Hi everyone, We are happy to share that its been 5 years since our title Niffelheim was shipped to Early Access on Steam. Weve been together through quite a lot: theres been a lot of work on game improvement, a lot of bug fixing, and more! Theres a reason why there are over 40K members in our Steam group, after all. Wed like to celebrate this milestone with a game update ( ver. 1.0.12) and announce a few more updates on Steam and other platforms. Its been a while since we got in touch, but theres a reason: weve been busy with the mobile version for Niffelheim. The game will be released on iPhone and iPad as early as 18th May and is already available for preorders. Other mobile devices are in QA right now, and were not ready to share the release dates on other platforms yet. Apart from the current game update, we are planning to work on the initial quests and game balance during this year. Were also working on a new NPC. More insight on the current 1.0.12 update - Healthbars of mobs are displayed over their heads - increased visibility. - Mobs and characters are highlighted when getting hit. - Increased (x2) Satiety from all types of food. - Decreased Satiety spent when digging and cutting trees. - Improved Inventory full message. - Fixed the issue with an invisible enemy when playing against AI. - Games scenes are slightly increased to improve interaction with items. - Achievements Access denied! and Conqueror has been deleted due to being too challenging. The Bloody Moon DLC features a long night, a red moon and lots and lots of spiders and skeletons. No hens or hares, its just you and your dragon - lets set everything on fire!
DLC features:
1. Players have a dragon from the very start
2. No quests
3. No farms
4. Only a wooden castle that you can set on fire using your dragon!
5. No bots
6. The day is 4 hours long, whereas the night is 20 hours long
7. A lot less vegetation, all the trees are dry
8. All workshops fully deployed
9. No character development, just a handful of weapons
10. Spiders can poison you and skeletons can injure you
11. The dungeons are smaller, but there are still enough resources
12. Your castle gets assaulted 100% more often and there are only 1 chest and no vault!
13. The dragon burns everything except for mushrooms!
14. The city is closed and you cannot enter! Theres nothing to do there!
15. Spiders and skeletons run amok at night
16. Characters have abilities as default
Warrior - Frugality 75%,
Valkyrie - Laborer 75%,
Berserk - StunBlockChance 75%,
Shaman - PoisonBlockChance 75%
Finally, you can only get to Asgard if you burn everything!

as promised before, today is the day we release update 1.0.10 AKA Jotuns. As you can guess from the update title, we have new bosses! But before disclosing more details about what's new in this big free update, Id like to focus on some other game news first.
First of all: Niffelheim (single player mode only) was released on 20th September (a few days ago) on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch platforms. Over the past six months, we have been working on game balancing and porting to these consoles. So now feel free to congratulate us and play the game on your console. The console release includes the latest update by default.
Also, thanks to the active member of the Niffelheim community Brechler Zsolt, the game is fully translated into Hungarian. Kudos to Brechler for his work and support!

would like to say that Update 1.0.10.001 is coming on Steam on 23rd September.
Weapon, armor and tools repair mechanics, new items, new crafts, new balance, and others will be included in this update. And of course - Jotuns!
All these things also included in console version at XboxOne, PS4 and Nintendo Switch on 20th September.

Its been a while since weve shown ourselves, but its finally time for a news update.
Firstly, dont miss the chance to purchase the game with 70% off - thats the highest discount in history.
Secondly, were proud to announce the release of the game for Xbox One, PS4 and Switch on September the 20th.
Thirdly, we have updated the game and there are a few more updated coming up.
Now lets focus on the features of version 1.0.009.1-3:
1. When a character is resurrected, they are invulnerable for 6 seconds, which should be enough time to get away from the surrounding enemies.
2. There are new fixes for gamepad control and pop-up hints. From now on the hints will be displayed no matter what device you are using - the keyboard or the controller.
What is planned for the next updates:
Improving the store feature, including the controls. New items will be unlocked as you keep playing the game.
Repairing weapons, equipment, and tools. There will be new items that will restore the durability of currently equipped items.
New balance for mobs and weapons.
All this and more will be introduced in the new updates, we are going to keep you updated on the course of development.
Also, we are currently working on a prototype for a new game - more news soon to come!

Weve been working on a few large updates for Niffelheim in the last months.
And I am excited to finally share the news with you.

1. Animations
First Id like to tell you that we
have unified and improved animations for each character individually. Check out
the new trailer to see some of these.
2. Satiety.
We have improved the satiety balance for each
character, so you wont starve that often from now on. Let the heroes stomachs
be full! )
3. Hints
Weve added in-game hints for various
actions: collection, attack, gathering etc. Now the gameplay is going to be
even more comfortable, especially if you are using a gamepad. You can always
disable hints in the games settings.
4. Mobs
Another thing we focused on was the
distribution of mobs across dungeons and now its more interesting to hunt a
certain boss or mob. Mines are now inhabited by various undead mobs, the left
dungeon by trolls and skeletons, and the right dungeon by spiders. We have
also improved stats and loot for the mobs.
We are going to support and improve the game further; we are reading all
your feedback and really appreciate the interest and support you are showing
for our game. At the time we are also porting the PC version of the game to Nintendo
Switch, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 platforms. The games release on consoles in
scheduled for this spring.

congratulations to you all with the Autumn Sale on Steam. Weve decided to celebrate this great even as well and prepared for you a bundle of games drawn by our artist Eduard Arutyunyan. It includes two games of different genre but with a somewhat similar visual stylistics: The Tiny Bang Story and Niffelheim.
Im sure many of you are already familiar with The Tiny Bang Story - a great looking game with a unique atmosphere. It was released on Steam as early as in 2011 and still keeps bringing joy to players to this very day. Thanks to this game we are able to continue our work and develop new interesting projects!
Ill soon be back with more news on Niffelheim and our latest plans. We are working hard on the game and preparing a new update! And Im sure you will be very pleased with some of our news! But well get back to that in due time!

here new patch with new engine version.
So,
1. The game moved to Unity 2018.2 (we tested it also and everything working now). I hope it will fix some issues with a new type of videocards also.
2. We fixed muiltiplayer bug, when players changed scene together and the game crashed, so this issues fixed.
3. We increased chance for seeds
we are working on balance issues, and looking at any suggestions from you)
next update will be soon, with new language support (we adding Turkish) and with some new fixes in multiplayer.

last days we worked to move the game from Unity 5.6 to Unity 2018.2.
So, now we created the beta branch named unity2018 and we are asking you to help us to test it and say if you will see something wrong! anything
Also, we had issues with GTX 1060-1080, so if someone has this device and can test it, it will be great.

We are starting a series of patches of the release build.
So this week we have fixes and balance changes:
1. Gamepad controls in menu fixed
2. German, Italian, Japanese localization issues fixed
3.Extra recipe was removed from the kitchen
4. Fixed a bug with the disappearance of your inventory. If the bug will be repeated again, please write us, but in the event of such a bug, your inventory will be full as well.
5. Characteristics of some potions and amulets were updated.

After two years since release through Steam Early Access, finally, the long-awaited official release is there!
During the time in Early Access, we’ve implemented and added a lot of features that were promised. We also considered feedback from you - the players who bought the game in Early Access - and added some things based on your suggestions. Some things we found quite challenging, some things we are going to develop further in the future and something turned out even more fun than expected.
Those who followed the game and the development process, already have an idea of what has been implemented in the game. And for the rest of you out there, I'll try to briefly describe the main changes.
1. We updated the game engine, including multiplayer, so that Chinese players could play.
2. We added new characters and accelerated many animations, and also improved the character control, automating many actions.
3. We developed a fully new interface, made it completely modern and convenient. This was also required to implement the next feature number 4.
4. We have implemented a full controller support for all couch potatoes out there!
5. We changed many mechanics, adding survival and castle assaults with plundering, but now even is you were robbed, you still see everything that is going on in your world on the screen.
6. We added new visual effects: blood, fire and other.
7. We wrote a story and added some NPCs.
8. We added new bosses and mobs. Any scary!
9. Finally, in the release version, we are introducing the remaining two lands - the land of the Eagle and the Dragon. I hope you appreciate the beauty of these locations.
10. We added Korean localization to the game!
Oh, almost forgot - there are 5 new achievements for those of you who like to achieve things :)
I’ve mentioned the main points, the ones I was able to remember from the top of my head. Naturally, there were much more tasks and the solutions were sometimes quite challenging. 1. Fixed bugs related to the controlling of the character.
2. If you shoot an arrow, then its damage will be counted. regardless if the animation was interrupted
3. Additional damage to buildings is taken into final damage count.
4. If the resource collection animation is interrupted, the resource will still be collected.
5. fixed controller issues when you crafting workshops and chests.
6. If you are killed on the throne, then you will die for sure :)
7. Fixed bugs with loot some new items. now do not disappear
8. Fixed bug with moving the portal fragment in the chests.
9. Now the porcupines in trophies is taken into account
10. Fixed bugs in the Diplomacy tab.
11. the sensitivity of the controller is improved
12. Added more information about the weapons of the towers.

Today we have two great news.
First of all, we are proud to let you know that the game OST is now available for all Early Access Niffelheim players for free! Second of all, for all players we are offering a 50% discount on a game by our friends - Craft the World . And vice versa, all Craft the World players receive a coupon with 50% off on Niffelheim.
As promised before, any and all DLCs will be available for Early Access players for free. In the game installation folder, you’ll find 8 wonderful tracks to remind you of Niffelheim.
Check your Steam inventories (maybe you will have to re-login to Steam to receive the coupon). In the inventory you will find a discount coupon for Craft the World. In case you’ve already played the game, try out the multiplayer mode with your friends!
Once version 0.9.023 has been released, we’ve started preparations for game’s release. Very soon we will be able to name the exact date of the release. All that is left are a few enhancements and some optimization.

I’m pleased to inform you that the long-awaited Niffelheim version 0.9.023 is available in the Beta branch. I won’t go into detail on all changes made in the game. Full info will be published with the main version release.
Your old saves will not be included in the new version. But we will keep the 0.9.022 version branch for a while in case you would like to go back and finish the games you’ve already started.
To install Niffelheim version 0.9.023 you have to go to game options, open the Beta tab and choose the version 0.9.023 from the drop-down list. No password is required. Version 0.9.022 will also be available. Game loading will start right after choosing a branch.
This version will be released right after testing, if there are no critical bugs. The release is scheduled in a week.
Please do not worry about the localization. If you encounter any untranslated strings - bu sure that the texts are currently in translation.
This is a totally different game, there are a lot of changes. So I am going to open a separate topic in our forum where you can ask questions.

Lately we’ve been adding a lot of interesting and useful things to the game, so we just didn’t have any time to post about our progress. But we should not forget about news updates.
So, where were we last time? Oh yeah, I’ve told you about the new inventory (BTW, right now we’re finishing a neat feature - a beautiful display for when you equip an entire armor set)
And for now - a few words on the new chest features.
1. You can put everything in the chest and take everything out - this has been requested a lot by the community.
2. Quick transfer of a stack - using a single button (there will be a text hint displayed below).
3. You can take half a stack and put it away item by item.
4. You cannot use an item from the chest - you have to place the item in your bag first.
5. The chests in your workshiops will be available once you open any of them. You don’t have to run around the workshops in search of an item.
6. Items are sorted in the chest the same way as in your inventory.
As you can see, many of your requests and suggestions have been implemented for chests and inventories.
Currently we are working on the game window. And next time I’ll tell you about the diplomacy window, what will be displayed in there and how will it work.

I hope you all are having a great weekend. Today I am here with a few words about the latest changes to the store:
1. As you can see, now everything is displayed on a single screen, with your backpack on the left and the store on the right side of the screen.
2. The store initially displays random items - a little bit of everything.
3. The store, as well as store slots are refreshed every 5 days. You cannot sell anything until there is a free slot.
4. You have only the following options in the store:
- Purchase 1 item
- Purchase largest possible amount (use all the money available)
- Sell 1 item
- Sell a full stack
5. Dynamic tips are now displayed in the store window. The tip will not show up if you don’t have enough money for purchase. So the tips indicate actions that are actually available for the item or stack of items.

We’ve just returned from PAX East and back to work on a new update.
Today I am going to focus on the changes we’ve made to hero level up process.
Firstly, we’ve reduced the overall Professions number down to 7 by uniting The Carpenter and Blacksmith in a new Craftsman profession.
Secondly, now you don’t have to search through dungeons for sigil stones and activate those to level up. Hero progresses through levels automatically as you amass enough professional profession and gets bonuses on skill levels 3, 6 and 10.
We came up with a solution on hero control during PAX and we’re positive you are going to like it. More news about that coming up on Friday. As for now, our first priority is fixing bugs in the new GUI and wrapping up work on gamepad support and in-game tips.

I’m back with more info on new interfaces and what to expect in the next update.
Quests, ultimatums and stories will be displayed in a special fancy journal that you can access any time in the character window.
We’ve decided to store info on all completed quests.
Tutorial will appear here as well, so you can go back at any point and read some tips from developers:). There will be full-scale navigation via keyboard and mouse, as well as full gamepad support.
I’ll be back a bit later with more info on the tweaks and changes in the character development system.

I know that many of you are waiting for the next game update, since it’s been two months since the last update. First of all, I’d like you to know that we are working hard on the game. The next update will introduce a lot of changes, these are still in development. Here are a few words on what to expect.
First of all, I'll show you all playable characters coming in the next update! For now we are still polishing them and working on characters balance. As we mentioned before, there will be 4 characters: Viking, Valkyrie, Berserker and Shaman. The playable characters will differ in their specifications.
And as you may have noticed, we are working on a new interface. I hope you’ll like it :)
By the way, we will be attending PAX East in Boston this year, so if you are there, come visit us at the booth 24102 to say hello and play the beta version of our new update :)

It so happened that I had spend the last three weeks in hospital. And as long as I am the one responsible for testing and update release, we had to postpone the update. As you al know, Ellada Games is a small team and each member has a lot of responsibilities. But when something like that happens in your life it inevitably has an impact on the development process. please welcome a new update with some game play features.
First of all, a few words about the new features:
1. We're introducing ore types that you will be digging for under the ground. There are 6 types overall (coal, iron, copper, silver, titanium and gold) with different visual appearance and durability. The loot corresponds to ore type. So the gold mine will be the rarest and hardest. Building stones, salt and clay will drop out of a common rock.
2. The character will lose health near mob respawn points. So try not to spend too much time near the acid fog. These are the only places under the ground where the hero will lose health.
3. Right next to the underground entrance you'll find a chest. It's required to add a tutorial later on and you can store your first findings in it right away :)

a new update 0.9.017 is ready. Below is a list of changes, that are very important for the game ending introduction.
Changes and new features:
1. Player does not lose the game in case his castle is destroyed.
2. Having destroyed an enemy castle in multiplayer mode you can enter the castle and plunder chests. The vault is not available for player from other teams.
3. The vault no longer requires a pass code. The number of vault slots has been increased.
4. A team can only own a single land. You will no longer be able to buy more lands.
5. You won't be able to enter enemy mines and holes anymore; however the dungeons are still accessible.
6. After having activated the dragon, the temple is no longer accessible for you and your team.
7. If a land is empty (no AI or real players), there will be no Mine.
8. If an AI player destroys your castle, it's going to rob you a little bit :) However the items inside your vault will be safe.
9. You can plunder AI chests, something will be in there.
In a rule, if you are playing alone without AI opponents, your castle will only defend your farms from skeleton attacks.
Changes to bosses and dungeons system:
1. From now on hermit priests are always located in the first cave of your dungeon. You can easily find them. There is one priest per cave.
2. After killing a boss inside a cave you get a portal fragment to Asgard. Make sure to collect these. The Portal will soon be launched.
3. Bosses have a lot less health from now on, but their health will be increased with every portal fragment you get. This system may be also used in future with some mobs).
4. Bosses in a cave can change.
Changes to door system:
1. For now on the W key should be used to enter all doors.
2. Doors are pre-installed in dungeons, where digging is enabled.
3. You can craft doors at the Sawmill workshop.
4. You cannot dig a door using a Pick.
5. To install a door, craft it, then click RMB to place it.
6. From now on doors are also installed on the upper floors.
7. The door into the dungeon stand out now. Because a lot of people were having trouble locating the mine :)
8. All doors in the dungeon are equipped with a lamp.
Bugs
1. Fixed bug with the vault in multiplayer mode.
2. Fixed bug with irresponsive bosses.
3. Fixed bug with the "Complete 10 quests" achievement.
The Italian localization has been updated. Many thanks to our fan Emanuele Festuccia for help with text translation.
Currently we are working on diggable dungeons: some ground types will be harder to break, but you will be able to tell right away that there is gold in there. Also we are going to improve the flora and introduce drought as the Witch's curse, as well as some other tasks.
Next we are going to add the Beggar and the Raven for new story quests. After that we are going to activate the Portal and the Crypt. The dragon will be stored inside the Crypt. These are our main goals for the moment, and we are doing our best to implement all of these ASAP.

One important note before you begins to read about the new features! Not all features are visible at the moment and not all information is shown to you, but I would like to warn you that there will be some serious interface changes and players will get full info on events, player statuses, objectives etc. We will make sure that you will know about all events in the game. But our first priority is the core gameplay after that comes full interface remake and polishing.
Also is there is some unlocalized text – please don't worry. We guarantee full support of all 10 featured localization languages. Sometimes we try to amass some text volume to send it to translation rather than bug our translators with a few words. Our apologies and please don’t worry about that :)

Please welcome the new Niffelheim update 0.9.015 introducing the automated castle defense. We’ve implemented a previous community suggestion - now the castle towers attack enemies providing there is enough ammunition and weapons. Place a weapon in the top slot and ammunition in the lower slot.
To allow your tower to shoot at attacking and other aggressive mobs, the towers must be build and have over 90% health. If the castle health drops below 90% the towers cease fire.
You can use various weapons depending on the tower type.
Wooden Towers - Crossbow only.
Clay Towers - Crossbow and Ballista.
Stone Towers - Crossbow, Ballista or a Tower Mortar.
You’ll have to place weapons for each tower, as shown in the picture - both left and right towers, or else only the one equipped with everything required will shoot at the enemies.

here is another important update proposed by the gaming community - ver. 0.9.014
From now on the contents of all your workshop chests across all of your territories will be taken into account when crafting, constructing, in altars and in the temple. Also you won’t have to carry everything around with you to complete a quest. Simply put away all of your things in a warehouse and that’s it :)
The same works for the multiplayer mode. Every team has its own chests for collective use. You can easily delegate missions and help out your friends digging for treasures under the ground.
Improvements:
1. Available skill number is displayed in sigil tooltips.
2. When hovering over a trophy board you will see the trophy progress and the number of killed mobs (only for already obtained trophies).
Bug fixes:
1. Fixed issues with new slots in the store
2. Fixed the item drop next to the throne in workshops
3. Fixed the Shaman achievement

please welcome Niffelheim update ver. 0.9.013 - a highly important update we've been working on for the last month.
- The GUI on your screens will appear slightly increased or decreased in size, depending on your screen size. But now the GUI parts will surely not interfere
- Shields and traps now have a Durability stat. What does it mean? From now on if you are defending using a shield (using keyboard key C) you won't get any incoming damage, but your shield will be affected instead receiving the corresponding damage. Over the time the durability will be decreased and eventually shield will be destroyed and simply disappear.
- Durability of traps is reflected in the number of uses. The most durable trap allows 8 uses. The durability progress of an item is displayed in percentage in the top right corner of the slot.
- Controls in the Store have been altered. Item purchasing using the mouse has been simplified. Now when using LMB on buying you will get a single item at a time until there are no more items left in stack. Also you can sell everything by dropping it to an empty slot. But there are also buttons to modify the process: Left Shift +RMB – buysell a full stack, Left Ctrl + RMB – buysell a single item (by the way, the full key controls are available via link). I am going to describe the controls within inventory in the next clause.
- So, what is new in the inventory controls. Left Shift + LMB – take a half of stack, Left Ctrl + LMB – take a single item from stack, Left Alt + LMB – add a single item to the stack.
Game`s controls
- Also from now you will find set bonuses in the item description (displayed on mouse hover) – in case the item is a part of a set..
- Now loot drops around the character instead of falling under his feet, meaning you will be able to examine it and pick it up easily :)
- Following your request we've added floor number display in the underground dungeons. The floor number is now displayed on a plate next to the door.
- Also the durability of each castle part will be displayed during construction.
- Based on your feedback we’ve added an auto pause (the feature is available only in SINGLE player mode). So from now on if you go to get yourself a cup of coffee, answer the phone or go outside for a walk, the game will be paused after 2 minutes just like you’ve pressed the Esc key.
- When you hover mouse cursor over the experience stars in the character window, your current experience will be displayed along with the value you need to reach to level up.
- We’ve lowered money costs for buying land and activating the dragon for testing purposes.
These are still not final, but we are carefully reviewing your feedback and working on the new balance system.)
Fixed bugs:
1. The bug with the boss in the last underground cave. Naturally, only a handful of players has reached this point in the game. But I assure you that we got the report on this bug from a player who cleared the entire dungeon – luckily we have a map now :)
2. Fixed some of the wolf's animations to stop its body parts from disappearing.

Please welcome a highly important multiplayer update 0.9.012.
We have migrated to a new multiplayer engine to allow user from all over the world to play together. It wasn't easy but certainly worth the effort. We have conducted numerous tests with players from other countries and everything worked out great! From now on our players from China, South America and Canada can easily join the multiplayer mode!
Also now it is possible for users from different countries to play together. And we’ve decreased ping so there will be less lag in the game.
Fixes:
The bug with damaging and capturing a castle of AI player in Multiplayer mode.
MInor localization bug with /n tag.
The next update (0.9.013) will be available shortly!

Please welcome Niffelheim update 0.9.011 introducing the long-awaited dungeon map and portals. About 90% of the gaming community requested these features, and we have implemented them based on your feedback.
But first, let's cover the gameplay improvements.
1. We've improved loot pickup at the feet of the playable character.
2. The cursor hover area for loot items has been increased.
3. The Esc key can now be used to close inventory.
4. If you are playing via keyboard, you can walk to the left and to the right (but no running) with your inventory open.
5. Digging and tree chopping now also work via E keyboard key, Use the combination S+E to build doors.
6. The T key is now used for teleporting.
To update control settings press the "Default" button and save the settings.
Bug corrections:
1. Mobs no longer get through the walls.
2. Legend and Trader achievements have been fixed
3. Death in the Store.
4. AI names are now displayed correctly.
5. Quest completion in the Store.
New functionality
1. Underground map. Now during exploration of underground dungeons, you will be able to see what parts you've already visited. Use the M key or the on-screen button to display the map. Each dungeon has its own unique map.

2. Portals. Now you will be able to craft a Portal Scroll in the Alchemy workshop. The portals can only be placed underground and connect you with your workshops. Currently, the following tasks are in implementation:
1. Gamepad controls and tips system.
2. Migration to a new multiplayer engine to get rid of restrictions concerning players' countries of residence.
3. New features for weapons and ammunition (for further balancing of the game).
4. The introduction of a new character – the Valkyrie.
5. Activation of the Witch in Witches Burrow and introduction of new NPCs (more info to follow soon).
6. Localization of storyline quests to 10 languages.
7. Creation of a new game balancing system.
8. Consideration of resources in chests during crafting.
9. Animations for the new characters (Berserker, Shaman and Jotuns).
10. Art for three remaining locations is 50% complete.

please welcome the long-awaited 0.9.010 update, introducing running and accelerated attack and gathering animations. Simply press left Shift key while running and see for yourself. But be aware that our mobs also have decent running animation now and became a bit faster :)
Just as you suggested, we’ve implemented stamina and fast running. For example, if you happen to see a ghost, you will run away quickly. Stamina is restored while you aren’t running, fighting, mining for oar or chopping wood. You can also use stamina potions to restore it quickly. Using charms and throne also accelerates stamina restoration.
We haven’t finished the full controller support yet, but it’s almost finished. What’s left is a tooltip system for buttons for comfortable control. The system will surely be implemented before the 0.9.011 update.
Also please note that from now on if a window is opened (including the inventory window) you cannot control the character until all windows will be closed again. We have separated ingame controls and UI control.
The next update will include the underground map and portals system for quick teleportation between workshops and dungeon.

Hi everyone!
Finally I'd like to present the update 0.9.9 introducing the new UI system and controls. We've spent a lot of time on the system, but it was truly necessary. The game has also migrated to a new Unity version and the inventories data structure has been improved. We've also implemented a new control system that should improve game handling, including gamepad controls.
There have been a lot of concerns from the community about slow updates. We would be happy to speed up the process, but the GUI part turned out most difficult. Currently we have only 2 programmers employed, but we are giving our best.:)
But before I get into details on the new update, a few words about our plans and some other small tweaks.
Controller does not work in this update. The feature has been temporary disabled, and we even removed the Steam description part about gamepad support. We are going to work on the feature in the next few weeks. So full gamepad support will be implemented in version 0.9.10. And for now I kindly ask you not to use gamepads.:)
There are some minor balance tweaks. Now the animals will breed a bit faster, so boars and bears will appear sooner. Also we've removed the rotten egg from the first sword recipe and added a copper ingot instead. The number of items in a single cell has been increased.

I was hoping to congratulate you on the new game update as well, but unfortunately we didn't manage to complete it by the end of the year. While the update is almost ready, we are still testing and cleaning up bugs, and adding various info to the GUI to provide a comfortable gaming experience.
Next week you will be able to try out version 0.9.9 of the game with a Beta version using the password niffelheim2016. In case you do not want to test, or if you are concerned about losing the game progress as you will not be able to return to version 0.9.8, or if you are afraid of bugs, it is better not to do it :) And if you choose to play our Beta, please post your feedback and reports in our group or comment on this post.
I hope that version 0.9.9 will be available on 12th January.

Though Niffelheim is not a horror game, it sometimes can be pretty scary during testing, when skeletons pop out of the walls in dungeons! By the way, this is a bug and will definitely be fixed :) So we are joining the holiday sale and offering the game with a 15% discount until 1st November.
We are still working on the GUI and controls in the game. This turned out a real challenge, but the task is highly important for the upcoming updates. We are doing our best to get everything ready as soon as possible! There will be more news concerning that, but for now:

Hi everyone, We have fixed a small bug with quests in Multiplayer mode. Now all players will be able to complete quests. I'd also like to take a moment to talk about work in progress and further plans. Currently we are introducing a new GUI and control system to improve game controls via mouse and keyboard, as well as using a gamepad. It's taking more time than initially planned as we've had to migrate to a new game engine version and rewrite the code for GUI and controls. But this will allow us more possibilities for introducing new features. What new interface features are going to be added? 1. A quick access panel for switching between weapons and using various items and food; 2. A diplomacy window for managing the list of players by the game host; 3. Players will be able to fully undress (and dress again) the character. The hero will be able to attack without any equipped weapons (head butt and kick); 4. Crafting will become more convenient; 5. A more convenient item sorting in the inventory. You will be able to quickly relocate item stacks, as well as pick up a half of a stack and put a single item in a slot. So there are a lot of positive changes coming. Maybe not everything will be done at once, but we will do our best to introduce all planned features ASAP. Stay tuned for more info as we progress. What's next? Here is some info on the features we're going to introduce after finishing work on the new GUI. These features are mostly based on player feedback and have been requested by the game community. Thank you for your comments once again! 1. New, quicker animations for the main character and monsters. And the character is going to run faster! A new attribute "Endurance" will be added. 2. A map of the underground dungeons. Yes, we will add it! :) 3. Portals for quick relocation from dungeons to your castle and back. 4. Crafting in a workshop will consider resources from all chests in the castle. You won't have to run around picking up resources in your inventory. It will be enough to sort the collected items at your option :) 5. Players will be able to summon a new NPC for defending the castle by activating a special scroll. 6. More food with simple recipes (mostly meat). 7. The castles will be able to shoot down nearby enemies. Players will have to craft some special weapons and required ammunition. 8. Three new playable characters. 9. New quests and new storyline characters, including the Norse god Odin :) And my favorite character - a spirit assistant :)) Naturally, we are going to work on the game balancing, also considering your feedback. Most designs are ready and the work on animation has already started. This list of new features is not definite, we will disclose more info later on :) We will do our best to add more features ASAP. The next update (ver. 0.9.9) is scheduled for late October, as we have some serious GUI and control testing ahead of us. But we will be sure to get back to you with more news until then! Finally we are done with the new multiplayer mode. But before please let me tell you about the latest bug fixes.
Fixed issues:
1. Bug with arrow when it was impossible to change arrows in a saved game.
2. Bug with health display on the button. Now it's updated with every level up.
And now for the new MP mode.
There have been a lot of changes, let me start from the beginning.
1. Multiplayer game creation.
Now on game creation you choose the number of players on a territory instead of the general player number on the server. There are four options (1, 2, 3, 4).
2. The world creation options for server players.
The conditions are defined by the player who creates the server.
As you can see on the picture, there are three available territory statuses.
1. Players – new players can join this territory if there is enough free slots.
2. AI – this territory will be controlled by bots. Human players will be able to capture it, but it's not going to be easy:) On the screenshot you see game server has chosen the option 4 players on 1 territory, therefore there are 4 AI players. If you'd like to play with just a few people, it would be better to choose a lower number of players without AI, otherwise you will be forced to fight alone against 4 AI players.
3. Closed – empty territory, players cannot join. There are no AI bots and the land cannot be captured, you can only buy the land in the game.
Team capacity is limited to 4 players, even if you capture or buy new lands.
The pic below shows what happens when you load a saved game. Online players are marked green, offline players are marked red.
Both game progress and inventory for all players is saved. New players start the game from scratch.
Choosing the game from the server list.
The list of servers includes only servers with available slots for joining. You will also see a server in the list, if there are no free slots, but you've already played on that particular server before.
You can join a game and disconnect at any point, however the server must have the game running.
And now for the main multiplayer change.
From now on there is no failure in the multiplayer mode (there are NO changes in the single player mode – losing your only territory means losing the game!!!). What does it mean? Now if your territory is captured or destroyed, you become "landless" (I call these players "pirates"). The game does not end at that point and you can win your land back or buy a new territory. The town becomes you home. In case of death you will be revived in the town and the map becomes fully free for travel. Please note, that pressing the Map button will teleport you to the town. So please do not press the button while under the ground: you won't be able to close it to return to the previous position and will have to return from the town. There are penalties for the "pirates" too: maximum health is decreased by 300 HP, death penalty doubles. So be careful in battles. Your stats will restore once you own a territory. Therefore it's advisable to have 12 000 Gold on you to buy a new land or a land that has been destroyed by skeletons, for example. By the way, when you buy a land destroyed be the skeletons, keep in mind that the skeletons are still lurking somewhere close, so it's better to enter the land and kill all of them.

My favorite tactic is robbing enemy castles (if the owner is keeping something valuable in the workshops) and returning the land back to the previous owner – that way I don't have to build up my base :) But everyone has their own preferences.
I also like the fact that you can play alone in multiplayer mode – that way you have yourself a single mode without failure:)
Later we are planning to display ping in the connection window, as well as kick and ban options for the server creator. This way new players will be able to join the game, but starting with empty progress. VAC anticheat is also planned, as well as filters by server name, ping and other stats.
Now we are launching an active programming phase for new GUI and controls. This will take at least a month, since we are starting to program from scratch, but we will do our best to keep fixing bugs during that time. I am going to keep you updated on our progress! In the mean time, please get back to us with your feedback and bug reports. Thanks!

we have a few small fixes and an update.
Fixed bugs:
1. Bug with trap collection after crafting
2. Bug with the gun and bow switching.
3. Achievement issues.
4. Bug with charm description on altars and in the description window.
A few changes concerning achievements:
1. From now on the achievement progress is visible. The shown progress displays the maximum value gained in a saved game. When you delete a save, the progress will be kept, but will continue development after you reach the same result in a new profile or in another save. This is due to the fact that we have 6 saves and you can gain each achievement in every one.
2. During the game you will see a message on each gained achievement.
The update 0.9.8 with multiplayer changes is scheduled on 7th September.

Hi everyone! Please welcome the new Niffelheim update (version 0.9.7) All right, here is what has been added and fixed in the game.
Hello everyone,
the summer is here and it's hot outside, but we are working under the Stark house motto: "Winter is coming!" So no rest for us and please welcome the update 0.9.6!
What is new in this version:
1. Your hero's health will gradually decrease in the dungeons as you progress deeper under the ground. Currently, the health loss is not as strong as we would like to test the feature and collect your feedback. Please let us know your thoughts.
2. You will be able to stop the health loss by placing lamps, holding a torch or activating a charm in the dungeon.
3. The lamp crafting has been simplified a little bit, so now you can craft more lamps to place under the ground. By the way, check out how cool the dungeons look with the lamps :) Each lamp type has an individual area of effect. We will add a new Steam guide with lamp parameters after careful balancing.
4. As promised before, the sigils are now activated directly from the inventory or chest (provided you have the required skills). You don't have to click the sigil again in the skill tree.
5. Mobs restore their health gradually. Earlier you could kill a boss by returning over and over again, but now its health will slowly restore while you are coming back. Other mobs also regenerate in time.
What to expect in the following update?
As mentioned before, we are trying to update the game and implement bigger improvements as well. Sometimes an update can be postponed to give us more time to work on the improvements.
1. Connection and disconnection during an online game.
2. Charm crafting and activation from the inventory. Instead of activating charms at the altars we'd like to give you the opportunity to craft the charms and activate them whenever you like: in the dungeons or during battles.
The full-scale improvements we are working on right now are a new GUI and controls system, including:
1. a quick access panel and hotkeys for quick activation;
2. moving items (also in stacks);
3. we will remove the context menu and allow activation on right click;
4. one-click item creation and collection from chests;
5. no extra windows with item count when replacing items;
6. addition of a new chat and removal of some buttons;
7. multiplayer mode with the possibility to connect and disconnect from the game without having to restart and some more MP features.
After finishing UI improvements we will continue working on the main character.
1. The hero will get a new Stamina parameter which will allow him to run faster.
2. The speed of all animations will be increased. We will adjust the defense and combat animations.
3. You will be able to remove all equipment from the character.
4. New gamepad control will be added.
After that we will the storyline implementation and adding new characters, mobs etc. following by final balancing.
Currently we are designing new characters and preparing animation and soon will continue drawing new locations.
As you can see, there is a lot of work, but thanks to your support we are able to improve and perfect the game! Thank you and have fun playing.

Hello everyone, we are still pushing the development forward, and are proud to announce the 0.9.5 update. What's new in the game? 1. We are introducing a completely reworked map feature. Now you will be able to traverse between your territories for free. Travelling to town still requires some money, as usual. From now on the map displays which one of your territories is currently under attack. Quick teleport back to your castle also requires some money; however you will be able to return to your castle from other lands for free. Once you've quit to the map you will only have the options to return to your castle or travel to town. Travelling from the map to enemy territories is no longer possible. 2. We have added hero's tracks. From now on while exploring the dungeons you will see where you have already been and what parts are still unexplored. 3. Both current and overall health levels are now displayed on the hero icon, to help you track your hero's health state. 4. We have removed the door crafting option from the dungeons. Currently there is no use for doors and the feature may be removed permanently from the game. Fixed errors and bugs: 1. Fixed bug with items that have not been removed while complying to an ultimatum. 2. Fixed bug with disappearing trophies after update. 3. Multiplayer mode: fixed issue when one of the players did not see a boss after respawn. What to expect in the following update in 2 weeks: A lot of you have been asking: "What do we need the lamps for? It's bright enough in the dungeons”. Now we are planning to implement a concept that has been designed prior to Early Access launch. Your hero's health will gradually decrease in the dungeons as you progress deeper under the ground. The lamps will allow you to stop health decreasing. Each lamp has its own area of effect, but all available lamp tyoes will be required to explore dungeons. Dear players, these minor improvements and additions are being developed at the same time as some major game changes. We've already launched working on new UI screens, a new multiplayer system, new animations and new controls. We are aiming to complete the mentioned tasks until the end of summer and release a major game update. But we are still planning to release a minor update every two weeks including some of your suggestions. Today we are releasing another small NIffelheim update (version 0.9.4).
What is new?
1. Health regeneration on the Throne: now all you have to do to restore your health, is sit on the throne and take some rest.
2. Now you can set the number of items to craft (provided you have the necessary resources) in the crafting window.
3. The item collection offered at the Merchant's Shop now depends on your Trader skill. Some players have found iit too simple to level up, merely by crafting some helmets and purchasing advanced equipment - but now it’s not going to be that easy.
Dear players, we are still in the process of further developing and improving the game based on your feedback. We are planning to improve the global map feature to display the land currently under attack, and will try and implement character’s traces in the dungeons.
These are the minor improvements we are going to make, while still working on major ones, such as; GUI, new character animation for faster running, storyline and gamepad control. And game balance, too, naturally.

Please welcome Niffelheim update (version 0.9.2) Before I start writing about what we’ve been up to during the last few weeks, let me tell you a bit about our plans (which are being updated after reading your feedback, by the way). Thanks for all of your feedback, videos, comments and for staying in the game :) So, the game has been released 3 weeks ago, and these were surely some busy, but very efficient weeks. We have watched (and are still watching) all walkthroughs and reading all your feedback. We have created a document to include your ideas and suggestions. So here are a few features we will be changing (and improving) for sure: 1. Interface. There is a lot of work here, as GUI must be user-friendly for mouse and keyboard, as well as for gamepads. The interface should be intuitive and comfortable for crafting (including all inventories and chests), buying items at the shop etc. As well as… let’s move on to the next point. 2. New characters - and by that I don’t mean the mobs. Everybody put there asks for more playable characters, especially a female warrior. We see a way to add 3 more characters - to make both single and multiplayer games more fun and enjoyable :) BTW, speaking of multiplayer mode... 3. Currently we are focused on fixing bugs, and there is a lot of work on build stabilization. But we have taken some time to adopt a new multiplayer engine. This should fix the connection issues… but we are still testing the multiplayer mode. You are aware of the “infinite” world loading. Based on your feedback, we’ve decided to improve the multiplayer mode. Players will be able to host their own servers with other connecting and disconnecting (later you will also be able to choose a character on connecting to a server). 4. Storyline. We already started working on new texts and storyline - that’s all I can say for now. 5. Animations... A lot of work is required: from adding new animations to improving soe of the current stuff, for example, running (yes, the character will be faster!) and combat (finally, the shield will work correctly!) 6. Game play… there are a lot of ideas, I will write more on this some other time - it’s just a huge subject)) In other news: we’ve updated the Chinese localization and added an Italian version. On behalf of the entire team I’d like to thank two of our devoted players (I’m sure the community willl join me). Many thanks to Ken for helping us improve Chinese texts. And many thanks to Emanuele for translating the game to Italian!! In the future we will react swiftly to your localization requests. If you think anything in the texts should be corrected - please let us now. And by all means, let us know, if you are willing to translate a news post or a guide to your native language :) Another big thanks goes out to Patch for the game guide. We will soon post an illustrated guide based on this one. And here is what’s new. Technical fixes: 1. All achievements have been fixed. 2. Sigil functionality has been fixed. 3. The potions are mutually exclusive as of now. The previous potion effect is dispelled once you drink the next one. 4. Character experience gaining has been fixed. 5. Mini buildings functionality has been fixed. 6. Issue with switching to another language has been fixed. 7. A new multiplayer engine has been adopted. 8. Equipment set bonuses have been fixed. 9. And a lot of small bugs! Balance improvements: 1. The vault now includes the most precious stuff!!! (new game only). Please let us know, what you think! 2. Potions restore less HP. 3. Mobs have become tougher… but you’ll find new equipment in the boss’s chests. 4. Side dungeons have become deeper. 5. Oh, yes, it all starts with a club, but the sword is nearby, you’ll find it :) see clause 1. 6. Silver arrows do not require any titanium as of now (you are extremely observant!) 7. Dead wolves sometimes drop Rotten Eggs now… oh boy, the stuff it eats down there, in the dungeons! 8. Death penalty is higher and will cost you 20% of your gold now. 9. There will be more Dope root out there, so start brewing beer! 10. Plant gathering will not add to your Woodcutter skill anymore. 11. You will receive ultimatums later and will have more time to complete the tasks. I guess, that’s it for now. We are keeping on our hunt for bugs and bug-fixing and continuing multiplayer testing. We are still reading your posts, so post more! And we are working on a game guide as well… very soon we will post an illustrated “Introduction”. There is still a lot of work ahead of us, but we enjoy it and hope you’ll enjoy the results! PS. Good news, everyone, please welcome Niffelheim update (version 0.9.1) Before I start the citation of fixes, I’d like to thank all the players who bought the game for their support. Thanks to everyone actively posting on Steam community for bug reports and suggestions. We are making sure to read all feedback, both positive and negative, because all your opinions matter to us. I know that when you buy a game during Early Access, you realize that the game is still in development and these things may happen during walkthrough.
