I am happy to announce that Patch 0.23 is now available to all players. This patch is one of the biggest: a new civilization, a holiday event, significant player trade expansion, plus new achievements - it has stuff for everyone! Also, before the patch notes, I'd like to address an often asked question. As you probably know, I have started to work on Spaceship Idle, a spiritual successor to this game. However, that doesn't mean I am done with CivIdle, not yet at least. I still have some ideas for content that I'd like to bring to the game. And I have been backporting lots of the design I have for Spaceship Idle to CivIdle (trade diplomacy being one of them). https://store.steampowered.com/app/3454630/Spaceship_Idle/ As I am the only developer and only working on my free time, I have extremely limited resources - and I need to spend it wisely. I plan to make a playable build of Spaceship Idle soon-ish, therefore, Patch 0.24 will take longer than usual, most likely after the alpha test of Spaceship Idle. The alpha test of Spaceship Idle will be announced in our Discord Server and will first open for experienced players of CivIdle and Industry Idle. If you are interested, hop onto our server and watch for the announcement. And if alpha test is not for you, you can always wishlist it on Steam to get notified when the game is available.
Patch 0.23 has now landed on beta. This patch contains lots of changes so beta will run slightly longer. Please report bugs on Discord
Path 0.21 is now available on Steam "beta" branch, here's the patch notes draft. Please note the patch will change during beta so follow here to read the most up to date patch notes. Also join our Discord server to provide your feedback.
First of all, it's time to nominate Steam Awards. If you enjoy the game, you can help by nominating "Sit Back and Relax Award". This patch brings holiday special content and adds support for the remaining account ranks. I wish everyone a happy holiday.
First of all, in this patch, "city" is renamed "civilization" and all existing cities are renamed to its corresponding civilizations (Memphis -> Egyptian). Apart from the wording change, everything else should still work as is. And we have a new civilization in this patch: German.
0.16.0 mostly focuses on bugfixes and QoLs. However, the earliest two maps (Rome and Athens) deserve some love - they are buffed a bit to bring them more in line with newer maps.
Update: please make sure you are on Build 405. An earlier build (404) has player trades disabled by mistake This patch brings you Information Age, and the complete tech tree! But the game is far from done! I have plans for more content:
Patch 0.11.0 introduces a new Religion system, plus two important QoL changes. Before going into the details, I am very happy to announce that more than 500 players have purchased the supporter pack! As mentioned before, one copy of the supporter pack is roughly equivalent to one day's server cost - this help fund the game's server for 500 days, until 1 July 2025!
The final release build number is 0.6.0 Build 247 - make sure you are on this build. This version contains code that supports the upcoming supporter pack https://store.steampowered.com/app/2788080/CivIdle__Supporter_Pack/ If you have made a donation (regardless of the amount) before the supporter is available, I will send you a Steam key for the supporter pack when it is released. There are a couple of people who've donated but I don't have the contact information - if you are one of them, feel free to give me a ping on Discord or email (hi @ fishpondstudio . com) with the GitHub account that you used to donate on Github so that I can send you a Steam key.
This is the biggest patch since the early access launch: it took me hours to collect all the changes and I am sure I have missed a lot. Not only we get a new era (World Wars) with 16 new buildings, 6 new wonders, 7 new great people and lots of significant gameplay changes! Also the balancing of the game has been improved to make new eras feel more significant and make longer runs more viable. The permanent great people carry-over rule for Tribune rank up has been relaxed to make it more friendly for new players while helping keep bots/spammers/cheaters away and keep the game completely free for everyone. Also Devonin has written an extremely helpful new player guide. If you are new to the game, be sure to check it out! Here are the patch notes:
An earlier 0.3.0 build has a visual glitch that sometimes does not reveal fogs and tiles correctly. This has been fixed, please make sure you are on 0.3.0 Build 182
First of all, I apologize for the delay of 0.2.1 - this build had some issues in the beta branch and I kept it in beta a bit longer than usual. If you are on the beta branch and are affected by the issue, please see this thread for details. This means 0.3.0 will be slightly delayed as well. 0.3.0 will bring a wonder cost balance (more streamline build time / cost), new great people, and a reworked market and warehouse. Several player trade enhancements. You can see the roadmap here
It's been a week since the early access release! Since then, we have had 12 small patches: fixing bugs and improving QoL. In fact, lots of important QoLs like Transport Preference, Max Transport Distance, Favorite Buildings, and Parallel Construction Transports have been shipped in these daily patches. We have also reached more than 1,000 concurrent players! (SteamDB reports 1,060, and the game server reports 1,221). The server has been under stress but luckily there were only 2 crashes, both happened while I was awake so I was able to minimize the impact. Also, I am happy to see lots of players have reached Quaestor - I know the 48-hour playtime requirement is annoying, but it is the only viable way to keep the server running and keep the base game free. I am grateful for the support I get from our community: we have volunteer moderators helping with game chat, we have translators helping localize the game (Now CivIdle speaks 11 languages!), and I have received several donations from the players helping cover the server expense. If you want to support the game and keep it running, I will release a "Supporter Pack" on Steam in the future, with some extra perks. If you have donated, feel free to ping me (@FishPond on Discord) and I will give you a supporter pack key when it is available. We also have 100+ reviews on Steam at 75% positive (as of writing). For those of you who enjoyed this game, I hope you will enjoy this content patch! And for those of you who didn't, I know this game has rough edges here and there but I am trying my best to make it better every day and I hope at some point you will give it another chance. Speaking of the content patch, here are the patch notes:
