v1.2 is now live: Art & Adjustments!

The v1.2 update is here! In this update there is a big visual improvement with all the event cards and choices being upgraded. No more question mark cards! I've also partnered up with Boba-Witch who created a totally original, bespoke, alternate Tarot card set that you can choose to use from the main menu. These cards came out incredible, so please give the game a go using them! There are also tons of balance changes which are aiming to give players more options when building decks, and to rework some of the less interesting cards. I also want to sincerely thank everyone that has bought the game. Without your support I wouldn't have the opportunity to make updates like these, to work with such amazing artists, and to keep making this game better and better! Thank you so so much. On with the update! Event and start of floor card art - Adds awesome new art for these cards: Every event. Every event choice. Every card choice (e.g. Rules Card, Scratchcard). The start of every floor (these are even animated). Pause menu. End of a run.
Above Witch Tarot deck - you can now swap between the classic Rider-Waite-Smith Tarot deck and the brand new, bespoke Above Witch Tarot deck, expertly pixelled by Boba-Witch.
Community Card Back designs - 5 new card backs as designed by the community!

v1.1 is now live: Balancing & Bugfixing!

Happy 21st Tavern Dwellers! I'm so glad to be bringing you the first update for Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers, v1.1! This update is highly focused on improving the balance of the game and reducing some of the parts of the game that were causing frustration. There are also lots of bugs fixed, thank you to everyone that reported these. This updates aims to address: - foe decks being too consistently strong compared to the player at the same stage in a run - foes having the ability to scale out of control too easily, particularly when it comes to shields - some events being too punishing/not rewarding enough - it taking too long to start building synergies in your deck - winning being too reliant on finding healing cards - each run taking too much time - fix a number of bugs that weren't caught during testing I hope you find the game to be much more enjoyable after this update! Thank you again to those that provided feedback, it really helps to make the game better. Please also check out the newly updated FAQs here. Here are the update notes for v1.1: Unique Chips - increases number of Unique Chips to choose between to 3 (was 2) - adds the choice to pay 100 chips to reroll Unique Chip choices - changes starting chips to 250 (was 25) - Double Down Chipotle Pepper damage reduced to 5 (was 6) - Double Down Chip Damage damage threshold reduced to 3 (was 5) - Double Down Chip Off the Old Block starting Advantage increased to -2 Advantage (was -3) Foil cards - adds a 1.21% chance that cards rewarded after an encounter will be Foil - the Foil cards rewarded after defeating Bouncer, Alucard, CEO, or Dracon are now guaranteed to be special cards, so no more disappointing Foil numbered cards Foe balancing - foes now hit before player This increases the strength of a number of cards that would often have no valid targets when drawn first. This also means the player is less often disrupted by cards like Business Card after they have already stood, especially early in a run when still reliant on standard playing cards. - adds the condition "you hit first" to ALL IN! Note that foe foil cards will still be played before the player hits - increase most bosses to give 100 chips Note - some of the below changes to foe's decks only apply at Triple Down and below, so those looking for a challenge will still find it at Quadruple Down or ALL IN! Tavern Squire - max HP to 21 (was 30) Manager - removes 1x Business Card Lounge Luck Pusher - swaps 0 The Fool and Terminate the Tower for 2x 8 of Nothings - removes Social Security Card Teacher - changes lots of standard cards to Diamonds instead of Spades - removes Credit Card and Social Security Card - max HP to 40 (was 55) Wizard - max HP to 35 (was 40) VIP Area Mr President - removes Social Security Card Head Office Psychologist - adds a 2x Zero of each suit to Psychologist's deck - changes 4x of Psychologist's 10s to 8s, and add a Blank Card HR Department - removes Negative 3s - adds a set of 7s - removes 1x Queen of the Stone Age Developer - adds 2x 5 of Nothing and 2x 9 of Nothing Legal - adds a 6, 7, 8 of Nothings CEO - removes Expulsion - removes all but 1 Calamari Game Card - adds Diamond in the Rough Hope Deity of Hope - complete overhaul of Deity of Hope's deck Basement Giant Rat - removes 4x Cue Card - adds 2x 9 of Nothings Decromancer - max HP to 52 (was 66) Witch - max HP to 45 (was 52) Casino Dog is now the first encounter in the Casino (was Floorperson) Floorperson - removes Jack and the Beanstalk Pit Boss - removes The Emperor IV, Carduus Acanthoides, and 5 of Wands Dungeon Speedrunner - removes 1x Glitched Card - swaps all Clubs for Diamonds Cultist - max HP to 52 (was 66) Despair Deity of Despair: - adds a Foil Rules Card - adds Business Card - swaps Ace of Spades for Ace of Nothings - swaps Ace of Clubs for Eleven of Clubs - these changes should allow for more counterplay chances against Deity of Despair's deck Final Floor/Boss spoiler warning!
Landlord's Office Landlord - remove Foil 21 of Spades, Rorschach, Scratch, Black Aces, and some of the 10s - replace Carduus with Emperor - adds Whale Card - adds 3 synergistic/thematic cards at start of Landlord 2 based on Tarot card stolen
Gamblers - adds more Scratchcards to Gambler decks in later floors Endless encounters - adds a method to eventually end endless encounters: after 52 rounds have elapsed the Dealer will appear and unlock every played card, then every round he will add a Scratch to both player's discard piles Event balancing - adds healing to Fortune Teller events, 10 HP per card flipped - reduces Runaway Cart damage to 10 - reduces Surrounded damage to 8 - reduces Card Printer damage to 11 - changes VIP Area Trade Offer to offer any non-foil non-Tarot card, instead of 3 most recently added cards - increases base healing of VIP Area Trade Offer to 8 (was 3) - increase number of cards in Lost & Found shop to 8 (was 6) - decreases Slot Machine shop buy (now 99) and spin costs (now 35) Other balance changes - make Triple Down Minor Arcana 5 never roll 5 of Cups on Bartender as this was impossible/frustrating for some decks to overcome - Negative cards will not show up as encounter rewards in the Tavern to allow for a higher proportion of special cards to be offered - reduce rounds up count of Jack and the Beanstalk to 2 (was 4) - swaps King of Gold in Signature Diamonds deck for a King of Diamonds - changes XV The Devil to no longer damage self on a tied blackjack - removes Queen of Music - Queen of Music will be back at some stage with a reworked effect, but right now this card is just causing the game to turn into tedious attrition battles whenever it shows up Changes to unlocking starting decks - changes Signature decks to be unlocked by a win with that suit - changes to show all 18 starting decks after first win with any deck Other improvements - reduces the volume and intensity of the damage blocked by shield sfx - when Glitched Card intensity is 0 the colours of the card will now still be glitched but with no movement so that you can still tell it is a Glitched Card - changes Hope/Despair bosses to not show card reward when not on ALL IN - changes X Wheel of Fortune to show the possible gifts as keyword tooltips - changes Terminate the Tower to show the cards it can create - slightly widen card hover tooltip sizes - shorten names of 4 and 8 card shops so they fit on card better - changes Fingerprint to the more clear "On play and on stand" instead of "On play and stand" - Dungeon Counterfeiter now more clearly states that it gives a random Minor Arcana 5 - move difficulty chips into place faster - move cards onto/offscreen faster at start/end of encounter - Slot Machine Shop animations scale to animation speed setting - implements lots of community suggestions to the localisation to languages other than English - please continue to give feedback on these in the dedicated threads in the Discord! Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers Update now live for public beta testing

Hello Tavern Dwellers! It's been just over a week since the Tavern opened, and it's been amazing to see you all enjoying your time with the game so far! There has been lots of feedback coming through about every aspect of Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers, and this update addresses a big chunk of them. A big area of feedback has been to do with the balance, which has been significantly overhauled in this update. This updates aims to address:

 • foe decks being too consistently strong compared to the player at the same stage in a run
 • foes having the ability to scale out of control too easily, particularly when it comes to shields
 • some events being too punishing / not rewarding enough
 • it taking too long to start building synergies in your deck
 • winning being too reliant on finding healing cards
 • each run taking too much time
 • bug fixes

A big thank you to everyone! - A list of things to come!

Hello Tavern Dwellers, We just wanted to start by saying a huge thank you to you all! We are blown away by how many of you have purchased the game and spent countless hours battling your way through the tavern in just a few days! We thought we would take this opportunity to tell you a few of our short term plans for Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers. While reception to the game has been incredible, there is always room for improvement. Firstly, we have been hard at work fixing critical bugs and will continue to do so. Secondly, we want to do some considerable work on the balance of the game. We hear your feedback that a few of the early encounters can be rather punishing, and this is causing some fights that should be straight forward to swing in the favour of the opponent. We also want to give players earlier access to more impactful cards that will allow for better deck manipulation. Finally, we will be making some adjustments to a few problematic encounters that appear later in the game too. Some of these encounters were resulting in the opponent building up too many shields and other issues which were turning some fights into much longer encounters than anticipatedour balance changes will make a big difference here! If you have enjoyed the game so far, we would love for you to leave a review, this helps us out a lot! And remember, the launch discount will be ending soon so if you have not picked the game up yet, be sure to take advantage of the current price promotion. If you are new to the tavern and want to stay up to date with all the latest news and info, join us on Discord here to become part of the community! We currently have a community design challenge ongoing, where you can submit ideas or art for new card back designs to be added to the game, and we have some more community activities coming up soon too!

Exciting news in the world of Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers!

Hello Tavern Dwellers, We have been keeping our cards close to our chest as of latebut this is for good reason! We have some huge news and hope you are as excited about it as we are... Firstly we are thrilled to announce we have an undergone complete art overhaul over the past few months and we are very happy with the results! We have kept all the pixel art charm of the original game we all know and love, but have given it a ton of personality. The game now looks very grimy and dank fitting in with the darker narrative tone and setting. This art has been created by Yogscast artists Harry, Nina-Serena, and Jack. This and an updated soundtrack by Element 27 really puts the finishing touches on the game! Which brings us onto our next exciting announcement! We have signed a publishing agreement with Yogscast Games who will be partnering with us to launch Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers later this year! We will still remain in full control of the game's direction but partnering with Yogscast Games has enabled us to overhaul the art in game as well as freeing up additional time by taking on some of the responsibilities we would have otherwise needed to handle ourselves. They also bring a lot of knowledge and experience to the table. We also have a brand new trailer showcasing all the new art and some new content! Check it out below! [previewyoutube=Q3IzShOv9Fk;full][/previewyoutube] If you want to check out the new version for yourself, you can! We have updated the previous demo with a brand new demo complete with the new art and a host of other improvements ahead of Steam Next Fest! So please do check by the tavern for a few rounds of Blackjack from now all the way through to Steam Next Fest! To keep up to date with the latest news and how the game is progressing join us on our official Discord! HERE and consider wishlisting the game on Steam, this helps us out a lot! Look forward to seeing you all in the tavern again soon!

 • Makes the whole ID Card hoverable and clickable
 • Adds new sound effect for Slot Machine shop
Bug fixes
 • fixes a bug where Transit Card was adding to the end of the opponent's draw pile instead of a random position
 • fixes a bug where the card hover 'tick' sound could play too often
 • fixes a bug where cards that had a condition before they could be played from hand (i.e. Dark Mage) would use up 1 Advantage even if that condition meant that they weren't played
 • fixes a bug where Glitched Card would remember values from previously copied cards, leading to strange behaviour when the new card needed to access those values
 • fixes a bug where cards created by Four Mana Seven Seven were not triggering 'bust limit exceeded' effects
 • fixes a bug where you could deal lower than expected damage with a low base damage but high damage multiplier

Now live: v0.20 of the demo!

Ive been pretty happy with how v0.19 shook out, and so this update mostly consists of balance tweaks and improvements. But dont fear, there is a lot of work happening on the game at the moment, which Ill talk about at the end of the update notes! Balance changes: - moves Card Shark to Lounge hard encounter pool, increases their chip reward to 70 (from 50), and hp to 40 (from 35) - moves Luck Pusher to be the first Lounge encounter and reduces hp to 40 (was 55) - moves Teacher to Lounge easy encounter pool (from hard pool) - reduce Wizard hp to 55 (was 60) - decreases Drunk hp to 21 (from 25) - Drunk now only has one Rules Card - increases Bard hp to 21 (from 20) - adds another Victim Card and 2x Carduus Acanthoides to Slime's deck - removes XIII Death from Witch's deck and adds another 3 Green Cards Card changes: - lots of changes to the way damage is calculated - this fixes a lot of places where damage multipliers from cards like Expulsion and XVII The Star were inconsistently applied or didnt stack correctly - The effect of Trap Card is now: While in play: on taking damage that damage is also reflected to the opponent. - The effect of Carduus Acanthoides is now: On stand: If you are below your bust limit, increase the value of this card by 1. While in play: on taking damage, reflect damage equal to the value of this card. IMPORTANT: Note that reflected damage from either of these cards will not trigger on taking damage effects! - The effect of Lockpicking Card is now: On click: Unlock every locked card in play, then discard them without enacting their 'on discard' effects. - Yellow Card now adds a Red Card into your draw pile even if there were no cards to target with the Yellow Card - Glitched Card now unlocks on stand so that it doesn't get stuck as a card that locks on play - Rules Card no longer burns Visual and Quality of Life improvements: - mystery reward card is now locked so that it brings attention to the fact that it costs to unlock - the hover highlight for draw pile now extends to match the size of the draw pile (instead of just highlighting the top card) - opponent draw pile is now viewable, navigatable (shortcuts - KB: V/4, GP: R2) - dialogues and previews can be cleared with the view opponent draw pile shortcut - moves the input glyphs for opponent draw and discard piles to the right (for better symmetry) - adds a short delay when Victim Card triggers so that you can see each card that is being affected, and see them being impacted before being discarded at the end of a round - changes ID Card to allow health to go negative (screenshots of massive damage numbers are much more fun now!) - speeds up the Counterfeiter event - changes lots of cards to wait for the lock/unlock animation to complete before progressing, fixing a few strange interactions in the process Bug fixes: - fixes a bug where the value of Baseball Card was not showing as 10 in deck/draw pile previews when the Baseball Card had never been played before - fixes a bug where some event host id cards were hoverable - fixes bugs with the Counterfeiter event due to being able to select the next card while the change card in deck animation was still completing - fixes bug where keyboard/controller navigation would be inverted on some choices (like removing a card) - fixes a bug where Gambler would get two copies of every untaken card from the Memory event - fixes a bug where score card was sometimes not respecting the impact of The Victim Card - fixes a bug where if a Negative Ace had its value changed away from -1 it wouldn't be set back to -11 on bust - fixes a bug caused by manually setting the windowed_multiplier in the settings file to an invalid number - fixes bugs related to clicking very quickly loading up more than one encounter/event - fixes a bug where the game would stall if Blood Donor Card was played while Time Card was in play - fixes a bug where cards could be visually drawn from the discard pile instead of the draw pile - fixes a bug where the damage sword icon for damage dealt during turn was not correctly centred on the damage text - fixes a bug where the choices on playing Gerald of Riviera were backwards compared to their positions in the opponent's play pile Thats it for v0.20! When I started working on this update I intentionally split the development into two branches: one for gameplay which ended up being v0.20, and one for everything else which is v0.21. The short answer to what is changing in v0.21? is YES. The long answer is EVERYTHING. I am so excited about bringing you this update, and cant wait until people get their hands on it, but it needs more time in the oven! It is going to be so worth it once it is ready though. Until then, enjoy v0.20 bringing a more refined version of Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers. Keep your eye out for what is coming next! Thank you all for the support, - Purple Moss Collectors

Now live: v0.19 of the demo!

This update is focused on two main areas: - keyboard/controller support - quality of life and clarity improvements Here are the change notes: Steam Deck and Linux support: - Steam Deck and Linux versions of the game are now available on Steam! Keyboard and controller support: - adds keyboard and controller support - the game is now fully playable with a keyboard or controller - input glyphs will appear on screen during encounters or when hovering cards to show you how to use these feature - lots of changes have been made to support this, far too many to describe here! - has been tested successfully with: Xbox controller, Playstation controller, and Steam Deck Event changes: - adds new animations for adding a card to your deck, permanently burning a card in your deck, and modifying a card in your deck
- changes the mystery card to require spending chips to reveal it. You can then choose between all four reward cards
- Cards with permanent changes (like Loyalty Card and Birthday Card) are now correctly shown in events like Have a Drink, Trade Offer, and Coin Flip - makes the Four Card Shop and the Eight Card Shop the only shops you can see in the tavern (so that you have more chips built up by the time you see the more expensive shops) Slot Machine shop: - now rerolls immediately after buying the three cards - prevents paying to spin the slot machine if you will not have enough chips to also purchase the 3 cards after spinning Four Card Shop: - cards now cost 95 chips (from 115) Counterfeiter: - now visually shows the cards value increasing/decreasing
Have a Drink: - Beer now damages you by 5 - Beer and a Shot now gives a Loyalty Card with 1 stamp - House Special now damages you by 8 and gives a Loyalty Card with 3 stamps - Loyalty Card is now visually moved to the ID Card to show that it is being added to your deck - options in this event that would kill you can now be taken but leave you at 1 health Card Removal shop: - now locks the more expensive options until the cheaper options are purchased first Crypto Bro: - now shows the value you sold for - now shows the ATH after you sold so you can see how close you were to the top - positioning changes to better layout this event Stay a Night: - Fancy Room now heals 15 - Cheap Room now heals 8 - the No Sleep option can be taken even if health is below 5, will leave you at 1 hp (to prevent soft locking on this event when low on both chips and health) Card changes: - the suit of Loyalty Card is now Hearts - changes Official Trump Card to take 2x chips and have Nothings as its suit instead of Diamonds. Since most of the time it would be used to create a blackjack it was just adding extra cognitive load to the player to have to work out if the refund was worth it or not. - Gerald from Riveria now correctly waits until burn animation completed before moving to the next turn - Negative Clubs and Spades now reduce the number of that suit counted for "on a winning blackjack" bonuses, rather than reducing damage or shields directly - standardises and improves clarity of the description of Negative cards - changes the reward pool to only include negative cards of suits the player has standard cards of in their deck - changes clicking a card to count as taking a turn - changes Double Back Card's effect to: On click: has no effect. - flips the numbers scratched off on Scratchcard by 90degrees so that they are more readable On Click consistency: - fixes cards with On Click effects to be more consistent when they are clicked while in the opponents play pile: Dark Flower - Now correctly discards and adds Halves to the card owners play pile Credit Card Knife - Now damages the card owners opponent Transit Card - Now correctly discards and moves card from card owners draw pile to the other draw pile Insurance Card - Now correctly burns the card owners card and takes card owners chips Encounter changes: - Bard now gives 49 chips (from 50) Sound changes: - adds a sound effect to the card fan animation when choosing a starting suit - fixes a bug where highlighting a card while one was burning would cut off the burn sound effect Clarity and QoL improvements: - adds future rooms to the event/encounter choice screen so that you see how far through the floor you are - speeds up the animation of the cards being dealt in the event/encounter choice screen - the player now starts with 25 chips to match the dealer's 25 - improve the wording of the Coin Flip event to make it clear what you are betting on before committing a card - changes skip event button and done shopping shop button to say leave instead - standardises the location of the leave buttons - changes skip card reward button to say skip rewards instead - changes the hoverable elements (like Chips, Advantage) to use a consistent position for their explanation text, rather than wherever the mouse was when it entered them - moves the lock icon so that it is partially visible even when other cards are covering the locked card in a pile Bug fixes: - caps Advantage at a maximum of 999 - fixes a bug where Sofa Sleeper event Give a Card option choice text was being set incorrectly - fixes a bug where a card played directly by Booster Pack whose on play effect meant that card was worth 11 or more did not trigger the Big Blind Chip - fixes a bug where cards in hand while having no Advantage would show up as grey when making a choice - fixes a bug where cards that had been burned during this encounter would be invisible when previewing deck - fixes a bug where the 8 card shop would not show the "not enough chips" error message - fixes a bug where Unique Chips were hoverable after being chosen in the Unique Chip Reward screen - fixes a bug where you could pay for an event that then required a choice (like counterfeiter or card removal shop) and then click the 'leave' button - fixes a couple of bugs to do with whether discard pile, draw pile, score card, and id card were being considered hoverable or navigatable while peeking - fixes a bug where clicking the land card with the mouse then clearing the pause menu meant it wasn't clickable again until some other action was taken (i.e. hitting, standing, playing a card) - fixes a bug where using a Credit Card Knife on a Trap Card would freeze the game - fixes a bug where bust limit exceeded effects weren't being triggered by cards like Jack in the Box and Flash Card - fixes a bug where the card art of Jack in the Box would not change for this encounter when changed to a Jack of All Trades by VIII Justice - fixes a bug where cards moved into play pile by opponent played that would usually go to hand were not clickable (i.e. played by SD Card or Booster Pack) - fixes a bug where the untraded cards from Trade Offer and the unchosen cards from Memory were not being added to The Collector/Gambler deck for the encounter afterwards - fixes a bug where the text on the sell choice on Charred Lizard still said 10 chips - fixes some issues where player settings files could get corrupted and have invalid sound and music volume settings - fixes a bug where clicking very quickly on the Memory event could cause strange behaviour - some minor performance improvements

Now live: v0.18 of the demo!

Happy New Year! At long last, Ive finally finished working on the v0.18 update to the demo. This is by far the biggest update Ive ever worked on for Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers and I am so excited to see you all enjoy it! Without further ado, here are the change notes: Advantage: - adds a new resource: Advantage - Advantage is required to play cards from your hand or to enact on click effects - Advantage is earned and spent during encounters, and resets to 0 at the end of each encounter Unique Chips: - After the Bartender encounter you will choose between one of two random Unique Chips. The Unique Chip chosen determines the way that you will earn Advantage for the current run: - Bargaining Chip On click: lose 10 chips and gain 1 Advantage. - Dealer Chip On stand: if you have a score of at least 17, gain 1 Advantage. - Chipotle Pepper On click: take 4 damage and gain 1 Advantage. - Chip On Your Shoulder On hit: if you already have a score of at least 12, gain 1 Advantage. - Blue Chip Start each encounter with 1 Advantage. On winning a round: gain 1 Advantage. - Big Blind Chip When you play a card that has a value of at least 11, gain 1 Advantage.
Encounter and Event randomisation: - After each event/encounter you now choose your next encounter/event between two randomly selected encounters/events - Shows the history of the current floor so you can see quickly how far through the floor you are - Spreads the lore/story across the floor rather than having it all on a big wall of text at the start of each floor
New Encounters and Events: Tavern: - Event: Counterfeiter Pay chips to increase or decrease the value of standard, non-face cards - Encounter: Knight of Cardonia - Encounter: Bard Basement: - Event: Crypto Bro Buy a Chipcoin, and attempt to sell it for a profit - Encounter: Witch Lounge: - Event: Coin Flip Choose a card to wager, then flip a coin to see if you get to keep it or not - Encounter: Wizard Shops: - Shop: Four Card this shop has only four cards to choose from, but they are all special cards, and are priced appropriately. - Shop: Slot Machine this shop has only three cards, and you have to buy all three at once, or none at all. But you can also spin to reroll and get three different cards...
Chip values: - rebalances lot of chip costs and rewards (this makes Diamonds a fair amount stronger) New cards: - Cardiovascular Exercise: On play: take 2 damage, gain 5 shield. - Lockpicking Card: On click: Unlock every card in play. - Credit Card Knife: On click: Lose 5 chips. Deal 5 damage. Increase the chip cost of this card by 5 for the rest of this encounter. - Cardecu: On play: gain 25 chips. - Carduus Acanthoides While in play: on taking 2 or more damage, deal 1 damage. - Transit Card On click: choose a card from your draw pile to put into your opponents draw pile, then discard this card.
Card reworks: - IV The Emperor: On play: Locks. On bust limit exceeded: deal damage equal to the amount bust limit exceeded by. - V The Hierophant: On play: Locks. On bust limit exceeded: heal equal to the amount bust limit exceeded by. - IX The Hermit: On play: gain 1 chip, heal 1 hp, gain 1 shield, gain 1 Advantage, deal 1 damage. - Insurance Card: On click: lose 21 chips, burn your most recently played card and this card. - Dark Flower: On click: Choose a suit and add three Halves of that suit into play, then discard this card. Halves created this way burn on discard. - Birthday Card: On play: permanently increase this card's value by 1. Once its permanent value reaches 21 its 'on play' effect becomes: Burn this card and put 5 Booster Packs in your hand. - Calamari Game Card: On play: Deal 3 damage to both players. While in play: if the opponent is defeated gain 100 chips. - Jack in a Box: On click: Open the box, randomly selecting a suit for this card and setting this card's value to 10. If the box is already open, close the box, setting this card's value to 0. Card buffs: - Old Baseball Card: On play: gain 10 Advantage - The Victim Card Now triggers on any damage taken, not just damage that lead to a loss of health - Official Trump Card now takes chips at 3x value instead of 5x value - Memory Card now creates a copy of the card on 1st play as well - III The Empress now locks an Ace of Hearts rather than an Eleven of Hearts - this reduces the chance of a Break Limits or a second III The Empress instantly ending your run Card nerfs: - changes the value of Memory Card to 8 (was 0) - reduces Charred Lizard sell value to 10 chips - I The Magician: On play: Puts cards into your draw pile: 2x magic trick card, 1x ace up your sleeve. Now live: v0.16 of the demo!

A smaller update this time, tidying up a couple of things after the big Lounge release. New stuff:

 • much juicier and more satisfying hit and stand button animations
 • nicer animation for earning chips
 • new click animation for the cursor
 • XXI The World rework:
 • Now triggers its effect on stand
 • When it chooses a random Tarot card it will now choose from all Tarot cards that have not been chosen by this copy of The World in this encounter. This means that it will go through all 22 Tarot cards before selecting the same one again, making it much less likely to (for example) draw 2x III The Empress leading you to be stuck with 2x 11 of Hearts locked forever. It also ensures the variety of XXI The World which is really the reason to play it anyway!
 • Now visually moves the newly created Tarot card into the draw pile

Clarity and visual improvements:
 • changes art for all suits at once to more clearly be a mash up of all four suits
 • adds a disabled theme so buttons look better when disabled after clicking them (i.e. during transition after skipping a reward)
 • sound volume settings now go back to zero if you click them again while they are 10 (so that touch screen users can reduce the volume)
 • better alignment of buttons and labels in the settings screen
Bug fixes:
 • fixes a bug with the Dark Mage where it could be used with no valid targets to skip the players turn
 • fixes a bug with the SD Card where if an opponent used it the on play effect of the new card would not be enacted
 • fixes the shop ID Card being 2 pixels lower than all the other ID Cards
 • fixes a bug where you could set your health to 0 by losing hp in the Sofa Sleeper event
 • fixes a bug where you could crash the game by clicking the same card twice in the Memory game event
 • changes the name of the Paparazzi (plural) to the correct Paparazza (singular, female)
 • potential fix for touchscreen inputs being counted twice in some cases causing the player to skip the next encounter/event

New cards: - Pi of Spades | Clubs | Diamonds | Hearts On play: Set the value of this card to 3. While in play: can be clicked to change the value of this card to the selected number.

Balance changes:
 • changes playing a card from your hand to act as taking your turn
 • support for stand points other than 4 under bust limit
 • Loyalty Card and Trump Card now set your score to match your bust limit (instead of 21)
 • Negative Aces reworked - they now behave like regular Aces - i.e. they will reduce their value automatically on bust limit exceeded rather than having to pick -1 or -11 when played
 • adds the 4 cards created by Terminate the Tower to the card reward pool

 • fixes a bug where Jack in Box that selected "nothings" as its suit would say "special" instead
 • fixes a bug where Gravecard number was in front of Card-aver hand
 • fixes a bug where cards that put other cards into the draw pile could never put that card on the bottom of the draw pile
 • fixes a bug where having multiple Blood Donor Cards would only trigger the healing and reduction effect once
 • fixes a bug where Glitched Card wouldnt play its effect when played from hand or from Booster Pack
 • fixes a bug where The Devil damage multiplier was being applied before clubs were added to the damage dealt

Now live: v0.13 of the demo!

New cards: - adds Yellow Card and Red Card to the game! Yellow Card: On play: Choose a card in opponent's play pile to mark with a Yellow Card, then put a Red Card into your draw pile. Red Card: On play: Burn any cards in your opponents play pile that are marked with a Yellow Card. On discard: Burns. New stuff: - adds an intent indicator to the opponent. This will show you when the opponent has already stood (and cannot take further actions) and what limit they will stand at - finally, a new and much improved cursor! - changes Blank Card effect to: On 1st play this encounter: choose the value (from 1 to 11) for the Blank Card to take for the rest of this encounter. - the escape key now pauses the game just like clicking the land card would. Note that this is only possible when the land card is clickable Bug fixes: - cards that add a card into the draw pile now insert it to a random position in the draw pile rather than shuffling the whole draw pile. This means that cards like Cue Card and Kanban Card work more consistently (unless of course the new card is inserted between Kanban and the chosen card) - card description updates to match the above change - cards now longer reset their art or suit to the default for that card when discarded - Glitched Card now correctly retains its suit, value, name after discarding - makes the card art of several cards match the recent font improvements - clarifies The Devil description (you need a winning blackjack to deal 6x damage) - fixes a bug where Loyalty Card wouldnt set score to 21 if its value was not 0 - fixes a bug where Gravecard that was swapped to opponents side could be rerolled endlessly - Memory card now visually moves the copied card into draw pile

On Discard: Burns. On burn: burn any Ones created by this card. - changes Gerald from Riviera's effect to 'On play: Select a card in your opponents play pile and burn it. You’ve played blackjack before…

In Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers you’ll travel through a tavern where everyone plays a very different version of blackjack to what you’re used to. You’ll have to master it to strike down the capitalists at the top that are profiting from the tavern’s manipulation of the blackjack-addicted townspeople.

But never with cards like these!

Every run you’ll build a new deck from a collection of over 175 unique cards, each with it’s own special effect. Will you use the powerful Tarot cards? Or perhaps you prefer the Business Card, or the Hall Pass? Or maybe you have an Ace Up Your Sleeve?

Just as your deck will be different every time, so will the way you wield the cards. One run you might be focused on drawing aces, while the next you are aiming to fill your opponents deck with bad draws.

And never in a place like this!

As you make your way through the tavern you’ll be presented with many choices - make sure you make the right one, as the consequences could catapult your run to greatness, or end it very quickly… Will you buy a loot box, open a booster pack, drink ale, or stay in the fancy room?

Disclaimers: Dungeons & Degenerate Gamblers contains no real currency gambling, no micro transactions, no loot boxes, no bait and switch tactics, no cryptocurrencies or NFTs, and definitely no Skinner Box “gameplay elements”. Any art that resembles art from other media is used only as a parody, to poke fun at predatory monetisation tactics, and the absurdity of how tried and true methods used to make adults addicted to gambling are now used by gaming’s largest companies to trap children in their lifelong whale nets. Problem gambling is a serious matter, if you or a loved one is affected please look up and contact your local problem gambling services.
