About "Threads of Destiny"

Threads of Destiny massively increases the game's scope with three additional expansions. The first one of them is the long-awaited French Campaign - an epic adventure of gargantuan proportions that will take the player on a journey across the entire kingdom of France with 5 new chapters of story content. It is by far the largest campaign in the game and it is filled to the brim with new characters to meet, foes to defeat and challenges to overcome. The second new addition is equally as anticipated as it finally allows the player to properly complete their ultimate journey from a peasant to a king. With the expansion to the English campaign Threads of Destiny enables you to finally shake off the shackles of loyal servitude to King Edward and isntead usurp his throne. Create, protect and manage your own kingdom in order to see it either prosper and thrive - or collapse into obscurity. The third new campaign will open before the player yet another career door. With Threads of Destiny you will now be able to become a bounty hunter. Join Grace and Glory on their adventures and see if the three of you can build a true camaraderie that will stand any test... Or get blinded by the glitter of gold and end up betraying each other over a lump sum of money. As always, together with the DLC we are releasing a major patch that will update the game to version 2.0. That patch will be avilable for free for all the players.

New stuff in Patch 2.0:

1. NPC models will now be automatically updated if a character's shield is broken. 2. Endurance now provides a possibility of recovering twice as much stamina. 3. Coordination now is responsible for resisting stuns and throwing weapons' accuracy. 4. Agility no longer provides a bonus to hit chance. 5. Every injury a character has amplifies the damage that they receive. 6. Feint's blind debuff accuracy and evasion value is doubled. 7. Added new rare recruitable allies of unique classes that can only be encountered during special events. 8. Player squad members will now occasionally react to player's bahviour and either approve or disapprove of it resulting in various events and interactions. 9. A lot of trinkets have been reworked. Several new ones have been added. 10. New scavenging events have been added. 11. Fixed a bunch of errors in localization. 12. Some of the enemy encounters will result in ambushes with enemies being the first to take their turn and player suffering a stamina debuff (in Prestige mode). 13. Added 12 new weapons and 2 new shields. 14. The majority of civic talents have been reworked. Several new ones have been added - some of them granting access to unique items and interactions. 15. A lot of weapons have been reworked - their stats and movesets have been changed in order to create more various opportunities for damage scaling. 16. Added a couple of new events and interactions into the first half of the game. 17. Completing quests now earns the player experience points that are used to unlock new civic talents. Talent upgrade points are now longer granted automatically at the start of each chapter. 18. Having very high or very low virtue will now sometimes result in the player character automatically picking certain options in dialogues that suit their behavior. 19. Prestige mode will now have economic zones - depending on who you're trading with the prices in shops will be influenced by your reputation or Prestige. 20. Bonus items appearing in shops will now too be dependant on either reputation or Prestige, depending on who you're trading with. 21. Ultra high virtue will now enable the player to receive battle blessings temporarily improving their preformance in battle. 22. Prestige mode now has a bit more time in chapters. This DLC and patch are the results of incredibly hard work and we very much hope that it will prove to be a nice Christmas present for all of you. Thanks you very much for playing! Hello everyone! We're incredibly happy to announce that Heads Will Roll: Reforged has now officially been released. We have been working on the project for an unbelieveably long time and poured all of our heart and soul into it. The original HWR had a very unique vision behind it, a vision that for a variety of reasons we were not able to fully accomplish at the time. Reforged is everything that we envisioned the original HWR to be. Hopefully you will enjoy playing this game just as much as we've enjoyed making it. Weapons and Combat Mechanics

Hello. In this blogpost we'd like to share some news about weapons and combat system of both HWR: Reforged and HWR: Downfall. In our opinion, the original Heads Will Roll both had a pretty respectable arsenal of weapons and did a decent job highlighting the strengths and weaknesses of different weapon types. In Reforged and Downfall we decided to expand the overall arsenal while, at the same time, increasing and preserving the uniqueness of each weapon. At this point in development there're 56 different melee weapons in the game including several ones that fall into completely new categories like 'curved swords' and 'throwing spears' that were not present in the original game. Both of these are an interesting addition mainly because they allow us to introduce new attacks and mechanics that, in turn, enable the player to create more unique playstyles. So, for example, curved swords have a new attack that increases the damage dealt to target by a portion of attacker's agility, but only if the blow lands clean (i.e. not fully or partially blocked by armor). What this means is that now there's a weapon, damage output of which scales with agility rather than only weapons skill or strength. Coupled with the addition of all kinds of new trinkets this allows for completely new playstyles that do not rely on brute force or heavy weapons for high damage output but rather on agility and precision. The introduction of throwing spears and javelins too aims at diversifying the approaches to combat that are available to the player. The 'Spear Throw' attack makes use of both agility (to hit the target) and strength (for damage modifier) for an absolutely devastating effect. Even at the start of the game, with a relatively weak character, this attack is capable of doing damage in the realm of high 20s and one-shotting shields. And since all throwing spears have at least one melee attack, your options with them are never limited to just throwing so you can hold your own in melee combat. Thus you can both throw your spear at the beginning of the battle and then instantly switch to the second weapon. Or wait until there's an opportune moment or a proper target and then throw it.
Another thing we did was buffing the one-handed longswords. In the original game they were widely considered to be one of the worst weapon types. And this, by itself, is not a very bad thing as, contrary to the popular belief, in the real medieval combat the longswords were never considered to be that amazing of a weapon. Depending on the situation, a poleaxe, a spear, a mace, a flail or an axe would pretty much always be a better option that a sword, while circumstances where a longsword would be better than any of the above were very rare. But, at the same time, longswords were indeed used very widely and were by all means an iconic weapon of that era. Thus, searching for a way to buff them in the game, we came up with an idea of another attack a fencing move. Dubbed 'Counter Strike' this attack increases the hit chance if the target has missed their previous attack or has a 'feinted' debuff applied to them. The idea should be pretty obvious: deceive your enemy with feints, make them miss make them pay. Obviously, this playstyle too can hugely benefit from a variety of new trinkets that can improve your feinting skills, dmage output, chance to inflict a bleeding or an injury or break enemy's armor.
On top of that a lot of weapons (both old and new) received unique attack effects: rusty swords and axes can inflict a small poisoning; messers, gross-messers and curved swords have a higher chance to inflict bleedings etc. And even that's not entirely it as there're actually two more new attacks - Helmbreaker (for Horseman's axe) and Coup de Grace (for several swords). But in the interest of time we'll leave them for another occasion. If you liked the news then rejoice as Downfall is just a couple of months away. And, hopefully, it will not disappoint you.

HWR News New armor system overview

Hello. As was promised, today I'm bringing you another blogpost with more information about new features that will be introduced in Reforged and Downfall. This time we will discuss armor. First of all, let's talk numbers. The overall amount of available armor items has been increased dramatically. At this point the work-in-progress build of the game has 21 body armors, 21 helmets, 20 gorgets\bracers\greaves and several helmet attachments. This is a considerable improvement over the original game and this number is very likely to increase even more as the work is not yet done. Having this many types of defensive equipment will allow the player to deeply customize his character's loadout in order to suit the chosen playstyle or address any particular issue.

New slots

This is also helped by the fact that there will be 3 new equipment slots for gorgets (neck armor), bracers and greaves (limbs armor). Thus, even at the earlier stages of the game, the player can obtain a very respectable level of protection. But most of the armor, obviously, comes with various debuffs so it will always be a trade-off between better protection or better combat stats.

Prestige

New equipment slots and new armor pieces are also going to have more significance due to the introduction of the Prestige mechanic. The better equipment you've got on - the higher is your Prestige. This, in turn, means better chance to impress people and command their respect. So, if you find yourself doing some diplomatic mission or seeking to make an impression on a noble lady it may be wise to put aside your trusty but worn chainmail and suit up with something fancier (even if you're not intending to use it on a battlefield).

Combat mechanics

When it comes to combat mechanics there's news too. Limbs armor is now a fully separate value; all armor items can now receive separate damage to diffetent armor zones (so, for example, a body armor with limbs protection after absorbing blows to the limbs can lose several points of 'limbs armor' value while 'torso armor' value will remain as it was). The same applies to allies and enemies whose equipment too can take damage to a particular zone.

Manual armor repair

During repair the item can lose some stats as well. For example, armor, cover and prestige values will lower when the player attempts to manually repair the item while not being that skilled at craftsmanship. Obviously, the more you level the skill - the fewer stat losses your items will take. Same thing will happen if the player does cheap partial repair through blacksmith. Full repair, on the other hand, might cost a lot higher but will return your item back with pristine stats.

Armor crafting

And now for the most interesting part armor crafting and custom armor. Yes, both Downfall and Reforged will have armor crafting: player will be able to combine different armor items in order to get an item with higher stats. Unlike consumable crafting system, armor crafting WILL NOT be giving you a predetermined item with a prethough list of parameters but rather will produce you a completely new item with dynamic stats. This means that combining two damaged or two pristine items will not give you the same result. The outcome will also be influenced by your craftsmanship skill. The higher it is the more bonuses the item will receive (i.e. more armor, more cover, higher sell price, more prestige, fewer debuffs etc.).
Same goes for the head armor items. Some of helmets too will be able to be combined with each other (bascinet + mail coif, for example) or will take on attachments, like visor or face protection chops.
The player won't, of course, be able to combine ANY items heavy armor (plate mails, full helmets etc.) is not going to be usable in crafting. The crafting system will remain more reasonable and revolve around combining things like a padded jacket and a chainmail or a chainmail and a cuirass or a demi-cuirass and a plackart etc. So these are the main points when it comes to the new armor system. It took a lot of work to implement and I really hope that it will be a lot of fun for you to use. In the next blogposts I'm going to do similar overviews for weapons, trinkets, ally-related mechanics and other stuff so stay tuned for more news. A response to criticism and feature overview

Hello. About a week ago we've made an official announcement of HWR: Reforged and HWR: Downfall that received some criticism from the community. In my eyes the main reasons for that are misunderstanding and miscommunication that might've taken place. So, with this blogpost, I would like to clarify what exactly are HWR: Reforged and HWR: Downfall.

HWR: Reforged What will be new?

1. Story

Reforged will properly conclude both English and French storylines adding several new chapters to each of them, introducing a lot of new characters (including girls) and making the game at least twice as big in terms of story content. On top of that, some of the existing chapters (like Dartford for example) will be overhauled, the number of random quests and events will be increased.

2. New artstyle

Reforged will have a new (way superior in our opinion) artstyle for girls, dialogue character models and all the romance scenes. High-resolution versions of the models will also be included in the digital artbook that will be available together with the game.

3. New gameplay features

Reforged will have a tremendous amount of new features and mechanics (see list below).

4. New items

Reforged will introduce about 100 new items including all kinds of trinkets (some with active abilities), new armor (including leg armor for a dedicated slot), new weapons and new consumables.

5. Localization and bugfixing

With publisher's assistance we will be able to provide a way better localization and also work together with a QA team that will make sure there're no critical or major bugs on release. Considering the big amount of new content this is a very significant moment. This also means that the game might be translated into more languages. HWR: Reforged, with all of that new stuff, will be available with a launch discount and a discount for those who own the original HWR which will allow you to purchase the game for 50% off.

What is HWR: Downfall?

Downfall is a free-to-play 4 chapter long game that will act as a prologue for HWR: Reforged. Downfall's story will take place before the original game and will expand upon its lore and characters. Downfall will also have ALL THE NEW GAMEPLAY FEATURES so you'll be able to tell if you like the improved version of the gameplay or not. In future blogposts I intend to do in-detail overview of some of the new features (like reworked armor system, party management, new weapon mechanics, unique and active-ability trinkets, crafting skill overhaul etc.) so stay tuned for more news. I would also like to once again say thank you to everyone who supports this project. 1917 Studios is only two people (one of us does all the artwork and the other - everything else), we're not a huge money-hungry company and this is our first experience developing and releasing a game so naturally there're bumps along the road in every possible department. But we have our vision of this project and are striving to achieve it. And once the work is done - we're sure it won't disappoint you. Cheers, 1917 Studios (literally just two people)

P.S.

The long and incomplete changelog for features (stuff is still being added and tweaked so keep it in mind) 1. Prestige system (items and equipment that you put on your character determine how respectable he looks in the eyes of folks around; dressing like a knight or a nobleman invokes respect, dressing like a dirty peasant makes you laughed at). 2. New difficulty modes: mildly challenging Story mode with quicksaves and quickloads at any time and hardcore Ironman mode with permanent death, Profile levelling and roguelike mechanics. 3. Dedicated slots for gorgets, bracers and leg armor. 4. Reworked armor system. 5. Several types of item repair: cheap but partial (that makes item lose stats) or expensive but full. 6. New camp activities (praying, ritual self-punishment etc.). 7. Scabbards and in-battle weapon swapping. 8. New attacks and mechanics for weapons (including Spear Throw and wounds infected by rust). 9. An obtainable and upgradable chest, where player can store items while in camp. 10. Improved virtue mechanics and new dialogue interactions. 11. About a 100 new items. Including many consumables with various in-battle effects (alcohol, alchemy brews). 12. Tweaks to scavenging mode that will allow the player do decide beforehand what kind of resources he'd like to search for. 13. Huge balance changes for armor, weapons and trinkets. 14. New (and not braindead this time) AI for allies. 15. Hiring and managing a party of allies. 16. More boss battles with unusual enemies. 17. Dungeon system for some battles. Battles have several (usually 3-4) stages with increased rewards for completing each of them but also with increasingly tougher enemies. Player can back out of the fight after completing/surviving through any stage. And a lot of other stuff! https://store.steampowered.com/app/687800/Heads_Will_Roll_Reforged/ https://store.steampowered.com/app/1903060/Heads_Will_Roll_Downfall/

An official announcement and some big news

Hello guys! Today we're coming at you with some very big news regarding the ongoing development and the future of Heads Will Roll. First of all, we're happy to announce our partnership with Valkyrie Initiative - a publisher that will be helping us in the development of the game. They, among other things, will be taking care of the proper English and Chinese localization and the QA process. Instead of splitting future content into severall DLCs, we decided that the best thing would be to re-release the whole game, but this time - in a complete state. With fully finished storylines, all the characters available and without bugs. This re-released version will be named Heads Will Roll: Reforged and will, on top of everything already mentioned, include huge amounts of new content, new gameplay mechanics, improved visuals, a roguelike mode and much more. https://store.steampowered.com/app/687800/Heads_Will_Roll_Reforged/ As a big 'thank you' to our community everyone who's already bought the original Heads Will Roll will be able to purchase the Reforged version at a 50% discount. The development will take some time, but meanwhile there's something else that might keep you occupied. In order to showcase the new and improved gameplay mechanics we will be releasing a small free-to-play Prologue Heads Will Roll: Downfall that will, among other things, shed some light on the turbulent youth and uneasy relationships between some of the characters from the original game. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1903060/Heads_Will_Roll_Downfall/ Stay tuned for more news and detailed breakdowns of various new gameplay features! 1917 Studios

Roguelike mode (player's score at the end of each run is converted into gold that can be used to level up stats and purchase various equipment at the start of a new run, allowing you to start the game with highly customized character). 3. Ironman mode (a mode with permanent death and no ability to freely save\load). 4. Dedicated slots for gorgets and bracers (and also a lot more of them). 5. An obtainable chest, where player can store items while in camp. 6. Improved virtue mechanics and new dialogue interactions (for example, characters reacting to you being drunk). 7. Update 1.5 is out!

Hello, guys! First of all - merry X-mas and happy holidays to all of you! We're a little late to the party (as always) but better late than never, right? Update 1.5 is finally out. It brigns along lots of new gameplay features and also a bunch of new quests and mechanics. Unfortunately, due to the lack of time, we have not been able to do everything we wanted (like add more quests for the Blacksmith or partial item repair option etc.) but we'll continue to work and these things will come in the future. Our next stop will be big story DLC that should be arriving around the end February 2022. There will be about 5 to 7 new chapters, lots of new quests, characters, girls, important choices etc. Along with that the base game will be rebalanced and some of the stuff will also be expanded. This base game update will be free and will come in the form of another update (together with the release of the DLC). We've also got lots of interesting gameplay ideas (like being able to recruit various types of allies, equip them with weapons and equipment of your choice etc.) that hopefully will transform the game into an even more unique experience. So, once again, merry Christmas and happe new year! Stay tuned and thanks for playing Heads Will Roll. P.S. Unfortunately save games from older versions won't work with 1.5 so you'll have to start a new game. P.P.S. Here's a changelog for those who missed it: 1. Antidote rework - it now can apply a 'Poison Shield' effect that negates incoming poison damage. It also can be comsumed before battle. 2. New weapon type - throwing daggers. 3. New attacks (including some unique ones) for Justice Sword, Executioner's Axe, Estoc, Noble sword, Warhammer, Great Warhammer, Bastard sword, Mercenary's companion. 4. Shield can be dropped in battle. You can pick it back up during looting phase (some of the shot crossbow bolts and thrown daggers will also spawn there so you can pick them back up). 5. Scaling penalty for passivity in battle. 6. New character - Blacksmith. Player can use his services to repair armor, helmets and shields. 7. Posion rework - it can be now applied to your weapon in inventory menu or in battle (from trinket slot). 8. One bottle of poison can now be used to poison up to 3 bolts\daggers, losing 1 charge after each use. These partly-used bottles can still be applied to your weapon (giving it 1, 2 or 3 poison charges respecfully). 9. Enemies now can spawn with and use various trinkets. 10. Sheriff now drops proper loot (exactly the weapon that he had when you killed him). 11. Shop rework - overall number of available items was increased. Shop now spawns less crafting items, less duplicates and more armor\weapons\trinkets\equipment. 12. Some slight reworks to crossbows (the way they interact with armor). Also quarrelheads and arrows will now be a lot cheaper. 13. Massive update for Scavenge - a lot of new events and interactions (including running into traders or having battles with unique enemies and even some animals). 14. Bleed resistance effect (from Coagulant or trinkets) now has a proper visual icon. Coagulant can be consumed in camp to remove Bloodloss and Light Bloodloss. 15. Various new items. 16. A couple of new craftable items. Changes to some of the recipes. 17. Improved loot pools - enemies should no longer drop dirt cheap items like cloth or leather or quarrelheads and will more often drop more expensive items. 18. Several new unique quests and interactions for Bartholomew (including an ability to trade with him for some uncommon items). Also rework of his visual model. 19. In-game descriptions for unique abilities of bosses (Shield Wall, Warden etc.). 20. Fatigue icons of player and enemies can now be hovered over with mouse to see a pop-up window with information (you now longer have to open any menus to see the numbers). 21. New patterns of behaviour for AI (for example. enemies with two-handed axes will try ro actively break your armor until their friends have enough damage to reliably punch through it).

Regarding Update 1.5

Hello! First of all I'd like to apologize as I promised to release Update 1.5 some time ago but was unable to do that. However there's good news - the update is now in its final stages and should be coming very soon. I will not be giving a precise deadline so I won't blow it again but it is very close to being done. Update 1.5 is shaping to be absolutely massive. Here is an incomplete changelog with just the main changes: 1. Blacksmith will also be giving several quests. On top of that, of course, tons of bugfixes and probably a lot of other stuff! So yeah, this update is gonna be a pretty big one. Hopefully it will be out in a week or so and, after that, i'll be doing new story chapters. Stay tuned!

Coming next week - Update 1.5

Hello! We definitely did not expect this, but "small" update 1.5 is somehow shaping up to be even bigger than 1.3 with tons of new features. Here's a glimpse of what's coming: 1. Antidote rework. If applied before being poisoned it will give character a Poison Shield that will absorb incoming poison damage, negating its effect. 2. Change of crafting mechanics for poison. One bottle of poison can now be used on up to three bolts, losing 1 charge after every use. 3. Armor, helmets and shields now can be repaired. This service will be provided by a new character with new quests. 4. New attacks for Executioner's Axe, Justice Sword, Warhammer, Great Warhammer, Estoc, Mercenary's Companion. Including some with unique mechanics (Culling Strike, Smite). 5. Shield now can be dropped in battle. 6. Player's passiveness in combat will now have a scaling reputation\virtue penalty - starting relatively small and then increasing. 7. New weapon type - throwing daggers. 8. Improvements\reworks for several quests. 9, Enemies can spawn with and use several types of trinkets similar to the ones player has. 10. New UI tooltips for Fatigue, Shield and Posion Shield. 11. Some new items. And probably even more new stuff! Due to its impressive size this update is taking a little longer and will not be released this weekend. Instead we hope to release it some time next week - most likely somewhere around Friday-Sunday. After 1.5 we will be fully concentrating on new story chapters. Also, if you're interested in discussing game or would like to see some sneak peeks of new stuff - consider joining our Discord! https://discord.gg/6y2NjEpXWv Stay tuned!

Update 1.4

Hello guys! Several hours ago we released update 1.4 with several very important changes and improvements. What's new? 1. Infinite loop error has been fixed. 2. The Sergeant now can assist you in finding the gear you want. After the player proved himself to Sergeant, he will offer you his help in getting decent weapons and equipment. A lot of players have previously complained about the trade system and the fact that they cannot reliably find the items they want (like armor, shields or specific weapons). This feature is supposed to help remedy this situation. 3. New attack types for Maces (Bone Crusher) and Spears (Pierce) with high injury chance. 4. New ominous musical theme for the Warden and new visual model for the Sergeant. 5. AI fixes and improvements. 6. As per popular request, easy mode has been made even more easier - player will now have additional chances to hit and additional chances to evade incoming strikes. 7. A lot of various bugfixes in story quests, including bug with Drunkard quest (not being able to give antidote to Sergeant), bug with For Whom the Bell Tolls quest (Vettori asking for the crossbow for a second time and giving the player infintie quarrelheads) and some incorrect interactions with Queen of Swords quest. Also the player now can completely skip Eva's storyline (if he never met her) and get proper text outcome when killing\not killing De Roche. Originally, after update 1.3 we wanted to get straight to story DLC. However we have decided to slightly alter our plans and release another medium-sized update (after 1.4). It should introduce armor repairing system, several more attack types for various weapons, antidote rework and improvements to several story quests\events (something similar to what we did in 1.3). Hopefully this update will be released next weekend and after that we most definitely will be concentrating on DLC. As always - if you encounter any bugs or errors then let me know about it either here or on Discord. Also feel free to share your feedback on the overall state of the game as I would love to hear how do you feel about the new changes. On the final note, if you enjoy playing Heads Will Roll then please consider leavig a positive review. Recently we've received several negative reviews from people who played 70+ hours but apparently still did not receive their money's worth and felt 'unsatisfied'. This dropped the game rating from Positive to Mixed... So yeah, if you liked the game - then consider leaving a positive review as it really helps. Thanks for playing Heads Will Roll and stay tuned for future updates! 1917 Studios

Update 1.3 is live!

Hello guys! We're glad to announce that update 1.3 is finally live. It is a little bit late but hopefully it will be worth the wait. So, what's new? 1. Steam achievements. 2. Top scores board and proper score calculation at the end of each playthrough. 3. Strength is now responsible for inventory size. 4. Poison rework. Poison now can be applied to your weapon before combat. It can also be taken into combat without activation and then applied to your weapon at any moment. After it was applied an indicator above player's weapon will show what type of poison has been used and how long will it last. 5. New types of attacks for Spears (Feint Strike) and Halberds (Leg Sweep). 6. Enemies now will spawn with and use various consumable items. 7. AI has been improved and should now be more aggressive. 8. Cecilia will now sell player crafting recipes and give some of them for free. 9. Sheriff's model has been reworked. 10. "Death and taxes" quest has been expanded and now can directly influence your duel with the Sheriff, changing some of the Sheriff's starting equipment and making the fight either easier or harder. 11. "The Woods and the Goddess" quest has been reworked completely. 12. Two new boss fights with completely new characters have been added. 13. Aventail now has a proper visual model when player puts it on. 14. Some of AI movesets have been changed. 15. Slightly decreased poison spawn chance for a lot of enemies. 16. Fixed a lot of various bugs, typos and minor issues. Originally the list of new stuff was supposed to be even bigger but we just didn't have the time to properly implement more complex stuff (like armor repair). With this update done, we will be starting to work on the long-promised big story DLC with new chapters and girls. Most likely it will come out around January 2022 or so. Thanks for playing the game and sticking around! P. S. As always we will be monitoring the situation and if there are any major bugs in update 1.3 - we will try to fix them ASAP. If you encounter anything weired - make sure to post it in our Community Hub or on Discord (https://discord.gg/6y2NjEpXWv)

Update 1.3 Coming this weekend

Hey guys! Just a quick news regarding the status of Update 1.3. We've been working very hard for the last couple of weeks and, if all goes according to plan, it should be released at the end of this weekend (late night on Sunday Vladivostok time). Here's a preview of some of the new stuff that's coming in 1.3: 1. Steam achievements 2. Top scores and proper score calculation at the end of each run 3. Strength becomes responsible for inventory size 4. New unique attacks for Spears and Halberds 5. Enemies can spawn with and use various consumable items 6. Poison rework 7. Several new missions\encounters 8. AI improvements 9. A lot of bugfixes Due to the huge amount of stuff that's coming with 1.3, we have to do a lot of testing and, if we do not manage to complete it on time, the patch might be delayed by several days. Thanks for being patient and understanding. Stay tuned! 1917 Studious

Update 1.2b

Hey guys. This week we're uploading an update with balance and bugfixes. Changelog: 1. Weapon skill and Agility have been slightly rebalanced. Now weapon skill is primarily resposible for offense, while agility - for defense. When you're attacking an enemy, your agility will give only a slight bonus, while weapon skill will give a major one and when you're trying to dodge an enemy attack it will work the other way around. For enemies it works the same way. 2. Added a new type of training - training with coach. It will allow you to level your weapon skill significantly faster, but only for a price. Fatigue cost of other types of training have been slightly decreased. 3. Lowered the agility penalty for all shields. 4. Increased stamina cost for all two handed weapons. 5. Lowered damage of overhead strike. 6. Fixed a lot of small bugs and errors in localization. Originally we also wanted to add a new attack for spears but it is still being balanced so we decided to delay it. It, among many other things, should come with next update. Right now we're already working on the first major content patch. If all goes well it should be coming next weekend. Stay tuned!

Update 1.2 is live!

It has been a long time coming. Hey guys! We're glad to announce that the update 1.2 is finally here. With it comes a complete Russian localization of the game, a number of important bugfixes and several balance changes. The balance changes are primarily aimed at making the game more challenging in a fun way nerfing overpowered weapons and builds while buffing less favoured weapons and gameplay strategies. We undestand that at this point the balance is still significantly flawed and have a lot of ideas about how to fix this. With the Russian localization out of the way we will have a lot more time to implement these ideas, as well as finally releasing some new content. Why did this update take so long? Originally we promised to release 1.2 by the end of September but eneded up doing it almost a month late. This mainly happened due to us underestimating the amount of work that is required to do a proper localization of the game while still working our daily 9 to 5 jobs. However on top of that September turned out to be a highly unlucky month for us. One of the team members had unpleasant health issues, another run into troubles at their workplace. My phone died, my car broke down twice in two weeks. It was rough, but we got through this. Will the game be translated into other languages? That depends on how well the game does financially. If it will be doing well then the localizations into other languages will definitely come. If it won't - then they won't either for obvious reasons. What is next for Heads Will Roll? With the localization out of the way we are free to concentrate on content updates and this is exactly what we will do. We will do our best to release at least one major content update before the New Year (new chapters, quests, features and girls). These kind of content updates will come either as patches or as DLCs. Thanks for playing our game! Stay tuned! 1917 Studious

Coming this week Update 1.2

Hello guys! Update 1.2 is just around the corner and (if all goes well) it should be coming this weekend (most likely Sunday night). This update will bring Russian localization and a number of very important gameplay changes. Here are some of them: 1. Crossbows have been slightly reworked: now they require less skill points to be used effectively and have a higher chance of inflicting injuries. Coupled with all the pouches now having an extra slot (as of patch 1.1) they should become a considerably more viable option as a secondary or maybe even a primary weapon. 2. Crossbows' Aimed Shot attack now can target limbs and inflict proper limbs-related injuries. 3. Killed enemies will no longer drop bolts as loot and now have an increased chance to drop more valuable items (such as trinkets, armor/helmets and weapons). 4. Weapon Skill has been slightly reworked; it still increases damage but now has lower impact on character's hit accuracy and chances to evade an attack. 5. Solo training and sparring have been reworked and will yield less skill points. 6. Weak Spot attack no longer ignores shields. 7. All halberd-type weapons now have a Split Shield attack. 8. Killing bandits and brigands in the Woods will reward you with more Virtue and gold; looting them will not decrease your Virtue. 9. Various bugs and localization typos have been fixed. Please note, that this list in not the complete changelog and full changelog will be posted on the day of release. Stay tuned.

Update 1.1 is live!

Update 1.1 is finally live and it's bringing some huge and long-awaited changes to the game! 1. Game now has 3 difficulty levels, including an Easy mode that allows to save game at any point and makes combat significantly less challenging (increased hit probasbility for the player, lowered hit probability for enemies, more gold, more time etc.). 2. Improved overall combat balance. Some of the enemies have less stats; number of enemies in some fights is decreased (Lindisfarne, London etc.); decreased chances of enemies having poison (and especially level 2 posion). 3. Increased gold bounties that the player receives at the beginning of each chapter. 4. Player now cannot fail Recover action more than 2 times in a row. In case of 2 consequtive fails the 3rd time will always be a success. On Easy difficulty it will always be a success no matter what. 5. Fixed a bug with permanent agility loss after an enemy "Split Shield" attack breaks your sheild. 6. Fixed a bug when you wouldn't be able to press "Proceed" button in chapter III without completing "For Whom the Bell Tolls pt.2" quest. Now both parts of this questline can be completely skipped. 7. Fixed a bug when a "Pharmacist" quest would endlessly repeat itself after being already completed. 8. Improved UI: shield attacks now have proper descriptions in battle. 9. Numerous other bugfixes (including issues with battle at the end of Chapter I, invisible enemies, enemies skipping their turns, combat interface not disappearing after a battle, some of the trinkets not working properly, issues with Alyssa's quests not triggering properly and many others). 10. Player's reputation with soldiers now heavily influences ally's equipment in battle; the higher the reputation the better the allies will be armed and equipped (this feature was present in 1.0 but wasn't working as intended). 11. Added numeric indicators to relationship, reputation and virtue bars. 12. Added another type of training Sparring (gives you 2 skill points instead of 1 but requires high rep with soldiers). 13. Fixed several localization typos as well as errors with Russian text appearing in English version of the game. 14. Increased item capacity of all belts and pouches by 1. During the next couple of days we will be monitoring the situation and, if needed, will upload additional minor patches or hotfixes in order to combat bugs or errors. The next major objective for the team is the release of a complete Russian version which should be coming in a week or two. Most likely it will come together with another balance\bugfix\minor content patch similar to 1.1. After that we will post a roadmap for the rest of the year that will detail our plans for future major content updates. Once again thank you for being patient and understanind. Hope you enjoy the game! Stay tuned. 1917 Studios P.S. The music might be turned off by default so remember to turn it on in the Preferences menu.

Update 1.1 upcoming changes

Hello guys! We are hard at work on update 1.1 and intend to release it next weekend if all goes smoothly. Here are some of the main features of the upcoming update: 1. Game now has 2 difficulty levels, including a Normal and an Easy mode that makes combat significantly less challenging (increased hit probasbility for the player, lowered hit probability for enemies, more gold etc.). 2. Improved overall combat balance. Knights and bandits\brigands have less stats; number of enemies in some fights is decreased (Lindisfarne for example). 3. Increased gold bounties for some of the quests and also the wages that the player receives at the beginning of each chapter. 8. Improved UI: shield and crossbow attacks now have proper descriptions in battle. 9. Various other bugfixes, including issues with battle at the end of Chapter I. Originally I wanted to add 3 difficulty levels (Easy, Normal and Hardcore\Ironman with limited ability to save and permanent death) but Hardcore needs some serious work to feel right. So I decided to postpone it to a later date. Keep in mind that this list is a subject to change and the full actual changelog will be posted on the day of release. Stay tuned and thanks for playing our game!

Heads Will Roll has been submitted for Steam review!

Hello. First of all I would like to inform you that Heads Will Roll has been submitted for Steam review and should be going live as soon as it is approved by Steam (normally it takes 3-5 days). Secondly I would like to once again apologize for the delay. Heads Will Roll is not only a huge project but also is my first experience with game development, so naturally getting everything done on time proved to be a challenge. The version that we will be releasing in the upcoming days will be English-language only. Russian version will be coming shortly after (I hope to get it done until the end of September). Other languages are also being talked about but everything will depend on how well the game will be received by the players. Stay tuned.

The development has been completed!

Hello guys! My name is Nik and I'm the creator of Heads Will Roll. I am glad to inform you that I have completed the development and the game itself is finally done! However, due to huge amount of content, we've run into some minor issues regarding localization and will require just a little bit more time to properly translate everything and make sure all works as it should. With that being said I am pushing the release date to August 30th 2021. I know that this is the second time that I'm postponing the game and I feel ashamed for that. I would like to apologize to all of you and promise that this is the last time I'm doing this. To make you feel better, here is a couple of new screenshots with some stuff and characters that I've never shown before. I would also like to let you know that from now on we will be monitoring this section. So, if you have any questions - feel free to ask them and we will give a reply. Thanks for your interest towards this project. Hopefully the game will not disappoint you!
