We here at Thorium have been in stealth mode development for 3 years, but were finally ready to reveal our next project its UnderMine 2! [previewyoutube=4-7OAiV8QTE;full][/previewyoutube] https://store.steampowered.com/app/1869780/UnderMine2/ UnderMine 2 builds on what made UnderMine great, but makes some significant changes and adds a lot of requested features, such as:
- 2 Player Local Co-op (online via Steam Remote Play) Play through the entirety of the game with a friend by your side. UnderMine 2 supports drop in and out co-op with dynamically scaling difficulty. See what new item combos and strategic options open up with two players.
- Playable Character Classes Discover, unlock, and play as different characters including some favorites from UnderMine. Each playable character has unique stats, abilities, upgrades, and relics they can find. Each character significantly alters the feel of the game.
- Branching Paths New regions of the Undermine have been revealed, and each branches off into various other areas. Navigate it to complete builds, quests, and different objectives. Your final challenge depends entirely on your decisions throughout the run.
- Arcana Wield new, interactive relics called Arcana. Each adds a new ability to your character, from casting fireballs to summoning skeleton minions to rearranging time and space. Arcana can make an old character feel new by centering entire builds around their function.
- Full Mod and Workshop Support Were shipping you the tools we use to make the game and making it as easy as possible to upload and download mods from Steam Workshop. We feel weve created a really great technical platform and are excited to share that with you.
- And a lot more! More characters, more zones, more items, and more action all around!

Hello peasants! It's been a minute. I know it looks like we haven't done much in a while, but we've been working hard on all sorts of things. We got the Switch and PlayStation versions out. We have an upcoming physical release that will be announced later, new merch is on its way, and of course: UnderMine 1.2! UnderMine 1.2 WHIP will release on August 6th, which happens to be UnderMine's one year anniversary! If you're familiar with our updates you know that we do an official preview that calls out some highlights of the update. You can read that here: https://undermine.game/undermine-120-whip-update We'd like to give a special shout out to our Discord community for their help testing and balancing this update. We really appreciate the dedication everyone has shown to UnderMine and the WHIP game mode.
UnderMine Turns 1
Our goal was to try and coordinate a major update for the first year anniversary, but we also wanted to do a few other things. UnderMine will be on sale for 50% off on all platforms. Unfortunately we couldn't time all the sales to be the same but here is the run down:
- Steam: Aug 7th - Aug 14th as part of the Yogscast Tiny Teams event
- Humble: Aug 7th - Aug 14th
- Switch: Aug 7th - Aug 13th
- Xbox: Aug 10th - Aug 16th
- PlayStation: TBD (We're still working with Sony)
New merch is in development with Dual Wield Studio and should be available soon. And if you can't wait we still have pilfers available. We're also working with the community to put together a streaming event. More information on that soon! If you would like to keep up with any of these things the best way to do so is following us on Twitter. Full patch notes will be available on the 6th along with the update. Until then, stay gold peasants! - Thorium
[previewyoutube=nMHTaSaNHV0;full][/previewyoutube] We've been working incredibly hard over the last few months preparing UnderMine for the Nintendo Switch, and today it finally comes out! We made painstaking effort to make sure it runs perfectly. UnderMine on the Switch runs at a smooooth 60FPS both docked and undocked. Now you can play in bed, on the bus, or in the bath! Live your best life. Peep it on the Nintendo eShop at the link below. https://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/undermine-switch/
Lunar New Year Sale

Features:
The Contested Bog
A gate can now be found at the edge of the Shimmering Caverns. It is guarded by two familiar creatures, but they will only allow access when certain conditions are met. Beware! Even if you discover the conditions for entry, a huge challenge awaits. The Contested Bog is home to UnderMines most dangerous creatures.
Plunder King
Deep in the Contested Bog, the Plunder King hoards a pile of treasure in his trove. He has become corrupted by his greed, and the corruption spreads throughout the area. Defeat the Plunder King and claim his crown as your own.
Tus, Wandering Minstrel
Tus is a wandering bard that spreads mello vibes wherever he goes. Tip Tus some gold for his efforts. If he deems your tip generous enough you may receive a reward.
Seed Input
You can now check your randomizer seed from the main menu in the Hub. Youll also be able to generate a new seed, or input one of your own. You can now play the same randomized dungeon layouts as other players using this menu. This feature can be used for Othermine as well by entering a seed after donning the crown, before entering the portal.
Boss Tracker
Once a summoning stone has been lifted, a boss tracker will appear on the pause menu. This tracker will show the status of each boss.
Poison as an Official Element
Poison has been added as an official element. Now items that interact with elemental damage will also interact with poison. For example, Gordons Tunic will reduce poison damage. Certain things will cover the ground in poison. If food touches this it will become poisoned itself, with adverse effects!
Blighted Barb
Poisoned rocks will appear in the UnderMine. Destroying these rocks will give the peasant a temporary poison buff similar to Crippling Poison.
Momentary Peril
You may find a mysterious orb in a start room. Interacting with this orb will give you a temporary curse called Momentary Peril. It sets your health to 1, and gives you a certain number of rooms to clear. If you can clear the rooms the curse will be removed and youll be rewarded for your efforts.
Other Secrets
Many other secrets await in the Royals update, but we didnt want to spoil them. Search every corner of the game to find them.

UnderMine had an incredible launch out of early access and we owe it all to you.
We hope you've enjoyed your time with the game and look forward to continued support. In the mean time, if you want to smash that nominate button, that'd be pretty cash money of you.

After five long years we have finally "completed" development of UnderMine. It has been a dream come true to work on our own game, unrestrained and creatively free. We want to thank the UnderMine community, especially those that took a chance on the game during early access. You all helped us reach this point and UnderMine has become so much bigger than we imagined. Completed is in quotations because although we consider this a complete product that doesn't mean we're done updating it. We have a lot in store for the future, but until then please enjoy these update notes.
- Thorium
The Gate is Active and the Final Encounter is Nigh
- Upon collecting all 5 boss fragments, the ancient and mysterious gate can be opened. Cross onto the other side and find what awaits.
New Final Room
- Every peasant deserves some peace and time to contemplate after a run. Therefore, the room that houses Deaths Head (now Deaths Hand) has been transformed. Relax and soak in the tranquil ruins, gently lapped by the ripples of the fountains pooling water.
The Crone Valeen and Hexes
- Serious players require even more serious challenges. Now, after completing their first run, the player will unlock Valeen, the Crone. Valeen then joins the hub and the Othermine antechamber. The player can ask Valeen to hex them, which will apply powerful debuffs that can not be removed during a run. Hexes seriously alter a run and can be stacked on top of each other for additional challenge.
Journal Improvements
Added Artifacts Artifacts, such as special keys, boss fragments, Baba's mushrooms, and the Dusty Book now have their own tab in the journal. Each has a lore entry, and some contain hints as to what their use is. Improved Player Stats Mousing over, or focusing (with controller) the peasants combat stats will reveal a detailed breakdown of buffs and modifiers that contribute to the final statistic. Lifetime Stats Another tab has been added to the journal that tracks lifetime statistics. Were looking to expand this so let us know if you have any suggestions.
Fully Expanded Map
The minimap now reveals the entire floor when expanded. It will scale in size to accommodate the size and shape of the floor.
Hoodies Care Package
Peasants will now be given a care package when fast traveling with Hoodie. It contains relics for your journey. The number of relics are proportional to how far you traveled, but are less numerous than if you made the trek the old fashioned way.
Steam Trading Cards
- Trading cards will now appear in your Steam inventory as you play UnderMine. Trade them with other players, collecting full sets to unlock new badges, profile backgrounds, and emotes to be used across Steam.
Soundtrack Now Available
- UnderMines OST, composed by the talented Wesley Slover, is now available for purchase. You can pick up your copy for $4.99 USD. It includes 30 tracks and beautiful album artwork.
Achievement Changes
- We have changed the conditions by which players can earn the 5 No Upgrades boss achievements. Now, you simply need to defeat the 5 major bosses while using the Rogues Ultimatum hex, which is functionally the same as having no upgrades. This is to alleviate a lot of confusion around what constitutes an upgrade and to avoid the necessity to start a new save file. Please note: If you had previously earned these achievements under the old rules, you will still have them and do not need to earn them again.

Buckle up because this is going to be a long post. We have so much to share. The development of UnderMine has been a hard and exhausting process. Everyone on the team has put every last ounce of themselves into it. Many people comment on how polished the game is, but in reality we come in hot on every single update. Were usually fixing bugs up until an hour before releasing an update. Thats because were so passionate about delivering as much as possible. We dont want to leave any good ideas on the table, so we push hard, and try to deliver as much content as we can while still hitting our own bar of quality and polish. 1.0 is no exception.
Thank you to the community

Well be sharing more info leading up to release. You won't want to miss it so keep your eyes peeled. - Thorium

Features
The Golden Core and Seer, World's Heart
Brave the deepest part of the Undermine, cross rivers of molten gold, avoid dangerous traps, and defeat new enemies for a chance to challenge the fire lord Seer.
8 new enemies:
Crossbowman - An armored guard of the Delvemore dungeon. Crossbowmen have steady aim and will attack from a distance. If you get too close to them they will dash away and unleash a devastating triple shot. Shaman and Manikin - Shamen animate small dolls, twisting their essence in the process. These dolls are called Manikins. They dart in and out of reality, encircling the peasant and creating geometric death traps. Rift Wurm - These wurms mindlessly roam the corridors of the Golden Core. They only know to move forwards and devour anything in their path. Approach them with caution and annihilate them entirely, lest they grow back a new head and continue their feast. Soms Golem - Som originally created these mindless automatons to aid him in his research and care for his keep. He is now long dead, but his creations live on. They are quite stupid and rather curious. Keep a wide berth or they will wander over and inadvertently injure you with their many spikes. Bass Fly - Similar to other flies of the Undermine but far deadlier. The projectile from the bass fly will ricochet off walls and other surfaces. Gremlin - Dangerous, winged creatures that defend the Golden Core and other areas of the Undermine. They wield long pole arms and can close distance quickly with their dash attacks. Ogre Firestarter - Another dangerous, bomb-wielding ogre. This time an ogre that slings Seers Blood bombs, spilling fire everywhere. Firebat - Similar to shrill bats, except that they drip fire wherever they go always

Features
Othermine
Welcome to the Othermine! UnderMines brand new rogue mode. Othermine is unlocked when the player completes the 4 main zones and enters Nowhere at the end of their run. Once unlocked, you can speak with The Gatekeeper in what we are now calling the terminal. The terminal is a room that sits to the north of the main lobby. Giving The Gatekeeper a Nether will open the Othermine. The peasant takes nothing into or out of the Othermine except for Thorium and Nether. So each Othermine run starts the peasant at zero upgrades (with a couple of exceptions like Glasses) and zero gold. Once you enter, you will be dropped into the Antechamber where you will receive some random upgrades, and will need to choose a Relic, Blessing, Familiar, and Curse. Then youre off!
Nether
Nether is a new currency found in the UnderMine. Primarily you can earn it by crafting items once you have unlocked The Gatekeeper. You will also earn a Nether by completing an Othermine run. Once nearly all items have been crafted, you can discover a Nether recipe which will allow The Gatekeeper to craft it for Thorium.
The Othermine Crown
When a peasant enters the Othermine they don the Othermine crown. The crown can be upgraded in appearance by completing Othermine runs. However, if the peasant ever dies inside the Othermine, their crown will be lost and revert back to its default state. Win streaks will be tracked on the save file. Its important to note that a streak and crown can only be lost inside the Othermine. Dying in the UnderMine wont count.
Magic Mirror
There is a new magic mirror that appears in Arkanos library, shortly after the beginning of the game. This mirror will randomize your appearance and name.
Explorers Boots
Getting around the UnderMine can sometimes be tedious, especially when hunting for secrets. You can now buy an upgrade from Hoodie called the Explorers Boots. These boots will give the peasant a 40% out-of-combat movement speed boost. They automatically become disabled when taking damage, entering combat, or jumping. They can also be manually toggled off with a rebindable key.

Features
Minimap Overhaul!
- Can now be toggled from normal size to large. The default keys for this are [c] on a keyboard and [up] on the D-pad of a controller. This key is rebindable in the options menu.
- New icons to denote the Relic Room, Beginning Room, and Boss Entrances
- Altars will now indicate if they have been used
- Items such as food, keys, bombs, potions, talismans, armor shards, relics, chests, blessings, and altars will be shown on the map.
- Four of the most important items per room will be shown in large mode, while a single item will be shown in normal mode.
- Players can also toggle the transparency of the minimap in the options menu. When transparent, the background of the map will be removed.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed a crash related to Tsar Bomba and ownerless entities
- Fixed the description of Powder Shortage to now accurately reflect its new behavior (of increasing the cost to drop a bomb to 2 bombs)
Balance Changes
- The secret altar room now requires only 1 major curse to enter
- Breastplate is now a common relic
- Reduced the shop cost of Breastplate
- Reduced the crafting cost of Breastplate
- Rare Chests (blue) now have a 100% chance to drop a blueprint, egg, tome, or recipe
Other Changes
- Breastplate has been reworked to now grant a point of armor. Armor acts as temporary HP for the purposes of combat damage and can be refilled by picking up an Armor Shard (which can drop once you have Breastplate). Armor will not block loss-of-life effects like Penance or TRANSMUT3 machines
- The shop Relic pool now falls back to the default Relic pool once exhausted
- The Relic and Shop RNG pools will now more reliably produce the same results if the current floor is reloaded

- Items should no longer land in inaccessible areas
- Cursed relic pedestals now correctly display their cost again
- Fixed an issue where Dibble referred to the female peasant with sir, rather than madam.
- Fixed an issue where Black Rabbit referred to the female peasant with bristly one. Unfortunately there was no translation for this line and it will appear in English until our next localization round.
Balance Changes
- Blood Offering now requires slightly less health for items
- Ogre Bombardiers, Troll Bombardiers, and Ogre Annihilators are now immune to their own bomb blasts, while reducing other explosive damage by 50% (rather than being immune to explosive damage)
Other Changes
- Electrified Orb is now a bit smaller visually (no change to collider)
- Battle Standard has had its audio removed
- Boss relics can now be found like normal relics after the boss is defeated. They still drop from the boss on the first kill, and they should also be discoverable in the boss arena when the boss is currently dead.
- Powder Shortage has been changed: It no longer lowers bomb damage. Instead it makes laying a bomb cost 2 bombs instead of 1 (The item description will appear in English until our next localization round)

The Collector and Familiars
Griswold, the Collector can now be unlocked. You must first find a dusty tome in the UnderMine and bring it to Arkanos Library. There you can unlock the bookcase behind the Archmage and discover Griswold. Griswold can hatch hatchlings for the peasant. Hatchlings are schematics and the equivalent of blueprints and recipes. They are also unlocked using Thorium. Hatchlings are found in all the same places as other schematics, but can only be found once Griswold has been unlocked. Familiars: Familiars are creatures that follow the peasant and perform actions for them. For example, the Canary is a familiar and its level 1 ability is collecting gold for the peasant. Each familiar has 3 levels, and they increase those levels by performing actions, and traveling deeper into the UnderMine. When the peasant dies, and a run is over, the familiar returns to level 1. Each time a familiar levels up, it gains a new ability. For example, when the Canary levels up to level 2, it increases gold income for the peasant in addition to also picking up gold. Each familiar has a theme, and supports a different kind of build and playstyle. The Familiars:
- Canary - The canary helps the peasant pick up gold and works well with resource strategies
- Firebird - The Firebird fires large fireballs at enemies and helps support fire based builds
- Thunderbird - The Thunderbird fires lighting at enemies and helps support lightning based builds
- Sylph - The Sylph allows the peasant to pray more often and with reduced cost, supporting blessing based builds
- Spirit - The Spirit lets the peasant carry more potions and helps with potion based builds
- Nikko - Nikko, the flying monkey, pounds enemies in melee, and helps the peasant critical strike more often
- Sols Phoenix - The Phoenix is a defensive familiar and will heal the peasant when they take damage
- Djinn - The Djinn is crafty and will uncover secrets for the peasant

Blessing and Curse changes
An explanation on blessing and curse changes: Blessings have been unified to increase the base stats of the peasant by the same amount as an upgrade purchased by Wayland or Dodson. Minor curses are the same, only they reduce your base stats by the same amount a blessing would increase them. Now, for example, if you have a blessing of Strength you gain 4 damage to your swing, but if you have the Minor Weakness curse you lose 4 damage. They cancel each other out in this way. Any blessing now cancels out its minor curse equivalent. Major curses are now the equivalent of 2 of their minor counterparts. Overall this makes a lot of the major curses much weaker than before. In general, blessings are marginally more powerful and curses are much weaker.

- Toughness now increases health by 15% of your base health
- Balance now increases base throw damage by 3
- Strength now increases base swing damage by 4
- Craftsmanship now increases gold retention by 5%

- Fortitude now lowers damage taken by 10%
- Heartiness now increases healing by 10%
- Wealth now increases base gold value by 10%
- Savagery now increases base crit chance by 5%
Modifier Changes
Additive multipliers are now added as base stats Multiplicative multipliers are multiplied against the base stats and then added (What this means is that when you get a curse like Minor Frailty (which now reduces your health by 15%) it will be perfectly canceled out by Toughness which increases your health by 15%)

Hey Everyone!
Big week! Seriously though, we are blown away with the reception to UnderMine. Derek and I spent late nights talking through our thoughts on how the game would be received. Our biggest worry was that we would release the game and no one would care. Well... we can lay that worry to rest, because it seems like a lot of people care, which is incredible.
We are very excited for the future of UnderMine and we look forward to working along side you to turn it into something very special. And with that said, here is another update!

Hey everyone!
We are proud to announce that UnderMine has officially launched into Early Access and we are incredibly excited to finally share our baby with the world.

Hey Everyone!
Wanted to discuss localization with you all since we get a lot of questions about it. UnderMine is developed in English, but we want it to be available in as many languages as possible.
Our first two languages, other than English, will be German and Brazilian Portuguese. These will be available at the launch of Early Access. There was a lot of interest from both Germany and Brazil so it made sense to go with them first. But also, we wanted to test our localization pipeline with only a couple of new languages, and work out any kinks.
Our intention is to roll out to many more languages as we are able to. Well keep you up to date when we know more about a particular language.
Also, since we get this question a lot: We do not need help translating the game from independent sources. It is much easier for us to work with one partner. We do however welcome critique of current translations. Providing us feedback helps a lot since we at Thorium are one language North Americans (also very jealous of all you bi-linguals out there. I should have paid more attention in French class.)
Hey everyone! Its a very exciting day. We are finally announcing the official Early Access date for UnderMine and it is.
August 20th, 2019
Thats right! Just over one month away. Were very excited to see everyone play UnderMine, and are very eager to receive your feedback. If you want to know more about how Early Access will go down, we have a long write-up on the store page. TLDR, we want to work closely with the community to make the game amazing.
If you are a content creator and would like a review key please fill out this form on our website: https://undermine.game/#contact Make sure to include your channel and email address.
UnderMine will be available for PC, Mac, and Linux. If you want to stay up to date on development the best ways are to follow us on Twitter, and/or jump into our Discord.
See you all in August!
Clint and Derek of Thorium
UnderMine and Thorium are heading down to LA for E3 2019 June 11th to 13th. There are going to be some opportunities to see new UnderMine footage, but we aren't allowed to talk about them yet. If you want to be the first to know what we have cooked up, make sure to follow us on Twitter.
Yo! We've updated UnderMine's minimum and recommended system specs for PC, Mac, and Linux and it is good news! The specs are all much lower than we initially estimated and the game runs really well on even modest hardware. So if you're running on a potato we got you covered fam. Derek has put in a ton of effort to make sure performance is great on all 3 operating systems. So, no matter what you decide to play UnderMine on, you're going to have an excellent experience. Clint Thorium
Hey all,
We've updated the store page with our Early Access information. We're zeroing in on a release date, but are not quite ready to commit to an exact day. For now we have improved to "summer of this year" and we'll leave it at that for a bit.
We wrote up a pretty lengthy description of what to expect from Early Access. We plan to heavily involve the community because we think that will make UnderMine the best it can be. We also really love to develop along side an active community that is giving feedback and suggestions.
If you have any questions about what we wrote, or about the game in general the best way to contact us is here on the Steam discussion board, or in our Discord. You can also stay pretty up to date by following us on Twitter.
We're super excited that the big day is coming up! Can't wait to get this beast out there for everyone to play.

UnderMine Linux [847.89 M]
Action-Adventure. Rogue-like. RPG.
How many genres can one game belong to? We would have prefered all of them, but you’ll just have to settle for most of them. UnderMine stirs a delicious pot of genre soup, taking only the highest quality ingredients from each. We took the procedurally generated madness of the craziest rogue-likes (Binding of Isaac, Dead Cells, etc.), combined that with the exploration and discovery of classic action-adventures (The Legend of Zelda, Hyper Light Drifter, etc.), and topped it off with some light RPG progression and story (Rogue Legacy.)Features:
Dungeon Crawling: Forge that perfect run where you find all the right items, all the right secrets, and get all the right rolls to become a peasant god of destruction.Discovery and Exploration: Bomb walls, blow up rocks, light torches, and discover secret passages, hidden characters, loot, upgrades, and more.
Character Progression: The peasants keep dying, but your upgrades pass on. Unlock new abilities that will help in combat and open up new areas to explore.
Bosses That Don’t Mess Around: Challenge enormous bosses that take a combination of upgrades and skill to take down.
Darkly Lighthearted
Experience the plight of the poor peasant sent into the goldmine. His job is to labor away for a boss that doesn’t care about him, in an environment that is openly hostile, and amongst creatures that want to tear his flesh off his bones. A pretty funny situation when you think about it.- OS: Ubuntu 12.04
