The goal of this patch was to just shake the game up a bit, lots of micro tweaks and adjustments for balance. We have an audience of a dozen or so people who play it every weekend on the discord community. So if you are interested in getting more involved, seek us out!

Abigail


+ Abigail turret max range reduction 9000 to 2500 + Abigail's shotgun reduction by 1dmg per pellet

Gwen


+ Energy Drain on Gwen Speed Buff, 5 energy drain tick + Fire DoT on enemies reduced from 8+30 over 6 seconds) -> 8+18 over 6 seconds

Hi everyone, this is a quick patch that addresses two bugs The Casino patch is still under development and wont see a release this patch. I apologize for the extremely slow development, more than normal. All of my focus has gone into the new project. I appreciate our small but passionate playerbase!

  • Several of Gwen's Alchemy buffs duration were bugged to end early. This has been fixed
  • Charlie's Flying Claw projectiles can now detonate TNT and other explosives.
NOTE: This patch might seem comically large at 300mb, but this includes a bunch of Casino & Ancient Ruins files (Future maps) So you wont have to download this data again in the future! Apologies.

Hi Everyone! First off, i'd like to apologize for the sparse updates on the game. And for the struggle of retaining players. Friendly reminder we do weekly game sessions on saturdays. This is scheduled in our discord. (Link in forums) Secondly, the next update (Which is scheduled for sometime in the next two months) will include the LONG awaited BOTS!!! Yes that's right, functional bots for 7 of the 9 characters are in the works! And are nearly feature complete. These bots will be able to play DM, TDM, Conquest, Arena, Team Arena, and CTF with you! You can have up to 8 bot players in online, so you can mix real players with bots if you want to :) This update also includes...

Patch 1.25.09 - Chat Bug Fix + New Weapon


There was a bug involving opening the chat, and trying to click the Team or Private tab. This was causing the game to soft-lock. This has been fixed in this update. I also snuck in a new weapon... It's called "The Long Shot" It's a single barrel shotgun with very low spread, high damage, but a very long firing cooldown. It's available on two maps:

1.25.05 - Hotfix - Charlie nerf & Admin tag change

Charlie -Charlie damage taken while holding the flag 1.25 -> 1.5 (25% penalty -> 50%) -Charlie KO-Punch cooldown introduced, 1 second, cost increased to 100 energy (Previously 80) -Introduced a separate layered cooldown of 0.1 seconds to stop multi-abilities from being requested from the server These changes still keep her combat power STRONG from the Gwen release, but knock down her CTF strengths a ton. Hopefully this will tide me over until her eventual rework. I plan on reworking her completely into a new kit. I dont want people to feel bad for playing a character. That's my 100% goal. I don't want people to feel guilty, or like they are abusing something. Server +Changed how admin tags are applied slightly, the admin bug is largely fixed. But the visuals are not... Nerfs


Friday's Fast fall is removed (Crouch while mid air) Friday's melee combo was fun to do, but it was extremely hard to counter given how fast she could land on the ground and do it. This will allow some counter play to her poison->Kick combo. I think this is a better alternative to nerfing the poison weakness.

Buffs


Friday's jump velocity changed from 700 to 770 (higher jumps!) This is a buff to friday's jump height, this also coincidentally makes the melee combo a smidge harder to do, because you'll be higher

BUG FIXES


Bingo knife forward launch in mid-air did NOT work on other characters in randomizer (Fixed) Controller players were unable to swim up or down (fixed) Really long server names in the server browser are now capped at 40 characters

Wave Defense! - Now Live!


Fadeout PVE


I wanted to wait to release this, but this patch also includes so many QoL upgrades to the game, so I decided to release the Wave Mode this month with One map. (More to follow) This one map features 6 waves of enemies, increasing difficulty for each wave. It's very difficult alone, but it proves a substantial challenge! Play it with up to 7 other friends online, or 3 Local with our Split Screen mode. (In Alpha, instructions at bottom of page) Defend the "Tractor of Hope" In this PVE wave based game mode! - Purchase weapons at the "shop" with gold dropped from enemies! Completing the challenge will award you an exclusive skin "Wave Commander Blaise"

The in-game achievements system is now live! (No Steam Achievements at this time.) Includes 3 acheivements (for now) with more to come. :) Launching the game Visiting the Lockerroom Completing Wave Mode on any Difficulty

Quality of Life


I consider many things in the game quality of life features, like options, input keybinds, user flow, and other things. This patch includes dozens of these things, here is a list of them below:
  • Keybinds for Taunt, Heal me, and Thanks voice lines
  • Friday fast-fall is now triggerable via "V" or "Crouch" keys.
  • Intro video added to the game
  • Gamepad navigation improved (But not complete)
  • Save data for custom colors & skins could be corrupted with game upgrades (Fixed)
  • Performance improvements in Mechanyon
  • Mouse mines would not stick to players sometimes
  • Harpoons & Arrows not hitting targets sometimes
  • Health & Energy meter graphics improved
  • Ammo count bug fixed (-1 ammo)
  • Ammo count text improved
  • Font in some menus improved
  • Splitscreen bugs fixed (No names, no health bar, no spawn bubble, etc.

Splitscreen Alpha



If you want to try splitscreen, with controllers connected, press the Back button (Or select for ps4/ps5) controllers to activate this hidden menu. After that, Host or Join a game! The ui is a bit finnicky, and might require players to hit Start to bring up the pause menu to unstuck themselves. Works in Wave mode too! Just be sure to select your players here first, then hit "Host Wave mode"

Wave Defense - Updated on Beta Branch "sigma"


Hey All, I'm looking for more feedback on Wave Defense mode, which is 'fully' playable on the beta branch named "sigma"

How to get on the Beta?

  • Right click the game, Properties
  • Then go to Betas
  • Select "Sigma" and close the window
  • Let the game update, and then you're good to play! [/olist] I also have a server up for North American players that should give an even better experience for playing with friends. You can use Steam Invites while in the lobby to invite others to the game. Wave Defense Features:
    • 1 Map, 2 Difficulties (Normal & Hard)
    • 6 Waves of scaling difficulty with a 30 second break time in-between
    • A item-spawner shop that allows you and your team to spend Gold Currency to unlock weapons
    • 3 Exclusive weapons to the Wave Mode only that are more popular than their regular counter parts
    • Special enemy units like the Stealth Bingo unit that will stay stealthed and sneak attack your Home Base! & More to come soon
    I am specifically looking to hear some Difficulty feedback, the game is mostly tested around Duo &/or more players, and I'd like it to be completable by solo players if they desire.
    Also! When the patch comes out, you will be able to earn exclusive rewards like the new Wave Commander skin for Blaise. Requires beating Wave Defense on any difficulty. This ties in with our new in-game achievement system.

    Hey All, small news update that wont affect really anyone, the Native Linux builds are no longer shipping on steam with Fadeout: Underground going forward. This doesn't affect anyone as most people are using Proton (Even the linux users who thought they were using the native builds, are actually running the proton build) These changes will take affect once the sigma branch makes it to live (Sometime in december) That is all, Cheers!

    Fadeout PVE mode: Now in alpha testing!


    If you want to help test, its available publically via the Steam Beta system, if you havent used it before, its available under the game's propertiies window -> Betas -> and select "sigma" branch The game will update shortly afterward *Warning* You cannot joint regular dedicated servers while on this branch, if you want to return to the regular branch you need to revisit this window again
    Once you're on the sigma branch, launch the game and hit "Wave Survival" (name pending) You can invite up to 7 other players to your lobby Once ready, step onto the green platform.

    If you pickup a flag, step in a spawn room, or into lava (as blaise) you cannot pickup a flag again. (Fixed) Changing gamemode is now done through the save button.     Chi-Launch Cooldown increased from 1.5 seconds to 2.0 seconds. Increase damage taken while carrying the flag by 30% Brush off calculation changed. Previous: Reduce 10% damage, The other damage gets converted to a DoT over 3 seconds. New: Reduce 0% damage, 80% of damage -> Dot, 20% of damage taken instantly.

    To celebrate this patch, I've collaborated with the Brickadia developers to add fun toy-brick map to Fadeout! But why? For those that don't know, Fadeout owes a lot of its roots to Blockland (2007), an online brick building game. I used to create mods, and host Deathmatch servers on Blockland very frequently as a kid.| Well fast forward 14 years later, and I'm much older at 29, and working in the games industry! Modding was a huge part of why I decided to pursue a career in games. So what a better way to 'end' fadeout development than with a homage to my roots.

    Brickadia


    So what is Brickadia? Well, Brickadia is a spiritual successor to Blockland built on modern game engine code. (Unreal4) Brickadia is still in development, but with their help I was able to export a map created in the game for us in Fadeout! It's a strange cross over, but it did yield a very fun map. Over the last few weeks, the discord server has been helping me test this map + some other 'last minute' changes to the game. The Brickadia map supports all game modes, and comes with a new ORIGINAL music track by Strider/Tempxa (one of our composers!)

    My buddies on the Brickadia team gave me permission to do a small crossover map! This map is a neighborhood that embodies that kind of TDM games you might see in Brickadia. An online multiplayer brick building game. This map is nearly complete, and is available for early testing in this patch 0.95.01. The final patch (1.0) will include a new music track for this map.     Hi all, This blog isn't read very much. But its a nice place for me to have bigger announcements. If you are already in our discord server, you are probably aware of my recent announcement for stopping content development on Fadeout: Underground.

    What does this mean for the game?


    Put Simply:
    • No more content updates, only critical bug fixes.
    • Dedicated servers for the game will remain up for as long as I can afford them, but the game will still be playable without them.
    • The paid DLC will remain paid, see it as a donation box. And I really do appreciate the people who have purchased it to support the game. It has allowed me to commission some awesome artwork for the game in the past.
    • The last update will be Mid-December 2021

    What does this mean for the Devs going forward?


    By the time the final release in December comes, I would have spent over 3 years working on the game. Every day after work, and nearly every weekend I've poured hours of my own time & money into this game. And it's been the most fun and love filled hobby I've ever had. HOWEVER. I want to move on, I want to make new things, new games. So I do invite you to stick around and see what I will be up to.

    What does this mean for the discord server?


    Shortly after the 1.0 release in December, I will be transforming the discord into a Studio server that is about my creations. Fadeout: Underground included. So we will still have a place to hang out and chill, and probably play some games of Fadeout from time to time. Thank you everyone for the love and support.     • Self restarts after 9 rounds have passed
    • Supports map switching

    Hemlock:


    • Plummeter + Damage changed from (15 to 35) to (25 to 45) + Character-hit Downward velocity changed from 1350 to 1850 + Added a slow effect to hit enemies (Reduces movement speed to 30% & Jump Height by 50%) for 3 seconds
    • Bleed - Removed an accidental weakness to physical damage while under bleed
    Summary: Hemlock should be in a overall way-better competitive strength after this change! Give him a try to counter those pesky Friday players :)

    Charlie


    • + Run speed at low health increased from 1150 to 1350
    • + Run speed scaling changed from 0-100 HP to 0-150 HP (Gain speed sooner)
    • + Brush-off calculation changed from 100% damage taken to 70% damage taken (Makes her tankier)
    • + Energy Regen rate 20 -> 30 per tick

    Staff Slam (Ability 3)


    • - Reduced damage 60 to 45

    Knock Out Punch (Ability 4)


    • + Increased damage 60 to 65

    Summary: Charlie was intentionally designed to be weak, but I felt like she was a bit too squishy. I think the new (30%~) Damage mitigation should help her live longer, and with her energy cost adjustments there's now more choice in melee combat

    Friday(Bunny)


    • - Health changed from 90 to 80
    • - Unarmed movement speed 1000 to 900 units per second
    • - Weapon movement speed 800 to 700 units per second
    • - Kick Damage 50 to 40

    Heal Magnum:


    • + 50 healing to 70 healing per shot
    Summary: Friday was the strongest character in the game by a wide-margin. She needed nerfs, but I hoped to preserve her mobile play-style as that is the fun factor.

    Abigail


    • - Reduced ammo regen on TNT, Rifle, & Shotgun ammo by 50%
    • Turrets
    • - Removed the slight knock-back from turret shots
    • - Damage 8 -> 6
    • - Bullet Speed 10,000 -> 9,000 units per second
    • + Build cost 150 -> 130 Pistol Ammo
    • + Added a Red outline for enemy turrets within their firing range (3550)
    Summary: Abigail was in an alright spot, maybe a bit on the strong side. These minor adjustments should keep her from becoming the true terror i believed her to be.

    Ammo Boxes


    • + Increased ammo in each box by roughly 50%

    Bingo


    • + In-combat stealth cost 35 -> 30 per second
    • - Out of combat stealth cost 15 -> 20 per second
    • + Energy regen 10 -> 15 per second
    • + Max energy 100 -> 120
    • + Starting energy 50 -> 80
    Summary: Bingo felt weak, after these changes he can effectively stay in stealth for 20 seconds (starting with full energy) should help him evade fire a bit better

    Mechanyon Abigail Model update!



    Bug fixes, balance updates, new models, Mechanyon map rework! Major balance updates include:

    • Friday's health increased from 80 to 100
    • Heal Magnum DoT damage increased from 4 to 8 per tick (from 12 to 24 total damage over 3 seconds)
    • Shotgun damage increased from 10 to 14 per pellet
    • Turret health decreased to 45 from 150
    • Turret damage decreased to 9 from 10

  • Fadeout is a Third Person shooter in the vein of classic PC games from the late 90s and early 2000s. Inspired by games like Quake, Unreal Tournament, and Team Fortress with some unique twists. Each playable character features unique combat traits that never force you into playing a specific role, you can change your playstyle as you see fit. Master the various gadgets & tools such as the Detonator to "rocket-jump" yourself across the map.
