The main feature of the season is the reworked "Director's Cut" mode. We've completely revamped the level balance and re-evaluated the core fundamentals of Despot's Game in this mode: Units cannot be lost in battlefallen puny humans are resurrected after the fight. The only way to lose is to have your entire team obliterated in a single battle. The fact your punies can't die doesn't mean this mode has become easy, lol. We believe this is the hardest mode in Despot's Game. There's no PvP, and its designed for players who felt the game lacked hardcore PvE content. Additionally, we've rebalanced many mutations and abilities in this mode and aimed to create the ultimate single-player rogue-lite adventure based on the mechanics of our game. Hail Despot! We've also prepared a pretty corporate-looking Google Forms surveywed love to hear your thoughts on the updated "Director's Cut." Please fill it out after playingit will help us make the game better. Share Your Feedback on the "Director's Cut" mode Seasonal Mutation: This season, weve significantly buffed all Tier 3 items. You guys have often mentioned that these items didnt stand out enough from Tier 2 items but were almost as expensive as powerful Tier 4 items. We've tried to increase one or two stats for each Tier 3 item, and we hope this will raise their value.[/quote]
Modes Balance
- Curse of Restraint no longer appears in the Hunger Games mode.
- Curse of Magic now reduces less health: 40% 30%.
- Curse of Might has been buffed: damage 150 200; self-damage chance 7% 5%.
- Enemy damage increase from Curse of Puniness has been reduced: 30 15.
- Curse of Gluttony has been buffed: the damage cap has increased: 150 300.
"Brawl" Balance
- "Health Bonus" in the mutation tree has been buffed at levels two and three: [olist]

- Damage bonus from "Skillful Link" has been increased: 20% 30%
Items Balance
- Elden Charmed Ring (T3 for Mages) now grants +40% attack speed.
- Candle Skull (T3 for Cultists) now grants +25 armor.
- Pitchfork (T3 for Tricksters) now grants +70% attack speed.
- Sanuzzi Fridge (T3 for Tanks) now grants +25 health per level of the human.
- Plague Mask (T3 for Healers) now grants +20 damage per level-up.
- Yoga Pants (T3 for Fighters) now grants +130 damage and +60% attack speed.
- Grav-Gun (T3 for Eggheads) grants +100 damage, and its damage increases by 7 per level of the human.
- Sucker Gun (T3 for Shooters) grants +30% attack speed.
- Hidden Leaf Shuriken (T3 for Throwers) grants +50% attack speed.
- Chainsaw (T3 for Fencers) now deals 140 damage.
Bug Fixes
- The descriptions of sacrificial pits now differ in modes with and without food.
- The tooltip on the shop upgrade button now displays correctly.
- The secret room now appears correctly on the mini-map if the conditions for its opening were met while the map was expanded.

Beat it and unlock a unique ability for Slime 3K: Rise Against Despot[/quote] Just so there's no confusion: Slime 3K (lets call it just Slime from here on) is our Early Access game set in the Despot's universe, and were officially launching version 1.0 on October 31st on Steam and consoles. It's pixel-art, rogue-lite with meta-progression, inspired by games like Vampire Survivors and auto-chess games. It's not really a retro game, but many people think that "pixel art = retro." However, Slime 3k: Demake (we'll just call it Demake) is a separate game (also in the Despot's universe) made in the Game Boy style, both when it comes to the graphics and sound. Its a free title that's playable right now. Why should you play it, you ask. Well, apart from just having some old-school fun, here's why:
If you beat the Demake, you'll get a code for unlocking a secret ability in the main game, Slime 3K!
Now, let's talk about how Demake came to be. When Slime was about to launch in Early Access, one of our artists, Arcade Hero, sketched a Demake concept for fun. We asked the team to come up with anything that might bring new players during the 1.0 launch, and that concept is what we came up with. We posted this on X and pretty much forgot about it. A month later, out of nowhere, our tester, neworderseo, posted a fully playable Demake build (!) based on the art from Arcade Hero. And boy, did it look awesome! We gathered as a team and discussed it, and our decision was clear - lets ship it! The art neworderseo had originally done didnt quite match the quality of the initial concept, and there were gameplay elements to tweak as well. Demake went through three gameplay revamps and ended up having similarities to its big brother Slime but with enough differences to stand out as a smaller, minimalist game thats still fun on its own. It took us nearly a year to complete since it was being worked on only on Fridays and not every Friday! The project was entirely led by two members of our small indie dev team. Regardless of how it does upon release, we're proud of the team's work. Here's the takeaway: if neworderseo hadnt built that prototype in their free time, we wouldnt have ever greenlit the development of Demake during work hours there are always more urgent tasks on the main projects. But once youve got something tangible and a great concept in your hands, it's hard to say no to setting aside some time for it. So, even if you dont have a concrete plan, sometimes you just gotta start doing it and see where it takes you. Or maybe it wont work out, but hey, at least you tried! New Features
The main additions in this season are the "Token of Knowledge" and the ability to sell buttons.
- "Knowledge Token": a new item that can be purchased after defeating the Despot, right before your team heads to King of the Hill. The token allows you to buy experience for the whole team with tokens now you can level up your low-level humans! Just make sure you have enough money.
- Buttons can now be sold. Works the same way as selling items just drag the unwanted button into the bin in the lower left part of the screen and you'll receive a small amount of tokens for it.
Quest Balance
- Rewards in tokens for the Tricksters, Cultists, and Shooters' quests have been increased and are now 50 tokens.
Mutation and Ability Balance
- Mass Taunt cooldown multiplier increased from 5 8
- Delayed Pain duration reduced from 3 sec 2 sec
- Rat-ify duration reduced from 8 sec 4 sec
- Blinding Lightning blindness duration reduced from 4 sec 3 sec
- Death Deferred (T5 Healers ability) duration reduced from 6 sec 3 sec

This season's main changes affect the mutation altar. There will now be fewer altars on the levels, but players will have more rerolls available (5 by default instead of 3). Additionally, for the duration of the season, we've removed More Altars from the mutation tree and the Curse of Mutation. Here's how this affects gameplay: Now, during a single run in Despots Game, players will generally receive fewer mutations, but the selection of mutations will be much broader due to the increased number of rerolls. In this season, we are making significant changes to the mutation tree! The usual build order has changed, and the values of some important mutations have been altered. Seasons last, on average, 3-4 weeks, and when the season ends, these changes are reverted. [quote]"Season of Newbies" has ended! Now Newbies cost as usual again; their price no longer increases in modes with food.
Welcome to Season 29"Season of the Meganewbie".
The Meganewbie is now stronger! Its health and damage have increased, and it has acquired a number of useful abilities:
- Newbie Summoning: Every 10 seconds, the Meganewbie summons smaller newbies!
- Shockwave: Every 6 seconds, the Meganewbie strikes the ground, creating a powerful shockwave;
- Domineering Gaze: There is a 30% chance that the enemy may be stunned when attacked by the Meganewbie.
Game Mode Balances
- The "Normal" mode has been made more challenging: more enemies will now appear in rooms on all floors, and the economy of the mode has become slightly less generous. This change is mainly aimed at new players last year, we significantly simplified "Normal" when we released the "Director's Cut" version. We started receiving more complaints that the game was too easy. The challenge is back!
- In "Slaughterhouse," the healing volume of the Healers class ability has been reduced at all levels: [olist]

- The number of tokens earned in Sprint has been slightly increased to compensate for the removal of Spatial Reasoning.

Changes to the 'Brawl' Mode
We have updated the mutation tree in 'Brawl.' Class mutations now have two levels of upgrades. This means that the first level of such mutations as Vampirism for Fencers or Spiky Armor for Tanks will be weaker than before, but the second level will be stronger. We hope that this change will open up space for more specialized class builds. By the way, just to remind you that we have an official Discord server where we chat with players once a month in a "radio" format and collect feedback. Feel free to join.
Game Modes Balance
We have slightly revised the economic balance in 'Hunger Games' and reduced the number of tokens received at almost all levels. However, now, there are more tokens in all other modes that feature food. The economy in those modes has become somewhat messed up lately, so it's about time we fixed it.

- Boomfish: Cooldown: 10 sec 20 sec;
- Plasma Gun: Base damage: 105 115;
- Bananabomb: Damage multiplier: 0.9 1.2;
- Death Deferred (5 Healers' ability): Duration: 12 sec 8 sec;

New Animations
Some puny humans (wielding some weapons) now have new rare idle animations. They are triggered randomly, the only condition being that humans should not be in combat. Is it just me or is someone living in the tank's fridge?
Mutations Balance
- We've changed how the Curse of Mutation works. You can still pick two mutations at the altar, but changing the assortment of mutators is now a paid feature and costs 5 tokens;
- Some mutations can no longer affect summoned creatures: Rat-ify, Last Word, Final Gift, Soul Gift, Final Aid;
- Mass Taunt has been slightly nerfed: cooldown: 3 sec 4 sec; the duration has been halved, now always half of the regular taunt duration;
- Guardian of the Order buffed: previously, Mages received +15% armor for each Tank in the team, now they receive +30%;
- Thunder Lance has been nerfed: now it deals 50% damage 40% damage from the Mages class ability.

- Death Deferred buffed: duration: 10 sec 12 sec;
- Helicopter Kick's radius slightly increased: 25 35;

In this one, we've added some festive Christmas decor to cheer you all up while you miserably perish in Despot's dungeon. Xoxo. Also, we added new mutations and traditionally tweaked the balance.
New Mutations

Rat-ify: Transforms enemies into... rats. Only Mages can get this mutation. They can transform an enemy into an animal for 5s every 20s for 30 mana, but you need 3 mages to perform a cast. -
Soul Gift: this is a more powerful version of Final Gift; it increases a random ally's health by 1000 when one of your teammates dies.
Reworked Mutations
Some mutations underwent significant overhauls. We compiled this list in collaboration with our community on Discord. Feel free to join us if you'd like to participate in discussions about future updates.
- Thunder Lance there is now a 50% filter for damage
- Magic Mirror chance to silence now, no longer stuns
- Fighters' Link cant kill, it stops working when a unit has 20% of health
- Magical Blood mana blocks damage until it hits 50% of total mana
- Mass Taunt all tanks use it simultaneously and cooldown is shared between all tanks (even if they were stunned or silenced). Cannot be multicasted.
- Curse of Variety items become more pricey, not newbies

- Thunder Lance the chance of casting increased: 5 20

New Enemies in Director's Cut and Updated Starter Teams
We continue to update the Director's Cut mode! Now there are 7 more enemies, and the first couple of floors have become a bit more difficult. And in general, the packs of monsters you can meet in this mode have become more diverse. We won't spoil what exactly has changed, and invite you puny humans to explore the hardest version of d'Spot's dungeon on your own. In addition, we have updated the starter teams. Some of them are stronger and hopefully, there will now be more variety in how you start early. Here's what's changed:
- Cannon Fodder: switched a newbie to Excalibur;
- Sportspeople: added the Paddle Ball guy;
- Cosplay: switched Excalibur to Chainsaw.

Slime is destined to frequently meet its demise at the hands of puny human fists, swords, and chainsaws. More often than not, though, it will be the humans who meet their end! And not only the humans, since Slime's arch-enemy, Despot, has a plethora of creatures under his control. We've decided to shed some light on how Slime's ability system works, which is precisely what you'll use to orchestrate a legit genocide against Despot's abominations.

Episode 2: Abilities

[/quote] Anyway, let's get started. In our previous episode of 'The GOOfy Misadventures', we introduced you to Slime and his basic mechanics. Today, why don't we talk about how Slime kills? When Slime levels up, a Shop pick-up appears nearby. When you collect it, tokens are awarded, which you can use to purchase ability cards (well, um, cards that give you certain abilities.) Don't forget to upgrade the Shop: the higher its level, the cooler and wider the range. Pssst, you can wait for a few levels until the upgrade gets cheaper!
We have dozens of badass abilities in store for you; not to list all of them here, let's mention a few.
- Scytherang (a huge scythe boomerang)
- Slime Minion
- Nuggets of Darkness
- Watermelon Launcher (exploding watermelons)
Be smart when buying. Purchase an ability three times, and you'll level it up to Lvl 2. Collect three identical level 2 abilitiesyou've got a powerful Lvl 3 one. Purchased abilities can be sold for some tokens. Experiment, and don't hesitate to get rid of weaker abilities in favor of stronger ones! Abilities that appear in the Shop are those in your current deck. You can view and edit your decks in the 'Decks' window. It can be accessed from the main menu or the Slime selection screen. Unlocked abilities are displayed at the top, and your decks are at the bottom of the screen. As you acquire new abilities, don't forget to update your deck or create a new oneexperiment!

You know what time it is! It's Slime Time yet again, and our team's here to chat about that green nonchalant dude from our upcoming action roguelite Slime 3K: Rise Against Despot everyone's been excited about. Yes, we're talking about Slime, and today, we want to kick off a series of posts about its misadventures.
The GOOfy Misadventures of Slime
Episode 1: Introduction

[/quote] 'So what the hell is Slime?' you may ask. Well, in technical terms, it's a blob of slime. But not just some blob! Slime is the result of a wild experiment by its former master, Despot. See, it was initially just some goo used for creating artificial humans. But then it came to life! We reckon it might even have a soul now, lol. Anyway, here's the deal: it is on a mission to defeat Despot, break out of his dungeon, and *do random stuff*. Or destroy the planet. Honestly, it's hard to understand what's inside that jelly Slime uses as a brain.
Turns out our master Despot caught wind of Slime's plan and sent legions of genetically engineered creatures after its sticky ass. We guess it's worth mentioning these legions include puny humans, too! Despot can make as many of those meatbags as he wishes, so it's not going to be easy for the gooey fella. But guess what! As seen in the GIF above, Slime's got a trick or two up its sleeve. The green guy's squishy "body" can absorb different weapons, from AK-47s to boomerangs to watermelons . Yeah, watermelons can be downright dangerous when flung at the right angle! Anyway, Slime's power-ups come in the form of cardscards that it unlocks, adds to its own deck, and buys when leveling up. It can assemble up to five decks and switch 'em out.
As an advanced (but still kinda dumb) pile o' goo, Slime can also slurp up pick-ups from the dungeon floor: There's an excavator arm that makes our slimy renegade temporarily invincible, health tanks, a road sign that gives a speed boost, gumball machines that explode turn dozens of living things into bloody pt, and barrels with radioactive waste.
Speaking of the radioactive barrels : they seem to alter Slime's DNA! Collect those to make it more powerful.
Now, all these upgrades and power-ups help our sticky "friend" fight off hordes of disposable minions.
A thousand or two dead humans is pocket money for master Despot, so Slime should expect PLENTY MORE where that came from. But Slime doesn't care: He likes nothing more than random violence! Anyways, folks, we hope you had a blast getting to know our green chaotic bastard.

This is a relatively small update in which we've slightly overhauled the room generation in the Normal and Director's Cut modes, strengthened Healers and Cultists, and rebalanced the overly strong random mutations. Oh, and we also buffed some of the curse mutations in Director's Cut: d'Spot likes to watch his creatures get hurt.

In this update, we adjusted the balance in PvE and Director's Cut (it's harder now) and also made some important balance changes for multiplayer modes.
Changes to Single Player Modes
- d'Spot is now much stronger in Director's Cut mode: he hits harder in his second phase and also has a 50% chance to ignore debuffs. You won't be able to keep him constantly stunned anymore
- Many enemies have had their magic resistance increased: it'll be harder to overwhelm whole groups with AoE damage now!
Mutation and Class Balance
- Thunder Lance proc chance has been reduced: 10% 5%
- Multiplayer damage applied with each ricochet of Rubber Bullets has been increased: 0.3 0.5
- Chance for a unit to damage itself when using Curse of Might has been increased: 5% 10%
- The amount of food eaten by your humans affected by Curse of Gluttony has been increased: 130% 150%

I added some powered-up versions of monsters with new abilities and new room configurations, especially for this mode, plus adjusted the balance. No King of the Hill here. And just you wait: I'll add even more sophisticated forms of torture to Director's Cut mode in future updates.

This is a comparatively small patch. The most important new things are that we reworked Bloodletting for Healers (this is a mutation that turns healing into an attack). Mutations that affect Healers' healing now do damage when combined with Bloodletting. We also increased the EXP received in Sprint, reworked Normal and Hard modes, and made balance changes, of course (something got nerfed)! We have also added a display of your current team's results in the King of the Hill mode. It shows the following stats: [olist]

In this update, we reevaluated the No Food Sprint mode economy and room generation rules (your humans will get more tokens and XP now!), nerfed a few defensive mutations, and made minor balance adjustments to open up more diverse PvP builds. We also widened the pool of mutations available at altars on level 1: now you'll be offered mutations that were previously available starting on level 2. We chose to limit this a while ago to avoid forcing experienced players to restart the game repeatedly, but now we have other mechanisms to promote playing without restarting, so we changed this.

- Maximum puny human cost reduced: 15 10;
- Number of rooms on the last floor increased: 8 10;

Highlights of this update: changes to the room generation rules, changes to the secret mutations (psst, d'Spot doesn't like us talking about his secret room), and balance tweaks.
Level Balance Changes
- In all game modes except Brawl and Sprint, we increased the spread between the minimum and maximum possible numbers of rooms on a floor;
- In the Brawl mode, there are now 3 rooms instead of 4 (on all floors except the first floor). We increased the standard number of rolls at altars and buffed the bonus from Wide Selection in the Mutation Tree: [1, 2, 3, 4] [2, 4, 5, 6];
- In the Sprint mode, you now get slightly fewer tokens, but there are more altars (this affects both modes with and without food);
- Octoboss has gotten a sli-i-i-ight nerf.
Mutation and Ability Balance Changes
- The bonus from Wide Selection has been changed at all levels: [1, 2, 3, 4] [2, 3, 4, 6] (affects all game modes except Brawl);
- Magic Mirror's stun duration has been decreased: 4s 3s;
- The bonus from Speed Magic has been decreased: 15% 10%;
- Human Projectile's cooldown has been reduced: 27s 23s;
- Eggheads' level 5 ability cooldown has been increased: 9s 14s;
- Several cursed mutations have been buffed ("Details are classified!," says d'Spot);
- Tanks' level 4 ability cooldown decreased: 7 s. 6 s; debuff effectiveness has been decreased: 50% 35%.

NEW MODE: Sprint
Sprint is a shortened version of d'Spot's dungeon that lets you reach the online King of the Hill mode faster. Is it easier though? HELL NO IT ISN'T, puny human! To unlock the Sprint mode, you must beat the game at least once. Winning in No Food mode counts, too! We're still experimenting with the food mechanic, so the new mode can be played both with and without food. Just a reminder: in the previous update for Season 10, we added No Food mode for those who just hate going hungry.
NEW MUTATIONS
Medical Vampirism: Healers gain 15% of damage dealt as health;
Acid Bullets: Shooters reduce enemy armor by 5% when attacking. The effect stacks. Duration: 4 sec.;
Magic Mirror: Healers and Shooters have a 30% chance to stun enemies attacking them with magic damage for 4 seconds;
Skillful Link: Shooters affected by Fighters' "Linked" mutation have 20% increased damage;- Speed Magic can now also be acquired on Healers.
Mutation Balance Changes
- Last Word bonus armor reduced: 150 -> 100;
- Reinforcement chance to trigger reduced: 35% -> 25%;
- Defensive Magic buff reduced: 100 -> 75;
- Explosive Attack damage increased for Shooters: 15 -> 20;
- Cult Leader bonus armor reduced: 45 -> 30;
- Human Projectile cooldown increased: 16 sec. -> 27 sec.
General Balance Changes
- Trickster tier 4 class ability bonus buffed: Tricksters now gain +10% damage per attack, and the bonus cap has been increased to 130%;
- Egghead Towers ability cooldowns increased: 9 sec. -> 14 sec.;
- Hard Mode has been adjusted slightly: monster abilities are now stronger, which means you'll need to field a more balanced team, not just a stronger one;
- Enemies that only appeared in rooms with food have been added back into the rotation in No Food mode.
- There can't be more than 3 Thornies in a room now;
- Magic resistance now affects Mantrap's Stuffed Cabbage ability (that ability deals 8% of max HP per second)

New Mode: "No Food"
That's right: in this brand new game mode, your units don't need to eat. But the cost of newbies now depends on how big your squad is: the bigger it gets, the more expensive they'll be. You'll still see Sacrificial Pits, but they'll just be for fun now. The fun will end for you if accidentally click on one, so tell your puny humans to watch their step.
And yes, this mode works with multiplayer King of the Hill. But it's primarily for anyone who gets annoyed with the food mechanic. Give the game a try without it, and we'll see how it goes. We'd love for you to visit our Discord server and share your thoughts on the new mode with us. Or you can just come post memes in the off-topic channel.
Balance changes
- Increased cooldown for "Impulse" of Eggheads' towers (Tier 5 Eggheads class ability): 7 9s;

We recently added a ranking system to Brawl, and now it's time to tweak a few numbers. So we shook the Mutation Tree a little, fixed some puny humans' abilities, and nerfed a couple of random mutations.
UPDATE 1.4.6
Balance Changes
Mutation Tree changes (Brawl):
- Levels 1 and 2 of Wide Selection have had their costs lowered: 10; 15 -> 5; 10;
- Armor Bonus cost lowered: 30 -> 20. This mutation now gives more armor at level 1: 10; 20; 40; 80 -> 20; 40; 80 (there are fewer levels now);
- Health Bonus now gives more health at levels 1 and 2: 40; 100; -> 60; 120;
- Level 1 of Health Multiplier has had its cost lowered: 30 -> 20, and the effect is a little weaker: 50 -> 40. But it's easier to reach Magic Defense Bonus now!
- Added the main game mode's attack speed mutation to Brawl.
- Increased the cooldown of Taunt for Tanks: 20 seconds -> 30 seconds;
- Buffed the effect of Demoralizing Blow (the special ability of tier 4 Tank weapon, Panzer-Poo): 30% -> 50%;
- The Force (the special ability of tier 4 Fencer weapon, Laser Sword): enemy projectiles now should have a higher chance of being deflected: 20% -> 30%;
- The chance for Shock Therapy (the special ability of tier 4 Healer weapon, Defibrillator) to trigger has been increased: 20% -> 30%;
- Build a Turret (the special ability of tier 4 Egghead weapon, Turret) damage increased: 45 -> 65;
- Bonus from Final (uni)Form (the special ability of tier 4 Mage weapon, Sailor Fuku) increased: 50% -> 70%.
- Slightly nerfed Fast Reload in the standard mutations tree: 20; 30; 45; 60 -> 15; 30; 40; 50;
- Summon Zombie now requires more mana: 10 -> 45;
- Final Gift is less generous health bonus reduced (only in Brawl): 200 -> 100;
- Sticky Blood is a little less sticky now: -40% -> -30%;
- Despiritualization now burns less mana: 70 -> 40;
- Radius of No Touching significantly reduced: 56 -> 25;
- Panic in Brawl now only drops starting on floor 9.

Unique Tier 4 Weapon Abilities

Tank: Demoralizing Blow. During an attack, gives a Tank chance to deal damage to a specific area and reduce an enemy's attack;
Fencer: The Force. Gives a Fencer a chance to deflect an enemy's attack. Applies only to ranged attacks;
Trickster: Pain Lover. A Trickster receives a damage bonus each time they take damage (Max.: 100%);
Fighter: Black Swan. If a Fighter's health is at 50% or lower when they receive damage, they summon a Black Swan: a decoy clone of themselves with lesser attack and weaker damage resistance. A maximum of one Black Swan can be summoned during a battle;
Healer: Shock Therapy. When healing teammates, a Healer receives a 20% chance to deal damage equal to the healing value to enemies within the range of the healing target;
Thrower: Fish Slap. Each third time the Throwers' class ability is triggered, poisons enemies with the explosion;
Shooter: Railgun. Each fifth attack deals additional magical damage;
Cultists: Tiny Tentacle. When a tentacle is summoned, spawns an additional tiny tentacle;
Mage: "Final (uni)Form". After several active abilities are triggered in a battle, a Mage takes the "Final Form" and receives stat bonuses;
Egghead: Build A Turret. Places a sentry turret. [/olist]
'Brawl' Mode Leaderboard
As promised, we've added a rating system to 'Brawl.' It has a difference or two from the 'King of the Hill' one, though. Here's how it works:
- Your rating determines the league you are sent to. The league, in turn, determines how many points you gain or lose depending on the number of wins in your run.
- The higher the league, the more PvP wins you need to go up and not down in the rankings.
- If you hadn't finished your run (hadn't spent all three lives) and then started a new game, overwriting your older save, your rating will change: the number of wins from your previous run will be counted. For example, if you had started a 'Brawl' run and then decided to start anew without ever finishing it, you risk losing your rating since a start with zero wins is what's going to be counted.
- Unlike 'King of the Hill', there is no regular change of seasons on the 'Brawl' leaderboard. Perhaps the day will come when we decide to reset the leaderboard and start rewarding leaders. However, there are no plans to do that so far.
Other changes
- Mutation altars now show what mutations are available at the current level;
- Random mutations now can be unlocked by defeating other players' armies in the 'Brawl' mode;
- Items found using the "Newbie's Luck" mutation can now be sold in the store for 12.5% of their cost;
- The "Hypochondria" mutation now gives puny humans a universal dodge ability (a chance to avoid taking damage from enemy attacks/abilities) for the duration of the mutation;
- Changed icons for some statuses that had previously had a generic icon.
Balance changes
- Newbie's Luck: the chance to find an item: 1 -> 3%. Both Tier 1 and Tier 2 items can be found repeatedly;
- Topochlorians: damage bonus at latter levels: 570; 700% -> 550; 650%.

KONFA GAMES'S FUTURE PLANS
We continue improving Despots Game and would like to share some of our plans. This isnt a roadmap or a public offer but a set of tasks that weve already started working on or that weve decided to work on. THINGS WE WILL BE WORKING ON IN THE NEAR FUTURE:
- Run stats and specific battle stats. These are two significant and interrelated UX tasks. They should make it easier to understand the efficiency of different classes and different mutations and make it easier to identify strategic mistakes.
- Abilities for tier 4 items. Were unlikely to bestow unique abilities on all items, but well certainly do it for tier 4 items, similar to the tier 5 ones.
- Fine-tuning the UX of the Challenges DLC. Some features, like searching for the required mutation in the store with infinite reroll, need more work. This fine tuning really needs to be done ASAP.
- New text events. Cause, you know... Why the hell are we not doing more of them?
- New mutations, of course! Yes, we still dont think there are enough mutations, so there will be more.

Tremble before me, humans! I bring you monstrous new mutations. And a Christmas tree.
New MutationsIncluding Community Ones!
In this update, we added the player-created mutations that won the Community Mutation Contest:
Impostor by The real GOW - The Trickster who currently has the most health teleports behind the farthest enemy and disguises themself as an enemy unit. Their first attack deals 100% increased damage.
Newbie's Luck by Knifehunter - When you enter a new room, Newbies have a 20% chance to find 5 food or a 5% chance per Newbie to find a common item.
Faster Than Bullets by spudiiman - Get 15 or 5 tokens at the end of a level if you manage to win all the fights in 40 sec. or 100 sec. accordingly. Mutations will take effect on the next level after you get them. (The name of this mutation was changed; the description was adapted to the game during the implementation process.)
- Tentaclephobia - Summoning tentacles inflicts Fear on a random enemy for 2s;
- Guard - A random Fencer gets +40 damage for each Newbie on your team at the start of a fight;
- Cult Leader - A random Cultist gets +30 armor for each Fighter on your team at the start of a fight;
- Guardian of the Order - A random Mage gets +10% armor for each Tank on your team at the start of a fight;
- Serum of Strength - A random Tank gets +5% attack speed for each Egghead on your team at the start of a fight;
- Thrower Talisman - A random Healer gets +10% magic damage for each Thrower on your team at the start of a fight;
- Healer Talisman - A random Thrower gets +5% magic damage for each Healer on your team at the start of a fight;
- Retaliation - Fighters get +5% attack for each ally with less than 50% health;
- Compensation - units of a random class get +50 armor for each ally with less than 20% health.
Other Changes
- Added a new button that lets you reroll the stock in any \"shop\";
- Changed some values in the \"secret mechanic\". No details here, since it's secret! But these changes will definitely be felt by those competing to be King of the Hill;
- Updated the in-game wiki - you'll now find information on \"buttons\" in there... and a little about the dev team too ;)
- Starting next season, players who place first in their group in King of the Hill will skip a league as they move up (if possible);
- We re-reworked the top-tier Shooter item. Its ability has 8 shots again, but now they only deal 50% damage;
- And finally, we put up holiday decorations! Bye 2022. Be nice to us, 2023!

With this update, we added something SECRET to the game. For now, all you get is a hint: look for this secret on Level 7. We can also tell you that this "secret" can completely change the latter part of your run! Plus, it'll upend the balance of power in the King of the Hill multiplayer mode.

- "Kaled's Assembly" has been reworked. Now every 3rd Shooter can summon a Kaled, but that Kaled is a lot stronger than before;

Currently, we are working on some finishing touches and the game is shaping up to be something we can be really proud of. Hold on puny humans, this is not all. Exciting news: apart from PC and next/older generation consoles, Despots Game 1.0 will be released on mobile devices for iOS and Android as wellon the same day as the rest of the platforms! BRAWL MODE ONLINE CONTEST HAS STARTED!

RULES
- Win the most matches in the Brawl online multiplayer mode. Brawl is accessible from the main menu. Note: beating the first four levels of the singleplayer mode is required to unlock Brawl;
- The total of 6 (six) winners will be determined. 3 players who either have the most victories or have reached the limit of 30 victories first will get their well-deserved rewards. We will also reward 3 random contest participants, so even if you don't get a lot of winsSHARE YOUR RESULT, you will still have a chance to win;

Balance Changes

- Several mutations are now unlocked more easily;
- The "Interest" mutation now earns you a maximum of 40 tokens on one level;
- The "Explosive Death" mutation now deals 90 damage instead of 40;
- Watchers have had their attack reduced, their abilitybuffed;
- Eggheads' towers have had their mana supply significantly increased: 100/150/200 -> 100/400/1000. The amount of mana required for the ability has also changed: 10/10/10 -> 10/20/40. Towers crumble if they run out of mana. It will now be harder to burn towers' mana in PvP;
- For the Hunger Games chip, the altar with one mutation on the first level was replaced by a standard altar with three mutations for you to choose from;
- The info for several mutations in the Brawl mode has been fixed to match how they work in the main mode.

Yeah, it's about time we created an abbreviation for the phrase "puny humans". So yeah, "puny humans" = "PHs" from now on. Anyway, to the big news. Even though according to the Despot you humans don't actually deserve it and never will, we decided to reveal the date of the game exiting Early Access. This is a routine update and routine wrap-up for King of the Hill Season 14. Nothing to see here, except... 11 NEW MUTATIONS. That's right. Anyone who's eager for more news just needs to wait: soon, we'll have bigger, better, enormously huge news. But for now, we're gradually balancing mutations and preparing for the end of Early Access.
New "random" mutations
Purifier - Healers remove negative effects from the target when healing;
Speed Magic - Throwers and Mages get 15% added to attack speed for 20s when using an active ability;
Defensive Magic - Throwers and Mages get 100 added to armor for 3 sec. when using an active ability;
Despiritualization Enemies taunted by tanks lose 70 mana when attacking;
Magic Impulse - Towers apply a bonus to magic damage instead of a bonus to attack. Other effects are unchanged;
The Tankiest - Tanks linked to fighters take all damage from the units in the link;
Dash - Dodges become forward dashes that deal 400 magic damage along the path;
Armor Link - The link increases the max armor of Tanks by 50% for the duration;
Final Gift - On death, increase a random ally's health by 100;
Final Aid - When units of this class die, they increase a random ally's attack by 70. Does not stack;
Mage Gene - Throwers and Mage Gene deal 50 more magic damage. Triggers each tick for abilities over time.
Balance Changes
- We added the Interest mutation to the upgrade tree: at the start of a level, you gain an additional 20% of the tokens you currently have. The mutation is located in the fifth column of the first row. We hope to use this to make the game playthrough more interesting for experienced players. There's motivation to complete the game but spend as little as possible.
- The Hedonism mutation has been removed from the tree and can now drop at the altar from levels 9 to 12;
- We reworked the mutations that drop at initial altar levels. Most importantly, Valor and Sticky Blood no longer drop until level 5. This was done for two reasons: 1) To make sure players who know all the special playthrough strategies don't have a massive advantage over those who don't; 2) To make sure even experienced players have to make a choice and think about team optimization and not just follow the same plan.
- For the same reason, the tentacle is now vulnerable to knock backs (but not knock downs). This shouldn't weaken cultists too much, but it will make completing the first levels with three cultists on your team more difficult. Thank you for your understanding!
- Frugality now has a 75% drop rate on the standard chip! On easy, it's 90%, and at difficult, 25% - it is difficult, after all;
- Text events no longer drop 4th and 5th grade swords. They've been replaced with cheaper versions;
- We slightly weakened damage from the Hail Satan mutation: 370 -> 330;
- The Sale! mutation is now level 3 instead of 4, but the max value is still 50%;
- We added several mutations to Brawl, with the same value as in regular mode.

Balance Changes
- Monster generation has been reworked again: of the enemies you encounter during a run, part will always be the same and part will be randomly pulled from the pool;
- There are now 12 levels instead of 11;
- A quest is now given on level 10;
- To unlock the next column in the mutations tree, you now need to upgrade 4 mutations, not 5 ;

Experiments continue! Take it, puny humans! As you probably noticed, the past season that has just ended was shorter than usual. "Any reason for that?", your puny brain might ask. Well, the reason is that we didn't have enough time to finish the important Mutations Tree change the last time around, okay? And we didn't want this to be delayed. Alright, now read what we added and back to the dungeon, human.
New Enemy
Watcher, a one-eyed brainy creature that shoots at puny humans from range.
Mutations Tree Reworked (Again)
There is now a progress bar that shows your Mutations Tree progression. New mutations are only available if you unlocked a number or required mutations and your progress bar is at a specific point. This change is meant to guide players towards optimal strategies. Oh, and we changed some mutation values too.
Fighters: The "Link" Class Ability Reworked
Now all team units are tied by one general link. These units are no longer split into smaller groups. Re-applying the status on a certain unit extends the duration of the ability rather than applying a new one.
Balance changes
- From now on, you won't encounter all types of enemies in one run. Instead, a selected group of enemies will spawn during a run, resulting in certain types spawning in floor rooms more frequently;
- Abilities of some enemies will have less effect on a fight;
- Changed values of some mutations:
- You Thought: cooldown 15 sec -> 5 sec; mana cost 30 -> 10
- What a Spark!: damage 100 -> 160
- Strike a Light: damage 150 -> 300
- Napalm: damage 150 -> 210

Hello everyone!
We have some news that's not really news. We say it's not really news because it doesn't involve dates, numbers, names, or any of that kind of information that fits nicely into news headlines. But we're still going to try and tell you a little about our plans and what's ahead for Despot's Game in the near future. We're getting ready for the full release, version 1.0. It will happen this year maybe even very soon. We really want to get it out before the Despotism reality is replicated in the real world. Ideally, we want as widespread a release as possible: version 1.0 will come out at the same time as we launch on other platforms. And again, we can't say specifically which ones yet that depends more on our publisher, tinyBuild, than on us. But we can say that we're already working on porting the game. We ourselves are mostly PC games, and Steam will always be home to us, but playing Despot's Game while laying on the couch seems like a great idea too! In connection with these plans, part of Konfa Games's work won't be making it into new updates, and as we get closer to 1.0, this will happen more often. We don't want version 1.0 to be drastically different from the early release version, like with the demo version and Early Access release, but at the same time we're planning to pack enough treats into it that all our current players will want to come see what we prepared for the release. Along with this, we're doing a couple of experiments while the "Early Access" tag allows it. [quote]

You are able to sell items you don't need anymore at half-price from now on.
Unique active class ability animations
Added for the following classes: Tanks, Cultists, Shooters, Eggheads, Mages, Healers. Now each class has its own unique active ability animations. Previously, the default attack animations were used instead.
"Christmas Brawl"
...is now titled simply just "Brawl". We removed all the holiday stuff.
Balance changes
- Hedonism (Mutations Tree) is now cheaper: 50 -> 30 tokens;
- Magic Defense Bonus (Mutations Tree) nerfed: max level is now 80%;
- Sale! (Mutations Tree) changed: discounts decreased, mutation price decreased;
- Levels 2 and 3 of the Armor bonus mutation (Mutations Tree) buffed: 20, 50 -> 30, 60;
- Bloodletting now doubles the Healers' healing and damage;
- The majority of the mutations from the Mutations Tree now don't affect non-human units that join your team: drones, zombies etc.
- Magic resistance from the "Crocodile Head" text event decreased: 15% -> 10%;
- Powerful Pill damage bonus buffed: 20 -> 30
- Healers' items: 1-3 tier items are cheaper, 4-5 tier - more expensive. Health bonus increased

- Swoop for the Beak
Beaks, who team up with Foongi, swoop down at their puny human enemies, unleashing their rock-solid, um, beaks onto pink unsuspecting heads. This attack makes them more dangerous for the backline units.
Balance changes: WE'VE CHANGED OUR MIND!
"The balance experiment from the last update showed that humans were too puny to be experimented on."
At the start of previous Season 6 that has just ended, we made an experimental change: almost all random mutations that used to drop for one class out of several available ones now drop for one particular class. You can find the details here in this announcement. The experiment showed thatWell, basically, you humans mostly hated it. So we are rolling this change back. However, we will move in this direction with some of our new mutations. Which basically means that a lot of mutations are going to be class-exclusive and there will be (actually, already is) a portion of multi-class mutations. Other balance tweaks:
- Delayed Pain is now available for Tricksters only
- Soul Destruction is now available for Tricksters and Fighters only
- Hail Satan! damage nerfed: 450->370
- Sweet Pill to Swallow attack speed bonus buffed: 50%->80%
- Health Link health bonus (Cultists) buffed: 50%->100%

Plans for the next update
There's not enough buttons in the game! Yes, exactly. That's why we're going to add more buttonsthat you're going to be able to press outside of battle! Think of them as some kind of consumables. What will they be for? Healing humans, recruiting new ones, clearing rooms, that kind of stuff. Basically, we are designing this feature to give you an ability to turn an effed up run around. Make a come back, so to say. Providing everything's fine, expect Buttons to be implemented at the start of the next season on March 1st.

Balance changes: WE'RE EXPERIMENTING!
There is no new content this season, deal with it: it's just a small balance update. However, it is notable for its experimentational purposes: we decided to run some tests on you, puny humans. All random mutations that used to drop for one class out of several available ones now drop for one particular class (except for several simple mutations in Christmas Brawl: this mode is not affected by the experiment). For instance, the Last Chance mutation is now available exclusively to Cultists, and Magic Shieldonly to Eggheads. Yes, this affects the game in a significant way, especially in PvP. But keep calm! We're not saying that this change is here to stay: our decision on whether to keep it or remove it will depend on community feedback. So let us know what you think on the forums or on our Discord server. One more important change: if you reroll items or mutations, you can't get ones that were available before the reroll again. We should've done that long ago, we know. Other balance tweaks:

New Mode
I bring you the spirit of Christmas! This year's spirit of Christmas is "More PvP", am I right? Or course I am. We have added a new online game mode called Christmas Brawl. It's not just a mode, it's a whole new minigame, basically:
- To unlock, beat first 4 levels;
- You battle against another player's army every three rooms;
- If you're defeated, you lose a life but your humans are resurrected;
- You only have three lives
- The goal is to stack up ten wins in one run. You can try to win more to beat your record, of course;
- You don't have to navigate the dungeon: all levels are linear;
- There is no food therefore your puny humans are not hungry.

Damage Link: When used, the link deals 150 magic damage to enemies near the target;
Effective Taunt: The Tank class ability lasts 2 sec longer;

Powerful Pill: When healing, Healers grant a bonus of 20 to their target's attack for 10 sec. This bonus stacks;
Right in the Heart: The Tank class ability reduces taunted targets' max health by 25% for the duration;

Gameplay:
- Hunger now decreases not only physical, but magical damage as well. It now also affects summoned creatures;
- More enemies now spawn on level 7, lesson levels 10 and 11;
- Room token rewards on levels 9-11 have been increased
- Foongus has been nerfed! Yes, you begged us to do that and we listened. From now on you won't be running into multiple Foongi in one roomthey will spawn in company with Beaks, one Foongus at a time;
- Puny human thrown in the sacrificial pit will give 4 food instead of 5;
- Purchasing bigger food packs is now a more lucrative offer: a 27 token pack now contains 120 food instead of 110;

Updated Mutations Tree
We have experimented a lot with the mutations tree and came up with this: now all upgradable mutations have levels. We think this will encourage players to invest more tokens in multi-level mutations. Of course you puny humans understand that, for instance, you can upgrade the health upgrade several times, but it still wasn't particularly obvious and intuitive, especially early in the game. Besides that, we added 3 new mutations to the tree: [olist]
Hedonism: one more way to heal your humansusing food;
Energy Vampirism: heals your team by 25% from magic damage dealt by abilities;
Tolerance: a 30% chance to avoid a negative effect. [/olist]

Vengefulness: all humans receive damage bonus after a human dies (All classes);
Kaled's Assembly: an ability to summon a Kaled (Shooters);
Armor Wrecking: enemy armor is reduced on attack;
Soul Destruction: enemy magic resist is reduced on attack;
Stunning beauty : a 20% chance to stun the attacking enemy for 1 second (All classes);
Reinforcement: a chance to receive a bonus to armor on attack;
Impenetrability: an active ability that grants a significant armor bonus for a short period of time (Fencers, Tricksters, Fighters). [/olist]

Miscellaneous yet important:
- Added damage type indicators. Sword iconphysical damage: blocked by armor. Lightning iconmagic damage: blocked by magic resistance. We will soon add this indicator to the mutation names. Until then, you can check damage type in the unit panel;
- Resources are now carried over to the King of the Hill. It means that hunger and resources that depend on mutations are carried over as well.
- All humans now have less base health. That is compensated by the updated mutations tree;
- Nerfed Shooters and Fighters;
- Added a mutation that allows for additional negative effect evasion for Cultists and Eggheads;
- Nerfed some mutations that are rewards for completing text events;
- Newbies base damage is now increased by 10 per level instead of 20;
- The first floor mutation room now offers only multi-class mutations;

- Purification can now remove Silence and all other negative effects. However, it now requires more mana and has longer cooldown;
- Nerfed the Thrill of Battle mutation;
- Nerfed splash, exploding ammunition and bash of the Shooters;

- "Linked" (Fighters' class skill) is no longer cast on dead fighters
- "Panic Eating" should now work beyond the first time it triggered

- Damage over time effects are removed as soon as the last enemy unit is killed
- "Inner Void" now correctly increases the food amount consumed when the team is small

It's time to wrap up the first King of the Hill Season of the Early Access phase!
The season that just ended was a "calibration" one. What the hell does this mean? Let me explain. Overall, 8000 players from 79 groups got into the rating. We will promote the top 3% of the players (3-4 competitors from each group) to the big leagues: the Grandmaster league! Next top 27% of each group are starting the next season in the Amateurs league. The most heated battle went down in the first group. It wasn't intended but that's exactly what happened: the most experienced players who had played the demo ended up there. It was total madness. The meta (a generally agreed upon strategy by the community - Despot's note for puny humans) changed several times during the season. In the beginning were the Mages. But who can remember those guys now? They were made irrelevant by the melee classes with magic resistance. The "Silence" mutation makes a battle against a mage-based team a walk in the park. So what melee class proved to be the strongest one then? At first, players with Fencers on their teams were giving everyone a run for their money. They've got critical damage and you can't ignore that, my friends. Except for you canwith Fighters who can attack from range and have the "Bite" mutation. The next trend of the season were Punisher-wielding, fear-inducing Shooters with penetrating shots. But then, there are a video from Zenusoid: https://youtu.be/yh6_qOcUCvw?t=14438 It turned out that "Cleansing" was removing the effect of the "Delayed pain" mutation the whole f'n season. With it maxed out, you just ignore all incoming damage each second. Can you believe that? On top of that, if you assemble a crew of Fencers and obtain "Sword Dance" that protects them from magic attacks, you get vicious blenders of death who just don't know what taking damage means. Can't beat that, can you? Actually, you can! By using Shooters who silence and wipe those Fencers out before they even have a chance to do anything. That's exactly what got Dranik and his Punisher-wielding army to the top of King of the Hill. You can't beat THAT, can you now? Actually, you can!, thought a player names Zenusoid and did exactly the same thing as Dranik, but also threw some provoking tanks into the mix. You provoke Shooters, Fencers aka Mad Fans of Human Flesh do their spinning thingvoil! You the King of the Hill! Congratulations, Zenusoid!

"It's time to announce the Open Championship winners, aka the least puny of humans! I admit: I enjoyed watching you battle it out for some pathetic-looking hats."
Thank you to everyone who participated in our Open Championship! Our attention was mostly on content creatorsafter all, they are less puny than everyone else. Amido Games was leading the dance early on, and it seemed like no one would be able to knock him out of the first place. Only our old friend ViteC Play was competitive enough to create intrigue. But then drKiray, Mayour41k, TianKami, and Jonathan_tostar joined, the race and things got real. Deep respect to TianKami: the tag with his nickname was used by his viewers 35 times! TianKami and Jonathan_tostar beat the game a total of 85 times! How bananas is that? After the heated battle Jonathan_tostar was able to pick up the victory! He is declared the Winner of the Streamers' Championship! Now, the hater that tries to get away from the Ripper in one of our quests will be named after Jonathan. We'll also add an achievement named after them. Scheduled for after the early access release, most probably.
We decided that all five top-ranked participants should also be rewarded, not only the champ! They will also receive unique physical rewards. Players who won their respective groups will receive branded caps as well as those sweet rewards we kept in secret: a copy of the game, a despotic T-shirt and a giant inflatable pretzel (totally suitable for use as a weapon)! - Increased the mages' lightning cooldown: 3s -> 5s. Damage at level 3: 630->530
- Raised price of quality 3,4,5 swords by 1 token
- Raised bonus HP for healers of 4,5 qualities: +190/250 -> +290/450
- Raised bonus HP for fighters of 3,4,5 qualities: +250/250/500 -> +300/300/700
- Raised bonus HP for cultists (except 1st quality): +200/300/400/500 250/400/550/750
- Nano Lance: price 12 ->10; damage 90 -> 70; health 110 -> 80
- Shooter attack speed aura at level 3,4: +40,50% -> +50,70%
- Final boss: health 20000 -> 25000 Mutations:
- Magic resistance at 4th level: 65% -> 70%

King of the Hill Tournament Information
The first season of the open playtest's King of the Hill tournament lasted one week, with over 1800 players participating, split into 18 groups! Thank you, everyone, for taking part and providing so much invaluable feedback to the team. While wrapping the season up, we decided to create not one but two new leagues.
- Those who achieved the top 5% of finishers in their respective groups will become "Heroes" in the new season: all these humans will be thrown into one group to find out who the real King of the Hill is!
- The following 20% of the top players will be placed in the "Amateurs" league, while the rest will remain among the "Greenhorn" ranks.
- New groups will be created for those who complete the campaign for the first time during a new season.
- Season durations will be posted in advance once Early Access begins.
New update is out:
- BUGS - We fixed many bugs in the middle of the week and immediately (and secretly) updated the game. But we were saving a couple of fixes until the end of the season because they significantly affect the gameplay balance: [olist]
- We have reworked the third and fourth levels of the dungeon. Now there are only two enemy types that spawn randomly instead of three. This means that now in every single run, you will run into your favorite enemy type: the undead (Plague and the zombies).

The 8 season's King of the Hill is bombbua. Besides taking the 1st, he took the positions from 3-6, as well as a lot of other positions: the participants will surely remember his expressive avatar for a long time. However, gadzilla prevented the King from completely dominating the top 5 by being ranked second! Last season's King, Bunsen05, ended up in the 7th position, thus finishing third. [olist]

Tired of waiting for us to reveal the release date? I see. Well, keep waiting. We have other important news to share."
We're preparing a brand new demo version for you. Just like the last time, you will be able to play it by joining the playtest. We'll explain: you request access and we decide whether you're worthy or not. Simple as that. The ongoing 8th season of the current demo will be the last: we will conclude and recap it on August 17 and then launch the playtest. On what date? Can't tell you that quite yet. Stay tuned. The new demo is as long as the current one, but it features a lot of new gameplay mechanics & UI elements we've been working on lately. It's not an early access release: we saved a large part of the content to prevent puny humans from playing Despot's Game for free before the actual launch. We will talk about the differences between the upcoming demo and the full version of the game in detail in our future posts. Rest assured: they will be published more regularly from now on.
Time to update the season!
This time, Bunsen05 beat Peterson, and for reliability he took the first two places. D'Spot respects your efforts, champions! The results of the season are here again! This time Peterson took a resounding revenge and defeated Bunsen05. Moreover, he took 4 top positions in King of the Hill at once. Congratulations! Surprisingly, right behind him, a new winner - "digital_peat" - took the fifth place! And after him our previous champion - Bunsen05. In fact, all the first 27 places are occupied by these 3 guys - this is crazy =D Xumepa and Blootrix are next. This time, Despotism 3k keys can be taken by all five. Just write a private message to ShinShilo via Steam messages. Balance changes this time are aimed at shifting mages and shooters from the top and making King of the Hill battles a little longer: let's see if it worked out. List of changes in version:
- One more level has been added to the "Health bonus" mutation in the skill tree. The percentage bonus is now 40/80/150/300% and the price is 10/15/20/25.
- In the mutation tree, "Mana Burn" now works on Throwers, and "Fury" on Fencers.
- Lancers lifesteal has slightly increased in price: 5/10 -> 10/15
- Enhanced the armor buff/debuff of the Eggheads Emitter.
- Weakened all types of Splash that can be found in the altar. For example, a strong Splash on mages and cultists is now only 30%, not 80%.
- Slightly weakened the "Spiky Armor" that can be found in the altar: 80/110% -> 70/90%
When we asked for somebody to stop Peterson, this was not what we meant! Bunsen05 completed the demo 155 times this season! He took 7 positions in the Top 10, including first! What can we say? Bunsen05, you're awesome. But now we've definitely decided that in the release one player will only be able to take one place in the rankings =D The following players get keys for Despotism 3K: Bunsen05, Peterson and AkCuS List of balance changes for the new season:
- Health bonus of all items has been increased by 30%
- The price for base shooter item has gone up: Harquebus 2->4
- Damage from fighter items has been increased: Rocky's Gloves 20->30, Claws 40->50
- The price for lancer items has been increased: Paddle Ball 12->13, Pitchfork 14->15
- Lightning damage for mages at the second ability level has been lowered: 700->500 for each casting mage
- Octoboss damage reduced: 666->555
- Tentacle lvl 2 has been powered up: movespeed 50->80; health 3666->4666
We're ending the season on 3/31 and extending the next one to 4/30. In other words, we decided not to close the demo on steam in the near future and to update the season every month. Wait for the winners to be announced and small balance changes!
As we wrote in the last newsletter, we are not doing a serious demo update right now because we want to focus on the full version. After all, who would buy the full game version if we gave everything away in the demo? Nobodythat's who!
But we can show you a couple monsters from the full game that will never appear in the demo:
And we'll share our plans with you. Here are the primary goals we've set for ourselves for the near future:
- "Cool Bosses." The Octoboss is definitely not right for this role. This is actually the second minion that appeared in the game about a year ago. So, it's time to create someone cool!
- "Starter Kits." We always planned for the player to start by choosing from set starter kits instead of with 5 newbies and a store. Besides humans, a starter kit also includes starter mutations, but it could include something even crazier. Oldies can compare it to "chips" in Despotism 3k
- "New quests." Everyone already went for the T-Virus. We need new stories!
- "Autoplacement"we're experimenting with it, and it's going well. Whether to use it is up to the playeryou will still have to place certain humans manually, but it will speed things up.
- "NecroLOG"some people asked about adding an option to view which of the player's units died in battle. We're working on it!

Our plans briefly
Currently we are actively developing the game. You might have thought that our public demo is a form of early access, and the final release is around the corner, but there is much work to be done. First of all we want to make Despots Game a really good roguelike with appropriately varied content: enemies, mutations, quests and bosses. There will definitely be some surprises on release, but even we ourselves dont know what special mechanics will be implemented. King of the hill also needs to be reworked. Primarily we want it to be fun for everyone, not only for the top players. In case you waited for a big update for the demo - we are sorry, but not at this time. At the moment we are concentrating on developing the full release, and to put effort into improving this demo means less time for the game itself. Nevertheless, we made some small balance updates to hopefully change the meta, so that we see some different teams at the top.
Balance changes
- Shooter items bonus damage decreased: 25/50/75 ->20/40/55
- Mage items bonus damage decreased: 60/90/120/160 -> 50/70/90/120
- Mutation "SALE!" nerfed: 25/40/55/70% -> 20/30/40/50%
- 3rd level of "Rubber Bullets" mutation is 5 coins more expensive
- 3rd level of "Vampirism" mutations for lancers nerfed: 40% -> 30%
- Health bonus mutations got a 3rd level: 150% for 25 coins
