Faith in Despair is a roguelike deckbuilder in which you build your own cards.
  • Every card can be equipped with lacrima - triggers, actions and modifiers.
  • There are 100+ lacrima in the game.
  • Place creatures on the lanes before you to block incoming damage.
  • Every turn has auto-battle elements: you attack first, then the enemies.
  • Maps and enemies are random. Boss cards are not.
  • There are three chapters to go through to win.

Faith in Despair is Now Available!

Version 1.0 of Faith in Despair is here!

All of the art for the angels is now in the game (created by Lyfeu). The full version contains all 6 starter decks, the entire journal, features additional music for each of the chapters, and allows you to unlock 30 Steam Achievements.

The soundtrack is available as DLC (as part of the Soundtrack Edition ), and will be on all popular music streaming services soon.

I\'m also happy to announce that Faith in Despair is part of a bundle with the game Novus Orbis. Check it out , if you want even more roguelike deckbuilders made by tiny teams.

Thank you to everyone who has come along for the journey until now.

A content update is planned to be released in Feburary/March.

    Hex-Style Map

    This update changes the map layout from a simple grid of cards to hex-shaped map fragments. You now have more of a goal (to get to the right), and still retain choices along the way.

    Battle Log

    The new battle log will provide answers as to why creatures died or why a run was lost. Full list of changes:

    • Added battle log (new button in upper right corner)
    • Spell costs have been halved, rounded up. I.e. spells with 1 slot cost 1 despair, spells with 5 slots cost 3 despair
    • Improved enemy stack visuals, so it should be a bit clearer whether there are enemies left in the stack (thanks NowOnTest and Baxil)

    • Fixed issues with music (clicking noise, random background noise)
    • Fixed issue where tooltop was left on screen after fight ended (thanks Auri)
    • Improved end screen for decks of sizes between 36 and 45 (thanks VoidSeeker)
    • Fixed issue when picking up lacrima in inventory and then exiting inventory with ESC
    • Fixed issue where you could quickly play spells multiple times, causing cards to disappear from deck like a ghost card, only appearing face down randomly
