Hello hello, I know it's been awhile, thank you for your continued support and being a wonderful community! We've been heads down for 2 years working away on this new title, and I'm so glad we can finally start talking about Fera! Yes it's a 3D action RPG but in typical Massive Damage style we had to add our own unique twist to this genre. The village building and villagers in the game are a core element in the game loop, really giving players a sense of leading their tribe and making meangingful lasting changes in the game world. Check out the teaser trailer that premiered on IGN's Opening Night Live post-show on Gamescom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GhFBLoUC_E And if you can, Please Wishlist Fera, it's the best way to help support our development, thank you! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2469200/Fera_The_Sundered_Tribes/ We'll see you in the Fera discussions, we'll do our best to answer any questions. Thank you, The Massive Damage team

Hey Commanders, We're back from our brainstorming cottage retreat (some of you might've seen some cool pics on our social media thingamabobs) fresh with ideas for Halcyon 6 and beyond! This update is a quick patch to fix up a few things with morale and other little bits. There is a much bigger update we're working on but we'll announce that in a bit. Here's today's patch notes:
What's New + Important Changes
- slowed the morale attrition rate by 33% (1 every 10 days instead of 7.5 days)
- Counselor Room tasks to increase Morale are now repeatable but are more costly and difficult every time you complete one, so pace them out accordingly!
Bug Fixes + Enhancements

- Fixed bug with Hull Leech effect

Hello explorers! So, cool story: did you know The Morale Booster update (aka v1.3.1.0) is out right now?
We're back with another milestone update for Halcyon 6 that includes a brand new Crew Morale mechanic! Affected by your decisions in quests, events, and diplomatic actions, Crew Morale levels provides bonuses - or incurs penalties - as you explore.
Onto the details... and there are a lot! This is a big one, folks.
What's New + Important Changes
- New Crew Morale mechanic, receive bonuses (or penalties) depending on current crew's morale. Morale naturally decreases over time but is also increased or decreased based on your actions in events, quests, and diplomatic interactions. - More (20+) random events affecting Morale and even more random travelling events! - Suddenly, greenshirts don't feel quite so 'disposable'... - New Grand Admiral difficulty level! - Even though they are totally awesome and our animator spent weeks and weeks on them, you can now turn off combat animations in the Options menu ːsteamsadː In efforts to reduce some of the grind and give players more choice as to how the game progresses, we've made some changes: - greatly reduced the officer XP requirements for later levels - reduced the resource costs for higher tier Ship Hangar Tech research - doubled officer XP gains for most starbase activities -
The Chruul Lts arrive a bit earlier and can also be taunted to arrive immediately via the Chruul Lab
-
The Chruul Mothership now only appears after you combine all 4 Precursor Artifacts in the Chruul Lab to summon her
Bug Fixes + Enhancements
- You can now build all equipment in the Foundry, after you've discovered it (with the exception of organic Chruul equipment) - Increased the chances of getting equipment other than Omega Drones - Original launch difficulty preferences have been restored - Fixed a bug where the ordering of activities in starbase rooms would get shuffled around - Slightly increased the enemy ship damage across all difficulty levels, to counter the advantages gained from morale bonuses and ship equipment - Resource generation tasks (Materials, Dark Matter, Crew) now automatically repeat until you decide to cancel - Events that give drone rewards no longer trigger until the drone room is built - Added equipment slots to Act3 alien gift ships - Fixed issue with When In Xlar activity (officers can now be assigned to it) - Added a block to officer power distribution to prevent issue where they'd occasionally be added twice - Fixed a bug where the Mothership Hull Leech attack effects were reversed"
Animation + UI
- Improved UI for Ship Equipment screen (including stacking of equipment and a Scrap All option) - Scrapping ships will now return slotted equipment back into the equipment inventory - Cost of emergency station repairs in the Repair Bay have been slightly reduced - Fixed bug with red alert turning off when it shouldn't - You can no longer 'research' ship upgrades via Tech Research - Fixed bug with Cadet Aiming Training 3 not appearing - Fixed bug with invisible pirate ships - Fixed bug with mis-classed Xlar tactical ships - Fixed a bug where new travel events may not trigger for new games - Pirate raids no longer fire in Act 2 if the pirates were wiped out in Act 1 - Removed duplicate Willa from Willa's Wraithers fight - Added expiration timers to pirate away missions - Fixed buff being applied to the wrong army in Marauder fight - Fixed typo in Xlar culinary mission - Fixed typo in New Terran Asteroid description - When you have 2 fleets in a sector enter combat, the stronger of the two fleets will enter combat first - Overkill text has been moved to the left to be more visible - Fixed bug where long save file names would make the UI jump around - After assigning an officer to a resource multiplier activitiy, you will no longer receive a pop-up for completion. Instead, you will receive a notification and the officer will continue the task until you decide to cancel it - When selecting an officer for an activity, all officers at the location (including officers already in a task) will appear on the available officers list. This will allow you to easily switch the officer activity without having to cancel their activity first
Quest + Economy
- Overkill is now slightly easier against higher tiered enemies Remember Commanders: the firings will continue until morale improves! Get out there and have fun already!

What's New + Important Changes
- Starships now can be outfitted with Equipment! Some equipment can be built in the new starbase room, the Foundry and some can be found while adventuring - Station Health replaces Crew Death upon bombardment; Station is destroyed when Station Health (no longer Crew count) reaches 0; Station Health can be repaired in the Repair Bay; - Overkills can be executed in combat by doing excessive damage on the killing blow, which could result in an Equipment reward
Bug Fixes + Enhancements
- Fixed bug with homeworld artifact retrieval after the Chruul Lt. has been killed - Fix for crash after ship combat when the officer is not on board - Fixed a bug with factions not being destroyed probably after becoming extinct - Fixed a bug with the red alert not turning off after a bombardment has been dealt with - Fixed a bug with the Admirax quest not working properly - Sectors now have details which display whether a colony is automated or has been upgraded - New and improved random events while exploring the Halcyon sector - Fixed a couple typos - Fixed a single off pixel in the male officer avatar model that was causing a small blip
Art + Animation
- Improved Fleet Launch and Ship Management screens to accommodate equipment additions - Fleet travel lines have been made more efficient, travelling from the selected fleet to its destination, rather than its point of origin to destination - New Overkill animation for space combat
Mission/Quest + Economy
- Trilithium and Zirordiax Reactors now require the previous reactor tech to be unlocked - An untold number of new random and zany travel events! And as always, thanks for your feedback and reports, explorers. We love hearing from you! Now get out there and save humanity! Much <3 - the Halcyon 6 team.

Happy holidays, Space Explorers!
Welcome to v.1.2.1.0 update! There's a big batch of Fleet UI changes, some fixes and long-awaited Quality of Life stuff, and some fun and frivolous Holiday-In-Space thematic tweaks! Let's get into the details, shall we?
What's New + Important Changes
- Ironman mode is here! Punish yourselves at will, commanders. - We've added credits! (thanks again, backers <3)
Bug Fixes + Enhancement
- Bucky Rogers rides again! Super soldier experiments are back. - Updated scoring system to work with new faction quests, completed plot and difficulty modifiers. - Fixed bug that allowed Chruul and Voraash colonies to be rebuilt. - Alternate endings for alien factions depending on story choices. - Fixed Xlar engineering officer's ship powers so they can level up correctly. - Pirates no longer chatter if the bosses have been wiped out. Awkward.
Animation + UI
- New, improved fleet movement controls on the Starmap. - Drones now look a bit more distinct compared to the normal Federation fleet icons, plus we've updated their "ship" sprites plus resource icons. - Torres no longer has a huge head. Ego: possibly; actual giant melon: no. - Psychic ships are more yellow in colour. - Fleet travel paths are now displayed on the Starmap. - Ship/Officer details in combat now include current status effects. -
New limited-time Holiday-themed backgrounds and art!
Quest + Economy
- Reduced build cost of Satellite Drones by 40%. Time to hang your stockings by the dark matter replicator with care and find out how the Chruul stole Christmas. Good luck out there, Commanders and happy holidays from everyone at Massive Damage!

Some of you might still be working through your Combat & Customization playthroughs. Well, buckle up. This Diplomatic Diversions FREE DLC is a game changer.
FREE Diplomatic Diversions DLC: introducing 25+ faction based missions and quests!
- Whole new landscape: Act 2 has 25+ new missions and quests for all factions - You CAN'T catch them all: with multiple prompts, conditions, and outcomes, these will make each playthrough more diverse and surprising - MOAR Lore: You've grown to love the denizens of Halcyon 6's universe, now you get to know even more! Who they hate, what they worship, who to trust, how they... smell? This new diplomatic content will be available for new and current saves, once you've updated! As is our way, we snuck in a couple other changes with v1.2.0.0: - Some general clean up on text and tooltips - Fix for opening cinematic combat not resolving properly - Fix for Pirate Admirax not leaving your fleet (rude!) Following Act 2 changes won't affect games that are ALREADY in Act 2 (only pre-Chimera games will be affected) - Slowed the pacing down of Act 2 by reducing the frequency of raids from Chruul, Pirates, Voraash, and the alien factions - Slowed down the arrival of Act 2 Chruul lieutenants - Voraash genocide is now a bit tougher and costly to execute It's time to diplo hard or die trying, folks. Make [strike]good[/strike] err, [strike]weird?[/strike] [strike]scientific...[/strike] some choices! Oh yeah.. if you fine folks would be so kind as to NOMINATE Halcyon 6 for the Steam Awards, we'd be eternally grateful!! <3 Love, Halcyon 6 Team

You might have heard us refer to Halcyon 6 as a love letter to the games we used to play and how it scratches a nostalgic-sized itch. So teaming up with IndieBox to offer a special, physical Collector's Edition of Halcyon 6 was a no-brainer. It was written in the stars!
The Halcyon 6 box comes with some unique collectibles (no hints, but we've seen the goodies and they're good), the Halcyon 6 Original Soundtrack, an instruction manual, a Steam key, a fancy game box, AAAAND a DRM-free copy of the game on a disc.
If you want to get in on this action, now is your chance: subscribe by November 18th at 11:59 PM EST to get one.
Seriously, though. Look at that box, people.

We’ve been reading and listening and here’s what we heard: you dig Halcyon 6 but [insert thing here] could be soooo much cooler! After addressing your feedback on resource collection in v1.0.0.4 - Hello Satellite Drones! - our focus was on combat.
The Combat and Customization Update is here! Our main goals for this combat update:
- We wanted to address some of the player concerns regarding space combat, specifically the complaints about how repetitive and grindy it can get in the latter half of the game.
- Increase challenge and make combat more strategic and varied
- Reduce grind, reduce punishment for losses and mistakes
- Improve player agency, make player choices matter
To that end, we’re super stoked about the major changes you’ll see in v1.1.0.0:
-
Ship Customization!
You can now customize Terran starships, completely changing their power load outs to create your own unique fleet compositions -
New Officer Cloning Chamber!
Clone your dead Officers and bring them back, almost as good as when they died, with the help of Crew “volunteers” Colony Facility Rebuilding!
You can now rebuild ruined colony facilities from the View Sector screen

Hello explorers!
We know we thank you all A LOT for your thoughts and feedback about Halcyon 6, but we mean it. We’ve been reading and listening and here’s what we heard: you dig Halcyon 6 but [insert thing here] could be soooo much cooler! After addressing your feedback on resource collection in v1.0.0.4 - Hello Satellite Drones! - our focus was on combat.
It’s here! The Combat and Customization BETA is here!

Wanna try it? Wanna try it NOW!? YOU TOTALLY CAN. The Combat and Customization update is available now as a BETA update.
Starting today, we're introducing our Playing With Fire BETA updates. Different than a regular ready-for-prime-time updates, these Playing With Fire updates are experimental builds designed to showcase new content that we're working on and gather feedback from our players. Choosing to download and test drive a Playing With Fire version of Halcyon 6 is completely optional and, in the interest of full disclosure, these development versions may have bugs or some unfinished features. But, it's a cool chance to provide your feedback to us before development is finalized. Tell us everything: What's overpowered? What the hell did that thing just do? What's confusing? What is amazing and should never, ever change? If you'd rather just play the game in its finished state, awesome. You don't need to do anything! You'll still see Halcyon 6's regular updates and patch notes. However, if you want to switch to the Playing With Fire version, do this: [olist]
- We've created a new sub forum for these BETA builds.
- Saves are not (really) transferrable between the live version and the BETA version.
- While you can use a live version save to start a BETA game, you can't transfer that BETA save back to the live version.
- Once a Playing With Fire version leaves BETA and hits public release, you STILL can't transfer that BETA save back to the live version.
- As noted, it's a development version of the game: you might find bugs and you may encounter unfinished features. This is theoretically part of the fun. If that doesn't sound fun to you, perhaps reconsider the whole Playing With Fire thing.

Hello Folks! Yep, it's time for v1.0.0.8! While this is a smaller housekeeping/quality of life-type update, it DOES include one of your much-requested changes: Starbase rooms can now be scrapped! General Bug Fixes and Enhancements: - Starbase rooms can now be scrapped, freeing up space to build new and different rooms! - Fixed a bug where an under-construction satellite drone could be deployed for use. - Corrected event timers to show the earliest possible destruction time when multiple fleets were present at a sector. - Introducing Suki Sissoko and her all new legendary officer quest. - Fixed bug with missions not clearing after being raided. Art & Animation & UI: - General animation timing tweaks and fixes. Ships/Officers & Powers: - Corrected available skills/power list for Genevieve Nguyen. Short and sweet, folks! But this paves the way for the larger Combat and Customization update that is coming up really, really soon. We're trying something a little different with this next update, so be sure to check in here for all the details. As always, thanks for sharing your thoughts and have fun out there!

Hello Commanders! Fresh on the heels of v1.0.0.4 and v1.0.0.5, make room for the appropriately numbered v1.0.0.6! We've been deep in the forums and your reviews, gathering feedback about those little quality of life changes and tweaks you'd like to see. While we can't incorporate every suggestion we receive, we have tried to find and address the common themes or points of confusion we've seen. Be sure to let us know what you think. We're listening! General Bug Fixes and Enhancements: - Starbase rooms now give a more clear indication that they are under attack. - Fixed a bug that would occasionally crash combat when the player's ship was destroyed. - Fixed duplicate officers from being offered in the same playthrough. - Fixed a bug with Corbain Lau missing some combat skills. - Fixed a bug displaying multiple notifications when an Officer levelled up. Art/Animation & UI: - Room construction screen now displays current number of rooms already built of that type. - An alert is displayed on Starbase rooms, while zoomed out, to indicate rooms under attack. - Difficulty setting now displayed on the in-game menu. - Tweaks to the turn-order indicator. - Tightened up a number of space and ground combat animations. Ships/Officers & Powers: - Optional Inneborg Xiao rescue mission now has an expiry date on the 2nd part. - Alien faction officers now have biographies. If you've shared something with us and you don't see it here, don't fret. We've got one - maybe two - more updates planned before the end of October. Most notably, these updates will include a) the ability to scrap rooms in the base and b) some pretty significant changes to combat on a number of levels: tactics, balance, powers, ships, you name it. Our goal is to keep the best of Halcyon 6 intact but address concerns about combat feeling repetitive or too grindy. As always, thanks for sharing your thoughts and have fun out there!

We meet again, space travellers...
As we mentioned in our recent Dev Transmission and the v.1.0.0.2 patch notes, we've been one part amazed and excited about Halcyon 6's reception and one part nose to the grindstone. In case you missed it, v1.0.0.3 was released last week, with some quick changes to the end-game.
That makes this update v1.0.0.4! Let's get to the goodies: SPACE CHORES NO MORE! While resource automation was always part of the mid-game, we hear you. It was a little later than some of you would have liked. We'd like you to meet Satellite Drones...
What's New + Important Changes:
- Introducing New Satellite Drones that can be researched, built, and deployed to automate resource gathering. (NOTE: you'll see these for saved games in Act 1 and new games only. Existing games in Act 2 will have the "old" version of automation.)
- Act 2 no longer automates resource generation, it must be established using Satellite Drones (games in Act 1 and new games only).
- You can now Upgrade a Facility's storage capacity and resource generation (new games only).
General Bug Fixes and Enhancements:
- Fixed bug with Acolyte Predator Ship Upgrade not registering after research.
- Random aliens no longer attack colonies too early in Act 1.
- Pirate Mining Fleet disappears correctly when returning to Grus.
- Alien colony rescue missions are still clearable after the Mothership appears or the faction is killed.
- Pirate base assault can no longer fire at the same time as the Admirax battle.
- If a colony is destroyed by the pirates or the Voraash instead of the Chruul, any pending rescue missions are now removed from that sector.
- Lt. Starstabber's arrival is now hinted to after killing all three pirate commanders.
- Added additional check to prevent unresponsive colony edge case if a raider fleet is destroyed at the same time as a colony rescue mission expires.
- Fixed a bug with ruined colonies not stopping time when first discovered.
- Fixed an improper event dialogue type on the way to fighting the Admirax.
UI, Art & Animation:
- Created new animation for the tactical cloaking power.
- Fixed ground combat background that had foreground asset overlapping officers during combat.
- Fixing the speed and status effect timing of various animations (currently 39 animations affected)!
- Added new tab hot key to allow players to cycle through their fleets on the starmap.
- Quitting the game now prompts for a save.
- Upon entering ground combat, squadmates are prepopulated for convenience. #GreenShirtWorldProblems
- You can now cancel ship constructions for a full refund.
- Quick Save (F8) and Quick Load (F9)
- Fixed an issue where the artifact rooms had light peeking out above their room frame.
Quests/Missions & Economy::
- Prevented Spire from interrupting fleets passing through the sector.
- Chruul Portal Defense fleets now scale in strength.
- Expired missions clear immediately from the mission list.
Ships/Officers & Powers:
- Saving Cmdr Xiao - fixed bug with retreating from first contact, and she now gets the proper level as given by Officer Academy Upgrades.
- No more Empowered Systems effects in ground combat.
- Fixed a bug where max levelled powers would sometimes not appear in combat.
- Status effects that add up to over 100% damage reduction are now capped at 100%.
- Lowered costs for T1 and T2 Ship Upgrades.
There are some much requested features in this one, folks and there is still more to come. Be sure to let us know your thoughts! Good luck out there, commanders.

Hello explorers! As we mentioned in our recent Dev Transmission, it's been an amazing week for us and we're humbled by the reception that Halcyon 6 has received! Our whole team has been SO excited watching all the feedback and vids and tweets and streams pop up. But, amidst all of that, we've been working on this v1.0.0.2 patch! Let's get to the details... What's New + Important Changes: - Material, Dark Matter, and Crew generation activities on the starbase are now easily repeatable from the completion dialog. - New "Lock Frame Rate" toggle in the Graphics Options. -
Chruul Mothership is now resistant to certain statuses.
Mwuahaha. - Sped up duration and resolution times for a number of animations in general, all over the place. - Reduced the required officer rank for starbase rooms at the outer edge (**new games only). - Added a tutorial step that clearly defines station bombardment = crew loss and crew loss = very bad news for the station. General Bug Fixes and Enhancements: - Fixed a bug where identically-named star systems were being generated and would remain invisible. - Fixed an overlap bug where two star systems had the same coordinates. - Fixed a typo in the tutorial that referenced the Construct Ship button as Build Ship. - Fixed bug with Inneborg Xiao not having any skills on arrival (**can only fix for new rescues of Xiao). - Fixed bug with multiple Material and Dark Matter Multiplier activities conflicting with each other (*can only fix newly created multiplier rooms). - No more Bucky Rogers clones (but that was fun while it lasted). - Fixed a bug where ships could travel without required fuel (also fun while it lasted). - Fixed an issue where retreating from the Mothership triggered a black screen. - Fixed bug with random Chruul raids insta-destroying colonies on arrival or before their deadline. - Fixed bugs with Expand The Fleet mission not resolving properly (**this fix will correct existing saves). - Added rewards to some missions that were missing them. - Fixed an issue where the Chruul Tac Tier 5s didn't have the right initial pre-damage sprite. - Fixed an issue where the Zirordiax Reactor had a duplicate background. - Fixed music de-sync'ing issues. Finally. We're pretty sure. - Some minor text changes for clarity, along with some typo fixes. - Faction delegations no longer turn away if a Terran fleet is stationed at Starbase. - Sector 'Cnidus' no longer shows up before it should be revealed (being that early is just rude). Art & Animation: - Resolved animation issue that caused ships to (rarely but sometimes) get stuck in the middle of the screen. - Updated/altered some animations: mostly tightening up positioning and adjusting single target and AOE animations. - Fixed an issue where ship contruction animation was displaying the wrong ships, or not displaying them at all. Ships/Officers & Powers: - Increased the starting rerolls for second Officer to 2. - End game ally faction ships have been upgraded significantly. - Engineering Ship powers have increased Threat. - End game ally officers can now only pilot their own faction ships. Folks, thanks again for sharing these with us and thanks for your patience while we worked through them. Now get back out there and kick some Chruul butt!

Oh my stars. It's been an amazing week for us and we're humbled by the reception that Halcyon 6 has received! We've been pouring over forum posts and Let's Plays and Twitch Streams and trying to take in all your feedback and commentary - and we are loving every minute of it. But, as we said in our launch post: we've only just begun... So, what's next? v1.0.0.1 drops this week: We'll be pushing out an update to fix the bugs you've told us about and we've squeezed in just a couple of those much requested enhancements. Expect the update today or tomorrow along with full patch notes. And yes, you will be able to properly complete the Expand Your Fleet quest and bump the game up to 60fps. Thanks for letting us know about these folks, and thanks for your patience while we worked through them. In the next couple weeks, we'll be addressing some of the most requested Quality of Life fixes. There's a whole bunch of stuff on the list, but most notably: - We will introduce an improved resource collection process in the early game (spoiler:
resource collection was always automated in the mid game, but we've heard you loud and clear - running your officers from sector to sector isn't very fun for very long
) - You'll be able to scrap rooms (in some fashion) so you won't run out of expansion space - You'll be able to cancel activities in progress, like ships being built (with some amount of resource loss that we'll figure out soon) - A bunch of other cool stuff! Just a little further out on the horizon, we're planning a properly interesting content and feature update. Along with some of our Kickstarter promises, this is the update where we'll tackle one of the chief complaints we've heard about Halcyon 6: combat can feel a little boring or repetitive. We've heard you, and we've already hammering away at changes that will still ring true with the spirit of the game, but hopefully add a bit more intrigue and decision making to combat. We are a small but ferocious team that prefers to leave our development doors wide open, so to speak. You'll be hearing from us about our progress and how all these changes and new ideas are shaping up. We welcome your feedback along the way! Thanks again for all your support. Remain ever vigilant, commrades: The federation needs you.

Hey everyone,
We're super excited to launch our game today! First off, a big THANK YOU to all our Kickstarter backers and Early Access players who supported us early on and truly helped to improve the game throughout our development cycle!
Our first priority over the next little while is squashing bugs and fine tuning our balance. For those on Linux, please bear with us as we're sorta noobs to that platform, we're in the process of getting some help from knowledgeable people to fix any of the issues you might be facing.
After the dust settles from our launch, we'll be prioritizing the stretch goals that were promised in the Kickstarter. Yes, there's plenty of more stuff coming down the pipe!
By the way, our soundtrack is now available for purchase.. our composer Steve London truly outdid himself and laid down over 55 minutes of sweet syth+chiptune+orchestra rich tracks to enjoy!
Thanks from all of us at Massive Damage!

Hey everyone,
I just wanted to give you all a heads up regarding tomorrow afternoon's deployment of our Pre-Release Update.. this will be the full game available for Early Access players to try out (and give us feedback in the forums, please!).
And yes, this update will invalidate your old saves since developing Act 2 and 3 have greatly changed the game systems. Going forward, we will try very hard to avoid save stomping.
As of tomorrow, you are free to record videos and stream the full game but we do have a review embargo that lasts until Sept 8th.
As mentioned in our previous update, after launch, we still intend to continue creating a ton of content to fulfill our Kickstarter stretch goals and Backer Rewards. A more detailed schedule will be published once we prioritize things post-launch.
Thanks so much for your love, patience and support! We wouldn't be here without it!
Ken and the Halcyon 6 team

Hey everyone, we've got a quick update on the release date as it's been pushed back a bit but we're locked into this new date:
Halcyon 6 Release Date: Sept 9, 2016
We know a lot of you are anxious to play the full game and we're just as anxious to get it into your hands but we need the extra time to give it a bit more love and polish. We've also hired the wonderful people at EvolvePR to help us with our launch as this is our first PC game release and we don't want to completely mess it up haha. After our Sept 9 launch, we'll continue to keep working hard on all those stretch goals and Kickstarter backer rewards. Once those have been prioritized, we will post an estimated schedule for their release. Thanks for your patience and your support! Halcyon 6 Team

Hey everyone, here's an update on our launch plans: We're leaving Early Access and launching Halcyon 6 on August 26th! About a week before that, we'll have an early build including Act 2 and Act 3 for everyone to play. We'll likely be patching fast and furiously during that week so if you want to wait until the dust settles and play after launch, we totally understand that. Mostly, we wanted to give our Early Access players an opportunity to try the full game a bit earlier. As you recall, the Act 2 + 3 update will not support older saves. Our apologies but enough stuff was changed that it was simply not possible to keep the old save file structure intact. Right now, we're working like crazy to get all of this ready for launch. Thanks to all of you who joined in our Kickstarter and/or Early Access, we really the support and encouragement the last year and a half! Thanks, Halcyon 6 Team

First a quick but hearty shoutout to all the new Starbase Commanders that joined us during the Steam Summer Sale!
Welcome to Halcyon sector, don’t let the Chruul get you down, we got your back!
This update is all about UI and gameplay tweaks. And there’s a TON of them. Instead of babbling on, let’s get right to the patch notes!
New Features and Big Changes

- We've also introduced a new targeting menu, which gives you a breakdown on the hit chances, effect chances, expected damage, etc. of using the power.
- Fleet configurations now save on the fleet launch screen, so you don't have to assemble them from scratch each time anymore.
- Fixed a bug where "Disabled" units might still be able to get an attack in if it was already queued up by the combat clock
- Fixed a bug where certain starbase activities wouldn't be properly resolved on completion.
- Fixed a rounding display error in fuel resource levels that caused confusion whereby you confusingly couldn't travel to a location that you had the exact fuel for.
- Ship Construction UI Improvements
- New targeting display support for Space and Ground Combat
- New Alerts System allowing players to view their Missions, Notifications and Events from an Alerts Menu Bar
- The officers and enemies involved in starbase pop-up events now appear on the left and right side of the screen, respectively.

Greetings Federation Starbase Commanders, Hot on the heels of Officers Unleashed, v0.2.0.2 is preparing to land! In this update, we've tinkered with difficulty, speed, and powers and made some more Quality of Life changes. Your current saves aren't affected in this update: 0.2.0.0+ play throughs are intact and supported. In case you missed it, we released v0.2.0.1 as a hotfix earlier this week, which corrected an officer that was appearing in game without his powers. Poor Zulf and his memory wipe. We appreciate your feedback, folks. Thanks again for all your posts and reports! General Bug Fixes and Enhancements: - Various typo fixes in powers. - Repair Drone Overdrive II and III had incorrect number of uses. - Propulsion Lab now contains Transwarp Drive Improvement activities (improve your fleet's travel time!). - Fixed bug with tasks leaking into other rooms on the starbase. Icky. - Save files can now be tagged with a custom label! Quest/Mission & Economy: - We heard you: The Chimera and its minions now travel much slower towards the station, allowing more time to prepare for its arrival. - The Chruul fleets now travel slightly slower towards their targets. - The Yabblings fleet speed has been increased. - Reduced strength of Spire ground combat squad, as well as other higher level space monsters. Ships/Officers & Powers: - Slightly reduced the damage of enemy Tier 3 ships. - Slightly improved effectiveness of Repair Drone Overdrive. - Supercharge Polarity is once again an AoE attack. Thank you all so much for supporting us during our Early Access! We're working super hard on getting Act 2 and Act 3 out there. As noted in the v0.2.0.0 patch notes, we hope to exit Early Access in the late August to early September timeframe. To New Terra and beyond!
[ 2016-06-16 16:19:08 CET ] [ Original post ]
Greetings Federation Starbase Commanders,
Welcome to our first MAJOR update, OFFICERS UNLEASHED! This is v0.2.0.0 of Halcyon 6: Starbase Commander.

Quick note before we get to the goodies:
As you know Halcyon 6 is still in Early Access. That means we are counting on your feedback to help us make this game as awesome as it can be. We've done a HUGE amount of tweaks to the game and you'll likely come across something you don't agree with.. and that's fine, we want to hear about it in the Discussion Forums. Our goal here is to use this time in Early Access to really fine tune our balance and gameplay so please, check out Officers Unleashed and let us know your thoughts and feedback. We'll be watching, listening and taking notes!

Hey everyone, This is a quick note to let you know our big update, Officers Unleashed is arriving this Thursday, June 9th. As detailed in our previous announcement, this update will invalidate your current save games.
There's been so many system changes that we are simply unable to support old saves.
The tech tree, the starbase layout, officer powers, alien resistances and powers etc.. have all been changed and/or tweaked. And of course the new Research Task system that will make more use of officers staying at the starbase. Good news is that this is going to feel quite a bit different than the previous version enough that a new start won't feel repetitive. For example, your 3rd and 4th officers will be unlocked much much faster than before. However, if you really want to finish up a current run, you can disable auto-updates from Steam before Thursday. The full patch notes and screenshots for Officers Unleash will be posted on Thursday! See you Thursday! - Halcyon 6 Team

It's been almost a month since we've launched Halcyon 6 in Early Access and while we were going to end the Early Bird pricing tomorrow the 21st (exactly 1 month), we've decided to extend it a few more days to the 24th! So tell your friends, this will give them a chance to grab a copy at our current Early Bird pricing just before our Officers Unleashed update comes out!
And here's some more details on Officers Unleashed:
- officers have personality traits that can be beneficial or harmful in random events and away missions.
- more officers unlocked earlier
- officers can do research and training tasks in various starbase facilities to unlock benefits
- some research can lead to events which will need your officer’s wit and traits to resolve
- streamlined tech tree (some stuff has been moved to research tasks)
- skill point system will allow better customization of officers as they level up
- streamlined combat animations (we went through all of them and removed weird delays and tightened up most animations)
- some early away missions are in, better make sure your ground combat skills are up to snuff!
- and last but not least, we'll have more balance tweaks, bug fixes and polish
And don't forget, due to all the changes to major systems, Officers Unleashed update will not support old saves. You will have to start a new game.
If for some reason, you want to keep your old save for a little longer (and miss out on Officers Unleashed and further updates), you can turn AutoUpdate OFF. We don't recommend this as this game is in Early Access and you will want all the updates.. there's quite a few more planned, including Act 2 and Act 3 of course. We can't wait to get this update out, we're furiously internally testing it right now. Keep your eyes on this space :) Cheers! Halcyon 6 Team

Hello Early Access players! It's been an exciting few weeks since PAX East and our Early Access launch! How did the launch go? Well read on, Starbase Commanders, read on!
Launch Report
Launch is always a nerve wrecking experience. The whole team was distracted for a couple of days watching the sales reports on Steam, reading the early reviews and watching charts, like Steamspy, religiously. We were lucky to be standing in the sales charts with some much bigger games like Banner Saga 2, Master of Orion and Cities: Skyline. All launches have this initial sales spike and the long tail afterwards. Average Early Access titles sell about 8000 copies total in the first 14 months (according to this Steamspy post) and thanks to you, we've already hit more that amount in less than 3 weeks.
Next Steps and Road to Full Release
What's next? Well, we're going to keep pushing towards the Final Release of the game as soon as possible! There will be TWO major updates to the game, the first is Officers Unleashed and the second will contain Acts 2 and 3 together. In between these major updates, we'll be pushing smaller updates to fix bugs, UI issues, polish and 'quality of life' tweaks to make the game better. Once the two major updates are out, we'll launch the Full Release version of the game. After the Full Release, we'll work on immediate stuff like Linux version and the Kickstarter stretch goals (as promised!). So, onto the next major update...
Officers Unleashed!
From the beginning, officers were always an integral part of our game design. We're adding to what we launched in our Early Access build to give players more customization and more control over their officers. First up is levelling up an officer. In Officers Unleashed, you'll be earning skill points as you gain levels and you can go to this screen to spend those skill points however you like. Be it upgrading an existing power or training in a brand new one, the choice is yours. http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=682490515 We're also revamping our Tech Tree and moving some upgrades to trainable upgrades that may not need as much resources but simply an officer and time to unlock in the new Officer Academy room: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=682492304 Also in the Officers Unleashed update, we'll be adding Away Missions on planetary surfaces and enemy strongholds. Of course this means more stuff for your officers to do.. we'll be adding more officers into the earlier portions of the game to balance it out. And of course there will be lots of tweaks and balancing as well. We're aiming to get Officers Unleashed out for late May/early June timeframe and yes this is a huge change to the major areas of the game so old saves will not work. As with any major update, we'll be needing you to help us playtest and provide us that valuable feedback that you've been giving during our Alpha, Beta and Early Access phase. Thanks again for supporting us in this journey, we're so proud that we were able to deliver a good experience in Early Access to both our backers and our new players from Steam and we can't wait to get Officers Unleashed, then Acts 2 and 3 into your hands. - Halcyon 6 Team

v0.1.0.3 HOTFIX: - Fixed Chimera mission bugs. - Fixed a bug with 'zombie fleets' causing errors on load. As discussed in our patch approach notes, this is a Quality of Life patch: your saved games are intact and won't be marked Legacy.
What's New
- Retreat from Space Combat! In over your head? Now you can tuck your tail between your legs and bug out. However, be prepared to take some damage as you make your hasty getaway. - Alien Factions are now resistant and vulnerable to specific status effects (ie. Chruul ships are resistant to Weapons Disruption but more vulnerable to Hull Breached). - Ship Affinity Bonuses now grant bonus resistance to status effects instead of slightly nonsensical bonuses versus alien races you haven't even fought yet. - You can now rename your Ships! - You can also rename your Green Shirts, for their admittedly short lives. (RIP Cadet Pickles. We barely knew you.) - Greenshirts have gained new and juicy ways to die. Keep an eye out for them! - Trading Cards are now available for Halcyon 6!
General Bug Fixes and Enhancements

Gone!
Quest/Mission & Economy
- Slightly reduced frequency of Chruul Portal fleet spawns. - Slightly increased Chruul Portal spawn rates once all destroyed. - Revamped sector descriptions. - Various and sundry, yet subtle, balance tweaks.
Ships/Officers & Powers
- Increased damage for Shield Disruptor. - Slightly increased damage for Upload Virus. - Decreased resist % for almost all powers. - Slightly reduced Weapons Overloaded damage increase. - Reduced recovery time on Doom Cannon power. - Drone Swarm now nullifies buffs. - Green Shirts have 25% more Health. Have fun out there!

Yep, it's 0.0.3.0! We've nailed down a lot of stuff in this one. What's New: - Sector facilities now display an indicator when they are at full capacity. They also display more information in their tooltips if you hover over the facility icon. - Game saves prior to 0.0.3.0 are now legacy save files. You'll need to START A NEW GAME to take advantage of all these cool updates. General Bug Fixes and Enhancements: - Fixed bug with tutorial starbase bombardment not displaying red alert. - Fixed bug with Green Shirts levelling up (aww, they thought they were people). - Fixed bug with Fuel Plant not giving out fuel during event. - Fixed bug with Korzan Zealot Debate fleet attacking before dialog. - Fixed bug with Tier 2 and 3 alien ships not spawning in late game (gird your loins). - Fixed bug where Chimera Minion fleets defeats weren't being noticed by the event system. - Made all tutorial pop-ups and dialogues clickable, rather than time-based. - Fixed Chruul Spire backgrounds. - Removed Fuel rewards from raiding pirate fleets. - Fixed bug with Chruul Lab mission not completing. - Salvage Harpoon now correctly inflicts Vulnerable instead of Weapons Disrupted. FYI: v0.0.2.1 was a hotfix that saw some animation changes for low resolution. But that's old news. This is 0.0.2.2! You'll be able to update to this err, update in Steam shortly. Here's the good stuff:
What's New:
- The Green Shirts are coming! You'll never have to fight alone again on the starbase, because now you can enlist your crew to fight alongside your Officers! They're not nearly as strong though but they make great meat shields! - New Ship Class: The Terran Shuttle! Chruul got you down? Did they wipe out your fleet? Build a cheap Terran Shuttle to fly to your colonies and collect resources to claw your way back to victory! - Game saves prior to 0.0.2.2 are now legacy save files. You'll need to START A NEW GAME to take advantage of all these cool updates, like the still-vicious-but-now-more-manageable Chruul.
General Bug Fixes and Enhancements:
- Opening scrawl and tutorial no longer auto-advances, instead all text requires a click to advance. - Fixed events that were clobbering each other when they happened at the same time. There will be some slight delays now between events to safe guard further against this. - Suicide Run II and III now nullify exploit. - Fixed bug with alien faction fleets not returning home properly. - Fixed bug where mission indicators were not being cleared on the map.
Quest/Mission & Economy:
- Chruul progression and advancement through the system has been reduced dramatically. - Reduced the cost of researching and building the Fuel Refinery, but also reduced its daily output. - Minor tweaks here and there. Also over there.
Ships/Officers & Powers:
- Modified Teleport Explosives damage, and now displays exploit. - Grombulus base monster's heal is now slightly more effective. - Slightly reduced effectiveness of Weapons Overloaded. Have fun out there!

The Game
On the edge of Terran space lies Halcyon 6, a derelict starbase left behind by a mysterious precursor race. Your mission is to reclaim the derelict station and rebuild it.A mysterious alien force is making a beeline towards Earth and this starbase is the best chance for the New Terran Federation to establish new alliances, research new technologies and otherwise figure out a way to stop the impending invasion.
Using only the resources you can salvage from the derelict station and gathered from nearby star systems, it’s up to you to rebuild the starbase to lead the Terran Republic’s scientific research, exploration and diplomatic efforts on the edge of known space.
Halcyon 6 is a passion project who’s design is inspired by our years spent playing classic games like Star Control, Master of Orion, X-COM, Civilization and new classics like FTL.
Features:
- Base Building: spend resources to build station facilities (rooms) to enhance your production and technological capabilities, or build ships to help you control more territory
- Exploration: assign your fleets to nearby star clusters, where they can handle emerging enemy threats, do missions for alien factions or secure bonus resources
- Crew Management: assign crew to station facilities to greatly improve their output efficiency, or to ships where they can contribute in unique ways to combat, missions and events
- Deep Tactical Combat: fight tactical ship or ground battles to resolve hostile events, create a foothold in the sector and ultimately defeat the enemy mothership!
- Story Events: based on game criteria like rooms-built, alien diplomacy scores or officer traits/skills, the game will produce story events (often with multiple choice outcomes) that can lead to combat, time-related applied bonuses/negatives, officer attribute changes or any number of crazy in-game stories.
Project Goals
Unlimited Replayability: Each playthrough has players dealing with a new randomly generated derelict station, surrounding galaxy, crew recruits, and alien factionsMotley Crew: Each crew member has unlimited potential for acquiring unique behaviours, traits and abilities, for better or for worse. Making the best use of your dysfunctional crew will be one of the keys to success. Who should be your main Science Officer? The insomniac that works insane hours but has an addictive personality or the agoraphobic mad genius?
Encounters of the Weird Kind: There are 6 alien factions in Halcyon 6 and they are all quite different with varying objectives and personalities. Only your wit and your crew’s skills will help you navigate the diplomatic waters to gain them as key allies or valuable trading partners.
