Enjoy the festive season in POOLS and well see you all next year.

VR Beta feedback, discussion and bug reports
Feel free to have VR mode related discussion, feedback and thoughts on Steam Forums. If you wish to leave feedback anonymously, weve created a Google Form where you can give your thoughts about the VR mode. You can also always contact us at our Discord-server or via e-mail at support(at)tensori.fi We're especially looking for feedback on how the VR mode works with different types of VR devices, such as Valve Index or Pico VR headsets. Weve developed and tested the game using Meta Quest 2, 3 and a PlayStation VR2 headset on PC, so any comments about the play experience and SteamVR input rebind tool on different devices is incredibly helpful. The VR mode has a suite of comfort and accessibility settings. Wed love to hear if you are able to find a combination of these settings that allows for a comfortable VR experience. If youd like to see a new setting added to the VR mode, please let us know about it on this thread, feedback form, Discord-server, or e-mail. Have fun! - Tensori

Another batch of bug fixes and improvements is here! We recently got our hands on a Steam Deck and we have been testing and improving the play experience on the device.
Collaboration with UNIKAT
Added UNIKAT label as co-publisher to Steam page. UNIKAT is a collection of independent, unique, and minimal games. It's brand new venture from Michal Napora who has helped us in marketing. No changes to relationship, we will still operate as an indie company.
General changes
- Added graphical presets dropdown to settings menu
- Fixed a bug where chapter 6 autosave would not get deleted when finishing the chapter
- Adjusted glass material
- Updated localizations
- Changed controller trigger inputs from sprint action to camera zoom in/out actions
- Added camera look sensitivity multiplier to zoom action. Zooming in reduces the look sensitivity linearly depending on the level of zoom.
- Fixed a bug where settings menu dropdown elements would not scroll vertically when using a controller
- Fixed a bug where UI navigation would drop inputs when using a controller's directional pad at low frame rates
- Fixed positions of some spawned objects using "spawn" command from dev console
- Fixed a rare bug where water dripping got stuck in a loop when exiting water
- Loading screen now automatically skips the play button after player has finished chapter 1
- Adjusted camera behavior in water slides:
- In bends, the camera now adapts more strongly to the shape of the slide and anticipates the player's future movement path. This improves the visual presentation of those spots where the camera would look straight ahead at a wall instead of the incoming path.
- Added bloom lens dirt effect toggle to the graphics settings menu
- Fixed incorrect controller button icons in settings menu when using certain Xbox controllers
- Fixed a bug where player could get stuck in air when walking on a ledge
Steam Deck
- Steam Deck has these custom graphical presets:
- Performance (60fps)
- Balanced (40fps)
- Quality (30fps)
- Added Steam Deck input icons to settings screen
Linux
- Fixed missing audio output on some Linux devices
- Fixed video file playback (.mp4 format was not supported)

You can now sink into the sounds and ambience of POOLS no matter where you are, where you go, and what youre doing. These soundscapes were created by four amazing artists: Erik Nyholm, Mikko Tarmia, Sjellos & tohmei, Jackson Derby. Without their work, POOLS would not be the experience that it is today. You can buy the soundtrack right here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/2976480/POOLS_Soundtrack/ And as always, thank you for your support. Your Tensori Team

First week after launch is now behind us, and what can we say - the launch was successful, beyond all our expectations.
The amount of positive reviews and feedback we've received so far is absolutely overwhelming.

- Fixed a bug where "Invert y-axis" setting would be ignored when starting a new chapter
- Fixed a bug where frame rate limit selection would not be saved when modifying the setting from main menu screen
- Fixed a bug in chapter 2 where players could walk up inside a yellow slide and get stuck
- Enabled V-sync by default for new players
- Default lighting quality setting updated from "High" to "Medium" for new players
- Frame rate limit dropdown menu is now not interactable if V-sync is enabled

In loading screens, V-sync is disabled by default and target frame is locked to 30. If V-sync is enabled, the game's target frame rate is determined by the window mode setting and display resolution setting:
- Fullscreen: target frame rate is current display resolution selection's maximum refresh rate
- Borderless windowed and windowed: target frame rate is the maximum supported refresh rate of your display regardless of the resolution selection

Note: There are no monsters chasing you or jumping suddenly towards you, but the game can feel oppressive. POOLS plays on fears of getting lost, the dark, and tight spaces.
The game has no user-interface and no dialogue. No background music. Instead, the game uses sounds to make you feel like you're really there. The sounds and echo change depending on the room you're in. Walking in water is slower. All of these things makes the game feel more real and creates a tense atmosphere.
There's no typical story, no characters to meet, and you won't find any notes in game. But as you explore and advance further, you start to notice that the game's world changes around you. Rooms look and feel different. Each chapter has something unique. Constantly you're exploring new places, each with its own kind of mystery.
POOLS has six unique chapters, each taking 10 to 30 minutes to play.
POOLS is inspired by a internet phenomenons "Liminal spaces", "Found footage" and "Backrooms" - specifically "Backrooms Pools" or "Poolrooms".
One of the original artists behind the Poolrooms concept is Jared Pike.
Other inspirations include:
- Matt Studios: Poolrooms videos from 2022
- Mortain Colors
- Anemoiapolis: Chapter 1 by Andrew Quist
- Kane Pixels: The Backrooms (Found Footage)
