Achievements!

Not all of them are THAT easy though, don't worry You'll have to really get your resources going to unlock everything!
Controller support
We were implementing game controller support! With a WHOLE new wheel menu easier to navigate with a gamepad.
But that's not all, we also made

Also, there will be a possibility of moving buildings from colony to colony.
And exchange them if the radius expands.
New menu dioramas
Customizable difficulty
When you start the campaign you can choose the difficulty level.
You can set your resources to be unlimited, turning the game into a sandbox where everything is basically free. But! You can also make the game more of a challenge. Hey, Birdfolks!
A little bird told us that we have some announcements to make! And we are more than happy to share some news with you.
With this update we are introducing a new game mechanic: workforce. And we are sure that youll love it!
From now on, each colony will possess a certain amount of workforce! This change will dictate how many buildings your colony can support. Thanks to that, youll get some free space, which will help you with the most optimal build. You can build your colony not only faster, but more thoughtful! Also, building neighborhood bonuses is going to be much more impactful! Establishing laser connections is gonna be much easier, too.
By default, a colony starts with 16 workforce and if youd like to increase it, you can either:
- upgrade colony radius
- build more Stabilizers
Any previous saves are compatible with these changes, BUT due to the nature of this update, you might have to do some housekeeping. Buildings over the limit from previous saves wont be destroyed, but in order to place any new stuff, excess buildings will have to be removed. So keep that in mind!
But thats not all! We changed the balancing of particular buildings and production chains. This way the limiting of the number of buildings wont stop you from getting the resources that you need! We know that some of you would like to dive deeper into the changelog, so here is the full list of changes and fixes in this new patch. Enjoy! ## [Patch 0.3.1] -- 2024-01-15 Changes: - Colonies become much less prone to having their production thrown off balance whenever a couple of buildings need to be deleted to make some space. - Graphical performance has improved especially at the later stages of the game. Fixes: - Fixed the bug that would sometimes delete large chunks of nearby colonies whenever destroying an enemy wave. - Added missing production tree for tier 6. - Changed the word capitalization for errors and tooltips to make them more readable. - Removed "Precision Terraforming" technology as it did not work due the building not being in the game yet. - Added progress bars to some missions in prologue to make things a bit easier to understand. We truly believe that this update will highly upgrade your gaming experience with Scorchlands! Let us know what you think, were always happy to hear your feedback. Take care and remember, if you want to be up-to-date with everything thats happening in the nest, make sure to join our Discord server! Check our Facebook, Twitter, TikTok and Instagram, too!
See ya and have fun! Ringlab and Star Drifters

Birdfolks!
How are you doing? We're excited today as were bringing you another batch of changes and improvements to enhance your gaming experience in Scorchlands! In the newest update we've focused on refining your gameplay interactions and addressing some reported issues. Let's dive into the details!
Two main changes
First of all, we understand that navigating through new content can sometimes be challenging. That's why, after unlocking your first alternative recipe, we've introduced a helpful arrow that guides you to the appropriate spot in the UI. No more confusion - just a clear path to your newly acquired recipes. Whats more, we've reworked how dialogues that are triggered by unlocking new technologies function. Instead of appearing randomly and automatically progressing, we've given you more control over them. Now you can manually initiate the dialogue, progress through it at your own pace, or simply dismiss it with a right click! This change ensures that you're fully engaged with the story and lore whenever you unlock new technologies.
Thats not all!
In addition to these new features, we've also worked diligently to address issues reported by our dedicated players - you. Here's the full list of changes! [Patch 0.2.3] -- 2023-08-16 Changes:
- Added a helpful arrow pointing player to a right UI spot after unlocking a first alternative recipe.
- Reworked how dialogues triggered by unlocking a new technology appear. Instead of appearing randomly and automatically progressing, players can now manually play dialogue, click through it manually or dismiss them with a right click.
- Fixed Pipe Hubs sometimes not being loaded properly when placed in the area affected by Landscaper Bug Nests.
- Fixed errors that sometimes happened whenever deleting multiple of the same biome.
- Fixed placing any biome causing all units flying over unwalkable terrain to despawn.
- Fixed altar worldspace UI not appearing properly whenever placing altars.
We're confident that this update will truly elevate your gaming experience! Have fun! In conclusion, a heartfelt Thank You goes out to you for your feedback and suggestions. Feel free to contact us on our Discord, Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram. Were always happy to talk!
Looking forward to sharing more exciting developments with you soon, Ringlab and Star Drifters
Birdfolks!
A fresh update for Scorchlands is officially live! It brings a host of significant fixes and smaller tweaks that are bound to elevate your gameplay experience and delight our beloved Giwis, of course!
One of the main changes is that now trees and grass will sway gracefully in response to the wind! We think that the sight of leaves gently dancing in the breeze adds a touch of realism to our fantastical world. Do you agree? ;)
Whats more, colonies will no longer claim volcanic terrains. Oh, speaking about terrains - they will be automatically claimed once nearby enemy groups are defeated! Now you can conquer with ease!
Curious to know the other details? Here's the full list of changes!

Hello, birdfolks! How are you doing? We just released the Reveal Date Trailer (Early Access). In case you didnt watch it, here it is: [previewyoutube=5T6kA4BZQsg;full][/previewyoutube] Today, its time to continue our Gameplay Insight series. This is the 4th issue of it! Well visit three (tree? ) places.
Tech Tree
Lets take a quick look at the technology tree. Its quite sprawling, but what we like about it is that you dont wait for your technology to be researched. You choose it - you get it. Heres a screen from the trailer we posted a few lines above.
This immediacy is in line with the core idea of Scorchlands, which is playing at your own pace. Whenever you make a decision, the game reacts instantly. You don't wait for a production bar to reach its end, or for resources to be slowly, arduously gathered. It's more about thinking about your next move and making it than about going through the motions in order to see it happen. The pacing depends on you alone.
The Altars System
Like in every city-builder, the buildings you place matter a lot. In Scorchlands, some buildings can influence others. To create some resources you need to do something more than just provide enough materials or place appropriate buildings. Meet the altars special buildings influencing other production buildings within their reach. You will need different combinations of altars to create different resources.
There are three types of altars and each has a unique shape of its influence scope. These shapes are not random. They will be easy to use in most cases but if you have limited space in your colony and you dont want to waste it, or if you want to produce several resources at once, youll certainly have to experiment a bit.
A few words about mod support
Let us put it this way.
Yes, Scorchlands will have mod support from the very beginning right at the start of Early Access! This is great news for folks that want more stuff or wish to spice up their vanilla game a bit. Our goal is to make all of the content present in the game with the exception of the core mechanics, moddable. We know that your imagination is boundless and we want to let you go wild with your creations! Modders will be able to modify and add new types of terrain, biomes, buildings, technologies, and units. New language versions of the base game and mod localisation can be added to both the already existing and the newly introduced content. Of course, we know that at the beginning the mod support wont be flawless and modders will encounter bugs. However, we can assure you that all will be patched and improved with time. Our team is focused on constantly tweaking things in the games EA build. We cant wait to see what youll cook up! Before youll start making your own version of our game

Hello, Folks! We all that Giwis live the rule cant stop | wont stop and theyre constantly running from one place to another. In this issue of Gameplay Insight, well take on a journey with three stops ahead of us. Theres a lot that needs to be told put on your running gear and lets get started! Stop no. 1:
Terraforming
In Scorchlands, you reshape the terrain instantly, and anywhere you want. Moreover, later you can relocate the biomes you've made at a whim and any time! You get total control over the terrain you build your cities on. Feel free to do whatever you feel like doing. Its good to think strategically when terraforming. Clever placement of biomes lets you benefit more from their characteristics. We wrote a lot about the bonuses in the second Gameplay Insight youll find it here. Lets get straight to the point - as you develop your civilization, you can progress through multiple biomes, each with different advantages. We wanted to make sure that instant terraforming remains fun and special regardless of how many times you do it. To accomplish this, we took a lot of effort to visually represent the process in an awe-inspiring way. Our team decided to choose a pastel color palette to play a key role in the graphic design of Scorchlands. The sound plays a big part, too - when you hear the earth crumbling like its ready to rearrange itself, you know youre dealing with a powerful and mysterious force.
We hope youll enjoy changing the landscape and making it your own. Time for the second stop! Stop no. 2:
Biomes
Everytime you start your game on a volcanic planet, the terrain surrounding you at the beginning of your journey is a wasteland of scorched land and lava . Besides this first biome, there are three more you can create later in your game. Just a reminder - each biome introduces a new set of resources, technologies, and a new type of combat equipment.
The placing of a new biome you want to create shouldnt be random look for the spot which will produce the best resource veins. Whats more, you need to plan for the future of your colonies you would want to place a biome to make the resource transportation much easier rather than more difficult. Keep in mind the already existing terrain. If your new biome overlaps with the one already there, it might destroy the old landscape. Each new biome introduces a couple of new twists to the city building. You will have to plan around the shape of resource veins, the terrain itself, establish logistic connections between colonies in other biomes and master the production of newly unlocked types of products and finally scale up your infrastructure. Creating new biomes is essential for gathering new resources and expanding your colony but its also fun to see how much you can transform a volcanic wasteland!
We always have a lot of fun constantly reshaping the hexagons around our colonies hope you like terraforming the biomes too! Adjust your laces, its time for Stop no. 3:
Resource management
To which our game has quite a unique approach. In Scorchlands, the standard gradual resource production was replaced with a supply and demand system. By producing resources, you simply increase its local availability. Whenever you use up a resource, its demand is increased. Resource deficits can limit the effectiveness of dependent production chains and having a surplus of production means that the resource can still be used for more stuff. The most interesting aspect of this system is that the player receives instant feedback for every action performed. You can see the changes in resource availability right away and dont need to wait for anything to be produced. This also eliminates other forms of waiting. For example, your technological advancement is achieved by continuously scaling up your empire and expanding your production. Any new technology discovered will increase the demand for the required resources. The same stands true whenever creating new biomes or making equipment for your combatants. The final noteworthy advantage to having no resource storage in Scorchlands is the fact that it reduces the player's mental load. Apart from much faster and smoother gameplay, it lets you focus on other features focused on the supply and demand system that you can't usually find in other city builders or similar games. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1090100/Scorchlands/ This is the last stop. See you around! Keep calm and get ready for Gameplay Insight #4! Developers from Ringlab
Hello, Folks!
Its time to change the gear with publishing new announcements on Steam. Today, well focus on the bonus system that allows the player to make the most out of the colony. But first: check out this photo of bird colonists just hanging around in the city. We hope that you can feel the heartbeat of the colony! For us, its the little details that matter.
They're not only making the place feel more alive, but also add some extra weight to your actions - structures you build are inhabited, and your decisions impact not only just numbers, but also your Giwis. Lets leave them now, were sure theyre having a great time.
This time we want to show you our bonus system. Lets get straight to it!
In one of the previous posts, we explained that building placement is very important in Scorchlands. There are many reasons for this, such as limited space, resource management, etc. Thinking about your surroundings plays a key role here, but theres also another important reason.
Each production building has its own set of rules specifying the set of conditions where it works at full capacity.
Planning out your colony layout is just as much about production management, as it is about maximizing the performance of each individual building. Some bonuses can be quite straightforward. How is that? Let us provide some examples: raw resource producers need to be placed next to their desired resource veins, but this is only the tip of the iceberg. Liquid extractors should be placed on the shorelines, which are limited and hard to claim in a single colony. Mineshafts work faster when placed one next to another, however, they still need some unobstructed space to mine. Gatherers need a lot of free land, but with a big area, a few other buildings nearby won't hinder them that much.
Buildings that do process complex resources also behave in their own ways. Crafters work best next to raw extraction buildings. Artificer gets boosted by processing buildings, Alchemist profits from Farms and science buildings, etc. Think about your possibilities and the connections you're about to make in your colonies.
There is no limit on bonuses that one tile can provide.
If you find a very rare, but very small resource vein, you can still build and organize a whole colony around it, and use it to the fullest. Thanks to all of this, planning a colony organically turns into an interesting puzzle . It will never be the same each colony will differ from one another depending on the available resource veins, resources available or buildings placed. Dear birdfoks , thats all for today. Yes, yes we know that there's a lot of information above, so keep calm, take your time to fully assimilate the knowledge from this Gameplay Insight. Until next time my friends! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1090100/Scorchlands/ Yours Ringlab
Hello everyone!
The year 2022 is now a melody of the past.
We would like to thank all of you guys for supporting us since day one!
Without further ado - lets check out what happened in our camp during the second half of 22. Lets go!
First Dwarf (...and some gaming events here and there! )
In case you missed it - First Dwarf is our upcoming Action RPG set in the world of Driftland. Thats why you can read about it on Driftland: The Magic Revival Steam card. Youll be able to pet a good boi in the game. Mhm. Thats right!
Now, lets talk about the asymmetrical co-op that were implementing in First Dwarf.
In co-op, players will be able to take control over the mech or one of its pilots: Tru or Ragna. Each of them has its own, separate skills to develop and upgrade. All characters have their strengths and weaknesses so its important to choose the characters wisely when preparing to complete certain tasks. In a single-player game, the player can switch between characters, completing tasks with the one with better skills in a given field. Tru, Ragna, and the Mech will have different skill trees. Tru will be a better Mecha pilot, Ragna can e.g. fly, and the Mech can be treated as a kind of armored vehicle, so without a pilot it will not work.
Its important to say that implementing the asymmetrical co-op would not be possible without the Game Prototype Design Competition 2022 in which we were awarded!
The competition mentioned above helped us create some new mechanics for First Dwarf. Those mechanics evolved into a full-fledged, asymmetrical co-op mode of the game, which we implemented in its build! Once again, thank you to the co-organizers of the competition: Ministry of Culture and National Heritage of Poland, Centrum GovTech Poland, and CRPK, as well as Copernicus Game Jam 2022 - during which the diplomas were handed over and everyone who supported us along the way. We showed our upcoming action RPG at many gaming events, both digital and held in real places. Just to name a few: - PAX West; - Pozna Games Arena (PGA); - Indie Cade; - DreamHack Beyond Indie Showcase; - MIX Next 2022; - Dev.Play; - #PitchYaGame. Its time to focus on 3 of them.
First stop - PAX West.
Lots of you came to our booth to check out an early build of our game. Thank you for that! See you next year! Your reactions surpassed our expectations, and the feedback provided will certainly influence the further development of the game, already at this stage. It was 4 days full of interesting conversations, laughter and a unique atmosphere created by countless players, cosplayers, journalists, or industry representatives.
Second stop - Pozna Games Arena (PGA).
In Pozna, we were showing First Dwarf, Scorchlands, Brewpub Simulator, and Lumencraft. PGA was such a blast! We felt your enjoyment brought to your faces by our upcoming games. Just look at Kuba, one of the members of our team - his smile does not lie
The last stop - Dev.Play.
Its a yearly celebration of indie games and their developers. Game creators from all over the world come to Bucharest to present their titles and experiences. The event ended with an award gala. First Dwarf received 3 awards: Best Game of the Show, Best Visuals, and Most Popular Game. Thank yall!
To wrap up the First Dwarf chapter of this recap we want to write about the key role of our IGN - Exclusive Announcement Trailer posted on IGNs YouTube channel was viewed more than 285k times. There are also more than 5.4k thumbs up under the video! [previewyoutube=ZKC-fx7Vl88;full][/previewyoutube] https://store.steampowered.com/app/1714900/First_Dwarf/
Scorchlands
Who wont fall in love with birdlike Giwis, running around through the hexes? The games a wholesome and adorable city builder.
Play the demo version - is available for free here, on Steam! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1090100/Scorchlands/
At this point, we can say that developers from Ringlab are aiming for publishing more Steam News about in-game mechanics. When were writing these words, three of them are available as we speak: How the protagonist Giwi hatched, How to build your colony, and Gameplay Insight #1: Summoning the Nexus. Stay tuned ! More of them will be published during January and February of 2023. Also, the game received a warm welcome during #TurnBasedFest 2022!
Lumencraft
The full release of this unique mix of a top-down shooter with base building and roguelike mechanisms is just around the corner! Nonetheless, were not spoiling the release date at the moment. Thats not the only great news - something big is coming to the game. We bet you werent expecting this. Jump on the hype train, but stay calm. For now, lets go down. Together.
The developers from 2Dynamic Games are constantly tweaking and upgrading the games build. You can help them by completing the survey they made - well be very grateful for the feedback! Its called Discord survey, because the games community was the first one to answer the questions mentioned in it. Link to Lumencraft survey: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSckMJ-2HMumj5rPd_i2Up0bxT3CRyQvZzWpmKmvBQTfKDTLNg/viewform
One of the most important moments during the Early Access of Lumencraft was taking a different approach to the game's build. The experimental update published a few months ago left the beta stage. It's now living its new life - the developers called it Giga Update. Lumencraft is reshaping every once in a while - two bigger updates and one smaller update were released since the release of Giga Update. Theres a lot of fresh content in the game - you should play it now, especially if you spent some time with Lumencraft a few months ago. It truly is worth revisiting!
Brewpub Simulator
There was a first, official playtest of the game - were glad how many of you decided to check out what its like to run a virtual pub and brew some virtual ale! A playable build of the game was presented to European audiences for the first time during PGA 2022. Thanks for playing it, we know what works and what needs some tweaking here and there!
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1755180/Brewpub_Simulator/
Danger Scavenger
Our skyscraper roguelite shooter is out now on Epic Games Store!
Just a reminder - Danger Scavenger is available on PC, PS4, XONE, Nintendo Switch, Atari VCS, and XSX. Its also a Steam Deck verified game - give it a try on one of the handhelds, and youll fall in love with this fast-paced gunslinger action! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1169740/Danger_Scavenger/ This is not the last word we said speaking about publishing our games catalog on Epic Games Store - more titles will follow soon. At this point, you can wishlist First Dwarf and Scorchlands on this platform! Thats all for today. Great things are here, but also great things are yet to come. 2023 will be ours! Dont forget to support IndieDev! Much love, Star Drifters
Hello everyone!
Todays the day we were waiting for.
We cant wait for the start to run even more.
Lets expand the colony and get to the point.

Now we can finally invite all of you.

Hello, Folks!
A few days ago we were showing you colonies and some systems surrounding them. We realized it was a fun idea, so its time to start a new mini series called Gameplay Insight. Well use it to show you a few mechanics implemented in Scorchlands . Today you can see the entire process of summoning the Nexus.
But first, heres a GIF for you.
What is the Nexus?
To quote Gunther, it is the pinnacle of Speculative Givi Science . So basically, it does magic. This structure will help convert the planet's energy into a different kind of energy, letting you terraform the volcanic landscape. Nexus is love, Nexus is life. Thats why we put it on our key art!
To use the Nexus you need to fuel it. And to fuel it, you need to gather resources and transport it to the structure through the transport lasers network. Build up your colony, gather resources, fuel the Nexus and use it see what biome you can unlock next! Last but not least.
Scorchlands is a part of DreamHack Beyond Indie Showcase.

Hello, Folks!
The basis of a city-builder game is - obviously - building a city. Or, like in our case, a network of interdependent colonies. So, we decided to write a Steam News dedicated to this topic.
Building placement is an important part of resource management in Scorchlands , so lets take a closer look at this aspect of the game.
When you plan out a new production district or want to set up a connection between two colonies, youre bound to build a lot.
Good news: nearly all the buildings are totally free and you place them instantly! Whats more, you can move or destroy them whenever you want.
Thanks to that you can focus on the gameplay and not on gathering resources just to be able to afford a new building. The only real limit is the borders of your colony, as you can only build inside. Colonies can be expanded to accommodate more buildings as you progress through the tech tree, but there is a limit on the number of colonies and colony upgrades. With that limit in mind, you wont be able to place all the buildings in just one colony. When you get to that point, youll have to decide what to build in each colony and where.
There are many ways you can set up the production of each available resource. For example, you can:
- create medium specialized settlements,
- spend more resources on creating the main colony and surround it with smaller mining settlements,
- create a spaghetti-like mess that will work just fine.
Dont forget that the demo version will come back to Steam during Steam Next Fest - it will begin October 3-10, 2022 @10AM PDT / 7 PM CEST.

Hey, hows it going? Some of you wonder what happened to the demo version of Scorchlands. In case you did not read the first Steam News announcing the game, the demo was available on Steam temporarily. We published it in August and it disappeared after two weeks since the day Star Drifters announced the publishing of the game. Nonetheless, the communitys growing - more and more people visit the games Discord server asking what happened to the demo version?. We got answers.
Surprise! The demo version of Scorchlands is back on Steam!
Thats not the only important thing weve got to share with you.
During the upcoming Steam Next Fest, there will be a stream from the latest build of the game!
Save the date! Next Fest will take place October 3-10, 2022 @10AM PDT / 7 PM CEST. (and yes, it means that the release date will be announced sooner than some of you could expect). To quote Well, Steam, Steam Next Fest is a multi-day celebration of upcoming games. Explore and play hundreds of game demos, watch developer livestreams, and chat with teams about their games in progress. So - celebrate it with us. Changelog for new demo version:
## [Demo Update] -- 2022-09-22
Changes: - Players can now start building from outside colony borders when they are within 3 tiles of distance from colony borders - Players without an access to a mouse scroll wheel can now zoom in and out with [,] and [.] rebindable keybinds - Added an option to rotate buildings with Shift + mouse scroll wheel - UI scaling can be now tuned down to 50% to accomodate for ultra wide displays - Players can now pan the view in overview mode by moving the cursor to the edge of the screen - Game icon has been updated Tutorial: - Camera tutorial has been tweaked to track cumulative zoom in/out instead of forcing player to zoom out far away - The final enemy wave in tutorial was adjusted to be a bit easier to beat - The font scale in mission panel and large tutorial panels was increased to raise readability - Most of the text in tutorial was reworked to be shorter and much more readable Bugs: - Fixed rare issue after loading which would cause some terrain to become volcanic - Fixed a rare bug where mirrors would be rotated incorrectly after loading the game Gotta go now

Hello once again ,
today were here to provide some insight about the famous red Giwi from our key arts! Hell be your in-game avatar.
Well, he's a bit lean back, which makes him very cool. Also, his smile is infectious.
As you know from the previous Steam News, Giwis cant fly. Theyre running back and forth through the hexes, so it was super important to us to animate the main character satisfyingly. Hes grateful now!
His final design you can see in the GIF below:
Our main hero is a character weve most likely spent most of our time on from among all other models. We had to be sure that our team made the right decision about his design, so we made many iterations of his design. He was evolving for quite a while before we decided that the version that you see is the right one.
Our hero needed to be visible from a distance because this is the perspective usually used while playing. The true magic happens when you zoom in on the Giwi. We were aiming for the cuteness overload!
Now the character looks adorable and carefree in both their looks and movement.
Did he steal your heart?
If you want to talk about Giwis and all the fun stuff, join our Discord server - Scorchlands community is growing fast!
The last, but not least:
some of you asked wheres the demo version of the game. It was available on Steam and then it disappeared. Dont worry, it will return sooner than you think.

Hello!, Look! The egg is cracking ! Whats that? Is it a bird ? Is it a human with a beak? Nope, hes one of the Giwis! But before we start, let me introduce myself. Im Jakub, Im the developer that created the Birdfolks you see here. The time has come to show you my beloved project named Scorchlands! Giwis are the inhabitants of my dreamt world. Bringing them to your PCs will be better with a suitable partner (Star Drifters ), who decided to publish my vision. Ive got to say Im super excited about working with them - Ive got nothing but respect for this Warsaw-based team, theyre also developers and released Driftland - The Magic Revival - one of the Polish games thats close to my heart. [previewyoutube=bjYEg5katr4;full][/previewyoutube] If Giwis could Tweet, they would post this Scorchalnds is a game in which you manage production of fantastic resources on a foreign, volcanic moon. Play at your own pace and relax in a setting that combines magic and science. Unfortunately, Giwis dont Tweet (just like Machete ), but I - catch me here: twitter.com/ringglan. TL;DR - main features of Scorchlands
- Hex grid-based city-building construct various buildings in your colonies. Each structure's productivity depends on neighboring resources and other constructions.
- Complex resource management its not only about extracting materials. Scorchlands takes account of logistics the movement of resources between colonies and combining them in robust processing chains. And yes, we move resources using LASERS!
- Terraforming for the greater good use magic and technology to change the biomes on procedurally generated maps and exploit the new environment to gain its unique resources
- Technology designed to give fun theres no fun in a sandbox if you dont have the toys to play with. The technology system in Scorchlands is key for player progression and new discoveries open up new ways to play with the game world
- Minimalistic combat system when you get into a fight, positioning will be the key. Destroy your enemies by surrounding them and placing your forces in optimal locations.
- tricky, reckless - they do not think things through often enough
- crafty - they appear capable of making crazy contraptions or overdoing things in funny ways
- harmless looking - even when it tries to, does not look like a badass
- animal-like, cute design that resembles household pets nobody would ever hurt.

Hello there, Folks!
I'm glad to say that Scorchlands will have mod support from the very beginning, starting already with early access. This is great news for folks that want more stuff or wish to spice up their vanilla game a bit.
My goal is to make all of the content present in the game with the exception of the core mechanics, moddable. I know that your imagination is boundless and we want to let you go wild with your creations!
Modders will be able to modify and add terrains, biomes, buildings, technologies, and units. New language versions of the base game and mod localisation can be added to both the already existing and the newly introduced content.
Of course, I know that at the beginning the mod support wont be flawless and modders will encounter bugs. However, I can assure you that all will be patched and improved with time. I'm very curious what is your opinion on mods and I cant wait to see what youll cook up!
Hello, Folks! You might have noticed a three-week-long break in communication. Ive decided to leave some space for important things to be spoken about after Russias unprovoked act of aggression towards Ukraine. I stand for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine, who are now bravely and tirelessly defending their country against the invader. It is war, and I hope for a fast resolution in Ukraines favour. My publisher has also donated 1 000 000 copies of games for Humble Bundles Charity Bundle for Ukraine, so if you can afford to help, check it out here! However, a break in posting doesnt mean a break in work! Im now polishing the game and making final improvements. Ive expanded the combat system to include more stats for the units. Later in the game, the player may even have a preferred combination of different units, and opponents can pose a more interesting challenge. Im also actively working on a system where the player will gradually claim terrain, which strongly affects the whole gameplay. While expanding throughout the map, the player changes it from volcanic terrain to friendly, grassy planes and only then they can build and terraform the land further. Whats more, Im also reworking the tutorial and I will also make some changes to the setting of the game. If you want to support my game, add it to your wishlist. Stay safe!
Hello, Folks! In one of the previous posts, we explained that building placement is very important in Schorchlands. There are many reasons for this limited space, resource management, etc. There is another reason.
Introducing the bonus system. Each production building has its own set of rules specifying the set of conditions where it works at full capacity. Planning out your colony layout is just as much about production management, as it is about maximizing the performance of each individual building
Some bonuses can be quite straightforward. For example, raw resource producers need to be placed next to their desired resource veins, but this is only the tip of the iceberg.
There is no limit on bonuses that one tile can provide. If you find a very rare but very small resource vein, you can still build and organize a whole colony around it and use it to the fullest.
Thanks to all of this, planning a colony organically turns into an interesting puzzle. It will never be the same each colony will differ from one another depending on the available resource veins, resources available or buildings placed.
Are you up for the challenge?
Hello, Folks!
If you want to help us, wishlist Scorchlands. We appreciate each and every one of you! Stay tuned.

Do you already have a method youll want to try? Remember to wishlist the game, it really helps us out!
See you next time.
Hello, folks!
Today lets talk about resource management, to which our game has quite a unique approach.
Apart from much faster and smoother gameplay, it lets you focus on other features focused around the supply and demand system that you can't usually find in other similar games.
Are you excited to try your hand at managing supply and demand? Wishlist the game!
Hello Folks! Out with the old, in with the new! Happy New Year and lets hope it brings us all prosperity and good fortune. May it be the best year of your life yet.
For these upcoming holidays, we want to wish you all a time full of joy and peace.
Much love, happiness, time spent in a family atmosphere with a smell of gingerbread and hot chocolate in the air. Thank you for being with us!
Hello, Folks!
Youve probably already seen glimpses of different biomes you can encounter in Scorchlands. Today, lets dive deeper.
You start your game on a volcanic planet, so the terrain surrounding you at the beginning of your journey is a wasteland of scorched land and lava. Besides this first biome, there are three more you can create later in your game. Each biome introduces a new set of resources, technologies and a new type of combat equipment.
Hello, Folks! Today we have for you an exciting sneak peek into the gameplay of Scorchlands, where you can see the entire process of summoning the Nexus. [previewyoutube=affPqKlAZkw;full][/previewyoutube] What is the Nexus? In the words of Gunther, it is the pinnacle of Speculative Givi Science. So basically, it does magic. This structure will help to convert the energy of the planet into a different kind of energy, letting you terraform the volcanic landscape. To use the Nexus you need to fuel it. And to fuel it, you need to gather resources and transport it to the structure through the transport lasers network. Build up your colony, gather resources, fuel the Nexus and use it see what biome you can unlock next! Wishlist the game and spread the news among your friends, all this is extremely helpful for an indie studio like us!
Hi Folks!
Today we want to tell you a bit about our main hero! This little guy you control in the game world.
His final design you can see in the picture below:
Our main hero is a character weve most likely spent most of our time on from among all other models. There were many iterations of the design. Below you can see the concept art vs the view for character design.
It was crucial for our hero to be clearly visible from a distance because this is the perspective usually used while playing. But when you do zoom in on your character cuteness overload! We made the character look positive and carefree in both their looks and movement.
Do you like the hero?
While mostly focused on building your colonies and managing production, Scorchlands still features a minimalistic combat system. During your terraforming ventures, your actions will bring to life small armies of monsters that will hang out all over the place
We used the enemies to add variety to the gameplay and challenge you in a slightly different manner. So how do you deal with them?
Like everything else in the game, its all about clever positioning.
In combat, you are joined by additional units. By positioning both yourself and your companions you'll need to corner your opponents while covering each other by sticking together.
The encounters are designed to make you think, and each is like a small puzzle to solve. You're usually up against stronger opponents and your goal is not to kill them all, but to reach the crystal at the center. You don't have to worry about losing and if you can't defeat enemies now, just retreat, upgrade your team and return later with greater forces. The bad guys ain't going anywhere.
What does winning battles give you?
In Scorchlands, your goal is expansion. Winning battles is a way to discover new territories full of opportunities for a growing empire. Its also a nice break from city building that adds variety and spice to the experience.
Howdy!

Greetings, Wizards!
From the moment you launch Scorchlands, its possible that youre going to notice something... different. Despite it being a city builder, you have your representation in the game world. A character that you control--which is a decision we took to create a stronger bond between you and the world.
You control this character using WSAD, and you arent as slow as in so many strategy games, even those which feature a player avatar. Your bird runs at a brisk pace, and as you traverse, the Fog disperses, giving you this great sense of freedom, exploration and discovery.
Well sure hope youll enjoy it!
Hello, Mages!
Today, lets take a quick look at the technology tree. Its quite sprawling, but what we like about it is that you dont wait for your technology to be researched. You choose it - you get it.
This immediacy is in line with the core idea of Scorchalnds, which is playing at your own pace. Whenever you make a decision, the game reacts instantly. You don't wait for a production bar to reach its end, or for resources to be slowly, arduously gathered. It's more about thinking about your next move and making it than about going through the motions in order to see it happen. The pacing depends on you alone.
I hope you will enjoy it!
Greetings, Mages!
In todays update we want to give you a closer look at how terraforming works in Scorchlands and what its function is. But most of all, how we made sure it just feels good to you, the player.
In our game, you reshape the terrain instantly, and anywhere you want. Moreover, later you can relocate the biomes you've made at a whim and any time! You get total control over the terrain you build your cities on.
Its good to think strategically when terraforming. Clever placement of biomes lets you benefit more from their characteristics. As you develop your civilization, you can progress through multiple biomes, each with different advantages.
We wanted to make sure that instant terraforming remains fun and special regardless of how many times you do it. To accomplish this, we took a lot of effort to visually represent the process in an awe-inspiring way. The sound plays a big part, too - when you hear the earth crumbling like its ready to rearrange itself, you know youre dealing with a powerful and mysterious force.
We hope youll enjoy changing the landscape and making it your own. If you like what youve read, consider adding Scorchlands to your wishlist.
Until next time!

Take a look at the world we've made for the game. The fun comes from changing it, and this will be your task. You'll have different biomes, different technologies, and your network of buildings and lasers will probably be arranged in a unique and creative manner. Don't forget to follow our game and add it to your wishlist! It helps us a lot to get more visibility on Steam.
Heres a new detail that weve added to the game: bird colonists just hanging around in your cities. They're not only making the place feel more alive, but also add some extra weight to you actions - structures you build are inhabited, and your decisions impact not only just numbers, but also your people. Its a purely visual addition, but still - little details work wonders for the players immersion. [previewyoutube=1Y5dL329XI0;full][/previewyoutube]
Hi! We'd like to show you a short timelapse from the day-night cycle, which we have recently added. It's a nice detail by itself, but it also lets picture how the landscape evolves as the day progresses on a volcanic planet. It gives completely new looks to the colonies you've created and makes it worthy to stop from time to time and zoom in, check the details and maybe feel a bit more immersed. Well well well!
See what game just got its Kickstarter launch! Its MythBusters: The Game, which is as awesome as it sounds.
[previewyoutube=X_zMiKBilJc;full][/previewyoutube]
Its being developed by Byte Barrel, the biggest nerds weve met (theres always someone wearing a NASA t-shirt, I think its their dress code). They let us play it, and its sweet!
Give it a shot. You can even get the demo! We totally recommend it.
