Full Release Patch - New races, balancing and more!

Hear ye! Hear ye! Adventurers! We have been focussing heavily on the feedback we have received before and after the full release. Among others, you will find more ways of customizing your character, a lot of balancing improvements and more!

New content:


  • Five new player races (Gray Elves, Mist Elves, Hurthlings, Gnomes and Drakelings).
    • We are now race-wise on par with (feature complete) with the original ADOM, meaning all the races contained in the original ADOM are now included in Ultimate ADOM.
      • You now have the chance to play small characters (Hurthlings and Gnomes) which cause less weapon damage than their larger brethren. Or the fragile Mist Elves who are very hard to harm with physical weapons but at the same time cant stand the touch of iron.

Balancing adjustments:


  • Skill points are now slightly more scarce and force you to choose more carefully in which skills you want to improve. Also, a few skill tiers have been adjusted.
  • Benefit progressions for professions and factions have been changed to make the game more challeging. Specifically, playing for Andor Drakon has become a more tricky challenge in balancing power and corruption.
  • The more powerful metals (Adamantium, Eternium and Truesilver) now show up slightly later to better balance the progression of power. Additionally, Truesilver is now more interesting as an alternative to Eternium.
  • Item drops are less extensive. This means that you both no longer have to manage as many boring items as before, as well as making resources generally more scarce.
  • The Halls of the Dead level has become more deadly.
  • We now disallow to fletch arrows from quarrels (and vice versa).

Random character creation:


  • You can now select a random faction, gender, race and profession during the custom character creation or use a completely random one.

Traps have been improved:


  • Known traps now have a special marker so they can be easily avoided.
  • Magical traps now can be evaded by non-ground-based movement (if you are perceptive enough).
  • Trap locations now sport a description.

Control/UI enhancements:


  • You can now use the keyboard to harvest items into hit/power/experience points.
  • Entities in the misc toolbar can now be rearranged and removed (via Drag&Drop).
  • The skin color for Drakelings can be changed in the character customization. We plan to add more skin colors for other races.
  • Optimized font rendering slightly, text should look a bit sharper now.
  • Gamepad controls: you can now use the left stick in the radial menu to directly select an element.
  • During startup, the game asks if gamepad support should be activated (if a gamepad like device is detected).

Various important bug fixes:


  • Fixed a potential endless loop during the worm tunnel map generation.
  • Summoned undead now fight for the summoner much more effectively.
  • Auto-exploration will not enter water with a current anymore. This should make the river level a bit safer.
  • Fixed problem where some effects (like fire, poison) would be applied to the character again, when the inventory was opened and closed without any interaction.
  • Fixed problem where some opening the radial menu (e) would trigger applied effects again, e.g. life draining aura or poisoned.
  • Prevent the turn from being half-executed, when some actions are cancelled (e.g. "jump" or "cast wand").
  • Fixed DV of items being modified when the PC was bloated.
  • Fixed ToHit modifiers showing wrong values.
  • The encumbrance level was not influenced by wielding heavy armor.
  • Some shield prefix/suffix modifiers were ignored, which could lead to wrong DV/PV/stats being shown.
  • Fixed health bars sometimes not updating correctly.
  • The shown statistic values are now always updated at the end of the turn again to make sure the current values are shown.
  • The screen resolution in the video settings would sometimes select the first entry (1024x768) because of a slight mismatch in refresh rates reported by Unity even though a different resolution was used.
  • Many more bug fixes and stability improvements.

First major content Update is heading to Ultimate ADOM!

Dear community, Currently, we are preparing for the first major content update for Ultimate ADOM: Caverns of Chaos, after having entered production roughly four weeks ago. For the upcoming release 1.1.0 we are focusing on three areas:

  • Completing more features that are present in the original ADOM.
    • For this release we will level up the racial choices for your player character: Mist Elves, Gray Elves, Gnomes, Hurthlings and Drakelings will return each with their own unique strengths and weaknesses. Enjoy the new flavorful races and the difficulty levels they imply.
  • We continuously work on improving balancing.
    • Ultimate ADOM is a game with many moving parts and components and the added inherent randomness of roguelike games make fun balance an interesting challenge especially as neither races nor professions in ADOM ever were designed to be balanced, but rather the combinations you choose are representing inherent difficulty levels. We are going to address a lot of areas, among them item drops, better balancing for skill points and adjustments to level progressions.
  • Quality of life enhancements.
    • There will be a lot of these and this probably is a never-ending story (even in ADOM after more than 25 years of development theres always a backlog of enhancements to make controls better). New features will include traps now being visibly marked, enhanced gamepad support, random character creation options, smarter auto-exploration, more intelligent combat support from summoned monsters, extensive bug fixing and a lot more.
As we intend to work on the game for a long time to come, this also marks the pattern we are going to use for upcoming releases. As explained in https://steamcommunity.com/app/1266820/discussions/0/3050608452021165961/?snr=2_9_100003_ the production release of Ultimate ADOM: Caverns of Chaos on Steam marks our milestone defined as having provided a much more accessible roguelike dungeon crawler that works much better for a more mainstream audience than the original ADOM ever did.

Now we are at the beginning of the second leg of our journey:


Complete Ultimate ADOM: Caverns of Chaos with the many features still missing from ADOM, among others, but not just limited to: Adding detailed story lines and many more means of interacting with the denizens of the caves. Adding a religion system and so on and so forth. This will be a far longer and more extensive journey than the first part. While the first part also was structured with predefined milestones, we intend to return to a more creative and secretive way of working on content for future releases as we had to learn that a long series of milestones at some point becomes harmful to creativity. To account for that from now on, we are going to work on whatever next feature seems to most fun to us (both to work on and to play with), based on the overwhelming amount of suggestions and comments from the community. Well announce new features step by step when they arrive, instead of continuing to chase short-breathed milestones. Future releases will happen when enough interesting features and additions are done. So they might come in any kind of timing, from days to weeks to months. During these times, well try to highlight upcoming developments and initiate discussions about them here, in the community hub. The Update of the Living Dead


Newly added


  • The Necromancer joins the ranks of playable classes.
    • A master of death magic and grafting, a powerful necromancer my choose to follow the path of Lichcraft, turning themselves into a powerful undead creature.
  • Two new magical effects:
    • Life Draining will steal your enemies' life force and apply it to you.
    • Necrotic Damage completely bypasses armor.

Improvements, QoL, Balancing and more!


  • Many monsters have also dabbled in the arcane and divine magic skills.
    • Beware of kobold wizards and more powerful casters, for they can learn all the spells you can, and then some more!
  • Power points and spell costs have been completely rebalanced.
    • Additionally, many spells will now scale much better when cast at a higher character level.
  • Many buff spells can now be toggled to run indefinitely until cancelled or dispelled.
    • These will instead reduce your maximum power while running. E.g. no more reapplying Ice Armor every ten steps!
  • If you attack one and the same target multiple times in a row, your chance of hitting progressively increases, meaning you have a fighting chance even against enemies that are very hard to hit. If you interrupt your flurry of blows with any other action, this effect resets! Also beware: monsters may use this against you, too.
  • Elemental effects make much more sense now. Especially fish do not like if you freeze water around them.
  • Keyboard players rejoice! Several additional commands can now be accessed by keyboard: D - drink, E - eat, U - use, R - read, Z - zap.
  • You can now customize how the inventory screen (for the backpack and items on the ground) looks like with two new modes. One is a bit more elaborate, while the other is more compact.
  • The Tome Of Knowledge now contains more explanation texts for the UI to help new players find their way into learning what things mean even faster.
  • Visual combat feedback has been optimized. Hits that are dealing damage are shown in red, while hits that are not dealing any damage are now shown in orange.
  • We have added more help texts to the more complex screens.
  • Several major visual enhancements, including spell effects, new level biomes and more wall decorations to add a lot more diversity to the dungeon levels.
  • While slingers had an easy way of generating more bullets for their sling, archers and crossbow-users would often find themselves without ammunition. No more! Fletching arrows and quarrels now works as intended.
  • Items granting you special movement modes (such as flying, hovering or others) will work now.
  • Legacy items you were able to find but had no purpose will no longer appear in the game. Everything you find has a purpose and a function now!
  • Added a lot more item explanations to tell you what these functions actually are.
  • If you are unaffected by bad karma, you will actually be unaffected. Previously, your luck would be reduced even if you had immunity.

Bugfixes, Stability and Performance


Many more bug fixes and stability improvements, among them several severe execution problems due to multi-threading have been added and introduced to the game, too many to list. Thank you to the community, providing us with continuous support, feedback and reports to get those sorted properly and with this release version!

Early Access Update #11 (version 0.9.1) - Performance Update

Hear ye! Hear ye! Adventurers! Today we have released update #11 (0.9.1) for thy Ultimate ADOM Early Access! We have been focussed heavily on the outstanding performance issues reported by you for this patch.

Significant Changes and Improvements


  • Loading and Saving will now be much, much faster.
  • Large areas of water (such as Lake Gloom) will no longer significantly impact performance.
  • The perceived performance issues in levels below Lake Gloom should no longer be present. If you still encounter issues, please send them in including your system specifications.
  • Multiple enemies are now firing at you simultaneously, instead of taking turns. This should speed up combat against many enemy archers significantly.
  • Corruption now spreads slower than before. On every new level, you have some breathing space before it starts to spread.
  • Ammunition used in ranged attacks now has a trail to make it more visible.
  • Overall performance improvement for slower systems.

Other important Fixes


  • Critical hits will no longer be quite as unfair to you. Heavily armed monsters are still very dangerous to engage in melee, but will less likely result in a crippled adventurer.
  • Floating messages now follow the being they're referring to.
  • Playing with keyboard or gamepad will also show tooltips when selecting items in the inventory and other places now.
  • There have been various seemingly inexplicable bugs floating around, which were caused by a deep system problem hidden away from cursory eyes. We fixed something regarding this, and believe most bugs will now at least be explicable. Again, if you encounter things you believe are not the way they are meant to, please let us know!

Many, many minor bugfixes.


  • Too numerous and less impacting the game-experience for all, or just even few players at all.

Only now we start to understand that we probably failed to communicate our strategy for Ultimate ADOM clear enough (although after looking through older posts we did communicate it from the very beginning). Let me once more summarize our vision for Ultimate ADOM which basically is twofold: [olist]
  • Our short-term goal was to create a new audience for a sequel to ADOM by addressing a more mainstream audience (people who regularly play RPGs but are not really into roguelikes). We felt that this move was an absolute necessity to be able to sustain the development of a modern graphical game worthy of a 21st century audience. Doing so requires higher investments compared to building a simpler pure ASCII based game. We always had the vision to prove that even a complex game of the nature of ADOM is mainstream-capable and can provide exciting new venues to players accustomed to such more classical RPG games out there.
  • Our long-term goal (and this mirrors in the name prefix Ultimate we chose) was to build a much deeper ADOM that surpasses the original in every aspect: More stories, more complex story lines, more character options, more skills, more spells, more items, an extensive surface world and so on and so forth.[/olist] Our decision to move to production status is related to the short-term goal: We feel that Ultimate ADOM: Caverns of Chaos is very nearly complete enough (and detailed enough) for the needs of more mainstream gamers. Already now Ultimate ADOM in many areas (though certainly not all) by far surpasses ADOM Classic/Deluxe (and for the sake of completeness I will do an extensive comparison of where Ultimate ADOM already today has far more depth than the original ADOM had and of the areas where it still needs to grow expect it to show up in a day or three on our blog, well announce it here, too). For sure Ultimate ADOM: Caverns of Chaos is on a certain level a much simpler game than ADOM: Its more focused on roughly 20 levels of play, you probably can win it within 3-6 hours based on your level of experience and it still has a wide variety of options to choose from and a wide variety of surprises waiting for you. Its not quite yet where we want it to be for prime time but close enough according to our estimate. Three areas needed improvement:
    • Melee
    • Magic
    • Overall balance, stability, performance and pacing
    Comparing the player behavior from ADOM shows that Ultimate ADOM is already a much more accessible game than its predecessor. Especially new players make it deeper into the dungeons than ever before. The plan so far has been to address melee aspects by 95% with the June release (which is out and the game has become a lot more challenging although we still are fine-tuning some areas like critical hits by monsters), address magic with the July release and do the final tuning and polishing in August before production. Well (again) slightly adjust this by focusing on performance and bugs for the next couple of weeks to prove that the game foundation is rock solid and then finish the content aspects mentioned above before production release. I have to admit that we probably kind of fumbled communicating this vision clearly enough because the name Ultimate already insinuates that the game will be better than ADOM in each and every aspect you can think of. This never has been our goal for the first step. Because neither Rome nor ADOM were built in a day. It took an extended period of time. Which brings us to the second part of the vision the long-term part: We do want to continue working on Ultimate ADOM for many years in order to surpass the original in every dimension. And we have a plan for that. But it takes time. So to put this very clearly:
    • We want to continue developing Ultimate ADOM for an infinite amount of time if this is sustainable by any means.
    • We want to release a lot more content updates addressing all dimensions of the game the old community craves and loves.
    But we need time for that. And to buy time we need a wider audience with different needs and requirements. Regarding the more mainstream audience we feel that the current offering is going to cater to their needs once the above-mentioned additions have been addressed before the August release. And then its hopefully to the moon. Our content and idea backlog is crammed full for years to come. And wed love to do this journey together. But our vision never was to simply to ADOM once again just with better graphics. Its far more extensive and we just have taken the very first step.

    So once more the brief summary:


    • We cater to two audiences: more mainstream gamers and the classical community that helped make ADOM great.
    • The more mainstream community now gets their full production release in August.
    • We acknowledge, that there is still content to come and we want to assure that we will support the game post release as much as possible, but this will also be tied to how well the game performs financially after release.
    • The next two milestones are a bug & performance release in July and the magic update & combat fine-tuning release (with some cool yet unannounced surprises) for the August production release. We changed our priorities here due to your very clear feedback, which we absolutely agree with!
    • We probably should have spent a lot more time communicating this two-part vision in a clearer way. Sorry for being confusing or not transparent enough. But sitting in our rabbit hole for some reason we failed to notice this.
    Hopefully this somewhat clears up the confusion, explains our thought processes. We welcome all questions and concerns and will try to be as transparent as possible. Thanks & Axes High! Thomas Biskup

    Community feedback-based additions and changes!


    • Powerful monsters may now carry Treasure Troves with them.
      • Defeating them and looting these troves will offer you a choice of mighty items, and also offer you the chance to sacrifice gathered gold for a new random selection of items!
    • All combat skill trees have been completely streamlined, allowing you a choice of fighting style instead of locking you into certain weapons.
      • The old combat skill system forced you early on into specializing on certain weapon types. Therefore, the old skill system has been replaced with 140 new skills, offering a longer and more interesting progression.
    • In general, combat has been spiced up a lot by making it much more challenging:
      • Being swarmed by enemies makes it more likely to be hit the more enemies attack you in the same turn. This applies for both ranged and melee combat.
      • Wielding multiple weapons now comes with a price and requires skill investment to be effective.
      • If you (or your enemy) deal at least 10 points of damage with a melee attack, they will cause a minimum of 1 point of damage even if your Protection Value is higher. This allows you to whittle down even heavily armored enemies - and it makes charging into a swarm of monsters more dangerous while wearing heavy plate.
      • Critical hits from both player characters and monsters are slightly rarer now.
      • A high chance of hitting something also increases the chance to bypass an enemys armor, too.
      • Armor can now be damaged or even destroyed by armor-penetrating hits. Make sure to carry a spare pair of pants with you, if you rely on such things!
      • Area spell damage has been slightly toned down again. While still being an excellent choice and playstyle, room-filling spells are no longer the answer to everything you might be encountering.
    • The way player characters heal has been changed.
      • You will regenerate more slowly while crawling the dungeon, thus making hunting for regeneration flux points, healing potions or food more tense.
      • At the same, time, healing while resting will become faster, the longer you remain undisturbed, making the search for rare and undisturbed spots more important.
      • Finally, healing potions are now more common, and every adventurer starts with one.
    • Achievements have been added to the game! 50 very different challenges await you.
    • While creating a custom character, the powers of races, classes and professions now are explained with much more detail.

    New Content


    • Four new pesky monsters plague the early dungeon levels.
    • Tons of new prefixes and suffixes, which effectively are adding millions of new items to the game:
      • Added 18 shield prefixes and 13 shield suffixes for a total of more than 40,000 new shields that can be found.
      • Added 13 ranged weapon prefixes and 14 ranged weapon suffixes, a couple of million new ranged weapons that can be found.
      • Added 6 more armor prefixes and 2 more armor suffixes.
      • Added 2 more body wear suffixes.
      • Added 2 more melee weapon prefixes.
      • Affix-based powers have been boosted to make them more exciting. A weapon of orc-slaying now finally means actually slaying orcs while wielding it!
    • Powerful items have a special marker with different colors now, indicating their power level: blue, yellow and purple indicate that a weapon is powerful, mighty and epic respectively.
    • The format of the highscore file was updated to improve performance.
      • Important notice: Unfortunately, this means that your old highscores will be gone after the update. Make sure to take a screenshot of your old highscores for bragging rights!
    • We also changed the format of some other configuration files, so you may get some prompts again in the main menu (that you already answered before) and you also might need to reconfigure the statistics configuration again (if you changed it).
    • You can now earn 5 Steam trading cards.

    Various bug fixes and improvements:


    • Auto-exploration has been redesigned and should now be much smarter and less prone to unexpected results.
    • Orcs and trolls now also have level-based benefits, like the other player races.
    • Wizards now receive the first four levels of literacy for free. Those starting scrolls are no longer dead paper weight!
    • The duration and severity of poison has been adjusted.
    • Dangerous monsters and similar challenges no longer should be generated directly adjacent to stairways, giving you a greater chance to bypass them without getting pummeled.
    • The dungeon no longer sports any dead ends.
    • Melee archery now works as intended.
    • Summoning monsters no longer causes a huge performance hit.
    • Summoned monsters now behave less like companions and more like the ravenous horde of beings they are supposed to be.
    • Harvesting buttons now only are offered if you really can harvest items.
    • Many items that had no effect have been removed and will no longer spawn. All armors, bracers, cloaks, gauntlets, gloves, footwear items, headgear items, necklaces, amulets, shields and tools you find have a use.
    • This includes bandages: Using them now provides some healing and stops bleeding.
    • We removed the eyewear slot.
    • Will owisps now actually can attack.
    • Troll Assassins will no longer start naked.
    • Many minor bug fixes.
      • Too many and too little to list here in detail.

    Ultimate ADOM Early Access Update #9 (version 0.8.3) has arrived!

    Hear ye! Hear ye! Adventurers! Today we have released update #8 (0.8.3) for thy Ultimate ADOM Early Access!

    New content:


    • Two new languages!
      • You can now play the game in French and Spanish (the latter in both a South American and a European variant).
    • Brannalbin himself has intervened and deemed magic in general too weak. As a result, all spells are now much more powerful.
    • A major new game mechanic: Possession.
      • Become a frog, a dragon, a worm, a rat, an ogre, a hill giant or anything else that crawls, sneaks, runs or slithers through the Caverns of Chaos. If you find the magical means to do so.
    • Possibly related to the previous point, the enigmatic Temple Of The Frog is no longer empty.
    • Dark Elves emerge from the Deependark to test their skills and prowess against the terrors of the Caverns of Chaos.
      • Dark Elves have access to a very special skill tree available only to them for now.
    • Originally the class was meant to be introduced much later, but as Dark Elves share a natural affinity for such things, you can now play as an Assassin and skulk in the darkness, expertly wielding poisons and the very shadows themselves as weapons.
    • Magical Wands have been implemented!
      • You can find 22 different, fully functioning wands in the dungeons below. Enjoy experimenting with them!
    • Several new skill trees make their appearance, including the first secret skill - skills that will only unlock when you meet a certain prerequisite of other skills.
      • Because this is the first of them and not terribly secret yet, you will unlock Assassination only after spending points in the Stealth skill.
      • Arachnomancy (15 skills and 10 spells) will allow the summoning of spiders and is only available to Dark Elves for now.
      • Assassination (14 skills) will greatly increase the damage dealt while sneaking, among other things.
      • Poisoning (11 skills) is the first foray into alchemy, creating poisonous concoctions and improving their efficency.
      • Finally, you can now become a deadly warrior wielding whips (with 23 skills), if that is your thing. We are not judging.
    • Some monsters have become slightly smarter and now band together, patrolling the dungeon and hunt for adventurers.
    • 11 new monster types have been added.

    Bug Fixes:


    • Potions often didnt work quite as intended. They should do that now, no matter if you coat your weapon, pour them out on the floor or actually drink them.
    • Giant spiders now actually work.
    • A ton of minor bug fixes.

    Ultimate ADOM Early Access Update #8 (v.0.8.2) has been released!

    Hear ye! Hear ye! Adventurers! Today we have released update #8 (0.8.2) for thy Ultimate ADOM Early Access!

    New content:


    • In the depths of the Caverns of Chaos (around dungeon level 11), a new unhallowed place has opened up: The Halls of the Dead contain more monsters, more loot and a lot more dangers.
    • Hill Orcs and Gnolls join the fray. Dangerous and experienced warriors and scouts, they will make the best use of weapons lying around.
    • Rune plates can now be read, as can tombstones. Beware of what you might find though.

    Graphics & UI:


    • Changes in level illumination will now shine a new light on certain levels.
    • You can now open the pause menu to save the game even when only playing with a mouse. Theres no need to reach towards the keyboard anymore, if that is the mode you prefer playing in.

    Improvements:


    • Enemies and allies are much more persistent in chasing you across different dungeon levels. No more escaping up the stairs for some quick healing!
    • Weapon stats are no longer confused by the fact theyre equipped, on the ground or in the backpack. They will always display modified statistics now, making it much easier to evaluate the power of weapons you find.
    • Cannibalism is now taken into account. And a bad thing.
    • Characters now start out with more equipment to deal with the growing challenges.
    • Chaos goo once more advances slightly faster after it was slowed a lot in the previous patch. It resists balancing, as is only proper. Let us know if you think we nailed it now!
    • Each buffing spell can now only be cast, if it is not active on you.
    • Minor changes to the tutorial based on player feedback.
    • Monsters will no longer spawn just in front of you.

    Bug Fixes:


    • Items on the ground will now finally show the correct PV and DV values.
    • Stairs and tunnels will no longer accidentally be destroyed by chaos goo.
    • Added more translations.
    • Weapon made from eternium now display statistics correctly.
    • Monster tooltips now take many more things into account when it comes to calculating likelihoods of hitting and damaging them.
    • Large hammers are now two-handed weapons as originally intended. Graft more arms if your Troll Chaosknight still wants to wield a shield!
    • Sometimes, a randomly spawned monster would cause a crash. This should no longer be the case.
    • Displacer beasts are now slightly less mysterious, and will display their stats in their tooltip.
    • Various minor bug fixes and stability enhancements, sometimes too smalle and overall too many to list them in detail.

    Ultimate ADOM Early Access Update #7 (version 0.8.1)

    Hear ye! Hear ye! Adventurers! Today we have released update #7 (0.8.1) for thy Ultimate ADOM Early Access!

    Improvements:


    • We have made massive stability improvements.
      • Most error logs should be a thing of the past from now on.
    • Based on your feedback, we have slightly slowed the inevitable crawling of ChAoS.
      • It is still dangerous to remain, but it should no longer be quite as deadly.
    • If you try to close the main window while a game is running, you can now either select to create a save game and quit, or simply continuing to play the game.
    • Corruptions are now clearly labeled as 'minor', 'major', or 'ultimate' corruptions.
    • Some corruptions did not explain in detail, what they actually did - they will now provide more elaborate explanations.
    • Tooltips have been updated to provide more information of special abilities from various items, skills and corruptions.
    • Eating corpses has become more fun. Several new effects have been added.
    • Non-English-speakers rejoice! There have been many improvements to German and Simplified Chinese localizations. Additionally, we have also started laying the foundations for French and Spanish translations, which will be heading to the game very soon.
    • We have reworked the way we collect data and error logs. You can now easily opt in or opt out of the data collection during gameplay, which is also the reason why we need to ask you for the permission once again, when you start the game.

    New game settings:


    • You can now modify the way you want to play the game! Toggling these will result in an unbalanced game experience and thus not generate a highscore entry. Also, please note that this is a highly experimental feature and will not receive the same attention as the default game, because we need to finish work on the core features first before we can fine-tune alternative game modes.
    • Diagonal Movement
    • Permadeath
    • German and Simplified Chinese made it into the game already, with more languages coming soon! With real grammar support, getting better with every release (correct multi-lingual grammar is a real challenge when you have complex procedurally generated content).

    New content:


  • New profession: The Chaos Knight stomps all opposition beneath an iron-clad foot! Or tentacle, as you will.
  • New race: The mighty trolls have arrived to shake the very mountains with their battle cries! Play your first large-sized monster. Large muscles, large appetite, small brains all a troll can dream of. Make sure to carry around plenty of provisions with you!
  • Corruption consumes the dungeon!
    • 70 corruptions (minor, major, ultimate) now are part of the game and will alter both your gaming experience and your character forever. Grow wings or prehensile tails, wrestle enemies with your tentacles, sweat maggots, summon chaos imps, breath lighting or acid ChAoS hath no boundaries! Note that nearly all monsters can receive most of these corruptions, too. So the more corrupted the overall dungeon gets, the more likely you are to encounter weird new (and more powerful) monsters that have been altered by corruptions and try to utilize them to their advantage!
    • But beware - too much corruption comes at a prize only those of strong personality can suffer! The higher your charisma, the more corruptions you can sustain before turning you into an unfortunate blob of raw ChAoS!
  • At some point during your dungeon delving, ChAoS will awaken - and it becomes a race against time, so dont tarry too long in accomplishing your mission!
  • The food system has been implemented. You now can grow hungry and eat foot to counter that (and corpses - but beware: corpses will often have side effects). More than 70 types of food are looking forward to trying your palate!
  • Gaining levels now affects your attribute scores and various other stats (like combat probabilities). The specific details depend on your chosen profession. A higher-level fighter will have an easier time hitting those pesky displacer beasts now!
  • You now can choose various attack modes via a button to the lower left or the key z (US keyboard layout). Due to corruptions or other circumstances, you might want to switch between kicking, biting, spitting, clawing, using your melee weapons, etc. Any being can have an arbitrary number of such modes and they now can be selected in an easy way. If youre strong enough you can even punch walls now without being afraid to destroy your precious weapon!
  • Lots of new items (a total of more than 2.240.804 new items):
  • 4 new base cloak types plus random modifications for cloaks that add 3.863 new cloak types to the game
  • 38 new random armor modifications add a total of 2.232.219 new armor types to the game
  • Random modifications for headgear add a total of 3.863 new headgear types to the game.
  • 4 new base gauntlet types plus random modifications for girdles that add 504 new girdle types to the game
  • 9 new base girdle types plus random modifications for girdles that add 672 new gauntlet types to the game
  • 2 new predefined artifacts
  • You can get rid of cursed and doomed states.
  • Fortune cookies can now be found and contain useful messages. For those who can read.
  • Gems now stack.

    Input handling:


    • Gamepad support is now disabled by default because it could create some weird inputs when other devices like joysticks were plugged in. If you wish to play with a controller, you have to enable gamepad support first.

    Performance:


    • Dying now is much faster (for both yourself and the monsters you slay, if they carry a large amount of items).
    • Map and monster generation is now less memory intensive and should be much faster.
    • Spawning monsters no longer should have a serious impact on performance.

    Important changes:


    • The key to activate camera rotation was changed from alt/ctrl to the shift keys. We decided to change these to prevent conflicts with key combinations used by the operating system (e.g. alt+tab on Windows). Please let us know if you want to be able to remap these keys!
    • Summoning has been balanced and although it now is less realistic (for a given value of realism) it hopefully is more fun to fight summoners.
    • Spawning has been reduced in the big room and Lake Gloom.

    Bug fixes:


    • A few remaining grafting bugs have been fixed. Grafted bodyparts now should work under all circumstances and in all combinations.
    • Multiple monster attacks now work. Beware of things that bite and claw!
    • Pouring potions on the floor once again works.
    • The tutorial no longer starts with the Mad Minstrel introduction. His madness will now only affect the foolish brave, starting with him as a patron.
    • Items now are immune to various effects such as poisoning and bleeding.
    • Starting with points invested in the blunt weapon skill tree no longer provides excessive equipment.
    • Artifacts will no longer be generated more than once for each type.
    • Oil spilled from burning braziers now continues to burn properly again.
    • Inferno and poison cloud spells no longer crash the system when getting into contact.
    • Artifacts are now true artifacts - indestructible and loaded with other goodies. Of course, enemies will make use of them too.
    • In some cases, average damage, damage ranges and hit probabilities were incorrectly calculated in tooltips. This has been fixed.
    • You can no longer sneak attack with spells.
    • Fixed various missing monster stat definitions.
    • Bracers that did not work will no longer be generated.
    • Potions of gain attributes now work (and are slightly stronger).
    • Tooltip caching problems have been fixed. This means all stat tooltips should update immediately.
    • Hive monsters no longer will accidentally enter tunnel entrances. Neither will summoned monsters.
    • A rare bug leading into a crash, when entering the worm tunnels, has been fixed.
    • Randomly generated artifacts will now actually apply the indicated stat bonuses.
    • And many more smaller, most likely less noticeable bugs, too many and too small to list them all, have been tackled and fixed.

    Ultimate ADOM Early Access Update #5 (v.0.7.5) has been released!

    Hear ye! Hear ye! Adventurers! Today we have released update #5 for thy Ultimate ADOM Early Access!

    New content:


    • The first new playable race since the Alpha is out now!
      • War drums echo in the hidden valleys and caves of the Drakalor Chain.
      • The orcs are coming, and every now and then, one submits to the political parties that plague Ancardia.
    • Our prefix and suffix system are now in play for all melee weapons. This roughly equates to over 200 million new weapons to find and experiment with.
    • 33 magical rings have been activated and are now fully functional.
      • You finally have a reason to graft additional fingers now.
    • 15 new monsters have been added, including entirely new abilites.
    • New abilities monsters can use are:
      • summoning support troops
      • teleportation
      • teleportation control
      • breath attacks (which may also damage equipment)
      • self-duplicating monsters, burrowing and dissolving items on the ground.
      Beware of gelatinous cubes! You can graft several bodyparts granting you some of these abilities.
    • There is a sulfurous smell in the air, and a tingle of gold.
      • The Dragons Lair now welcomes treasure-seekers. For a certain value of welcomes. Did we mention we have monsters with breath attacks now? Yes, we did.
    • New custom characters will now have a wider array of starting equipment, also based on their race.
    • Ant Colonies and Beehives are back! - The feared ant colonies have made it into Ultimate ADOM, as have beehives.
      • Destroy those nests quickly or flee from the horde of monsters these will spawn over time.
    • Your chosen faction or patron will now take a much more active interest in what you are doing in the Caverns of Chaos and may reward you for performing the things they desire you to do.
    • All runes now have descriptions and no longer require you to guess what they are doing when attaching to armor or weapon.
    • One new trap type added.
    • There is one blasphemous creature in the dungeon not believing in non-diagonal movement. You may acquire its powers if you really want to, though it comes at a price.

    User Interface & Controls:


    • The game now allows you to change the input mapping and to remap keys and gamepad buttons very easily.
      • You can also change the JSON file in the Ultimate ADOM installation direction with the input mapping directly if you absolutely desire. Please only do so if you know what youre doing, else you may need to reinstall the game.
    • Tooltips are now a lot less messy and follow a much clearer information hierarchy.
    • Monster tooltips now provide a much clearer overview about the core monster abilities.
    • Weapon tooltips now very clearly put weapon damage capabilities to the forefront.
    • Armor tooltips focus on protective capabilities (primarily) and evasive capabilities secondarily.
    • Rune slots on items are visualized much more clearly.
    • The raw power of weapons and protective items is now calculated by the game, disregarding any special abilities you might find interesting. You will now receive a hint (both visually and in the tooltip) if you find an item potentially more powerful than your current equipment.
    • Dragging items from the backpack to a slot with an equipped item now exchanges the items immediately. This now also works when dragging items to your equipment directly from the ground.
    • You can now click on an item in your backpack to equip it without specifying a target slot. This will replace the currently equipped armor or the potentially least useful weapon or shield you have equipped. You can, of course, (and probably should) still drag things to the slots you want to replace just to make sure the right items get swapped. But you do not have to.
    • To prevent accidental deaths or waste of resources, particularly dangerous or harmless monsters now indicate their power with colored symbols.
    • New context menus allow you to equip items from the backpack or from the ground.

    Miscellaneous:


    • The worm tunnels should now only challenge your skills, not your computer. Major performance updates regarding this area.
    • Some general performance improvements related to processing bodypart capabilities.
    • Monsters trying to kill you will now behave in a smarter way than before.

    Important bug fixes:


    • A deep architecture change caused an unexpected side effect preventing grafted body parts from working properly. This has been fixed, and now additional arms, fingers etc will work again. Thanks, Grond for finding that one!
    • Hands are now again part of freshly grafted arms.
    • Power point reduction skills will reduce the cost of power points once more.
    • Corpses should no longer randomly spawn without body parts to butcher.
    • If you voluntarily stop stealth and then restart it, your stealth point pool is fully regenerated.
    • You can no longer animate chaos rune ground features.
    • Many additional minor bug fixes and stability improvements.

    Internationalization:


    • We are currently working on German, French, Spanish and Simplified Chinese to be in the game soon. This required a lot of internal changes and improvements for correct grammar handling.
      • The one effect you will notice is that monster names, professions and races are now correctly gendered.

    Known issues:


    • Due to a bug in the Unity framework, you might not be able to use the Shift-key for key combinations on Linux.
      • This only affects Linux users, and will hopefully be fixed in the next Unity update.

    The Easter Orcs are coming and they bring even more surprises!

    Hear ye, Adventurers! A massive patch is hitting our Early Access next week, just in time for the Easter weekend. Here are a few highlights you can expect:

    The orcs are coming!


    This powerful war-like race becomes playable as you venture into the mysterious caves of the Drakalor Chain for the glory of your faction.

    Dozens of new monsters and dungeon features!


    The mostly feared ant colonies are back, as are beehives! Additionally, some monsters will have interesting special abilities, such as teleportation, breath attacks or burrowing, and their limbs may grant you their special abilities if grafted to your body.

    Quests!


    To start with, at least. The major quest update is planned for the end of the Early Access, but your factions will give you guidance of what they expect you to do in the Caverns of Chaos and reward you for completing those steps.

    Remapping key- and gamepad controls!


    You also will be able to remap keys and gamepad controls as you wish, something that many players have requested.

    And many, many more surprises, bug fixes and improvements!

    Ultimate ADOM Early Access Update #4 (v.0.7.4)

    Adventurers! We are happy to be able to release Ultimate ADOM 0.7.4.!

    Important Notice:


    Please note that save games are not yet backwards compatible. If you want to continue playing an older save game, you need to play an older version of Ultimate ADOM on Steam.

    Content:


    • The tutorial has been completely overhauled.
      • Learn about grafting, stealth and coating your weapons with potions!
      • Additionally, it has become a mini game of its own, worthy of Grond and Adam.
      • Enjoy learning all about dying in rogue-like games!
    • The earlier stages of Literacy are now also worthwhile to invest, as you can actually read scrolls now, even if there are not so many of them, yet.

    UI:


    • Skill management is much more manageable now.
      • Now you can read the full skill description by selecting the skill with a single mouse click and learn a skill by using double click.

    Controls:


    • Sections and selections (used for keyboard/gamepad control) keep their old state when the UI is refreshed. This improves the handling of the skill management and inventory (and other elements).
    • You have more options to pick up things via keyboard now:
      • The <,> key now always picks up all items on the ground, although it stops before reaching a crushing encumbrance level.
      • + <,> now always opens the inventory with the "ground" section selected to pick up specific items more efficiently.

    Miscellaneous improvements:


    • Lava now continuously burns, instead of just burning once, when pushing things into it.

    Bugs:


    • More items can be used now.
    • The straw test dummy can no longer bleed.
    • Animated beings float correctly again now, instead of being either in the ceiling or in the ground.
    • Several tool tips are displayed correctly and immediately now.

    Ultimate ADOM Early Access Community-Feedback Update (0.7.3) released!

    Adventurers! We are happy to be able to release Ultimate ADOM 0.7.3.!

    The most important changes:


    • Powerful artifacts have made it into the hands of dungeon denizens! Starting at level 3, watch out for powerful enemies you might be better off avoiding, though the items they carry might be worth the risk.
    • Food will now heal you slightly, if consumed.
    • Lots of new keyboard commands: 'v' to cast a spell, 1 to 0 to directly use the hotbar and single items are now picked up without opening the inventory. And there's even more though!
    • Resting until healing, and resting until power recharge.
    • Better controller support.
    • Many UI changes, like e.g. a permanently open game log, which you can toggle in the options.
    • Some balancing changes, e.g. tuning down some weapon skills, which were scaling too much damage.

    Enhancements:


    Content:


    • The caverns just got a lot more deadly. Starting at dungeon level 3, you may encounter powerful mini boss monsters carrying unique artifacts with them. Don't forget that avoiding powerful enemies is a valid response! Defeating these creatures will tax your mastery of your skills.
    • Food no longer is useless. While Hunger and the full Food system (including the beloved feasting on enemy corpses to gain new abilities) will not make it into the game before March, you no longer have to rely on harvesting food items for them to benefit you. Consuming food will now provide a small health boost.

    Keyboard controls:


    • Now, you can cast spells directly via 'v' verbalising them without going through the action menu.
    • Healing until rested (or interupted) is now available by holding 'Shift' and either or <5> on the Numpad. Like auto-exploring, you can stop this at any time by pressing a key, clicking the mouse or the gamepad.
    • If you hold 'Shift' and 'v', your character will rest until interrupted, or when at full Power for more spellcasting.
    • In addition to using or <5> on the numpad to wait a turn, you can now also use '.' as used by other rogue-likes.
    • If you press ',' to pick up items and a single item is lying on the ground it is directly picked up without having to open the inventory.
    • The entries in the toolbar can now be activated with the hotkeys '1' to '0.

    Gamepad controls:


    • The repeat delay and repeat rate can now be configured separately from the keyboard settings. By our experience, the new defaults were slightly too fast for controllers.
    • You can now pick up items with the button.
    • The dead zones for some gamepad axis are now increased which should prevent getting erroneous input from other input devices that use the same axis (e.g. HOTAS setups).

    Tooltips:


    • Item weight no longer is shown in the item tooltips, because our current inventory system is slot-based instead of weight-based right now.

    UI:


    • The game log is shown all the time now. You can change this in the settings or simply change the transparency.
    • Certain panels should no longer look weird on very wide displays.
    • Now, the game is allowed to render in the background (on Windows), making it a true borderless window. E.g. if you press Alt+Tab, the start menu will open now on top of the game window, instead of minimizing it.
    • The saved games list displays now, which saved games are compatible with the current game version and which ones are not.
    • The default speed for animations has been reduced back again to saner levels. You can still change it to whatever speed you prefer. You (speed-)monster.

    Balancing:


    • Weapon skills have been toned down, as they scaled the possible damage up way too far.
    • Dworjalf is no longer the one-man-army-dwarf he used to be. He will deal slightly less damage with his axes, and will take slightly more damage now.
    • Tisseth is now skilled in using the quarterstaff she starts with. She lost all interest in archery.

    Misc:


    • Now, we create a backup of a saved game before it will be overwritten. There is no automatic recovery, yet.
    • You will find more armor and weapons from different materials, especially as you venture deeper into the caves.
    • Slain monsters will take expensive items with them upon their deaths much less often.
    • Size no longer matters. You can now wear any armor and wield any weapon you find.

    Fixes


    Important Fixes:


    • Fixed the spell buff skills for increased range and damage. Most did not quite work out as we expected.
    • Items on the ground are now shown correctly after loading a game.
    • The low hitpoints warning border is restored correctly now, after loading a game.
    • Encumbrance always is now correctly updated, when you pick up or drop items in the inventory screen.
    • Tooltips in the inventory screen are now always correctly updated, when equipment changes.
    • Items lying at your position are now shown directly after loading a game.
    • A lot of fixes entering new maps.
    • And lots of minor bug-fixing and fine-tuning.

    Ultimate ADOM: State of the Game

    Fellow adventurers,


    First and foremost, with the most recent update we added Load & Save function as well as the ability to adjust the animations speed and fixed a couple of other bugs. Full Changelog here

    Today, we would like to address your comments about the state of the Early Access content-wise, including our plans for future updates.


    We have a long road ahead of us and being in Early Access brings its own challenges with it. We are fully aware that our game lacks certain features that one might expect at Early Access start. Surely, this can be partly attributed to us working much longer than anticipated on the Load & Save feature as stated in our first statement. But theres more to the story. We went into Early Access, knowingly that the game was missing certain features. Our goal was and will always be to include the community as closely as possible to the development of the title. This has proven to be a great success for ADOM and we are certain, in the long run, this will also prove to be true for Ultimate ADOM. You may think So, why not wait a couple of months? This time, we dont want to be in a situation, where people ask for features and we cant add them anymore, because the games code prohibits it at one point. For example, in the original ADOM we would have loved to add more features, but since the code is in parts very confusing and prone to bugs and errors, we thought we do it right from the get-go this time. This means involving the community as early as possible and presenting a development roadmap, so we stay more flexible when it comes to feedback. We really want to encourage you to share your feedback with us, we are listening on Steam, on the forums, on social media, everywhere! So please keep it coming. Additionally we spent a long time longer than anticipated to develop a fantasy physics engine that will allow us to rather easily add features rarely if ever seen in most roguelikes: animating anything in the world and imbibing it with life based on its physical properties is one such example, being able to graft body-parts to gain special powers bestowed by the body of the original monster is another one and we dont just want to stop there. Being able to combine these things (e.g. animating a plate armor as a living construct, attaching orc arms wielding axes to it and sending it onto a rampage after coating it with poison) will create unique moments for the player. Not to mention the more mundane stuff like being able to burn any wooden thing, freeze liquids or have things float down a river. And thats just the start. Now that the basics are in place, we will focus on adding more content. Experience with ADOM taught us that you, the community probably is going to have a ton of wild and crazy ideas wed never be able to come up with. Thats what we are looking for. Finally, we decided to try a new user interface approach. We strongly believe that roguelike games should not be confined to a niche. But classical roguelikes utilize convoluted UIs and are very hard to get for mainstream gamers. So, we decided to deviate from my established roguelike standards in order to widen our audience and the attention for roguelikes in general. We knew that the hardcore fans of ADOM initially probably would disagree with some of our more aggressive changes (diagonal movement, I hear you) but we still believe that the combination of a number of features (four-way movement, automatic detection of secret doors, 90% transparency regarding monster and item stats, etc.) deserve to be tested in-depth. As well as a user interface that really tries to work for keyboard, mouse and controller or any combination thereof. Such an endeavor requires constant feedback. And thats yet another reason why we didnt want to start in a much more complete state: Late changes cost a lot more time and money than changes based on early feedback. We understand that the initial lack of content might feel underwhelming. The underlying game engine now is in a state that allows for very quick progress and creative ideas delivered by the community are one of our great motivators. Rest assured, you can expect more content, more bug fixes and more quality-of-life improvements within the next couple of days and weeks, as we work tirelessly to deliver an ADOM worthy experience.     Ultimate ADOM Early Access Save/Load-Update (v.0.7.2) has been released!

    Adventurers! We are happy to be able to release Ultimate ADOM 0.7.2. The most important feature is the fully integrated load & save feature that was missing from the initial release due to complications, which we have explained in detail here: https://www.ultimate-adom.com/index.php/2021/02/19/ultimate-adom-load-save-clarification/ Please be aware: With this latest update, you can load and save your game at any time and continue later on. But please keep in mind that you are playing a roguelike game: When you die your save game will be deleted. Death is final. Unless you decide to cheat. Which the gods and the random number generator probably will take revenge for at some point.

    Community Feedback: Game was received being too slow.


    Even more great news, as there is one additional big enhancement addressing the feedback we have received so far: People perceived the game as sluggish and too slow. Some even voiced concerns that the complexity of the engine will prevent the game from ever being fast. Therefore:
    • We have changed animation speed to now have faster animations
    • Further on, you can configure the setting yourself with a new slider in the Settings menu.
    • Combat now is a lot faster and I think we might have overdone it because you can barely see the animations and the characters just seem to twitch. With said slider you can adjust this to your preference, and we will try to find the right middle ground during this week.
    That does not mean we wont optimize performance a lot more in the months to come. But we wanted to assure you that there is no fundamental problem with the engine. Therefore, enjoy the blazing new speed and let us know what you think about that, too!

    Below you can find a list of additional fixes in this update:


    • The keypad can be used now for movement and selection input, too.
    • The action button flash can now be turned off in the settings.
    • A problem with tunnel connections on maps has been fixed.
    • A variety of minor bug fixes and fine tuning has been done during the weekend in addition.

    What comes next?


    At the end of this week, we hope to release Update #3, addressing many of the bugs reported plus various quality of life improvements. Afterwards follow-up updates will focus on adding more content, bug fixes and a continuing stream of UI enhancements based on community feedback. Additionally, we welcome all suggestions for things you would like to see (besides content you can expect at any rate like more magical items, artifacts and so on).

    Ultimate ADOM: Loading & Saving


    Load & Save is coming soon. If we hadnt stumbled upon a serious internal bug it would have been part of the EA release. We are working on it and expect to provide ASAP. So what happened? Why are we going to EA without such an important feature, knowing full well people usually don't like leaving their computers running for hours? It's quite simple: It's entirely our fault. The first is that we've been overly optimistic about our ability to get Saving and Loading into the game in a way that works instead of most often placing you into a mirror universe of the one you left when saving, where things roughly look the same but don't, and bugs will murder, corrupt and crash you, and not in a good way. In short: The solution we thought would work didn't quite, and we feel that the frustration of trying to load a game that would then crash around you would have been much higher than not being able to save and load at all. Ultimate ADOM: Caverns of Chaos is still an Early Access game, and as such there are some core features missing. We have recently published a roadmap where we outline where the next big features such as Hunger and Corruption (in April), better combat options and AI (in June) or enemy spellcasters (in August) will make it into the game. Your feedback, both positive and negative, is very valuable to us and very welcome. In the next few days, we are focusing nearly exclusively to getting Saving and Loading into the game in a way that works for everyone. Thank you for your patience!     Ultimate ADOM Early Access Bugfix-Update #1 (v.0.7.1) has been released!

    Adventurers! The first Bugfix-Update for Ultimate ADOM is already available!

    Enhancements:


    • The skills in the Scavenger skill tree did not work properly. Now you can find even more loot.
    • Claw bugs are slightly more common now.
    • Monsters carrying loot now always carry their loot in their backpack. Therefore, they need to have a backpack for loot. This means no more owlbears with helmets!

    Fixes:


    • Removed time-modifier debug option which frees the F12 key for Steam screenshots.
    • Chat diary entries can now be opened from the main menu if no game was started before.
    • The jumping range was unlimited and you could lock up the game by jumping into non-visible areas.
    • Some layout issues with long high score description texts were solved.
    • Fixed some priest spell issues in ASCII mode.

    Ultimate ADOM: Caverns of Chaos Entering Early Access February 18th, 2021!

    Together with developer Team ADOM we announced today that our modern-meets-classic rogue-like dungeon crawler Ultimate ADOM - Caverns of Chaos will enter Early Access on February 18th, 2021 for Windows PC, Mac, and Linux via ye olde Steam platform. Ultimate ADOM: Caverns of Chaos blends a traditional roguelike formula think procedurally generated levels, monsters, and items with modern trappings, providing a challenging, addictive experience that encourages experimentation and replayability. Ultimate ADOM: Caverns of Chaos returns players to the world of Ancardia, currently enjoying a rather suspicious lull in cataclysmic events. Unfortunately, something is a stirrin below, and its up to you to head down into the darkness and see what sort of evil is brewing. Luckily for you, there is an endless combination of spells, weapons, and abilities to get you through the dungeon safely... perhaps not the first time, or the second time, but definitely at some point. Bringing together the past and the present, Ultimate ADOM: Caverns of Chaos contains all the hallmarks of the genre but with contemporary stylings and additions for current hardware, like a modern user-interface and support for controllers. Players can also choose between a slick new graphic mode and the more classic ASCII look, on top of the ability to toggle between 3D and top-down view.

    Features and Gameplay


    • Ultimate ADOM is a modern reimagining of traditional rogue-like dungeon-crawling.

    • Endless procedurally generated dungeons, countless monsters, items and a grand selection of very different skills allow for unlimited replayability

    • Intuitive control system will get rid of the need to memorize hundreds of keys. Though you can still do so, if you're into that. We are not judging.

    • Your chosen class, gender, race and allegiance will change the way the game challenges you. NPCs will react differently, new quests will be open to you and the world may change completely based on your performance.

    • A deep magic system with several unique schools of magic and dozens of spells per school. Flaming auras that damage nearby enemies, cold snaps that freeze rivers, animating the very walls of the dungeon to aid you - everything is possible.

    • A stealth system introduces a totally new way of playing the game: Instead of hacking or blasting all opposition to pieces you now can sneak past adversaries and avoid conflict by silently sneaking out of deadly situations.

    • Interactive items! Topple braziers to spill their burning oil on unsuspecting enemies. Push coffins to block passage ways, or smash them in hopes of loot. Lock doors, smash them, open them or turn them into wooden golems to (hopefully) serve your bidding.

    • Turn yourself into an abomination and graft your enemies’ body parts on yourself. They won’t need them any more, and what is better than wielding two swords? Two swords and an axe to harvest more bodyparts than ever before.

    • Choose or toggle between graphic mode and traditional ASCII at any time. Toggle between 3d mode and top down view, in ASCII or in the graphic mode. Toggle everything you wish, we probably have a game mode just for you.

    • “Play the way you want” – countless options of how to tackle the dungeons awaiting you. Befriend or tame creatures, slay monsters, delve deeper or keep exploring and expanding the cavern levels you have already found. Set traps and smash doors, or unlock them with the keys you found. Push coffins and other objects!
