Gavril comes and goes like birds, sure to fly home. Yet home—the briny stains of his childhood—had never been a good place to be. After stealing a pheasant from an estate he shelters at a bothy in the middle of the forest and is soon crossed by a burdened baker looking for a better life. At first her companionship is not unwelcomed, but a hunger of old falls upon him, and the sea of his past pushes him deeper into its comforting abyss.
