UNCLE KENNY ACT 3 and the WILDLIFE UPDATE (Animals and Variety) HAVE BEEN PUSHED TO CHRISTMAS 2024 Uncle Kenny has been a passion project of mine since 2021. I made continuous progress on it through to 2023 At some point, I was discouraged to complete the game, but after my 18th birthday in February, I hunkered down and completed the first act and released it to Steam. Afterwards, I spent the next month straight doing nothing but completing Act 2, and in late April released that first expansion Over the following weeks I released local co-op mode, then went dark for an entire year. Yet, as my first year of college continued, I knew I had to come back, that it was more than time to return to the drawing board and get started on the conclusion of the largest passion project of my life. And on April 30th, 2024, I got back to work on Uncle Kenny The Game. It has been three months since that day, and I have been tirelessly tinkering at the elusive third act. But, my ideas continued ballooning. New level concepts, story ideas, improvements. I spent the first few weeks of May simply making editions and changes to the content already in the game. I pushed out maybe 5 or 6 updates in that time. The game felt much better to play, and was completely optimized and improved. Still, there was the beast that was the third act. It is not only the largest act in the game, but also probably twice as long as Acts 1 and 2 combined. This game, when completed, will be around 6 hours long. Act 3 is so much of this game's content that I cant even imagine the game without it anymore. There is only one issue - development time. I have been on this for three months, the most consistent time I've probably ever put into anything in my entire life. And it's barely 50 percent complete. I've added every gun, almost every upgrade in the skill tree, yet, the levels are just not all there yet. Another issue is rearing its head as well in the form of my third semester this August. I firmly believe that I will not be able to finish this project by the time I start school. If I had another 2 months with zero distractions, and nothing except for this game, I would probably be able to get it done. But I do not. Still, I promise this - the game will be out when it is ready, and it will be the complete version. I think that this game will be ready for Christmas 2024. But I have said so many release dates and failed to meet them, that I wouldn't be surprised if it was delayed again. But let's hope for December 20th. That's a good date. As well, the promised Wildlife Update will be grouped in with Act 3, giving me and my girlfriend time to implement all of the assets and animations in a polished state. That update will bring new life to the entire experience of the game. As well, I am adding new levels to Act 1 and the game opening, but that will likely destroy any legacy save files, so be mindful of that before Act 3 releases this December, although I doubt it will be a large issue, as long as you've completed Act 2, Act 3 will still be unlocked even if your save file is no longer usable. I'm going to go radio silent after this until I am ready to release a trailer. Thank you all gamers, game on, and come back this Christmas for the final chapter, of the Uncle Kenny Game. Gamers... Believe it or not, my ass has been hard at work with Act 3. Ive been very very very hard at work. But you gotta trust me, this is the greatest thing I have ever made in my life. In the one year hiatus from Uncle Kenny updates and development, I had so much time to stew over different ideas in my head for how I would close it out. Part of me thought that it would never be done, that I would never have the passion and drive to finish this masterpiece product... but It's happening, and its so so good gamuhhs its so good I can't reveal anything too crazy right now, other than a couple things: In Act 3, there will be: - Grenades - Jetpacks - Slingshots - AND FORCE POWERS!!!!!! It is so, so hype my brothers. This will be worthy of the Uncle Kenny name. With that in mind, there are two annoucnements I need to make. 1. Animals and Variety Update to Acts 1 and 2. 2. ACT 3 DELAY For number 1, there will be a number of additions to the gameplay of acts 1 and 2 to spice things up, as well as new creatures and animals such as bees and catterpillars. It will be beautiufl. I'm hoping to release it by August 1st. For number 2, bros, you gotta trust, this is worth the wait. I need time on this, but when Im working on it 8-10 or so hours or something a day trust that I'm working as hard as I can and this product will be so, so beautiful. GAMERS Another optimization patch. - When you first start up the game with no save file, you can now enable co-op play and enter the options menu. - Carl's shop voice lines when purchasing items are more spaced out. - Music files are now correctly in their own group, can be turned off separately from sound effects once again. - Added spooky piano music to start of Act 2 just for fun. - Snails move a little when they die like other enemies. - ACT 3 WORK AS WELL. Be prepared for further optimization updates until Act 3
VERY SMALL UPDATE, OPTIMIZATION. PATCH NOTES- - OPTIMIZED MUSIC FILES, game is now only 1.2 gigs instead of 2 gigs. Bloat from music in game should be reduced, and any audio glitches should be fixed. - Enemy bullets create blood splatter when hitting another enemy - Jumping on a snail shell has a better range of pitches than before to reduce repetition. Been researching other Windows outputs, so expect more performance improvements in the future.
FINAL MAJOR PATCH BEFORE ACT 3 LAUNCH
Gamers, I'm pleased to announce that this is officially the final major patch before the launch of Act 3. I'm not sure how long it will take for the final version 3.00 to release, but in the mean time, enjoy a huge content update for acts 1 and 2.
PATCH NOTES -
General Fixes -
- AMMO COUNTER added when picking up ammunition. Its color depends on which ammo has been picked up. Might use this for a points mode as well, as the ammo counter is pretty satisfying when there's many at the same time.
- SNAIL SHELLS NOW ZOOM WHEN JUMPED ON! Theres a few glitches, for example, the shell wont go up a slope yet. Still, I felt like this needed to be added!
- The low health indicator only beeps twice per level now, so as to indicate to the player that they are almost dead, but stops because it would get annoying after a while
- Turning on hard mode no longer requires you to start the game over. No idea why that was ever a thing in the original launch
- Uncle Kenny has more facial animations, reacts when shooting, and is scared when using the flashlight in ACT 2.
- You can now turn off controller vibration and screen shake in the options menu.
OPENING SPECIFIC -
Due to a request from multiple people, added secret hard jumps to obtain extra coins early in the game.
ACT 1 SPECIFIC -
- ENEMIES NOW SPEAK. I plan to implement this in Act 3 as well.
- Enemies have a chance to grunt upon dying, more grunts on the way!
- Enemies mouths move while speaking.
- Carls mouth moves when speaking now. New voice lines are to be added to the shop
- Hank now has Uncle Kennys improved grapple hook physics in co-op mode.
- Queen Snail now has her crown finally.
- Carls shop fix, used to be able to purchase upgrades before having the correct weapon unlocked.
ACT 2 SPECIFIC -
- Flamethrower fuel now has a range of ammo from 100 to 120 instead of set 100.
- Batteries have been reduced from 9 to 7, which can increase tension in early areas.

ANOTHER SMALL PATCH PRE- ACT 3!! Patch Notes: - The Grapple Hook now holds horizontal momentum after a swing for a brief time, and increases the potential jump height. I think this will hugely improve the feel of that section of the game. And now prepares the game for a grapple hook in Act 3. Get ready!! - Removed the coin paywall to the menu extras section, not sure why I ever added that because it never worked right, as well, re-recorded the voice line that plays in the room. - Fixed the blood output of the king snail, reduced his health a little as well. - Behind the scenes work so the file size is a little larger. - Removed the ability for users to get into a test area of Act 3. EXPERIENCE UNCLE KENNY... NOW WITH BLOOD!!
General Fixes:
-Added blood to the entire game! I genuinely think this is an overdue edition, and improves the game feel a lot!
-Crates now break with particles!
-Added graphics through the first two acts such as grass and trees, paintings in buildings, etc. More to come as well.
Act 1 Fixes:
-Fixed crash with snail queen, and made the boss slightly more fair. More snail queen editions coming in the future, such as more varied attacks.
-Route 12 gondola blood on walls.
Improved flow of levels, removed black bars appearing at every single transition and cutscene
-Chasing snails now properly indicate when they are stunned
-Shotgun jump no longer kills your jump momentum in firepower levels
Act 2 Fixes:
-Fixed co-op with Hanks flashlight not working against enemies.
-Fixed Hanks head getting stuck on a certain ceiling.
-Small level design tweaks to improve readability and player experience.
-Added subtitles to one cutscene

Gamers, I deeply apologize for the six month hiatus with no developments. I am halfway into my first semester of college, when I was working on a Java project, I realized that I could integrate the knowledge I learned in school to create an even better final act of the Uncle Kenny franchise. Give me some time, but from now on, I will be working on some stuff in the background to get the ball rolling on this project again. SOME SPECIFIC FIXES FOR SINGLEPLAYER MODE AFTER ADDING MULTIPLAYER

LOCAL CO-OP CAN NOW BE ENABLED IN THE MAIN MENU!! Although I havent implemented a Steam API to take advantage of streaming the game to another player to play co-op just yet, Im going to be looking into that in the future. PATCH NOTES: -LET A SECOND PLAYER JOIN THE UNCLE KENNY CAMPAIGN AT ANY POINT!!! - Game breaking bug fixed when picking up the flamethrower on the same save file used to pick up the initial pistol in ACT 1. - Pause screen now cuts to black and creates a menu letting the player know how to reset to the main menu. - Some small quality of life ACT 2 fixes.
PATCH NOTES -MAC VERSION FRIDAY, APRIL 21ST Act 2- - Entirely new levels, whole new section of the game. - Some levels previously contained in the game files are now accessible by normal means and are far more polished - Lots of new cutscenes that make up most of the file size - Lots of new spooky music, the soundtrack is still coming soon! Act 1- - Changed the position of the shop sign to make it more visible to players - Reworked every instance of the grapple hook to further optimize the game and reduce the chance of unfair missed connections with the grapple shot - Optimized the climax of the act by destroying enemy instances upon falling out of the map, allowing the game to maintain performance indefinitely when sitting idle in the level - In the same section, fixed the constant presence of the coin counter and its changing colors - Same section, controller fix with swingshot where aim would reset to original position when not holding the aiming stick beforehand. - Tinkered with weapon hitboxes and added the muzzle flash back to the pistol weapon General Editions- - Finally, I made an options menu. Right now it's pretty rudimentary but I'd be interested to hear any suggestions of options I can add. The menu includes a previously unheard track and allows players to fullscreen, and toggle sound effects and music on and off. Chosen options remain consistent upon reopening the game - Game no longer has a non-borderless windowed option due to a nigh-unfixable engine bug where lighting would permanently disappear when minimizing the tab. - Changed the main menu key to M so as to make returning to the menu on keyboard easier - Made it clear that M returns to the main menu and F4 puts game in fullscreen, something that previously confused many players - Performance fixes across the board - Main Menu is altered, added a patch version number to the corner - Extras Menu has some more fun graphics - Exit button has a slightly more polished response to player action instead of just suddenly closing. - When player has one heart left, game uses a tone sound and displays final heart to remind player that they need to heal or avoid taking damage PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU RUN INTO ANY ISSUES AND I WILL DO MY BEST TO ASSIST YOU AND FIX THE BUG IN A PATCH!!

HELLO GAMERS Today is a very special update on the development of the coming free update titled ACT 2. First off, to clear any confusion- Act 2 is a FREE update for anyone that currently owns Uncle Kenny The Game. The general price for new players will be raised to $2.99 on the day of release. Similarly, this summer, when the final act releases, the price will be raised to a final $3.99. WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THIS UPDATE?!?! - The next chapter of the Uncle Kenny story, with a theme of horror partly inspired by Resident Evil 4 (2005) and the explorative sections or Resident Evil Village. - THE FLAMETHROWER - Some new surprises and familiar weapons. - A lot of new platforming mechanics. -A RELEASE OF UNCLE KENNY THE GAME ON MAC! WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE?? Originally, I had hoped to launch Act 2 on April 20th. As the day gets closer, I've realized that there is a lot of polish work left to complete, and I want to get this launch right so that I can start work on the final ACT 3 as soon as possible for a July release date. So, my new and likely final release date has been moved to MAY 15TH The two month anniversary of the original launch. On that note, I'd also like to release Act 3 on July 15th, although I cant say for sure if that's plausible as I have a lot of work left to complete until I can say for sure. I WANT TO THANK EVERYONE FOR PLAYING UNCLE KENNY AND I LOOK FORWARD TO MORE UPDATES AS THE MAY 15 RELEASE DATE COMES CLOSER! SOME FINAL CHANGES This is a smaller hotfix, only a few minor changes. - You can no longer soar to the sky with the shotgun using the number keys, Uncle Kenny cannot escape his simulation no matter how hard he tries. - Optimized grapple hook section, removed over 1,700 instances and enhanced accuracy of the grapple shot, reducing the chance of unfair failed connections - Slightly reduced the chance of Uncle Kenny talking in order to further prevent him from independent thinking - Some minor soft lock fixes - Reduced the random spread of the machine gun as a result of player feedback. THIS IS LIKELY THE LAST PATCH UNTIL ACT 2. ENJOY!!
A NEW VERSION OF UNCLE KENNY IS NOW HERE!! These past few days I have been working on Act 2, but there were still a few things that I went back and fixed on Act 1, including: - Uncle Kenny can no longer escape his prison by walking to the left immediately following the start of a new level in the opening levels of the game. - Inspired by the modern masterpiece Forespoken, Uncle Kenny now very occasionally speaks during gameplay and grunts when hurt by an enemy. - Some behind the scenes tuning for Act 2 - Miscellaneous minor fixes. A NOTE ON THE MAC VERSION OF UNCLE KENNY As my subscription to Gamemaker is ending in a few days, this will likely be the last update of the game until when ACT 2 comes out. AS A RESULT, THE MAC VERSION OF UNCLE KENNY HAS BEEN DELAYED UNTIL APRIL 20th I hope to add in Steam achievements at some point as well, but Im currently having trouble implementing the Steam API into my project.
