After working for well over an year on it, Doomax has released the first Hedon fan map ever made - Below the Gaudy Goblin!
On her journey to the dwarven fortress of Icepeak, Zan's patch is blocked by an avalanche. The only way around is through the mines near the Gaudy Goblin tavern... and whatever lies below.
Explore a large, visually detailed map, with great atmosphere, many secrets, lovingly made custom sprites and other surprises!

I am honored that my game has inspired such an amazing fan map, and I hope you will enjoy it as much as I did. There are a few other fan maps in the works, so if you want to join us in the Hedon Discord to get updates, click below!

If you are sure you want to perform the update, then remove your game folder from your Steam library and re-download it. Make sure to also delete any hedon-username.ini type files from the game folder after you finish downloading, as they can get carried over by Steam cloud and mess with the update's default options and settings.

To all of those who wanted a way to throw money my way following Bloodrite's release - your pleas have been answered!
You can now upgrade your Hedon to the Extra Thicc edition, which includes not only the soundtrack as high quality mp3, but also a thicc special HUD to help you immerse into that old school RPG atmosphere.
NOTE: The soundtrack can be found as a .zip inside the game installation folder in your Steam directory after you apply the DLC/upgrade (ideally by doing a clean reinstall of the game).

QUAD DAMAGE BUNDLE - https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/15144/Quad_Damage_Bundle/ A short while ago we reached out to a couple of dev-friends that launched well received, gore-filled, fps games. The reason? To discuss the possibility of launching a new bundle. One that would collect all of our games and offer it at the best possible price to all the fans of the genre. Five large email threads, tens of discord messages and some really cool concept art and brainstorming later we arrived at what you see before your eyes: the Quad Damage Bundle featuring the barbaric Elderborn, the half-orcish Hedon, the mysterious Nightmare Reaper and brooding Project Warlock. Each game is a passion project by the creator, or a small handful of creators that managed to pour their heart and soul into lines of blood-sprayed and dismembered code. Do check them out. This bundle is both about the chance to get all of these games at a reasonable price, and to discover titles you might not have been familiar with. So, without further ado: introducing four games to satiate your thirst for brutal, high-quality, no-nonsense fps. Pry the secret of eternal youth from a cursed city as a powerful barbarian in Elderborn. Take control of a pissed off Half-Orc in her quest to repel a cultist invasion in Hedon. Solve the mystery of the nameless heroine in a mental asylum in Nightmare Reaper. Face the minions of hell as a magic-wielding, gun-toting loner in Project Warlock. Elderborn, Hedon, Nightmare Reaper and Project Warlock combine to bring you: - 97 power-ups & skills ! - 101 weapons & spells !! - 107 levels and stages !!! - 120 enemies & bosses !!!! Please remember: you only pay for the games you dont yet own here. Also: for the best deal you might want to buy Quad Damage Bundle between 01.06-08.06!

NOTE: Remember that updating has to be done manually, as it can break your save files. You should skip this update unless you want to start a new playthrough.
ATTENTION! You must manually perform the update. As usual, it comes with a newer version of the GZDoom Engine, as well as tweaks for each and every map, which causes old saves to become incompatible. For this reason, auto-updating is off and must be performed manually, preferably via a clean reinstall.
Also in line with Hedon's other patches, this is aimed at new players and players who want to start fresh runs. If you're in the middle of some progress, you have little reason to perform this update until you're done with your current playthrough.
Alternatively, you can manually select levels and restore your gear. See how HERE.
1.5.0 IS HERE
The update that changes Hedon's starting experience is finally out! Enjoy a whole new short starting area coming with a much more organic introduction to the mechanics and lore of the game, as well as some proper head-on action!
You can find the changelog HERE.
This took a while to make, primarily because it required me to first work on assets that were destined for the second chapter of the game. Second chapter? Yep, it's officially in development, thanks to my amazing Patreon supporters!
That's where I will be posting sneak peeks, closed beta builds and updates from now on, so keep an eye out for it. Also don't forget that I now have a Twitter account, where I will also post news from time to time.
Thanks a lot for playing and for showing interest in Hedon this far! Stay tuned!
NOTE: In order to update Hedon, you will have to perform a clean reinstall of the game. Saved games do not work across different versions (which is why auto-updating is turned off) so keep this in mind before updating. You can restore your progress manually via console commands, read about it here.
A new big update is here, bringing lots of improvements as well as the fresh Bearzerk difficulty - which radically changes Hedon's combat!
On top of this, Trading Cards, Badges, Emoticons and Backgrounds are finally here too!
Here's a quick overview of this update:
- Hedon now runs on a GZDoom 4.1.3 engine fork "hGZDoom" with few quality of life improvements and Hedon-specific setting menus (otherwise it's 99.999% GZDoom);
- New Bearzerk difficulty that removes access to guns and instead gives the player new melee weapons for the ultimate close combat challenge!
- Various map improvements and adjustments, including further optimization for Map10;
- Improved graphics, animations and sounds for all the weapons;
- New Quick Kick attack;
- New blood cloud gore effects and various other enemy improvements and changes.
See the full changelog here.

So what are you waiting for? Update, and get hacking and slashing!
(And remember, you need to do a clean reinstall for it to update properly!)
WARNING: This update is meant for new players or players who want to start a fresh run. It mostly changes Map01 to make it more accessible based on the feedback I've received after this first release week. Remember that updating the game ruins your previous saved games, so think twice before you do it (also, the next big update will contain new stuff to warrant a replay, so wait until then if you've already completed Map01). General changelog & how to update here.
