Greetings Hamlet Dwellers! We are pushing a new build to 'coming_in_hot' on Steam for Darkest Dungeon. This build has only a few changes since the original 64-bit build was deployed. Based on reports from you all we have reverted FMOD to the previous version due to the incompatibility it created with many mods, and the unlikely nature that those mods would be updated. While this does re-introduce some rare crashes that can occur, we felt this was the safer course of action given what we are trying to accomplish. We wanted to add a special shout out to Cood Alume (aka Void Slime) from our Discord. He helped us test mods (mostly his own) against the update and was very helpful in investigating the issue. Changelog for the build:
Greetings Hamlet Dwellers! We are pushing a new build to coming_in_hot on Steam for Darkest Dungeon. This build is the culmination of the past few months as we wanted to do some slight updates to the game to solve some longstanding issues as well as release a 64-bit version of the client. Coming back and working on Darkest Dungeon has been a delight. That said we are very conscious of the robust mod community that has been thriving since principal development has ceased. As such weve done our best to ensure that the work weve done has not had any adverse impact on the existing mods. A big feature of this work has been in preparing and testing a 64 bit version of the game. This has the added benefit of the game running slightly better for everyone! And if you are using mods you can now go even crazier with the amount of mods you load and play with. Weve been working with the team on Black Reliquary to test and validate this new build, but we are now ready to push it to a larger pool of players to help ensure stability. In addition to that weve fixed the following issues: Random crashes caused by incorrect null pointers (basically, less random crashes) Abbey Help Window is Missing Texts Windowed Resolution Scale Differs on 32bit Build From the None Beta Player Able to Duplicate Trinkets While Dragging Them From Slot to Inventory Duplicating Items When Looting Treasure During any Quest We STRONGLY recommend that before you switch to the branch and receive the update, you back up your save files! After you switch branches on STEAM you will be given the option when launching the game if you want to use the new 64 bit client or the new 32 bit client. We kindly ask you to switch over and assist in testing and let us know if you hit any issues.
This squalid Kingdom, these corrupted lands, they are yours now, and you are bound to them.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/3205310/Darkest_Dungeon_II_Inhuman_Bondage/
This DLC introduces a new mini-region, The Catacombs, and a new playable hero to Darkest Dungeon II, the fan favourite and original Kickstarter backer-assisted designed character: The Abomination.
[previewyoutube=x3mYUXqbFNI;full][/previewyoutube]
The Catacombs invite players to plunge their stagecoach beneath the Kingdom to face a corrosive, oozing threat. This is a high risk, high reward region featuring a faction of new enemies and new items, and brings variety and challenge to both 'Confessions' and Kingdoms.
Unleash the beast within! The Abomination makes his return to the Darkest Dungeon series. This reclusive alchemist comes with a unique battle mechanic, allowing him to transform into a fearsome monstrosity - at the risk of spiraling stress!
Hello everyone, Its been a while! We wanted to let everyone know that we have just pushed a new build for Darkest Dungeon to the coming_in_hot branch. The purpose of this build is to get us a step closer to releasing a unified binary to all our storefronts. Some of you may know that our GOG and Epic builds are not the same as what is available on Steam and this build is part of our effort to rectify that situation. This build does NOT contain any other fixes. Well keep this build up on the coming_in_hot branch for at least a few weeks to ensure stability. We have been testing many of the popular mods to ensure compatibility, but we want to give a period of time to soak test this new build and catch any issue we may have introduced. We would appreciate it if you could help test it out during that time to make sure everything works as intended. Known Issue: If you are using Ubuntu and got your Steam client installed through "App Install" (also called SNAP), the game won't start. To fix this, there are two possible solutions, but for both you will need to use terminal: Solution 1: uninstall Steam from snap:

This offer ends September 19th at 10am PT. In other news, Darkest Dungeon II had it's first free themed update since launch - Chirurgeon's Table - just one month ago. In addition to a new location, two new minibosses, 6 new champion enemies, and completely overhauled torch and Infernal Flames, we are happy to announce that this update also contained both gamepad and Steam Deck support! These features have been frequently requested since launch, and we were happy to get them into our players hands. Our team is excited for everyone to experience the first of many updates we have planned for Darkest Dungeon II, but we have grand plans for the road ahead. We are steadily working towards hero origin skins, mod support, and other quality of life improvements. Additionally, we are also focusing on new features that will help improve some of the areas that receive the most lukewarm or negative feedback. Specifically we want to continue to improve the sense of agency and dynamism (reduce some areas of RNG) plus add more variety and replayability. We look forward to sharing details with you as these features approach completion. We love this game, and will continue to keep making it better and better. Thanks for your support.
The time has come to face your failures. Darkest Dungeon II is available now on Steam! A limited time bundle called The Iron Crown is available which includes both Darkest Dungeon and Darkest Dungeon II for 25% off. With Steams complete my bundle functionality, existing owners of the first game will be able to purchase the sequel at the discounted price. Note: Steam Cloud Save is not yet implemented for the 1.0 release. We plan to add it in the very near future. Apologies for the inconvenience. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1940340/Darkest_Dungeon_II/
Darkest Dungeon II releases here on Steam in just under 1 week! https://store.steampowered.com/app/1940340/Darkest_Dungeon_II/ Many of you got a glimpse of the game during Steam Next Fest. We want to send a massive thank you to those who played our demo in February and sent us feedback. Based on your comments, we made a number of improvements to our driving system, the Valley and first time user experience - along with a huge swath of new content and features. We wanted to take this opportunity to discuss what you can expect on May 8th, and beyond. At launch the game will feature 12 playable characters with a complete narrative featuring 5 acts. Each act is a challenging expedition in which you assemble a party of four heroes and then navigate a series of deadly regions in a quest to reach the Mountain, which houses an imposing end boss themed to that particular Confession. The final two acts and our blight-fueled 12th playable character, The Flagellant, will be new to our 1.0 release. You can also expect to see corpse art, hero palettes, weapon kits, radiant and infernal flames, achievements and a plethora of other features on May 8th. Were not done yet, either. The original Darkest Dungeon was well supported post-launch with the addition of town events, radiant mode, and multiple new enemies. Our approach is the same with Darkest Dungeon II. The 1.0 Steam launch represents a new phase of development for the game. Looking forward, we have a number of free updates planned that range from content to quality-of-life. Weve already committed to new monsters (the Collector and the Gaunt Chirurgeon - more on that enemy here), playable hero origin skins, and of course, ongoing balance and tuning based on your feedback. Modding support is also something the team is very passionate about. As many of you know, modding has been an incredible part of the Darkest Dungeon community and it's something that we are eager to bring to Darkest Dungeon II. Weve got a lot of great ideas to facilitate your ability to get creative! Like we did on the original Darkest Dungeon, we are planning to devote time to developing modding tools after our 1.0 release. Finally, we are excited to announce that our community of existing DDI owners will be able to purchase Darkest Dungeon II at a discounted rate for a limited time! Full pricing and bundle information will be available on May 8th. We are thrilled to be back on Steam, and look forward to hearing your thoughts. For those of you who were with us for Darkest Dungeon Is journey, you know we always read the forums and value your input. We hope to have your support on May 8th. The Red Hook Team
Darkest Dungeon II will be releasing into 1.0 on May 8th, 2023. Darkest Dungeon II is a roguelike road trip of the damned. The Butcher's Circus
Mac and Linux support is finally here for The Butcher's Circus! We are also adding various other improvements Good luck to all in Season 2! The Butchers Circus
This update contains 2 of the new features we've been working on as we prep for the Season 2 start and the MacOS and Linux builds. The work on those other are almost done, but we wanted to release these nice quality of life improvements for all in advance of the larger release hopefully within the next week or so. We are in the final stages of testing those other platforms and testing our season change scripts to ensure they work with the multiplayer improvements. Darkest Dungeon
Darkest Dungeon Fixed the stuttering issue affecting users. The game should now run much like it did pre-TBC. Known Issues Mac and Linux builds are still not available. Please use the pretbclinuxmac Steam Beta branch until we are ready to release those builds.
We have also identified more issues with regards to the stuttering issues some of our users are encountering since the DLC release. We hope to have more fixes for those in the near future. Darkest Dungeon
As part of this update we also created a new public beta branch on Steam that has a new build containing an improved version of our network connection code that we would like users to test before we roll it out to the community at large. The branch is called tbc_test and the improvements should significantly reduce desync and disconnect issues, while also improving the speed and responsiveness of gameplay in all multiplayer games. We encourage you, if you have time, to switch over to that branch and playtest with others to help us find any issues before we roll it out to the community. We have automatic crash/debug logs being sent to us so if you play and hit issues we will capture them immediately. The Butchers Circus

We are still working to get improvements to the connection stability for players. This hotfix hopefully addresses some of those issues but also contained 2 common softlock and crash issues we wanted to resolve for those being affected. We will have more updates in the next day or so for other issues as we work through them. Thank you to everyone playing and reporting their issues. Darkest Dungeon
Greetings Hamlet Dwellers! We are hard at work behind the scenes to improve stability and help track down and squash bugs. Thanks again for all your help in reporting issues. Darkest Dungeon
Greetings Hamlet Dwellers! In preperation for the release for the DLC tomorrow we are pushing a base game build to our coming_in_hot public beta branch for players to help us test for any issues with the base game. Below are the patch notes for what has change in the base game since our last patch.
Take time to deliberate, but when the time for action comes, stop thinking and go in.
Napoleon Bonaparte
Greetings Hamlet Dwellers!
Today we wanted to give a glimpse into some of the mechanical changes as well as the release date for The Butchers Circus. Grab a friend or a foe and prepare yourselves because the Circus arrives at the Hamlet on May 28th.
In just a few weeks, all players who own Darkest Dungeon on Steam can join the fray! We cant be more excited to have a release on the horizon as weve been heads down deep on Darkest Dungeon 2 and Circus development and havent had the pleasure of being able to present something to our community in some time. Soon, we can welcome you inside the big tent for us all to celebrate what we think is an interesting new way to play Darkest Dungeon.
As a little preview, lets go over probably the biggest difference players will see when jumping into the ring: changes to turn order and initiative.
Normally in Darkest Dungeon, at the start of each combat round we roll all combatants initiative to establish a turn order. This initiative is the combination of the characters speed plus a die roll. We dont explicitly show who will act next because we like there to be some amount of unknown information that represents the chaos of a fight. Instead we use gold pips on the actors to show who has yet to act. However, in the Circus, it works quite a bit differently.
At the start of a match there is a coin flip, whomever wins the flip acts first. That is of course quite valuable, so the loser gets a special team-wide buff that lasts for the entire first round.
The starting player then gets to choose which hero to use first. Thats rightno initiative!
After that hero acts, play passes to the other player and they in turn get to choose a hero to act. Action continues to alternate back and forth between players in this way until all heroes have acted. Then a new round begins.
Although we are fans of some good old-fashioned RNG (as you well know), relying on the base game initiative system would introduce too much randomness into the outcome of a single PvP combat match.
This new mechanic introduces a huge new layer of decision making into combat. Do I go for immediate damage with Crusader or Leper? Or do I set up some marks with my Houndmaster or Bounty Hunter so that my Arbalest can score big kills? Should you activate the hero most vulnerable to being stunned first, even though ideally youd like to leave them for last in order to combo or do a saving heal? It creates an interesting cat and mouse dynamic for the first half of the match as you attempt to outmaneuver and activate your chosen strategy while interrupting your opponents.
Along with the initiative change, weve also made other combat changes to enhance the PvP experience, but well leave you to discover those in the Arena. Its a whole new battle out there! However, rest assured that the single player campaign and combat will continue to function as they always have.
Add The Butchers Circus to your Steams Wishlist today and be notified the minute the DLC releases on May 28th! In anticipation of the release, we also invite you to join our Discord and speculate wildly with our welcoming community!

Greetings Hamlet Dwellers!
The rumors are true tents are being pitched, banners raised, and the Hamlet is rife with competitive camaraderie. The Butchers Circus has arrived!
On April 2nd we announced that we will be releasing a new FREE DLC for Darkest Dungeon on Steam. This new DLC will add a whole new way to play: PvP battles against friends and foes alike!
Weve always toyed with the idea of a competitive version of our combat system, and as we began to shift production to Darkest Dungeon II, we just couldnt give up on the idea. Thanks to the success of the game, we hired a few extra hands to dedicate to this DLC while the rest of our studio continued work on Darkest Dungeon II. The results of this experiment are almost ready to unveil!
Here are a few tidbits of what to expect with The Butchers Circus DLC.
We are adding a whole new sub-hamlet screen, The Circus! You can easily switch between the Circus and Hamlet screens much like you do when going to select your next quest. Once in the Circus you can choose to challenge a friend, visit the prize booth to see what rewards are next for your progression, or enter the main tent and join the matchmaking queue to face off against other players.
The party select screen (pictured above) allows you to quickly select and kit out your party. An important note: the heroes you use to enter the ring are not the ones you have on your roster in the Hamlet. You can experiment and try out PvP parties without fearing the loss of Dismas or Reynauld as they attempt to assault the Darkest Dungeon! Going to the Circus is no risk for your campaign.
The Butchers Circus will have its own version of skills, class balances, and other various combat mechanical changes that are separate from Darkest Dungeons main campaign. Those changes do not extend into the single player game. The next blog post will cover more details on those changes weve made to create an exciting and competitive environment.
While we have you here, lets go over some Frequently Asked Questions weve seen from the community since weve announced the DLC.
Q: How much will this DLC cost?
We are giving it away for FREE, permanently.
Q: Are there in-game purchases, loot boxes, or microtransactions?
No. All rewards are gated behind player progression, pure and simple. No pay to win, no pay for visuals.
Q: Whats the catch how will you make money on this?
Thanks to the success of Darkest Dungeon, we are excited to share this with the community and we hope you enjoy it! (The Butchers Circus does require the core game to play, and DLC heroes also require the associated DLC to unlock.)
Q. What platforms/stores will this DLC be available on?
At launch we will only be on Steam, and only on Windows. We will be adding Mac and Linux support soon after. Other platforms and storefronts are TBD. Honestly, it depends a bit on the reception of the DLC!
Q. Can I use any mods or modded characters in the Butchers Circus?
No. In order for us to have any form of anti-cheat in place, that means that everything related to the PvP mode (facing other players) cannot be modded.
Q. Can I use The Flagellant or Shieldbreaker in the Butchers Circus without owning the Crimson Court or Shieldbreaker DLCs?
In order to put those characters into your party you will need to own their respective DLCs. That said you can still be matched against players who are using them, even if you dont own them yourself.
Q. Will this have any sort of anti-cheat?
Yes! The service we are using for this DLC that handles our matchmaking, analytics, and progression system will also be running our anti-cheat system. Because this service is using various analytics tools to help us we will need to update our EULA agreement to let people know about how we comply with GDPR requests.
Q. Is an internet connection required to access this DLC?
Yes. For now you will need to have a connection to the internet in order to even get access to the Circus menu screens.
Q. Will there be bots to play against?
Yes, we will have bots! If you get anxious with playing other people and want to experiment in your own time, you can play against bots. Since we require an internet connection to access the Circus menu screens, that means at launch there wont be any offline bots. This is a feature we hope to add post release.
Q. Will the hero corpses be making their way back to the main campaign?
No. The corpses are very important for this mode and we havent evaluated their impact on the main campaign. While many of our fans over the years have requested hero corpses, since we arent looking to modify the base game with this DLC we have chosen to keep them inside the DLC.
Q: Is this Delaying Darkest Dungeon 2?
Nope! The Butchers Circus staff were hired specifically to work on this, and we didnt do it at the cost of also making progress on DD2. So enjoy The Butchers Circus guilt-free. Or if you arent the PvP type, rest-assured that the sequel remains under production and we look forward to sharing more news on it when we can!

We weren't joking - The Butcher's Circus DLC is coming in May! Play intense PVP arena battles against your friends and enemies alike.

Steam Build #24787 Darkest Dungeon
Steam Build #24353
This update contains some significant changes to Endless Harvest brought about by feedback and observation.
It’s important to us that Endless Harvest is an exciting, tense experience. Some of the balance and structure in the first deployment make it possible to advance through what we consider an excessive amount of kills (1000+!) which results in a drawn out experience lacking some of the tension and excitement that we feel is vital. These changes have been made to try to keep the experience “punchy”, while still retaining that incentive and challenge of bettering your kill counts...without requiring a dozen or more hours for a single deep run. We hope that you find them to be good changes for the long term health of the mode, just as we do!
With this build we added the new Korean Localization provided by BADA Games. This new localization has replaced the old Korean and is selectable by choosing Korean (한국어) in the language select. Korean B or 한국어 (B) is the old localization which is still being re-worked by the original translator firm. Thank you for your patience while we corrected the localization, and we hope you enjoy the new version. Darkest Dungeon

- Red Hook Studios Greetings Hamlet Dwellers! We have been delivered the second Korean translation, done by BADA Games, who created the original fan translation. We are currently working on getting it implemented. Part of that work is a new font that was voted on from a poll BADA circulated to players. We hope this new font will be more legible and more to your liking. Once we have this translation hooked up we will post again on how to access it before it gets pushed live. Both BADA and us would like to hear your feedback on the quality of the new translation.
Dear Darkest Dungeon players:
Today we have an update for you regarding our plans to tackle the Korean localization improvements. Like many of you, we were extremely frustrated and disappointed to hear that the translation was not up to the high quality bar that we set for ourselves internally. We also acknowledge that we kept Korean players waiting for the translation much longer than we originally intended.
Making this right is a priority for us.
Here’s our plan:
[olist]
Steam build 23886 Darkest Dungeon
Dear Darkest Dungeon players: Alongside today's large core game update and DLC launch, we also released Korean language translation. This was long overdue and we were very excited to do it. We are getting immediate feedback that the translation quality is not good, and we can understand how this is disappointing. It's disappointing for us to hear, too! We paid for professional translation, so we were not expecting this problem. We are committed to improving the quality of the Korean translation, and are beginning our investigation into how to do that. (Apologies, none of us in the team are Korean speakers.) We hope that our Korean fans will understand that we hear your feedback and we are taking steps to improve the translation. In the meantime, if you have specific comments about which areas are problematic, please email us at feedback at redhookgames dot com. That would help us fix it. Our sincere apologies, --Red Hook Studios

]Darkest Dungeon:
Core Game Balance Patch
Steam, GOG, Humble release on June 19th.
Other platforms to follow when Color of Madness DLC releases on them.
Designer Notes:
Darkest Dungeon started out as an Early Access game with frequent updates, but has since gone on to have a number of free updates throughout its life as a “Finished Game.” We are pleased to announce that we are deploying a large balance update to the core game on Tuesday June 19th, to coincide with release of the new Color of Madness DLC.
Over the last couple months, we’ve taken a comprehensive look through all classes in the game since it had been some time since we previously did so. Related to that, we also wanted to assess combat as a whole and see if there were any general balance adjustments we could make to improve the game.
In making these changes, we consulted extensively with members of the Darkest Dungeon player community, and ultimately went through over three complete rounds of changes, complete with playtesting and fierce debates. Special thanks to Marvin Seo and Clair de Lune for their assistance with this update, in particular with class and trinket adjustments. They were the source of many ideas, and also provided endless enthusiasm for stress testing (har har) the changes themselves.
Clair was also instrumental in compiling the final changelist, by referencing things against the live game. Thanks for saving me some work!
It’s the nature of the beast that not all changes will be loved by all players. We know that, on occasion, something you love might be altered in a way you don’t like
The working philosophy for this giant balance update was that we wanted to shore up *weak* classes/skills/trinkets more than we wanted to nerf strong ones. Yes, there are some nerfs, but I think you’ll find that those changes are much less frequent than buffs. Where possible, we tried to correct dominant strategies by providing alternatives that are similarly exciting.
We are pleased to roll these changes out and hope that each of you find the majority of them to be exciting and welcome!
--Red Hook Tyler (on behalf of the Darkest Dungeon team)
THE MUSKETEER!
First, a bonus! As many of you know, we created a Musketeer class (a mirror skin of Arbalest), and this class was a Kickstarter exclusive for two years. We’ve decided to now release the Musketeer for free to all owners of the game. It’s a “FreeLC”, meaning you just have to download the DLC and add it to the game.
On Steam, you can get it here starting June 19th:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/445700/Darkest_Dungeon_The_Musketeer/
Thank you for your support of Darkest Dungeon!
Ok, now on to the changes:
Actually the notes are so long that they don't fit here so please click this link to see the full (30+ page) patch notes.
In preparation for GDPR, we are removing data collection from the game until we have made our backend compliant.

Darkest Dungeon
The DLC is currently only available in English but we are working on the translations! The rest of our supported languages (Simplified Chinese, German, Russian, French, Italian, Spanish, Czech, Polish, and Brazilian PR) will be available in a few days. We currently estimate Tuesday Oct 31 but will keep you updated! We apologize for the inconvenience and are working as fast as we can on this!
The Shieldbreaker DLC - Now Available!
Hailing from the distant windswept dunes of the east, the Shieldbreaker arrives in the Hamlet! Deadly as a viper, her iron will has been forged in the heat of the blazing desert sun. Though outwardly demure, her emancipation from the barren wastes came at a price so terrible, it haunts her dreams even now...
The Shieldbreaker is a powerful ally in the fight to reclaim the Estate and banish the evil that squats in the Darkest Dungeon. A highly-tactical hero with solid damage dealing capability, she truly excels when countering monsters with high protection and those who guard their allies. Her movement, speed, and targeted abilities make her a valuable ally for dismantling intractable monster groups. Though relatively low health, the Shieldbreaker is yet highly survivable in short bursts thanks to her Aegis shield.

Greetings Hamlet Dwellers!
The Darkest Dungeon Diorama that was promised as a backer reward is now for sale for anyone to purchase on Fangamer while supplies last.
The Diorama was manufactured by Panda Game Manufacturing, costs $25 USD and has over 40 figures and 4 background vignettes. This edition contains Vvulf and his Raiders, which will be exclusive to this printing only!
This set contains the following character classes: Crusader (Zealous Accusation pose), Plague Doctor, Highwayman (Point Blank Shot pose), Vestal, Grave Robber, Hellion, Occultist, Leper.
For our first run we selected the iconic Ruins as the dungeon location featured in the backgrounds and for the monster tokens selected. From Bone Rabble all the way to fiendish Bone Bearer, all the skeleton monsters are represented with at least 1 token. The Necromancer and Shambler are also contained in this set. We also included a handful of curios to help spice up your scenes, including a looted adventurer's pack (damn you Reynauld!).
Want more information on Fangamer's shipping policies as well as question about international shipping? Find those here on Fangamerr's Website.
We are excited to have these finally out for sale as they've been a real treat to work on. We hope they do well and if they do we will consider doing a second run focusing on the other dungeon regions and the other heroes and poses.
If any of you have already received your copy from your Kickstarter pledge or purchased a copy from Fangamer we'd love for you to share your set up with us on twitter/facebook!
We're excited to announce that today we've added full Chinese translation (simplified) into the game. This has been something we've been working on for a couple of months. Red Hook is excited to continue to bring DD to new audiences. We hope you enjoy it!
This translation includes many contributions from the Chinese community, and we are grateful for your support and efforts to improve the game!
We've also added some community improvements to Russian and French translations as well.
Over the course of Darkest Dungeon's lifetime, members of the community have stepped in to help us improve the quality of the game's translation and it's something we continue to be grateful for! However, there is always work to be done as we have continued to add content to the game and there are other languages yet to be supported.
In this effort we've been working to make it easier for community members to contribute to the game's translation. With the help from Unknown Worlds (makers of Subnautica) we have a website tool that makes it easier for you to help contribute and improve the games translation, as well as begin supporting new languages.
Anyone can go to this website and make an account and begin submitting improved translations to then be approved by moderators of each respective language. If you want us to add a new language for the community to start contributing to let us know and we will open up a new language to begin being translated. As an example it was through the help of the community and this web tool that 90% of Simplified Chinese was translated. We would love to support other often requested languages like Korean/Turkish and we are asking for your help as every time we've turned to the community the quality and translation is unparalleled as our players understand the tone and themes of the game better than anyone else.
As always, we'll be keeping an eye on any feedback and bugs.
We have just hotfixed to patch in all missing translations for currently supported languages. This captures all the new text added in last Thursday's patch as well as a few other strings that were missing translations. Note: We are currently evaluating what it will take to add simplified Chinese and Korean to the game and plan to have more news available soon.
Build #20340
Here is an update about Crimson Court and some related topics, including progress towards supporting Chinese and Korean languages in the game. Crimson Court: 175,000 Copies and Counting Thank you for supporting Darkest Dungeon!
Last night, overzealous gremlins took a large foam bat to Jingles the Jester, leaving him dazed, reeling, and about to break. Today, after great popular demand, Jingles is able to once again bring down the house with a rousing Finale (though still not as earth shatteringly-quickly as he could during his popular setlist from two+ days ago). Finale: --Base damage bonus: 50% --Crit chance restored (though still lower than previous incarnations) Notes from the Jester's roadies: 1) As stated in yesterday's patch notes, we still intend Finale to be a powerful skill--but one that will take some effort and tactics to set up. We will continue monitoring and tuning as necessary. Our design philosophy for every hero is that there should be circumstances where that hero is extremely valuable. One of the most interesting comments we've seen about the Finale nerf (and wholeheartedly agree with) is that if a single skill nerf seems to ruin the overall utility of a hero, then that can be less of an indicator of that skill being flawed and maybe more of an indicator that the rest of his moveset is lacking. 2) The tuning of one skill should not be interpreted as indifference towards any other tuning adjustments that could or should be made. Sometimes it's more convenient and relevant to touch parts of the game that are tangential to other tasks going on. Right now, generally our focus is on fixing up remaining Crimson Court bugs but Finale was something we felt needed a more interesting setup.
Hey everyone! Now a week out of The Crimson Court and a flurry of patches, we just wanted to give everyone an update on how this week is going to be with builds. We are hoping to slow down build releases as we have resolved most of all the critical issues. We will be taking our time this week to collect fixes for all the current support issue and outstanding tickets(Cutscene Subtitles, etc) we have on our list. We aren't done yet with final balance and tuning, as we are going to be reviewing our metrics and player feedback from the past week and now. So expect some changes later this week. Thank you to everyone who has helped report bugs, shared their thoughts on the boards, and supported us by participating in yet another release! Darkest Dungeon
Significantly increased blood drop rates (in some cases doubling)
The Crimson Court DLC: Added missing translations. (About 10% of the Crimson Court text was still in English only.) With very few exceptions, all text in the DLC should now be translated to the current 9 languages. (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Br-Portuguese, Russian, Polish, Czech.) Note: We are reviewing other languages to translate to.
Darkest Dungeon ®: The Crimson Court, all new content for Darkest Dungeon ® is Now Available on Steam!
Darkest Dungeon ®: The Crimson Court is the first expansion for the award-winning grim and gothic RPG by Red Hook Studios. The Crimson Court enhances any Darkest Dungeon campaign with the addition of a new storyline and dungeon, new hero class, new monsters, new bosses, the Fanatic wandering miniboss, set trinkets for every hero, and new buildings to upgrade your Hamlet! It is designed to be played alongside your existing campaign or as a new one...it's your choice!
A couple key fixes from observing the first sessions! We’re keeping a close eye on the DLC performance, and correcting everything we can find.
Greetings! Along with the Crimson Court DLC launch, we have made a variety of improvements and updates to the core game, which will be available to all users. Ok, straight up we know you want detailed patch notes. We love making them. But with everything going on around the DLC launch, we couldn’t bring ourselves to go back through every commit log from the past 5 months for the base game. We might’ve forgotten some stuff. Call us lazy, call us exhausted. We’re sorry, and we love you.
Hey we just pushed a small hotfix to resolve an issue modders were having with the uploader.
“That we are capable only of being what we are remains our unforgivable sin.”
― Gene Wolfe
Gird yourselves for a bloody campaign against the mist-shrouded menaces that lurk behind the Courtyard gate.
Darkest Dungeon’s first expansion, The Crimson Court, is scheduled for release on PC/Mac/Linux (Steam, GoG, Humble, Twitch) on June 19th 2017, and will cost $9.99 USD. We do not have a hard date for PSN owners, but we are targeting the following month. Inevitable issues result from releasing to a wide audience, and we want to make sure our console build benefits from the hotfixes we’ll be pushing to Steam as issues are discovered. (It’s a longer process to release hotfixes on PSN.)
At Red Hook, we’re working around the clock on the exciting new content and features that will be coming to Hamlet next month. Drawing hands are sore, spreadsheets are bursting with data, and eyes are blurry, but our own excitement is pushing us ever forward! We’ve been pretty tight-lipped on details but we’ll be revealing more information in the coming weeks including screenshots, boss teases, and a comprehensive look at the new class.
In case you’ve missed some of the earlier announcements on what to expect, let’s recap:
Today marks the release of Steam Workshop support for Darkest Dungeon! We’ve always wanted to support mods for Darkest Dungeon, and going back to the Kickstarter, we listed it as a stretch goal. Though at the time we didn’t reach that level of funding, due to our success through Early Access, we decided to fully incorporate STEAM Workshop after release. Today marks the beginning of that support, and we cannot be more excited to see what our players come up with!
To celebrate this event we are on sale this weekend on Steam! Have you been waiting for Workshop Support? Well now you can grab the game for cheap and check out what the modding community has already cooked up in the Workshop Library! There are already a handful of cool and interesting class mods, as well as small and large system overhauls for the game such as Pitch Black Dungeon by MaesterSilvio, which is not unlike what The Long War is for X-Com 2.
We will be hosting a Community Stream this Friday to showcase some of the mods listed on Workshop as well as answer questions from the community about the game and modding. Tune in to Twitch.tv tomorrow at 2pm PST!
Are you interested in making mods for Darkest Dungeon? Check out the Darkest Dungeon Workshop Group on STEAM and the modding guide here! Back while we were testing out the Workshop integration we created a group for modders to send us feedback as well as discuss and share their expertise. We plan on using this group as the home for future workshop feature requests as well as discussing things with our modding community.
Finally, while mods are exciting please understand that we must put a disclaimer up as well:
Red Hook Studios cannot be responsible for any damage to save games caused by subscribing to mods. We recommend backing up your saves first. Here are instructions how to do so. We also encourage mod creators to test your mods thoroughly before making them available to the public.
The Darkest Dungeon world is about to get a little bit bigger! We can’t wait to see more of your creations.
Delve deep,
Red Hook Studios

Build #17314 - RADIANT UPDATE
Overview:
This update was built around two major pillars:
We are deploying a new build to our public beta branch "coming_in_hot". The main purpose of this update was to merge back all the development done during the porting process to PS4. This should bring the PC/MAC/Linux up to date with the PS4/PSV builds. As per our usual method, this build will be on our beta branch for a few days to allow players to help us catch any issues we might have missed. If you run into any problems please report them on our forum and we will work on getting a fix out. Your save file will transfer over (though backing up is always a good idea). The full notes are listed below:

UPDATE COMING SOON
In other news, we plan to deploy a game update soon, which will have some fixes as well as controller support, since we recently mapped commands to controller as part of the PlayStation release.
DLC PROGRESSING...SCARILY
Finally, we are hard at work on the Crimson Court DLC, which is scheduled to land in early 2017. There is some pretty creeeeeepy stuff in it.
"The blood! I must have the blood!"
ICYMI - Darkest Dungeon's first DLC is confirmed for early 2017! For now, we're keeping the details under wraps. But here is a tease:
This update is just moving all the changes that were part of the small public beta to the live game. If you participated in the "coming_in_hot" testing feel free to opt out of the beta as all changes are now live for all players. Thanks for your feedback!
We pushed an update to our "coming_in_hot" public beta branch of the game. These changes will exist there for a few days as players try them out and make sure there are no major new bugs before moving it to the main branch for everyone to enjoy. If you have some time please switch over to the "coming_in_hot" branch in the game options on the BETAS tab. Your save file will transfer over (though backing up is always a good idea).
