Cosplay Club - Early Access Dec 14th!

Hey all!

We're happy to annouce that this next Dec 14th we'll be launching our game Cosplay Club on Early Access, here on Steam.

A couple of weeks ago, our Kickstarter backers received access to the first chapter of the game and have been enjoying it so far. Because of that immediate good response, we decided to let you all be envolved with its development through the Early Access program.

Why Early Access?

We've chosen to release Cosplay Club through Early Access to involve our community in the game's development journey. We aim to gather valuable feedback, insights, and suggestions that will help us refine and enhance the gaming experience. This collaborative approach allows us to build a game that resonates with the preferences and expectations of you all. It all started during the Kickstarter in 2022, and we want to continue exploring this path.

The duration of the Early Access phase will depend on the feedback and input we receive from you all. We are committed to delivering a polished and engaging experience, and the Early Access period will continue until we feel that the game has reached a level of quality and completeness that aligns with our vision. It will be mostly around 9 to 12 months, and even after that, we plan to continue to integrate new content.

The Early Access version serves as a foundation, offering players the core mechanics and features of Cosplay Club. Throughout the Early Access phase, we plan to introduce new content, refine gameplay elements based on player feedback, and address any identified issues.

New game's name

From now on, we'll be refering to our game as Cosplay Club. We wanted a more friendly and catchy name, and funny enough everyone was already calling it by this name. So it makes even more sense to change it permanentely. But we all know how important the Mahou Senshi part is to us and to the game's theme, so it will be forever on our history.

Developers of Chroma Squad are once again back on the Kickstarter with a new RPG project



Our studio is back to the Kickstarter! We just revealed our new crowdfunding project and we're hoping to have the same success that we had in 2013 with Chroma Squad. Do you remember the manager RPG about Power Rangers and TV Show?

Getting back to the Kickstarter once again is not for the faint-hearted. Chroma Squad in 2013 was a huge undertaken, but it was a very successful one. said Saulo Camarotti, the lead creator of the studio. Today were getting back to crowdfunding, but we want to bring more experience and maturity to the project he completes.

The new project is called Mahou Senshi Cosplay Club, where the studio is focusing in creating a story driven RPG with their very well-known twist of mixing realities of imagination and meta reference. This time a Magical Girl gets her power from starting a journey in becoming a Cosplayer, and the game will allow you to create costumes and fight in turn-based battles using the costumes you create.

The game features a complete RPG set in a cosplaying world. Youll have the opportunity to explore events and exhibitions to participate in cosplaying contests. Through exploration, you will expand your inventory with new materials and design parts so you can be more creative on crafting new costumes.

We're looking for support to complete the game on Kickstarter and we've put some interesting options in the pledge list, such as buying access to an early playable build of the game, or even becoming an NPC cosplayer inside the game that looks just like you and would be wearing a nice cosplay of your choice.

- Fixed the issue that caused aliens to "stack mutations", like a flying swimmer that was invulnerable to pretty much everything haha.
- Fixed the bug causing the game to keep the challenge rules on regular matches if you've had just played a challenge.

Challenges Overhaul v1.2.4

Welcome to our 1.2.4 patch! We are very happy to see how many of you are constantly coming back to test your skills on the weekly challenges and weve definitely heard you ask for ways to play more than one challenge a week. This update is meant to address that and improve your overall control and late game replayability.

CHALLENGES AND SEEDS



The weekly challenge is no longer only a checkbox. Now it is one of three ways of playing challenge matches. Choosing the weekly option will send you to the same once-a-week challenge that you are used to. You know, the same rules for everyone and all that. It is good to mention that this is still the only challenge that will unlock the golden appliances achievements.

The first new option we added is random. That will allow you to randomize the modifiers and get a new set of rules each time you click the button that pops beneath it. You can randomize once to just have a new challenge to play or do it multiple times to choose the set of rules that seems more interesting for you.

The second one is the seed mode. In it, you can write down a seed of a specific challenge and play it. That may come in hand, if a friend of yours or a streamer played a random match that you want to try or if you want to store a fun weekly challenge seed to play it again later. You can find a matchs seed in the pause and the end screen, may it be after a victory or defeat.

NEW MODIFIERS

Since we are giving you all more chances to play challenges, it would be great to increase the amount and variety of modifiers available in the game, so that is what we did! With the help of our discord community members and digging up our old challenge ideas files, weve added 32 new challenge modifiers that can now be used on challenges. Here is the complete list:


  • Just Keep Swimming: All aliens mutate to Swimmers;
  • Sleeping Beauty: All aliens mutate to Snoozers;
  • It Hurts!: All aliens mutate to Spikeys;
  • I Believe I Can Fly!: All aliens mutate to Spitters;
  • Bring the Artillery: All aliens mutate to Bulkies;
  • Game of Thrones: All aliens mutate to Leaders;
  • Mutation Madness: Every type of alien can spawn;
  • Natural Selection: Aliens hatch from their eggs with mutations;
  • So Fast?: Aliens skip their hatching phase when they mutate;
  • Power Inversion: Appliances that needed energy no longer need it and vice-versa;
  • No Energy Needed: No appliances need energy;
  • Bring Batteries: Every appliances need energy;
  • Overcharged: Robots are faster and never need to recharge;
  • No Ozone Layer: Sprays last longer and are applied faster;
  • Bigger and Shinier: Mops are more efficient at cleaning;
  • Old Mop: Mops are less efficient at cleaning;
  • Heavy Bucket: Carrying buckets full of water makes you slow;
  • Dog Shelter: You can adopt up to 3 dogs at once;
  • Limited Stock: Non-consumable items on the shop can only be bought once;
  • Direct Delivery: Items are delivered on your head;
  • Random Delivery: Items bought will be delivered to a random player;
  • Crazy Delivery: Items bought will appear in a random room;
  • Keep it cold: Items bought will go directly to a fridge;
  • Meditation: Standing still will make you slowly recover hunger and fatigue;
  • Keep Moving!: Standing still will make you even more tired than walking around;
  • Delivery Delay: Shop items take much more time to arrive;
  • Life gave you lemons: Limited shop, but spaceship starts with lots of drops;
  • Leaking bucket: Buckets will run out of water after a short time;
  • Action-Reaction Law: Normal aliens mutate instantly when they are stunned;
  • Adaptive Mutations: Aliens will adapt to be immune to the way they were stunned;
  • Reroll: Mutated aliens will change their mutation randomly when stunned;
  • Half Second Rule: Food will spoil as soon as they reach the floor. Don't drop it!
  • Unstable Energy: Batteries will spoil if left on the ground for five seconds;
  • Time bomb trash: Trash bags will explode after a short time on the floor

MATCHMAKING CHANGES

Weve released a warning a little more than a month ago saying that wed remove the matchmaking feature from the game. If you didnt have a chance to read the original post, you can find it here. During the past weeks weve had the opportunity to talk to some of you about this feature and it changed our perception of how many of you managed to find matches through it.

We decided to, instead of removing the feature, only change the way we present it to you and to give more information regarding its popularity and waiting times. Here is what weve done:

  • Changed the matchmaking term to make game public
  • Added the information on how many players are online at that moment (including those in a match);
  • Added the estimated waiting time based on how many matches started recently (wich is, admittedly, not the best way to estimate this, but we hope it still helps);


We hope these changes will help players manage their expectations better and have a clearer idea of how to use it and whether they want to wait for other players or not.

OTHER CHANGES


  • Dirty Plumbing modifier can no longer fill up more than 2 consecutive buckets with good. The 5 dirty buckets when you most need it situation will no longer occur, and you are welcome :P
  • It is now possible to use the spray on yourself. Players just need to use it and, if they have no valid appliance nearby, the character will self apply the quarantine buff;
  • The hyperinflation modifier initial value was raised from 10 to 25 and the value increased each time something is bought was raised from 3 to 5;
  • The Free Market challenge is now considered positive, meaning it can now be mixed and played with other two negative challenges;

HOTFIX v1.2.3


  • Zen mode now works both on online and offline games. If the host has Zen mode on, the alien infestation and the ship will have its rules, but players that connect to that game will only have more resistant characters if they also have the mode turned on in their machines.
  • The end match screen will now show if youve played on zen mode;
  • The character selection screen also shows if the match will be in Zen mode or not;
  • The warning that used to say the Zen mode would be deactivated on online matches have been removed;
  • You can now invite players that have more than one roommate at their local lobbies, meaning playing 2 local + 2 local no longer requires matchmaking to work;
  • Fixed remapping feature that stopped working after an earlier patch;
  • Fixed an issue that caused rooms to reactivate without anyone opening its doors;
  • Fixed issue causing navigation problems while using a controller on the settings screen;
  • Fast Delivery rule for Weekly Challenges no longer removes the flying robots and the pizza from the shop;
  • An attempt to fix the issue that happened when you finished a match and went back to the lobby (invisible housemates). Please tell us if it keeps happening with you, this one is particularly hard to test because it is very inconsistent;

Hope you are all having fun with the game and thanks for all the support and patience during these past weeks. All of these fixes were possible thanks to the help of many community members and players that took their time to give us detailed information about them. You all rock :D

HOTFIX v1.2.2

ACCESSIBILITY MODE CHANGES

Thanks to Steven Spohn (Spawn), we got a lot of constructive criticism regarding the way we described the former accessibility mode. We wanted to address those issues right away and apologise to anyone who felt offended by it. Here is what we did:


  • It is now called Zen Mode: It was pointed to us that accessibility could imply that everyone who needs accessibility options wants an easier game, and that is not true. We now call it Zen Mode because it is an overall more relaxing way to play the game and we think it is more descriptive that way.
  • It has a new description: This was the major offender in this issue and, again, we are sorry by the way that description was phrased. It read like the game was judging or punishing you for turning that on, and that was far from our intention. Here is the new version of the description:

    Zen Mode reduces the difficulty of the game by making you more resistant and tuning down time-related mechanics, allowing you to focus on having fun! Turn this on to have a less stressful experience or for any other reason you desire! Want to proceed?

  • It will no longer block any achievements: We were initially afraid that people would exploit this option to get the achievements fast. By the end of the day we figured that if that was the cost for allowing everyone to experience the entire content, it was totally worth it. The game is at its best when it is challenging (not impossible) for you and your teammates, so have that always in mind before when deciding to use the Zen mode.
  • It can be turned on and off during matches: This was not possible because of the achievement limitations. Now they are gone, you are free to test them out on the fly! Note that this only works in local matches. We are studying ways to allow Zen Mode in online matches in the future, but it is not possible at the moment.


Weve learned a lot today and we figured it would be interesting to share the reasons behind every change with you all. That way we can all keep working to have more accessible games in the future.

WORKAROUND FOR CHINESE PLAYERS

We added a warning to instruct players on how to deal with the stuck at the menu issue that is currently affecting players from China. This is sadly not a fix, because the issue is caused by corrupt data sent by Windows itself and the game needs that data in multiple moments to properly work. Well keep on searching for a more definitive fix, but in the meantime, we thought it would be better to instruct everyone facing this issue on how to work around it. Patch Notes - v1.2.1

Here is a surprise to you all! While fixing a few issues we found out there was a whole pack of fixes that never made it to our live branch, so we compiled them all in this patch just so everyone can play the best version of Out of Space as soon as possible! Hope you all enjoy this unplanned patch and keep on cleaning houses haha.

IMPROVEMENTS


  • The floor now only shines if there are no Alien eggs over it;
  • Chinese localization has been updated and improved;
  • The height required to teleport an item back to the ship due to being lost in space is now higher, to avoid unnecessary teleports;
  • The Rug size has been slightly increased to make sure the are no lines of dirt visible on room corners (my OCD is very happy with this);


BALANCE

  • Selling food now rewards a proportional value if that food is already partially eaten (and yes, we know.. well miss this too D: );


BUG FIXES


  • [COM] Fixed an issue with the progression file that could cause the game to crash if your computer is synced with non-Gregorian calendar dates (like in Thailand, for example);
  • [COM] Aliens will no longer become invisible and reaper for no reason whatsoever;
  • [COM] Players no longer automatically start sweeping when receiving a mop for the first time;
  • Players will no longer respawn walking inside the shower if they previously died walking;
  • Spiky Aliens can no longer damage through the doors;
  • [COM] Fixed issue that caused the aliens stun effect and wings to not be on the right size or state when the players enter rooms;
  • [COM] The needs cleaning balloons that appear on dirty appliances will now always disappear after the appliance is washed;
  • The denied balloon now hides properly as well;
  • Fixed the issue causing the Recyclers texture to change by attempting to unbuild it while using;
  • [COM] The ventilation shaft can no longer be dirty without any visual indication of that state, especially in online matches;
  • The Aliens will not target ventilation shafts anymore;
  • [COM] The ventilation shaft now always stops shaking when it is clean (it used to keep on shaking sometimes);
  • Fixed issue causing food and trash to be sold by the wrong prices when inside a fridge;
  • [COM] Possible fix that should prevent the egg explosion animation to still play even if you washed it a second before it hatches;
  • Eggs will no longer play the hatching animation if they are hidden by the fog;
  • The restart match confirmation window can no longer be opened multiple times if the player clicked fast enough;
  • Highlight no longer flickers when there are enemies nearby;
  • Online players will no longer shake their hands while holding objects (this was very subtle, but it happened);

Out of Space: Mutations Update! (v1.2)

Hi everyone! Hope you have been enjoying Out of Space so far, because we are here to bring some exciting news :D

OUT OF SPACE ON CONSOLES!



Youve been asking us quite frequently when Out of Space would be released on consoles, and now the answer for that question is TODAY! Out of Space: Couch Edition is now available for Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 and Xbox One, so prepare to take your housecleaning team to the living room.

The Couch Edition is an offline only version of the game and it has every local content ever released for PC, including the new aliens from todars update. We really hope those of you that have been waiting to mop aliens around a lot of fun with the console version as well! And now, to the Mutations update content :)

FIVE NEW ALIEN TYPES!

These aliens have been extensively tested in the beta branch and we can safely assure you they will spice your matches up. From now on, every time a regular alien starts mutating, it will hatch out as one out of six total mutated aliens, including the already known Flying Alien. The combination of the aliens that can be found inside rooms will certainly make each match feel more unique and challenging than ever!

Here is the full list of the alien types currently available:

Regular Alien

This is how every alien in the game is born and most of you are well acquainted with them. Cockroach-like creatures that walk around the house, gooing the floor and powering off your rooms. They are not violent towards players but that does not mean they are not dangerous.

Spitter



Used to be the only type of mutation in the game. They will attack players on sight, flying in their direction and spitting goo until you are nothing but a jumping cocoon. They are also very vulnerable to buckets of water, but mop attacks wont reach them.

Swimmer



These aliens evolved to not only be resistant to, but to thrive on contact with water. Hitting them with water will increase their movement speed, make them fearless and even wake them up from previous stuns.

Bulky



These resistant creatures are invulnerable to mop hits until their shells are temporarily softened with a bucket of water. One needs to act fast, though, because the shell will harden back to its invulnerable state in no time.

Spiky



Mutated aliens with spikes on their shells. They are just as vulnerable to attack as regular aliens, but touching them - which includes grabbing and bumping into them - will get players dirty. Oh, and remember to carry them with caution, otherwise your friends might get hurt.

Leader



Do not let its fancy looks fool you, these aliens are not playing around. They give movement speed to nearby aliens and encourage them, granting them invulnerability to dog barks. You do not want to face an army of aliens led by these royal fellas, believe me.

Snoozer



With snoozing spores being released from their back, these mutated aliens will constantly drain your energy until you cant help but fall asleep. Countless cases of house owners having their house destroyed while they are unconscious have been reported and blamed on Snoozers, so avoid getting too close while the spores are still active.

Patch Notes v1.1.2

Hi everyone! Here are the patch notes for this update along with a very important message to all of you:

SLOWING THINGS DOWN

When we released this game in early access, we werent really sure for how long we would be able to maintain it there. We just knew it had a lot of potential in it and that getting community feedback would definitely guide us to the right direction. Thanks to your support, we had exactly 10 months of early access before finally releasing the game and, even after the release, we still managed to keep updating the game and improving it based on all the insights the community sent.

It was a total of 27 patches so far, 12 of them bringing major additions and changes to the game. From online multiplayer to house decorations, weekly challenges to robot companions, all this time made Out of Space way bigger and better than what was originally planned. Not to mention the numerous hotfixes released whenever something serious came up lol. Anyway, my point is that it has been a hell of a ride! Thank you for that.

Now we are aiming for another huge goal that requires our attention: taking the game to consoles. This is no easy task, especially with everything that is happening in the world this year, so it is very hard to have any level of certainty regarding this process. Regardless of that, to reduce the chances of delaying the porting any longer than necessary, we will need to slow down our work on the PC/Mac/Linux versions of Out of Space.

From now on, we will keep up bug reports and suggestions, but updates will be more spaced out than before and will become more focused on fixes too. We are very grateful for the support youve given us and we hope to bring you some exciting news soon! Until then, here are all the fixes and improvements from patch v1.1.2.

BETA WITH EXCLUSIVE CONTENT

While we work and wait for the porting process to end, everyone is welcome to play the game with new types of aliens! All you have to do is to go to Out of Spaces properties on Steam, then click on Betas and opt into the beta (no password required). This will grant you access to new alien mutations that will take part on a future update beforehand. Hope you all enjoy them :D



IMPROVEMENTS


  • [COM] The Watering Bot:

    • Will no longer try to clean unreachable players;
    • Now avoids going to sinks too far away unless they need to;
    • Also gives up on getting buckets that are inside of showers;
    • Grabs the closest bucket, regardless if it is full or not;

  • [COM] Added an option to choose between US and EU servers for matchmaking (it used to always connect to the one with the lowest ping);
  • Now the animation of falling asleep is canceled it another players wakes you up right when you fall;
  • [COM] Eggs spawn on doors will now pause for a while if any player has thrown water into that specific door recently;
  • Aliens will now stop their getting things dirty animation if they are pushed away from the original targets;
  • The Chef/Watering Bots will no longer show the out of energy balloon when they are not going back to base;
  • Players can no longer be pushed around by others when using appliances like the Recycler;
  • The Mixers animation is now better synced with the behaviour time;


BALANCE

  • [COM] The games difficulty now has a hard cap regarding how much harder it gets if the players take too long to finish a match. This was preventing the difficulty system to work in an impactful way in long matches;
  • [COM] The option to buy a battery at the shop was added on Secret Santa to avoid locking progression due to RNG;


BUG FIXES

  • [COM] It is now *very unlikely* that items will get stuck on players during online matches;
  • [COM] Items will no longer get stuck on Recyclers or Mixers;
  • [COM] Fixed a bug that caused players to instantly fall asleep when using the Exercise Bicycle while playing with Accessibility Mode on;
  • [COM] The ventilation shaft no longer spits dirt when they are clean;
  • [COM] Fixed the loading issue that caused the tutorial level to use weekly challenge rules and prevented the instructions to work;
  • Fixed issue that caused players to exit the Exercise Bicycle immediately after using them;
  • [COM] Aliens will no longer be deactivated as if they were in another room (making them disappear);
  • Fixed negative values popping from the money interface on online matches;
  • Food prices are now correctly calculated when selling them in a fridge;
  • [COM] Pizza can now be recycled;
  • Dog beds and robot bases can now be properly washed once they get dirty;
  • [COM] Fixed an issue that causes the dog to freeze completely for no apparent reason;
  • [COM] The Pumpkin Garden no longer occasionally spawns nothing while transgenic garden challenge is active;
  • Aliens will no longer get out of stun even with the stars effect over their heads;
  • Agents other than the player will now pause when a match ends (they used to keep on moving and making sounds);
  • [COM] The alien stun sound effect is now better synced with the hit itself and can be played multiple times to improve the hit feedback;
  • [COM] Players will no longer rest while the game is paused on single player matches;
  • Fixed an issue that allowed the first room of every ship to deactivate (it is not supposed to);
  • [COM] All the players sleeping on the floor during the uncomfortable floor challenge now results in game over;
  • The 3D audio now works properly on online matches (it used to follow only the host);
  • Fixed the "Flying Aliens without wings" issue;
  • Players leaving a lobby no longer sets other players ready;

Patch Notes v1.1.3

Hi everyone! A reworked difficulty system, a new pizza delivery service and numerous improvements are here to make your time with the game even more enjoyable! Here is what the v1.1.1 patch brings:

REWORKED DIFFICULTY

[COM] This game was always meant to be intense and, having many systems to learn, difficult for new players. Weve said that it is totally ok to fail the first matches until you get the grip of the game and it is not our idea to change that. What we aimed with this rework was to make sure the game responded better to how well the players are doing at any given point of a match while also preventing an infinite cycle of getting a room and losing it again.

Without getting into too much detail in here, it is safe to say that now new players will experience a more fair and well paced match while the hardcore players may find it more challenging and intense. We are also using this system to further reduce the perceived difference in difficulty while playing alone compared to playing with a full party. We really hope you all have a great time with it :D

PIZZA PLANET DELIVERY

How can you have the complete experience of sharing a space apartment with your friends without being able to order a pizza? The short answer is you cant. That is why weve added a delicious pizza at the shop so you and up to three other friends can share in moments of need. Just like in real life, it is not as efficient as cooking, but we all know sometimes you just dont have the time to cook and having a delivery option is always handy!



IMPROVEMENTS


  • [COM] The tutorial is now completely optional and we added a new unlockable as a reward to those that finish it :D
  • [COM] Added a new Armchair skin to the game;
  • [COM] All the available servers were now added to the settings options and are applicable to any private game! The current list includes Asia, Australia, Canada-East, China, Europe, India, Japan, South Korea, Russia, Russia-East, South America, USA-East and USA-West.
  • [COM] Now all steam achievements will be synced with the in game achievements from time to time, to avoid discrepancies;
  • Increased the amount of times some of the information is sent during online matches to reduce disconnections due to package loss;
  • [COM] Buckets now have the same priority level as mops when you try to grab them (it is easier to swap between them now because of that);
  • The Pumpkin Garden no longer destroys the item over it when it is deconstructed;
  • The countdown that happens when making a lobby private is now reduced when there is only the host inside the said lobby;
  • Aliens can now push objects away, so they should not get stuck on trash bags or boxes anymore;
  • [COM] The Cleaner Bot cannot be picked up by players anymore, since that had little use and caused many accidental grabs;
  • [COM] Weve implemented an improved deadzone on controller analogs to prevent it from turning the player to the wrong side when throwing a Bucket of water;
  • [COM] Both Chef and Watering bots will now show the out of power balloon until they are fully charged, so players dont think it is just unresponsive;
  • We now introduce the accessibility mode right after the tutorial, to make sure no one suffers through the difficulty of the game unnecessarily;




BALANCE

  • The adaptive music is now improved and has more possible players (this should be more noticeable at the start of matches);
  • Alien eggs can now spawn both at doors and on the dirty floor at any given time (it was previously limited to one or another, depending on the game state);
  • Flying Aliens were slightly buffed to make their presence more impactful in the game:

    • Some of them may wait a bit before rushing to attack players, making those one-bucket-stuns-all-aliens moves harder to pull off (and more rewarding when you do);
    • Their spits hit a bit harder, from of the dirtiness limit to . This does not affect the damage you take when stepping over the goo they spit on the floor.
    • The amount of dirt it spits on the floor was also slightly increased;

  • [COM] Doors between a powered room and a corridor can now spawn aliens if it is dirty (having a door like that as the only dirty door is no longer harmless);
  • [COM] The Chef Bot no longer takes raw fruits to players when they are hungry, only cooked food and pizza;
  • [COM] The Watering Bot will no longer clean something that has just been cleaned by another bot (like three of them cleaning the same shaft) This was causing a severe drop in performance and had to be postponed to a hotfix or to the next patch;
  • [COM] Both the Chef Bot and the Watering Bot will no longer go charge until they have not holding any items;
  • Both the Chef Bot and the Watering Bot now have more energy to spend before having to recharge;
  • The bandwidth cost of having too many aliens on screen during an online match is now split between all players in an attempt to make the game lighter on the hosts connection;
  • [COM] Aliens no longer destroy buckets that are over sinks when they attack the sink itself;
  • The challenge item madness has now a reduced chance of spawning batteries and a higher chance of spawning aliens (we thought it was helping players too much);

BUG FIXES

  • [COM] Using the bucket while highly fatigued now properly cleans the floor, even if the player falls asleep at the moment they throw the water;
  • Fixed a bug that set the Mixer in an infinite loop of accepting multiple inputs but never producing any battery;
  • [COM] The shop is now automatically closed if the player that is using it dies for any reason;
  • [COM] Shafts no longer drip goo when it is clean;
  • Buckets can no longer rotate when they are dropped by Watering Bots (only a visual issue);
  • Rooms and corridors no longer get dirty when they go out of the screen (there was yet another thing triggering that);
  • [COM] Fixed issue preventing players from inviting others after starting matchmaking and making the lobby private again (they would get a waiting for server message);
  • [COM] Fixed problem that would show the weekly challenge checkbox for new players instead of properly hiding it until the challenge is unlocked;
  • [COM] Spending money on the shop no longer pops unnecessary numbers in the interface of online players (as if it was adjusting the value constantly);
  • [COM] The dirty effect is now properly displayed on dog beds, Chef and Watering Bots bases;
  • Players can no longer pet the dog while holding food;
  • [COM] Fixed the host key icon showing up for more than one player on lobbyies;
  • Lamps hologram no longer taunts the Aliens;

Out of Space: Robotics update! (v.1.1.0)

Hi everyone! We are back with a recovered and happy team! And this update is our way to thank you for all the support and priceless feedback we got since the release :D Here is what the v1.1.0 patch brings:

CYBER ROOMIES

[COM] You can now buy two new robots to help you on your daily tasks! Each will automize part of processes that can lead you to be overwhelmed during a match at the cost of building a proper setup for them to work.

Watering Bot R2


  • Fills empty buckets with water;
  • Cleans dirty appliances including shafts and power outlets;
  • Cleans dirty players too;
  • Wakes up players that fell asleep on the floor;
  • Dont expect it to help you dealing with aliens (these are NOT combat robots);

Cooking Bot D2

  • Picks up and store food in Refrigerators and Tables;
  • Cooks Fruits and Aliens to make sure you dont starve to death;
  • Takes food to you when you are feeling hungry;
  • It wont wake you up from starvation nor pick Aliens up from the floor, though;

Each new bot will be locked behind new achievements that will become available to anyone who already won a medium-sized or larger ship.



IMPROVEMENTS

  • [COM] The input used to click the start match button no longer defines the controller you need to use on the match (it would sometimes prevent some controllers from working);
  • [China only] Weve changed the method to lock the servers based on the region for Chinese players, so that if you play the game in Chinese but live outside of China, you will not be affected by it anymore;
  • Rooms now only become active when a player open its doors (instead of when you wash the doors), as a way to make opening the room a more surprising and exciting moment;
  • Shafts will sync up their animation stages more often, to avoid inconsistency with the visuals and its logical state;
  • The system made to teleport lost items back to players now requires them to be a bit higher (so items dont teleport needlessly);
  • The collision area of some appliances were reduced to make it easier to walk around the ship;
  • The value of the money made by recycling or using the bike now pops closer to the appliances themselves, interface wise.
  • Added a new event for our analytics so we can better understand the cause behind the disconnects some players are facing during online matches;

BALANCE

  • [COM] The Mixer now requires 5 organic inputs before giving a battery back (we wanted to have a smaller impact in the games pacing and economy than before);
  • Recycling appliances now only give back 35% of their value on the shop (down from 50%);
  • [COM] The Exercising Bicycle was reworked to encourage more team play and become less of an all powerful non-cooperative money solution:

    • In single player, it had its value per tick reduced from 5 to 4;
    • In multiplayer, the value per tick was reduced from 5 to 3;
    • In multiplayer, the time between ticks was slightly increased;
    • Now the bike grants a bonus 1 for each players using an exercise bike simultaneously and in the same room as you are (for instance, having 4 players on bikes that are on the same room will get 3+3 per tick each);




  • [COM] Multiple items on the shop got their prices reduced (to make them more viable and attractive):

    • Nightstand from 20 to 10;
    • Shower from 25 to 20;
    • Couch from 22 to 20;
    • Exercising Bicycle from 25 to 15;
    • Power outlet from 15 to 10;
    • Spray from 15 to 10;

  • Changed the maximum number of items the Refrigerator can store from 21 to 20 (the 21th was allowed due to a bug, to be honest);

BUG FIXES

  • [COM] Fixed the issue causing cocooned players getting teleported to themselves and causing the camera do flicker frantically;
  • [COM] Fixed that *slightly annoying* issue causing some online players to be unable to lay down on Couches, Beds and Armchairs on the first time in interact with them;
  • [COM] Some key interface elements on the menus no longer block other buttons while playing on ultrawide resolutions;
  • [COM] Tables no longer get items stuck on players during online games;
  • [COM] Winning a weekly challenge now grants you the achievement reward even if you did not unlock the challenges yourself and also unlocks other ship sizes retroactively;
  • [COM] Disconnecting with the shop open no longer causes a soft lock in the game;
  • The Refrigerator interface is now considered in the camera so it never opens itself outside of vision;
  • [COM] Items no longer get stuck on Recyclers if the player using it falls asleep or starving;
  • [COM] Fixed the fog problem that made some rooms always visible, even if deactivated;
  • The ready status on lobbies now reset when an online player leaves said lobby;
  • The Supply and Demand challenge now increases prices as it should, starting from 25 and raising by 10 each time you buy a given item;
  • Fixed problem causing multiple players to spawn on the same spot at the start of the matches;
  • One player can no longer cause other to float next to a bike on online games (the exact cause is hard to explain, but you probably know what I mean);
  • [COM] Fixed issue causing the Cleaning Bot to respawn in the wrong place when players moved its base to another room;
  • [COM] Leaving a lobby as a host no longer forces the other players to set themselves as ready;
  • [COM] The tooltip that appears when pressing info while holding an Alien now displays the correct text;
  • The Plants buff effect is now destroyed after you deconstruct it;

Patch Notes v1.0.2

Hi everyone! The situation has not been exactly ideal since our last update, but we are slowly getting back to where we used to be (in terms of development, because physically we are all still at home lol). Marcos is now being able to work again and an old Beholder, Alexandre(programmer), came back to help us in this time of need :D Thank you all for the support and patience! Here is what the v1.0.2 patch brings:

Matchmaking Changes
[COM] Since launch, weve discussed a lot about how to make the online matchmaking experience better for you. The odds of finding someone to play with were not high and that caused frustration for many players. So, with the help of our Discord community, we came up with an attempt to improve that:


  • Public matchmaking will now only use two servers (US and EU) and connect you to the one with the lowest ping between those two;
  • Private matchmaking (like inviting friends) still connects to the same servers as before;
  • Changing from Public to Private will carry you and every other player in the lobby to the server you chose in the game settings;
  • Going Public with friends, on the other hand, will take you all to either US or EU server, depending on which one is closer to the host;
  • Both server changes take a few seconds to happen and a counter has been added to inform players when it is happening;
  • None of these changes apply to Chinese servers, unfortunately. Chinese players can still only connect to the Chinese server, regardless if the lobby is Private of Public;

We hope this change will help you finding players online, but we still suggest joining our Discord and getting the OoS-LFG role (info about this here) as the best way to find roommates.

Improvements

  • [COM] Playing larger ships now retroactively unlocks smaller ship sizes that you havent played yet. For instance, winning a large map unlocks both large, medium and small ships, even if you never played those before.
  • This might avoid players winning Weekly Challenges without unlocking the achievements due to the matchmaking allowing the host to create matches of any size regardless of what the other players have unlocked or not;
  • [COM] Fruits spoiling and Flying Aliens spits no longer get the faucet dirty, preventing an unlikely, although annoying, soft lock;
  • [COM] Doors timer to automatically close when the room has no battery in it has been reworked to avoid having a door closing right when you were about to go through;
  • [COM] Opening the shop now automatically adjusts the camera to avoid having players hidden behind the interface (!!!);



  • [COM] The first room in every ship will no longer totally deactivate. This avoids a soft lock some new players were facing while not making the game any easier for veteran players;
  • [COM] Passed out players can no longer fall asleep as well. This happened in very rare occasions, but resulted in that players not being able to be resurrected by other players;
  • [COM] Players no longer pass out while holding items that are not food. If it is holding a fruit and, for some reason, that fruit is not dropped when he falls, the player will automatically eat it and come back to the game;
  • [COM] The Mop now floats when thrown into space like every other item in the game;
  • Every item that clips through walls or through the floor due to any physics glitch will now teleport back to the closest player;
  • [COM] The collider for the alien eggs has been reduced so players dont get stuck due to an alien spawn as often;
  • [COM] Added the icon of a cocooned player in the Refrigerator interface;
  • [COM] Players are no longer permanently destroyed if their cocoon is inside a Refrigerator that gets recycled;
  • The achievements bars now update linearly and do not reset its visual progress every time they appear at the end of the match;

Balance

  • The Weekly Challenge rule Let me sleep! has been temporarily removed from the rotation until we fix all the issues surrounding it;
  • [COM] Recycling Refrigerators now reward the players with the recycling value of everything inside plus the regular recycling price of the Refrigerator itself. This makes it a very viable option to recycle multiple items at once.



Bug Fixes

  • [COM] Fixed issues causing some controllers to stop working while navigating the menus;
  • [COM] Added a small delay to restarting a game so it can properly unload everything. This should fix those match restarts where the host couldn't build anything;
  • Canceling the resurrection of a player at the recycler no longer sends the cocoon flying away;
  • Fixed an issue causing the player to get stuck after petting a dog while its bed is being disassembled;
  • [COM] Mouse cursor size has been fixed for MacOS and Linux players. This was a HUGE deal (sorry for the pun);
  • Added a new system to better check and synchronize the items that each player is holding at online matches;

Patch Notes v1.0.1.b1

EDIT: Seems like this patch caused an issue with inviting friends. We rolled back to the previous version and, as soon as the issue is fixed, version 1.0.1 will be back on the live branch. Thanks for the patience <3

How is everyone doing? Things are a bit crazy around here with all this COVID-19 thing and with our programmer Marcos, AKA BugSlayer, having a medical leave. Those two things are not related, by the way! Marcos is safe, only dealing with an unrelated medical issue. Please send good vibes to him, anyway :)

Now talking about the good stuff, weve got some improvements to Out of Space that we thought you would appreciate! The feedback and bug reports from the community have been awesome and we still have plenty to work on, so expect more fixes in the next weeks.


  • Fixed the issue causing players to fail to join a room with the same team after a finished match (best known for the unable to join room notification);
  • Added a check to avoid the game from not recognizing when a specific weekly challenge has already been done or not (this might help with the not getting the achievement issue);
  • Reduced Beds obstacle size, so it doesnt block the way as much as it used to;
  • Added a new weekly challenge rule, the Fast Delivery, to balance out the number of positive and negative rules and avoid randomizing broken keys;
  • Now, when playing a challenge with the Uncomfortable Floor rule, all players falling asleep on the floor results in a game over (it was causing a soft lock before);
  • The Dog bed appliance now drops the food that was on the pot when it is disassembled;

Friend Invite for Online Multiplayer available!

Hello everyone!

This launch was a diffcult one. But now everything is running smooth as intented. You can now play singleplayer, local multiplayer, invite your friends for a private match and/or start matchmaking for a public game.



This last 24 hours we had a big issue with a infinite loop running in our game due to a specific feature using Steam API servers. We had never had this problem before during the whole Early Access program, but in the launch day of the game we had this issue. Day 1, could you believe it?

Hotfix Day 1 - v1.0b5

Hello everyone!

We've just updated the game with the version 1.0b5. Since yesterday, something happened to Steamworks server API, a service provided by Steam, that made a lot of games crash when trying to connect to Steam services, like friend invite and getting players name, for example.

We needed to remove Player Invite for this fix, so you can all play the game without the blue screen.

We're trying to fix this problem right now, please, bear with us.

Out of Space released!

Out of Space 1.0 patch is here!

It is just crazy to see how far we've gotten with your help and the team is just eager to see more people playing Out of Space for the first time. Thank you all so much for all the help and here are all the improvements from this last week of Early Access!



Improvements


  • Added a custom cursor in the game!
  • The Flying Alien egg now spawns closer to the floor;
  • The SFX that plays for powerless electrical appliances now plays when the energy is cut off instead of every time the balloon appears;
  • Added an item spawn sound for things that grow on the pumpkin garden (if you've played the last challenge, you know why I didn't just say fruit there);
  • Removed the early access warning from the splash screen :Added Behold's logo as a new splash screen;
  • The weekly challenge text now has an extra font to improve legibility;
  • Compendium screen no longer cuts out the last achievements and now only moves one achievement for every button press (it was skipping them for going too fast);
  • Changed the pause menu title color for better legibility;
  • Added a deconstruction SFX;
  • Reduced Bed's collider to avoid players from getting stuck between it and a wall;
  • The Flying Alien's egg now disappears after it explodes (it had a small delay that looked weird);


Balance

  • Players speed was increased by 5%;
  • Enemies can now target quarantined appliances and will keep focusing them until they manage to get them dirty;


Bug Fixes

  • [COM] Yet another tweak on the navmesh to try and avoid invisible walls from appearing (if this persists, it was definitely not for lack of trying lol);
  • Fix issue that caused some purchases not to be delivered on high latency games;
  • [COM] Added a new check to avoid players from sleeping/exercising without playing the proper animation;
  • The Recycler now shows items that are queued for recycling once again;
  • [COM] Fixed the broken character that was at the start of every patch note text in the game menu for a while;
  • Fixed the issue causing the Macrowave to play the starting SFX every time a player was close to it;
  • Fixed the problem with the SFX for things porting back to the porch not playing reliably;
  • Removed the porting back VFX for items that did not come back (like trash bags and aliens);
  • Fixed the typo for "when" at the loading screen;
  • Mama Beaver "voice" now properly stops playing every time you go back to the menu after starting the tutorial;

    Out of Space is coming Out of Early Access!

    Hello spacial roommates! This is it, the big day is almost here. Out of Space will come out of it's Early Access phase in February 26, while we show the game on PAX East!



    We are VERY proud of what we all manage to achieve with Out of Space during the Early Access time and it is hard to really stress how important the feedback from all of you was for us! We honestly could not have gotten the game this far without the help of all of you. When we thank our community of playing in the game's credits, we mean it.

    But, you might wonder, what exactly is going to happen and how will it affect you all? Well, here is a short list with a few answers:


    • No, we will NOT abandon the game. If everything goes well, we might even have a future content update for it! But honestly, that depends on things we cannot control, so lets just hope for the best and leave promises for another day;

    • Expect more people to join both our community and our servers, so finding new friends to play will be much easier than today;

    • There will be no more regular updates like we used to have, but impactful bugs will still be fixed for as long as possible;

    • This also means it is far less likely that the game will somehow break and cause problems for you all playing it regularly;

    • Our team will now start a new journey with a brand new game, and since being closer to you all was so damn good this time, we are surely going on a similar path with the next project. Expect to hear about it soon!


    THANK YOU so much! This has been a hell of a ride and we just can't wait to see how the release goes and to see more people having fun with this game that has a small piece of every one of you in it :D

    Patch Notes v0.9.4

    Hi everyone! A huge thanks to everyone sending us bug reports and helping us improve the game even further! This is what was added to the game in patch v.0.9.4. As usual, items tagged with [COM] were changes based on community reports and feedbacks!

    Improvements


    • Added a button on the Compendium screen to show the credits;
    • You can now skip the credits by pressing and holding the back button;
    • [COM] The system that set where it is possible for players and AIs to walk on has been reworked, which *may* have fixed the invisible wall bug that we have tried to fix many times before lol;
    • [COM] Rework in Cleaner Bots AI to reduce the chances of getting stuck on corners and/or appliances;
    • The camera now stops following cocooned players thrown into space;
    • Cocooned players can no longer control their trajectory after they are thrown into space, so inertia works as it should and throwing friends there becomes more satisfying;
    • Added some new elements to the menu background scene;



    Bug Fixes

    • [COM] Added a fallback font for some interfaces that were not compatible with the main fonts of languages that had special characters;
    • [COM] Fixed an issue causing some eggs that spawned on the floor to prevent a door from getting cleaned;
    • Fixed the bug causing Flying Aliens to sometimes have wings smaller than usual;
    • Removed the looping sound effect of the stunned aliens that kept on playing after the alien was recycled.
    • Added an extra check to avoid appliances on corridors to get dirty after the room is deactivated (this started happening after the performance improvement from the last update);
    • [COM] The camera no longer considers the spot where a player died as a relevant point to show on online matches (it was keeping that spot in focus even after the cocoon was removed);
    • [COM] Fixed an issue causing building holograms to have physics and, therefore, become extremely difficult to aim and build;
    • [COM] Pumpkin Gardens no longer display two fruits for clients on online matches;
    • Laps no longer lure aliens on hologram mode;

    Cleaning the House 2 update! (v0.9.3)



    Hi everyone! Welcome to our second round of Cleaning the House! As we move closer and closer to an actual release date, we wish to make all the features we have in the game as bug-free and polished as possible grows stronger. This update is a compilation of every change, enhancement and fix we implemented and sent throughout the month, so if you have not played the game for a while, it might be a great moment to jump back in and tell us your thoughts on the current state of Out of Space :D

    Improvements


    • [COM] The mop now has a priority check when stunning aliens, giving preference to aliens that are not yet stunned and then to the ones closer to getting back from a stun;
    • [COM] Heavy optimization round check both for local and online matches, reducing internet usage demand and processing usage;
    • Rework on how the position of Aliens and Dogs are synchronized in online matches to prevent them from jumping and teleporting around, visually.

    Bug Fixes

    • Fixed an issue causing some aliens to teleport out of a Refrigerator to a VERY far away spot in the game world. The games performance would suffer severely anytime this happened, so this just might have fixed the fps issues reported in the late game by some players;
    • [COM] The bug that allowed more than one player to interact with the Refrigerator at the same time has been successfully fixed as well :D
    • [COM] Bug making the Bucket and the Mop to be eligible for recycling during the Secret Santa challenge was also fixed;
    • [COM] Fixed issue causing players to be instantly disconnected from a game if they were playing on a keyboard and a controller connected to the same computer turned off;
    • Players that are not the host on online matches can now pet the Dog too;
    • [COM] Fixed the issue causing some icons on the Refrigerators interface to not properly appear for clients on online games;
    • The sound for choosing a character will not played twice anymore;
    • Fixed issue causing some interface sounds to never play after the game dynamically changed on the matchmaking screen;
    • It is no longer possible to change other players character on online matches if you have more than one controller connected locally;

    • FIXED a different issue causing some items bought not to be delivered as they should (this time it was related to an interface change we did on the last patch);
    • Added a dialog window to confirm the AFK auto-kick (it allows players prevent getting kicked by giving any input to the game);
    • Cocoons no longer remains in the game after the player inside it has been auto-kicked for inactivity;

    Patch Notes v0.9.2

    So this is the last time we are having an offline-focused update since the game is finally going to the porting team. Most of what well do from now on will be affecting the online multiplayer aspect of Out of Space and we are glad to have some time to polish that up too! As you might already know, we are getting closer to a full release and now, more than ever, we could really use your feedbacks and bug reports to make sure the game is rock solid when it comes out of Early Access!

    Improvements


    • [COM] The doors on the porch will no longer have their levers hidden by an external decoration;
    • [COM] The Shaft now starts dripping goo when it is completely dirty to show the players how it works;
    • [COM] The Shaft also starts to shake 5 seconds before its major goo spit, as an anticipation to avoid getting hit by the spit without a proper warning;
    • [COM] Dirty doors now have the water here balloon on them, to help new players learn how to open them;
    • The decoration Nightstand had its size reduced to better fit the rest of the appliances in terms of proportion;
    • [COM] Now the controlling player can leave a local lobby and one of the other players will take its place;
    • We rolled back on the individual ready for local lobbies and now once the controlling player hits the ready button, every player sharing the same computer will be ready too (that did not work as well as we thought);
    • AFK players in online matches are now disconnected after 5 minutes of inactivity (and the game will be rebalanced to the new number of players);
    • AFK players in local matches leave the game after 1 minute of inactivity, but can come back at any time with the same character chosen before;
    • [COM] Buckets filled in the Shower are pushed forward to avoid accidentally activating the Shower instead of picking the Bucket up;
    • [COM] The interface for arrived items now disappears after 30 seconds, regardless if the item was picked up or not (to avoid too many of them from stacking up);
    • Players now drop the items on their hands when they get cocooned (I have no idea how we did not notice this before lol);
    • Mixers liquid color now changes according to the last input;




    Rebalance

    • [COM] Cleaner Bot will no longer work if the charging base is out of power, regardless if the bot itself has energy or not;
    • [COM] Having all players dead, but at least one of them getting respawned at a shower no longer causes a game over;
    • The Secret Santa challenge now have only one price for all items when you buy them in the shop ($25);
    • [COM] The ratio in which trash bags are generated have been rebalanced to favor early game and avoid useless trash (literally) in the late game;
    • [COM] The anticipation for the Flying Alien attack was reduced a little and a cooldown to its attack was added;

    Sound

    • Added multiple sound effects for things that were missing, such as:
    • Phone ringing sound for the tutorial;
    • Momma Beavers voice;
    • Character selection feedback;
    • Interacting with the menu interface in general;
    • The volume settings scrolling feedback;
    • Friend lists scrolling feedback;
    • Disassembling an appliance;
    • Spawning of items bought through the shop;
    • Using the Exercise Bicycle;
    • Every action the Cleaning Bot does;
    • Using the Refrigerators interface;
    • The new effect for opening the item info tooltip (and removed the sound played when it closed);

    Bug Fixes

    • Some achievement rewards descriptions were fixed;
    • [COM] The Secret Santa challenge no longer prevents some items to arrive after you buy them;
    • [COM] The Secret Santa challenge now allows players to sell items at the recycler normally;
    • [COM] Pumpkin Garden no longer keeps on growing fruits even when it dried out;

    Patch Notes v0.9.1 (+ HOTFIX)

    Happy new year, everyone (even for those who did not celebrate that yet)! This year brings many exciting things for us at Behold, but lets not get ahead of ourselves here. Since we came back from our break, we are fully focused on fixing what we didnt have time to fix before the holidays. We are now attacking mostly the offline bugs, since those affect everyone playing the game, but we should go back to the online multiplayer issues soon.

    Improvements


    • [COM] Added a priority in grabbing, so that trying to get important things like the Mob, the Water Bucket and Aliens is now easier;
    • [COM] The menu screen now gets the focus back to the buttons when a controller is used, even before the tutorial hasnt been finished;
    • The area cleaned by the water bucket now reflects better the water VFX it has;
    • The usage of network in online games is now significantly reduced due to better optimization;

    • Mixer now takes 50% more time to produce a battery after the input of the third organic item;

    Hey everyone! Sorry for taking that long to fix those, but we went on holidays break right after releasing the latest patch. Here are the fixes many of you wanted so badly and a big thanks for the patience!


    • FIXED issue preventing the shower from taking players off their cocoons when the Hardcore Housekeeping challenge was on;
    • FIXED bug that caused itens to get stuck in the hand of players that fell from hunger;
    • Fixed bug causing food to sometimes play the spoiling particle explosion animation in a loop on online games;
    • Issue causing items to not be delivered when you buy them during the tutorial was fixed once again;
    • Fixed issue that caused some doors to get dirty again after a bucket of water without any apparent reason;
    • Golden skins are now shown properly in the shop even if only one of the players have unlocked them;
    • New professional localization was added to the game, including Turkish as a new language to the collection;
    • Circle of Life challenge was rebalanced to reduce the chance of getting stuck on a loop of starvation and fatigue;
    • Added an extra check to avoid the now rare cases of soft lock due to doors closing behind the players;

    Out of Space: Holiday Update! (3/3) v0.9

    A happy Christmas/Hanukkah/Rohatsu/Mawlid el-Nabi/Solstice or whatever it is you celebrate during the end of the year! This is the last update of the year and, since weve had three consecutive updates on Out of Space in the last weeks, we are also linking the patch notes for those changes at the end of this post. We are taking a break from development until next year, so we hope you all have fun with the game until then! Oh, please dont hate us if any wild bug appears while we are out. We got families and personal things to attend to, but well be back soon enough :)

    Improvements


    • Accessibility Mode has been rebalanced to bring back a few challenges that were lost in the last version. Please tell us if you feel this mode is now better or worse with them;
    • [COM] New achievements were added to the game! Four related to the weekly challenges, the former win a weekly challenge achievement was changed and a new hidden achievement was added too;
    • Five new special appliance skins were added to the game and can now be unlocked along with the new achievements;
    • [COM] Buckets can now clean eggs spawning on the other side of the door, so players wont see the door getting dirty again because of eggs hidden in the fog;
    • Local players now have to set themselves as ready individually now, instead of depending on the player one to do that.
    • Added new wall paintings for every type of room in the procedural generation;
    • Pumpkin Gardens will now finish growing any given item before stop working due to lack of water;

    Interface

    • [COM] Analog sticks will no longer occasionally skip an option on menus or settings screens;
    • Some dialog windows were adjusted to better fit its texts;
    • Fixed the positions where the money earned with the Recycler and the Exercise Bicycle give is shown on screen;

    Bug Fixes

    • [COM] Cleaning players no longer turn them into cocoons with the Hardcore Cleaning challenge active;
    • Fixed the position of the Fruit so it is centered again;

    End of the Year Patch Notes 2/3 (v0.9.0b2)

    Hi everyone! Here are the (late) patch notes for last weeks update! Weve gone through many things along that week, so please forgive for taking so long to post this. As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.

    Holidays update


    • Boxes of items in the game will have a new skin fit for the holidays. Well, at least for one of the things celebrated by the end of the year.


    Improvements

    • [COM] An Accessibility Mode was added as an option in the games settings. This makes the game significantly easier, which might be useful for players with motor or mental disabilities, kids or for people playing at parties with new friends. This feature still needs some iterations to become better balanced, so any feedbacks on this during this week will be very valuable;
    • [COM] You can now pet the Dog when he is lying in his bed, getting him back on but without restoring his hunger (you still need to feed him, ok?);



    • Added 4 new rules to the pool of modifiers for Weekly Challenges, including the Secret Santa rule that fits this holidays theme;
    • Doors no longer get focused by aliens and cant become dirty if hit by the shaft or anything else, really. It will only become dirty if the room becomes inactive, making that old design lock impossible to happen again;

    Rebalance

    • The Dog now recovers much more from sharing food through family portraits;
    • The Dog will now leave his bed when he has recovered 50% of his bar. This means:
    • It will spend less time resting every time it gets hungry;
    • It wont reach more than half energy without the player feeding him;
    • It will rest more frequently if the player is not feeding him;
    • It will get up more frequently when a player eats around him with portraits.

    Interface

    • [COM] Any button can be used to join in on the matchmaking screen;
    • [COM] The settings screen now gets the focus back to the controller properly;
    • [COM] The currency change effect is now played in front of the current currency HUD, just as it should;

    End of the Year Patch Notes 1/3 (v0.9.0b1)

    Hi everyone! Those of you that follow what we post on Discord might already know this, we are working differently in these weeks before we leave for the holidays. The plan is to have three weeks focused on bug fixing, polishment and general improvements with a new version of the game being released every Friday (instead of Thursday). As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.

    Improvements


    • [COM] Menu has a hard cap of 60fps, to avoid GPU overwork;


    Tutorial

    • [COM] Fixed issue causing the tutorial text to break when players skip steps by breaking the tutorial texts into modules;
    • Some texts were changed to adapt to this new modular structure;
    • [COM] Some steps were also redesigned to be a bit more failproof.

    • The settings screen now gets the focus back to the controller properly;

    • Fixed the double spawn for items in that affected the Item Madness challenge;
    • Fixed the issue causing item prices at the shop disrespect the Hyperinflation rule when it is first opened;
    • Fixed the bug that prevented some players to press ready on the matchmaking screen when attempting to play the Weekly Challenge;
    • Fixed (hopefully) the issue that caused the Dog to get broken while trying to eat/drink something inside the fridge or on a table;
    • We couldnt find out what was causing the items to keep going back into the players hands, but we implemented a check that will most likely fix that as soon as it happens;
    • The Dog now only drinks water from the bucket if it is really thirsty and will also become satiated with food for a while after eating too much (people were getting pissed off with our good boy and we dont like that haha);
    • The Item Madness challenge was rebalanced to reduce the chances for expensive items, so this weeks Challenge becomes, well, a bit more challenging;
    • Changed the color of the text that state the Weekly Challenge rules at the matchmaking screen.

    Out of Space update: Weekly Challenges! v0.8.10

    Hi everyone! How about some new challenges to bring more variety to the game? The weekly challenges are here and we are eager to see how many of you will manage to beat them. As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.



    WEEKLY CHALLENGES

    [COM] Many of you have been asking for additional challenges in the game. Some asked for new achievements, some for hardcore modes, some for infinite matches, but of all those great requests, the one weve been looking forward the most were the weekly challenges!

    This is a special type of match that will bring a new combination of modifiers to the game each week, always in a large ship that will be the same for everyone who plays them. Every challenge will randomize 3 out of a pool of game modifiers that can make the game both easier and harder, depending on how well the players can adapt their strategies. Here are some examples of the modifiers:


    • Item Madness: Every item generated by either cleaning, cultivating, cooking or mixing is random;
    • Free Market: all prices at the shop are random;
    • Dirty Plumbing: buckets have a chance of being filled up with goo instead of water at faucets and sinks;
    • Many other variants that can be combined to create somewhat mind boggling challenges =)

    Other types of challenges and those requests I mentioned above may still come in the future, but with the weekly challenges here, we now have a better structure to support them as they come.



    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS

    Interface

    • [COM] You can now choose from the skins you have available before buying anything in the shop. This new option is available by pressing;


    Bug Fixes

    • Fixed an issue that caused the game not to work properly when returning to the menu from the pause screen;

    Accessibility Patch I (v0.8.09)

    Hi everyone! This is a very important update for us and one that took a bit too long to arrive, but we are really glad it is here! This is the Accessibility update, part 1. As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.



    KEY BINDING!

    [COM] We lost count of how many times we though damn, we need key bindings in the game asap and how many people missed this feature during their playthroughs. Well, there is not need to wait anymore, because it is finally here! Im going to briefly explain how it works, but most of it is just like what you find in many games out there.

    The default controls are exactly the same as the ones we had in the game so far;
    Players will be able to set keys for both keyboard/mouse and controllers;
    Upon selecting the action you want to remap, controllers will ask you to release the analogs before actually pressing the desired key;
    The step above will not occur while remapping keyboard and mouse;
    The game will auto convert the new key binding to any other controller type you plug in;
    Mouse can only be set as a button input source. There is no way to use it to set direction or to use in game interface yet;
    Every interface and tutorial dialog will show the rebound key, according to the controller you are currently using (or at least the one used by the player 1);

    We are very curious to see what other layouts you people come up with, specially for the keyboard!

    You change things, things explode and you try to put out the fire haha. I admit this fix didnt come exactly hot, but it is here nonetheless!


    • FIXED the issue that caused players to get stuck when dying by dirt of hunger while interacting with appliances;
    • The Dog now takes a huge amount of time drinking water before it actually gets the Bucket empty. Good thing players wont lose their water every time, but the Dog will be rendered useless for longer;
    • The Recycler will no longer spit out items back if it cant recycle them for internet issues, instead;
    • Using the ping no longer causes the controller to rumble;
    • Fixed texture resetting to the default when players start disassembling an appliance but give up on doing so midway through;
    • Fixed TV textures and interface so they properly react to dirt;
    • Fixed the well known Mickey issue that caused some items to float close to players in online matches;

    Out of Space update: Quarantine! v0.8.08b4



    Hi everyone! Weve got some exciting new content coming up in this patch! A brand new Alien type and a new spray to prevent dirt and spawns are the highlights of what we worked on in the past days. As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.

    IS THIS A HALLOWEEN UPDATE?

    The simple answer is.. kind of. We are releasing this update the day after Halloween, but we only actually realised it was that close when it was too late to fully commit to a Halloween event or something like that haha. But, not to tell you all we didnt add anything related to the date, we have a carved pumpkin for you! Useful to.. uh.. scare anyone that wants to eat it? Go figure.



    OH GOD IT FLIES

    [COM] From now on, every alien can potentially transform into a more evolved and aggressive form. The Flying Aliens (we might give it a better name in the future haha) will fly around the room, spitting goo at players and eventually hitting appliances in the process. We wanted an Alien that would make encounters more diverse and thrilling, even for more experienced players.

    So here are a few informations about this new enemy:


    • Any regular Alien might eventually turn back into a bigger egg and come out as a Flying Alien;
    • It flies over other aliens (duh);
    • It seeks out players in order to attack them;
    • After a period of anticipation, it will spit goo directly in front of it, also getting a small area of the floor dirty;
    • It can only be stunned by a Bucket of water or a Dogs bark, but players can keep it stunned with the Mop once it is on the floor;
    • They run away from the Quarantine Spray, but only when the player is using it;
    • The longer you play a match, the higher the chances of encountering a Flying Alien;




    WHO YOU GONNA CALL?

    The bug busters? I guess.. Anyway, now the game has an awesome new way to deal with the alien goo and the spawns: the Quarantine Spray! It can be used to protect appliances from aliens, block doors to avoid spawns, make players temporarily immune to dirt or cause Aliens to flee from you while you spray it around like crazy!

    It is also the first consumable item in the game, meaning every time you apply it somewhere (by holding down use the button, much like disassembling something), it will be gone forever! I mean, you can still buy another one at the shop, if you want to. And in case you want to make them interactable again, you can just wash the quarantine effect off with a water bucket and get on with your life.

    Oh, and appliances on quarantine will become non-interactive but will keep working as they should. Passive buffs, for instance, will keep their effects on sprayed decorations. We hope you all enjoy this new defensive tool and make the best out of it!

    WE SHOULD CALL THIS DOG THE GAME

    And here are even more enhancements to the Dog that come with this update:

    • The Dog now drinks water from the bucket as long as it is close to it. Works pretty similar to the food on the floor, filing its energy, but leaving the bucket empty after a few seconds;
    • [COM] It also eats food in its pot as long as the pot is within range;
    • [COM] All foods will be entirely consumed when the Dog eats them in its food pot;
    • Family portraits now affects the Dog. It is part of the family, after all;
    • Added a slightly larger cooldown after each bark so it behaves a bit more like an actual dog;

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS

    Interface
    • [COM] The shop now shows who is using the shop by changing some colors depending on the player that is controlling it and by having an icon indicating the character as well. The players nickname is also shown in the new shop interface;
    • Dutch and Polish translations were added by the community;

    Balance
    • [COM] Exercise bike slightly increases hunger on use. It is important to eat healthy before exercises!
    • Refrigerator can now hold 20 items instead of 7;
    • The Pumpkin Garden now takes longer to produce a single pumpkin, but lasts twice as long without water;
    • Lamps now taunt Aliens to run towards them regardless of the state the enemy. As long as they manage to get the lamp dirty, that effect wears off;

    General
    • [COM] Unpowered doors now take longer to close back again on multiplayer matches, similar to the single player time;
    • The process of building decorations on the walls is now easier, specially behind other appliances;
    • Improved texture and animation for the faucet at the porch;

    BUG FIXES

    General

    • The Dogs animations for adjusting the food before eating has been fixed on online matches;
    • Fixed issue that caused some player animations not to play when interacting with some appliances;

    Patch Notes v0.8.07b8

    Hi everyone! These past couple of weeks were mostly focused on both getting the game back to a more stable state (if youve experienced freezes and crashes, you know what I mean haha) and on acting upon ideas and discussions that came while showing the game at BGS 2019. As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.



    THE WHALE IN THE ROOM

    We know that this game could sometimes be pretty heavy on your computer. Many have experienced frame rates dropping while playing for a long period of time and, most recently, some freezes and/or crashes. Firstly, we are really sorry if this happened to you! As soon as we saw the bug reports on this we started investigating the issue.

    The community helped a lot and we managed to at least notice a correlation between audio issues and the crash itself. The team, then, started working like crazy on optimizing Out of Space, something that would be good for the game, even if it didn't totally fix those problems. We still dont know for sure what caused the crashes and the performance drops, but here are a few things we did as an educated guess-kind of bug fix:


    • Weve updated our audio engine (FMOD) to a new version;
    • Players are now audio listeners to the game, something that should be working like this for quite some time, but we never managed to make work properly in the last version. This will make audio feedback more consistent and 3D audio work better;
    • Walking Aliens are now capped to send two walking animation SFXs at once, reducing the number of overlapping sounds that harmed performance so bad;
    • Players need to be a bit closer to a sound source to listen to it, something that also reduces the overlapping sound issue;
    • Weve removed many checks that were processed every frame so the game eats less processing power at any given time;
    • Things that would grow in numbers through a match, the Aliens for instance, were optimized in a way that having an overcrowded ship wont necessarily mean a 70% performance drop anymore :) The game still becomes a bit slower as more things are being processed and rendered on screen, but not as drastically as before.

    UNLIMITED POWER!

    [COM] Weve added a new item to the shop: an Outlet Extension! The idea is to allow players to expand a rooms range of possibilities and test out new setups for appliances. Now, theoretically, any room can become a 4-bikes-money-making-powerhouse or have several Pumpkin Gardens to be sure no one will ever die from hunger in that game. It is a pretty simple and easy to understand feature that increases the possible strategies for players.



    MORE DOG FEATURES BECAUSE YES

    I think we are pretty happy with where the Dog is right now, so we might start designing other pets instead from now on. Regardless of that, here are a couple of things we did to the good boy in this patch:

    • [COM] The Dog can now also eat food from the floor;
    • [COM] Now it now eats salad as well as other food types;
    • Now its boxes have a different model;

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS

    Interface
    • [COM] We changed the categories from a few items in the shop to better fit their requirements:
      • The Sink is now in the first tab, aside the Bucket and the Mop;
      • The Cleaning Robot is now in the electrical appliances tab, since it requires energy to work;

    • All the information balloons were reduced by 30% in size, due to some situations in which they would overcrowd the screen;
    • Now the first option in ship size is small (better for quick local matches, doesnt change much for online games);
    • Hunger and Fatigue balloons reduced by 7% to make the colored bar clearer;
    • The controls tooltip now works with every language properly (can be open by pressing zero);
    • Pause screen got a new title;
    • The Polish language was added to the game (thanks to the community <3);

    Balance
    • [COM] *TEST* The values earned from recycling objects in the Recycler got rebalanced to better meet players expectations when playing. We are waiting for feedbacks on this to know where to take this specific balance, but for now the changes are:
      • Pumpkin value decreased from 8 to 4;
      • Salad value decreased from 11 to 8;
      • Cooked Alien value decreased from 13 to 10;
      • Alien value increased from 3 to 5;

    • [COM] The Sink doesnt need power anymore, coming back to its previous state;
    • [COM] Boxes no longer take more time to be recycled than other items;
    • [COM] The Dog now eats salad as well as other food types;
    • Garden Pumpkins can no longer come as a random drop;
    • The Exercise Bycicle was added to the possible random drops;
    • We removed the random drops from the first room;
    • Becoming tired now slows players for only 10%, in oposition to the 20% we had before;
    • Enemies no longer run away from players that are not dangerous to them (like those who are not carrying a Mop or a filled Bucket);

    General

    • [COM] The Shower was completely remade as an attempt to make it work properly;
    • The Refrigerator now changes its lights to communicate if it is powered or not, in contrast to just showing if it had some item or not;
    • [COM] The interactions with the doors now hold you in the opening animation to avoid accidental double clicks that would close the door again;
    • [COM] Players that join local matches after they began get a random character with clothes colored corresponding to the active controller (instead of always spawning as a blue beaver);
    • [COM] Cocoon now also indicates the Recycler as a possible solution in its balloons;
    • Now eating only requires a button press instead of holding it down;
    • Some appliances textures got reworked to have a better contrast with the floors;
    • Player Cocoons got a new texture that creates a better connection between the cocoon and the alien goo;
    • Trash bags have a new texture as well;
    • [COM] Boxes now have 3 different types: the common, the dog box and the energy box (for items that require energy to work). The second type is definitely our favorite;

    BUG FIXES

    General

    • Mop and Bucket balloons no longer rotate along with the models when they are dropped in the floor;
    • [COM] A new check has been added to the doors in online games in order to make sure they are synchronized;
    • [COM] Players that fall from hunger can no longer have items other than food given to them;
    • [COM] Fixed bug that caused the Recycler to have an indestructible item in it;
    • The Cleaning Robot no longer cleans the floor while being held by other players (I wish I knew this was a thing before);
    • The Cleaning Robot no longer breaks after being stored in refrigerators or tables;
    • [COM] Fixed issues where some players would not be cleaned by the bucket in the porch (again);
    • Fixed an issue that caused the shaking doors animation not to play right before the door closes (the duration of this anticipation was also increased);
    • TV can no longer try to give a discount for items the player havent unlocked yet;
    • Shaft now properly pauses along with the rest of the game in the pause screen;
    • [COM] Both the Dog and the Cleaning Robots wont break anymore if the host leaves an online game;
    • [COM] The long doors no longer have a collider issue that enabled players to leave the ship through the walls;
    • The characters eyes close when sleeping and eating as they should, now;

    Fortunately, not many new game breaking bugs have come up since yesterday, so we could work on a few extra changes for the hotfix that will come up later today:


  • FIXED the issue where a recently bought bucket would not have gravity in it and would even block other boxes from falling on the porch (this was actually fixed yesterday);
  • The Exercise Bicycles money gain was decreased from 8 to 5 per tic so it remains a viable option for money but not the absolute best one;
  • Fruit now restores a little bit of hunger at the start of the animation to prevent players from passing out while eating;
  • TVs smart discounts got rebalanced a bit to become even more useful;
  • Fixed an issue that would crash the game when trying to resurrect another online player in the recycler;
  • Recycling Cocoons will no longer get the floor dirty;
  • Fixed the issue that caused the bucket to get stuck in the sink after disassembling the latter;
  • A few texts were fixed to better describe items and systems in the game;
  • Some logs were removed from the printing list, which can improve performance for some players, specially caused by overuse of CPU and/or Disk;
  • AFK players will now be automatically disconnected from the matchmaking after 3 minutes without player input in the game (a timer will pop up a few seconds before that so everyone has a chance to stay in a lobby if that person is just waiting for others to join);

    Patch Notes v0.8.06b6

    Hi everyone! In the past few weeks weve had a lovely increase in the number of players and, therefore, of bug reports and feedbacks. We also took some time to reevaluate our experience at PAX West and set some goals for this weeks patch! So here is what weve done and what will be available at Brazil Game Show next week! As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.

    COMBAT EVOLVED (PART 1)

    Time and again we see ourselves thinking of ways to make the interaction with Aliens during a game better, because right now we feel like opening a room with two or 10 bug plays out pretty much the same. With that in mind, all of the following changes were made to make the act of dealing with aliens more impactful, interesting and challenging, although we still got some way to go on that front.


    • Now the Mop can only hit one enemy per swing;
    • [COM] Hitting Aliens now knocks them back a considerable distance in a somewhat variable direction;
    • Added a new visual effect for hitting aliens with the mop;
    • The Dog only stuns one enemy per bark, but only spends half of the energy he used to before this patch (it is still OP, though);
    • The Dog has a small delay between barks so it doesn't become a stun machine gun.

    ABRA CADABRA

    Weve redesigned how the players interact with the doors in the game so they have more control over them and get less frustrated in general.

    • [COM] Doors can now be closed even in a powered room. They will remain closed or opened until the players interact with them again;
    • [COM] Opening a door automatically frees the players from the grip from now on;
    • Interacting with a powerless door while it is open will cause it to close, just like a powered one (just to be a bit more consistent);
    • [COM] Players can now interact with doors while holding items, causing the items to be dropped on the floor automatically.

    FROM DIRT WE COME

    The players can now save others from the Cocoon state by dropping them in the recycler. It is way less gory than you might imagine, though. The Cocooned player will come back to its original form dirty and the process will get both the Recycler and the player using it dirty as well. It is definitely not a clean process, but it will get the job done.

    This mainly avoids early deaths that result in a lot of waiting for the cocooned players and a lot of working to the ones trying to revive them. And also satisfies the sadistic ones among our player base a little bit haha.

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS

    • [COM] The Unusual Ways Achievements are now all unlocked at the same time instead of following a progression that prevented people from trying to beat more than one in a same match, making it easier for us to add more achievements in the future;
    • Shower now heals 10% of both Hunger and Fatigue to avoid falling for any of these during or right after using the Shower;
    • [COM] Time to get cleaned in the Shower reduced by half, since it was clearly the most time consuming appliance in the game;
    • [COM] When players fall from Hunger or Fatigue, the interface will now only show the main cause for the fall, to avoid confusing messages;
    • After falling, the stat balloon will now animate to reinforce the sense of urgency;
    • [COM] Eating food after falling from hunger now recovers two times more for a short period of time, to avoid getting stuck in the almost dying state for too long;
    • [COM] Cocooned players now have a shower balloon on them to better communicate how to save that player;
    • Trash bags dont come back after being lost in space (we didnt want to encourage this behaviour, but it was not fun finding trash bags on the porch all the time D: )
    • [COM] A small area of the floor is cleaned if a player passes over it (to avoid multiple players dying from the same hidden dirt spot in a given room);
    • [COM] Added a double check before making a player become dirty, so ridiculously small cells of dirt wont hit players running through them;
    • [COM] From now on, only Aliens can destroy plugged-in batteries by attacking the sockets. Other types of dirt sources like the Shaft and Exploding Eggs will only make the battery drop to the floor intact;
    • TV sales will now be always visible, regardless of where the players are in the ship;
    • [COM] Controller vibrations got reworked to better represent danger and send different signals to different situations;
    • TV sales will now be smarter, and have an increased chance of giving discounts on things that will help the players at any given moment;
    • [COM] Some appliances were slightly reduced in size to facilitate traversal in rooms full of them;
    • The end game screen now shows the amount of credits spent instead of the the former credits left counter.

    BUG FIXES

    Appliances

    • TEST: The Sink needs power to work now (we need to know what you think of that change, so please tell us after playing);
    • [COM] Fixed issues where aliens would, sometimes, become invisible after leaving a refrigerator;
    • Refrigerator now only shows the first item when it becomes powerless and opens its door;
    • [COM] Recyclers animation should no longer continue playing long after the interaction with it is finished;
    • [COM] Enemies no longer get a furniture dirty if its unreachable, which should prevent some phantom attacks that caused furniture to get dirt for no apparent reason;
    • [COM] Fixed issue that caused the Recycler to stop working when a player passed out while using it;
    • [COM] Network delay should no longer cause players to be able to use and deconstruct appliances at the same time (this should solve most of the Shower problems).

    General

    • [COM] FIXED rooms that were not connected to the rest of the ship (thanks for the patience with this, we know it was pretty bad);
    • [COM] Items no longer clip through the refrigerator when its door is closed;
    • [COM] Fixed issues that prevented online players to grab buckets as soon as they were bought (and just might have fixed the similar issue happening at the start of the match);
    • Fixed issue that opened the settings menu with no options selected;
    • [COM] We granted the Cleaning Robot the ability to clean under furnitures, so it wont get stuck trying to clan an unreachable spot anymore;
    • [COM] Fixed issue where the bucket would clean things for the player using it, but not for the other online players;
    • Fixed issue that caused some rooms not to get dirty after a long time inactive;
    • [COM] Fixed issue where trying to clean a door with the bucket would not work reliably;
    • [COM] Doors now have less space for simultaneous egg spawns;
    • Aliens are no longer deleted when they go to the porch and get close to the edges;
    • [COM] Fixed issue that prevented some appliances from being deconstructed unless the battery was removed from the room;
    • [COM] Eggs exploding animation no longer continues after throwing water at them.

    Kinda fixed

    • Doors shouldnt have to be cleaned twice due to desync on online matches anymore;
    • Cleaning players in the porch should now work properly right from the start of a match;
    • Items should no longer get stuck inside players on online matches due to desync;
    • The game should no longer freeze sometimes when getting back to the menu after a match;
    • It is way harder to break the recycler by deconstructing it and trying to use is simultaneously;
    • Several changes were made to the navigation mesh to drastically reduce the frequency of invisible walls (none of them worked :/ ).

    Out of Space update: Cleaning the House v0.8.05

    Hi everyone! As previously posted at our Discord Community, the team is going to take a small break from work starting tomorrow. We should all be back at September 16 (Monday), and to reduce the chances of having serious issues affecting players while we are gone, we decided to focus solely on game stability, optimization and bug fixes. Hence the Cleaning the House update was developed. As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.



    INFORMATION AND MORE INFORMATION!

    We already had tooltips explaining items when the player grabbed them for the first time in a match, the shop information and the compendium for items. To cover those situations in which the players would find a brand new item in a room, but couldnt find information about it once the tooltip disappeared, now that tooltip never leaves if the item is unavailable in the matches shop.

    Pressing D-pad UP or TAB/F also prints information about the item you are holding as well as the players status regarding hunger and fatigue. Those changes should facilitate the act of learning what any given item or appliance does.

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS


    • [COM] Optimizing the way positions are shared on online games;
    • [COM] The game now has an optional overlay that shows the controls for the game during gameplay. This feature was created for PAX, but we figured it might be useful to new players, so we left it there =) Pressing 0 (zero) toggles it on and off;
    • [COM] Every appliance now has a small cooldown that reduces the chance of more than one player interacting with them at any given time;
    • Once ready in the matchmaking, pressing the back button cancels the ready status instead of getting the player back to the menu;
    • Some minor errors that affected performance were fixed;
    • [COM] We doubled the network update rate, reducing the issues caused by data bottlenecking when too many things were happening at the same time.


    BUG FIXES

    General

    • [COM] Pressing Enter to resume the game with the keyboard no longer opens the pause screen instantly again;
    • Refrigerator now shows the proper items inside its model, reacting accordingly with what is currently selected in its interface;
    • [COM] Aliens stun counter now stop reducing when the game is paused, as they should;
    • [COM] Two players should no longer be able to grab the same item at the same time;
    • [COM] Table no longer makes items disappear and swapping items with it should be reliable even on online matches;
    • Fixed an audio issue where some effects would play in a never ending loop;
    • New events and better syncing on some audio effects to enhance the general experience;
    • [COM] Aliens now have a small extra time in which they can be grabbed after leaving the stun phase, what prevents players from grabbing them and getting thrown to the wall immediately after (AKA The Flash bug);
    • The Macrowave is no longer intractable when powerless;
    • Decorative textures for the Armchair, the Couch and the Bed are now synchronized to look the same to all players of the match;
    • Said textures no longer reroll when you disassemble and reassemble the appliance again.

    HOTFIX v0.8.04b5 - Invisible and partially stunned aliens fixed (hopefully)!

    General
    - Aliens should no longer push the players away if they grab them while not fully stunned. In fact, they should never be only partially stunned again;
    - Now both the language and the resolution options in the settings screen should save and print the chosen value properly;
    - Canceling the match start countdown after the jumping animation happens is not possible anymore;
    - Aliens should no longer become invisible depending on where they run to or where they are taken while stunned.
    - Objects clipping through walls should happen way less frequently now;
    - Aliens now reset their state if they stay running towards an obstacle for too long;
    - Exercising Bicycle now gets buffed by the bookshelf properly;
    - TV sales no longer stay in the shop after the TV got destroyed or deactivated;

    Patch Notes v0.8.04b2

    The hotfix released last Friday was pretty big, but that doesnt mean we dont have new things for this 0.8.04b2 version! So many bug fixes in the past weeks took us to a point where most of the major bugs left are pretty hard to replicate and, therefore, complicated to solve. That does not prevent us from keep trying, though! As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.

    NEW OFFICIAL LOCALIZATION

    This patch brings two new official languages to the game, Italian and Spanish! Other languages like English, Chinese, German, Japanese and Russian have been officially revised and should be better than ever now!

    This took a while due to the amount of text added in the last updates and how frequently we have new things to localize, and we thank everyone in the community that helped us with the localization during that time! You are all awesome!

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS

    Debug long is no longer accessible through pressing 0 (zero) on builds;
    [COM] Cocooned players can now ping to call their friends;
    Improvements in online position syncing, especially regarding other players.

    BUG FIXES


    • Fixed an issue where cleaning a door would not fully reset the dirt effect;
    • Aliens now may also try to reach appliances further than one room away;
    • Aliens will prioritize next room lamps > next room appliances > further rooms;
    • [COM] Mixer now reliably destroys aliens in online matches, which prevents it from hurting the games performance;
    • [COM] Alien icon and information on the fridge now displays as intended;
    • [COM] Fixed issue where a players position while using the couch or bed was inaccurate;

    • New languages are available in this build. We announced it yesterday but it was a miscommunication of our part, sorry;
    • The language option in the settings screen now changes its font, preventing the missing font errors we used to get;
    • The friend invite UI flow was improved so players wont have to reopen the invite window when inviting more than one friend at once;
    • Fixed the issue that prevented dogs from getting adopted in online games;
    • Players are not allowed to steam the shop window from each other during a match;

    HOTFIX v0.8.04b1

    This week we are having a hotfix that is not that hot and definitely not as short as others. We felt like it was better to release all the improvements altogether, resulting in way more information than usual. Anyway, here are the changes:

    DOOR REWORK



    Doors now can host more than one egg at any given time. To be more precise, single doors can have 3 eggs growing at once while double doors might hold up to 7 eggs. This change is due to a difficulty we had in controlling how threatening the alien waves would be if we had no control over how many doors are facing the player at the moment the wave arrives.

    Important to say that, to make that work, we had to change how doors get cleaned as well. Now the players need to hit and destroy every egg growing in a door to make it clean. If only some of the eggs are hit, they will disappear but the door and the missed eggs will remain as they were.

    This should make waves less frustrating and more exciting at the same time, becoming easier for those that actively try to deal with them and more dangerous for those that ignore it while it happens. We are eager to get feedbacks from the community about this change =)


    General


    • Recently cleaned appliances now run a timer before they can become dirt again, preventing doors to become dirt right after the player clean them.

    Interface

    • Fixed issue where using controllers, mouse or keyboard in the main menu would cause the game to loose focus and become unresponsive to certain inputs;
    • The mouse cursor is deactivated during gameplay if the player has not used it for more than 5 seconds;
    • Fixed issue where players could not start a game after coming back from finished or ongoing match;
    • The game no longer fails to disconnect when trying to go offline;
    • The game should no longer enter a lobby or start a match without a character showing on the screen;
    • Fixed issue where some screens would be opened with no options visually selected;
    • The back button now cancels the countdown before going back to the menu;
    • Now every local player can cancel the start match countdown;
    • Fixed a bug where local players couldnt leave the lobby after a canceled countdown;
    • Victory/Defeat screen now accepts any input to go back to the menu;
    • Fixed issue where making a lobby private after going offline would prevent the player from making it public again;
    • Fixed issue where players would get stuck on the animations of interacting with doors and other appliances even after going away from them.


    Balancing

    • The waves of aliens that spawn on doors are 20-30% easier.

    Out of Space update: Quality of Life v0.8.03

    Hi everyone! We are back with yet another patch notes! We continue the effort to reduce the number of bugs and improve the replayability of the game. Here is what the version 0.8.03b14 has for us. As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.

    TUTORIAL

    We didnt mention the tutorial last sprint because it was still in test phase, although we made it available for you. You know, a test version of a tutorial is still better than no tutorial at all haha. Well, now it is more polished, less susceptible to soft-blocks and with a working flow, in general.

    That sets it in a place where we are comfortable making it obligatory for new players. It only covers the basic you need to know so you can start learning the rest by playing and having a good time. Its a 1-8 minutes tiny ship with a little bit of storytelling behind it and it should be no trouble for experienced players to rush through, if so they wish.

    FRIEND INVITE

    Now the friend invite is fully functional and playing with your friends is way easier than before! After removing that option from the matchmaking menu, weve added it back again! And somehow that makes complete sense..

    You can now invite anyone you have in your Steam friends list, regardless of the region they are at, and the invite will go straight to the steam chat. The only restrictions are that you both need to be online and visible on Steam and have the exact same version of the game.

    COMPEDIUM

    We added a screen to show everything youve unlocked or can unlock through the achievements in the game. It has descriptions for previously unlocked items and available achievements, but some hidden achievements will only become accessible once the player meets its requirements.

    This is meant to help everyone understand better the game mechanics and have a quick way to read more about any given item, as long as it is available in the shop.

    EXERCISE BIKE

    A new appliance was added to the game! Getting some exercise done on that bicycle grants the players money over time, beyond the obvious health benefits youd expect from it. Just to be clear, that last one was a joke and you should not buy that item if you want to see a THIC and muscular Beaver.

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS


    • The game no longer starts with an Armchair, since falling from exhaustion wont cause a loose state;
    • [COM] Improved ship generator that reduces the chances of multiple corridors connected to each other in the same ship;
    • Improved syncing of eggs on doors inside of online matches, what prevents conflicts regarding those eggs positions;
    • Ventilation Shafts no longer spit dirt as soon as they become dirty, giving time for the players to react and avoid its hazards;
    • Pressing F (keyboard) and up (controller D-pad) now shows informations of your character in the game, like hunger and fatigue levels;
    • Players now only need to press the use button in order to eat food, instead of holding it down;
    • Passing out from fatigue or hunger now forces the shop to close, if the passed out player was controlling it;
    • [COM] Dogs now have multiple textures and are even cuter than before.




    UDIO



    • Added a jingle to the defeat screen;
    • New distortion effect for when the music plays on the porch (outside the ship);
    • Adaptive music is turned off until we redesign the system that manages it and was replaced by the full layered version of the theme;
    • [COM] Several SFXs were redesigned and remixed;


    UI


    • Subtle text alignment adjustments in Life Goals Updated window;
    • [COM] New in-game HUD that prints how many rooms are energized in the ship. This should make the goal of the matches clearer.
    • [COM] Chinese, Japanese and Russian fonts were fixed to have no missing characters in the game texts. Players nicknames might still get missing characters, especially in Chinese.
    • [COM] Button colliders in the interface were resized to reduce misclicks and facilitate mouse navigation;
    • [COM] The matchmaking screen now shows the server region of a room once connected to it;
    • [COM] Settings now include options to both toggle V-sync and set a target frame rate, what should allow players to reduce both CPU and GPU usage if so they wish;
    • Playing offline no longer displays Waiting for Players in the pre-match screen;
    • [COM] Several text windows were added to inform the reason behind connection errors;
    • The buttons in the character selection screen had their background color changed to improve contrast in that screen;
    • Added a fade effect for screen transitions in the menu.



    BALANCE


    • Cleaning the floor creates less trash bags now, although it might be difficult to notice that difference;
    • [COM] Now the cleaning robot no longer spawns automatically at the start of a match;
    • A dog will be automatically spawned instead, but only on solo matches;
    • Online matches now consistently start with a given value depending on the amount of players, in contrast to eventually starting with the single player value;
    • Appliances that reduce fatigue now have a percentile value of recovery per second instead of a flat number:
    • Plant now reduces 1% of payers fatigue per second, instead of flat 5;
    • Armchair now reduces 10% of payers fatigue per second, instead of flat 100/50 (solo/coop);
    • Couch now reduces 15% of payers fatigue per second, instead of flat 160/80 (solo/coop);
    • Bed now reduces 25% of payers fatigue per second, instead of flat 220/110 (solo/coop).


    BUG FIXES

    General

    • [COM] Starting a new match after leaving a private room is working again;
    • [COM] The achievement Less Shopping now works as intended. The players must only avoid buying electrical appliances;
    • [COM] TVs now work properly in online multiplayer games, even if the players are at different points in the progression and have, therefore, unlocked different items in the shop;
    • [COM] TVs are now applying sales properly once again, in contrast with not giving any promotion at all. This issue was affecting both online and offline games.
    • Players can be woken up with water if they fall from exhaustion again;
    • The building animation for appliances now plays as it should, in contrast with the instant availability of the workstation for use;
    • [COM] The Dog can no longer looks for destroyed aliens in its list, avoiding the constant idle behaviour it used to have;
    • Fixed an issue where the aliens would, sometimes, freeze shortly instead of moving;
    • The Cleaning Robot workstation can now be recycled;
    • The Shower can now be activated from anywhere close, including standing inside it;
    • [COM] The Bucket no longer cleans rooms across walls or closed doors;
    • The decoration Plant now affects other players on online matches;
    • [COM] Using the Mop for too long doesnt harm performance anymore;
    • Recently cleaned rooms now shine even if they were fully cleaned before;
    • The ping function has been added to the keyboard controls, mapped to the space bar;
    • Appliances and items are now set back to their original state when a player using or holding them disconnects.
    • Aliens no longer get out of the stun state by themselves;
    • Aliens now may also try to escape the room when that room is opened by players.


    Refrigerator

    • Aliens no longer have their position bugged inside the refrigerator;
    • Aliens inside a refrigerator will leave it in case it becomes powerless;
    • [COM] Added two missing icons to represent the Cleaning Robot and the Salad in the Refrigerators UI.


    Interface

    • The auto save of the achievements can no longer cause an strange behaviour in the game;
    • [COM] Fixes in some of the localization issues, especially regarding the achievements and awards texts;
    • [COM] Fixed the issue where the game would lock players on the character selection screen, preventing them from going back to the menu;
    • [COM] Multiple appliances effects and animations now pause along with the game:
    • Pumpkin Gardens decay;
    • The Dogs AI and animations;

    Hi everyone! This post is especially, although not exclusively, for our players from China. We are very happy and surprised to see so many of you playing Out of Space and helping us with so many bug reports and feedbacks!

    As most of you know, we are still in Early Access and your help is extremely important in improving the game for everyone, specially for other Chinese players. Based on your feedbacks, weve already sent the following Hot Fixes:

    - An improved version of the Chinese translation checked by the lovely members of
    our Discord Community (v0.8.03b12);
    - We removed the invite friends button from the matchmaking screen, so people wont feel like the feature is bugged or not working instead of just not released (v0.8.03b14).


    We also need to tell you that weve implemented a sort of Region Lock for those who play the game in the Chinese language. That prevents those players to find games in regions that are not China itself and the reason behind that is solely to avoid connection issues with our network system.


    Photon, that is our multiplayer plug in, says that connections between China and other regions are unreliable and might not work. Wed rather you to have a consistent connection in this particular case. Changing the game to English would allow you to connect in any server, but we do not recommend you to do so.

    Patch Notes v0.8.02b11



    Hi everyone! Thanks for all the support during this early access phase of development! Here are the patch notes for the version 0.8.02b11, that had bug-fixing and game stability as its absolute focus. As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS


    • Gameplay music had added tracks, improved mixing and volume adjustments;
    • [COM] Sound effects were also adjusted to sound better and less invasive;
    • Enhanced triggers for the reactive music;
    • [COM] General improvements in the procedural generation of the ships;
    • [COM] Improved floor and wall textures;


    UI


    • [COM] Added a new dialog window that requires confirmation from the players when clicking on exit from the menu and the pause screen and when going back to the menu from a game or an online lobby;
    • [COM] Pop up notification when you get disconnected from an online match due to internet issues;
    • Some faulty interface sound effects are now working again;
    • Two new options were added to the main menu screen. Both the tutorial and the weekly challenge buttons shall remain unavailable until those features are complete;

    • In-game tooltip balloons - such as those that indicate something needs energy - are no longer shown inside a fog.

    Aliens

    • [COM] Alien eggs now explode in dirt when they hatch again, but this time they only affect the room they are facing towards;
    • [COM] Alien eggs no longer persist floating in the air when the player cleans a door with a bucket but misses the egg growing in it;
    • Eggs now always spawn on the side of the doors that is closer to the players;


    Other

    • [COM] Fixed texts that were not showing properly, especially regarding the achievements with quote signs in them;
    • Multiple in game sound effects fixed;
    • Ventilation shafts are now synchronized on online matches;
    • [COM] Dogs AI was improved to become even more efficient and to prevent it from ignoring aliens after resting a few times;
    • The Dog can no longer be pushed away from its bed by players that are not the host in multiplayer matches;
    • [COM] Issues when loading the game were fixed. That includes the infamous 0%, 43%, 78% and 100% soft freezes on online matches;
    • [COM] TV sales only affect items available in the shop;

    Out of Space update: Multiplayer Online up to 4 players! v0.8.01b4

    Hi everyone! Here are the patch notes for the version v0.8.01b4! The online multiplayer mode is now available for everyone who owns the game! As usual, items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.



    ONLINE MULTIPLAYER (LIVE!)

    [COM] Well, it took long enough, but we finally managed to get the online multiplayer in the same state as the local play. That is not to say it is perfect or totally free of bugs, but it is totally playable and it should be a great opportunity for those who never played Out of Space as it was intended to be played: cooperatively.

    Friend invites on Steam are right around the corner, but not yet available. That means that if you want to play with friends, you must all be in the same region (settings) and try to go online at the same time. Having best region selected is not currently working for matchmaking. It should not be too tough now that not many of you will be playing at the same time, but we are sorry for this temporary inconvenience nonetheless.

    ACHIEVEMENTS AND PROGRESSION

    [COM] As said in our community server, this was one of those features we always knew the game needed, but we only just got to a point in which it is possible to implement it. Its supposed to be something pretty simple to understand: at the start, part of the content that was available in the game until the last update will be unavailable. It will all become available again once the players unlock achievements like playing some matches, recycling a given number of items or even winning a match without cooking anything.

    We believe this will greatly improve the learning curve of the game, allowing players to be introduced to new items as they get more experienced with the game. Not to say some of the more challenging achievements that will encourage players to try to win matches using very odd and interesting strategies.

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS

    - Aliens AI reworked to behave more like it is trying to protect itself from the players and to have less predictable movements. They are also more responsive and active, to be more of a threat when left by themselves in rooms.

    - Changes on how the music gets compressed, reducing the size of the game and optimizing the loading time for sound effects and music in general.

    - The Recycler now has a queue of items and allow one player to throw items at it while another activates it at the turn handle.

    BALANCE

    Dog

    Its AI got reworked to make him more efficient and more responsive:
    - It no longer waits until getting into a room to start barking at aliens, meaning it will promptly stun any alien it finds along the way;
    - It spends more energy while barking, but lasts twice as long while idly following the players;
    - It will now prioritize barking at unstunned aliens instead of stun-locking the same alien until it runs out of energy;
    - The Dog will always get its energy full when fed, regardless of the type of food you feed it or the amount of energy it had when it started eating. This avoids moments when the dog was fed a fruit but didnt get back to the game after that;
    - Using the ping now calls the Dog to help you, which is especially useful on multiplayer matches. This gives players more control over who the Dog will be following;

    BUG FIXES

    - The Dog is now more reliable and ignores aliens less frequently;
    - Fixed tension levels, making the music adapt better in the game;
    - Character models no longer clip inside the boxes on the character selection screen;
    - Aliens no longer disappear after walking on the porch or close to its limits;
    - The Bucket can no longer be cloned by interacting with the sink too fast and nor refills itself twice visually when placed in a sink or faucet;
    - The positions of the items that are queued on the Recycler has been improved not to look as if they were floating above it;

    Online
    - The tables are now properly fixed on online games;
    - Object physics no longer go crazy when used in the Recycler;
    - Appliances no longer behave as if they were powerless when they are connected to an active energy socket. This fix will also reduce other syncing problems like when a pumpkin garden would produce fruits for one of the players.

    Out of Space UPDATE: Multiplayer Online in Beta v0.7.01

    Hi everyone! The patch notes for the version v0.7.01 are here! And we are finally releasing the online multiplayer for Out of Space, kind of. Items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback, by the way.

    ONLINE MULTIPLAYER (BETA)

    We did plan on having online multiplayer since the start of the project, but it is fair to say that the community was what prevented us from giving up on this feature. The amount of work and headache that implementing this has been enormous, but we knew many of you needed this to play with your friends and here it is.

    Unfortunately, we will only release the online multiplayer build in the BETA branch because we've not reached the state we wanted with it yet and we don't want people inadvertently facing heavy bugs on the main branch. Please, if you want to play it on beta nonetheless, expect there to be bugs! We are working hard to make the online experience as fluid as possible, but we are not too close from that point as we thought we were. So have that beta mindset when playing an online match and please report any bugs or problems you encounter along the way!

    NEW CHARACTERS

    Four new faces were added to the game to be used as playable characters: Shark, Fox, Sloth [COM] and the Disguised Alien. You can choose them in the lobby just like the others.

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS

    - [COM] We now have Chinese as an official/community-checked language! Official translations for Russian and Japanese were added to the game as well.

    - New sound effects and music tracks for the game. This basically covers most of the elements on screen added in the last updates.

    - The game now has a simple ping system. Press R1 in game to call the attention of everyone to where you are at any given moment. This feature still has a lot to improve, but we felt like we needed it done for the online multiplayer.

    - General performance optimization, usually related to reducing the number of outputs into the games log, causing a disk overload.

    - New portal animation to contextualize the item's arrival at the porch.

    BALANCE

    Shop
    - Refrigerator price decreased from 30 to 25

    We felt like the dog, as many other thing in the game, should also be less of a burden for solo players, so we made it more efficient for them.

    Dog
    - Maximum energy (1 to 4 players) increased from 100/100/100/100 to 150/100/100/100;
    - Energy recovered per second while eating (1 to 4 players) increased from 20/20/20/20 to 30/20/20/20;
    - Cooldown between bark sessions (1 to 4 players) decreased from 5/5/5/5 to 3/5/5/5;
    - Energy spent while barking (1 to 4 players) decreased from 3/3/3/3 to 2/3/3/3;

    BUG FIXES

    - Fixed animations for the broom use and its idle.
    - Sale image on TV fixed to show the discount tag alongside it.
    - Heater and mixer's colliders adjusted.
    - Tables now protect items from getting rotten without a time limit.

    The bug fixes list looks small because 99% of the bugs fixed in this sprint were multiplayer things that were never publicly released and (hopefully) never will be :)

    People, we've just released a hot fix! Here is what changed for v0.6.04b9:

    BUG FIX

    - Some rooms occasionally didn't respond as intended to player's interaction, especially regarding powering them up and therefore turning it's doors automatically. Those were fixed so they won't be a thing anymore.

    BALANCE

    Weve noticed that the players were spending too much time eating and sleeping, and this hotfix is taking a step towards fixing that.

    - Maximum hunger a player can have (1 to 4 players) increased from 300/280/280/280 to 600/300/300/300;
    - Maximum fatigue a player can have (1 to 4 players) increased from 800/600/600/600 to 900/600/600/600;

    New Difficulty Director Update! v0.6.04b6

    Hi everyone! The patch notes for the version v0.6.04b6 are here! The major focus of this sprint was the Difficulty Director and the features that surround it! Items tagged as [COM] were changed based on community feedback.



    READY, STEADY.. CLEAN!

    We felt like Out of Space lacked a more controlled pacing to its difficulty. Whether the match is easy, hard, boringly harmless or completely impossible seems totally out of our hands right now and we addressed that issue.

    Hence the Difficulty Director, an AI implemented in this update that both provides dynamic difficulty to the game and sets up moments of peace amidst all the chaos caused by the aliens. We want it to make the game challenging but not relentlessly so. We will be constantly interacting with its values based on the players feedbacks, but the should feel less tense and more interesting now.

    THE VENTILATION SHAFT

    Ventilation Shafts are an alternative way for dirt to spread in your space house. With a clear anticipation and in a totally preventable way, the ducts can eject dirt from the ventilation directly into that shiny floor of yours. Cautious players need not to worry, though. Keeps the ducts clean with a water bucket will keep your friends and your belongings safe =)

    As of this version, it will get the floor and any worstation near it dirty from time to time if unattended. The frequency of that may vary depending on the dynamic and progressive difficulties of the game.


    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS

    - [COM] You can now choose your character on the matchmaking screen! This long awaited feature is finally here. You can use L1/R1 (or equivalent) or Q/E to do so.

    - The alien model was optimized to support more detailed and expressive animations.

    - Enhanced animation for sleeping on couches, beds and on the floor. Transition animations were also improved to avoid weird moments like when a character floats away from the bed.

    - Enhanced animation for opening doors, so that the character doesnt step outside the door area anymore. That makes it more consistent if the character is going to get dirty or not by opening doors.

    - New animations for falling from hunger and for waiting to get fed on the floor. We used to have the same animation for both this and sleeping on the floor.

    - Recyclers collider reduced to prevent it from blocking a door regardless of the position it was built in.

    - [COM] Buckets animation is now more responsive and no longer delays before actually throwing the water. This should improve the players control over where it hits.

    - New visual effect for the Fog that covers closed rooms. Now it has an animation and a variant opacity so the players can still barely see what is inside the rooms.

    - Doors of abandoned rooms now get dirty regardless of alien interactions, turning into possible spawn points for alien eggs.

    - Enemies no longer hide under appliances. They only interact with them for a while in order to get them dirty and then keep living their lives.

    - The objects now have more thrust and gravity applied to them, meaning they will behave in a more believable way and boxes flying like cannonballs upon a Broom hit will no longer be seen all the time.

    - [COM] Dirty system on the floor was enhanced to reduce the chances of invisible dirt and inconsistent feedback regarding the act of cleaning.

    BALANCE

    General
    - Alien flee speed was increased from 2,5 to 4 and its flee distance was increased from 7 to 15, meaning it has now a higher chance of leaving a room and reaching other places in the house.

    BUG FIXES

    - [COM] Mop no longer flickers when players hold it.
    - Rooms now consider the next rooms max alien number before spawning eggs there.
    - [COM] The Pumpkin Garden can now be deconstructed anytime.
    - The Pumpkin Gardens highlight doesnt apply to the particle visual effects.
    - The Lamp now turns off its light when out of power.
    - Television now behaves properly when out of power.
    - Mixer no longer stops working when disassembled and reassembled in another room.
    - [COM] Power Outlets are now more consistent, meaning rooms without energy or with a socketless outlet shouldnt appear as much as before.
    - Alien Eggs that hatch on doors will no longer explode in dirt, to prevent it from affecting the other room as well as the intended one. This is a temporary fix that will possibly be reworked in the future.
    - [COM] Water from the bucket no longer goes through the doors.
    - Aliens have a new icon that shows when they are stored in Refrigerators.

    Out of Space - Feng Shui Update!



    Hi everyone! The patch notes for the version v0.6.03b8 are here! This update brings an important feature to the game: decorations with passive buffs!

    NEW DECORATIONS

    As we said before in our community, weve always loved the idea of letting players decorate their space-homes. When we gave up on the coziness bar, though, we felt like decorating for aesthetic customization alone was not enough to encourage players to buy decorations.

    To fix that, decorations will now grant passive buffs, whether globally or in a certain area, affecting the player or the environment.

    The buffs are the following:

    - Bookshelf: makes appliances (that require energy) more efficient. Generally speaking, the time they require to clean, cook, process or recharge is greatly reduced. At the time of this patch, the amount of reduction is at 50%.

    - Lamp: Aliens are slowed when affected by its light. This debuff to aliens is applied in the entire room, reducing their speed by 50%.

    - Nightstand: makes armchairs, sofas and beds in that room decrease players fatigue 50% faster.

    - Plant: slowly reduces the fatigue of the players in the room over time. In this particular version, it restores 5 per second.

    - Portraits: eating in the room satiate the player 25% more and also satiate friends in the same room for 40% of the base value of the food ingested.

    - Rug: creates a safe area over the rug that is invulnerable to dirt. The floor still needs to be clean by the time you assemble the rug, though.

    - TV: adds a 60% discount to a random item at the shop. This discount is applied to one item for every TV in the ship and two televisions wont ever choose the same item to apply the discount on. The chosen items will be randomized again every 60 seconds.



    LOCALIZATION SHEET IS NOW AVAILABLE

    Localization sheet is now available for everyone who wants to create new languages. English (standard), Portuguese, German, French and Creole are available thanks to the community. Chinese and Russian are available only with the Google Translator version and we will soon have some people checking if it makes any sense soon.

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS:


    - VFX for when the aliens prepare to get inside a workstation and for the fruits becoming dirt after becoming rotten were changed.

    - Enhanced animation for sitting (and sleeping) on armchairs. The character sits faster and has a proper resting animation over the furniture piece.

    - The doors were changed (even more) so that the animations for opening them wont teleport the layer to the dirt and the characters change of position will look smoother.

    BALANCE

    General
    - Maximum number of aliens per room (1 to 4 players) reduced from 4/6/8/10 to 4/5/6/6;
    - Starting dirty floor cells to trash bags ratio increased from 15 to 20, meaning that less trash bags will be generated at the start;
    - Refrigerator item slots increased from 6 to 8;
    - Timer until the first alien spawn (1 to 4 players) increased from 30/15/10/0 to 30/15/10/10;
    - Alien spawn cooldown (1 to 4 players) increased from 80/30/20/10 to 80/30/20/20;
    - Numbers of eggs upon game start (1 to 4 players) reduced from -1/0/1/2 to -1/0/1/1, with -1 meaning it will wait one cycle before increasing the number over time;
    - Time aliens spend hiding under appliances (1 to 4 players) reduced 25/30/35/40 > 20/20/20/20.

    Shop prices
    - Portraits price increased from 15 to 20;
    - Buckets price reduced from 45 to 40;
    - Rugs price reduced from 30 to 25.

    Recycler rewards
    - Pumpkins value increased from 5 to 8;
    - Trash Bags value increased from: 4 to 6;
    - Salads value increased from 8 to 11;
    - Chickens value increased from 8 to 13.

    UI

    - Shops portrait icons for the items have been improved to be more coherent.

    - Shopping UI reworked to better fit the new needs of the decorations. The description is now closer to the focus of the players while shopping. This feature is still a work in progress, even though it is fully functional.

    BUG FIXES

    - Names for item boxes and cocooned players interface are no longer invisible.
    - Bookshelf only builds on walls again. The floating bookshelf is no longer a thing.
    - Inactive rooms now have their appliances and their doors get dirt, so that they are still a threat to players even with the aliens on standby state.

    Patch Notes v0.6.02b11

    Hi everyone! Here are the patch notes for the version v0.6.02b11. For this update, we prioritized getting what we already have in the game to a better state, in general. That means that we prioritized bug fixes and enhancements over new features. Those tagged as [COM] were issues reported by the community, and we thank you all for that.

    LOCALIZATION/TRANSLATION

    An interesting fact about our Early Access release is that, until the moment of this update, more than half of it's purchases were made in Asian countries! The reasons behind that are still unclear to us, but it made us rethink our plans of dealing with language and translations only closer to the full release.

    But to do that while we create new features and items every week without having half of the game's translation regularly outdated and broken is challenging, to say the least. We decided to approach this as we did with GoPP and enable the community to change the language files until we get to a more stable build and translate it in a professional level.

    This feature is still not available to the players, but If you want to help the community with a new language as soon as we release it, you can join our discussions at our Discord server. We have a channel called #oos-localization especially for announcements, suggestions and chat around this feature.

    CHANGES AND ENHANCEMENTS

    - A new track for one of the game's music layers was added. This makes the transition between the early and the late game's music less abrupt.

    - The Salad Bowl, a new fruit-based food, was added to the game. The chicken is now made by placing aliens in the microwave (eww). But seriously, we felt like we needed more choices regarding the act of eating and allowing the aliens to be cooked doubled the number of possibilities for the players.

    - Now the room's fog is working with 3 states: When the room is totally closed, when it is powered off, and when it is on. This further helps us communicate the consequences of removing a battery from a socket, for example.

    - New animation where the truck leaves the house's porch after "dropping" the players there. This is a first step towards using the truck as context for the shop delivery in the future.

    - The doors were changed so they don't visually go through the walls when open. That was more of a visual issue that bothered us for quite some time, but we are sure some will agree they strongly affected our perception of the game's level of polishing.

    BALANCING



    - Cooking a fruit now results in a Salad, instead of the vegan alien.
    - Hunger rebalanced for the addition of the Salad, that can be used twice. Chickens can now be used 4 times instead of 3.
    - Food-related values changed:
    - max hunger: 280 -> 300
    - fruit: 50 (1/2/3/4 players)
    - salad: recovers 120 (1 player), 100 (2/3/4 players)
    - chicken: recovers 180 (1 player), 150 (2/3/4 players)

    UI

    - Settings window with new layout.
    - Now it's possible to change Refresh Rate and Language in the settings window.

    BUG FIXES

    - Fixed screen canvas anchor for 4:3 aspect ratio and ultra wide monitors. The game should look as intended in those monitors now.
    - Kitchen Table is no longer transparent.
    - Cleaning Robot now reaches rooms further away from its base and he always comes back to cleaning after recharging.
    - Alien eggs now always spawn on the right side of the door.
    - Victory title screen adjusted.
    - [COM]: Now it is possible to give food/items on players who passed out while they interacted with something.
    - [COM] Rooms no longer have a chance to spawn without doors.
    - [COM] Items don't float on an invisible ceiling anymore.
    - [COM] Characters can no longer walk through the shower while it is being used.
    - [COM] Any given resolution only appears once in the setting screen, instead of having repeated options.
    - [COM] The timer for manually opened doors now pause with the game.
    - [COM] Powered doors no longer shake as if they were about to close.
    - [COM] Audio settings no longer reset when the game restarts.
    - [COM] The sound effect of the door opening no longer plays at the start of the game (finally).
    - [COM] The sink no longer destroys the bucket when it gets dirty. Instead, the bucket over the dirty sink becomes not intractable.

    Our first Hot Fix! v0.6.01b5

    Hey everyone,

    We had to fix the current version of the game, so users can properly report bugs using the in-game tool.

    So, currently, our newest available version v0.6.01b5 has mainly two diferences:


    • Fixed a bug (actually a debug feature) that when typing "P" in the report bug screen the game would reload and open the main menu.
    • Fixed a bug where the game Log wasn't being sent when reporting a bug by the user.

    Our game is currently purchasable through Steam! Important to state that the game is fully playable, but still in development.     What is Out of Space?

    Strategy co-op multiplayer game about living on a spaceship with your roommates. You'll need to generate resources, take care of a deadly alien infestation, upgrade your appliances and build your own sustainable space home. Living together is never easy, especially when you are in outer space!

    Why Early Access?

    Our process of developing games has always been very open to the community in the past. We usually show our games under development in more than 10 events throughout the year and we find that to be the best approach to making games. We want to make the game for the community, and instead of us trying to guess what you want, why not making it an open process?

    Our project Out of Space has already benefited from the feedback of the community during its first versions. Since 2018 we're doing livestreams on Twitch/Youtube and keeping everyone engaged in our official Discord Server.

    By releasing this game in Early Access, we hope to continue to grow our community and get more people involved in its development.

    Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?

    We plan to have it on Early Access throughout 2019, but we're open to extend it depending on the community feedback.

    How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?

    We want that the final version of the game to give a sense of completion to the player, with missions, achievements and unlockables, a complete tutorial and the ability to play with your friends or anyone online. The main goal is to make a game interesting enough to keep you going back for more for every match. Right now, we have a fun and almost feature complete match, but we lack persistence and progression to enhance the games replayability.

    What is the current state of the Early Access version?

    Out of Space contains the most important features of the in-game match: The ability to buy and build new technology, the need for taking care of your stamina/fatigue and your hunger, the procedural level generation, the basic resources, batteries and organic materials, also the basic enemy system and AI. Also, right now, the game is only playable as local multiplayer or solo.

    Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?

    We plan to have the game during Early Access with a fixed discount of 15%. After that, the game will be launched with the full price.

    How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?

    Our plan is to make the community a big part of the development process so, every 2 weeks we will have the same cycle of:
    - Gather and analyse all feedback and analytics from past cycle.
    - Plan the current cycle of bug fixing, updates and features.
    Inform the community on Discord and Steam Forums about the current cycle and upcoming features.
    - Start production and continuously keep track of the community feedback.
    - Every Thursday 4pm (EST), the dev team will do a live streaming about the upcoming changes (Twitch, Youtube and Steam)
    - Launch a beta version to the most interested players, and then release the stable version to everyone else at the end of the cycle.

    PAX East was amazing!

    Hey everyone!

    PAX East is over, and we're so happy with the results! Hundreds of you come by our booth to check the game, and the feedback was amazing.

    We've being taking this path of open development, where we develop the game openly with the community, and so far it's amazing. We are constantly updating the game and our community from our Discord Server is playing and testing all the way.

    And last week, we showed the game at PAX, in the INDIE MEGABOOTH area, and it was amazing to see what we need to improve and what you already liked in the game. We have tons of things to do after the show, and we're very excited to see all those things being implemented.

    Right now we're rewriting this whole Steam Store description, and we're adding new screenshots and the teaser video.
