To our amazing community,

This is Minho Kim from Devespresso Games. It's been a while, and I hope you are all doing well!

Thank you all so much for playing Vambrace: Cold Soul and keeping it on your library. It was a pretty long journey to develop the game as well as update it. I hope you know we care its legacy!

So here are the patch notes:

  • Tutorial Images are updated based on the changed GUI of 1.10.: Some tutorial images have been out-dated and not matched with the updated GUI of 1.10. Now those are fixed.
  • Southern District "DEAD MAN'S ALLEY" Exit Path Bug Fix: Previously, when you pass through some specific route in 'Dead Man's Alley' course, the exit led you to a wrong coordinate. It is fixed.
  • Achievement and Bug Fix: Many people have been suffering with this bug... Now you can get those achievements, if you haven't. After dealing with the traitor, please talk with the NPC who is happy by your choice.
  • City Maps (Dalearch, Dalearch Field, and Haven) Auto Save System Fix: Minor polishing to reduce RAM usage.
    The patch fixes old bugs and glitches, and I hope it makes you happy. Icenaire and Dalearch will remember your adventure. The saga will return with new stories...

This game has been one year in the making and directly follows on the heels of our last title, The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters.     Scarlet Hood and the Wicked Wood is the story of a young woman who finds herself tossed into the magical realm of Glome by a rogue tornado. The evil sorceress has no qualms about destroying any unwary intruders that trespass in The Wicked Wood. While Scarlet may be completely outmatched, she soon learns a recursion hex has her reliving the same day. Can she use her newfound powers and the knowledge gained from her previous lives to outwit LeFaba and lead the troupe to safety?

    Patch 1.10 is live!

    To the amazing community,


    Thanks for your patient and passion, Version 1.10 is now live!

    Like 1.08 [Combat Redeem] patch, this patch represents our careful thought through remained community feedback and implement many changes that will definitely enhance the overall player experience. We have been listening to the awesome perspectives our players who have been played the game in several times, even with the mixed score, and it holds the team that this game has still many attractive aspects to be loved. After The Coma 2 Release, some of devs were able to revisit the game to finally update this patch, and there are issues that are best solved in our hands.

    For details about the biggest changes, please check below.


    [h3]1. Combat: Damage Impact Enhancement [/h3]

    In previous game, the dmg int numbers are shown onto the character portraits above the actual combat situation, without any impact particle, so it was less impactful. In Patch 1.10, there doesn't only have additional particle per each dmg value, but also the dmg int numbers are appeared at the targeted monster, so it would be much more understandable and feel impact from your combat decision. When it comes to the monster's attack, still the int will show onto your character portrait UI on the top left, for your easy circulation.

    [h3]2. Bottom Command GUI is finally flipped[/h3]

    As you already figured out at the previous game screenshot, the GUI if finally flipped! So many gamers complained the positions of the Left/right wing buttons (It's my bad, since I only focused on Keyboard key locations... - Minho), and it has been issued many times. Finally, we figured out how to do - which has to be checked in every sector of the in-game GUIs - and you can play with it with Patch 1.10.

    [h3]3. Minimap Redeemed[/h3]


    This has been also major issued. 'I cannot figure the camera angle of the game!' Minho thought it would be okay with 'tilting your head a bit', but eventually it was his complacency.
    We fixed 'all' minimaps (ranging from Citymaps to final boss stages) onto the right angle for side-scroll view.

    "The map like this is perfect! Thx to make the map like this its more easy to understand now :3 It's really simple, I can understand it its clear!" - Alma (1.10 tester)

    As Alma said, it dramatically reduces your stress while exploring the fields. We hope the changes becomes your better gameplay experiences!

    • One of note pages has been missing, We are sincerely sorry for the gamers who has been seeking it... we fixed it.
    • Dialogue Box is newly decorated.
    • Fast-forward LUI is shown onto the combat situation! It is 'also' usable at the Trap event.
    • Trap event animation speed is raised. 3s -> 2s.
    • So many mimics! Even the team was frustrated, so we reduced their appearing rate.
    • Some map paths where have been confusing players are changed. Some places becomes completely replaced.
    • City map & field maps (Top viewed) now show the location icons even without approaching them. Enjoy to explore the locations.
    • Some map glitches are fixed or replaced whenever we (and testers) found.


    Again, big thanks to our amazing community of players who have played the game. You guys have been speechlessly amazing and your support means the world to us, even this 2020. We hope the new changes motivate you to try out the game again, and enjoy.

    A fun update for gamers who enjoyed the narrative experience of Vambrace: Cold Soul. In 2 hours, we release Patch 0.3.0 of The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters. The final chapter of Minas journey is finally revealed. Now its time for you to finish the fight! Can you survive the peril that awaits? For players who have been searching for answers after the events of The Coma: Cutting Class/Recut, you will not be disappointed.

    The Patch goes live on December 28th:

    USA - 6AM Eastern Standard Time
    GERMANY - 12 PM Central European Time
    RUSSIA - 2 PM Moscow Standard Time
    CHINA - 7 PM China Standard Time

    The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters Official Trailer Debut



    Devespresso Games is proud to announce that THE COMA 2: VICIOUS SISTERS, the long-awaited sequel to its Korean-horror cult classic will make its playable debut as part of the Indie MegaBooth lineup at PAX West 2019.     Version 1.09 is Live!



    Greetings, fellow Adventurers! Team Devespresso here with yet another QOL update for Vambrace: Cold Soul. So, what's new?

    Inventory
    There were a number of inventory related bugs. This patch solves almost all of those issues.

    Fast Forward Traps
    You may now Fast Forward the results of Trap Encounters by holding the Shift Button.

    Item_Move Key
    A new function for moving items has been added to the inventory. Simply click the item and press the Shift key. Click anywhere else and press E to move the item there.

    The Traitor Outcome Item
    An item in your room was supposed to be updated following Chapter 6's conclusion. That has now been fixed.


    Renamed Items & General Text Updates
    We decided to rename the ultimate relic to Voltek Slug. This is due to its unique properties which actually makes it a more valuable item. The new item, on the other hand, has been renamed "Metal Slug." The Ultimate relic's graphic was also updated to reflect these changes. Furthermore, SystemText has been updated along with the stat changes for those relics. Skill names are fixed at the English one as well. Main Text has also been polished.

    Credits
    Norihiko Hibino has been credited for his amazing engineering work on the Vambrace original game soundtrack.

    Hideyuki Sakurai of Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. has also been credited for his work on the game's distribution in Japan.

    Boss Slot Number:
    Some people may have noticed that Septhis's slot number said "II" instead of "III" in the final fight. Well, this wasn't actually a mistake. His portrait was simply blocking one of the numerals. We fixed that.

    Lyric Skin Glitch
    Some of Lyric's costumes, especially the 'Ghost Vigilante Uniform' had some odd animation glitches. Minho made some changes here, with her ankle and skirt so we hope that fixes all the costumes.

    Comrade Campfire Dialogue
    Missing Dialogue was discovered for one of the comrades. This has been restored.

    Several additional dialogue glitches were also fixed.

    Weve been especially encouraged by the passion the community has shown for Vambraces characters, story, and art. We also adore fan art! Thats why were announcing the first official Vambrace art contest. We want to encourage everyone to submit their work for consideration. Dont be shyreally! We love it all! The only basic rule is that the art has to follow basic community post guidelines. It can be anything related to Vambrace.

    From the art we gather, our team will choose two submissions. Another 2 submissions will be chosen by the community through voting.

    The comment points are regardless of content and they cannot be made by the original artist.

    The prize will be your choice between a Steam Key for Vambrace: Cold Soul or Vambrace: Cold Soul Original Game Soundtrack. More information about the soundtrack can be found here. Your prize may also be gifted to a friend.

    Version 1.08 is Live



    Announcement: Please note that with this update your Perk Points will be reset and must be distributed again. Not a real biggie, just consider it a second chance to redo your Lyric.

    To everyone who has waited patiently for the past two weeks, Version 1.08 is now live!

    This patch represents our effort to parse through objective community feedback and implement changes that will definitely enhance the overall player experience. Since launch, we have prioritized listening to the amazing perspectives our players have brought forward. After all, there are some issues that are best solved from exactly that type of input.

    Adjustable Difficulty

    When we started making Vambrace the objective was to create an extremely punishing but fair game. We wanted to balance it in such a way that players had a genuine sigh of relief when they managed to make it through a neighborhood. We received feedback that early versions subjected players to the whims of RNG a little too much. After that, we rebalanced encounters and enemy stats for a friendlier learning curve.

    The good news is that now you can have your cake and eat it too. This version has 2 difficulty levels: Standard & Cold Soul. Standard difficulty represents the patched difficulty that was much easier from what players experienced before and at launch. Cold Soul is the definitive experience with more combat encounters, tougher enemies, and a faster Geistometer.

    New Skills

    ALL characters now come with 3 skills. 2 default skills & 1 randomized skill. This means that the 3rd skill will vary from hire to hire. Maybe you hired a new recruit with a particularly awesome combination of skills. Now youll have to think twice about letting him/her go. It also significantly varies the tactics you can use in combat. You can still craft relics to alter your Ultimate Flourish for even more variety in combat.

    New Flourish System
    With the addition of multiple flourishes, weve also implemented a new point based system for these skills. Characters will have a default of 5 Flourish points to spend. Each Flourish skill has a different Flourish Point cost, so be sure to check that out before you use them. This also adds a new layer of tactics to combat as you weigh what skills to use and how to build points for future attacks.

    New Monster Type System

    Creatures will now come in 7 varieties. Certain skills will have bonuses against these creature types. Their type will be indicated in the icon below their portrait. The basic types are as follows:

    Flesh: Weak against some melee skills.

    Wraith: Weak against some Magick skills.

    Blood: Weak against some Hedge skills.

    Hedge: Weak against some Blood skills.

    Tek: Weak against Grenades and bullets.

    Archonic: Weak against Lyric.

    Shade: No weaknesses.

    New Items

    To accommodate the new skills, weve altered existing Relics and have also added some new ones to the mix. Every character class will have a special relic that enhances their specific skill. This Ultimate Flourish can be upgraded two levels.

    Bugs & Text
    Weve also worked diligently to smash a variety of bugs and correct any text issues we managed to catch as well. Perhaps our favorite minor bug to fix was the inventory cursor issue.

    Cards, Badges, More!



    Hey everyone!

    Its been some time since we last spoke. Were coming hot off of E3 and nearing the conclusion of our tests for the next big update. So, Im dropping by with some news and a few teasers for whats headed your way next week.

    Steam Cards, Badges, & Profile Backgrounds

    Some of you may have already noticed that Vambrace trading cards have just gone live. There are 15 basic cards to collect and a pretty sweet foil Aetherbrace badge waiting to be attained. We hope this enhances your Steam experience. In addition to that

    Big Update Incoming!
    Theres a great deal weve been chomping at the bit to share for 1.08. We wanted to make sure we spent enough time testing things before we made any official announcements. Im excited to say were happy with the current state of these new developments.

    Since the games launch, weve made a huge effort to assess feedback from the community. We prioritize objective ideas that we believe stays true to the spirit of the games original design intents AND enhances player experience. Something weve noted from both positive and negative reviews is that many players would have liked more depth to the combat system.

    Perhaps, what the community will find more surprising is that our early designs had features that were intentionally left on the cutting room floor to maintain a minimalist combat system. We are revisiting some of those features and adding a lot of new content to balance things out.

    Features
    -An enhanced point based flourish system
    -3 default skills per character with enhanced skills from Relics
    -New recruits have a randomized skill
    -10 new relics that can be crafted or haggled from merchants.
    -Monster Types which yield bonuses or penalties in combat
    -Adjustable difficulty levels in the options
    -A new monster, varied formations, and teams
    -Rebalanced stats for enemy encounters
    -Finally, a fix for the dreaded teleporting inventory cursor!

    The result is a more robust combat system that requires a deeper level of tactics. However, it doesnt compromise our original design intents and feels like a natural extension of the game. More details about each to come with the next patch.

    Version 1.07 is Live!



    Hello, friends! Tris here with an all-new update for patch 1.07.

    New Relics!
    All new unique faction relics have been added for Lyric. They can be unlocked by successfully completing Faction quests.

    Fix
    Sitara was difficult to find for some people. So, she is easier to find after the Chapter 6 Boss fight.

    English Script
    Various typo fixes, some monsters have been renamed, and some general polish work has been done.

    Korean Script
    A great deal of polish and changes to the Korean script.

    Industrial District Bug
    Some players reported a bug in which returning to the Industrial District after Chapter 5, passing Thrain and entering combat caused a bug. This has been fixed.

    Isabel Bug
    There was a bug that caused the game to crash in the final fight if you guarded with Isabel. This has been fixed.

    New Shelter
    A new Shelter was added after the Overseer/Thrain encounter.

    Chapter 5 Backdoor
    During the Sack of Dalearch, the Naziri Camp now has a backdoor to allow players to go back to Gerrard and sell their overstocked items.

    Teaser:
    There are some pretty big updates in the pipelineand I mean it when I say this is a pretty big deal. I cant make an official announcement yet with any details because we are still exploring our options for this, but stay tuned for more updates.

    Version 1.06 is Live!



    Version 1.06 is here and with it comes some much-anticipated features and a few fixes.

    New Game +
    The biggest feature this build has to offer is our addition of a New Game +. Access to it will be revealed to those who complete the game. This feature will allow players to complete the game faster in order to unlock missed costumes and new endings.

    Only read the line below if youve already completed the game.

    Pay special attention to the end game epilogue scene for a clue about how to reach New Game +

    Hedge Mage
    After listening to community feedback, we revisited the Hedge Mage and tweaked some of her stats. We believe the new build yields a companion that will be a true asset to your team in the icy wastes. Some of her changes include:

    -Recovery now heals Target ally for Health +2.
    -Her Flourish points charge faster.
    -Healing Light now heals target ally for Health +3, That Ally gains +1 Health per turn for 3 turns.
    -Life Fusion, a relic skill gained from the Amulet of the Matriarch, now heals target ally +4 Health and receives Super Rejuvenation status for +2 Health per turn for 4 turns.

    Bullion Chips
    Combat drops now include Bullion Chips in varieties of copper, silver, and gold. These hold no practical use, but they can be traded with merchant for hellion.



    Haven Closet & Bed
    For those who completed Chapter 5, a closet and bed are now immediately available in Haven so you can rest. You may also rest at the Lost Lady Inn in the ruins of Dalearch.

    Skip Tutorial
    If you are a player who has already cleared the tutorial, this option will appear. Technically, not a new feature but we're letting you know it exists.



    Fast Forward
    A tutorial graphic has been added to show players they can speed up combat with the Shift button.

    Fixes
    -A bug with the Arcasters eye has been fixed.
    -Various lines of broken dialogue, typos, etc. have been fixed.
    -All-Mothers Rosary has been removed from the tutorial.

    Steam Cards
    A full collection of Steam cards are in the process of being approved.

    Outro
    As always, were still discovering stray issues with dialogue, and the odd broken line of text here or there. We appreciate the help of everyone whos been sharing this feedback on the discussion boards.

    One Serving of Replayability, Coming Up!


    Ask, and you shall receive! Well, not always. We are just human after all. Some of us, anyway. The verdict is still out on Minho who may be more machine than man (at the rate he's working). But I digress...

    What could make this game better, you ask? More replayability, you say? You're absolutely right! As such, we're adding our very unique take on a New Game + mode in the upcoming 1.06 Patch. We're sure you're all gonna get a kick out of this. More details to come.

    Also, Steam Cards. Yes, they're coming very soon. Please hang tight!

    But that's not all. We'll also be adding a special new loot drop that will be sure to spice up those combat encounters.

    Version 1.05 is Live!



    Hey all, this is our biggest update yet. Weve added some big changes, so please check below to learn more. We believe, with this update, a real improvement has been made to eliminate whatever "unfair" elements existed in the game and to truly balance the number of combat encounters per neighborhood.

    Shelter
    Vambrace has always been a game about survival. In this new update, youll find Shelters on the overworld paths between Neighborhoods. Shelters provide a safe place for your team to use items and craft with the loot youve picked up. Since your team will be exposed on these open roads, however, youll need to camp inside neighborhoods to replenish Health and Vigor. This means players will no longer be subject to random chance and the success of your expeditions depends on how well prepared you are and how you use your items.

    Recruiting Wall
    The Recruiting Wall now features new signs that indicate the sellsword stats.

    Tutorial Update
    The Tutorial has been updated with information about Shelters.

    Chapter 5 Patch
    Weve rebalanced the dynamics of Chapter 5. Some players reported that, after dying and losing all their comrades, they were unable to progress in this chapter. A merchant was added next to Isabel and new item drops. Youll be able to fight through here with a great challenge, even if you fail on the first attempt.

    All languages have had some adjustments.

    Quest Fix
    You can now save Helga & Mahoram in the Main Quest line.

    Cutscene
    A special cutscene in Chapter 7 with Volrung in the end game has been fixed.

    Version 1.04 is Live!



    Were on a roll with updates and we have this amazing community to thank for it. Due to your constructive feedback, weve been able to implement some real improvements and theres A LOT more in the pipeline. Heres a summary for whats coming in Patch 1.04:

    Journal Tutorial Patch
    The game is chock full of main/sub quests and its very difficult to remember all of these. Weve heard feedback that gamers were unable to find the To-Do List. As such, weve added a tutorial which will reveal itself after Lanvils interrogation.

    Combat Fast-Forward
    Perhaps the most exciting new feature! When you hold the Shift button during Combat, the pace of the encounter will speed up.

    Recruiting Board
    New recruits will populate the board more quickly. Youll never have to worry about a lack of recruits now.

    Equipping Relics
    Relics can now be equipped and unequipped on the field. This is primarily to allow players to dismiss a companion in order to bring on a new field hire.

    Chapter 7 Patch
    Some players reportedly got frozen in place here after entering the 2nd floor. Weve implemented a fix for that!

    Upcoming

    Version 1.05 is already in the works and, as weve mentioned in the previous updates, we are going to be implementing new camp nodes between neighborhoods. Were also updating the recruiting wall so you will be able to see comrade stats before you hire them!

    Were paying particularly close attention to community strategy around party combinations and relics. This will help us gauge balance as we discuss new ideas to implement. Stay tuned and, as always, your feedback is very much appreciated!

    Version 1.03 is Live!



    Hey all, we appreciate your patience today. When we launched Version 1.02 it included steam cloud saving. The good news is that it worked in our test. The bad news is that it temporarily wiped out everyones costumes. This is because the save data for costumes and achievements are handled in a different manner. An oversight on our part and we apologize for the inconvenience.

    With this new update weve adjusted the following:

    -Your costumes have returned your closet where they belong.
    -The difficulty of Chapter 5, 6, & 7 have been slightly adjusted.
    -There has been a fix to the Tantini Quest for anyone who experienced issues when telling Lorelei theyd keep it.
    -After we added the Tutorial menu option, there was an issue with mouse detection on the Escape Menu. That has been fixed.

    Whats next?

    -The next big update will feature Mini-camps between Neighborhoods. After exiting a neighborhood, you will be present with an option to camp where you may use items, change gear, and craft.
    -A fix for bug issue with Chapter 7 where some players are getting stuck.

    The First Update Is Live!



    To our amazing community,

    First off, wed like to thank everyone for the awesome show of support with the games launch. It has been an absolute joy to watch people immerse themselves in the world of Icenaire. The journey of bringing this project to life has been a long, challenging road for our small team of four, but was a total privilege!

    That said, we are taking the communitys feedback seriously. Rest assured, we're working around the clock to assess and implement the adjustments we believe will improve your experiences.

    Here's a short overview of what's in our first update for Version 1.02:


    -Game Tutorial: The Escape Menu will provide access to a Game Tutorial section
    -Speed: Walking speed in the town and dungeons will be increased
    -Terror: The rate at which the Ghost Fog/Terror rises on the field has been slowed, giving players more time to explore
    -Combat Encounters: The number of combat encounters has been decreased in each Neighborhood
    -Text: We've made some minor text adjustments to English and Korean
    -Steam Cloud Saving: We are implementing it after running a few more tests.

    Here's a preview of what's coming in the next update:


    -Cutscene: The ability to skip the opening animated cutscene.
    -Camps: We are adding Basic Camps where you can access your inventory, use healing items, and change equipment at the end of each neighborhood. Campsites, where you can rest to regain vigor and health, will remain exclusive to the streets and must be discovered.

    Sarge's Advice for Exploring the Frozen Wastes!



    Alright, grunts! Looks like weve made it this far. You feel that chill in the air? Yeah, thats the feeling of death creepin ever so slowly toward us. Literally. Weve got a long way to go before we reach our expeditions objectives, so listen up because I have a few golden nuggets of wisdom to impart. Who knows, it might just save your hide!



    So, the basics first. As you greenhorns remember, I visited the Recruiting Wall in the Hunters Camp to hire you. Its always important to make sure you assemble a team that complements your objectives and play style. Second, you want to make sure youre well supplied and equipped for the expedition ahead. If we intend to reach our destination, theres no going back...that is, unless youre okay with losing all your progress.



    Now this parts really important. You can toss in the towel and run back home to momma at any time of your campaign (so long as youre not caught up in something). The good thing about this is that all your surviving allies will come back with you. You also get the keep the loot you gathered while exploring the wastes. The bad news is that you will lose any progress you made toward your end goal. Listen, there aint no shame in making a tactical retreat. If your party falls on the campaign, you lose everyone, everything you gathered, AND all your progress. Sometimes you just gotta know when to call a spade a spade.



    As we move between neighborhoods, well have to make decisions about which paths to take. This is going to affect the layouts of the maps ahead and the frequency of certain encounters. Some neighborhoods have more hostile actors mucking about. Others are full of loot. The benefit of where to go is simply something youll have to learn about each district during your visits.



    Ah, look at that. A clean map and everyones fresh as a daisy. Once youre in a particular neighborhood, your job will be to navigate your team to the exit path. Along the way, were going to be facing a variety of randomized encounters on each street. What? You didnt expect the forces of darkness to just lie down for us, did ya?



    As you can see, traveling from street to street will reveal whats lying in wait for us. It could be loot, hostile enemies, traps, strange encounters, mercenaries for hire, and more.

    Now, this doesnt mean we can just bandy about willy nilly. Exploring streets causes our Vigor to drop by one point. Do you also see that little green bar in the bottom left corner? Thats the Geistometer. It measures the Ghost Fog in the air. That is, it lets us know how close Mad Shades are to our location. When it crosses a certain threshold



    Every path becomes hostile with powerful enemies. Getting to the exit becomes a much more challenging affair. Do you see that indicator in the upper left corner? That shows how close you are to the Boss Dungeon. You get closer by reaching the exit paths. Ultimately, all roads lead there!



    If we survive everything else in our way, we still have to contend with the local Shade. Victory, is how we make sure our little tale progresses. So, you ready to get your hands dirty? Yeah, thats what I thought! Move out!

Weve all lost friends to the King of Shades minions, so I dont need to remind you: We need to be extra careful. In any case, we have our mission objectives and youre our best hope for getting through this thing alive.

    Whats that? Youve never walked the city streets post-curse? Howd I get saddled with a greenhorn like you?! Nevermind that. I dont want any of you knuckleheads getting killed up there. It reflects poorly on me, after all. So, follow these instructions, and maybe well all make it back in one piece.

    First, the basics. For the purpose of this demonstration, well be taking a look at a few key stats.



    Your Health is indicated by the heart icon. It denotes damage you take in combat. Your Vigor is indicated by the flame icon. It denotes your weariness from the expedition. Looks like youre pretty well rested right now. Unfortunately, that wont be the case once were in the middle of our trek. Take damage in combat and this number is gonna drop. Wanna guess what happens when either of these stats hits 0?



    Right! You buy the farm. So, try not to let that happen, okay?



    Your Combat ability is indicated by the crossed swords icon. The higher it is, the more likely you are to hit your enemies and deal more damage. Hmm, a 4, eh? Not so shabby! I guess appearances can be deceiving. There may be some hope for you after all.



    Your Awareness is indicated by the eye icon. The higher it is, the more likely you are to alert and help your party avoid hidden traps. This will also increase your initiative when we begin turn-based combat.



    When combat begins, every character will have access to two skills; your Standard skill and your Flourish. You can use the Standard skill every turn, provided you have something to target.



    Your Flourish is a more powerful or specialized skill. It can be used when you charge your Flourish Meter. You can do that by successfully attacking your enemies or making decisions quickly.

    Hold your horses there, greenhorn. Whats that? Youre already itchin for a fight? Were just getting started! I need to walk you through the turn based combat system first. Its do or die up there and if we lose anyone theyre not coming back.



    When you enter combat, your team members will be indicated in the upper left corner. Your enemies will be displayed in the upper right corner.



    Positioning is EXTREMELY important in this game. From the center, each fighters position will indicated in ascending order from 1-4 (for their respective side). Yellow indicates the players team. Blue indicates the enemy team.



    At the bottom of the screen, youll see this arrow. Remember the Awareness stat I discussed earlier? Your characters initiatives are determined by it. A character is more likely to take action earlier with a higher Awareness.



    When a character reaches the arrow head, its their turn to make a move. You can see the order that characters will be taking action. Make sure to plan accordingly. It helps to study your enemies patterns.



    There are three basic Attack Ranges in this game. Short, Medium, and Long Range. Every recruit brings their own unique strengths to your team and they specialize in very specific weapons.



    Short ranged attacks can only target enemies in the first or second positions. They must also be performed from either the first or second positions.



    Mid-ranged attacks can only target enemies in the first or second positions. They can be performed from any position in the party.



    Finally, long-ranged attacks can be performed from any position and target any enemy. Thats my personal favorite. Haha!



    Since good positioning is key, you can always swap places with other characters - even in the middle of combat! This could be a good idea if somebody in the front has been taking heavy damage and you want to put them in a safer spot.



    You can defend yourself to avoid damage. However, this comes at the expense of Vigor. Remember, if your Vigor drops to 0...well, we can put a fork in ya.



    Targeted enemies are indicated by the red reticule. Try to strategically focus your attacks on enemies based on their turn order or abilities.



    If you dispatch an enemy, your remaining foes will move up in positioning. This also means that they may be targeted if they were previously out of range.



    Now, this part is super important, so dont forget it. You cant access your inventory and start using items in the middle of combat. Now that wouldnt be very realistic, would it? So, remember, you can only heal your characters if you either have someone with a unique ability to do so or manage to find a safe camping spot to unpack.



    As harsh as this sounds, well probably lose some good people up there. It cant really be helped. Luckily, we still have a lot of able-bodied men and women in Dalearch who are committed to the cause. Make sure you visit the Recruiting Board from time to time to assemble your team. Pay special attention to how your unique members skills complement each other in combat and the expedition at large.



    One more thing, if a team member perishes on the battlefield, theyre gone for good. That means youll lose the item that was equipped on them. It will also decrease your partys ability to pack loot. If the main character, Lyric, gets knocked unconscious, the expedition is over. So, as side characters, we gotta make sure she is well cared for.

    Alright, thats all I have to say on this subject. Now, lets see what youre made of, soldier. Move out!

    From Etheria to Icenaire: The World of Vambrace



    Vambrace: Cold Soul is a gothic fantasy set in the world of Ethera. This world is divided into several realms: Edena, home to the cosmopolitan humans and famed for its large metropolitan cities; Sylvia, realm to the matriarchal Sylvani Elves and a region of dense forests; Zumurrud, a vast, arid desert land and home to the Naziri Drows; Asadal, an island country called home by the seafaring Foxier merchants; and Dokkheim, a land in the frigid north that is home to the Dwarves, the worlds unrivaled smiths and tinkers.

    Icenaire was popularly known as the Jewel of Dokkheim. It holds the distinction of being the first Dwarven city built above ground. While the city was once a prosperous trade hub, it has long since fallen to ruin under a mysterious curse. The city has been surrounded by the Frostfell, an impassable wall of ice, ever since this curse took hold. Those who died within the city walls returned as mad or sober wraiths. The citys survivors retreated underground, where they now wage a desperate campaign against the one responsible for this spell, the King of Shades.

    Evelia Lyrics vambrace, an ancient relic known as the Aetherbrace, gives her the unique ability to pass through the Frostfell. Her presence emboldens the resistance fighters since she can lead small strike teams to areas that were previously inaccessible to them. Icenaire is divided into four distinct quarters: the entertainment, residential, industrial, and temple districts.

    The Entertainment District is the located in the northern quadrant of Icenaire. Unlike most Dwarven cities, which are stiflingly rigid and homogenous, Icenaire prospered greatly from its laissez-faire policies and open nature. As the years passed, this burgeoning quarter served to satisfy all manner of vices for the citys diverse populace. Although it is now in complete ruin, not all is lost; the Ghost Bazaar, a vibrant trading hub is open for business. The spooks there are even willing to deal with the living who bring hell money to the table.



    The Residential District is the located in the southern quadrant of Icenaire. The ward once boasted thriving estates and commercial services catering to the needs of its local residents. Slums developed in certain areas of this district as a result of an influx of economic migrants. Dwarves, many of whom were significantly more affluent than their migrant counterparts, tended to live in other quarters of the city. This area was the site of the bloodiest fighting during the Incident and its ruins are a haunting reminder of the carnage that took place.

    The Industrial District is located in the western quadrant of Icenaire. The city was once a technological marvel, far outclassing its contemporaries. The innovations and practical work needed to maintain such advancements took place here. Cutting-edge factories loom large and maintenance golems go about their daily routines unimpeded. Access to most of this area was off limits to average citizens to prevent accidents and safeguard sensitive information. The city's "heart", the great Nibelung Furnace, continues to pump steam throughout Icenaire.

    The Temple District is the located in the eastern quadrant of Icenaire. It caters to the varying religious needs and traditional practices of the city's multi-cultural people. The Dwarves, despite their agnostic background, sought to accommodate the diversifying population's needs by sanctioning religious practice in the district. Their plan succeeded in both satisfying the locals and drawing travelers to their iconic temples. One can now find academic facilities and temples dedicated to all manner of religions.

    As Evelia, you will be leading campaigns through all of these punishing locations and more - each with their own distinct aesthetic, sub-quests, expeditions, loot, and encounters. We hope you will enjoy exploring this frozen city as much as we did creating it!

    This is Devespresso Games!



    Devespresso Games is a small independent development studio based in Seoul, South Korea. Founded in 2015, the team settled on the name due to the fact that they never had a central office location and often do their dev work remotely in various cafs around Seoul. This tradition still holds true today with the team usually assembling for in-person meetings when the occasion calls for it (but, usually when one member happens to be passing through another's hood). From the team's inception, their design priorities have always focused on three conceptual cornerstones: 1.) Hand-illustrated, 2D graphics, 2.) Immersive, narrative-driven gameplay, 3.) Fun.



    The team gets a lot of inspiration from studios, like Vanillaware, that have intentionally chosen to pursue a creative direction based on 2D aesthetics. They believe that the qualities of this art style are timeless, regardless of generation or platform. They also relish in the huge visual impact the art delivers as the game's first impression. The art and animation of games such as The Coma: Cutting Class and Vambrace: Cold Soul were all done by Minho Kim. These assets range from cutscene graphics, in-game level assets, dialogue GUI illustrations, and much more.



    The members also grew up on a steady diet of retro Western and JRPG classics. The team believes it's important that every story provides an immersive experience with interesting characters, plots, and concepts that leave an indelible impression on the player. T.L. Riven, the lead narrative designer, moved to Korea in 2006, where he would later encounter Minho. They began working together in the games media industry, but discovered they shared a passion for creating new worlds and bringing them to life. His journey as a lifelong gamer and working in South Korea as an English instructor would inform the narrative experience of The Coma series and mesh well with the conceptual foundation Minho had created for worlds such as Vambrace.



    Hyunho Kim, Minho's younger brother, is a musician with a knack for making electronic dance music. However, as can be imagined, working on the team's game projects often call for tracks outside his favorite genre. He's collaborated with musicians like Norihiko Hibino, of Metal Gear Solid and Bayonetta fame, and Emi Evans who lent her amazing voice to the Nier: Automata soundtrack. The soundtrack for Vambrace: Cold Soul will be the most epic yet, featuring sweeping orchestral compositions and deeply atmospheric music.



    Minchan Kim, the brothers' cousin, is a programmer with a natural talent for making games. Vambrace: Cold Soul is his very first title, and an amazing accomplishment considering it's his first outing. Minchan began working on the game, part-time, while still finishing up his college degree. He had never used the Unity engine before, but learned its ins and outs within record time (he had 1-2 months to prepare for development). He'd go on to create nearly every one of Vambrace's game modules from scratch. He's also working on the team's newest title, The Coma 2: Vicious Sisters, and focusing on a new, exciting killer AI.



    Vambrace: Cold Soul represents a big departure from the team's first title, The Coma: Cutting Class. This time around, the team is focused on creating an epic story, featuring 25-30+ hours of replayable dungeon crawling, 10 character classes, and multiple endings. According to T.L. Riven, "This really represents the culmination of everything we learned from working on The Coma: Recut. We took those lessons to heart and made everything more expansive, deeper, and content rich. This game is for people who enjoy deep, fantasy stories and lore, punishing roguelite gameplay, and beautiful art. It's a real love letter to the JRPGs we grew up with and newer indie titles like, FTL, that have heavily inspired Vambrace's mechanics."



    Vambrace: Cold Soul will be available on May 28th for Steam on PC, Mac, and Linux.

    To all of you soon to be explorers of Icenaire.

    We know youre anticipating the release of Vambrace: Could Soul and wish to dive into the World of Lyric and her companions as soon as possible. At the same time, we want you to emerge in this adventure to the fullest, without any bugs or issues and everything in order as we had in mind.

    Were proud of the accomplishments the game has already made and the awesome impact it made at PAX and GDC to those who played it!



    So in order to polish the game further and have it shine as much as possible, weve decided to delay Vambrace for one more month to the 28th May!

    The Creation History of Vambrace #2



    "When we sat down and started discussing this world, I was amazed by the volume of art that Minho had already made. He had hundreds of sketches and colored pictures of settings, characters, creatures, and items. It was easy to get a grasp of this place that had, for the most part, only existed in his imagination."



    Tristan began work on a solid story within this setting. The most important features to weave into the new game were the underground city of Dalearch, the frozen city of Icenaire, the Green Flame (the game's primary antagonists), and certain key characters (such as Zaquard).



    He tactfully incorporated these elements into the narrative and then worked with Minho to craft the world's update look. Vambrace: Cold Soul is the culmination of all this effort. Our team takes great pride in the fact that we have chosen to focus on narrative-driven, hand-illustrated games. But one need only look at some of the old art to see what inspired the atmosphere and style of the soon to be released game thanks to Headup and Devespresso Games.

    The Creation History of Vambrace #1



    Vambrace: Cold Soul has been a long time coming. That is, the original concept is nearly 19 years in the making. In his youth, Minho Kim, our lead artist and CEO of Devespresso Games, often worked on the conjured world of Icenaire as a form of escapism. He populated the realm with a variety of interesting characters and dramatic events.

    Most elements were loosely connected, while others found more solid form through discussions in Korean online forums. In there, he shared his art with other high-fantasy enthusiasts. They eagerly contributed to this ever evolving patchwork world. He even illustrated avatars for the most dedicated participants. Through the years, he honed his skill with pen and pencil. And though he would work on many new projects, Icenaire would remain a fond one. He eventually moved into the esoteric realm of game development.





    Tristan Lee Riven our game designer and COO at Devespresso Games recounts the dramatic shift. "I somehow managed to convince Minho to join me in this harebrained attempt to make our own game. That's despite the fact we had no experience or knowledge of how to do so under our belts."

    The two had met in Seoul, South Korea, when Tristan happened to walk by and see Minho working on some drawings. "I invited him for a coffee and we had a discussion about his art and some of my own ideas. Everything clicked right away. We both just enjoyed the creative process of making new worlds together," Tristan recalled. The team eventually managed to figure out the complex logistics of shipping an actual game. After completing their first title, The Coma: Cutting Class, Minho's new priority was returning to the land of Icenaire he had been working on for so long.
