Red Haze Big July 11th Update OUT NOW!

Alright! Here's the promised update from the last update. This update includes:

 • Endings B, D & X added to the game.
 • Two new monsters with two new death scenes.
 • 25+ new rooms added to the game.
 • 227 new voice lines, including previous endings and quips where Rockette wasn't voiced she now is.
 • 3 new non-ending cutscenes and 2 new "Story Quests" (which make permanent progress points).
 • Few new secrets.
 • Think I've fixed every bug reported to me, though sure new ones will creep up I need to fix.
This completes the "Main Area" of Red Haze! The game is almost finished, just one more update to go to add Ending A and the A-Z Door into the game (and get Starry voiced in Ending Q in the last recording session with Danuta). I wouldn't hold off playing the game just for the next update though, as Ending A and the A-Z Door both are pretty strong "points of no return", separated really from the rest of the game. If you do the "story quest" to unlock the pathway to Ending A right now, it's blockaded for now but will remain unlocked for the next update. I hope y'all are having a wonderful day, I'm releasing this on my birthday actually. And I hope you enjoy the new content in Red Haze!

July 11th (12th in some regions) Red Haze update detailed

Red Haze is getting a big content update on July 11th. This was originally planned to be the final update, but Danuta (the voice of Starry and Mariana) needed more time for life busyness, and honestly this allows me more time to work on the area through the A-Z Door anyway, so this will actually be the second to last update. But it is a pretty sizable one all the same. The July 11th Red Haze update includes:

 • 3 New Endings (Ending B, D, & X)
 • 2 new monsters (along with two new death scenes)
 • One new Dummy variant
 • 27 new rooms
 • 227 new voice lines (previous endings & quips that were non-voiced by Rockette now will be)
 • 3 new non-ending cutscenes
 • Two new "story quests"
 • Several new secrets
 • Bug fixes (think I fixed every bug that's been reported to me, sure new ones will creep up though)
I'm excited for people to experience this update! I hope those who've enjoyed Red Haze will like it. There is one more update planned, I don't want it to be too much later but right now it has to be "TBD" as it partly is based on when Danuta and I can record the rest of the lines. I decided to hold off releasing Ending A since there's quite a bit of dialogue by Danuta in that ending, and rather people experience that with the scene fully voiced rather than Rockette being the only one talking. The final update will hopefully land in August, and include the following: -Ending A -The A-Z Door finally openable -Ending Q will finally have Starry be voiced And then Red Haze will be finished! If thinking of holding off playing until the final update, I actually would say there's no real good reason to wait. Ending A & the A-Z Door both have very "point of no return" elements and content to them that make them a bit separated from the rest of the game. With this update, all of the "main area" of Red Haze is concluded and fully explorable. You can even do the "story quest" to access Ending A right now, but it'll be blockaded until the final update (but stay unlocked for anyone to easily access if they do so now before the final update). Anyways, I'm excited for this upcoming Red Haze update and to very soon finally mark Red Haze as completed. I really hope you enjoy the final batch of Red Haze content! Have a wonderful day!

Red Haze's final major update finally hits on July 11th, 2024

Sorry for the super lengthy delay, but finally after years, Red Haze's final update is releasing on JULY 11TH, 2024. It adds several dozen new rooms, several new endings, new monsters, now story bits, voice acting of previously unvoiced scenes (and new scenes). new secrets & more! The reason for this delay is very complex and can basically be summed up that I had a really rough last few years. But that's in the past now, I'm excited to get the ball rolling again. And starting that off with finishing Red Haze off. The only other thing to mention is with Red Haze coming to a close, I've started development on its sequel game, titled "Static Haze". This game will not be releasing in any capacity until 2026 at the earliest, I have other projects at Yai Gameworks to finish up and new games to release before it, but I also want to give it more time to cook. However, in the meantime as Red Haze comes to a close, please enjoy these sketches of some of the main characters from an artist named Gracen I'm working with on the project.

Thank you so much for your patience with me, I hope you guys enjoy the new content and revelations from the final update to Red Haze, I hope you will look forward to Static Haze in the future.

Fixed a few things from the last patch

Fixed an issue between the disparity difference between people who owned the "Red Haze: Bruises Glimmer in Starlight" expansion for Red Haze & those who didn't, fixed launch issues. Game on Windows should launch fine with Achievements working for all now.

Red Haze Achievements Working Again (on Windows), Various Bug Fixes

Red Haze just had an update, it's not the final update, but an update prepping for that. The update fixes Steam achievements, improves game performance, & fixes a variety of bugs & errors people had reported to me. The final big content update will be in a few months (yes, really), but THIS IS TORTURE TOGETHER will be happening first. That's the first online co-op Yai Gameworks game, can see its store page here: https://store.steampowered.com/app/930880/THIS_IS_TORTURE_TOGETHER/ Have a good day!

Yai Gameworks 2020 Questionnaire Survey

The Yai Gameworks 2020 Questionnaire Survey Form: https://forms.gle/aAHSNATPVih4uDcK7 Out of all the annual Questionnaire forms I've done, this 2020 one is the most important one so far. During 2020 and leading into early 2021, I have a sorta' time limit to get to a certain financial point in order to pursue game development full time. So I'm going to be trying my damndest during the next 15 months or so to get games out there and to increase my audience size, otherwise making games becomes a thing I do in my spare time (not the worst thing in the world, but it would limit what I can do of course). I've been crunching a lot of numbers, working hard this last year and processing possibilities to make this questionnaire form, but there's a lot of questions I want to get some feedback for from people who already are into my games. This form will take 15-40 minutes, I ask you please read the text and descriptions I post rather than just looking at the WIP pictures as I will be taking this feedback seriously. I thank you for your time all the same, it does mean a lot to me.

Dusk Golem's Anthology of Horror releasing on October 30th

https://store.steampowered.com/app/833020/Dusk_Golems_Anthology_of_Horror/ I have a lot going on the hood and trying to get better how I handle announcements and releases, but I can confidently say (unless the game gets held up in Steam's review process) I'll be releasing Dusk Golem's Anthology of Horror on October 30th for $5.99 USD. It is a collection of three playable short horror stories, "Girl's Graveyard Mystery," "I Haunt this Place" and "Wail of Despair. More info on all three of these games' on the game's store page description. You're going to see more frequent releases from me over the next 10 months. I have been working really hard, but also I have a time limit now in either do or die if I can fully rely on this due to some unfortunate circumstances involving my family being in need and myself needing to be able to provide for myself and others. I'm going to put my all into these next 10 months, and try to complete many partial projects and get them out there (and trust me, I have many). These three games were originally planned to be separate releases, but as they're all shorter and had a core theme between the three of them I just thought it made sense to release them together, plus I love anthologies. I'll try to keep you guys posted, but the best ways to keep up with Yai Gameworks news is to either join the official Discord or to follow me on Twitter. I'll link both below. I hope you guys are having a wonderful Halloween October Month, if you haven't already you can check out a Red Haze Halloween Update currently going on through the month over on the Red Haze page, the Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake- update got delayed some again and I apologize for this but some financial burden stuff came up (CYE-AR- is probably my worst performing game right now, but I promise I'll finish it, it does mean something to me), and I also can confirm there will be a small Red Haze update once the Halloween Event is over. Outside of this I'm gunning to release something or another in November (but not clear which project I'll choose yet), and The Miserable Crimson Hooded Girl will release on December 13th this year. Blossoming Yandere will be delayed until early next year. https://discord.gg/yaigameworks https://twitter.com/YaiGameworks

Red Haze Halloween 2019 Event Update NOW LIVE!

Red Haze's Halloween Event is now live! From September 27th to November 5th, you may enter the special Halloween area to play the "Dark Harvest" Halloween event, returning from last year. Collect all the costumes and experience a short story! Alongside the returning event, there is a brand new secret added to Red Haze that is over 100x more likely to be found during this Halloween Event than after it (the secret will still be available after the Halloween Event is over, but it is much, MUCH easier to find during this Halloween Event than after). The Secret also has a new achievement tied to it, and a new unlockable costume which has some special aesthetic effects on the game. Alongside all of this, I managed to fix all bugs reported to me and stumbled on some minor bugs I also fixed. I'm sure there's more bugs to be found, and report them to me, but I fixed a few minor long-standing bugs and oversights. I also optimized a few rooms (most notably the Save Shrine room, which shouldn't take as long to load anymore). Happy Halloween, I hope those who never played the Dark Harvest event enjoy it, people enjoy the new secret and costume, and that y'all are enjoying Red Haze!

Red Haze Third to Final Update OUT NOW... Mostly

So, there's a few crevices here, but for the most the "Third to Final" Update for Red Haze is out now! Restart Steam if you want it to download immediately. There is a few crevices. Rockette will get some voiced lines, but they're not quuite in yet, and that's on me scheduling with Serene last minute. There's some secrets I'll be releasing over the next few days. I'm sure there will be some bugs, which I'll be ironing out as they come in. Still, new areas are available, new secrets, some fixes. Expect some little trinkles of content to hit also tomorrow and the day after, then whenever I get Rockette's new lines, bug fixes, and then the update will be complete. I hope you all enjoy!

Red Haze "Third to Final" hitting August 1st, Price Increase on August 6th

The "Third to Final" Update which adds everything to the game except the Top Floors of the Lighthouse (and the four endings up there), the A-Z Door and unlockable stuff hits on August 1st. Red Haze is currently on a discount matched at the cheapest it's ever been (since the price increase a year and a half ago). Red Haze is going to get its second and final price increase after this update hits to raise to $3.99 USD. The sale going on right now is the cheapest it'll be for some time (you may notice I'm a bit stingy with my discounts and almost never partake in bundles with only one exception over the last four years I've been making games. Though none of my games are that expensive, I do value them properly). I also will mention now that there will be a Halloween Update for Red Haze this October. It'll include the previous "Dark Harvest" Halloween event, plus a new smaller Halloween event alongside it. I hope you guys look forward to it. I mainly just wanted to be transparent that Red Haze is about to receive the final price increase with this update, and it's on sale for the next week before that price increase. I hope you guys enjoy the update, and the game as a whole.

August 1st is the Red Haze "Third to Final" Update

Sorry for the nearly month delay, mixture that July is my birthday month, life stuff, and working on other projects. BUT, Red Haze's update will be hitting August 1st, this is absolute. The update includes: -Two New Endings -Three new areas -Doll Curse fully implemented -Dozens of new random events & secrets added -First Boss Monster to Red Haze added (of three planned) -Lots of new hidden lore -First in-game unlockable added -Some scenes are now easier to skip through and not be as repetitive -Various bug fixes and small improvements made This is the Third to Final Update, I won't put a date on the Second to Final Update and the Final Update yet, but my goal is to try and finish the game before the 3-year anniversary next February. However, if holding off playing it for the final update, you shouldn't. This update makes everything within the game as "complete" as it'll be outside of bug fixes. The "Second to Last" Update will just add the last four endings to the game, and the higher floors of the Lighthouse (where the last four endings are available), so with this update every ending is available outside of Ultimate Goal Stuff. Then the final update will add in the "A-Z" Door area and add a new unlockable mode and some other unlockable things to the game, then it'll be completed! I hope you guys enjoy the update, and sorry for the various delays to this update.

The Miserable Crimson Hooded Girl releases on August 20th

https://store.steampowered.com/app/667270/The_Miserable_Crimson_Hooded_Girl/ The Miserable Crimson Hooded Girl Steam Store Page is now properly up. Those who follow me on YouTube or are part of the official Yai Gameworks Discord may have seen me working some on this and talking about it during the last few weeks. This was previously the Close Your Eyes Intermission/2: Glass Vedalia page, but I decided to give it it's own page later as it's not a focus right now and probably won't be for a while. Those who beat The Twisted Puzzle and got one of the keys at the end of that will own this game on release automatically for partaking in that. Notifying in case you're wondering why you already have this game wishlisted/already own it. Sans any major tragedies in my life or Valve making the review process take too long, I'm gunning for that August 20th release date. The game will cost $2.99 USD, I'll post more details about the game in the upcoming week on the Yai Gameworks Discord and Twitter, which you can find links for both below: https://discord.gg/yaigameworks https://twitter.com/YaiGameworks

June 23rd is the date for the Red Haze, Close Your Eyes Found Horror Game 11.exe Updates

Okay, I can finally announce this to everyone . On June 23rd, the following will release: -Red Haze update is added which adds several dozen new hidden events, four new areas, two new endings. -Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake- Judith Manor Update. -Found Horror Game 11.exe Game 5 "The Pure Field", and Game 6 is ready as well whenever Game 5 is completed with Game 7 pretty far along. I waited to announce this until all of them were ready, but I can announce this now finally I am confident, all three will release then. Other stuff will be a bit further out, but I hope you all look forward to these three updates. ALSO, while you're all here, while I won't spoil what it is, there's another game that releases this week which also has my involvement in it, and one of my characters. I promised to keep it a surprise, but it's out there somewhere, it is a horror thing. To see if anyone stumbles upon it here.

Red Haze - April Update Contents

There will be an update to Red Haze sometime in April very soon, it's almost done but I thought I'd post the notes ahead of time to give people an idea of what to expect. The update will contain as follows: New Content: -Two new endings -8 new areas (some bigger than others) -Burial Sites are now active, though doing them now won't be important until the next update. -Cursed Doll fully implemented. -More events in the beginning area with the Hobo Hole and such. Fixes: -Light Lag fixed in the Red Light and Hammer Puzzle rooms. -Several small bugs and typos fixed. -Teal Key now appears when you pick it up. -Finally took down the Halloween Update Title Screen thing, I forgot to do that last update. -Made Ending Y easier to get than it was previously. --- The Big Update should also be coming in the Summer, I won't date it yet as y'know, but I got things worked out with the voice actors, I got some additional music stuff worked out, and I found my muse for this game again so I think I can deliver the long-standing ending I've had in my head. There should be two more updates after this one, one to make the whole main game area completely playable after this one, and then a final update for what's behind the A-Z Door. Hope you guys enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C2G6INXZYLA

Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake- OUT NOW!!

https://store.steampowered.com/app/706710/Close_Your_Eyes_Anniversary_Remake/ Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake- is now out in Steam Early Access for $4.99 USD with a 10% launch discount (this will be the cheapest the game will be in at the very least the next two years, the game will gradually raise in price as more is added to the game). At Early Access launch, I am actively seeking back feedback and going to work closely with the community to shape up the game. At Early Access launch, the full 'Girl's Graveyard' remake is included, with 1-2 hours of gameplay. The 'Close Your Eyes' remake first hour or so is playable, up until the Judith Manor section of the game. 'Close Your Eyes - The Twisted Puzzle' is included, unlocked after 10 achievements in-game are completed, and has a few puzzle solution changes, a few new hidden things, and should give people a varying amount of gameplay time (depending how good they are at the puzzles). I hope you guys enjoy, up until the Close Your Eyes Remake is completed, there will be fairly regular updates. You can play up to the current cut-off point and load your save file when new updates hit to continue where you left off. I look forward to communicating with everyone over the course of development, and hope you all enjoy the game!

Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake- releasing on November 26th

https://store.steampowered.com/app/706710/Close_Your_Eyes_Anniversary_Remake/ I'm trying to schedule out some stuff right now after some unexpected life bumps like the passing of my best friend and a family situation, and not announcing anything else yet as it's not ready enough to put an exact date on (Game 3 of FHG11.exe, Red Haze update, Arctic Haze, etc.), but there's something I can put a date on right now. Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake- will be releasing on Steam on November 26th in Early Access for $4.99 USD (with a 5% launch discount and a further 5% off with the Yai Gameworks Complete Bundle). The Early Access form will on release include: -The complete remake of Close Your Eyes, with brand new areas, scenes, characters, reimagined segments, and more surprises with a total of 10 endings to obtain. -The complete remake of Girl's Graveyard, the precursor to CYE which also features some new scenes, story beats, and details. -The Twisted Puzzle expansion, it's identical to the DLC from the original game with one addition I won't spoil, but it is included on launch. The game is gunning to release out of Early Access on April 29th, 2019, though more modes will be added over time, I'll be taking player feedback and asking direct questions to Early Access players for development, and the price will increase a couple times before release as more is added. What will be added in the coming months, with an update every month or two, is the "Close Your Eyes: Anniversary Mode", "Girl's Graveyard Hard Mode", the brand new scenario, "Close Your Eyes - Beneath the Surface", two miniature side modes in "Close Your Eyes: Hushed Hour" and "Close Your Eyes: A Ghastly Tale", and a fully explorable hub area between game modes known as The Annex. I can 100% guarantee unless my house gets destroyed by fire or something, it'll be releasing on November 26th. Hope to surprise you guys with it.

Arctic Haze, sequel to Red Haze, is in the works

Red Haze's final big update I hope to release before the end of the year once have worked out some things, but have started active work on "Arctic Haze", the sequel to Red Haze. The above are 4/6 of the main characters and one of several dozen monsters to appear within the game. Arctic Haze stars Lumi, who after the recent suicide of one of her closest friends and growing stresses in the busy life of the city, has moved in with her ailing grandmother on a remote lakeside island. However, in the middle of summer a sudden freak snowstorm spurs, and with it strange monsters begin to crawl out of the cold. Unprepared for this, the grandmother's health takes a toll and she needs desperate medical attention, but can Lumi find it for her while a surreal horror that begins to ensnare the island? Can Lumi save her grandmother, and survive the harsh and horrific climate? Of course, there's more to all of this than there may at first seem... The Steam Store Page for Arctic Haze I hope to get up in early November, and I plan to take 'Red Haze's alpha phase' route I did (that lasted for about a year) and spin that into an Early Access build rather than closed alpha/beta. I hope to release Arctic Haze in Early Access in late November or anytime December, then work to release two big updates to the game a month for the next several months and reward early buyers with a few free goodies and over time and updates slowly increasing the price of the game. I want to be clear with my strategy there even ahead of time. There is a LOT more to this game I'm super excited to share, the coding for plug-ins and features is already done, the OST is complete (and composed of 161 songs and over three hours of music), a lot of the design is going super well, but there's so much more to this project that I want to hold off on sharing for now. I'll keep you guys posted, but thought I should give some early word and teases to those following Red Haze's new feed. Hope you guys look forward to both the final big content update to Red Haze, and the upcoming Early Access release of Arctic Haze.

Red Haze's Halloween Event has started! It's a short 30-60 minute area only available during September 30th to November 5th. There's also a few unlockables you can obtain during the event (and only during the event) that you can keep permanently in the game if you obtain them in time (they'll last after the event is over). I hope guys have a happy Halloween, and enjoy this little content update! The game also will be on sale for 10% off between September 30th to October 14th for 10% off, then on sale again for 10% off between October 29th and November 1st. The game will be 10% off again during the Steam Winter Sale, so no further discounts for a while. Again, Happy Halloween!

Yai Gameworks: First Five Years Album released

I've released a 320-song Album for music from all of my games over the last 5-years. The full album of 320 songs is available there in the link above if you click it, music from my last 5 years of game making. Can listen to it freely, though I do highly appreciate support if you decide to buy the whole album for $8 USD (or can buy individual songs for $0.50 USD). This album is a collection of the entire original soundtrack for the games I released during my first five years of making games (between 2013 - 2018). It includes the original and able-to-distribute music for Blank Slate (original Ludum Dare version), Girl's Graveyard, Close Your Eyes [Original Version], Take the Dream IX, Red Haze, Cootie Patootie [Original Version], Close Me, Please Love My Computer Game, Found Horror Game 11.exe, and Dusk Golem's Red Haze of Horror 3D, as well as some scrapped songs. This does not include outside tracks as that would've needed me to re-license everything again, and decided to keep this to the original songs by myself (and a few by friends I have been given complete permission for free reign over). All come in .mp3 format. I hope to keep surprising with all that I do. The money earned from this is going right back into future projects.

Viola~ Red Haze Ver 1.9 is here, New Ending, Lag Fix, Windows 10 Fix, and MORE!

This is not the big update, that's coming next, but released this update to fix up a LOT about the game. Updated nw.js, which means this game should now run a whole lot better on Windows 10. I found the reason for all the lag in rooms like the Stairs after meeting Starry, the Parking Lot, the Freezer, etc., and have fixed! Lag should be a lot, LOT better now, and as much as I possibly can fix I believe. I also added a few new rooms to the game, fixed a few minor bugs, and added a new Ending, which means the available endings are up to 20 now! Also fixed the issue of saying an older version of whatever when launching. Full list of changes: -Lag should be as eliminated as it can be, no more super stuttering in the Freezer, Parking Lot, stairs after meeting Starry, etc. -Should run a LOT better on Windows 10 now as well. -A few new rooms accessible. -A new ending added to the game. -Fixed the issue where you'd enter the Freezer and Rockette would be clothed but acting like she's naked. -Fixed a few minor footstep and misc bugs. -Added a transparent effect to the Well and Teru Teru Bozu rooms. -Added some pink bunny plaques here and there. -Updated nw.js so it stops asking for you to update it. Also should work a BIT better with Steam Big Picture Mode than it did previously. This has mostly been a patch to fix two long standing issues with the game, lag and Windows 10 support (I wish to hear some people on the latter as I can confirm the Lag is as fixed as it can be, but Windows 10 support I need some outside input), but hope you guys enjoy the few new touches, new rooms, and new ending! Big Content Update will be next September/October, and then the game will be complete outside of any bug fixes in version 2.0.

Here's Yai Gameworks Release Plans for the next 4 Months (July - November 2018)

I have been working so hard to be able to pull this off, but finally I think I can fully announce the line-up of games that Yai Gameworks will be releasing between the end of July and the end of November 2018. I have been working really hard since the year began, juggling a lot of projects, and there's still more to finish and juggle after this, but finally far enough along to announce this properly. Here's what Yai Gameworks will be releasing over the next few months: --- https://store.steampowered.com/app/727720/Found_Horror_Game_11exe/ "Found Horror Game 11.exe" will be releasing between July 27th to August 6th for $3.99 USD. Follow the story of Ina, a gas station attendant, in an episodic horror game where the community must work a bit together to unlock the next sequence of the game. --- https://store.steampowered.com/app/680300/PeeTee_Babybuu/ "PeeTee Babybuu" will release between August 27th and September 4th for $2.99 USD (with the Soundtrack and Art collection available for an additional $1.99 via DLC). --- https://store.steampowered.com/app/428860/Red_Haze/ "Red Haze" will have it's big content update between September 28th to October 12th as a free update to the game (but shortly the price of Red Haze will go up to $2.99 USD). The Store Page is not live yet, but at this time there will also release a new spin-off Red Haze game known as, "Dusk Golem's Red Haze of Horror 3D", which will cost $2.99 USD as well, though those that posted in the Red Haze Steam topic before this announcement was posted and followed the instructions will get a key for the game early. --- There is not a Steam Page for it yet, but between September to October Rincs and I will be releasing a short horror game we both made involving a bag store. More details to come, this one is working on a strict time table and will be releasing not too long after the store page goes up. --- There is no Store Page yet, but in releasing on October 30th, 2018 for free will be "Horror Game Anthology", a horror game anthology with short horror games made by different indie horror game developers. I'm holding and compiling the anthology, and it won't be releasing under Yai Gameworks collection due to being an effort of several indie horror game devs I just so happen to be hosting, but I will post the Store Page when that goes live. --- https://store.steampowered.com/app/706710/Close_Your_Eyes_Anniversary_Remake/ Between November 26th - December 3rd, we'll be releasing in, Early Access "Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake-" for $4.99 USD. The Early Access Remake on release will include the full remake for Close Your Eyes, the full remake for Girl's Graveyard, it will include Close Your Eyes: The Twisted Puzzle, and it will include a new scenario known as, "Close Your Eyes: Hushed Hour". The remakes include a lot of new content and various scenes upgraded to be better than ever. --- Beyond that is an enigma for now. As long as I don't have serious health or livelihood issues or anything of the like, this WILL be concrete. I had chosen from past mishaps and bad judgement to hold off revealing these dates until they were near certain, other projects are not certain right now so will see them down the line. I hope you guys enjoy the sorta' rapid 1-month apart releases I'll be doing over the next few months!

Red Haze SECRET SURPRISE if owned+post before July 8th

There is some very strange Red Haze news I have to share with you guys after the Steam Summer Sale. Red Haze during the Summer Sale will be at the cheapest price it'll be for some time, but after the sale the 'normal' game price will raise from $1.99 to $2.99 USD, so pick it up then if you haven't already for the cheapest the game will be for literally years to come. But that's not the news I have to share. Red Haze's update is both sooner and further than some of you guys may expect, but there's something.... Weird I don't want to say yet, but I hope to sorta' vaguely tell you guys now. IF YOU OWN RED HAZE BEFORE JULY 8TH, post here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/428860/discussions/0/1698300679768140690/ On July 26th, if you follow the instructions listed in that topic, you will receive a special prize. I want to give something to owners of Red Haze before the upcoming big update, and unfortunately without a great way to actually do this outside of manually doing this, this is the method I've chosen. I have a surprise for everyone coming soon, and a secret surprise for all people who own Red Haze and post there (following the steps) before July 8th. Happy trails, everyone~

Lag Fixes, April Fools Joke Version Over, and Some Notes

Okay! So I've done something that will hopefully fix all the lag issues in Red Haze. Should see all around a GREAT performance boost in the game. I won't promise it's 100% fixed, but all rooms should be performing quite a bit better with most people, and there should be zero lag for those with half-way decent computers. This took longer than I hoped since the fix was kind of a dumb thing with the game's files that risked corrupting save files, so I had been troubleshooting how to do this without corrupting save files and I think I've done it! I did put a one-time save file message that'll pop up once about moving save files if you don't have your save file, but I think most everyone should have their save files still accessible. The one downside to this method is for some users who've played other games that use nw.js, you may get a message about how it can't access your profile. This occurs as nw.js detects this is an older version of nw.js, but I need to use an older version currently until Greenworks updates to allow people to take Steam Screenshots, but hopefully will be fixed in the next few months (I need to wait for Greenworks to update, and hope it does before the Big Update is finally done). Now this also I think may inadvertently fix the issue of people crashing with the "Chess" Dummy enemy and Big Picture Mode overlay issues, but I cannot confirm this and it's more hoping on my part due to the changes made. Outside of that, April Fools Joke Edition of Red Haze is now over, the game is back to normal. However, a few updates including some bug fixes, a few new rooms and areas, and a few new secrets are still included without the joke elements. Hope to keep Red Haze update love rolling very soon, but won't promise any dates yet since I'm sure many of you have noticed I've been multi-tasking a lot of projects. But I want to finish Red Haze's chapter soon, so here's hoping.

Red Haze - April UPDATE

Updated Red Haze. Lag problems should be MUCH better, but not completely fixed. Few new rooms, no new endings. Some other surprises... This isn't the "BIG" update, but I hope you guys enjoy it. BIG update is May/June right now. (you might get a message of a newer nsjw version being better, but this will be fixed very soon.)

Yai Gameworks upcoming game release plans and news

I thank you all who participated in the Yai Gameworks 2018 Questionnaire survey a couple months back. As many are probably aware of I am a man of many ideas, and indeed probably too many. I release 2-3 games a year but dates get pushed back, some are left idling for months to years before they eventually release. I won’t promise this won’t change, but as a solid effort applying some strategies I’ve learned within the last few months and a plight to achieve one of my dream games, Complete Isolation, I will explain a crazy thing I’m about to try and apply myself to do, then the reasoning, and finally the specifics. Between February of 2018 to April of 2019 I want to release 12 video games onto Steam. Now there’s a few reasons I have chosen to attempt this honestly foolish errand, especially foolish for me. I originally had set my sights to work on a dream project I’ve had in my head for many years, my first actual big project titled, “Complete Isolation.” I held a funding campaign for this game back in 2013 on Indiegogo, who’s funding has been used for all my projects to produce the music you all hear in my games. Still, here we are five years later and CI still does not exist. I want to make it, I desperately do, and I originally had planned to commit myself to it this year. That was until all my analysis, self-reflection, crunching, talking with others, and reason pointed me to pursuing another goal first, to do something else foolish first so that CI would be a less foolish endeavor and a safer bet. You see, Complete Isolation is planned as an episodic gameplay experience. Episodic releases work best on a timed release manner; being timely with episodes is important. That means having a good groundwork you can easily build off of, self-discipline, a solid plan and commitment, and short development cycles. These are all things I need to master, and trying to wrangle that first-hand on an episodic game would be setting many up for disappointment of delays when I inevitability failed to deliver on time. I need to practice this first, but in a form that isn’t both as anti-consumer and as financially risky as a longer term episodic game. Climb a hill before a mountain kinda’ thing. Add to this CI needs to look the part, it has a bigger investment, bigger cost, and as I’d be tackling a large chunk of the game myself from coding to design to music and writing and voice directing I’d need someone to do the art, a pretty sizable amount of drawn art and sprite work as well. But the needed art amount is hefty, and I’m not in a financial position to offer a decent payment upfront. Rincs, my partner in crime on projects who’s done the drawn art on my projects, hasn’t seen a cent from Yai Gameworks sales and I feel awful about it. I need her for a longer term but don’t want to run her ragged, and need to pay her properly for her work. I should save up and split profits, but even that is a huge uncertainty. I need to secure more income, and allow her more time to do art for the project between her busy life. Add to all of this having Yai Gameworks name out there and more experience under our belt can only be a good thing. I decided to propose a challenge to myself, a series of experimental games on a planned and tight schedule. This is a way to work myself to a position where I can hopefully form the experience and conviction needed to do an episodic structure, all while getting more games and experiences under my belt. All while hopefully earning some money and making some more things available to all of you guys I hope that y’all enjoy. It may even work out to be a good way to market it as the steps up to try and achieve Complete Isolation. There’s more to all of this. But I plan to in the upcoming week make a video detailing it all a little further. This plan isn’t just to make more games however, it’s to make an over-a-year plan and stick to it. The first game of this challenge is already released, it can be found as Please Love My Computer Game on Steam. However, I will now detail the rest of the plan to you all. I cannot guarantee I will be able to meet and achieve what I hope to, but I can tell you I’m going to be working hard to achieve my own dreams which I view this as a crucial step towards. So if things pan out, what can you all expect? APRIL 2018: -”The Crack I Found That Taketh” A nearly dialogue-less 3D exploration and discovery experimental game about a crack in the floor. MAY 2018: -”Red Haze” big content update The big content update for Red Haze hits, including all endings, new areas, new story, new secrets, lag fixes, more scene skips, and more. JUNE 2018: -”Unlabeled” An 8-bit game inspired by Hellnight and Nanashi no Game about an NPC in a small RPG village that one day gains sentience, and begins to be stalked by an ever-evolving monstrosity. Partner up with other people in the village that can permanently die at anytime, leading you down different storyline paths. JULY 2018 -”Hellscape” You are a Demigod on a dying world abandoned by the True Gods. Walk among men and explore the hellscape left behind, meeting devotees, non-believers, deformed and withering beings who may love or hate you. You may guide them to nurish a future, or trample them into oblivion. What gift may you give a disgusting world with no hope? AUGUST 2018 -”The Killing Kink Nunster” A B-Horror Comedy game about a group of college kids who all are a bit messed up and kinky getting trapped in a cathedral with the monstrous nun known as the Killing Kink Nunster, who wishes to eradicate their sin and pay their dues with their blood. It’s a lot weirder and even more twisted than you think. -”Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake” A remake of Close Your Eyes with new content, a new scenario, a remake of Girl’s Graveyard, new modes, a new open world connecting world, and a lot of surprises to prep for the eventual sequel. SEPTEMBER 2018: -”Cootie Patootie” A reimagining of a previous game I made for Ludum Dare. Join Cootie Patrootie as she goes on a magical journey of self-discovery to find love! OCTOBER 2018 -”RODE: Remorse Observation Dream Emulation” For the 20th anniversary of the cult gem, LSD: Dream Emulator, have this 3D first-person love letter to it. NOVEMBER 2018: -”Box Pusher” A nice relaxing little puzzle game about pushing boxes. It might seem a little off, but that’s probably nothing. JANUARY 2019: -”The Seafaring Incident” You’re on a seven day cruise in the Pacific, but something is very wrong. Over the course of 7 days you’ll need to investigate these mysterious circumstances and work out how to keep your head above water. FEBRUARY 2019: -”The Silhouette of the Alluring Rose” A more normalized RPG Maker-esque dark fantasy puzzle horror starring a frilly girl… IN 3D! April 2019: -”(untitled at this time)” An experimental little MMO experience in a Yume Nikki-esque exploration game. Regardless, this will be a busy year, and I hope to surprise you all throughout the year. The easiest way to keep up with Yai Gameworks news, socialize, little surprises, and collaborate is to join the official Yai Gameworks discord, which you may find here: https://discord.gg/EVwaARY

Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake- Early Access releasing on January 24th for $4.99

http://store.steampowered.com/app/706710/Close_Your_Eyes_Anniversary_Remake/ Thanks to the wonderful feedback on the Yai Gameworks 2018 Questionnaire and some wonderful occurrences that happened towards the end of 2017, I'm here to announce a finalized date for the release of the early access for Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake-. The early access version of the game will release on January 24th, 2017 for the price of $4.99, though with a 5% discount for the first week of launch (and an additional 5% off for 10% total if you buy through the Yai Gameworks Complete Bundle). The Early Access includes the full remakes of Close Your Eyes and Girl's Graveyard within them at launch, fully completed and playable from start to finish for all possible endings and secrets. Over the course of the months afterward will work on the other game modes, the new scenario "Close Your Eyes - Beneath the Surface", "Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Mode-", and "Girl's Graveyard: Challenge Mode". The price will raise by a bit right before the game leaves Early Access, but I will announce when that is ahead of time. I am aiming for August 31st as the release out of Early Access, but to prepare for potential delays the latest may be September 28th. If you're curious about the Red Haze content update, it will release before the end of April 2018 I promise. Found Horror Game 11.exe also will definitely release sometime before CYE -AR- comes out of Early Access. Hope this transparency helps, I know I juggle things a lot but all of these things will be completed by the dates I have just mentioned. Happy 2018 everyone, I hope to surprise you a lot with Yai Gameworks productions throughout the year!

Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake- releasing on April 27th, 2018

http://store.steampowered.com/app/706710/Close_Your_Eyes_Anniversary_Remake/ Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake- will be releasing on April 27th, 2018, which is the 4-year anniversary of the original Close Your Eyes releasing for Ludum Dare, and the 3-year anniversary of the original Redux version. The remake includes 5 scenarios, including a remade Close Your Eyes and Girl's Graveyard which polishes the game further, adds new areas, new threats, new story, and new surprises to both. It also includes an 'Anniversary Twist' on both in a new scenario, and a complete brand new scenario known as 'Beneath the Surface', as well as a hub with secrets that connects all five scenarios together. The remake will release for $4.99 USD, and I hope it surprises a lot of you. I'll have more information early next year, but a few blurbs I can share is the Remake between all of its scenarios should be 7-16 hour experience, there is around 30 new pieces of artwork for new story scenes done by Rincs for the title, there's 100 Steam Achievements (and most of them I tried to make interesting to get), and some segments of the original game have also been greatly redone and changed (two examples I can give, the Judith Manor Key Collecting section has been entirely redone in a new (and in my opinion, much better) way, as well as a completely new path if you choose to leave the manor, and similarly there's a new path instead of doing the train puzzle in the early parts of CYE, but the train puzzle path has a lot new to it as well). Hope you all look forward to it!

Big Update-Update, and Pricing News

Been busy working on the Red Haze update and one other project, so I thought I should give an update on both as Halloween has passed. The update is delayed a little bit, I was debating whether to release it in chunks or all at once. I've redesigned a lot of the eventing to help with the lag issue, fixed a few bugs and typos I know about, and am finished with adding new secrets in previous rooms. I could release that right now, but I've decided to hold off a bit as I want to do an 'all at once' release I think. And as I've been working, I've been expanding some of my ideas and the updates gotten a little bigger. The original plans I had for the Lighthouse are done, but I added a few more rooms and a new far more dramatic finale for the Lighthouse path I hope you'll all enjoy, but isn't quite done yet. There's also a new area which kind of increased in scale, and as I've been increasing the areas and the story a bit I also realized I need to get back into contact with Serene Harper, the voice actress of Rockette, for some new lines (as it'd be weird if some of these scenes weren't voiced when so much of the game already is). As the game's scope has increased, and I'm starting to realize Red Haze without exaggeration is going to be a 15-30 hour long game if you're going for all the endings/secrets and such, I have decided I'm going to increase the game's price at the end of the year from $1.99 USD to $2.99 USD. I thought I should announce this ahead of time, and the change will not happen until early next year after the Autumn and Winter Steam Sales. Red Haze will be available during both sales for $1.75 USD (12% off), but after those sales the overall base price will go up to $2.99 USD partially to reflect the boost of content within the game. I hope the game will be worth it. I'm learning I should stop putting dates on things, what usually happens is I have a bad tendency to both get distracted/caught up with life things, and then while I'm being very productive I start getting ideas and being the type of person I am I decide to implement those ideas as well rather than just sticking with what I originally had planned in scope. I think accepting and dealing with this part of myself is crucial, and at least having done several games in the last couple years I'm becoming more aware of how I work. I have a bad tendency to delay things if I date them, so I might just take the stance it will be done when it's done, and even still I end up releasing a few games every year. This will not change next year either, I have several projects in partial completion stages that will probably see the light of day next year, and for this year my goal is to finish the Red Haze update and release one more project of mine before the year is up. To decide which one I'll be asking the official Yai Gameworks Discord, which if you're interested to join that you can find a pinned topic for it in the Close Your Eyes: Intermission Steam Discussion Board. Depending how strong work ends up being, how I balance it with my other project decided to finish this year, and how much I decide to expand and get done, the Red Haze Update could be finished anywhere from this week to early December. The truth is if I focused solely on it and kept to my original plan it could be done as early as tomorrow, but I want to expand it and I think it'll be a better update that will hopefully blow fans of the game away if I put in the extra work and content. I do thank you guys for sticking with me even if I'm absolutely terrible at dating things and getting things done on the time I say I will get them done, I'm going to try to improve on promising dates in the future because I've realized I'm terrible at it. If you have any questions, feel free to ask in this comments updates and I'll try to answer while I'm focused on this update for the next week or a few (whichever it ends up being). Thank you for you time, and hope you all had a happy Halloween!

Red Haze BIG Halloween Update

Red Haze will finally be getting it's BIG content update this Halloween! Now to achieve this, I am delaying Found Horror Game 11.exe and Close Your Eyes Anniversary Remake a bit to release at the end of this year or early next year, but I asked the Yai Gameworks Official Discord which one they'd rather have come out first, and I'll focus on getting the big Red Haze Update out by this Halloween. The BIG Halloween Update will include the following: -Endings A-Z will now be fully available. -The full Lighthouse will be fully accessible. -A new location as well will now be opened up. -There will be new secrets in previous rooms. -Several bug fixes. -The lag issue may not be 100% better, but lag should be GREATLY reduced. One thing that may or may not be in depending on how things roll out is if the "A-Z Door" will be included in this update or not. We shall see. Red Haze also will be 12% off during the Halloween Sale, and it will not be cheaper for the rest of the year. I hope you guys look forward to it!

Close Your Eyes -Anniversary Remake- releasing September 25th - 26th!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/706710/Close_Your_Eyes_Anniversary_Remake/ Today, August 31st of 2017, is the freeware Steam release of Close Your Eyes! The Redux version and original Ludum Dare versions are older than that (the Ludum Dare game turns 4-years old next April), but for the occasion I decided to push a full remake to release between September 25th - 29th, which will cost $4.99 USD. The Remake has a plethora of new content, including new areas, threats, endings, and a new look, as well as support for Mac,in the original Close Your Eyes Mode, as well as four other modes (a remake of Girl's Graveyard, a brand new scenario named Close Your Eyes - Beneath the Surface, and new remixed modes for Close Your Eyes and Girl's Graveyard with extended story known as Close Your Eyes Anniversary Mode and Girl's Graveyard Challenge Mode). There's also a new hub world known as the Annex, where you may unlock goodies, select which game mode to play, and hides its own plethora of secrets... Much more of that to come in the future, but along with this upcoming anniversary remake I made a little silly compilation video of one of the lines of dialogue in the game I made just to hear people say it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vMTvdoIfKl4 Happy 2-years, Close Your Eyes Redux Final Expansion! And I hope you guy's look forward to the Anniversary Remake, much more information on the Store Page (and I'll update it with more screens and gameplay as we get closer to release.

Close Your Eyes: Intermission - First couple minutes of gameplay

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lSi1ts90Cx0 Want to keep most of the game a surprise, but figured the Greenlight page could do with a bit more gameplay. Can find the Greenlight page here to help vote for it to be on Steam: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=912371754 Despite these first couple minutes being a bit slow and barren (and I want to keep the rest a surprise), I hope it gives at least a bit of the idea of the atmospheric direction. Releasing it next month (May) if it gets Greenlit in time for $0.99, the idea behind this game is it takes place after the original game but before Close Your Eyes 2 (and indeed, this is not CYE2), it sort of blends the original CYE style with some more akin to an ARG/Creepypasta (more on that in the game itself), and a new flavor. This beginning sequence is both kind of a tutorial to some basic concepts of the game, but also a detractor to get those this might not be aimed at to go to something else or get a refund or something as the game is a bit of a doozy and this is probably the least interesting part of the game, but the easiest. Won't say much more than that, but should be interesting how it goes down.

Close Your Eyes: Intermission Steam Greenlight Page now LIVE!

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=912371754 It's a bit of a sloppy set-up for now, but I mainly want to get it through Greenlight while keeping as much of it secret as possible. Close Your Eyes: Intermission is a spin-off sequel to CYE, continuing the story but I will clarify IS NOT Close Your Eyes 2. Follow Marshmallow Monk into a nightmare land in a game that combines elements of the original CYE, an ARG, a Creepypasta, and a new flavor. I hope you guys enjoy, if it gets Greenlit in time it'll release in less than a month (during May) for $0.99. Appreciate those who look at the page and consider voting! Thank you for your time.

Close Your Eyes game releasing next month ; Greenlight Page tomorrow

So just wanted to inform ahead of time, there's a Close Your Eyes related game I will be releasing next month (May) that will be posted on Steam Greenlight tomorrow. There's several other projects I'll be posting on Greenlight (hopefully) in May as well, but this one is going ahead of those titles and one I've kept a bit of a surprise. "Close Your Eyes: Intermission" is not Close Your Eyes 2, but not completely separated from it. It'll cost $0.99, and again release in less than a month from now. I'll post when it's Greenlight Page is up tomorrow, but hope you guys look forward to it!

Patch 1.4.5 out now

Hey, so letting you all know firstly Red Haze development isn't dead. What I've been doing is with Steam Direct on the horizon I've been working myself rigid to get several projects to a presentable enough state to post them all on Steam Greenlight on April 28th. Last year I worked on several different projects in several different engines as I did engine research, so I just have been working on these projects to see if I can get them Greenlit before Direct comes around as I'm rather on the poor side financially. Also prepping a Kickstarter to help fund future Steam Direct fees with one of the upcoming projects, Noiseless Signal, who's Kickstarter and a demo for this game will release in May.
As a result, Red Haze's two big content update patches have been delayed until May likely, but I have been working on it as I'm a hopeless busybody. I was going to wait to release this update once the Lighthouse update was finished, but decided it was a good time to release this patch as an in-between. This patch is focused on performance and bug fixing, there's no new content in it... ...Almost. This update does add a Linux version for Red Haze, MV added the support, but I haven't had a proper chance to test it so if any Linux users could tell me how it performs/functions, I'd be thankful. For the rest of y'all, I've updated several rooms to hopefully improve their performance and have responded to several bugs reported in the Bugs/Typo topic. If bugs still remain, please let me know as I haven't had a good chance to test everything. Thanks for your time and patience on these two big updates, and know I'll be posting like, 3-7 projects on Greenlight on the 28th, most won't release super soon but want to get them through Greenlight now while I have the chance.

COMMUNITY GAME PROJECT - Home Invasion Horror with Volunteer Collaboration

Hey guys, I am updating Red Haze and getting started on development of Noiseless Signal for a Kickstarter in over a month from now, but I like to juggle multiple projects at once and chip away at each of them and a lot of people volunteered to help with game development, and I thought it might be fun to try something in a community project. See if that works out or crashes and burns. Anyway, I was planning to make a Home Invasion Horror Game in-between other stuff this year anyways, and thought it might be fun to turn that into a community project with volunteer work I can put together for a game titled, "HYSTERICO: Cryptic Grounds." More information in this link, though right now doing some base conceptualization. Some may only pop in for that, but I'd appreciate those who are interested who might help out a little. Topic which will be the central hub for this projects discussion/development until it (hopefully) gets its own Steam Page here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/428860/discussions/0/135509472110960447/

Patch 1.4 out now!

Firstly, if you haven't already, I recommend you read my previous news post about future plans: http://steamcommunity.com/games/428860/announcements/detail/681570579437612491 Now, just released Patch 1.4. I also released Patch 1.3 within the last few days, but wanted to post 1.4 before I posted the proper notes. A lot has been done, but to give an idea of the most important bits: -Trafficking Dungeon is now completed. -Custodian II (or how I like to call him,
Lobstodian
, has its initial hooks in, though more to come when the Lighthouse is unlocked. -A lot of bugs fixed, like a lot. FOR THOSE WHO HAD ISSUE WITH FONT LOADING, TELL ME IF IT WORKS NOW!! -Some more hidden scenes done. --- Next focus for Red Haze will be to complete the Lighthouse and add more hidden scenes. It may come a bit slower than expected due to the decision to also start development on Noiseless Signal, but will try to juggle a bit.

Noiseless Signal, Future Updates to Red Haze, Yai Gameworks Updates

WARNING: Post may be a bit long Hey everyone, this is Dusk Golem aka AestheticGamer, or you can just call me Ryan. In the act of transparency, I thought I'd talk about future plans for the next year or so for Yai Gameworks. Firstly, I'll tackle Red Haze updates as this can be kept a bit brief. I'll continue working on updates for Red Haze quite frequently for the next few weeks as I fix things people find, finish the Trafficking Dungeon and add in the Lighthouse Upper Floors and Final Door Area when you get all 26 endings. You'll see updates pretty regularly, might have noticed some have already hit recently, and the Trafficking Dungeon will be finished within the next couple days. If you find any bugs or typos, please post them in this thread (any ideas or discussion can be had in the discussion forum): http://steamcommunity.com/app/428860/discussions/0/135508833655990580/ Now, something I have to be honest about is I'm poor as dirt. I love making games, but in some ways I wish I was more talented. I can sort of do art and program, but if I'll be honest my skills are limited in those areas (I have been practicing and improving), and so I often struggle with the idea already if I can pursue my passions, if I have the right to, those kind of things. But I believe a life worth living is a life chasing dreams, so that's what I'm going to do until I can't no more. Red Haze I already knew wasn't going to change my money problems. At the time of writing, the earnings from Red Haze are almost enough to pay off half of my medical expenses from an emergency room visit I made last July. In about a month or so, I'm going to launch a Kickstarter for a project named Noiseless Signal. You may have noticed its name among others in the credits for Red Haze. The reason for the Kickstarter is mostly to pay for the future of Yai Gameworks, so while the Kickstarter is for Noiseless Signal it's more specifically for funding the next year of game development for me, Rincs, and other people who help out in small ways on my projects. I also hope you guys find Noiseless Signal interesting, I'm just now starting real development, so it'll be rapid development between other things to get a demonstration of what that project has in store. The reason for this rush is due to the recent Steam Direct announcement. If you haven't heard, Valve will be replacing its Steam Greenlight system with a new system where users can just post their games to Steam once approved as a developer, but the added thing is that each game will have a fee which is undecided right now (Valve says a fee for submitting a game could end up being anywhere between $100-5000 USD). The reason given is to stop shovelware, but there's a big issue with this for me as someone who is poor as dirt and how I make games. I don't have money, I certainly don't try to make shovelware and instead make game experiences I hope people will enjoy and I work on multiple things at once and try to make shorter but worthwhile experiences I release a bit more rapidly than the average indie developer but at a cheaper price point (as well as I like to release free things every once in a while)... Basically, this system is extremely threatening to me, but I'm going to try to approach and work through it. But before that gets implemented, I want to get one more game through Steam Greenlight in Noiseless Signal, to make one less title I don't have to make a fee for. More so, I think you guys may like Noiseless Signal a lot once you learn more about it, it's goal is to have a dream-like desolate atmosphere. I'll have a lot more on it soon (obviously if I'm having a Kickstarter/Greenlight thing in a month), but also want to use it as an opportunity to secure other games coming to Steam through the fee and allow me to work on them, like Close Your Eyes 2 and the remake of Blank Slate. Back in 2013, I did a crowdfunding thing on Indiegogo for a game named Complete Isolation that raised a little over $2000. That hasn't released yet, and I've been releasing every game I've made since then to the people who helped fund that until I release the game, but I want Complete Isolation to be something special. The money earned from that was 100% for music for Complete Isolation, but since then I've been using the funds from that to make the music I've made in all my projects so far. I thought I should mention this as while the funding campaign will be going through Kickstarter, four years ago I did do a crowdfunding thing for a game that hasn't released yet, but the reasoning isn't because the game was abandoned, it helped fund the tools, samples, and ability for me to do music for my projects in every project since then and Complete Isolation I want to practice to have the skill to fully make one day. This campaign in comparision is for Noiseless Signal (a game that will be releasing sooner than later), but also more so for Yai Gameworks as a whole to allow us to continue releasing games on Steam despite being poor and to allow me to continue pursuing my passions. I hope it does well, and I hope I can continue to bring my little games to you guys if you enjoy them. I'll be posting a lot more about all of this and Noiseless Signal to you guy's soon, but I thought I should mention this now as opposed to later to give you an idea of what's to come. Thank you for your time.

Red Haze Patch 1.2 Notes

UPDATE: 1.2 is all live now. So there will basically be multiple updates and then a bigger update every day it seems. Some people have been posting thoughts on the discussion board which has given me a lot of ideas of how to improve the overall experience. There's a lot I'm starting to put together that should roll out in the next few days I'll explain after this post. Make sure to post thoughts, requests, suggestions, critiques, questions, opinions, whatever on the discussion board. Hearing back from others is incredibly helpful for me. And of course if you spot any bugs or typos, report them here: http://steamcommunity.com/app/428860/discussions/0/135508833655990580/ Now unfortunately I didn't get done with the Trafficking Dungeon yet, I am keeping it in its unfinished state for the moment so you can't trigger things you shouldn't yet that would make people miss out on stuff. I got caught up fixing up some other aspects and watching Let's Plays of Red Haze honestly. If things go well that should be tomorrow though. But I did a few things for this update. --- RED HAZE 1.2 NOTES: -Fixed a lot of bugs, typos, and minor things. Watching Let's Plays paid off since I saw things some people didn't realize were bugs I've fixed. And continue with the wonderful reports from you guys, I'm squashing what bugs are found as much as I can. Also fixed up a few typos that went under the radar unnoticed by most. -Tone down the difficulty of a few enemies. So some spoilers, but specifically the
Custodian in the Southeast Hall is now a tad easier. Just a tad, most people probably won't spot the difference but he was a bit of a doozy before due to one aspect I've toned down now.
The biggest change though is in another enemy type.
The Mannequin enemy, or as I call it the Mannenmy, has been toned down in difficulty tremendously. A lot of people were wasting their adrenaline on the gruesome beast so I made their behavoir just a bit dumber so they're easier to pass... But not too easy.
-Added more Adrenaline spots to the game. -One of the scenes in the Trafficking Dungeon is now fully voiced, but I recommend not delving there until the update tomorrow. -There's four achievements you can get as well, two of which are accessible right now. This is also the final achievement list, I won't be adding anymore. --- There's also a lot of early hooks for a few ideas. So thanks to some wonderful feedback, here's some things I'm planning to add in the next few days: PLANS FOR UPCOMING PATCHES: -Trafficking Dungeon Completed... obviously. -Implementation to be able to skip the prologue bit after a few runs if you do something in the game, though it may effect some things. -Some sort of thing at the start of the game you can interact with to turn some special settings on and off. Specifically, some computers (not many but some) have issues with the rooms with Fog in it, the opacity effects don't work so the rooms are unseeable, so adding an option to turn fog on/off. Also going to add an option to turn the 3D in 3D sections on/off, but know they 100% are designed with 3D in mind but want to give the option. I also will add an ability for captions for the voice you sometimes here, might break some immersion but be able to understand what it's saying at least. -New hidden scenes/effects/ending effects. Want to add additional things that can happen by chance to the game. Some triggered only to be possible once you've done other things. But if don't worry, if you've already been playing the game this will in no way lock you out to these events, in fact you're more likely to have already triggered the conditions for some things I'll be adding, so be able to experience them sooner than later when released if things fall into place for each one... Sorry for being cryptic with that, but don't want to give too much away! --- I hope those getting lost in the Haze are having a good time, tomorrow update should be a big one if I get as much done as I hope to. Just keep the feedback and discussion coming! I'm hoping to continue shaping Red Haze into something progressively better, and will be at this for the next few weeks. Because of all the other stuff I'm adding, there might be a light delay to the Lighthouse Upper Floors and Final Door as have been focused on adding other features, but don't worry, I am working on them too! Happy trails to all of those wandering the haze~

Red Haze 1.1 Patch

Okay, so some of you who've had the game for a bit may have noticed it updated several times yesterday. I also just released another update. These updates will be pretty regular over the next few weeks. I've been taking early feedback and making some changes to the game. Before I post the details of the updates, please if you have any thoughts/requests/issues, post them in the Discussion Boards. I am in fact listening and making changes to the game based on feedback. I of course won't do every request, but requesting things helps me think over it and decide if I think it's a good idea or not. Anyways, because of some requests and such, here's some things that have been patched in since release yesterday: -Made it so after you've seen four unique endings, the credits will go 2.5x faster in every ending hereafter. Also if you get an ending you've already gotten before, credits will go 3x faster automatically. -New mechanic: If you get caught and thrown into the Well by the Custodian three times, on the fourth time a new mechanic will be introduced that will give you the option to use Adrenaline to get you out of the well and get rid of the Custodian from the area for that run so you can freely explore. But Adrenaline is a finite item which there's limited quantity of, and they're also used for other monster deaths, so use them sparsely. However due to adding this new mechanic that also uses Adrenaline, I'll add a few more hidden supplies of it around the game during the next day's patches. -Some bug fixes here and there. PLEASE continue sending your thoughts/critiques/requests in the Discussion Board, I'm still working on the game for the next few weeks and want to make the game the best it can be from feedback. So do expect a lot of patches through the next few weeks. Also if you find any bugs/typos/issues, please report them to this thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/428860/discussions/0/135508833655990580/ --- Now, I will be releasing a few more patches today. Here's what to expect in the next 24 hours: -Trafficking Dungeon will be completed. Now many probably haven't arrived at this location yet as it's kind of hidden, but if you've arrived there you've probably noticed a pathway is unfinished. That path will be finished tonight and be fully available hereon out. -More scenes being added. This will be true for the next few weeks regardless, but adding more and more changes as you do more in the game, lots of hidden triggers, more secrets, etc. This will continue for the next few weeks. -Fixing any issues people discover in the meantime I can. ALSO, there is an issue some people on Windows 10 are having. I think I have a solution, but unfortunately Steam doesn't have a good method to send out the update to only Windows 10 users (since it'd delete people's save files and cause some issues on other Windows machines), so I will be making a beta branch in the next few days those on Windows 10 can opt in. Will see if it fixes the issues Window 10 users are having first before fully announcing it, but I think it should help those on Windows 10 having issues with the game. --- I hope you guys are enjoying the game, and look forward to a lot more updates and content through the next few weeks. Outside of the Lighthouse Upper Floors, the last endings, and the Final Door Area, I'm also adding more and more to the game. Now then, happy trails to everyone getting lost in the haze~

Red Haze Release Notes

Red Haze is on the eve of its release at the time of writing, and I thought I'd give a breakdown for a few things peeps might like to know about Red Haze on its release. I want to be transparent, so here's just some things I should mention about Red Haze on release date:

 • The game is right now scheduled to release at 8 AM PST / 11 AM EST (did one slight delay for a last second thing), but there's a chance that Valve's store may not open until 9 AM PST / 12 AM EST. If that's so, just know if 8 AM PST comes and goes and the game isn't out, then it'll be hitting a bit past 9 AM PST due to Valve opening shop.
 • Red Haze will cost $1.99 USD. It will have a 5% discount for the first week of release. The game will not have another discount until the Summer Sale, in which it will be 5% off again. I like to reward early buyers and be transparent about my sales plans. On that note, don't expect to see Red Haze in a bundle anytime soon.
 • Red Haze is not a one and done game. A single ending can be obtained rather quickly if you know what you're doing, but there are a couple dozen endings in the game and as you do more in the game and get more endings, things in the game change. In a single playthrough of Red Haze, you'll only see about 5-15% of the game.
 • Red Haze has 27 endings total, but there will only be 20 endings available on release date. The full details of this are explained in the next bullet point.
 • Red Haze will have two major updates that will hit within the first couple weeks of release. The upper floors of the Lighthouse & the Final Door are not available on launch, but these areas wouldn't unlock until about a dozen (or a few dozen) playthroughs anyway. You'll be able to do what you can to unlock the lighthouse upper floors, but it'll be closed off for the time being. The upper floors of the Lighthouse normally don't unlock until you do several different things in the game you have to do across multiple different runs though, if you knew exactly what to do it'd still take several playthroughs, and figuring it out will probably take longer so I hope to patch it in before most players even get to the point of unlocking the upper floors of the Lighthouse. About 5-8 days after release the update will happen, the upper floors of the lighthouse also will net you 6 more of the endings, making the total ending count rise to 26. The 27th and final ending can only be accessed once the other 26 endings have been obtained, and it unlocks the Final Door area, but that also is not in the game at release (given you couldn't even unlock it until the Lighthouse is patched in anyways). The Final Door area will be patched in somewhere between 10-15 days after release.
 • Despite the above bulletpoint, I wouldn't hold off from playing. It takes a fair amount of legwork to unlock either of those areas anyway, and they'll be available immediately to those who've unlocked them when patched in. The rest of the game is completed.
 • Red Haze has achievements working on PC, but they're not working on Mac at this time. I got them working at one point in development, but it caused SERIOUS stutter issues for Mac testers, so I prioritized playability > achievements. If I figure out a solution to this technical problem, I'll add achievement support for Mac too. But at release achievements only work for PC players.
 • The game does have trading cards, and I accidentally had a typo on one of the cards. Sent it a fix which hopefully goes through, but it's looking like it might not. See if you can spot it.
 • I've been aided by some wonderfully helpful testers over the last few months on Red Haze, and they've done wonders in helping me squash bugs, typos, and the like. But there's probably still bugs, typos, and the like in the game. I'll try to fix them quickly in the first several weeks of release when more reports are coming in to whatever is reported, to report any bugs/typos/issues, please use this discussion board topic: http://steamcommunity.com/app/428860/discussions/0/135508833655990580/
 • I'm a-okay with anyone doing monetized videos on Red Haze. I would appreciate a link to the game's Steam page, but that's not a requirement, just a request. I learned a lot while working on Red Haze, and I feel like my next project will be much better for it. I hope you guys enjoy Red Haze though, and that it manages to surprise you in some ways.

Release Date Feb. 13th Blues

So game is releasing February 13th. It'll be done before the 13th I think, but I was looking over release schedules and hardly anything else is releasing that day, so it's why I picked it. It wasn't going to make the 6th date like I hoped, I still need to finish up a couple more areas I'm crunching right now and recording dialogue with Rockette's and Starry's VA's tomorrow and the day after. In the future once my next project, Hollow Bliss is released as well, I'm going to try to avoid specific dates until I'm 100% certain like I am right now. That's one thing I've certainly learnt the hard way, and I do understand if the delays have made some lose interest and I take full responsibility. It can be hard to gauge these things, especially when managing other aspects of your life. I appreciate the few in beta testing who've been helping me tremendously in polishing the title, they've been helping to make sure this is a fairly smooth launch as far as bugs & typos are concerned and several have been committed to helping there, which I'm grateful for. I don't want to say too much yet as I do fully believe Red Haze is best experienced going in blind, just knowing the game is not meant for a single playthrough (in fact, to experience everything would take, no joke, at least 27 playthroughs, and probably more due to a few things), and it's been interesting and challenging to design a game with that sort of focus, one where players only experience a small fraction of the game in a single playthrough, and trying to spice up replays so you never fully know what to expect. With a game that demands to be played at least 27 times to get to the true ending, it's challenging making those 27 runs interesting and more different than one might expect. Still, has been definitely a roller coaster for me developing the game, and I'm sure for some of you following the game with the delays. It will release 6 AM PST / 9 AM EST on the 13th of February (yes, 2017), it will cost $1.99 with a 5% discount off for the first week (so $1.89). It won't go cheaper than that for a while, it will go on sale for 5% again during the next Summer Sale. I like to be transparent about this and not rip off early customers. And I thank all those who've been patient.

Red Haze: Finalized Release Thoughts

http://store.steampowered.com/app/428860
Red Haze is in active crunch right now, and will be releasing February 6th - 8th. 6th is the goal, 8th is the deadline to allow two days if something comes up last minute. This is finalized, It's basically going to be non-stop work for me, except to break on the 24th & 25th as I'll be playing Resident Evil 7. Red Haze will be releasing for $1.99 USD, and have a 5% discount on release for the first week, so will be $1.89 for the first week. It won't go on sale for a while after that, until the Summer Sale, which will be discounted the exact same amount, 5% off, $1.89. I also promise it won't be bundled. I like to reward early buyers, its a big policy for me whenever I do releases. I think there is value both to myself and to fans and early adopters to allow a wide window of time before going deeper into discounting. And to be frank, it's not very hard to come by a couple dollars. Game will also have Steam achievements on Windows PC, cloud saves, & Steam Trading Cards. Unfortunately there will be no achievements on Mac for the time being due to a technical limitation, there is by chance a work around but my efforts thus far have caused issues with the Mac version. Playability over achievements is what I decided. --- So, some thoughts here before I send the game out as a product. In some ways Red Haze has turned out to be a much better game than I thought it'd be, and in others it hasn't quite lived up to what I wanted it to be. It has been a fantastic learning experience for myself, and I think my future endeavors will benefit from having made Red Haze. I've in earnest learned far more about game design, RPG Maker, myself, spriting, music making, and more during its process I think will help me with future projects. I don't know how Red Haze will do. I don't think I can know. Before I released Close Your Eyes, for example, I thought people weren't going to like it. I knew all of its flaws, I knew how it could've been better, and I was thinking its purposely cryptic story was going to frustrate people. It turned out doing a lot better than I anticipated, turns out the things I liked about it shined above the flaws for most. Even Take the Dream IX did better than I anticipated, I think it's the shittiest game I've ever made and I finished it out of sheer will to show I could finish it. So when it comes to Red Haze, it's hard for me to place how people may receive it. I'm expecting some "ow the edge," and some people to find elements of it cringey, and that's fine. The subject matter kind of naturally aligns itself to that, and I don't think all will like my voice acting choices I made for Red Haze. And if I'll be honest, I think the element of Red Haze that most didn't live up to what I wanted it to be was its narrative. There's a story, and in some ways I think I managed to make some interesting story scenes and developments, but it didn't quite come together like I wanted it to in its earlier stages. Characters were cut, scenes were as well, and thus entire plot elements dropped. On the other hand, I'm anticipating how people receive the game. I sent out some keys to random people who don't know me, I don't know them, and I think it's telling I got the same feedback from everyone: A bit of a slow start, but they slowly get more and more into it and start getting more engrossed in its strange world. Which is good, that was my singular biggest goal with Red Haze, to make a branching game that's not to be experienced in but a single playthrough, but several, with lots of secrets to uncover, endings to obtain, deeper areas to discover, and oddities to figure out. It uses a very unorthodox gameplay design I won't go fully into detail to here, but I think while some things didn't come together how I would've hoped, I think (and hope) it'll be a game that will be very much worth people's $2. I think it won't be my magnum opus, but I hope you all enjoy it. It's taken a lot longer than I would've liked due to life, motivation, one hell of a year in 2016, working on other things at the same time, breaks, and adding more and taking away at the same time at Red Haze as time has gone on. I'm kind of expecting some initial negative reviews by people who only experience the tip of the iceberg and never get to see what lurks deeper in the game, and the voice actress for Rockette is worried because she voiced in another RPG Maker Horror game in the past (Uri's Boogie Man, as it were), and has trolls who stalk her and she predicts they'll try trolling the review page for this game when it releases since they resurfaced again for her recently getting word she was voicing in this game. She tried apologizing to me about it, but to be honest I'm not too worried. Even if people not trolling dislike the game, I think there's a lot I can learn from that. 2017 is a big year for me since I either make or break this game making thing for me, but I have a lot of things slated for this year. My plans have changed since my last update on 2017 plans, which I'll try to share in the future. I decided to not go for as strict deadlines, for one, and re-arranged projects a bit more. That'll be for another day, however. For those helping with testing, there will be a pretty huge update hitting tomorrow, and a second big update hitting at the end of January. I appreciate everyone who's been helping test the game and spotting things I may have otherwise missed. A late welcome to 2017, and I look forward to seeing y'all play Red Haze. I hope it lives up to your guy's anticipation & expectations, and surprise you in some ways. I will say this though, it by design is a very different game than Close Your Eyes. It was highly experimental for me, and while I learned a lot from it, it's to be seen what y'all think of it. I hope it's enjoyable.

Uggghhh

I hate to do this, I really, REALLY do. I'm going to visit family for the holidays, which wasn't originally my plan as I thought this year others were busy so we weren't going to do a get-together, thus I'd have an additional week to crunch on Red Haze. But last minute plans changed and now going to go visit family. So outside of losing development time, I've also recently been getting some general people's feedback on Red Haze and giving it to YouTubers. To my pleasure most have been pleasantly surprised with it, especially as they get deeper into the game. But it's also highlighted a few things I want to change, so been reworking some older areas and adding new stuff to try to make an overall better experience. I'm going to delay Red Haze by one more week. And I'm setting my foot in the sand to not push it back further than that. I'll have to work hard once I get home, but I have other projects to work on and games I also am looking forward to (Resident Evil 7 releases on January 24th, I don't want to work on Red Haze while I'm playing that). I really do apologize for another delay, but I think it'll be better to give myself an extra week with the additional outside elements coming into play and reworking some elements of the game and adding to it. No but seriously, fuck delays.

2017 Floor Plan for Yai Gameworks [Goal to Release 8 Games]

I will keep this post straight to the point, due to some voice actor & personal things I am doing one last & final delay to Red Haze & Hollow Bliss, but this is 100% going to be the last delay (sans some unfortunate incident of some kind). However, this is as good time as any to reveal my crazy idea I have for 2017. More than an idea actually, this is a commitment. My goal is to release eight games during 2017, which include Red Haze & Hollow Bliss. Two of them will be bigger projects while the other four will be small/medium-small ones. But first, the new dates for Red Haze & Hollow Bliss: http://store.steampowered.com/app/428860/ Red Haze - January 13th Red Haze will finally release for $1.99 with a 10% discount for the first week of launch (there won't be another sale on the game until the summer, I like to be transparent with this stuff, and the sale in the summer won't be any steeper). Join Rockette in a shanty apartment seeking out her dealer, Aunti G, to hook her up with the goods. With 27 endings & various aspects of the game that change as you do more in different playthroughs, I hope the wait will have been worth it. http://store.steampowered.com/app/545450/ Hollow Bliss - February 17th Hollow Bliss will release for $4.99 with a 10% discount for the first week (similarly to Red Haze, it won't have another sale until Summer and not be any further discounted at that time, like to support early buyers). All in all, Chris Lansan lived his life in the uttermost normalcy he could muster. A routine is a comfortable thing, and if you do as you're expected things will usually fall in line. But one day Chris awakens staring at an unknown and strange ceiling, and finds himself in an abandoned hut in a misty valley... Someone or something has violated Chris's cycle, and now only through misery after misery and clinging to an uncertain hope may he possibly make it through and find catharsis. But are the dreams we think we have what we truly want, or is it nothing more than a Hollow Bliss? --- Now, those two have obviously been in the production line for a while. The rest of the projects will need to go through Steam Greenlight, and I don't especially looking forward to greenlighting 6 projects all around the same time, but we do as we must. If everything goes smoothly, these dates will remain. My goal is to not delay too much if at all possible, being a two-person team there are some things that sometimes come up in life and all that, but will try our hardest to try and meet our goals for 2017. Without further ado, we debated which of our projects to prioritize for 2017 (we have a lot that we want to work on and get started in background and that we conceptualize, work on, and sometimes put away for a time and come back to later), I'll just give a basic description of each right now, but will be many more details in the near future. Here's what we decided to go with: A Girl Is Eating From My Garbage - April 14th A young man is becoming paranoid as a creepy woman comes to the garbage bin along the side of his house every night and eats from it. He gathers up the courage to confront her... Blank Slate - May 26th A remake of the first game I had ever released publicly online. A nameless protagonist wakes up and heads out to a barren land full of puzzles known as the White Zone. Seaming with oddness, and with an abstract flow, what is it that our protagonist continues onward for? Close Your Eyes 2 (tentative title) - August 25th Two years after the release of the Final Expansion of the original Close Your Eyes, we are releasing a sequel. Taking place immediately after the events of the original game, we join a pent-up individual who lashes out at the world, a copycat killer inspired by the original Judith Manor Murders. Meanwhile, a poor unfortunate Little Marshmallow has faced the past, but now realizes the present may be far worse... Noiseless Signal - October 13th Humans use signals in many aspects of their life to transfer information, sometimes vocally, sometimes with body gestures, sometimes with wireless connections... Almost all information shared is done via a large variety of signals. What happens if those signals are distorted, twisted? Something comes between the signal and its delivery? Is something wrong with the receiver, the sender, or something in-between? Nostalgica: An Old World Passes - November 17th Once upon a time, there was a beautiful princess who went by the name of Valerie. However, despite her splendor, the princess was very sad. The princess was in love with a prince. But, their love was forbidden. She fought for him with all her might, but was locked away in an impossibly high tower by her own father, the King. Still, her spirit was not broken. She knew she would break free of her imprisonment, and see her love again someday... Simon was a lowly man who grew up in the slums of a big city. However, through a stroke of pure luck, Daniel gets his own golden ticket of opportunity after against all odds, he wins the lottery. Life is looking up, he is finally able to move away from the city and into a fantastical house deep in the forest... However, his luck is cut short when he finds himself trapped within his own home, becoming more and more intertwined in a terrifying local legend. Now Simon's only hope of escape is to crack a mystery that's been buried for years...
Suspended Ascent - December 18th Inspired to try and fill the void of not too many very good Silent Hill inspired games out there, this is our own personal take on such a game. Much more word on it later, just know it stars a woman in the Philippines and I'll post that early piece of concept art which was our first little piece for it from last year. --- I hope you guys look forward to next year and our planned titles for the year!

Hollow Bliss, Red Haze, Close Your Eyes Updates!

http://store.steampowered.com/app/545450 How is everyone doing? There is a lot to talk about, so let me jump straight into this. Firstly, Hollow Bliss will be delayed a bit until January 13th. There is three big reasons for this: 01.) Allows me more time to develop & polish it. 02.) It means I'm not releasing it sandwiched between two big Steam sales. 03.) It allows me to give it some time in the oven for testers to help polish (testing begins with people I'll select at a later date on December 3rd), and for me to try to advertise and see if I can get some sites and/or Youtubers to tackle it (I don't expect much turn out, but I've gotta try!). The game will be releasing for $4.99 USD with a 10% discount on launch ($4.49 USD), and it won't go any lower than that for quite a while (I like to treat early buyers well). I hope it does well, and I'll talk more about why in the next bit, which is important so please listen up. http://store.steampowered.com/app/428860/ Red Haze I've delayed a little bit, I decided to make Red Haze the game I release sandwiched between two Steam Sales. It will be releasing on December 2nd, and this decision was made partially since the VA's needed a little more time and it allows me to be able to have more time as well, especially as I now tackle on Steam Cards and achievements for Red Haze. Within the last few days, due to a fairly long story involving my family and an oil company, I had gone to the emergency room last July and it should of been insured, but it wasn't, and now I have a $2.700 medical bill to pay off, and so I have to start being financially conscious. As Red Haze was already a pretty ambitious freeware project and I am now literally thousands of dollars in medical debt, I am working a bit harder to add some more oomph to Red Haze, and will be releasing Red Haze for either $0.99 or $1.99 w/a launch discount. Deciding which price currently due to some back and forth factors, but I hope this decisions is understandable and I hope you all enjoy Red Haze as its release approaches. http://store.steampowered.com/app/377330/ Finally, on my road to put achievements into Red Haze, Close Your Eyes was my test dummy. So now Close Your Eyes has achievements, which I hope you all enjoy. Also adjusted the credits a small bit and organized the files a bit more, but not much else outside of that for now. I hope those who decide to go get them and those who play CYE for the first time enjoy them! I'm going to go take a nap now as I have been doing nothing but achievement images and trying to code them in both Red Haze & Close Your Eyes for several hours straight, but I hope you all enjoy and thank you for reading!

Red Haze Hollow Bliss Release Date Updates New Information

http://store.steampowered.com/app/428860/ http://store.steampowered.com/app/545450/ I'm going to be doing something a bit crazy. I got word from Valve there may be a good reason to want to wait a little to release Hollow Bliss, so the release date has been moved to December 21st, and I will work hard to make that date or even release a few days earlier. This said, due to the delay and some thoughts I've been having, I've decided to first focus my attention on Red Haze. I am going to work super hard on it during the next few weeks, and going to try hard to release it on November 21st. If any complications come up I might delay it slightly, but that is my current goal. Thought I'd give you guys a heads-up, and beta testers I will really need your guy's cooperation to make this release date as polished as possible. Starting tomorrow there will be near daily updates for Red Haze, I will push them out quickly to get feedback and very much appreciate those that work with me. People who joined the beta process will also be receiving a beta key for Hollow Bliss next week or the week after sometime and receive Hollow Bliss for free. Thank you for your time, and for dealing with my release date juggle. But I'm working hard!

Hollow Bliss page now live on Steam

http://store.steampowered.com//app/545450 Hollow Bliss now has a page live on Steam. I am working hard to release this game on November 25th, 2016. It will be releasing for $4.99 USD with a 10% discount during the first week (and I promise you, it won't get any cheaper than that for a long while, want to reward those who give a chance on it). If you helped with Red Haze's beta testing, I'll be making a post on the beta testing pages shortly for those who actually helped give feedback over time to help also beta test Hollow Bliss. I hope you all are having a wonderful October, one of my favorite months. And I if you guys decide to take the dive, you enjoy Hollow Bliss. I'm hoping it does okay, but all I can do for now is work on it. Have a wonderful day~

Hollow Bliss Steam Greenlight Page now live!

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=774015838&tscn=1475534834 Hollow Bliss is now on Steam Greenlight, I would appreciate if you'd look at it and consider voting for it, much more gameplay of that one coming soon! If you're curious, the "A Girl Is Eating My Garbage" page will go up a bit later. Now if this feels like it's out of left field, it's because I haven't been communicating properly, but like I said in my last post part of my goal is to start doing that much more, so let me spill some beans.
(Yeah, I'm not sorry for that one.) You may have noticed I have in the past year mentioned several different game titles, and not much more than that about them. Some projects simply changed shape and name or merged together, but most of it goes with me being one of those types that's a bit too... Highly ambitious. While I'm very productive and I thankfully have what I need to see something through, there does end up a lot of projects that end up somewhere in partial development. This year has been particularly bad about that since I really expanded my horizons. I know I haven't been vocal about this, but I spent a lot of time this year trying to hone my skills in areas and gain new skills, and I took a lot of time studying different game engines. Not so much to replace RPG Maker for me, but to broaden the things I could make and the overall skill. and it's helped, I think I've seen a raise in quality of my work. I studied 3D modelling, deeper music production methods, and most of all various different engines, ranging from Game Maker, to Ledworks, to Clickteam Fusion, to Unity, to Unreal, to SMILE, to Axis, and more. And not just light study, I mean dedicated time and I sort of started partial projects in all of them. Most of them you guys won't see for some time, but I wanted myself to do something most indie devs don't do... Try to hone my skills in a number of engines and try different sort of projects I make and see how they fit different engines. Part of the fun I think for me is working within but also expanding my limitations. As a result, I have ended up with more partial progress projects than I'd like to admit... You guys don't even know half of them. A few of them will probably pop up next year, but it also gets worse since sometimes as I work I realize it'd be best for now if I focus on another project first and save that project for later when I gain more skill in other areas. There's been sort of an effect of this where I name drop something, and then suddenly something I've never mentioned before crops up and I act like it's been there all along... Since it has been. Originally I thought A Girl Is Eating My Garbage was the project that most came along and I could do for my Halloween project, but then within the last week I made tremendous bounds on Hollow Bliss, and I knew and buckled down this was my Halloween project, and here we are. It's what I'm dedicating my October too, I've been working a crazy amount on it. Hollow Bliss is a project that was born as a mixture of my look into Ledworks, Clickteam Fusion, & SMILE game engines. I won't talk about this much right now, but I was looking into the possibility of a fixed camera angle horror game, and I found it's more than possible albeit with challenges. I originally was going to name it Hollow Bliss, but as it came along that name didn't fit, and I found when working on the Ledworks project that it fit the project much more on that due to a method I was learning 3D modelling with and an effect which inspired an idea... But I fiddled around with SMILE Game Builder's trial and something really came from that, it used almost all of the same 3D model limitations and exact specs that Ledworks used, which made importing my progress easy, and more so made the project come together better. So here we are with Hollow Bliss as it is in its finalized state! I'll leave the Greenlight Page to give the basic of what the project is, but expect a couple more posts about it this next month and watch the Greenlight Page or my YouTube channel in upcoming weeks for more gameplay of it. I won't say too much, as I think the game is best enjoyed knowing as little as possible, but try to show some stuff to get people interested. Happy October, and thanks for those who are sticking with me and all my twists and turns.

A Girl Is Eating From My Garbage, Lonely Yet Not, & Red Haze ; Basic Info Going Forward Update

So as some of you guys probably saw, I have delayed Red Haze to 'eventually' release. My actual goal with this is to release the game within the next half a year, before the end of 2016 or during the first few months of 2017, so the delay shouldn't actually be that long. I said before while posting this to the Red Haze page that the delay was because of an idea brewing inside of me I needed to make a reality; whenever I started to work on Red Haze I would work for an hour or two and get some progress done (but much less than my usual 5-12 hour development sessions I'm used to). But I always stopped and didn't fully know why since I still had the urge to create something but my heart was directed elsewhere. A friend helped me realize that what's been stopping me was a selfish creative desire, in Red Haze I kept on getting ideas to add in a big segment based off some thoughts I have had cooped up inside for a couple years, but I decided not to since it was too radically different from Red Haze and didn't really fit with everything else for the game. But it kept on coming back into my head, I tried to push it back to tell myself I could work on it after Red Haze, but in turn it was making me work less on Red Haze as I actually wanted right now to work on that project tossing around in my head and to work on Red Haze between that, So Red Haze is put on small hiatus, to release 'eventually (though it almost without a doubt will release within the next half a year, I will mention). Red Haze will remain free and I am hoping taking some time to work on a couple other projects will make Red Haze flow more naturally too so I can make it want I want it to be instead of trying to rush elements of it to get it over with. So what am I doing & working on now? Firstly, I have started the beginning stages of the bigger medium project which is what had been stirring in my mind and interrupting Red Haze development, Lonely Yet Not. I don't have a lot of details I will share about this quite yet, but it will definitely not release until next year, it is very unorthodox, and has a cast of seven main characters. My artists Rincs has done a fantastic job doing quick concept sketches of them as I work on the early music and designing stages, I'll post a couple minisculed & cut in half rough concept sketches of two of the characters here:
We'll talk more about Lonely Yet Not another time. What I'm really here to talk about is my Halloween project, I actually started with two and decided which one to finish with while the other I'll release at some other point. I originally thought about trying to force Red Haze to be my Halloween project, but since that's not going through, here comes the project I'll be dedicated my development time too as we get early work done on Lonely Yet Not. A Girl Is Eating My Garbage That's the name of the game. It's not a very long project, it's developed as one of my shorter projects. Well, I say that but honestly it'll probably have more development time put into it than both Close Your Eyes and Take the Dream IX had into them. I am undecided if I should put a price on the game or release it freely yet. I hope to put it up on Greenlight next week, as I want to release it on October 28th if possible and if I don't post it on Greenlight soon, there's no way I'll be greenlit in time for that date. Worse comes to shove I'll release it in November, but I'd like to meet that Halloween update, so hoping Greenlight goes swiftly for the title. A Girl Is Eating My Garbage will be the strangest game I've released yet, it uses a sort of simplistic graphic style so I can do rapid development quickly, and has a lot of unorthodox gameplay elements... For example, you cannot save traditionally. The game starts off with the very thing the game is named off of, a guy is becoming concerned since there is a girl that's eating out of his garbage at night. And not just one night, she keeps on coming back to his garbage to chow down every night. He's getting weirded out and paranoid, and goes out to confront her... I won't say too much yet as I hope to have the game up on Steam Greenlight in a weeks time, but I hope you guys look forward to it and I am open to answering questions about the title. Most of the information I'll share currently on it will be in response to questions asked of me before it goes up on Greenlight next week. Thought I'd give you guys an update, and hope you guys look forward to "A Girl Is Eating From My Garbage" going up on Greenlight next week, which hopefully I can get greenlit a bit before Halloween.

Red Haze will be delayed some to another project

I recently have been trying to work more on Red Haze, but something's been blocking me from doing more than small bursts of it at once. And someone finally helped me realize what it was, I was using Red Haze as a wall for me to climb before I worked on something I really wanted to work on. It's something that's been in the back of my head for at least two years, but it's finally starting to take form, and I really want to make it. Red Haze will not be cancelled, I do want to do it too. But I think I've been holding back my inspiration to make something that I really want to because of Red Haze, and I think Red Haze and this project will end up for the better if I take time to work on this project that's been circling around inside of me. Red Haze will be finished, but there's no exact time to expect that. And the project I am going to start working on and work on Red Haze in-between is titled, "Lonely Yet Not". I'll probably have a Greenlight page up for it soon, and both Red Haze and Lonely Yet Not will release eventually. I'll come forward with more info soon, but I thought I should inform those who've been following Red Haze what's going on. This has been tearing me up more than I realized and put me in a halt of progress, so I have to make this. It's hard to explain, but I hope you all do understand. And I hope you continue to look forward to both Red Haze, and Lonely Yet Not, but that of course is a decision you all make for yourselves. I'll try to keep everyone updated more on what's going on from now on as well.

So let's talk a little about Red Haze, and me as a developer.

Hey everyone, this is Dusk Golem aka AestheticGamer, or you can just call me Ryan. I'm 24-years old, about to turn 25 actually as my birthday is on the 11th of July (7-11, ohohoho...), and I do a variety of things online. Today I specifically am going to be talking about myself as a game developer. First, some history. I first learned making games was possible when I was 10 years old in later 2001, and a friend introduced me to a little program known as Games Factory. I loved the hell out of it, I taught myself the program more and more and made little dorky projects for myself. They involved using sprites and engines I found off the internet to modify and work with for my own ends. Never released a single one, except embarrassingly for a Shadow the Hedgehog fangame I released in early 2006 at the ripe age of 14 I titled, "Shadow the Hedgehog: Symbols of Destiny". I took a break from my so-called game development as things in school and life picked up, and I just thought it was never liable I might ever be a person to make video games. I am severely limited as a developer in a number of fields; I have limited programming knowledge (I've dipped in everything from Javascript to C++ and C Basic, I took classes, I've learned from some more tech-savvy friends, but I wouldn't come close to saying I've mastered any of these languages, simply dabbled in them), I am very limited as an artist and a spriter, I have no musical background... The list goes on. But I've had ambitions to make games ever since I was 10. I did really push myself to learn more, I bought and borrowed several of those game development books and followed them for a while. I tried to motivate myself for a long period of time, but I fell into that self-feeding hole of pessimism where I would be more excited for the idea behind a game that actually developing it. I was in a rut for a few years of just not really making anything, despite the fact that I wanted to. I have notebooks full of ideas, sketches, how it would work, but didn't have anything to show for it. The first small breakthrough I made was in 2013, where I pushed myself to make a game in 48 hours for Ludum Dare (a game development jam with a limited time period and a theme, the theme for this particular Ludum Dare ended up being minimalism), and I made the game Blank Slate, which you can find here. Blank Slate taught me a lot of things, despite being an incredibly limited game and having only worked on it for less than 48 hours. Firstly, it was my first experience making music ever. The project required you to make everything from scratch yourself, so I worked hard and made some music. It was... Honestly, the music wasn't that good, but I proved to myself I could do it if I tried, it was a possible thing. I also unintentionally sort of figured out what kind of games I liked making. I have been becoming a bigger horror enthusiast since 2007, when I played Resident Evil 4. Before then, I was a huge scaredy-cat and I was convinced I could never like horror, since I was scared shitless by it. I was so convinced I was too afraid of these things, that such obvious pointers that I actually liked it (I loved Goosebumps as a kid, Courage the Cowardly Dog was one of my favorite cartoons as a kid, Halloween was always my favorite holiday and I loved ghost stories, etc.) eluded me. I even have a memory of getting my first console as a kid from my grandmother for my birthday, the Dreamcast as it were, with a collection of games she had gotten by getting the console cheap from a neighbor of hers who's kids had gone off to college and left it behind. In the collection was Resident Evil 2, which I had heard Resident Evil was a horror game, so I literally threw the disc out to the garbage. It would of course, later be Resident Evil that would start my kick onto horror and would expand to further games in the genre, films, novels, etc. Because of my late-blooming interest in horror, I kind of consumed many of the series backwards; an example, I played the Silent Hill series almost literally backwards, starting with Shattered Memories, following up with Homecoming, then I played Silent Hill 4, then 2, then 3, then 1, etc. At this point in time I've played literally hundreds of horror games, ranging from everything from Resident Evil: Dead aim to WhiteDay: A Labyrinth Named School, Parasite Eve to Zaphie 2, my interest and taste in the genre has become very broad. I solidified what taste I had in game development in my late 2013 Halloween title for an RPGMaker.net contest with Girl's Graveyard, which you can play an expanded version (without copyright issues as well) of in the Close Your Eyes Goodie Bag DLC. Girl's Graveyard was developed with the idea of making a cursed game; this idea is a bit more common now with things like Pony Island and CALENDULA, but back then it was something not seen very often. I based it loosely off of an old 1980s game by Yuji Naka known as Girl's Garden, and went on to make the progressively more twisted tale of a Girl collecting candy for a boy she loves on Halloween. It.. Got almost no attention at all, but I was quite proud of it! Then in early 2014, Ludum Dare came around again, and I made Close Your Eyes. I was beginning to get a better feel for making these short projects, and I decided I wanted to make games I wish existed. I was limited still in severe ways as a developer, but somehow I could at least make something, and I wanted to grow what I could do and make the sort of things I wish other people were making, in my own limited way. The original version of Close Your Eyes had a lot of flaws however, and a year later in April of 2015, I reworked it and made a Redux version of Close Your Eyes. For the first time since I had started making games, a game I made received some attention. It wasn't a smash-out hit or anything, but I had actual feedback from people who had actually played the game. More surprising, people actually liked it! Up until now I was completely self-sufficient and just working off of a central global drive, I didn't actually think my games had any sort of appeal beyond myself maybe. But I received some messages from people who played it, a few medium-small YouTubers played it, and I both could hear people's opinion on something I made, as well as see others actually play it. It was then I decided to do an experiment. A couple years prior I bought the Steam Greenlight $100 pass thing in the off chance I ever decided to make anything, and this was before Greenlight's recent reputation drop due to some shady developers, so I was incredibly nervous and submitted my game to Greenlight, Close Your Eyes, with a promise I'd add more content from the Redux version if it went through Steam. I even did something I'm completely unnatural at and tried to contact a few indie game sites, YouTubers... But I guess I never had to, since surprisingly the game got through Greenlight in 10 days with surprisingly positive response. Many of the sites and YouTubers didn't get back to me (I don't remember who, but I recall a particularly nasty email I got from one of them asking what was in it for them, and to never contact them again, calling me an amateurish prick for even thinking of asking something of him with nothing in return for him), but a few got back, and to my surprise again, many of them actually enjoyed it. I got to work on the 'Final Expansion' version of CYE and released it on Steam. It had flaws, but I'm kind of weird and think the flaws are part of the game at heart. Stuff to learn for from the next project, but they were part of the game's DNA. And while I was met with a fair share of negative reviews on release (many people with 0.1 hours of playtime, leaving such colorful reviews as, "no," and, "on the first screen i knew this is like the free ♥♥♥♥♥♥-psycho-horror genre's ET it plays like a cheap trick and looks worse into the "incest/murder/2spooky/:^)" bin it goes." And not to discredit criticism, after a period of time some actual responses started coming, some glowing, and some with critiques that were insightful and most certainly a formulated opinion from playing it. But maybe to my further surprise, the response to the game got more positive as time went on. --- There's more to this story, a lot more in fact, but I wanted to open with that long bit of history to bring up Red Haze, its meaning to me, and where I'm going. Firstly, if you haven't yet, you can find Red Haze's Steam Store page here: http://store.steampowered.com/app/428860 Red Haze is my current project, and the last freeware project I'll be doing for a while (not my last ever though, most certainly). It's both similar but also very different from what I have made previously. Some of you also may know this game as, "the game that was delayed from April to August." I'll get to that, but first let me explain what Red Haze is. Red Haze, at its heart, is a project that came into being when a friend named Sandy approached me with her own dreams of making games. She helped conceptualize the project, but unfortunately her own life things caught up with her and she's only checked in every once in a while. However, this project would not be what it is without her assistance. The core of the game was decided between the two of us, as well as it being a loose retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, and she created Rockette's design and we both worked out her personality and the seediness of her and her situations together. Red Haze is a horror game that focuses on the pits and cracks of society through a surreal lens, and is designed to be like a root, in that the game is short, but playing through it once, you'll experience less than 10% of what the game has to offer. Your actions, decisions, and a lot more subtle things change the course of your game. The sort of game where 5 people could play through, and then discuss afterwards and have experienced completely different things, and not made to be played through simply once. It has a lot of tricks up its sleeve, things I'm not willing to discuss at this point at time. And its been delayed a lot. The honest reason is I just haven't been working on it as much as I would of liked to. Lots of life things have come up in the last year, and it's only been getting worse. My dad was laid off of a business he own due to some corrupt investors and he's having to go to court for it, and it's been effecting a lot of the immediate family, myself included. I took on way too much and recently went to the emergency room for severe pain that seems to have come from strained muscles around my heart due to stress. I've had some personal relationship stuff come up recently, both good and bad, have had to work harder on my YouTube channel recently, and add to this money concerns, I have a trip to go to my sister's graduation in less than a month... basically, a lot has been going on. But also in some ways I've been honestly a bit lazy. But Red Haze I am setting as a goal to 100% finish before August 31st, a year since Close Your Eyes released on Steam. I'm working hard to meet that date. I want to release it, I think it's a better showcase for what I want to do with games than anything I've released previously. It has some flaws, but I also legitimately think there's no other games quite like it. That's not to say it's a wholly original thing, but it's the sort of game I would love to have with a lot of controversial design decisions; There are no Gameovers, there is a shit ton of choice, the experience in a single run will be fairly short, there's only a single save file, the game has a female protagonist that can be sexualized based on players actions, I could go on and on. There is reason behind every decision, and I'll be interested to see how the game goes down with people, positive or negative. But I'm also somewhat limiting my vision I realize, because it's a freeware project and I'm starting to become in a do or die situation where I either start making money doing this, or else I'll have to make this a much more regulated hobby to what I do otherwise to stay afloat. As some of you may know, I have started development also on a sequel to Close Your Eyes. I don't want to say too much, but the sequel out of all things was inspired by the old 1930s cartoon, Swing You Sinners, but I have a lot of surprises in store for that one. Behind the scenes, I've also started work on a couple other projects you will see with time. I am incredibly excited for all of them, but many are far off, outside of Red Haze. Still, I want you to understand who I am and where I'm coming from. I think we live in an age where too many people just aren't... Either they aren't transparent, or they put on a facade to do something behind the scenes. There comes more and more news of people doing shady things behind the scenes of YouTubers, Game Developers, and this whole scene, that I want to make who I am and my intent crystal clear. I can be a bit shy and to myself sometimes, but I am working towards trying to be more transparent. Partially because I think it's best for me, best for you guys... Just, best for everyone really. And I think it's interesting. Here I am a limited developer with big dreams who also does other internet gaming stuff regularly, I post on NeoGAF often, I stream often, I host a medium-small YouTube channel, I buy and play games off Steam regularly. I just think... Well, I'm not all that different from anyone else who has passion, and in continuing to create these games, I want you all to enjoy them. I wish I could release all of them for free, hell I'm even debating if there's a way I can make this work while keeping myself afloat like that, but I'm not certain yet. We live in an era where anyone can make a game and release it on Steam. I don't want to be some crappy shady developer. But I'm just myself, and I guess with that all I can do is just be honest about myself with you guys. I'll continue to make the things I want to make, I do have big dreams and a passion for this. I hope to improve, and I hope you all enjoy Red Haze when it does come out, as well as future projects I have in the works. This was definitely a wall of text, but I appreciate anyone who took the time to read this, hope you learned a few things about me and why Red Haze might be a bit delayed, and I am going to try my best to answer all questions and comments. It will take some work from me, but that's the type of developer I want to strive to be, and the type I think I can and want to be.

Help a Friend through Greenlight; Amihailu in Dreamland

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=691465752 My own Greenlight pages for Close Your Eyes 2 & Suspended Ascent will go up within a few months, but in the meantime, a friend of mine is trying to get a project she's put a lot of work and time into onto Steam via Greenlight as a freeware title. I've enjoyed her games, and would love them to be exposed to a wider audience, so if you have a moment, I'd appreciate taking a bit to look at the above Greenlight page and consider giving it a vote. Thank you for your time, and I promise more word on Red Haze, Close Your Eyes 2, and Suspended Ascent soon!
