if you're interested you can wishlist the game and after the 13th buy it here slight warning, english is my 2nd language and i got dyslexia and i'm just a really ramblying person when i write longer stuff, this is a really long text of me describing the sequel. I've worked hard most of this year now on the squeal to this game and it's nearing steam release now. while still in early development it is a lot more advanced, better looking and more fun already! my aim is to make it what i wanted out of this game but couldn't because i was in school and still very new to game development when i started development of earthroyale (1st game started development with me having 2 years of experience with this squeal starting development with me having around 4-5 years) it's the same chaotic observation game with random generation at the core of the game play but now having each pixel being interactive, 3 map size options (biggest is 8192x4096 pixels big and smallest is 2048x1025 pixels big) all map sizes have 4 map version of them Un map (Only un recognized borders and countries) De facto map (My attempt at adding all countries / organized groups in control of territory with somewhat up to date borders based on who has military control over what area, some areas are a bit out of date or has stuff missing due to me not being informed or because of near daily border changes) and then both of those 2 have a variant with some micro nations added to them with more micro nations most likely being added in the future. and on top of that there is 2 visual ways of displaying the map in game, globe mode (the way i prefair and the game is mostly developed in) and flat mode (normal flat map) this causes there to be at this point 4 map sizes, 4 map options, 2 map display options and therefore a total of 16 map options and while not done yet there is a city map with over 1300+ cities on it, a subdivision map with nearly all countries subdivisions on it but it's still being planned and also ethnicity / culture and sub continent map options but they are not in any form of development yet. all of those will be playable map options later on and most likely also have a similar turn on and off individual countries cities / subdivisions / whatever just like in EarthRoyale There is also plans to add other planets with most work on the moon already being done (just need to get done with colonizing code and plan out the events leading to the start of moon colonization beforehand) Right now there is support for fully custom map however decided to require you to use 3rd party painting apps to make them instead of making a in game paintmode again, tutorials are in the works for it but it is really simple. (unlike in earthroyale, you can make new landmasses and so on to make whatever you want) this all will hopefully lead to having truly infinite options of maps to play with! for events there is some big changes, first of all the game is now "semi turn based" there is turns but each turn is real time and real time stuff happens during the turns there is right now 3 types of events Turn based (main focus events, usually wars and only allow 1 at a time to help you not miss anything happening) right now there is 3 + 2 (or more) in development Divide/all vs 1 war (all countries bordering or nearby a specific country declare war on them and only ends if the attacked country is defeated or a peace treaty is signed) Referendum Failed / 1v1 war (A country holds a referendum to be annexed by a nearby country but votes no, a war between the 2 countries start and it only ends if it either other nearby country joins the war (converts it to a all vs 1 war) or if one of the 2 countries is fully defeated or if a peace treaty is signed) Referendum Success / annex (a country holds a referendum to be annexed by a nearby country and votes yes, they get fully annexed within just a few days of time) i'm also working on civil war based events (similar to the split and independence events in EarthRoyale) and while i'm hoping for them to be done before release there is a possibility it will be released a few days after) Real time events (secondary events that can happen at the same time as turn based events, event dependent events and other real time events but might not always be super important for you to focus on) right now there is 3 Flood (water starts spreading onto land from any shore pixel and covers a area with similar height on the height map with water, this water is mostly permanent and will create a new shoreline / creates obstacles for countries to get around when in wars) Drain Singular (A country starts draining lakes or oceans within a random radius and in similar height level to a selected shoreline pixel, this is permanent and expands the country / creates a new shoreline and makes invading other countries easier) Drain Shared (Same as Drain singular but each pixel is given to the closest country) Event Dependent events (Events that can only happen while a specific event is happening) right now there is 2 Naval invasion (a random pixel is selected on a country's shore line and it looks for the easiest place to invade, can only happen during wars and if at least 1 country on each side has a shoreline) Peace treaty (Happens if a war has been going on for too long or if there is a stalemate, attempts to clean up the border and remove most exclaves and encirclement created by the war and ends the conflict) on top of all this the end of each event isn't determined emedietly anymore and the visual changes of events isn't just a glorified loading screen and are instead actual invasions happening with constant changes that might change the outcomes a lot of hard work has gone into this and i got a lot of big plans already in the works and soon in the works so a really hope you're as excited as me for the future!
I've worked hard now for roughly a year and the sequel to this game is now starting to get ready for a steam release. you can now Wishlist it here it does not and won't have as many features as this game for a bit since it's more polished, have bigger more detailed maps, multiple in game map options and is using a more advanced system (no more provinces and instead each pixel is effected by the game) and have had a smaller development time so far but it will release in early access and be worked on after the release in December Can't wait to show more of the game and getting feedback on it! also small note to decrease confusion, earthroyale is actually a sequel to a old (kinda shitty) game not on steam called europeroyale which is why the sequel to earthroyale is numbered 3
There is good and sad and good news in this First of the 2 year anniversary map is live right now, sadly i did have to resort to uploading it using the steam workshop instead of inside of the game like i planned, you can subscribe to it/ download it right now here on the worse news, I've come to the realization that v15 can't happen at this point due to me dealing with stuff in my life that have made me have really low energy to working on this game taking a lot of energy like I've mentioned before, i did a short vote in the games discord server where i asked if it's ok for me to half cancel v15 and focus more on the sequel and also went into slightly more detail why i think it's needed and most people voted that it was ok this means that from this day forward ER is no longer in early access and i will see it as done, i might still work on patches and small updates but i won't be focusing on this game anymore. and lastly on better news the sequel to the game is progressing kind of fast as it's something that i really enjoy working on and gives me a lot of energy, there won't be a steam page for it in a long while but if you want info about it, suggest something and more you can always go to my twitter account or join the games discord server i hope you've enjoyed the game and look forwards that might comes next ^^ /Lizzy
As the core code of earthroyale is over 2 and a half years old (prob like 4 years if you include the game that earthroyale is technically a sequel to but also was built on top of) and the first playable version was done 2 years ago aaand the core was made when i still went to school and honestly really sucked at coding, the game has turned into hell to update and bug fix. therefore i have started work a bit ago on a sequel to ER that has no official release date but I'm aiming on late 2024 or early 2025 but I'm still working on a last update before I'll mostly leave Earth Royale alone. I've noticed all last year and this year that whenever i work on EarthRoyale it's constantly "oh i changed this one thing that made this entire 3 year old bit of code that's super badly made stop working but the entire game needs that code to work to be playable" over and over again and has made even the smallest updates and changes takes weeks or months to make and due to how the game is made to have custom maps i had to add a paintmode which makes each change need to be done 2 times and then also the way saves are made added basically a 3rd time i need to add each new feature and it's just not working to continue working with this game therefore I'm trying to make some last changes, new features and bug fixes currently and will release what I'm able to make as one last update, so if there's anything in the game you think should be included in this update please comment on this post, as i will be looking here and on the old post where i ask about basically the same thing back when i thought I'd be able to do a way bigger last update for any ideas you might have, though please no large scale complete game changing ideas. I'm also currently looking for feedback, requests and just any ideas anyone might have for the sequel to the game as it's in very early stages of development and i want to really get the core of it to be amazing I'm, also sharing way to much info of the sequel in twitter and discord so if you want to be spammed with images from the sequel you can look there. on 1/1/2023 V1 turned 2 years old with the game having been in development most likely for around 2 and a half year now. sadly that date was directly after i, the only developer of the game started feeling better after having been sick with 2 sicknesses in a row for around 7 weeks so i had no time to do anything before the anniversary. but i do want to make something for it and thought a temporary optional in game map where all countries, cities, provinces and more are replaced by player submitted ones would be a fun way to get back into working again and celebrate the game being way older than it feels like it is. When submitting you need to write a country name, rough description of where the country is/ how big and a capital name + location you can also send in a optional image of a map of the country, any cities (need location and name per city), world wonders (need location, name and a prestige value between 0 and10) or volcanoes (need location + name + size between 1 and 10) within the country' you can submit multiple of cities, volcanoes and world wonders by just writing multiples preferably on 1 or more rows each. you can also submit your discord name if you're in the discord server i can use it to contact you and ask for any info missing or extra stuff needed while I am puzzling together the map cultures, provinces and culture unions will be asked about later when the full country map is done. all submitted country's might not be added or gain all wanted provinces due to overlap but will try to add as many as possible. I found the issue with saves today (been really busy with irl stuff and working on new game so took time to find time to do it) It's that the antarctica treaty numbers in the save file includes decimals and then the game tries to convert it to a variable that can't handle decimals, causing a error and therefore stops the rest of the save being loaded in and the map from refreshing. to fix it, simply go to the folder users/(your pc user name)/appdata/locallow/dafaultcompany/earthroyale then choose what type of save to fix (Scenario,Paintmode or just saves) then choose the save, then go into the Antarcticatreaty text file and remove all decimal numbers (the game requires there to still be 4 numbers in there with a % dividing them, just no decimals). after next bug patch that part of the save file will support having decimals and therefore all old save files will work again, this is just a quick temp fix to make your saves work now
I've been slightly burnt out on EarthRoyale the past month or so and used this time to make a new game instead of staring at a wall trying to force myself to work on ER. it's a constant forward moving 3D "Platformer" where you compete for the top spot on a online leaderboard (as always idk really what genre to put my games under) and is a sequel to a sequel of some of my earliest games when i just started learning programming. The game will be releasing in early October, will be free to play but include in game purchases, and launch with a competition during the first week with maybe a price. will start working on the last 2 ER updates again once the new game is launched. you can Wishlist it already here

First of, if you want to watch everything new in the update before the release, there will be a showcase stream here on the 13th / 1 day before the update and DLC release V14 Brings a lot of visual changes to the game like oceans no longer being a big flat colour and instead having a texture that slowly moves, fire and the new province type lava having smoke over it, There is a new updated map for the native reservoirs within USA to be accurate to their actual shape and one new reservoir added (it had the super cute name "rosebud" so i had to add it). and like 3 small southern island has been moved to antarctica and is no longer in the base game (this should have nearly no effect on people who don't get the DLC and only makes sense as they are a part of the Antarctic continent) There is also a new world border as while working on the update I got annoyed at how the oceans are infinite, this world border will be togglable however incase you preferer the infinite ocean look. and i think the biggest most energy draining visual change, new text placement code. the game will now auto generate areas to place the text within instead of using 1 per country per sub continent, so now each country will have 1 text per area where all provinces border each other. There has been 4 new events added and 1 event that has gained 3 (5 with the DLC) new variants of it The first event added is "fortification" this event makes a country fortify a random notable site, this can be a city, world wonder or nuclear site. however the game will always pick the country's capital if it isn't already fortified and will favor cities. after a province is fortified it will stop the province from changing hands 1, no matter what way it changes owner, Annexation, split, union, natural disaster, everything but the fortified status is removed immediately after it has been used. the 2nd new event is "Volcanic Eruption" there has been 20 (23 if you own the DLC) Volcanoes added to the game map, each one with their own size/strength, if a country owns a volcano it will give a slight score boost, but if the eruption event happens the volcano will start spreading lava in multiple directions (depends on volcano size and location how many directions) creating a spider web ish pattern of lava, the lava then will each turn have a high chance of lighting 1 or more provinces around it on fire, but the lava will disappear after a while. the 3rd and 4th event are sorta connected the 3rd is "advanced robotics" this event will give a random country a prestige boost if their city is selected, that city will then get the status of having advanced robotics, any city in a country with a minimum of 1 city with advanced robotics will automatically gain the status a well. and the 4th event is "robot uprising" this event selects a random city with the advanced robotics status and creates a new randomly generated Robot or AI nation, it can however only happen to countries with more than one city and then the changed event is hurricane, if a hurricane goes over Fire, Flooded or lava province the hurricane will pick it up, changes it's colour and start spreading that province type, there is 2 more province types that this can happen to that will be mention in the DLC section of the post. and lastly there has been 4 new camera movement buttons added Q and E now rotates the camera and R and F now tilts the camera, though I do recommend not using it too much, just a fun quick thing I added the zoom speed has also been changed to be slower the more zoomed in you are and the area the camera can be in and start location of camera has changed slightly And then the big thing, AntarcticaRoyale, This DLC adds the entire continent of Antarctica to the game with multiple starting settings (claims, unclaimed, snow, glacier, research bases and off) and with that there's also 2 new province types, "Snow" which slowly turns into floods over time as it melts and "Glacier" which is un destructible (sorta) and creates snow around it over time, there is a lot of glaciers in antarctica at start but it can also be found in Alaska, Greenland and Siberia There is a new "status" for the entire game called "Antarctica treaty" It's a treaty that creates a few randomized negative score effects on any country claiming antarctica, 1 for having any land there, 1 for each new claim made, and 1 for any old claim pre signing there is 5 new events in the dlc (6 if you count a secrete one that has sadly been delayed to a few days after release) and 2 new variants to the hurricane event first of the hurricane event just like mentioned in the v14 section of the post, will now start spreading a few select province type if it goes over one, both glacier and snow can be "picked up" by the hurricanes. first 2 events added is kinda boring but has a huge impact on the game first one is "dissolve antarctica treaty", it completely removes all negative score impacts from the treaty making any country with big claims on antarctica over powered. the 2nd one is "new Antarctic treaty" this event creates a new treaty with new randomized penalties and can give a huge nerf to any Antarctic nations the 3rd new event is "snow storm" it creates a big chunk of snow on the map with a low chance of the center being turned into glaciers, it also creates a cloud over it that will fade away within 7 seconds, the event can also only happen in the north and south of the map the 4th event is "melting glacier" this is the only way to get rid of glaciers and it turns all glaciers and snow within a small area instantly into floods the 5th and last event is "research base" this allows a country to turn any unclaimed or snow province in antarctica into a new claim, and unlike the colony event, this doesn't need to be a coastal province and lastly there is a "6th" secrete event that was and is still planned that i sadly didn't have time to finish before the release date and will work on adding into the DLC in a update a few days after release, it's a short super rare "story" of multiple events also as mentioned in the V14 section the DLC adds 3 volcanoes on the continent hope you will enjoy all the new content to the game both if you get the DLC or not <3
The 4 winners of V14 event vote are!! 1. Pandemic | 47 Votes | most likely chain event causing countries to collapse and lose scores | most likely delayed to V14.1 due to the time it will take to make and having a ser release date for V14 2. Fortification | Votes 44 | Makes the province have "2 lives" any event taking over the province will instead just destroy the fortified status but keep it claimed by the effected country. capitals will be prioritized over all, with cities, world wonders and nuclear sites being prioritized over empty provinces 3. AI/Machine Revolt | Votes 41 | a random country has gone too far with their ai research and the robots revolt creating their own country, random cities within the country will be given to them 4. Volcano Eruption | Votes 37 | Multiple real life volcanos will be added into the game, each with their own strength, they will erupt forming lava in a circle around it, lava will slowly be turned into wasteland but at the same time spread fire to any province nearby
As V14 Development keep progressing it's once again time for a event vote, this time you get to choose 4 events out of 14 options and the top 4 will be added to V14 hopefully next month unless something happens to delay it. I'm currently working on adding Antarctica as a new continent in a dlc that will also include events and more relating to Antarctica, it will come out later on along either v13.02 or V14 depending on how big the free update that will come with it is. As of now I got a lot planned and working on it but I do appreciate any suggestions that will make it as amazing as possible, if that's a new event, ideas on how to handle the UK, Argentina, Chile claim since i got no idea so far or whatever your mind comes up with! Right now the free update includes:

Due to the time it has taken to develop what was considered V12.03, it will be changed to be considered V13. The aim of V13 will be *Updating paintmode (making it less confusing and updating UI Design) *Reworking the score to give greater value to notible sites (Cities, Nuclear sites, World Wonders, Artificial islands) *Changing/Updating the controls in the game (Splitting , and . zoom speed and scroll zoom speed to make scroll faster and more!) *If time and able to adding some sound to the game! As always with major updates there is a Event vote with Wave 1 out of 2 + finally is already live! This time instead of only giving you 2 votes i'm testing out letting everyone rank each proposed event giving each one a score between 0 and 9. Also the heavily hinted god mode / control over events is atm planned for V13.01 Instead of Earlier said V12.04 due to these changes.
Haven't worked on ER for roughly a week now and I'm going to start working on V12.03.00, which will include all features i originally planned for V12.02.00 but needed to delay due to needed more time to plan it out, hardest one of those is updating PaintMode to the new UI Design, since i want to make it easier to use while also adding more editable stuff for more advanced players. so if there's any part of PaintMode you find confusing, want added or changed, please write in the comments of this post. so far the changes that might happen is, [olist]
- Fixed saves no longer saving down island and coast data wrongly Causing you not to be able to load in new saves, to see how to fix V12.02.00 - V12.02.02 Saves please look at the previous post
after searching for way too long i found the issue with the save files and sadly it means that if you want any saves from V12.02 to function, you need to manually go to the save file location and either remove the 4 text files for "Islands, NuclearSites, Coast, Capitals" and edit the internal version back to "v120000 "From "v120200" or Empty the Coast and Island text file (not remove the entire file, just leave it a empty text file) this is due to me accidentally making them save down the reference to the list of all province IDs instead of the individual IDs that those values effected. I don't own a linux so i sadly don't know the path to the save files for linux users, if any smart linux person knows please write a comment describing the path and i will update this to include the path ^^ for windows you want to write %appdata% in the file path, then you wanna go back one folder to the folder called just appdata then enter the folder called local low, then default company, then EarthRoyale. in earthroyale you will see 1-3 folders depending on the save types you've used, "Scenarios" "PaintMode" and "Saves", you will find all your saves there! (My mac is in Swedish so i will directly translate the button names to english, so it might be slightly differently named also in the path you write into the go to file, user should be in your computers language and username should be replaced by your profile name on the mac itself!) for Mac you want to enter finder, click go on the top bar, click go to file/folder write "/user/UserName/Library/Application Support/" from there you want to go to default company, earthroyale. in earthroyale you will see 1-3 folders depending on the save types you've used, "Scenarios" "PaintMode" and "Saves", you will find all your saves there! Sorry for this issue and i hope it hasn't been to much of a issue ^^ only save files from V12.02.00 should be effected by this since the game only started saving down coast and islands in V12.02 in preparation of a feature that will be Added in V12.03.00 a bug patch fixing the saving will be sent out soon! and i will do my best to help anyone that ask for it in the comments of this post or in the official discord server!

So as the V12 Event vote is over and the update is closing in i thought i'd do a big sneak peak thread of all major things in v12
First of the 3 biggest things that are not added yet, the 3 winners of the vote:
Singular Expand: A random country will be chosen, and it will expand into one of it's closest Neighbours, this will make normal expand more rare but most likely be more common that the normal expand is now
Change in government: The country renames itself and moves it capital to the biggest "entity" within it's border, could be culture, former country, sub division or even city if that somehow happens
Artificial Islands. A Country will Decide to make a new islands somewhere a long it's coast where it will be placed as far away from any nearby province as possible.
Then there will also be a big visual change, Texts.
it will be togglable as it might cause lag for some players.
How it will work is that each country will gain 1 text for each sub continent they are in, and the text will be placed in between the 2 furthest away provinces they control in that sub continent and rotated based on the differences between those 2 provinces y and x distances
there has been some changes to the sub continents to make the text more visually appealing, like changing England, Wales and Ireland to northern Europe from western Europe to stop the text there to merge with Gibraltar.
Then the Main theme/ new thing about the update, World Wars.
the world war will be considered a "chain event" meaning that when it starts, it will unlock 8 new events that can happen related to the world war, and once the world war ends those 8 won't be able to happen anymore.
As the world war starts it will divide the world into 2 or more alliances with randomized names based on what cities, regions or continents are within it.
While it doesn't in this image, it will say exactly what world war it is, and let you edit what the first world war number should be in paint mode.
it will also show all alliances in the leaderboard
The alliances also means that most older events have been updated to respect allied nations borders if there is a world war going on.

Join alliance: A neutral nation decided to join one of the alliances.
Leave Alliance: A nation left their alliance to become neutral.
Change Alliance: A nation left their alliance to join another alliance.
Joining Ultimatum: an alliance pressures 3 neutral nations near the alliance to join them or be invaded. each of the 3 nations have 2-3 outcomes, 1 they join, 2 they get invaded but keep some land, 3 they get invaded and gets completely annexed.
Moved front: The borders a long the front lines changes slightly based on how many enemy provinces surrounds it + a bit of luck
Missile strike: A alliance or country sends missile onto the enemy alliance, making some random provinces turn into wasteland
Alliance Expand: an alliance expands into the other alliances
And lastly, Peace treaty: the alliances decides to sign a peace treaty, either from there only being 1 left or due to wanting to end the war
There is also some other changes like randomized map, where all provinces, cities, cultures and countries gets randomly placed on the map, with all but cities having random sizes, shapes and positions.
There's also been a big change to how nukes work, now only countries who have a nuclear facility within it's borders got access to nuking other countries, the map starts out with a few within countries with nukes in real life (USA, UK, France, PRC, Russia, Israel, Pakistan, India, North Korea) But anyone can gain access to nukes by either taking over their provinces with nuclear facilities or making their own, and they can all disappears from having nuclear reactor failures happen there
Nukes now can also only happen within roughly 1 5th of the map from a nuclear facility.
There's been some smaller changes like how much you can zoom in and out, limits on annex event sizes.
lastly there are some events stuff that might maybe be delayed to another update or not, depending on how much time i got before the deadline of sometime early December:
God mode, let's you chose what event that should happen and what province / countries it should effect.
Take subdivision / culture: a country forcefully take over an entire culture or sub division within a neighbouring country
Worldwide & Local stats: pages where you can se how many times each country has won for you and worldwide, and also how many times different events have happened.
In game stats: a menu you can open to get specific stats in game for each country like how much coast they got, how many nuclear facilities they got and more!
Unfair Division: division event but doesn't create a equal split between countries

So, since this game now got players from all around the world (except Africa, where i sadly need the most help with this due to how hard i've had finding actual good reliable info on their cultures and how many cultures there can be in some areas of the continent and how a lot of the continent is just usually marked out as Arabic even though Arabic is more like a culture group and not one big culture) i thought i'd ask for help in giving me info about smaller local cultures that's not included in the game culture map or maybe areas where the border between 2 cultures aren't correct. You can use the culture map mode within the paint mode to see the entire culture map and any help with this is appreciated. on top of this, if you could tell me places where you think the game needs more cities added or any specific cities you feel like are missing that would also be appreciated ^^ aaand now that the game got like 1700 different sub divisions added, if you find any mistakes among them like if they are outdated or the name is slightly miss spelled or a border between them doesn't fully make sense please do that too ^^ but keep in mind that in some places i needed to merge 1 or more sub divisions due to the in game provinces not being small enough or not 100% following the actual sub divisions you can leave any info as a comment on this post, or you can join the games discord if it's more complicated info! thanks in advance ^^/liz

Before i show some of the new features and explain how much work is left, i wanna "Announce" the winners of the event vote for everyone that isn't in the discord and already know.
The winners was Partitioned and Culture Union, What they do will be described further down this post but i promise that they are amazing.
also the 8 losing events will re appear again in a new event vote together with some new ones for the next update when the development for it has started :3
Also if you got any suggestions or ideas for the game, you can leave it either in the steam community for it or in the games discord server, as i try to look at most things posted for the game to find bugs needing to be fixed or ideas i might not have thought about!
So first of is the main big feature of the update, that the name "the Scenario Update" comes from, a new and improved paint mode
first of, the new PaintMode is completely separated from the normal base game, this is to be able to get rid of some of the technical issues that the old paint mode had such as not having the map update live.
also, this paint mode has 2 new ways to paint.
First of those is the 9 different "Brush" Sizes, with the 1st one being the old 1 province at a time brush and the and 9th being a massive Europe ish sized area.
The 2nd way to paint is to paint an entire "Region", or an entire country, culture, city, sub division or whatever the map is currently showing. this will help if you wanna make for example Sweden-Norway, all you need to do is write in the name and then click both countries once. but if you do that you can also now make the game recognize it as an actual union that can split into 2 countries by filling in the "union member tags" for the country.
as you might have seen in the image it also comes with being able to do custom starting year and month and custom event odds and the possibility of changing what map mode you see the game in
as in you can change to only seeing cultures, or sub divisions, or the 3 easter egg values or union members or cities or the confusingly named country and controller, with controller being the existing country at the start of the game and country being the country that can gain independence as the game goes on.
also while i've not started work on it yet, the paint mode will hopefully come with steam workshop support on the updates launch. i've never set up workshop for a game before so i don't know how to set it up and it might lead to workshop coming a bit later than the main update or it being connected in a wonky way at first.
and due to all of this, the saves menu has been split into 3, one for save games, one for scenarios downloaded from the workshop and one for paint mode saves. with all 3 now supporting custom names and from what i know infinite save files, but i wouldn't recommend having millions of saves
And on the same lines as workshop, i also wanna try to add a few achievements for now, roughly one per event and rare event type. with plans to make one per easter egg nation and making their independence menu in the main menu need you to unlock their achievements. but that will be done later on
Next up is, drum roll please. new in game ui, that hopefully won't be confusing
This new ui keeps the auto camera button but moves it to the top left and shortening it to AC, it also adds a new Auto Play button, but space will still work for turning it on, on the top right you can see 2 new buttons, the top one opens up the pause menu where stuff like main menu, exit game and save game has been moved to. and under the pause button there is a leaderboard button.
in the top middle you can see that the event text box has been made bigger since due to the union names and split names, and events like referendum, the old event text box just didn't work and made a lot of events end up taking up 2-4 rows.
Also the time box has been moved to be in a 2nd row of the top bar in the middle, the ready/calculating text has been moved to the bottom middle and the rest of the bottom bar as been removed.
and now for the most fun part of the new game in my opinion, the 4 new events and the 4 new secrete events
first of we got the 2 new sub events within the border changes category
First one being Take islands
In this one country takes all or a few island provinces from the closest country with island. they do not need to take the entire island, they might just take a few provinces. right now all landmasses are considered island except the mainland for each continent with Australia being the mainland for oceania. BUT i'm considering removing the island status from some bigger islands such as Borneo, Greenland and Great Britain
And the next one is Take Coast
This one is the exact same as the previous one but this time with coastal provinces instead of island provinces, the game considers all provinces along a ocean (not lake or Caspian sea) as coastal
ok next up is the 2 Event vote winners that both ended up being sub events within the take over category.
culture unions have not been made or started work yet, but the way it will work is that it will force all countries that originates from within the area of a culture unions (for example "Germanic Union" or "Scandinavian union" or "Central American union" to be forced to join it, but i will most likely make the unions have more fun names such as the Kalmar Union. this does mean however that some easter eggs might be removed as there will now be a culture union with that name.
you will also be able to draw your own culture unions in paint mode or turn on all culture unions at starts similar to how cities and cultures is right now.
and lastly the big partition event
This one is really hard to explain, but what i aimed at with this one is to handle the country simIlar to what Austria Hungary experienced after ww1 and Germany after ww2.
so first of, if it's a union the union members will gain independence, but as small as possible with it still seeming fair (most of the time their culture size or their start of game size)
after that, it will look if any existing country got land within the country that belongs to them and gives it to them.
after that it will give up to 15 countries, cultures, cities or sub divisions independence from it.
and after that it will give up to 10 countries above 50 provinces 1 or more provinces within the country, with countries above 200 provinces being prioritized.
and lastly it will then divide all other provinces between the closest other countries, the newly independent countries and the big nations that gained small areas within it.
as you might have noticed, this event is clearly meant for big countries and not small ones. so it can only happen to countries with more than 150 provinces and will hopefully help with stopping some countries taking over half of the world with all other ones still being small.
I really hope your as exited for v11 as i am, right now it looks like the update will be released within 1-2 weeks of this post with the only things left to add being:
- workshop connection
- achievements menu, pictures for them and code for unlocking them
- culture unions + buttons for it in paint mode and main menu independence menu and save data for them
- Help menu to explain paint mode, the events and other things that might be needed to explain.

the base games include a bunch of customization to the start of the game, but the map without downloading scenarios is stuck to a modern day de facto map (each province in game is owned by who actually controls, with some exceptions to constantly changing stuff).
some of the ways you can customize the start of a game is by:
Disable or enable any continent that you want.
Make provinces, cultures or easter eggs independent at start.
Edit the %edges of any event happening or choose one of the pre made modes of it.
Each turn one of many things can happen:
division: a random country gets divided by giving each province to the closest other country.
Annexation: A random country gets given to one of their bordering countries, or if it only got coastal borders, the closest country.
Shrink/Expand: A random country either takes over a few of the closest provinces to it or gives away up to 75 % of the countries provinces to each province closest other country.
Colonization: A random country with coast takes over a random coastal province from another country but if there is any coastal provinces that are unclaimed, the game will prioritize it over all claimed coastal provinces.
Independence: Each easter egg, province, culture, or previous country tag of any province within a random country has a chance of having all provinces with that tag within the country gain independence.
Nuke: A random province is selected and all provinces around it within 3 different sized circles will be turned into Wasteland, Unclaimed, Fire. in that order from smallest to biggest circle.
Collapse: All provinces within a random country will be turned into unclaimed, but there's a chance that multiple province, culture or previous country tags within the country gain independence
Union: 2 countries will join together into a new country named "country1 - country2", a union can form a union with another union or normal country.
Split: a country will either split into north and south country or west and east country, or if it's a union, it will make all member states independence as they where when joining the union and all provinces that wasn't a part of a member state will be divided between the former member states based on who is closest
Flood: A random province will be turned into flooded or water, it will also make 1 to 2 closest provinces do the same over and over again for up to 15 provinces.
Fire: a random province will have a fire start in it.
There is also multiple types of provinces.
Normal/Claimed: a province that is owned by a country. it will have the country it belongs to's colour which is a random colour generated when the country was made by the game. it's also the only type of province effected by the events.
UnClaimed: a province that is not owned by any country, it's a light brown colour and if one of the 3 closest provinces is claimed it will have a chance to be claimed by that country each turn.
Wasteland: a province that is not owned by any country and is not claimable, it's a darker brown colour and if it's generated by the game and not made by the map editor, it will turn into unclaimed after a few turns
Flooded: A province that is created by the flood event. it is coloured the same as the ocean, a darker blue and it will each turn loose it's flood level, the further away from where the flood started the lower flood level it starts with, when it hits 0 it will turn into unclaimed.
Fire: A province that is created by the fire event. it is coloured a orange colour and each turn moves to another province and lose some strength, or splits into 2 provinces with only half it's strength. when the strength hits 0, it will die of, each province the fire leaves will be turned into unclaimed.
None: A province that just doesn't exist, it's created if you disable a continent before starting a game.
