v1.3 - Tourism Update!

Hello Mayors,

Our team was hard at work and so our biggest and final content update is finally here!

We have;
- New Resource (Tourism)
- Custom Game Mode
- New Buildings
- New Festivals
- New Disasters
- Balance Changes
- Initial Deck Management Improvements
- Star Quest Changes
- Translation Improvement
- A New Ending!
How does Tourism work?
It is our third Bonus Resource after Industry and Education and it usually increases via expensive buildings like Casinos and decreases whenever a disaster happens.

Tourism is mostly about Money management (sell your resources to go above your maximum Money or play action cards that leverage long term effects) and Safety management as you need to keep disasters away to keep your City tour-able!
Office Buildings for Bonus Resources
To improve your chances of managing an extra resource that you've unlocked, now you get an Office Building for that specific resource.

This building creates a random, resource related card, giving you more options than your initial unlocks. Make sure to place them and get your new cards!
Custom Mode is Here
Choose your own parameters and play on your own rules! You can change base rules of the game such as; Red Alert Count, Map Size, Starting Money, Trouble-Meter length...

You won't be gaining Votes on this mode for Meta-Progression (of course) but you can create your own challenges for fun!
More Deck Control
We've heard that you want more control over your Starting Deck.
Now, through Days 4-5-6-7, you'll be able to "choose 1 of 3 cards" from Water - Electricty - Safety - Environment resources, in that order.

We've also added an Action Card to the initial deck that destroys other cards, so you can get rid of even more cards that you no longer use.

With these additions, now in Cardobard Town;
- You get to choose 7 Cards in the first 7 Days of the game
- Have access to consistent Card removal
- Modify your deck further via in-game events

While we know it's not a complete deck-builder feature; Cardboard Town is not primarly a deck-builder but rather a city-building game with cards. So we hope this will satisfy your deck-building feeling needs a little!
Star Quest Reworks
Since now we have three different Bonus Resources, it's time to pick a card!
Instead of giving you a random Resource Quest Card, at the end of 3-Star Quest you get to choose the card yourself.

Also;
- We've removed "have N resources above X" quests from the 4-Star Quest pool. These still exist in lower Stars, but the fourth tier was really taxing so we've swapped it with "Reach 400 Population"

- 5-Star Quest Population Requirement 600 -> 500 to let you help finish the game faster.
Balance Changes
It's not a real patch if we didn't make the game a little easier. Ah, you should've seen the earlier days when no one was able to finish the game... But as we grow more popular, we have to adjust to non-genre people as well and keep challenging aspects in our Game Modes.

- Founders Festival now gives an additional Festival at the end of it, instead of a Disaster.

- All Disasters in the game now last shorter.
- Starting Deck reduced by 2 Cards (-1 House, -1 Clinic)

As our team members are sailing away to new adventures and we feel we've improved the game to a stable and satisfying version, we're not planning any major content updates in the future.

Thank you so much for supporting Cardboard Town for over a year and we hope you've liked all the updates and content we've added to the game over this this period, from new cards to features such as the Leader-board.

Good luck and have fun discovering the new cards!

v1.2.7 - Hotfix for Star Quest Reroll

Hey Mayors,

The recently introduced quest reroll card had a case where it locked the game progress. Sorry it took us long to figure reproduce and figure out the issue.

We fixed this issue on the latest version. Have fun!

Also looking forward to your submissions on the Leaderboards!

v1.2.6 - Leaderboards (and Beta Custom Mode)

Hey Mayors!

We wanted to release some more content while we are working on our "Big Update"! Leaderboards and Custom Mode. Let's get into it.
Leaderboards
We wanted to create some competition between the mayors. May the one with highest number of votes rise to fame in the Leaderboards!

After you finish a run and feel confident, submit your vote score (by using the button on the end screen) to the leaderboard. Every game mode has it's own Leaderboard. Play the mode that you are best at or if you to put your name on each one of them, conquer them all :)
Custom Mode (Beta)
We started developing a mode that allows you to make your own rules! Tweak the values of the game and create your dream Cardboard Town challenge.

For now, it is in beta, and we made it a meta unlock for level 21. Later on we will make it available early on in the game. If you are an experienced Cardboard Town player with high level, give it a try and tell us what you think.

v1.2.5 - New Card is Here & Bug Fixes

Hello there, we're with you with a small but important update!

New card: Wish Upon A Star

This card enables you to reroll your Star Quest.

Sometimes players were unhappy with the quests they received and "didn't want to go that way" and in extreme cases; game could get stuck (E.g; Quest wants you to play 5 Cards in a day but you've got the Going Slow upgrade, limiting your daily cards to 3)

With the Wish Upon A Star card, you can either immediately reroll the first quest that you get or hold on to it strategically.

New Disaster: Communist Strike
Who doesn't love a new disaster, right? R-right?
Anyway, a new disaster is probably better then an old disaster. As Sana have said recently; "Gimme that New New!" so we're giving you the New New.

So what does the disaster do?
Communist Strike: At the start of your day; Discard your most expensive card, draw a new card, lose 1 Money.

It's not very annoying as it has a very high chance to discard a card that you couldn't play yet anyway, but it is annoying as it hurts your long-term plans and costs you money. So we believe it's a balanced disaster for early game.

Fixed Bugs:
- Industrial Furnace was generating the wrong card
- Minor bug behind the Red Alert system
- An Upgrade was causing the Mega-Project cards to be destroyed
- Minor bug in an interaction between an upgrade and a disaster
- Fixed a visual bug related to "Going Slow" upgrade.

Big, Big Update on the way!

"Hey, this update is so small, booo!" you might be saying, please don't :(

Because we are working on a really cool update. We don't want to spoil anything yet, but it includes;
- New resource!
- New End-game
- New buildings
- New cards
- Custom Mode
- and more.

Check out our New games!
Some of our team members are working on new titles. If you like Cardboard Town, you might like these too! So we'd be glad if you check out Stellar Settlers and even more glad if you wish-list it! It's being designed by Cardboard Town's Co-Producer, Burak Tokak.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/2628570/Stellar_Settlers_Space_Base_Builder/

You can also check out Rogue Duck Interactive on Steam , the new video game company of Cardboard Town's co-producer & game designer, Dora zsoy.

Thanks for reading and happy mayoring!

v1.2.0 - Sandbox Mode & Other Mode Updates

Okay, okay, we've heard you! Sandbox mode is here!

You don't want to worry about red alerts, resources, or even just READING THE CARDS and that's... okay i guess.

Go ahead and build whatever you want!
Introducing Sandbox Mode
Build your dream Town made out of Cardboard in this mode without any hassle!
For a short while, we've made Sandbox Mode available for everybody to test it out.

In this mode; you'll be able to draw any road or building card you want and use it without any money or resource requirement!

In the original version it will be unlocked on Mayor Level 16, which does not take long to reach to, especially in standard modes.

Sandbox mode screenshots already started to come in! If you give it a try, share your screenshots with us on Twitter @strateragames
Unlocking New Modes - System Change
In the previous version, this is how the modes were unlocked:
- Mayor Level: 2 Modes
- Rocket Ending: 3 Modes
- Drill Ending: 3 Modes

We've noticed it's too much for casual players, so we've moved most of the "ending" modes to the Mayor Level meta progression instead.

 • Level 4: Blessed Town Unlocked
 • Level 13: Towntanic Unlocked
 • Level 16: Sandox Mode Unlocked
 • Level 20: Cursed Unlocked (as before)
 • Level 29: Rural Town Unlocked
 • Level 41: Democratic Town Unlocked
 • Level 51: Utopia Unlocked (as before)
 • When you finish the game with Rocket Ending: Quick Decisions Unlocked
 • When you finish the game with Drill Ending: Expanding Town Unlocked
Lowering the Vote Count for Max Level
It used to require 23,500 Votes to reach Mayor Level 60, we're reducing this to 20,000.
Please let us know how do you feel about meta progression speed and feel so we can adjust it better!
Other Updates & Changelog
• Synchronized card data across platforms.
 • Implemented save feature in sandbox mode.
 • Unlocked sandbox mode for testing purposes.
 • Modified end-game scenarios for diverse gameplay.
 • Major UI enhancements for improved user experience.

v1.1.0 - Goodbye Troubles, Hello Crisis Cards & POV Mode!

Hello everyone!

You said more control, less RNG, we listened!

Let's start by celebrating the update with a 40% Discount starting November 14th 10 AM PST until the end of the Steam Autumn Sale!

We have a few headlines today so let's get right into the case:

Goodbye, Troubles!

We know how much you hate the troubles (those small disturbances that happen on 3rd turn of the Trouble-Meter) and annoyance it brings.

Troubles were here to;
- Provide challenge to players
- Make sure resetting / reducing the Trouble-Meter had to be done with care
- Add a fun randomness to the game

However, they had too much emphasis for being such a small disturbance.
E.g; You had to look out when you were building a Police Station just to avoid a -1 hit to your Envirorment score, which doesn't feel very nice. Or you'd get a notification every couple of turns, which could be annoying / distracting.

Things like that. But we've kept the mechanic despite all that because of the reasons above, until we've decided that it's just not worth it anymore.

But we still want to keep some positive parts of it, so it's time to say;

Hello, Crisis Cards

Crisis Cards always have negative sides; but they usually also have positive parts too and it's up to you to whether to play them or just ignore them!

For example, the trouble "Yet Another Oil Leak" would make you lose -1 Environment randomly.
The card "Yet Another Oil Leak" still makes you lose -1 Environment but;
- You decide when that happens
- You get a Coin in return.

Crisis Cards can not be destroyed, but they can be discarded. So you can choose to deal with them later, but if you ignore them for too long, they will bloat your deck.

Currently, crisis cards come at every 100th Population but we may change that number, or change to mechanic's trigger point later, according to balance. As always, we're open to ideas and feedback!

PoV Mode

No one asked for this, but it's here!
You can now press ALT key to switch to miniature-view and experience your city first hand!

It will also trigger itself after 5 minutes of inactivity, like your lil' screen saver.

Other Stuff

Controller Support: Cardboard town now has full controller support for Xbox & Steam Deck controllers. (Dualshock is supported but the interface is still in progress for it) This feature still experimental, please share your experiences and ideas in Steam Discussion Forum.

Cloud Save: Now we have cross-platform Steam Cloud Save support, which means, your game save will not be lost even if you remove the local game data, or if you want to keep playing your level on another device.

Linux & Steam OS Support: Cardboard Town now is ported and works stably on Linux and Steam OS devices natively.

Notarized MacOS support (Silicon): Cardboard Town binary on MacOS now works more efficiently and the game binary is notarized via AppStore.

On-going work for Mobile: We keep on working on porting our game for iOS and Android. We will have more information in the coming releases.

v1.0.8 - Quality of Life & Balance Update
Steam Trading Cards & More
Cardboard Town is now eligible for Trading cards!
Keep playing the game to drop Trading Cards! Collect them all to get badges, emojis and profile backgrounds.
Gameplay Updates
Fire-Fighting card was available since the first build, fire itself however... Was problematic and never available in the main version. Well, no more; it's time to burn down the city!!

Try to take care of the fire early on or it might spread. It doesn't destroy buildings; but each active fire has a chance to burn down your resources.
QoL Updates
Now when you hit all Red-Alerts; instead of an instant game-over; you get a final warning and lose the game only if you end the game with all Red-Alerts lit.

When you hover a card, it shows the building tile size, so you can pick which building to place with all the information at your disposal.

We saw that sometimes players try to drag and drop the cards on the board (like Hearthstone) we wanted to allow this behavior, now you can drag and drop a building card on the board and it gets built!
Same goes for action cards, you can just drag and drop them to play!

Sometimes, for any reason, a card might not be playable. Normally; an alert sound plays and if there's a disaster preventing the card from being played, the disaster shakes. However when there's no disaster and you just don't have the money: not enough visual feedback occurs. So now when you try to play a card that you are not able to play: it shakes!

It was unclear when the map size would increase, now we have a counter next to the vote box for the remaining tiles until the board gets enlarged.

We noticed players usually ignore the Star Quests and disasters, to fix that, we also added a star quest progress animation, and for disasters; a noticeable animation.
Bug Fixes
• Fixed problems with some of the building sound effects.
 • Fixed an issue causing the troubles to trigger twice when you progress back and forward on the trouble meter.
 • Level up bar is now faster, depending on the amount of votes you gained in that term.
 • Your current run will not be wiped anymore when you update the game.
 • Fixed the lingering bonuses for buildings demolished by Earthquake or Fire.
 • Mouse controls are more stable, and on trackpads, map won't shake on building placement.
Balance Updates
Almost all Red Cards now have +1 Day limit on their count-downs.

v1.0.7 - Post 1.0 Release Updates 3

As always, thank you for your continuous support, we are also thankful that the reviews about the balance of the game are getting better with our last 2 updates. But we will move things around till it's PERFECT!

We noticed the same issue the community did, that the player agency of the runs is not quite how we want it to be. In order to address this, we made some changes, which will also spice up the early stages of the run, and break the repetitive feel for the early game by creating agency and variety.

- Player now offered 3 cards to choose at the end of Day 1-2-3 (different types) for early game agency
- Game Over condition checks happen at the end of the day instead of instantly
- Scan and Print now will get destroyed after playing
- Smart Solutions now triggers at Max 5 times (was unlimited)
- Fixed some issues with fonts and UI
- Mayor button tutorial triggers at a better time

Don't hesitate to send us a Steam comment on this post or via bug@stratera.co if you would like to share the bugs, issues, or recommendations you have.

v1.0.6 - Post 1.0 release Update 2

Thank you for the amazing support and attention from all the community. We closely follow the community response and made some balance changes & bug fixes.

 • We balanced Classic mode to be more starter friendly with extra resources and Officers, and added a new mode called "Expert" which is more challenging and gives more Votes.
 • Added "Got It" checkbox on every tutorial screen, which will hide that specific tutorial information panel forever when you check it before pressing Okay.
 • We added an animation to make it more clear that -20 resource is a game over condition.
 • Game is now more comfortable to play on a wide screen monitor.
 • Fixes on missing translations.
 • Balances on modes other than Classic.
 • Added resizeable Windowed Mode.

Don't hesitate to send us a Steam comment on this post or via bug@stratera.co if you would like to share the bugs, issues or recommendations you have.

v1.0.5 - Post full release bugfixes

Thank you for the amazing support and attention from all the community. We love your feedback and our first priority on working on this weekend rush was to fix the emerging bugs.

 • Fixed a bug causing the music loop to play the same music during a run
 • Fixed "Tesla Coil" sfx being way too strong.
 • Fixed "Utopia" mode starting resources.
 • Now you can use "Enter" instead of Next Day button.
 • Balanced the level-up requirement for 2-3-4th levels to speed up early game.
 • Fixed an issue in MacOS causing the tooltip to block Next Day button.
 • Fixed an issue causing different resolutions than 1080p to have different UI element sized, like tooltips and main menu mode buttons.
 • Added drag-to-move the map, and balanced the zoom amount for Mac OS.

Don't hesitate to send us a Steam comment on this post or via bug@stratera.co if you would like to share the bugs, issues or recommendations you have.

Cardboard Town 1.0 is here!

Cardboard Town 1.0 is finally here!

Game Modes, Mega-Projects, New systems and more!
We'll update the game and also launch a 30% Release discount starting August 18th - 20:00 UTC+3 Time

Let's look at our new features before talking about the upcoming updates:

Mega Project Buildings

You can finally win the game!
There are currently two different "Final Buildings" that we call Mega Projects; complete the Star Quests in a run, obtain the Mega Project cards, build it and win the game!

Mega Projects are linked to Bonus Resources; Education or Industry.
Final building will depend on which resource you've unlocked. If you have both, then you'll obtain a random Mega Project for the end-game.

As we add more Bonus Resources in the future, you'll have more Mega Projects and more end-game conditions!

And don't worry, you can continue your run and gain your Votes after building the Mega Project!
But wait, what are the...

Star Quests

Do you have a 3 Star City or a 5 Star one?
Depends on your performance on quests!

You'll get your first Star Quests after Day 10.

Hover your mouse over the stars to learn about your next Star Quest. Some will get done as you progress naturally, some will need extra attention and specific actions.

With the Star Quests we aim to:

 • Provide a path for new or confused players
 • Provide bonus challenges and rewards
 • Set a prerequisite for the Mega Project cards

If you have any ideas for a Star Quest, send it our way via Twitter or Discord!

Game Modes

They're finally here!!
After you finish the game, you get to enjoy different modes of Cardboard Town.
They're very new and experimental but some examples;
- A mode where you start with a small map and try to fill it to increase your area.
- A mode where you have a lot of resources and enjoy building your city at your own pace!
- A mode where you get more disasters, only for expert mayors who are looking for a challenge!

We are open to ideas and suggestions for more modes to come, make sure to let us know what you think!

Expanding Board

Need more land?
Whenever your board is almost full, your board will automatically increase by 1 tile. Plan accordingly and ejoy creating huge cities!

New Tutorial System
Our previous tutorial system was a little underwhelming, so we've added GIFs and increased the amount of tutorial windows, so you can learn everything you need to become a great mayor!

Already know everything you need to become a great mayor?
Sure about that?
You can close the tutorials in the Settings screen!

New Buildings and Cards
We don't want to spoil the surprise. Part of the fun in Cardboard Town is exploring all the different buildings, upgrades, action cards and powerful combinations!

For the 1.0 Update; Alongside Mega Project cards, we've added:

 • 5 New Action Cards
 • 4 New Buildings
 • 2 New Quest Buildings
 • 3 New Upgrades
 • 3 New Festivals
 • 4 New Disasters

Future of Cardboard Town

1.0 doesn't mean the end of updates. It means we've reached the "complete experience" we've envisioned but of course we have more ideas and things we want to do, features we want to add.

Some of the "we want to do these" updates:
- New resource & buildings
- Controller Support
- Support for different platforms
- New end-game mega projects
& more!

Industry Update: New Cards are Here!

Welcome to the Industry Update!

We have bunch of new cards and new combos to explore in Cardboard Town with the Level 51 resource: Industry.
TL;DR:
• New Resource: Industry
 • 7 New Industry Buildings
 • 11 New Industry Action Cards
 • 1 New Population Building
 • 4 New Industry Upgrades
 • 3 New Festival
 • 5 New Meta Progression Levels
 • Bigger Map!
 • A furry friend <3

Industry resource unlocks when you build the Furnite Factory quest building.
Industry goes down by 1 at the end of the day, so beware!

Note: Card texts and balance are outdated and might've changed during testing.

But here's a fun way of managing the Industry stat:

 • Build an oil well and get an Oil Barrel
 • Oil Barrels provide industry and electricity when they're destroyed.
 • Build a Gas Station to destroy them all for a resourceful combo!

So obviously, industry cards usually hurt the Environment a lot.
And to make room for more industry, you got to destroy buildings and cards!
Burn them all for money and glory!

Enough of that depressive industry talk, here's a furry friend for you to meet and interact!
She likes to do whatever she wants, so she might not be there every time you play, but keep an eye out for her!
By the way, what should we name her?

Anyways, we now also have jumping cars and bigger maps!
So enjoy the Industry update and we'll be waiting for all of your great feedback and start working on new cards and end-game scenario!

See you in Discord or Twitter maybe?

QoL Updates & Upcoming Features

Hello everyone!

We've updated the game with some frequently requested features.
Here's what's up with today's update:
You can now view your deck and discard pile
No more memory-work! Just click on the deck / discard pile to show it's contents.
Disaster Phasing
Some disasters are just annoying while some of them straight out destroys your town if you are unable to handle them. And in early game; sometimes you just can't as a fresh mayor.

So we've implemented "minimum levels" for disasters. Meaning: Game-ending disasters like Earthquake and Pipe Leak will now occur after City Level 4.

Interested in details? Here's the full list! (Subject to balance)

 • Minimum Level / Disaster

 • 4Disease
 • 1Organized Crime
 • 4Job Crisis
 • 1Drought
 • 5Uncontrolled Migration
 • 1Luxury Embargo
 • 1Short Circuit
 • 1Ran Out Of Asphalt
 • 3Costly Maintenance
 • 3Inflation
 • 1Utterly Ruined Plans
 • 4Trouble Magnet
 • 4Pipe Leak
 • 4Thunder Craze
 • 4Useless Congress
 • 1Bureaucratic Disturbance
 • 1Bureaucratic Failure
 • 4Earthquake
 • 1Cursed
 • 3People's Will
Reward Scrolling
You've just completed your run and gained huge amount of levels, because you're awesome! But wait, because you are TOO awesome, rewards just won't fit into your screen...

Well, we've fixed that! Enjoy your rewards.

Note: We know a lot of players want to know what they've unlocked so far (like, all of it) or what will be unlocked later. We're working on a UI to show that information to you in a later date.
Loading Screen
As the game got more chonky, loading is no loner instantenous. So we've added a cute little loading screen so you won't be required to look at the empty table for a couple of seconds.
Starting Hand balance
We've removed "Change of Plans" from the initial hand pool and added one more "House" instead.

This will prevent most of the early game population issues and newbie players won't doom themselves by playing the Plan B card too early.
Upcoming: New Cards!!
After this QoL changes, we want to focus on adding more content.
We'll be working on Inudstry cards.

Industry will be an additional, objective resource just like Education.

Our plans include;

 • 5 Industry Buildings
 • 10 Industry Action Cards
 • 4 Industry Upgrades
 • 2 Industry Festivals
 • 1 New Basic Action Card: Destroy an existing building
 • 1 New Basic Festival
 • 5 New Meta-Progression Levels

We'll need some time to work on these features and will let you know when we make progress!

Thanks for playing Cardboard Town and all your support!
You can track our progress, give us feedback, or jump into conversation via our linktree.

First Week Update

Hello and thank you all for a wonderful Early Access launch!

Excited to see many of you already hit the 50 Level maximum Meta-Progression Levels. We'll keep adding more levels with more content and buildings in the future.

Friendly reminder: Follow our Twitter or join our Discord to stay on the loop!

We've updated the game 3 times since launch, according to your feedback. All of these updates are live.
What we've done until now:
• Nerfed some of the troubles (3 mark disturbances) to make the early game more chill.
 • Fixed the game-crash instead of game-over bug
 • Fixed errors in JP, KR and ZH (note that translation for these languages are still work in progress)
 • Fixed the "destroy all card in your hand and then crash your game" bug.
 • Added "Score" tooltip to Ballot-box (detailed / translated tooltip will be available in the near future)
 • Added a green border to cards you can play so you can spot them easier!

It's subtle, but hope it helps!
What are we working on:
• Make the Objective (Red) cards less random: We'll make you choose an objective out of a pool, just like in upgrades or festivals.
 • Try to make sure new players won't get stuck on Level 2 because they discarded Population buildings. (Remove "Plan B" from starting hand or add more pop buildings?)
Known Issues:
• Please note that about %5 of translation is still work in progress
 • Some Mac devices not registering clicks correctly
 • Language select UI covering the mouse
 • Meta-Progression Rewards not translated
 • Building auras persist after an earthquake
 • Performance issues on older or fanless Mac devices.

Early Access Launch: April 12

Hello! We're excited to launch Cardboard Town Early Access on the 12th of April.

What we've done since the first demo:

 • Added people & cars to make the city feel more alive and designed the Main Building.

 • Added the Mayor Button: Draw a Card for 4$ to increase the amount of strategic choices.

 • Implemented the Meta Progression system where you unlock more stuff as you level up.

 • Added Education as a Quest-Resource & Education buildings (more resources to follow after launch!)

 • Introuced the Aura System.

We've also upgraded the game's content with:
- More Objective Buildings
- More Upgrades
- More Festivals
- More Disasters

Our plans after Early Access:

 • Update the game based on your feedback on a regular basis.
 • Implement more meta progression levels, resources, buildings and more options for everything else; such as Festivals and Disasters.
 • Implement the End-Game scenario (we have none at the moment)
 • We'll increase Settings options and work towards adding accessebility options.

We plan to stay on early access for 2 to 4 months but we can not make any promises as the game's vision for "full version" might change based on your feedback.

Thank you for reading and for all your support during Cardboard Town's development!

We hope you'll enjoy Cardboard Town Early Access on 12th of April!

New: Adjacency System!

Upon many requests, we're introducing the adjacency system to Cardboard Town. Basically, people want to live near parks and don't want to leave near factories.

Certain buildings will have 1 Tile aura that affects population buildings built on those tiles.

There's Green, Red and Teal auras:

 • Green Aura: Buildings that produce Environment give +%25 Population bonus.
 • Red Aura: Buildings that reduce Environment causes a -%25 Population penalty.
 • Teal Aura: Building a population building near a building that produces Safety causes the Trouble-Meter to reduce by 1.

Auras stack and interact with each other. For example:

 • 2 Parks built near provides double bonus on their crossing square
 • Red and Green auras (Negative and Positive Environement) cancel each other out
 • Teal Aura can stack with both auras, not effecting the other

These auras are only visible when you are in building mode; so don't worry about your cities aesthetics!

We realise this will make the game harder to play but we believe it adds good amount of tactical depth for you to master Cardboard Town!

Also, while %25 Population bonus is a good amount (which might change during testing btw) you can still play the game succeed without paying much attention to it. So it won't bug our casual players too much, we hope.

A City built with the new system, notice that trees are inside the city to maximize population bonus.

We are currently running the tests with our beta testers and not sure if we'll implement this feature to the demo version yet.

We are planning to explain the mechanic further and let you know about our toughts behing it, so make sure you follow our Twitter and if you are interested!

What do you think about the adjacency system, would you like to see the system included in Cardboard Town's full version?

Please share your toughts so we can make this system as enjoyable as we can for you.

Upcoming Features for Cardboard Town

Hello everyone!

First of all; thank you all so much for your interest in our demo and all the feedback!

We've heard your suggestions and are already working on some of them for the full version.
We're aiming to release the full game sometime in April, make sure you wishlist the game and follow us on Twitter to stay in the loop.

Now, let's talk about upcoming features:
People in the city
What's the point of building a city if no one's going to live in it, right?
But who lives in a Cardboard Town?
That's easy: smol, boardgame people!

As your city grows more people will walk (or hop) around the city. We're also increasing the road size to make space for cars! Traffic will not be a part of the management part of game because it sucks and we don't want that. People and cars will be purely for flavor.
The mighty "are you sure" button:
You know what else sucks? Playing a card in an instant, when you didn't mean to do so.
So we're adding a "Play" button as confirmation for all Action Cards.

No more discarding your whole hand by mistake.
We need more roads!
Is what you've said during the demo. While we believe placing roads tactically and some luck factor is an important part of the game, we want to increase your options to obtain more roads.

So we are adding; Road generating mayor button, more action cards and more upgrades that makes you have more roads!

Cheap Asphalt's icon is not ready, Stratera Games logo is a placeholder.

ICYMI: Mayor Button is the (currently red, but actually green) button in the left corner of the screen that makes you draw a card for 4$. You can swap it with different abilities via upgrades.

We've made a poll for the color of the mayor on twitter last week:
20 New upgrades and more syngergies
You think you've seen what this game has to offer? You're wrong!
We are adding some exciting upgrades for the full version of Cardboard Town and some crazy syngeriges!
Working on Meta Progression
At the end of each run, you will gain points according to your building count, objective buildings completed and population. With those points; your Mayor Level will increase and you'll gain benefits.

With higher mayor level, you'll be able to build bigger cities.

Here's our current draft for meta progression, please let us know what you think about the level up system!

Note: this list is work in progress and could change!
Risky cards:
Finally, we're adding some risky upgrades and action cards for daring players which will be available in the full version.

Oh by the way, our other game; Verlet Ascend is being released this week! Make sure to check it out!

That's it from us for today.
We'll share another post for specific release date and final upcoming features of our game.
Thank you for reading and please let us know what you think steamhappy
