Post Overview

Apocalypse has been split into the 2.0 edition and the legacy edition, this change is to help satisfy players of both game versions. Along with this we'll be releasing the 2.x update with many additions!

Steam Changes

If you play the 2.0 edition (built in unreal, version 2.x), the game will only be playable from the new store page, this helps up keep the game supported and helps future players understand all of the content. If you currently play the legacy edition (built in unity, version 1.x), this update will simply make launching the game faster and more efficient, however you won't have any continued support.

Marketing and 0.1.1.7.a

Update Overview

This update focuses on preparing apocalypse for a final release later this week and adds the final couple of fixes and additions. I've also started dedicating much more time to marketing and reaching out to curators and steam users for honest opinions on the final build. Full details are shown below:

Available Platforms

Here's the current platforms the update is available on: Windows 32 & 64 Bit (Available Now) Linux 32 & 64 Bit (Available Now) Mac 32 & 64 Bit (Available Now)

Changelog - General

Replaced the in-game configurations for a final release Replaced the cut development content with finished content Replaced all the main menu buttons with more sensible text Made the starting up experience much cleaner and easier to understand

Marketing

There's a focus at the moment to get an honest opinion on the updates over the past year, because there was a 'gap' in the steam reviews. This won't be a huge change, but it'll give new players a better grasp on what the content will look like after the small purchase. If you feel like you're an online influencer and would be interested in this, don't hesitate to reach out to me via steam.
As usual, I'll be active on the community all the time, so If there's anything else you want me to add or fix, let me know in the comments, on twitter, the website, or email! Harley Game Studios

Plans for leaving Early Access!

Post Overview

There's now plans for apocalypse leaving Early Access, which will take place next month! There'll be some large changes as a result of this decision, including the price, the story mode, and the support. However all these changes have been fully detailed below. Feel free to send me any thoughts.

All Changes

Firstly, there'll be a permanent price reduction. This project will no longer need funding which is why the choice has been made, this applys to every platform. It'll roughly be a 40% to 60% drop in price. Next, the community has sent in a large amount of feedback regarding the story mode, and the majority of players are more interested in the wave based areas of apocalypse. Because of this, the story mode is being removed and will be treated as a tutorial, and will have a smaller button in the main menu instead. Along with this, there will be the addition of a custom map option. Finally, in regards to the support, I'll be carrying on with apocalypse. The effort in the development will go towards fixing issues that are present though. Such as bugs, crashes, community posts, etc.

The Next Update

I'll be keeping the story content I've already designed and adapting it into a game intro for new players. The new custom mission option can be used to create a custom amount of zombies and wave sizes on any map, with a custom amount of weapons selected too. This decision was made to both adapt to the community's feedback, and to speed up the release. As usual, I'll be active on the community all the time, so If there's anything else you want me to add or fix, let me know in the comments, on twitter, the website, or email! Harley Game Studios

Demo Available

Post Overview

I've been quiet with what I've been working on for some time, but it's definetly worth it in the long term! Apocalypse's private testers are impressed with the hundreds of changes so far. Furthermore, there's been several game changing decisions that have been made to improve our players gameplay experience, all the decisions are based from the recent reviews and feedback we'be recieved. Over the next month, I'll be going through everything in the update in detail. First though, I'll be releasing a free steam demo for all our platforms to try out, with a full survival map included, all details below!

Apocalypse's Demo

Starting today, there'll be an apocalypse demo ready to download, it'll be available to everyone free of charge, and will include the main menu, and one large exterior outcast map. This is taken from the upcoming 0.1.1.6.a steam update. This was a very big choice and I'm looking forward to the communitys response, there's been tens of thousands of views on our steam page, but some still seem unconvinced, so this change will hopefully give them a bigger picture on what apocalypse will actually be after purchasing in early access. Edit - It doesn't seem that steam allows you to play the demo alongside the actual game if it's already purchased in your library. My apologies for mentioning to download it as a preview for the next update. Many Thanks, Harley Game Studios

Campaign Screenshots!

Overview

Since the last update, I've been dedicating all of my time towards the anticipated campaign mode, and as a result, I've now finished the prologue completely. I'm now working on chapter 1, and working on a overhaul for the sandbox mode. I'm hoping to release this update commercially soon, for reference on how big this update is compared to the last few, so far I've made just over 60 changes and additions!

Voice Actors

I'm also looking for two voice actors, one male and one female, both young adults preferably. If you've played the current update you'll know the character names from the selection screen, the female character is Jade, and the male character is Able. There's little lines for each, so if your interested get in touch (Steam, Website, Comments, etc), I'm not too bothered about you having experience, just recording equipment, you'll get a place on both the store page and intro (18+).

Story - Lore / Intro

Story - Intro Corridor

Story - Intro Lab

Story - Lab Room 1

Story - Lab Room 2

Story - Lab Room 3

Story - Morgue Elevator

Story - Morgue Room

Story - Final Cut Scene

A Huge Thanks...

Post Overview

It's been a few weeks since I last made a steam post, so I just wanted to update everyone on apocalypse's development, and I wanted to say a few personal words too, check it out below.

Latest Progress

The upcoming 0.1.1.5.a update has been finished, has passed testing, and will be released over the weekend. I was going to be focusing on the story mode primarily for this update, however after reading the most recent messages, reviews and comments, I decided to go through everything and make sure the rest of the game is ready first. Therefore, you'll be happy to know the update will be adding much needed loading screens, a full graphics menu, animated intro logos, more optimization, additional vulken support, a brightness slider, a music slider, an in-game news feed, and more!

A Huge Thanks

I also wanted to say a huge thanks to the gaming community. The support I'm getting from everyone is incredible and I wouldn't of got this far if it wasn't for the apocalypse's fans. It's very unusual for a solo project like this one to reach this scale, it's a big achievement to reach 3 thousand players, and to continue growing. I appreciate every message and post made, the development for apocalypse has been a long journey, but I'm getting closer and closer towards a final release every day. To say thanks to everyone, I'm giving away 100 apocalypse keys completely free to random community members, just send over a message, comment, or tweet to my official account. It'll be first come, first served, so if you're one of the first 100, I'll send you a free steam key to redeem! Harley Game Studios

Update Details

Overview

The upcoming 0.1.1.4.c update we've been posting about for the past few weeks is finished and being uploaded very soon, it'll be available this week commercially! This is complete with the new building system, modding support, optimization, bug fixes, and much more.

Mac and Linux Users

This was finished last week and it'll be released in the 0.1.1.4.d update after it's been completely tested, publicly available on Steam after February the 15th! This won't affect our roadmap or development time, and we'll make sure every update's release is simultaneous.

Questions

As usual, we'll be posting more soon, If there's any questions, we'll be glad to talk through either Twitter, Steam, or our website, so don't hesitate to contact us. Thanks! Harley Game Studios

New Campaign

Since the release we've had a huge amount of people asking us about the campaign mode, why it wasn't included in the steam version, and why the documents for it have still been available. Here's a post with a full explanation and details of what's happening with the apocalypse's campaign mode. As our longer lasting community members know, we had a large campaign mode in all the updates available to testers before 0.1.1.3 (the release version). Basically, all the characters models, textures, the motion capture data, and the voices for all of the characters were finished. We'd also finished the prologue content, and the chapter 1 content, the vehicles, the first and second map, two large interior maps, and much more. You can see this from the footage on the trailers, and a few screenshots from our website. However, all the updates after 0.1.1.3 have been completely different in regards to the campaign, which couldn't be considered a campaign due the lack of everything mentioned above, and more. This is why some community members have posted on the forums with negative comments aimed towards us, only to change the posts themselves and apologize to us. This is all due to a few weeks prior to the release, our official apocalypse writer had a few unfortunate problems last minute, which led to us losing all contact. I must mention, that he wasn't to blame for this, I can't disclose more though due to privacy reasons. However, because we lost contact for this long, the developer couldn't finish the work, and we had to cut everything made related to the campaign and replace it with a tutorial style experience instead. We couldn't include a feature half-finished, as this was an issue with valve and the release guidelines, which is why we didn't leave the content as-is. We now know what happened from his end because he reached out to us recently and told us what had happened, and that he will now resume his work. This means that we'll slowly begin re-adding all the content which was cut. We've always kept the documents available to the public since he created them months ago, for those that were unaware, you can access them by opening the correct .ap files included in the downloaded game folder with microsoft word. So as an overview, the campaign mode that was available prior to the 0.1.1.3 is now slowly being re-added, and kept updated by the official apocalypse writer! If there's any questions, let us know!

  • Overview

Apocalypse is the upcoming survival built entirely by one developer, with a growing community, the apocalypse focuses on singleplayer apocalyptic survival, with all of the latest graphics technologies integrated together such as Physx 3, Unity 2017.2, Directx 12, and Vulkan API. Built and funded by the community! The final release will feature a fully voiced campaign which follows the life of a survivor, struggling to fight alongside the few established factions left, in one immersive first person shooter experience.

    Early Access

While we're in Early Access we'll be letting the community download and test the apocalypse from our website and Steam. After playing you can head to this page, our twitter, or our website and give us feedback, submit any bugs, and suggest more features that you'd like to see in a future update. Many of the apocalypse's features have been integrated thanks to the community's feedback, such as the building system, vulken support, and the factions within the campaign. Before purchasing or downloading, please check the disclaimer below.

    Environments

Since the start of the apocalypse's development, we've been developing immersive environments inside the apocalypse. All of the environments have been hand-crafted with realistic props and buildings with constant updates to the visuals and shaders to polish the overall appearance. Built so that you can scavenge items, craft shelter and build structures. You have to fight the constant need to eat, drink and find clean air. Finding these resources is the key to survival.

    Drivable Vehicles

When exploring the apocalypse, there's vehicles that you'll come across which can be used, this helps you reach new areas and protect yourself, you'll need to be cautious as you'll only have a certain amount of fuel and you will have to repair any damages. These will be added over time, from simple street cars, to trucks, armed vehicles, military choppers, and more. On the early access release, there'll be trucks included.

    Development Team

We're a small development group, with only one developer and one publisher, we design, publish and sell indie games. Previously we've made three game titles, two of which are in development. We've been running since January 2014 and all of our team are dedicated to making high quality products on different platforms and marketplaces, we started with several game ideas and have evolved since since then with more then two thousand community members and more then 500 early access downloads. We're glad to finally make a Steam release and we plan to keep supporting the apocalypse. Here's a quick mention to everyone who deserves credit from what we've achieved so far:

    • Harley Dolton (Developer)
    • Albertino Robelló (Marketing)
    • David Lee (Factions)
    • Unity Technologies (Game Engine)
    • Opsive Industries (Assets)
    • Vision Punk (Assets)
    • Microsoft (DirectX)
    • Nvidia (Graphics)
    • Khronos (Vulkan API)

    Disclaimer

We just wanted to post a disclaimer here for a few features that were in our trailers on the front page, as they could be misinterpreted as something different.

Firstly, the second and third trailer showcase Virtual Reality support, this is currently experimental and the launch will only support OSVR, which will then be updated to support further headsets in the future. Such as OpenVR, SteamVR, etc.

Secondly, all the headsets we do support will have their own steam page and will be listed as free DLC which is downloadable after purchasing the base game. This helps people play the game completely separately to vr users. So to use the current OSVR support, you need to install the free DLC available from the main store page, then the OSVR option will be available on steam.

Lastly, the Linux and Mac support have been delayed, which is why the steam page no longer shows these as being available. This will be very little time though.
