in the new year! Y'all have a wonderful holiday season, we'll see you soon!

Hello again folks, and welcome to the October 2021 Arcadian Update! The team continues to be hard at work building maps, adding classes, and setting up a whole world full of danger and intrigue! If all that sounds good, keep on reading!
Recruitment Center
Coming to Arcadian Atlas is the ability to recruit new party members! In a war-torn land, building your forces is key, and building your party's composition in a smart way can mean the difference between victory and defeat. At the recruitment center, you're able to choose from a pool of recruits to join your party, determine their class, rename them, and even get some special bonuses! Although a pretty and relaxing area, this IS a recruiting ground for fighters from all different walks of life. Fighters? Small space? Nothing could go wrong.
Sub-Class Spotlight: Monk
Devoting their lives to rigorous routine and a pure focus on their training, Monks have abilities that can break through the defenses of even the hardiest of foes as well as reshape the battlefield to their advantage. Those that strike hard and fast are dedicated to the way of the Furious Blows, showing unrelenting aggression as their hits deliver a torrent of damage and various debilitating effects, even unto death. Some monks specialize in the mystical ways of the Arcane Energies, providing a versatile set of skills to enhance their party while striking at their enemies from afar. In a tactical dynamic, Monks are great to have on the frontline alongside other melee classes, as they can gain a quick combat advantage by overwhelming opponents with slow effects and a large amount of damage. At the same time, Monks can also provide a major defensive advantage to other party members close by, establishing zones of protection for your forces and setting up a nigh-impenetrable front to keep enemies engaged!
Map sneak peek
In the mountains of Arcadia, Borneano rests as a city positioned on the slopes. Dotted by buildings and paved with walkways to traverse the map, the change in height provides a number of vantage points to rain down on enemies below. For those at the base level, a literal uphill battle awaits; with agile enough party members, the cliffs can be taken quickly, evening out the playing field! The Twin Otter team's still hard at work developing the winding and arduous story of Arcadian Atlas. We can't wait to show more as time goes on, so stick around as we keep sharing more exciting updates! Until next time!

Indie Arena Booth Demo & Feedback
[previewyoutube=KFVJKK_Suq8;full][/previewyoutube] ICYMI: We were part of the Indie Arena Booth Steam event last month! There, we were able to share the Arcadian Atlas demo to players everywhere for the very first time, as well as a brand new trailer! We were really excited to see literally thousands of you play the demo and show off your tactical skills (while using Poncho, right? RIGHT????) as you squared up against some challenging encounters to overcome! Your feedback has been incredibly helpful in figuring out design decisions the team is working on and considering, including class balancing, battle pacing, overall difficulty, control schemes, and more! We'll be working to implement some of the feedback we've received as we continue working on the game.
Sub-Class Spotlight: Reaver
Today, we're sharing a very first look into one of the sub-classes of Arcadian Atlas: The Reaver! Watch the shadows, because the shadows are watching you. Reavers are known for their sudden and relentless strikes on their enemies, unleashing an unexpected onslaught before stealthily slipping away into a hidden state. Those that follow the path of the Dagger Arts are capable of delivering a flurry of blows using short blades, with each attack inflicting various status effects that cripple their enemies while Hired Assassins favor precision strikes, dealing massive amounts of damage in one fell swoop and even bending the shadows to serve them. For fans of the sneaky-stabby methods, Reavers will be your bread and butter. Their high mobility make them the ideal class for closing distances, locking down a specific target to ensure they go down quickly while being able to evade any retaliation. They're not meant to stick around for a stand-up fight, so apply a lot of damage and effects, then get out fast!
Map sneak peek
More beautiful, luscious environments? Is that even possible? (Yes, yes it is.) This month, we're showing off the Stronghold Outskirts! A seldom-used fortification, the area has fallen into disrepair and dereliction. As nature begins to overtake the ruined stone edifices, what new conflicts will arise on this once-dormant pathway? Where will this path lead, and most importantly, how will you pave the way forward? Arcadia is a land full of conflict, and that conflict is born from a whole host of ambitions and personal desires. We're excited to continue showing off more as we go along, so stick around and find out just how you can build your party to survive the coming conflict! We'll see you next month!

We've got an in-game "Feedback Survey" button included in the main menu, where we highly encourage you to tell us what you like, what you don't like, and what you'd like to see in the game! Your responses really help us work on the direction we take with some design decisions, so we greatly appreciate any feedback provided. Speaking of showing more off, we've got more brand-new announcements to show off tomorrow as a part of IGN's Awesome Indies showcase, so keep an eye out there when that goes live! The land of Arcadia is fractured and perilous, and ambition is the most dangerous foe of all. If you missed out on the Kickstarter update, you can check it out + new stuff being worked on here!

First, we want to start out by apologizing for the long interlude between updates and progress reports. It wasnt for lack of wanting to provide yall with up-to-date info on the project -- And we are extremely excited to share what weve been up to with all of you.
Thanks to our amazing backers, the Kickstarter campaign afforded us the ability to do all we had promised:
- A fulltime year of work on Arcadian Atlas covered for Becca
- Full game OST + sound design fees covered
- Programming fees partially covered
- Physical backer item production fees covered
It was going fine... until about 1.5 years ago, when the team began to take hit after hit, suffering multiple job losses and freelance gig offers drying up. And that was before Covid-19 hit, when the remaining jobs and scant contracts we did have were swallowed up completely. But this is not a sad update. We needed to wait until we had 100% solid news (though we drafted an extremely sad update months back in the thick of the worst of it, but we refused to pull the trigger on it). Now, after so much fighting for AA, we have an update we actually want to write - with news we really want to bring to yall. After many months & multiple pitches to a handful of talented indie game publishers, video calls and Covid-19 related funding hiccups, we are extremely excited to announce we have partnered with a publisher to cover the final stretch of Arcadian Atlas. What does this mean for all yall folks that believed in us and supported us before anyone else? Well...
- The team is now able to develop Arcadian Atlas full time all the way up to release. No day jobs, no contracts, no nothing stealing our focus from the game.
- Additional platform support!
- A publisher-level QA process means an even smoother experience for the final product.
- Localization possibilities so we can bring Arcadian Atlas to a much wider audience across the globe!
- Even more weve got cooking in the backgroundlike more physical goods than you can shake a stick at!
- Most importantlya short production timeline. Kickstarter backers that funded the Early Access Beta Tier? The full game? Get ready, because we have further details to come!
To call it a shot of adrenaline for all of us is an understatement, and weve got our noses to the grindstonepumping out animations, character portraits, the programming underpinning it all, and everything else that breathes life into the world of Arcadiaand we cant wait to share it with you all soon! Some much needed good news in the midst of this topsy-turvy world weve all found ourselves in. In the meantime, let this encourage you to keep fighting for what youre passionate about. Yall keep healthy and socially distant, and please be good to each other. Well be here fleshing out Arcadiafully masked, of course! Sincerely, The Arcadian Atlas Team

Howdy from Texas again, ya'll!
We've got a smorgasbord of new goodies to show off this time around, from new maps, brand-new mapping features that show off the capabilities of the BITE Engine, a new challenger with distant relation to our dearest trash-panda, Poncho, and much more!
Let's dive right in:
A New Challenger Approaches
Seeing as we named our sweet lil' dude below after our favorite western-wear (and because it's a dang cute name), we wanted to flesh out his move-set with that western bravado we all love so much:
And we've been fleshing out Poncho's entire move-set, including making some modifications to his charge and casting cycles with tail swishes:
But there's a classic western song Becca and I love by Willie & Merle, Pancho & Lefty, and we thought, you know... Poncho needs a buddy. Sooooo, without further ado, a new challenger approaches!
Lefty is a Red Panda, and while hailing from a distant and mysterious land, he's come to have a classic western showdown with our pal Poncho. And watch out when he swings that big stick of his, cause bamboo doesn't bend or break easily.
And with all this work on our furry friends, we haven't neglected some of those small touches that give our other characters life, with some custom animations like Fennic's below:
BITE Feature Expansion - Mapping
And with all this work on animations, Patrick's been hard at work expanding the Map Editor Features of BITE, like the new ability to customize key mappings for all the Editor's features. So whether you're more comfortable with the Arrow Keys or WASD, he's got you covered:
And building maps ain't easy, so he's added new brushes from a single-tile, four-tile and fill brush to quickly cover more ground!
But my favorite new feature is the simple Impasse System, which allows you to designate individual tiles that are impassable, leaving the control completely in the creators hands as to how maps are navigated. Plus, it looks beautiful:
We've already gone through and added these impasses to our existing maps, spreading the love as you can see below:
And we've worked up a few new places for you to cause havoc, like these alternate, fighting-enabled interiors:
Oh, and did we mention we're hard at work on a new biome: the desert! That perfect place for Poncho and Lefty to square off in, especially if a tumbleweed blows through:
BITE Feature Expansion - Cutscene Editor
And these improvements from BITE are already filtering into the Cutscene Editor, which Patrick is engineering to include streamlined event re-ordering, actor additions, and a whole slew of visual tweaks that we've got previews of below:
We're excited to show off the practical in-game implications of this next time!
Until Next Time, Yeeeehaaaaw
I guess the desert tiles are bringing out the country in me, but we've only just begun with these and another exciting biome we've got in the works:
Wait, is that snow?! Guess we'll all just have to wait and find out :D. So until next time, holster those six shooters and go play some video games

Welcome back adventurers! We've got some awesome news this go-round for not just backers, but creators, so keep your eyes peeled.
But before we jump in, if you've ever wanted to see the artistry behind Arcadian Atlas live, soon you can! Becca and I have worked to get a Twitch stream set up where you can watch her live-stream art creation, from maptiles, character design, animation work, and more!
Give her a follow and keep your eyes peeled for her first live stream announcement. For more info & polls on things like preferred stream times, check out her twitter page here.
Introducing: The BITE Engine
Way back when we jumped from RPG Maker to the more expansive world of Unity, we had a vision for not just our dream game, but for a creation tool so user-friendly it could be given to anyone who wanted to make a tactical RPG (one of the most notoriously difficult genres to create).
That dream is beginning to become a reality concurrently with the creation of Arcadian Atlas. Patrick has been hard-at-work on the foundation for what we are dubbing the BITE engine enhancement - an add-on that utilizes Odin Inspector's tools to create easily-modifiable units, scenarios, skills, items, weapons, and scenes. The best part: this tool is being developed in conjunction with Atlas, meaning every benefit to the system is a benefit to the game, which includes the following:
More Power to the Game Designer - A large portion of a game designer's life is turning knobs and whistles to balance values and to create the best possible experience for the player. You've all probably played RPGs with horrid difficulty spikes, or gotten bored going hours without a challenge. BITE allows us to easily and quickly implement your feedback when it comes beta time!
BITE Engine's Weapon Editor
Smaller File and Patch Sizes - To get Arcadian Atlas' prototype off the ground, we initially utilized Unity Prefabs. Moving to a new different segmented form of data means we can be much more efficient with the size of the game, as well as any patches we make on Steam (and elsewhere). We know some of you backers have internet data caps, so we want to keep file sizes as user-friendly as possible!
Advanced Cutscenes and Scenarios - We've forged a giant pyramid of stats, classes, status effects, and skills out of the prototype's design work so far. Cutscenes and scenarios (missions) rely on pretty much everything, so being clean and organized with those building blocks allows us to quickly create, reorder, and modify events.
BITE Engine's Core Editor
Plug & Play Capabilities - We've re-structured the logic and data to separate it from the graphics, which is a fancy way of saying Arcadian Atlas and future tactical RPGs using BITE will require far less digging into code-bases to create and play!
Effortless Changes - With BITE's data-driven design, we can remove, add, and change everything from units, status effects, skills, missions, locations, cutscenes (or most anything else) effortlessly midway through development based on new needs and feedback!
BITE Engine's Unit Editor
Iconic
To celebrate BITE, we wanted to show off some of the graphics we're paring with Patrick's data-driven systems.
Menu and Stat Icons
Iconography is an integral part of the user experience, and serves both as localization tool (because images require no translation) and ease of navigation. We love the design challenge of creating icons for our stats, items, text boxes, and menus that are at the same time simple, clean, and communicate efficiently. See below just a handful of those we've cooked up for our items:
Item Icons
Interior Designs & Graphics Galore
And of course behind the scenes we've been hard at work on all the graphics, from animations, items, and some drool-worthy interiors. You'll show yourself outside? Why not show yourself INSIDE you reckless warriors!
This go round Becca has been working up some graphics for house interiors and our Recruitment Centers throughout Arcadia. You can see a few of these below.
Recruiter Maptiles
And if we zoom in a bit you can see some light pouring through new windows, and bench for troops to sit and wait (because isn't a Recruitment Center just a glorified waiting room) , and a fancy desk for processing new troops.
Interior Details
Of course, when you're not waiting, you're training with some quality practice dummies and an assortment of weaponry for our discerning warriors:
Interior Details Cont'd
And when you're ready to lay your sweet head to rest, we've got a deluxe bed you could probably cram a couple of people in (uncomfortably, but this isn't a charity!) and some barrels full of wine to help the long hours seem short.
Oh, and not zoomed in on is that lil' cactus. Because we might be thrifty interior designers, but we're not animals. Get some greenery in there!
Crossbow Animations
We're also putting finishing touches on our primary attack animations, ensuring all eight frames front and back are as smooth as possible. From the heavy crossbow toting Ranger above, to the gargantuan hammer our Apothecary is dragging around below, we're nearly done with all our CORE classes and their various fightin' styles!
Hammer Animations
And of course a whole slew of new items for our re-vamped BITE enabled item editors!
Next Time
We're excited to show off some of the interior maps we're working up with these shiny new graphics, the expanded Skill sections of BITE, and lots more art next time! Be sure to check out Becca's Twitch streams and our twitter pages for up-to-the-moment previews and sneak-peaks!
Until then, keep your controllers warm and your bodies cool as we end out this record-setting summer heat!

Update 12: Anatomy of Animation, Map Efficiency, and More!
Welcome all you wonderful folks to another action-packed episode of Arcadian Atlas! This time around we've got tons of details from all across the game development spectrum. Whether it be animation, portraits, map-tunage, music, or behind-the-scenes on programming - you're in the right place! So dive on in. The waters are warm and cozy!
Anatomy of Animation
Artistically, animation is the most pain-staking process of game development. It's a multilayered art, both literally and figuratively, and we wanted to give you a peak behind that process in more depth as we finalize the animations for our core classes.
Each core class has a list of essential battle animations, arranged in a sheet, that are consistent across classes. What's not consistent across classes? Attacks & Skills.
So when making new animations, we start with real-world examples and build keyframes from them. In the case of the above Apothecary Bottle Throw animation, I used myself as a base and built from it.
New animations typically work in stages: Raw Footage - a video or gif of real-world people performing the action to be animated. Skeleton - the basic shapes of an animation, typically very rough. This is used to ensure the flow of the animation looks correct before detail is added. Naked Base - the naked form all classes can use before hair, clothes, and other details are added. Clothed - usually the final stage where all class-specific content is added to the naked base and added to that core classes' sprite sheet.
So in essence, any new animation we create is actually 3 animations, and from start to finish with the Apothecary Bottle Throw it looks like the example below:
And that's just the specialized animations! We've got a whole slew of basic movements and actions to tackle.
Back to Basics
Ah, the essentials of a fight. We've got our Idling, Walking, Injured, Charging, Jumping, Flying, Landing, Death animations, and the list goes on! And remember, that's for front views, back views, male, and female troops. 48+ unique frames per class, 2 genders, 4 classes - that's 384+ unique frames just for basic animations!
Over the last few months we've been steadily chipping away at them, and we're happy to say we've not only finalized the designs for our male/female Apothecary and male/female Warmancer - but we've even knocked out all of their core animations! Yep, all 384+ of them!
And now we move on to the specialized attacks for each class, one of which Becca's been hard at work on below:
Serving Fierce Face
Let's face it (see what I did there?): little Apothecary and Warmancer sprites are super cute, but sometimes we need to look a person square in the high-detailed eye and give them a good talkin' to.
So Becca and I have been hard at work on portraits to go with our sprites. Because there's nothing sadder than walking into a tavern and the tavern-master won't even look you in the face. That's enough reason to brawl right then and there!
Improvements Abound with Odin
And as pretty as these lil' dudes are walking, slapping, and smashing about - a video game has to be as efficient as possible. Patrick recently upgraded our Unity build with Odin Inspector, a powerful tool that's allowed him to streamline how maps, cutscenes, and menus save data and juggle database information. We've gone from complicated and rather ugly excel files for items to completely in-engine databases with images and separate, easy-to-read and alter fields like this:
But it's not just for databases! Odin has far-reaching implications for space saving, with the potential to reduce both disk and RAM space requirements by upwards of 90%! That's huge for download size and run speed! In fact, we're already applying it to how maps are constructed and saved:
So while we absolutely adore the animations and art side of Arcadian Atlas, this is easily what is making us most happy! Oh, but we forgot that we're even improving how animations are handled in the background ; ). Blend Trees will allow us to better organize all of our isometric animations within Unity so that we can finish hooking it up to our unique characters and classes faster! Possibly 75% faster! NUMBERS! BIG NUMBERS EVERYWHERE!
Tavern Tunes
But wait, there's more! We wanted to serenade you out with the latest tune Moritz is working up for our tavern patrons. Because if there's one thing you want while getting a bit tipsy (or enjoying a nice virgin piña colada perhaps?) it's some jazzy tunes:
Tavern Theme Song
Oh, and why not grab a contract to smash some more things while you're at it?
Speeding Into Summer
That's it for now, but keep your eyes peeled on our twitter page for glimpses of what's coming up in the Arcadian Atlas pipeline as we get closer to beta! Arcadian Atlas Twitter And we'll see all you crazy kids next time with juicy details of skills, fighting' poses, menus, and all the clockwork that makes this beauty tick!

Watch your footing and mind the strategic vantage points as you traverse the richly detailed pixel art world of Arcadia -- A single misstep on the battlefield could cost you a friend’s life. Let the moody jazz soundtrack carry you through a thought provoking & ruthless story of love, deceit, murder, companionship and war. Meant to be a fresh take on the classic strategy RPG style, Arcadian Atlas was designed from the ground up to incorporate more challenging battle strategies, new & balanced job classes, and more cutthroat plot twists that'll leave these complex characters' lives hanging in the balance.
Featuring dynamic job classes, a rich character driven narrative, strategic grid-based battles and a jazz infused soundtrack, Arcadian Atlas is a lushly handcrafted 2D isometric tactical RPG that takes the rich history of the genre and makes it fresh.
Gameplay
The core philosophy behind Arcadian Atlas is simple: Challenging strategic battles with unique classes that make every fight a different experience. That means terrain that affects your movement, cover that can hinder the best laid plans, and skills that are never wasted.
Investment matters, and in a tactical RPG your biggest investment is your character class. So we want them to be purposeful, which is why classes in Arcadian Atlas have several core builds that your characters develop over the course of the game. That means no class hopping, but instead class evolution.
Customize your character at the start with their preferred class build, and when the time comes you can specialize that build through branching evolved classes with entire skill trees all their own.
Ranger - the master of area control, a Ranger’s projectile attacks and crowd control skills revolve around traversal and using terrain to their advantage.
Apothecary - a chemist of extraordinary skill, the Apothecary’s potent brews and experimental arts can heal or wreck devastating damage on the battlefield.
Rogue - sneaky, sneaky; stabby, stabby. The Rogue isn’t interested in manners - why bother when slashing an achilles heel or a surprise attack does the job faster?
Warmancer - adept at brute force and powerful magics, the warmancer specializes in harnessing latent energies for devastating area of affect spells.
And that's just the beginning! Outside those and other core classes, we also have two Advanced Classes for each Base class! At a certain job level, you'll open up two advanced classes to choose from that further specialize your troops!
Start by molding each of your characters with your preferred stats to make that rogue a tiny bit stronger so backstab damage finishes foes off in one swoop, or quicker to get in and out of a conflict in a pinch.
And skills, our favorite part of any tactical RPG. Nothing wasted, everything with a purpose: that's our skill philosophy, so our skill system consists of branching specializations for each class.
Start out with your choice of weapon mastery skills which dictate how you want that class to play. Want your Ranger to master the wider range and faster movement skills of a bow, or the sheer power and crippling attacks from a crossbow? Choose based on your style and watch as new branches open with more powerful and unique abilities to compliment that style.
Arcadia is a sprawling continent divided by immense mountains, with landscapes as varied as the inhabitants. We’re looking forward to bringing those ecosystems into the battle system by creating a breathtaking pixel world that is as treacherous as it is gorgeous.
Thick snowfall, dense forests, rushing rivers, tiered cities - every map affects the way you approach a fight and alters your strategy. Make use of trees to protect yourself from that line of rangers ahead, or place your apothecary opposite an enemy knight with rushing rapids between them while you wear away his armor with acid bottles.
Who Is Twin Otter Studios?
Established in 2015, Twin Otter Studios is an independent game studio helmed by Becca and Taylor Bair, a brother and sister duo based in Texas.
