🍄Explore a tiny world of traditional animation & nature photography.🌲

Tala and the Flower Seed is a short 5-10 minute supplemental game to the currently in development Tala. After finding a seed out in the woods, take control of Tala and get the townsfolk's help in making it grow.  This is a short standalone teaser game where you get to explore a very small section of the opening chapter of the game, interact with a couple of the townsfolk, and get a feel of the atmosphere of the game.

This was largely built as a proof-of-concept to see if Tala is actually possible for me to make, and to the quality that I want to make it to, and the proof-of-concept was largely successful! So the teaser isn't that in-depth, but it successfully shows off the tone and the core features of the game.

  • A gorgeous art style that combines traditional animation techniques and nature photography.
  • Nonverbal dialog system; Tala is a wordless experience. All of the conversations that you have with the townsfolk are completely visual.
  • Interactive Environment; The game is about play as much as it's about exploration. Click on things in the environment and they'll animate! (Mostly in the Bakery scene in the demo, but the full release will have far more)

Follow the development on Twitter.

The photography was all taken by me in national parks across Victoria, and weird little spots of nature around the suburbs of Melbourne. Some of it has been up mountains, from within fern gullies, & a cool looking log near a school.  Some of the national parks include Wilson's Promontory, The Grampians and the Dandenong Ranges

The photography, animation, game design & development were all done by me, Matthew Petrak, from sounds  were sourced online from a variety of places, and the music is by Cody Rueger
