THE SUPER SOUNDTRACK HAS BEEN RELEASED
What is better than a soundtrack? A SUPER SOUNDTRACK!
A super soundtrack includes all .flp files used for TCC which are files that includes all instruments, melodies and effects in songs, you can change them to your hearts content, make remixes or alternate versions of the songs, or make up your own! This super soundtrack also contains a playlist that has most of the songs in a uncompressed .wav format compared to the official soundtrack which only has .mp3 files. This playlist will keep updating when the base game also receives brand new songs! You can run those files in FL Studio (you can do that completely for free using the free trial and it will work). The Game is NOW Open Sourced!
No this is not an late april fools joke, this game is now open source. I have been working on The Colorful Creature on and off by myself for the past 6 years or so. This game is like a child to me and having the game handed out to people to see and improve it further sounds exciting. I decided to open source the game as a thanks, and I want to continue to further support the game by giving the community a chance to contribute and improve the game. For low attention span people, here's the official public repository! View all of it's secrets! There's also documentation on how to contribute. For people who want to report bugs or request features for me or other developers to look at, check the issues tab
What does this mean?
'Open sourcing' any software/game means that the developer(s) are handing out source code entirely for free. It usually requires a license, there's many to choose from but I've chosen Apache 2.0, it means that you can contribute, modify, distribute, or even sell your own version of TCC. It's a legal procedure if I wanted to make the game available to people but I wanted to go on full lengths.
Why did you do this?
For the longest time, I was working on the game by myself, which isn't an issue, but some things took too long to add because of the systems I've implemented that I want to code-refactor, but that takes even longer! Considering that the game got a full release, I decided to release the game then because I got all of things added that I wanted, but all of these things can be improved in some way. With me working on other projects, it's difficult to balance TCC and have time for it, I can work on the game but I don't have as much time especially with college and bigger projects planned. So I decided to give the community a chance, with me working on the documentation and help resolve issues with contributors. I'll be always with the community to help solve issues but now the community can solve the game for me! We can sort the game out together!
Is the game going to be free on steam?
No, the game won't be free on steam, it's just the source code that is becoming free. But you can take the source code and compile the game yourself for free even if you don't own TCC yourself. There's examples of games that did this, like Cataclysm: Dark Days Ahead where it's sold on steam for 20 euros, but it is free on github.
How can I help
If you don't know how to develop games, or use GameMaker, you don't have to! Head over to the issues tab where you can request bugs and features. However, if you have any experience with GameMaker, or want to add/fix something, read the contributing.md file and follow instructions. The issues with "good first issue" are easy to add/fix and can get you on the right track. Keep in mind that the documentation for contributing is work in progress, many things could change to improve workflow of the game, but it will get easier with time.
What is next?
From now on, you can see all plans publicly on github for each major release. I'll keep adding features but now with the community as well. If you need any help regarding to development of the game, join this discord server. Thank you so much for your support!

WELCOME TO THE COLORFUL CREATURE 3D!
For the past few months, I was learning a brand new game engine Godot. I've always wanted to create a 3D game ever since I started developing games, but never knew the skills of how to do so. With Godot, I am able to achieve such a dream! So I decided to release a tech demo of TCC 3D! If your attention span is low, here's how you can access the tech demo
What do you do in TCC 3D?
In TCC 3D, you take care of Reddie pets. Having more pets makes your kingdom profitable. You might be asking yourself many questions, which I'll get to answer in a moment. Q: Infi, isn't Reddie touching grass? Isn't grass a green color? A: Yes, grass is green Q: How do you take care of pets? A: You play ball! Here, let me show you!
This is an image of Reddie being held by the player character Q: Who is the player character? What's his name? A: Well... um Q: Is there more A: Yes, we added alcoholism!
Q: WHAT? Isn't this supposed to be a family friendly game? A: Yes, this is a family friendly game Q: What?
Alright hope that answered your questions! Please give me feedback in the main menu by clicking "Give Feedback" Thank you!

"MOD" SUPPORT
There's no actual mod support in TCC, however I've opened a private github where people can submit a form and modify the game themselves, but I am thinking to do more things with this.
Having access to the github repo means you have access to the entire game's source code, so I'll have to put licenses and rules around to prevent any misbehavior and misuse. But here's the jist of things: 1. You have to OWN TCC on Steam 2. You cannot re-sell the game or post it online for free 3. You can only use this repo to help development or make mods Sign here if you are interested: https://forms.gle/453GD82sW2PJ6vp5A The modding is probably going to work by adding new branches for TCC, while the development continues on official TCC branches, I'm still working on this update and the Readme for more explanation on how to open and compile the game I'm hoping to improve the game contribution for TCC, so I'll be adding additional support for mods as well as improving existing code so people could add things in the game easier. It is also possible that the modding branch will be obsolete from this point
CONTROLLER ICONS
I added controller icons for Xbox, Playstation, Nintendo Switch so you can know what to press when using a controller. Xbox is the primary choice for playing this game but it will still work with other controllers.
Icons in game will also appear in narrator text, as well as in tutorial sections and menus. Controller icons are made by Kenney and is credited in credits
IMPROVED CODE
While it's not fully improved, from now on I plan to improve the entire game's codebase, starting with the customization menu. 1500 lines were removed and 200 new lines were added because of this improvement. I don't want to give other people stress when trying to add new things to the game.
CODE THAT IS IMPROVED
- SAVING/LOADING

All code regarding if the skin/hat/item is locked or unlocked and page switching is now totally managed by one function with 25 lines long, instead of the entire process having 1500 lines.

Welcome to Release 1.1.0! It's focus is on progression and changes to all steam achievements!
Overhauled Achievements
For a while, I was thinking to update the achievements and add brand new ones. Now, steam doesn't let me add more than 100 achievements to my game. This happens to any game with "Profile Features Limited" on the side of the store page. The plan is to remove steam achievements that have "Do X amount of things", for example, "Die 10000 times" but instead add something fun like "Beat a week in Calendar" or something, while at the same time, keeping the older achievements still in-game. It's more of a replacement if that makes sense. I was also thinking to remove super hard steam achievements like Kaizo and World 7 to encourage players to "100% complete" the game, while at the same time keeping those achievements in-game
So, what does 100% means for the game now?
There is going to be two kinds of 100%s. Steam related and the real 100% completion. To satisfy speedrunners going for 100%, I'd suggest trying out the steam 100%, because after this update it's likely that the achievements by then won't be changed. As for others who are willing to 100% the game, it would be a very challenging task indeed, but if you pulled it off, hats off to you!
Other things added
- World 7 is nerfed even more
- Other levels will get some minor changes (some levels will be updated to avoid confusion)
- Monthly Endless Run will reset and it will be renamed to 'Seasonal Endless Run', I can't bother to manually reset leaderboards every month lol
- Speaking of Endless Run, brand new levels will be added
- Code will be further improved in some parts of the game
- You will be able to do more things on controller, for example, more menu navigation and changing settings AND SKIPPING LEVELS ON A CONTROLLER
- Added more options in settings like enabling/disabling vibration for the controller
- I'll try to see if I can gather people to contribute to the game's development, as I've opened a google form in the support section
- Added more translations to existing languages
- Further improvements to the game to avoid confusion
Final Update of 2023!
I was going to leave this for Release 1.1 but I guess I'll push this early
ADDED - Controller Support for Local Multiplayer, making multiplayer have 5 different control schemes.
This is kinda like giving a corpse some makeup, but some people asked for it, so why not.
Some things might break so, invite your cousin or something to play this abomination of a gamemode, or don't.
Happy New Year everyone!
- Fixing skipping levels not progressing the Level Select menu
- Clicking the Asteroids ++ button in the Main Menu will now redirect players to the Steam Page of the game
- Level select now updates for each level completed instead of each world completed - World 7 slightly nerfed in some parts
Merry Christmas everyone

- ADDED - Two new cheats
- CHEAT - Visible Things - You are now able to see EVERYTHING. Fog is gone, Spikes are visible, Blocks are visible, invisible triggers, even your damn invisible skin is now visible! I know everyone wanted to see behind the scenes!

- REMOVED - Wiki button
- ADDED - Development Contribution in Support Section
- Updated Game Engine to GM2023.11, bringing further improvements like faster texture/level loading
- Changed how the game saves data in a better way
- Added a github page for TCC inside the support page, it's not visible on Android and Demo versions (Repository is private, people can sign up to help with the development of the game)
- Interact on controller is now on the right trigger - You can now look through different leaderboards with a controller - The narrator text now tells you exactly in game what buttons you have to press to shoot, interact etc.
- Fixed issue where interacting with spirals when on controller wouldn't work - Fixed controller rumble issues.
- Fixed issue where on some controllers jumping and interacting wouldn't work
TCC Update 1.0.4
Added actual full controller support for Xbox! (Semi-support for other controllers)
- You can now play TCC from start to finish with just a controller, including challenges, including endless run and including workshop content.
- You can navigate through menus using a controller, including scrolling
- Various actions that the player makes vibrates the controller, for example, picking up items or facing death
- You can customize the controller scheme in the steam input settings
UPCOMING IN RELEASE 1.1 RELATED TO CONTROLLERS
- Level Editor support through controller (keyboard pops up for typing) and other minor things.
- Controller icons are coming in TCC! So I can make things more obvious I guess.
- PS4/5 colors change depending on what color Reddie is!
- PS4/5, Nintendo Switch controller support is unknown, so some stuff might not work properly on them!
Before you continue, you should read this news post, so you can gather more insight. This news post is just patch notes for TCC 1.0! It's not perfect, but all is explained there! Anyways, enjoy!

Thank you!
Hello, Infiland here, the main dev. Thank you so much for playing The Colorful Creature for the past... 5 years at this point. 5 Years! Wow, that's a pretty long time. I was working on this game by myself for the most part, it wasn't a full-time commitment, but it's a project I am very proud of, because it is my very commercial/serious project I worked on. On my behalf, I wanna thank everyone who has contributed to the game, some of the things like art in credits or workshop support would be impossible without you.
Now here's some things I do wanna say:
I wanted this game to be more, but I realized overtime that what I have added is pretty much complete. I added everything that I wanted, yet I still keep adding before the so called "full release". Because all I was really doing over the past couple of months was just change a couple of levels, add some quality of life changes to the level editor, but everything is already in the game, and it's just kinda rework on the existing systems while I'm not really adding anything "new" to the table. Don't get me wrong, I did add new stuff to the game, for example, the restart challenge button is a good feature for speedrunners, but it can be seen as features that are like "Post-Game Release". Everytime I do something to the game, it just feels... finished to me, but I have no idea what others think of the updates. So I have decided to stop endless release date pushing. On 28th August of 2023, the game will be released as a full game. However there's a couple things to mention:
- Local Files has been renamed to TheColorfulCreature instead of The_Colorful_Creature, this WILL reset your progress! However if you want to keep your original progress, when the 1.0 update drops, make sure to just drag the The_Colorful_Creature files over to the new folder. For android users, progress is reset regardless. The reason why I did this is because when I compile to Native Linux, the compiling fails with the old name.
- I'm fixing Local Multiplayer a bit to be more playable for the final release, every time I add something new to the player the multiplayer version just crashes. So I'll make sure IT NEVER DOES AGAIN!
- From this point I'm adding new levels, quality of life improvements, it is indeed unfortunate that I haven't added anything big inside the game but if there's no new players trying out new things so why bother. I feel like adding additional things will just add in the repetitive factor of the game.
- Going to REALLY nerf World 7, for 2 years nobody has beaten it other than me and dha, so I'll do that.
- The fate of events, custom skins and items is unknown
- Will fix that stupid bug where dying on android will play an ad every time
- I'd like people to help me translate the game in as many languages as possible, there isn't the time when it has to be done, but if you wanna help me with that go over to https://discord.gg/mKeVMtZgfa
- Please let me know what you want added/fixed before the full release
Asteroids ++
I am working hard on a brand new commercial game called Asteroids ++, and to get your attention to spread this wonderful game, I'm giving away 3 keys for free. ELR02-T4CLE-C5APD 4ZW7N-GEEM7-3NYYE 66MH9-FHXIA-5EL38 [strike](If you sell this to G2A fck you)[/strike] The game is going to be available to play in a demo this year for a limited time on the next steam fest, which begins on 9th October of 2023. When that happens, make sure you wishlist the game for the full release. If you have the game, please let me know on discord what you think of the game. Alright, that's it, thanks for reading!
- Leaderboard will now display TOP 100 people instead of TOP 50
- Reset ppl for monthly
- Updated Steamworks API
- Updated German, Italian, Serbian/Croatian/Bosnian
- Updated the Native Linux Version
- Removed some splash texts
- "Restart Challenge" is now translated
TCC Updated to Beta 1.9.3
Added donation DLCs. These are solely to support the developer. When you purchase the donation DLCs, you get a badge which is upgradable! Also, in future updates, donators will be able to play 'Special Levels' which are donator only levels, where they can play the special levels to upgrade another badge in the future. For base game players, the special levels will appear in Endless Run. 2 DONATION 3 DONATION 5 DONATION You DO NOT have to pay! This is just to support me in general, and this donation trend will continue in my future games, including Asteroids++ - Re-Added Fog in Level Editor - Made custom hat support slightly better
TCC Beta 1.9.3.1 & 1.9.3.2
Fixed various menu bugs if you had a controller plugged in (mouse would teleport and you would enter menus upon hovering your mouse on buttons)
TCC Beta 1.9.3.3
- Fixed credits screen using wrong font
- Nerfed World 7 a bit
- Removed already used Asteroids ++ keys in the rng pool
- Winner of Monthly Endless Run may ask for an Asteroids ++ key (the more gold endless badges you have, the more keys you can ask for)
- Now it is possible to look through your leaderboards using the steam client.
Features
- Added support for custom hats! Import custom hats in ANY RESOLUTION. To do so, go to %appdata%, then go to the Custom folder, and then Custom Hats! Put .png versions of the hat! - Improved Level Editor loads are way better, now there's an menu of all of the saved levels where you could just click on the level name and it will instantly load. No more manual typing! - Engine updated from 2022.3 to 2022.4, bringing performance improvements and fixing memory leaks - Updated scribble engine and steamworks API
TCC Beta 1.9.2.4 - Added 6 new badges in the profile menu (their use will come shortly after) - Added a new button in the "gamemode" menu, I wonder what could that be? - Fixed W7-L1 being impossible in 60hz, also nerfed W7-L2 a bit. - Endless Run Balance Changes - Key drops are rarer if you already got a key before. 1.9.2.3 Patches: - Added a special badge in the profile menu once you obtain an item unlocked from the key - Fixed a very critical bug where the key drops was impossible to get. (LOL I'M SO SORRY FOR THAT!) - Increased Chance for key drop (as an apology) - Better cog increases key drop chance - Players can now receive multiple keys - You have a higher chance of obtaining the key if you have profile badges - Updated some languages
What's this? You can earn a random key while playing? But what kind of game will you get? Is the game even public or not? And most of all, is it even a steam key, or something else entirely... You will find out eventually, only select players will be chosen at random or by simply playing.
I really didn't think people would get so competitive over a golden cog, this is the irony of our society. All of the first 3 positions were taken very quickly with a very high score, where an average player would never get to, so I added a top 10 place. If it so happens that top 10 also becomes very hard to get to, I'll be adding top 25 as soon as when 25 people have tried to spin the cog. Features - Added a top 10 place cog - Cog will be updated instantly when switching through menus Bugs - Fixed "Wait few days" - Fixed many narrator texts (thank you frsik) - Fixed visual glitch in ending screen
Wow!
We have released SKINS for the setting button! To gather them, participate in the 'Distance Cog' event where you have to put your mouse on the setting button in order to rotate the settings cog enough to get it going! The more you spin it, the farther it goes.
1st place gets a golden cog,
2nd place is silver,
3rd place is bronze.
Have Fun!
Main Menu
- Added a news banner that appears only when you launch the game after a significant update. - Removed "Level Editor Tutorial" in settings - You can now add custom splash texts in the game - Added "Custom Splashes" in settings - Changed irrelevant splash texts - Updated wiki button - Updated twitter and youtube buttons
New Level Editor: (Beta)
- New Level Editor is available to try out - New Level Editor is MUCH more stable, added an ability to add narrator text, added block styles, added custom thumbnail publishing, publishing works in new level editor, further improved code, updated level editor save files, and more. - Added Block and Star Styles in Level Editor - Added Brick Blocks Decorations
Other
- Removed old discord presence code - Remove old level editor tutorial - From Beta 1.9.2.1 and onwards, the level editor will be removed on android platforms, for many reasons. But maybe if I find the use for it I'll bring it back.
- Updated fonts
- Some fonts have Cyrillic support
- Fixed no clipping inside blocks
- Fixed a issue with the badge system where people had the commentary mode dlc
- Updated Scribble Engine
- Temporarily disabled some particles
Beta 1.9.2 Level-Editor Semi-Overhaul
Despite the update name, the level editor is ongoing a UI overhaul for the level editor. It is just about 60% complete so please be patient as this is still work in progress. However I still do have some exciting things to share about the 1.9.2 update regardless, and I also have some things to talk about the new editor.
Features:
Main Menu:
- Badge System updated, now it shows the number of the same badges you have instead of placing them next to eachother
- Added a hat merchant button in the game-mode menu, but at a 50% higher price than in-game
- Moved the customize button
- Old School Endless Run is now free, unless played on android which is now 100 instead of 250
- Calendar now costs 100 credits, unless played on android which is 250
- Added wiki button in support section
- Added a new button in fun mode, which will be usable in beta 1.9.3 as an entirely different game-mode
- Changed most of narrator text
LEVEL EDITOR (will be for 1.9.2.1)
- It is temporarily disabled, as the level editor isn't fully finished, the entire editor is on a semi-overhaul and please let me finish it before it's actually ready to ship. - Overhaul to the level editor has been done. Upon entering, there's a setup screen which lets you input basic info about your level, like level name, description, level size, and other things such as enabling fog. These things were previously individual buttons which were cramping the UI in a bad way, so this is currently a fix for it. - Loading levels will be easier as you'll actually have a menu to click on, note that this won't work on older levels you've made. You can still load levels in a traditional way by typing it's level name - Typing narrator text, or generally, anywhere, is now much more convenient and less annoying, if you've been writing text you know what I am talking about. - You no longer have to press E or K to spawn doors or keys, they are directly in the item menu - Added a button for item menu, which is much better than just having a hotkey to display it - Added category buttons in the item menu, which imo makes more sense - Added hotkeys for many things (grid, settings, item menu, and other things) - Other general Improvements to the editor were made
GAME
- Added 5 differently colored slopes (can be used in editor)
- Game is now set to ONLY 60HZ, other refresh rates may or may not be available in the future.
- Balanced some levels
- Reduced file size by 1MB
CAMPAIGN
- There's a new ending, that's all I have to say.
Bugfixes:
- Fixed movement and collision code that was atrocious
- Fixed broken jumping
- Fixed engine related bugs
- Fixed grammar in some languages
- Game will launch properly from steam
Added a game achievement when the game crashes... lol
Coming in Beta 1.9.2:
- Recently I was working on overhauling Level Editor, I am here to share it with you:
LEVEL EDITOR SETUP
- The Level Editor in my opinion wasn't user friendly, the last UI overhaul was in late 2019 when I added saving and loading features to it, and it's a mess. - There will now be a setup screen for every level you make, it will let you input the level name, narrator text, music of choice, level width and height, default player color and other things. - Typing level names will be more natural, before I made a clunky writing system but now that will be gone! - There is also going to be a seperate menu for loading levels instead of individually typing a level name to load it. - There will be a button which shows the item menu instead of having to press I to show up (most people didn't even know about it!) Also in the item menu there will be categories (i was so many people choose backgrounds...) - Better publishing screen! You can input the level description individually instead of narrator text that shows in workshop, I'll also try to get custom thumbnails to work better - Better level editor tutorial and better hotkeys (so no more K to place key)
My games!
- There will be a menu displaying the games I made, in the future, when I develop games for steam, if a user downloads that game, they will get a badge displayed on their main menu! Cool! Here is a small sneak peek (real)
Full Release
- This is the year where TCC will get a full release. No more waiting around, I am done as you are! The game is around 95% complete I will try to get the main things done before I call it quits. Well.. not really... I will still update the game, but it will more/less become bugfixes, endless run balancing and calendar updates. Thank you for your time and happy new year!
BETA 1.9.1 - HUGE CHRISTMAS UPDATE!
Limited Time Event:
- Christmas Hat is available in hat merchant shop during 25th December to 7th January!
CALENDAR REWORK:
- Reworked the entire calendar here is how it works:
- This new calendar is dynamic, you can choose to play Easy, Normal or Hard difficulty calendar levels
- The game will choose 7 random levels from the calendar based on the difficulty you chose and a randomized seed, note that you cannot get levels from the main game or challenges.
- Each difficulty rewards you differently!
- Easy Difficulty rewards you with a random hat
- Normal Difficulty rewards you with either a random hat or skin (excluding legendary), and extra 100 credits
- Hard difficulty rewards you with either a random hat/skin/item, and extra 250 credits
- Getting a duplicate customizable will give you extra 50 credits.
- All credits rewards will be multiplied based on player activity in the game
- Don't worry! I didn't delete the old calendar, so therefore you can still play those levels!
Future:
- Starting January 2023, there will be leaderboards based on how many people have completed the new calendar, which will later be used for calendar based badges
- I will rework the badge system so it's not cluttered (so for example, if you have 5 of the same badges, it will display a number instead of putting them all next to eachother)
Other:
- All calendar levels are unlocked - Changed how leaderboard systems work
Asteroids++ (New upcoming game)
Asteroids++ is now in public alpha! You can now have a chance to try the game out yourself! Eventually, this game will be available on steam too! Please give me feedback on the game, it would be very appreciated! Click to download the game here

- Difficulty 3 - 15 > 30 credits
- Difficulty 4 - 20 > 40 credits

- Custom Endless Run is unchanged
TCC Beta 1.9 is here![/h1]
Beta 1.9 is a milestone, containing all of the previous Beta 1.8.X patchnotes, leading up to this moment.
This version brings stability and game engine updates to the game in general. It is recommended to read through the older update notes just to see how much fixes has gone into this update, take a look!
Plans:
These series of updates will be a polish update, in other words, trying to overhaul existing systems and clean some bugs.
- This update brings Custom Languages, it is extremely easy to add and change words in existing languages, and I am currently working on symbol support such as cyrillic and chinese.
- Added Friend Leaderboards in leaderboards
- Brought back the android port, check it out!
- It also brings secret skips in World 4 and World 5. Can you can find them?
Starting from Beta 1.9.1 - There will be a semi-overhaul to the Level Editor, making it much more user friendly to use.
Beta 1.9.2 - Better Menus (I plan to change it for future controller support + I wanna make a way better workshop menu)
Beta 1.9.3 - Commentary Mode DLC
Beta 1.9.4 and onwards - Bugfixes and more code optimizations
Release 1.0 - Adding skins, challenges, calendar levels from time to time
Price Changes
Game price will increase from 2 Euros to 3.50 Euros, on 30th November. Same goes with USD from 3USD to 3.50USD. There will be also price changes based on inflation, as the game is priced wrong in some countries.
There will be a sale on 18th November which lasts for 4 days, be on the lookout!
New Game?
I am working on a brand new Free-to-Play title for steam. It is still rough but it needs a few months of polish. It's basically an asteroids game but with loads of cool stuff crammed in it, like customizable weapons and synergy between them, fun endless run mode and more!
When the game is out you will get your hands on it!
That's it!
If you have been following my post you probably noticed the decreased workload on this game. I don't plan to quit or anything, it is just that I am quite busy because of college, so I apologize in advance. Don't worry, loads of cool stuff are coming soon and I hope you can try these experiences out! Thank you once again!
4TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY
(Made by Nightmareyoc)
Hello everyone.
I would like to announce that The Colorful Creature is officially 4 years old! The game's still in beta but it's getting VERY close to the RELEASE 1.0 version! I will share a development timeline from September 2018 to September 2022:
TCC Development Timeline (2018-2022)
You might be thinking "isn't this game supposed to be finished by now?" and I have my own response to this question. To be fair, the development of the game could've been much faster if I had spent more time working on the game, I am not working on the game full time, because during development, I was in high school and I worked on youtube videos. I also learned a ton from The Colorful Creature, and I still am, which is great because the next project I will make will have cleaner and more responsive code! I am a solo developer working on this project by myself, and having others help me in some things here and there, so please understand that my game has flaws, and I'll try to fix them if I can. Also the game is 30% off for a week (same with soundtrack), so if you don't have the game but you are interested, you can buy the game! Or you could buy it to a friend if you have it in your library. Whatever I won't tell you what to do, have fun!
Beta 1.8.9 released (Pre-Beta 1.9)
LANGUAGE SYSTEM OVERHAUL
- A new language system is in place! The game will now use files in order to translate the game, it works by having multiple .lang files and based on the word id, it finds a correct word and puts it in the game. I also removed the old language system which should increase performance!
- This isn't completely finished yet, but you can now try out custom languages in action! But beware some things might be still broken!
ENDLESS RUN
- Balanced difficulty in levels
- The first 3 levels of endless run you play will NEVER have difficulty up
DAILY LEVELS SEMI-OVERHAUL
- Daily Levels Streak will now reset after 2 weeks instead of a day, seems like playing daily isn't too fun.
- This is to make it more fair to keep your streak, the problem with the old system was that if you got a hard level you couldn't beat, you had no choice but for your streak to reset. This new system still rewards you and gives more activity.
32-BIT DROPPED SUPPORT
From TCC Beta 1.8.9 and beyond, the game will be 64-BIT! This is because gamemaker as an engine itself will no longer support 32-bit compiled games starting this September, and the extensions I am using (like the steamworks extension which brings online functionality) are also switching to 64-bit. Today I encountered a problem where I literally couldn't run the game at 32-bit just because the steamworks extension was 64-bit So what can you do if you have the steam version of the game, but have a 32-bit system? I'll be opening a 32-bit branch where people with 32-bit systems will be able to play the game, however, that branch will never be updated because.... well, I can't really stick with an old gamemaker version... which really sucks to be honest.
GENERAL
- Changed double jump - Removed many old language systems, improving performance - Added fonts folder in the executable folder, will be used for better character support
Features:
BADGING SYSTEM
Badging system was added so you can get rewarded with monthly endless run medals! Not only that, but you can also get special badges such as a game disc badge and the speak bubble badge, which you get by buying the OST of the game or the upcoming developer commentary mode. Well, I guess badges could be used for verifying too.
MONTHLY ENDLESS RUN
At the end of MONTHLY ENDLESS RUN, players will receive a endless badge displayed at the main menu!
- 1st place receives a golden endless run badge
- 2nd place receives a silver endless run badge
- 3rd place receives a bronze endless run badge
- 4-10th place gets a participate endless run badge
- Added world 4 secret way
- You can now see details of badges in the main menu
- Hardmode levels more balanced (thanks KD)
Bug Fixes:
- Fixed zero gravity
- Fixed tutorial challenge
- Fixed narrator text
- Fixed hungarian translation
- Fixed some skins while in zero gravity (thanks dha)
- Linux version is currently not working, I highly recommend for linux users to use proton to launch and play the game. Native support will come eventually again when the problems are fixed :)
IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Future DLC coming soon:
A future DLC is coming where the game will include a commentary mode. Commentary mode is a mode where you get to see how the development process of The Colorful Creature went throughout the years and what I've learned throughout development (and believe me, I learned a ton!). The developer commentary DLC will be available at the end of this year and will cost 1 euro. To be honest, I hate making stuff like DLC's but I don't want to put like "2500 LEVELS DLC" because that's just plain stupid, all levels are free to play! This mode is entirely optional and you do not have to buy it, only do so if you feel like supporting me. There will be also two upcoming bundles for TCC: TCC Deluxe Edition which will include developer commentary and base game TCC Ultimate Edition which will include Base game, game ost AND Dev Commentary
GAME PRICE CHANGES
I plan to increase the base game price from 2 euros up to 3 euros, dollars will stay the same but I am still concerned because of the recent USD value increase. Generally, the game will just cost more, but when you ask? Well, it will be somewhere at the end of 2022, or somewhere around Beta 1.9 or the Release 1.0 versions!
Dropping 32-bit support for The Colorful Creature this September
I'll be dropping 32bit support for TCC for a couple of reasons, the main reason being that Gamemaker, the game engine I use, will no longer support 32-bit exports from this August. What I could do is essentially try to stay in the same gamemaker version, but that will mean that the game will miss out on game engine's bugfixes or performance improvements. 32-bit is considered obsolete by many, because 64bit became a standard in 2003. If you have a computer that is like over 20 years old or is very weak, you likely have a 32-bit system, however with android phones, this issue could be very common. Will this affect you? Most likely not. Windows emulates 32-bit pretty well because of backwards compatibility. Making TCC 64-bit may give benefits such as surpassing the 2GB memory limit, and other important factors. One thing that won't exactly work is discord API in TCC, since the dll file is 32 bit that is used, this will be fixed soon!
4th year anniversary and Beta 1.9
On 3rd September, the game will be on sale for 30% off, including the soundtrack. This will be the BIGGEST SALE yet for The Colorful Creature, with larger sales also happening in the future. The game will be updated to Beta 1.8.9 (pre-beta 1.9), where the game will include the following features: - Full Language Support - New Challenge (new skin too) - Potential new hardmode medal in challenges - 4 new hats - Fixes to the game in general BETA 1.9 PLANS: Beta 1.9 - Main Game Expansion (More secrets, levels, perhaps new ending) - Few optimizations (better player/troop code rewrite, more flexibility etc) - Return for languages with a WAY better flexible system (English, French, Spanish, Italian, Magyar), which also allows you to do custom languages too - Better Level Editor functionality for mobile Beta 1.9.1 September 2022 - Fixing potential bugs in Beta 1.9 - Adding lesser languages (Portuguese, Czech, Chinese, Ukrainian) Beta 1.9.2 - October 2022 - Better Menus (I plan to change it for future controller support + I wanna make a way better workshop menu) Beta 1.9.3 and onwards - October to December 2022 - Commentary Mode DLC - Polish up to Release - Bugfixing until release Release 1.0 Hopefully December 2022 - From here I'll work on the calendar, further localization and smaller fixes
Final note:
I hope you enjoy or have enjoyed The Colorful Creature and thanks for sticking with my community we have created together. This project has flaws but I taught so much from it and I am glad there are indeed people who are playing the game and having fun. Thank you!

Made by Lomany
Sorry for slow updates.
I have few projects that are work in progress right now! Stay tuned for more and stay awesome! btd6salute
Fixed steam API not loading leaderboards properly Fixed crash in credits menu
Fixed the game's YYC compiler which brings a huge performance boost again and Android Port
- Fixed graphical glitches with the king animations and settings menu text - Added the ability to enable cheats in gameplay - Added leaderboards for all worlds (should've done this earlier, but whatever)
PROBLEMS WITH THE GAME
The game has a lot of issues, and I've updated engines multiple times to the point that "cleaning up", and the YYC compiler and android port doesn't work anymore. I hope that either Yoyogames or Opera can fix this because on my end I have no idea what to do to prevent this issue :(
- Fixed some bugs with zero gravity - Added [LITE EDITION] in betas, which removes music completely. The point of the lite version is to decrease file size for people who don't want to or can't listen to the soundtrack. Enjoy!
Updated text render to the most recent version, which previously caused a crash when leaving level editor

This release isn't huge, but I had to fix this issue that very recent gamemaker versions have plagued this game for a few weeks now. It made the demo completely not work. But now it should be back to normal! Oh yeah, and happy easter!
Features:
- Made wheel rewards better:
- Removed "No rewards" from the wheel, there were way too many cases where people spin the wheel to get... nothing. So now the wheel will reward you everytime. No cons.
- Added "Wheel Multiplier", which increases everytime you beat any level in the game, although this resets if you leave the game.
- Fixed Steam API:
- Steam wasn't working at all for this game for few weeks, it actually broke the demo of this game to make everything available, luckily I reverted the demo version to an older one, fixed steam api and now achievements, leaderboards and custom levels should work again!
- Daily Levels:
- It's finally in the game! Daily Levels. Get to play all 300+ in-game levels!
- Everytime you beat a daily level, you get credits and your daily level streak increases! Compete in leaderboards and see who will have the highest streak!
Bugfixes:
Fixed gordon freeman skin when going right Fixed leaderboards in endless run having "seconds" values instead of numerical values Optimizations and improvements to android version.
Fixed stats achievements not working on steam
- Fixed crashes (thanks Kaplan Beni 7) - Fixed hat stats
- Added rat hat in the game, costs 75 credits in hat merchant shop - Fixed crash with particles I released the android version a couple of days ago...
Fixed a ton of issues regarding to android port of the game:
- Better looking buttons
- Fixed hat merchant
- Adding skip levels button (maybe even offer to watch an ad if you dont have coins to begin with)
- More frequent ads (like 20% more common) if you have higher playtime
- Eraser with level editor
- Buttons hide properly in main menu and in pause menu
- Fixed crashes with high settings and hat merchant (and hat merchant now works properly, meaning you can buy hats now)
- Changed button's look (give me feedback on this one)
- Changed/Removed text saying "Press [X] to interact" in order to make it less confusing
- Changed rewards when you finish watching an ad
- Changed AD frequency (same for newer players, but with higher playtime, people will receive 20% more ads)
- Fixed more buttons
- Google play services now work, meaning you can upload leaderboards and get achievements now!
- Added 2 new achievements
- Moved restart button to the left by default (will be configurable in the future)
- Made buttons way more visible (will be configurable in the future)
Tired of having 0 credits in your bank account? Tired of getting no rewards on the wheel? Well, TCC is currently not very profitable on steam, so I decided to add other methods in order to get more income.
Behold! This is what you have been (totally) waiting for. No more grinding! No more endless run! No more wheel spinning, introducing microtransactions!
For 19.99$, you can purchase yourself 1000 credits, currently the best offer! For 199.99$, you can buy 10000 credits, it's like buying the previous offer 10 times! And for a very affordable 99999.99$, you can buy me a house (and buy yourself 1 BILLION credits!) Oh and finally, you can earn very rare 2 steam achievements Have fun was- i mean, spending your cash on goods!
In this post I will announce future updates of the game, and it's future support after the full release of the game. Let's get started.
Beta 1.8.X
As I said previously, Beta 1.8.X will have most patches, just because the update initially wasn't something I had hoped for. Nontheless we got great features such as leaderboards, zero gravity, big levels in level editor, and a bunch of quality of life improvements. However it doesn't end here, because patches will continue: Second thoughts about the calendar: It was probably a mistake.. it is not a bad feature but it does really slow down the actual progress of the game, plus nobody is really making levels for workshop. The calendar is supposed to be a gamemode where I add user levels to the actual game, but it seems like it is not helping to increase the player count... which I deeply hoped. The calendar will be still worked on, but sometime later in beta 1.9, and I'll hope for more user levels. I am planning to add a new challenge related to zero gravity, not sure what difficulty but it will probably be difficulty 2-4. And judging by the name, yes, it will include zero gravity and it's fun mechanics! However I need to fix some bugs regarding the item, because 60 herz players are experiencing major differences between 60hz and 144hz. Speaking of challenges, I am planning adding a new medal: hardmode medal, where you need to beat challenges in their "hardmode form". Not only that you have limited lives, but levels are way harder than normal. You have a time limit (Just like in Yeah GL difficulty) and if you win you get a black medal and border. This is going to be the final medal for challenges. Alt paths will be added in main game, and you can find those hidden behind fake walls in the game. Going through them will let you play harder versions of levels, but as a reward you get to beat the game faster, and maybe there will be other rewards. Wheel overhaul, I plan adding different wheels with different rewards, and removing the "No rewards" slot. I may overhaul code or use the existing one, who knows... I plan adding a pacifist route, where in it you have a second way of not killing bosses and therefore revealing a second ending. Not sure how thats gonna be performed but I have few ideas for the final boss where if you dont kill anyone troops will help you defeat the King instead of using the gun.
Beta 1.9.X
This update is mostly planned to be a polish update, fixing major bugs, perhaps overhauling things like the main menu, adding controller support and etc. Custom Splash Texts, Hats, Skins and Items, sharable custom endless run modes are planned to be added Planning to add the ability for people to upload user made challenges, so you can finally upload more levels at once! You may have to beat the entire challenge to publish it, but we shall see Controller support would be nice. Few people asked for it so why not? It will just take a while because me as a dev does not use a controller and I am not a console guy, so when i do eventually add it, I would like feedback from people.
Release and long term support
When the game gets released, I might stream few TCC streams on twitch, steam or other platforms as celebration. On launch, the game will leave its early access/beta stage and thus the price of the game will INCREASE from 2 euros to 3 (or from 3-4$). The final thing that will happen after game's release is long term support. And there are 3 different scenarios of how I will go about this.
If the game is doing well:
Then I'll work on the game often with quality updates, such as new features, items, skins, stuff like that.
If the game is doing average:
Then there will still be updates, but they will come out much much less frequently
And if the game is doing poorly:
Then there will still be no updates, with the exception of bugfixes. Unfortunately, I can't keep developing the game forever if there is no audience for the game.
Mobile Port
Rest assured! Mobile port is coming! Specifically Android port because iOS is way harder to port the game and financially its more harsh than steam (100$ a year for App Store on iOS). However there are still a few glitches here and there, mostly crashing, but the general progress is just almost fully working controls and somewhat decent menu navigation. There will be a special trailer for the mobile version of the game and I am excited to see people finally get hands on it.
Quick Q&A on mobile port:
Q: How much will the game cost? A: Free Q: Is there any downsides to the mobile port compared to steam version A: In actuality, mobile port and steam versions are exactly the same... with some exceptions. Q: Are there going to be ads in the game A: Yes there will be ads, but I'll try my best to make the game as least annoying with ads as possible, while... well, still keeping ads. Q: Does my progress from steam carry over to Android A: No Q: Will the game have cloud support A: Likely, but not certain, however as I said, there won't be cross platform compatibility Q: Does the game have steam features, like workshop support, achievements and leaderboards A: Google has it's own achievement and leaderboard system, unfortunately, workshop support wont be there. Q: Can't you just make your own server where people post levels? A: No, because I am very stupid
That's it for now... Thanks to everyone who supports the game, I appreciate it very much! Hopefully the game's legacy will continue forward!

Before we start, I have to tell you a story about a person that totally exists in this world, Mark, and the issues he was facing.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Story of Mark
Once upon a time, a guy called Mark has bought The Colorful Creature
He liked the game and wanted to make his own levels
So he drew with his mouse on the canvas
And he published a level that he considered... perfection.
However, Mark realized something was wrong... terribly wrong
He forgot to put backgrounds, write narrator text, it was really bad!
"Oh ma god!", he said... "I simply forgor!"
Now he has to delete his level from the workshop and reupload it
"What a hassle... I am leaving a negative review on stea-
INFILAND: WORRY NOT, I HAVE A SOLUTION! BEHOLD!
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Enough rambling, time for patch notes.
Features:
- You can now update your levels in level editor! Finally! (updating old levels is possible, but require a bit of work).
- In order to update your level, you must do the following:
- When you have 2 or more updates you can switch back and fourth between level updates on steam, useful if you accidently updated a level or something
- Tags will automatically update when you update your level, so if you add or remove something, tags will be relevant!
- Changed narrator text
For older published levels, how to update them:
- Go to local files of the game (%appdata%), find The_Colorful_Creature, and then find your level
- Inside your level folder, edit OtherLevelEditor.sav file (in notepad or whatever)
- In the file, below [Other LE], put the following things:
- Workshop level version isn't too important, but include it there, however what is important is the "Publish ID" variable. Replace the 0 of Publish ID with the number of your level.
- To find out the publish id, go to your level in steam workshop (not in game, on steam), and copy the link, in the link you have the long 10 digit number which is the Publish ID. And done!
Bugfixes:
- Custom Levels menu should no longer check every 20 frames if there's a new level, it will only check once.
- Fixed calendar issues.
Other:
I am currently making a document about the future of TCC, some exciting announcements and long term support for the game, stay tuned!
- Fixed week 8 levels - Calendar levels in endless run are more frequent
- Added week 8 levels in calendar and endless run - All hat prices increased by 50% (50C -> 75C) - Hats will cost 33% more (75C -> 100C) if you started playing from level select menu - Hats in hardmode will have a deeper discount, the discounts are: Normal HM Difficulty - 5% discount (75C -> 71C) Difficult HM Difficulty - 10% discount (75C -> 68C) Insane HM Difficulty - 15% discount (75C -> 64C) Ridiculous HM Difficulty - 20% discount (75C -> 60C) Impossible HM Difficulty - 25% discount (75C -> 56C) Yeah GL HM Difficulty - 35% discount (75C -> 49C) Eternal Suffering HM Difficulty - 45% discount (75C -> 41C) - Other fixes
Update on android port:
I am working on an android port of the game and it is confirmed! However the port is very unfinished and there are very few people with access to it, but if you want access join this server and dm me. - Fixed crash in hat merchant on android - Fixed crash when you touch red, yellow, green, blue and white spirals on android - Android buttons hide in main menu now (but still might not work properly)
- Added Zero Gravity Limiter
- Added Functionality with Gravity Limiters with Zero Gravity
- 3 brand new background blocks for your levels! Normal, Vertical and Horizontal spikes! (they aren't what you think)
- Added warnings if you tried to skip wheel cooldown

- Increased chance to get a calendar level

- Few bugfixes
Features:
Added zero gravity item, which can do the following:
- Lets the player fly
- The player can rotate entire 360 degrees by turning left and right.
- The player accelerates by holding the jump button
- The player breaks by holding the interact button
- Colors work with zero gravity and colored blocks and limiter blocks can affect the player
- Speed works with zero gravity, allowing player's max speed to be increased or decreased.
- Other gravity items will exit reddie's zero gravity flying mode to normal mode
- Player's hitbox is different while in zero gravity.
- The gun works differently, instead of shooting left and right, the gun takes the angle direction of the player and bullets go where the player is facing. (You can make interesting puzzles with boxes)
- Other things are on the way such as zero gravity limiter block.
- Overhauled skin, hat and item system for the player, so it can support zero gravity rotating, note that not all skins work properly, they will be fixed in future patches.
- Added an anti-cheat. Not going to go in depth how it works, but basically if the game sees something suspicious, it just turns on "cheats", just like if you went to settings, which will prevent the player to send leaderboards, save games, publish level editor levels and so on. Don't worry, this anticheat wont brick your save, and is extremely unlikely to get flagged as a cheater if you are a legit player.

- General diamond medal balancing so that red medals are possible.

Before we start:
This version will have a lot of patches in the future, like a lot. The reason why is because there will be bugfixes but especially new additions like new skins, hats, items, overhauling menus, adding leaderboards, changing levels, complex systems and etc to Beta 1.8.X versions! You might notice that this update seems small, but it took me a long time to add big levels and the calendar, so to give it back to you guys, there will be patches and new additions to Beta 1.8.X I also highly recommend reading this first, because it explains Beta 1.8 a lot. Be on the lookout for future patches of the game!
Features!
Main Menu
- Added the news button in the main menu
- Added current players counter
- Added credits multiplier, more players = more credits for everyone!

- Added 6 new hats (will add 11 new ones in future patches)
- Added a new customizable option, and those are Items! (will add 11 new ones in future patches)
- Items can be also used in multiplayer
Other:
The game will automatically create the Calendar folder in local files/Save Files/Calendar in there it will name a folder depending on which version of the calendar you are loading (2022 calendar, 2023 calendar etc) In the 2022 calendar folder it makes 12 folders for each month Finally in each folder it creates 4 files (one is for each week) which will be used to check if you have all of the levels beaten. The main point is that all of this is dynamic, no hardcoded values, so I don't have to write code for each year, month, week etc. The game is only provided info what it needs to create by itself :) totally not a complicated system where it took me hours to make lol
Bugfixes!
- Fixed Spelling issues in narrator text
- Fixed troop xray
- Fixed level editor UI in big levels

- Slight Performance fixes
- Fixed impossible/extremely pixel perfect level in January Day 27 (thanks dha)

- Adding presets to custom endless run

Beta 1.8 update is now closer than ever! Only 9 days left until the next major update. So now it would be a good time for them to get the demo and buy the game during winter sale.
The Colorful Creature and it's soundtrack are now 20% off!
You can now buy the colorful creature for 1.64 Euros in 2 weeks, or better yet, you could get a bundle that is 30% off and you get a soundtrack out of it, for the same price if the game itself didn't have a sale. So what are you waiting for?
Oh and also...
During this sale, this christmas hat is available in the hat merchant shop until 7th December for a limited time. So get it while you still can :)
Where were we...
Around 3 months ago, I've released TCC Beta 1.7 on Steam, which was a great update which added steam related stuff like workshop support, steam achievements and other features like new skins, fourth and fifth boss, graphical improvements to menus, backgrounds and particles and so on. After the amazing update, I've took my time to also work on patching the game with bugfixes, as well as adding new skins, challenges and the wheel. This is all great and all but there is a huge problem, and that is replayability of the game. It's not like the game does not have replayability value, you have skins, the credits machine in the main game, hardmode, challenges, hat merchant, achievements, workshop etc. But there do exist people who don't care about getting all medals from challenges, who don't care about hardmode, or are not interested in getting achievements, skins and hats. They may only care about beating levels. So how can we make a system that rewards players for only playing levels but also making it as encouraging? Well here is my plan that I had in mind for MONTHS now that I am hoping for it to work, and I had it all prepared up:
INTRODUCING THE CALENDAR!
The calendar is the next huge feature that will change TCC replayability value forever in the game and hopefully get players to more frequently play and enjoy the game.
How does it work?
Upon loading the game, you can find the calendar in fun mode, when entering the calendar, you will see a menu that has months from January to December. When you click one of the months, this is where the fun begins...
Each MONTH has 4 WEEKS and a WEEK has 7 levels. Upon completing a WEEK, you will unlock a reward that is displayed at the right side of the screen. Each actual day that passes in realtime, a new level gets unlocked and the levels are chosen from the steam workshop of the game and then also used in Endless Run later. The rewards that you can get from weeks are skins, hats, credits and items (I'll talk about items later).
If you do the math, each month has 28 levels, meaning an entire calendar has a whopping:
334 NEW LEVELS!
And that is all in just one update! Not only that, since there is 48 weeks in the calendar, then there is 48 rewards. So if you finish the entire calendar you can get 12 skins, 12 hats, 12 items and a huge amount of credits.
Well if that doesn't excite you I don't know what will.... Now before I move on, I do want to warn that the calendar has a paywall of 1000 credits. Again, I want to repeat that the game doesn't and will not have microtransactions at all, so everyone gets the same amount of credits when playing the game. This paywall is added to, again, encourage replay value, while also having their credits spent on something and keep the newer players away from harder levels. Don't worry! If 1000 credits sounds like a lot (which it is). I added a dynamic system which decreases the price of the paywall overtime. So by the end of 2022, the cost will be down dynamically by 500 credits, and by the end of 2023, 250 credits.
BIG LEVELS IN LEVEL EDITOR
This was a highly, very highly requested feature, and I am happy to report that yes, you can indeed now make big levels in The Colorful Creature Beta 1.8. This is opening so much level combinations, its probably now in billions. Regardless, I've limited the levels to how much big they can actually scale to (for performance, level length and level quality reasons), and its from 32x22 blocks (default value) to 100x100 blocks, it might not sound like much but remember that you can fit over 9 default sized levels within 100x100 block space.
Also, this was HIGHLY REQUESTED.
I am adding a item menu so you don't have to constantly scroll and keep finding what you need.
NEW WAY TO CUSTOMIZE!
Since I am adding the calendar, there needed to be something special in the calendar. Yes sure, you had rewards like credits, skins, hats, but what else could be added?
Introducing items!
Items are a third way to customize your player. Reddie will swing the item when he is moving. They only exist in the calendar for now, but may appear elsewhere in the future! Oh yea, you can use those in local multiplayer
THE USUAL
Of course as usual, we will be also adding: - More skins - More hats - Bugfixes - New challenges - Secrets :) - Settings - General Game Improvements - And more!
THE GOAL OF BETA 1.8
I am hoping, really hoping to get more people into the game with this update and finally get to play it. The version is around 30% complete. So when is it coming out you might be asking? Well... in 2 weeks. You might think that this is a really bad idea. Considering Beta 1.7 was out for 3 months and only getting 30% done, and getting to 100% done is impossible by 2 weeks.
This is all true. But in truth....
I am making useful sacrifices for the version to come out early. For example: The Calendar doesn't really have 334 levels, I only made around 35 so far. The Calendar doesn't have 48 rewards, it only has 4. And the reason why that is the case is because other months are not unlocked so therefore you can't play the rest of 304 levels or get the other 44 rewards on the first day. We all know that its an impossible task for me to finish all of the levels and rewards in 2 weeks and what I did is I've made an unlocking system which hopefully saves me time and hassle. The Level Editor in it's current state is not fully ready yet, as there are bugs and issues with saving/loading big levels. But of course by the time the game is near deadline, these issues will be fixed. Currently, my solution to make things work is to prioritize the most important things before an update comes. And then once fixed, you won't even notice the behind the scenes work. And finally, behind the scenes, I actually started working on Beta 1.8 around when Beta 1.7.3 came out, so it not like I worked barely on it It is very bad to have crunch time and work on a lot useless featues for a short period of time, so everything has to be prioritized and planned how it should. But anyway, I hope you are excited as I am. And I think we will be all getting more frequent, meaningful updates. There's still time to get everything done, I'll try making a worthwhile update.

- Fixed Made by Infiland in other refresh rate values.
- Fixed countdown timer in Funmode.
Features:
- Added Timer in Funmode. I wonder what that could be?
- Added new levels in Endless Run
Bugfixes:
- Fixed minor bugs
Before we start:
This is probably the last Beta 1.7.X update, maybe... I want to work on languages, and content that can increase replayability in the game. If you are wondering what the replayability is, I'll reveal those in the upcoming Beta 1.8 update!
Features:
- New Splash Texts

- Soundtrack now has 2 new songs
- Breakable Blocks are a bit more fragile with the player
- Added new custom levels completed stat

- Troop AI changed, it will now avoid moving platforms (when it's moving)
- You can now get credits from Custom Levels

- If there is custom music in Custom Levels, then the game will try to play that first instead of the music in-game.
Bugfixes:
- Fixed jumping and hitting the celling problem with breakable blocks
- You cannot publish hacked big levels anymore (for now)
- Fixed crash in skin menu when changing a language
- Fixed crash when troop collides with moving platform

Features:
- Added 5 new blocks, breakable red, yellow, green, blue and white blocks.
They act as normal blocks, except they can be broken. All types of breakable blocks can be broken by:
- Standing for too long on the block
- Jumping causes the block to break faster
- Hitting the block from below can damage the block
- Enemy troops can affect the block the same way the player can.
- Player bullets can damage the block
- Rockets can damage the block.
Bugfixes:
- Fixed interact key string - Custom music now works in custom levels - Better performance with collision - Fixed difficulty up/down visual glitch - Fixed publishing glitches - More One more thing:
- Made buttons better in Custom Levels - Removed a hard level from easy difficulties in endless run - Banned levels can no longer be played
Features:
- Instead of skipping through items using 1,2,3 number shortcuts in level editor, now you can use all of the numbers! Basically what that means is that people have better precision and this is a quality life improvement of the level editor - [strike]Don't press I in level editor[/strike]
Bugfixes:
- Game Over screen no longer corrupts the save file - Endless Run game over screen no longer crashes the game - Timer in Yeah GL and Eternal Suffering hardmode ending screens when you run out of time has proper speed now - Other bugfixes

- Added new game over screens for hardmode and endless run! The Hardmode screen shows you time, deaths and a message of encouragement, while the endless run screen shows you completed levels and if you got a new highscore. - Added a new song when you do get a game over (will add that to OST eventually) - Balanced Endless Run (Big Room Challenge appears way too often)

Before we start
I am secretly working on Beta 1.8, well, it's not a secret anymore, but basically when that version comes out I am planning to increase replay-value a ton. There'll be a huge feature in the update and the version will come somewhere at the beginning of January. Also whoever is playing the demo version of the game, yes, your game is being updated, it's just that the limited features are the only ones relevant to you. Anyway enough rambling and let's get onto the patch notes!
Features:
Troop Nerf!
- Nerfed the troop. I've made this video to show you how it was nerfed! [previewyoutube=sf1rm_GkGFE;full][/previewyoutube] Those with poor internet connection (or those who don't understand), troops now have "reaction time". Basically this lets the player jump over the troop, however if you stay with the troop for long enough it will predict that you will jump, otherwise if you just entered troop's range and jumped over it, then it's reactions are delayed. I think this is a good nerf, I heard things from people how they struggle against the troops, especially at the end of the game. So hopefully this increases the quality and enjoyment of the game.
Back to features:
- Added more endless run levels - Added a medal at the ending screen when you beat a challenge - Added a timer that tells you how far off you are from the diamond medal at the ending screen when you beat a challenge and custom levels. - Changed some levels - Balanced Endless Run Difficulty (World 3 was appearing too often) - Added new levels to Endless Run (From Difficulty 4-9) - The game is now m+ore compatible with TCC Demo! - Added more translations. All items and blocks in the level editor have been translated into German, Italian, French and Spanish. Also added more translations to buttons. Translators who helped me: -------------GERMAN------------- BLaacK Reisch KD10 devc -------------ITALIAN------------- dha Thirsty BOI -------------FRENCH------------- Maghreb Sanslesquellete -------------SPANISH------------- SuperYoshi_13
Bugfixes:
- Fixed death counter at the end of the game - Fixed optimization and engine problems - Fixed level Editor very minor Issues - Fixed some steam achievements - Torches actually get destroyed in-game when you touch water outside of level editor - Some text in other languages were not properly aligned - Fixed depth issues with settings - Fixed many bugs
- Some stuff translated - Fixed slippery challenge - Fixed publishing bugs - Other bugs
Demo Release
Today, we released the demo of the steam version of The Colorful Creature! This gives people a chance to see some of the features in the full game! Oh and also, this demo is NOT Beta 1.6.2, aka gamejolt/itch.io versions. Instead, the demo is combined with the steam version so I don't have to make two different instances of the same game. That's the power of if-else! Oh yeah, let's get onto what the demo has:
Demo Features:
- World 1 and World 2 is available - Difficulty 1 and 2 Challenges are available - Hardmode, Endless Run, Local Multiplayer, Online Leaderboards, Custom Levels are not available - You can buy most hats - You can get some skins - Level Editor is available but with limited features (No loading/saving, no fog, limited music, no naming, no description, no custom backgrounds, stars, thumbnails, no backgrounds or liquids and no publishing) - Removed the Load button for maingame (to avoid exploits) Hopefully this will be enough for the player who hasn't played the full version yet to choose whenever or not to buy the game. Regardless, have fun!
- Visual Performance - Fixed some bugs - More compatible with the upcoming TCC Demo!
On 7th October this year, I'll host a event on my discord server which where I'll host an event, wait, 7th is today? Wow, time flies fast!
Make the best workshop level
In the recent Beta 1.7.2 update, we added full workshop support, which is very important for the game. People do not have to manually change files in order to play other people's levels, you can just go to the official workshop of the game and search levels. So to promote such a feature, why not make an event about it? Make the best workshop level and you may win The Colorful Creature Soundtrack! Just make sure you join our discord server!
Soundtrack?
Oh yeah we released the official TCC soundtrack, and for people who haven't bought the game or even bought the soundtrack, you can get this bundle and save 13% of your money! Event starts today (7th October and ends on 21st October) Have fun!
Features:
- Game Engine updated from GMS 2.3.3 to GMS 2.3.5, which fixes specific lag issues with collision - Changed some levels - Changed text in level editor (looks slightly nicer) - Removed Texture Filter Setting (it was too useless, will maybe add antialiasing and vsync options) - Endless Run difficulty now always starts at 1 - Difficulty 1 in endless run made way easier - Languages are now in the pause menu setting - Listen Soundtrack button will now direct you to steam - When opening view workshop it will now open a tab in the steam browser instead of opening a browser in the background, that way you are logged in steam and you can more quickly download new levels
Bugfixes:
- Fixed level Editor very minor Issues - Fixed some steam achievements - Torches actually get destroyed in-game when you touch water outside of level editor
Prior to this version, workshop support was partial, because of the fact that you couldn't play workshop levels, but only upload/download them. Well now you can!
Features:
- Added FULL workshop support, you can now play workshop maps, however it may be still very buggy! This took me a long time to do, hopefully it will encourage people to use level editor more!
how 2 worksop?!?!??
1. Go to Start 2. Go to Funmode 3. Go to Custom Levels 4. Click "View Workshop" to download workshop levels 5. Then go to "Play Custom Levels" and select a level in the list. 6. Play level,[strike] give me playtime,[/strike] have fun
bacc 2 featurs
- Changed quite a bit of levels. - Changed how the wheel spins (more rng) - Wheel Cooldown decreases if the player wins levels (-20s in maingame, -10s in challenges) - Made it more clear what the "cooldown" is. - Translated some stuff - Added more splash text - Medal is added next to the timer when you win a workshop level
Bugfixes:
- Fixed -1m wheel issue - You can no longer exit out of the wheel screen when the wheel is spinning. - Fixed scrolling in Custom Levels menu - Placing Doors and Keys will now unverify the level from being published. - Fixed some player particles not rendering properly In 1.7.3, I think I'll work on hats, language support and maybe some additional support for workshop. Thank you :)

Oh and also, prepare for 2022, and save up those god damn credits!
SEPTEMBER TCC EVENT
According to the poll I did 3 days ago, you guys wanted a Skin Making Event, so here we are. In this event, try to create a skin for The Colorful Creature Rules are simple: - You can do concept art or pixel art - Don't do ideas that are already in the game - If you wish to upload a reddie with a hat, you can do that but it will count as a hat more than a skin - Don't post anything else that is innapropriate - You can post multiple submissions if you want! Top submissions will have their skin in the game. To join just go to this discord server and read #announcements or #tournament-announcements for more information. Event ends in 25th September. Have fun!
Before we start:
I wanna thank donators and supporters, friends and family for making TCC still in development. Without your help, the game would never be on Steam, so I am very happy you guys keep supporting the game. Let's hope to reach more newer players as the time goes on, and I'll try keep making awesome updates like these. The reason why this change log took so long is because I haven't wrote it up until now! Oh yeah, you are here for the changelog, well look no further! If you want to see the 3rd Year Anniversary Special, click here. One final thing, I will stop posting stuff on google documents, because I want to fully support the steam version. Here we go.
Features in Beta 1.7:
Main Menu:
- Updated Title Screen - Added new graphics on buttons, instead of being drawn as a image, now they are being drawn by code, they can now support multiple languages, text scaling, multiple colors, different types (locked/unlocked) and more! - Added 100+ more splashtexts.
Achievements Menu:
- The Achievement Menu got an overhaul - Added "Show Achievement Page" Button - You cannot get steam achievements with cheats on. - Things that the new achievements have: 1. Secret Achievements Functionality Available! - Added 77 New Achievements, 100 of which are Steam Achievements (will add more in the near future pls steam increase limit), and in total there are 117 Achievements in the game. - All old achievements have been ported.
Settings Menu:
- Made title text animated in most menus (Previously it was only on the Title Screen) - Added "Show Object Number" which is a special Level Editor setting which shows how many objects have been placed in the Level Editor. - Added Casual Mode, casual mode is by default enabled in settings and it basically adds checkpoints to the game. When a checkpoint is reached, you'll respawn there when you die. Casual Mode while it changes the difficulty does not affect progress, so its not really a cheat but rather an accessibility feature. - Added "Auto-Thumbnail" which makes a thumbnail of the Level Editor level automatically from time to time. Disable if you want to make custom thumbnails. - Added "Old Gravity/Speed Numbers" setting which brings back the old sprites of gravity and speed items. Useful if arrows confuse you too much. - You can now enable immunity mode cheat without having to grind for every single skin - Added "No-Clip" cheat, reddie abuses all laws of physics and passes through blocks. Move by going left and right and ascend and descend by "jumping" and "interacting" - If you enable any cheat, the game cannot save stats, challenge time and deaths, main game, and achievements. You have to restart the game to have them save again. - Added "Berserk" cheat which kills all troops and bosses. - Updated Existing Settings - Grayscale Colorblind Improved
Support For Languages:
- Added 5 Languages in the Languages category in Settings: English German French Italian And Spanish
y is it 2 slow??1?:
Languages are right now very primitive and needs time and effort (to understand why, it is because of this). Luckily I have a team of translators helping me and that will hopefully improve the quality of the game in other languages. In the future 1.7.X versions you will see more support from these languages, mainly starting with German and then the rest. And of course more will come on their way! - Right now one of the things translated for all languages are statistics, some of the title text and buttons,
Statistics:
Semi-Overhaul to stats screen, stuff is in more color and more viewable, new stats that tracks specific deaths:
Block Deaths Restart Deaths Spike Deaths Invisible Spike Deaths Vertical Moving Spike Deaths Horizontal Moving Spike Deaths Golden Spike Deaths Weird Spike Deaths Void Deaths Set on Fire Lava Deaths Bullet Deaths Rocket Deaths Troop Deaths Drowned - Added Double Jump Pickups Stat - Updated Various Stats (Like skin, hat stats etc) - Added more ranks.
Story Mode:
- Added 2 brand new bosses. - New secrets and levels. - Changed certain bad levels from previous versions. - Hat Merchant has new dialog. - Hat Merchant has more hats to sell. - Changed Boss songs (For DMCA Reasons, Nintendon't) - Added new backgrounds in some levels - Coin Converter can now give maximum 300 credits instead of 250, with the following formula: Old Formula: Credits = Coins * (2+(Coins * 0.005)) New Formula: Credits = Coins * (2+(Coins * 0.01))
Hard Mode:
- Balanced Eternal Suffering Difficulty a bit. - New Levels have more hazards. - New Bosses are buffed compared to Main Game in some way or another. - Moreover, not much changed.
Blocks, Items, Level Editor:
- Added Double Jump Item, when collected, it lets you jump mid air. Cannot be stacked but when the second jump is used it can be reused again if the same item is collected once more. - Added invisible variants of red, yellow, green, blue and white blocks. They work pretty much how invisible blocks work. - Updated Sprites for ammo and infinite ammo. - Added Checkpoints (Functionality Mentioned Above) - Added Button Pages in Level Editor, so you can do more stuff in your levels. - It's now possible to make custom music for your levels, for more information click here. - Added Background Changer in Level Editor, you can now add backgrounds (not to be confused with block backgrounds). - Add Star Direction Changer in Level Editor, you can rotate star direction at any angle you wish! - Added Medal Config in Level Editor, you can configure Diamond Medal time and other Medals will copy the time of the diamond medal: Diamond Medal = Chosen Time Gold Medal = Diamond * 1.1 Silver Medal = Gold * 1.2 Bronze Medal = Silver * 1.3 - Rocket Cannons and Cannons can now snap onto the celling. - Added Thumbnail Button in Level Editor. Take a quick pic ;) - Added Publish in Level Editor. Publish your own levels in Steam Workshop.
Workshop:
While there is support for uploading and downloading levels, there is no way to play levels officially yet. So if you want to play custom levels please wait for few updates so we can add this feature :)
In order to publish your level in the Steam Workshop, you need to: 1. Be connected to steam on a legit copy of your game 2. The level must have a player and a door placed 3. Complete the Level 4. Have cheats disabled 5. Diamond Medal Time must be the same or higher than your level completion time. - Once you successfully pass the requirements, you need to read TCC Workshop Rules and accept the Steam Subscriber Agreement. But regardless, if you are a bad little boy, you can just join here.
Fun Mode:
- Added ??????? and online leaderboards buttons in Fun Mode (both WIP) - Added 3 new challenges (One more is coming in Beta 1.7.1) Challenges are Double Jump, Corrupted Spike and [strike]W-#3?#?7 [/strike]Challenges. - 6 New skins (Will add more is coming in Beta 1.7.1) - 8 New Hats (Will add more is coming in Beta 1.7.1) - Added new skins and hats in local multiplayer
Other:
- The code uses more switch/cases, allowing for more performance. - Made certain fonts ASCII to support symbols in common languages. - You can now press F12 to take a screenshot in game, the image with automatically have a name based on a date and will appear in Local Files - If Beta 1.6 and prior was played, the game would create new folders in Local Files and move the save files in them, that way it is now way safer to load old versions of the game without the game's save files being corrupted! - These folders are Custom, Save Files, Screenshots - Added new discord rich presence stuff - Changed how collision works with colored blocks (may be bugs) - Made the hat merchant less hardcoded and more workable - Stars support full 360 degree rotation - Changed how medals work in challenges menu. - Changed how selecting skins and hats works in Customization Menu - The credits counter now has a black rectangle behind the balance

Features:
- Changed Maingame Levels - Made D.Jump-L9 Easier.

The Steam Version is Coming Soon!
Hello everyone, this announcement is just to remind everyone that we're releasing the game as early access ON 1ST SEPTEMBER! We want to thank the TCC Team and other testers for participating in this update. If you don't know the current version of the game is Beta 1.7 and it has been in works for over 4 months! Surely without their help the update would probably suffer more than it is now. In truth, there are stuff that have to and will be done in future patches, because I want to expand Beta 1.7 even more, but I am confident that the current build of the game is solid enough to be available for purchase. On the day of release there's going to be a HUGE change log showcasing what's new in the update. If you are curious about Beta 1.6 Changelog you can click it HERE. And finally, thanks everyone for 150 wishlists, you guys rock!
TCC Giveaway!
I've decided to launch a giveaway which you can enter in the official TCC Discord Server: https://discord.gg/BpzkuDu96a
We'll be giving one key away and the winner is randomly chosen. Read instructions in #announcements to know more about it.
So join and have chance to get the game for free! The giveaway lasts until 3rd September so hurry!
July 2021 TCC News!
Hello everyone, it's about time that I'll finally show you guys one of the things I've been working on July, and there are even things that I planned on doing in beta 1.8 but were added in this version instead!
Before we get started, reminder that the game will most likely come out in September!, so keep an eye out!
Level Editor Improvements
During June and especially July I was working on the Level Editor, if you don't know the Level Editor in the game let's you create levels however you like! And the goal of this tool is to make it as close to make main-game levels as possible, and I think it's pretty close at doing that.
If you've played the free version of the game, you might've noticed quite a bit of new things, and you would be correct.
When you load the level editor, you'll first notice these "arrows", those are button pages (very creative name) and they let you go through the tools that the Level Editor offers!
Button Pages not only let me add more tools, but they also fixed the problem where I don't have to clump everything together in one bar.
In the second page, the first button is a background changer, it lets you change between backgrounds (just like how you change music).
The second button lets you change the angle direction of the stars at any angles, I had to rewrite star functionality to be able to do to that.
The third button lets you change diamond medal time. And finally, the fourth button lets you publish your level to the Steam Workshop!
Steam Workshop Support
That's right! We're adding Steam Workshop to The Colorful Creature, which is crazy because I wasn't planning on doing it in the first place, nobody asked me to do it in the first place, yet I did it and here I am. If you think I'm lying, just check the workshop itself.
So how does it work? Well before you can publish your level, you have to do the following things:
- Be connected on Steam and have it's API enabled.
- Have the player and the door placed.
- Don't make a change of the level after you've beaten it.
- Have diamond time be higher or the same than the time you completed the level.
- The level has to have a name.
- Cheats must be disabled.
Once you've fulfilled all of these requirements, you're now ready to publish!
Before publishing, you have to read the rules and agree to the Steam Subscriber Agreement (For Legal Reasons).
If you've done everything correctly, your level will be published, and visible within the next minute! Congratulations for contributing in the future of gaming!
Custom Levels Menu
Custom Levels is a way to play your own Local Level Editor levels and your online Workshop levels. You basically click "Play Custom Levels", and you will immediately have a list of levels that you subscribed to and ready to play!
Achievement Menu Overhaul
In July I've overhauled the entire achievements menu, which brought confusion, was hard to work with, and it had tons of issues. So I've changed the entire look by adding a achievement icon, better progress bar, better title and description, and so on!
Thank You!
Well that's all for this month, see ya next month for the early access release of the game!
Make sure you guys wishlist the game on steam!
NEW 2021 JULY EVENT

The Steam Version is 40% Done
That's right! Beta 1.7 version is almost half way done. Since the Steam Version is not out yet, I do not feel like revealing stuff I've done. What I can say is that progress is going pretty smoothly and I might update the store page again so I can add new screenshots and etc. Also I was working on steam achievements lately so it will be fun getting some of those :)
The Game Has Almost 100 Wishlists and 7K Store Page Visits!

NEW TCC EVENT
We've heard your struggles on the Blind Challenge last month, so we'll make it a bit easier: Beat the ladder challenge as fast as possible! If you are clueless where to find the challenge, from the title screen, click start, then fun mode and then challenges. Since the game is now on steam, but not publicly available for purchase yet, we will allow both beta 1.6 and beta 1.7 versions to be submitted. If you want to participate, join this discord server and see how you can submit your run: https://discord.gg/FzGYX44 The event lasts from 10th June to 25th June, good luck!

Wishlist Release!
I am very honored to finally, after 1000 days of development, say that I got the game on Steam. This was highly requested from people who enjoyed playing the game, and I am so happy that I got to make this my first commercial game ever. This is a huge achievement for me. I wanna thank the TCC Team for playtesting the dev versions of the game, dha and monst2r for their incredible performances with speedrunning the game, and pretty much everyone else playing the game!
So, Beta 1.7, what's the difference?
I think it's about time to say what we are planning for the steam version of the game, I'm going to go over to the most important to the least important:
Main Game
If you've "beaten" the game in the previous versions, in "The End" screen it says that the game isn't finished, which is true. We want to finish the main game, by adding the fourth and fifth boss, and adding something very surprising at the end. You'll have to see what though! Not only that but some levels will have changes or complete overhauls, and also, there'll be fun little easter eggs!
Improved Graphics
We plan adding graphical changes both to the game and main menu. Buttons will look super polished, graphically the game will have more backgrounds and particles. HUD will also have updated graphics and will hide this time if you are behind the HUD, as a quality of life improvement. Speaking of blocks, we don't plan changing the look of them, but I hope that I can add more variants to blocks, for example, bricks, but we will wait and see!
Online Leaderboards
For challenges we plan adding online leaderboards, finally you'll be able to compete with players. The best players need to have the best time in order to get to the top!
Steam Achievements
We're adding steam achievements in unique icons. And we are also porting the in-game achievements as Steam Achievements, and to top it all off, the Achievement Menu will look less confusing and make more sense! If you happen to unlock achievements in the previous versions they will be unlocked on Steam immediately as soon as you firstly launch the game.
Level Editor Improvements
We plan adding a way to select items without having to scroll with your mouse (but you can still do it). We'll add an item menu which just let's you pick blocks and items without having to find it yourself. For selecting music, there'll be a menu for choosing music instead of repeatedly clicking the music button, and for loading levels, we plan adding a list of saved levels that are in Local Files. There is going to be a way to set the "diamond time" for each level, and finally we will also add a secondary way to try level editor levels, which is:
Custom Levels
In Fun Mode, you will be able to just play a user made level without opening the level editor and playing it there. We hope to also add workshop support but that probably won't come immediately when the game's available to purchase.
New Skins and Hats
You will be able to customize your player further, by adding an entire page of skins and hats. Also, something is up with the Hat Merchant...
New Challenges
When the game is available, there will be 5 new challenges to play. Which also have Beta 1.7 items and unlockable skins. Speaking of items...
Double Jump Item
A double jump item is going to be added in the game. When Reddie collects this item it lets Reddie jump mid air. This item does not stack.
Improved Statistics
You'll be able to see more statistics in the main menu! Mainly the deaths will be tracked.
Endless Run
All endless run playthroughs should be more random since we are adding more levels, also, custom endless run will have a way to save a preset of settings, and share it to somebody who wants to try your challenge out. There will be a way to setup how much levels you need to beat to "complete" it, and there will be difficulty settings if you want the difficulty system to be enabled or not, if you want it enabled you can set the starting difficulty.
And more!
Remember that this is only Beta 1.7, there's more to come such as THE CALENDAR, new levels new skins new hats new challenges new endless run content new items coop mode for mulitplauyer new blocks ok bye thanks wishlist yes
