Final days of the Kickstarter Demo with new content!

There's just 10 days left in the StarCrawlers Chimera Kickstarter campaign and we are 85% of the way to our goal - it's been a whirlwind. If you were waiting to back, there's still time to grab spots in Alpha or a Beta copy at a discount! We've been busy adding feedback and fixes into the demo build you've all been playing, and we've just added in some bonus content for the final stretch :

The Widow's Lair

Located in the south-west corner of the demo map, the Widow's Lair appears empty at first inspection, but explorers who uncover enough of the map will face a powerful foe who drops a key to reveal what's lurking in the Lair. Word of warning : save that game before you use the key. If you've already defeated the powerful foe in your save, don't worry - the key will be waiting for you somewhere in the Lair. Check out the Widow's Lair and then [strike]rage[/strike] share your feelings in the comments! Remember, we'll be ending the playtest demo when the campaign ends on 22 June. However if you're an Alpha Backer, you'll be able to jump into the first few levels of the game at the end of the month! Thanks all! - Thunderflux

StarCrawlers 1.1.4 - Big Beautify Update

StarCrawlers has been updated with a Beautify feature! This optional feature enhances texture fidelity and sharpness, lighting appearance and effects, and enhances visuals overall. In the course of working on our next project (more news soon!) we experimented with retroactively applying the visual upgrades to StarCrawlers - and it worked steamhappy The Beautify feature should not have any noticeable impact on the performance or resource usage of the base game. Beautify is enabled by default and can be turned off in the Graphics menu if desired.

StarCrawlers v1.1.3

PC patch is live now - OSX & Linux patches will be live today.

Hacking

StarCrawlers Patch Notes 19 Dec 2018

StarCrawlers v1.1.2

A bunch of festive fixes and tweaks to hacking and the base game have arrived. Unfortunately, the coolant towers on STIX have overloaded again - enjoy the snow while it lasts!

Base Game

  • Updated StarCrawlers to Unity 2018.2.11f1.
  • Festive gifts have been spotted on missions. In the spirit of the holidays, be sure to steal them.
  • Fixed issue with effects that update their duraton at end of turn sometimes updating at the start also and so shortening duration considerably.
  • Fixed issues with some events that could display no options to proceed.
  • Fixed issue on Final Boss Fight preventing use of combat inventory after phase 1.
  • Fixed Crabomination being able to create an infinite loop of the ability Alpha Strike.
  • Fixed item duplication that could occur after looting a chest with a fully inventory.

Linux

  • Stability should be improved when using the supported distro of Ubuntu 10.04 (or newer).
  • Text entry fields should no longer input characters twice.

Hacking

  • Du Bei in the Hackshop now offers special missions to perform remote hacks from the safety of STIX: no physical danger to your crawlers and your identity will be protected - as long as your Deck Masking holds.
  • Jacking out of a remote hack mission prior to completing your objective will fail the mission.
  • Base health of enemies in Hacking reduced.
  • Base cost of items in Hackshop reduced.
  • Successful node operations play a sound now.
  • Group configuration for enemy hacking systems given additional randomization.
  • Damage to enemies and to player that is fully absorbed by a Barrier effect correctly displays floating numbers and log entries.
  • Fixed issue with generated hacking maps having some nodes unconnected.
  • Fixed clones created by Dupe from setting the player decks health to their health value.
  • Dazzle and Flares were receiving too much Stun value per level.
  • Multi-hit attacks (like Shiv) now show damage per hit vs. min to max range.
  • Fixed issue prevent Overwatch from initiating its effect on enemies.
  • Equipping a Utility that modifies max HP / MP now converts current values to a percentage of the new ones (just like Health in the meatworld) instead of just changing the max value.
  • Du Bei will now offer to heal the % missing of your deck HP (instead of charging a flat fee for a full heal, regardless of missing health).
  • Deck HP & MP are displayed during node hacking events to give you better information about whether you want to risk them during node operations.
  • Being jacked out by an event or fleeing combat now returns you to the meatworld properly.
  • Fixed hacking programs carrying from game to new game.
  • Fixed crit and damage reduction values being miscalculated resulting in always / never critting and no / massive damage reduction.
  • Fixed Deck button during hacking becoming unresponsive after completing a previous hack.
  • Fixed several issues caused by using Fast Combat Animations during Hacking.
  • Fixed Mimics mimicking Mimics that could lead to mimiception.

Misc

  • Minor text fixes.
Happy Holidays from StarCrawlers!

StarCrawlers v1.1.1 - Hotwire Update is LIVE

StarCrawlers v1.1.1 - Hotwire Update

Hotwire Patch Deployed! Details inside...

The Hotwire Update is live and it’s FREE. Originally intended as DLC, we’ve reworked and integrated all of the content from Hotwire into the base StarCrawlers game as a free update for all players. Here’s what’s inside:

Hacking

  • Hacking is now a fully developed and separate system that works alongside the base game.
  • Datajacks will now spawn on randomized missions allowing access to the virtual Wire network which connects all of the systems of the map you’re on.
  • Using your Deck, jack in and ride the Wire to encounter 35+ new enemies and discover 25+ new abilities exclusive to hacking.
  • The Hackshop in STIX sells Programs and Utilities to beef up your Deck and tackle the toughest denizens of the Wire.
  • Enemy programs guard the Wire and change depending on the type of network, security rating of their nodes, and other factors to give a different feel to each network you hack.
  • New hacking element types (Security, Corruption, and Deception) each have their own enemies and program types for you to unlock and use both in hacking combat and when interacting with nodes.
  • Nodes in the network control security doors, alert levels, contain loot data, and more. Hack your way to the Core and crash it to bring the system down and stick to the megacorps.
  • Now that hacking is live, more hacking specific content is in the works (and will arrive Sooner™)!

Additional Patch Notes for v1.0.4

Tip Jar

  • We’ll be supporting ongoing development of StarCrawlers with free updates and content patches by adding a Tip Jar button to the title screen. If you enjoy the Hotwire Update and want to see more of it (and new stuff!), please consider showing your support with a $1 tip!
  • Tipping confers no in-game advantage and never will (but we’ll think you’re really cool) and amount may vary in your local currency as determined by Steam.
  • If the Tip Jar bothers you, simply click the Hide Tip Jar button and you’ll never see it again.

Story

  • Fixed a plot hole that could allow a certain character to randomly appear on the final mission (despite your refusal to work with them earlier in the story).
  • Firing the Prototype allows it to be rehired from the STIX bar - possibly. It may wander off and do its own thing if it feels like it.

Smuggler

  • Sped up animation of Showdown crosses on target when stacks are greater than 3.

Linux

  • Unsupported resolutions checks are no longer ignored on Linux as a workaround - as such, you may need to adjust your resolution and reset your preferences if you are playing on Linux with a non-3:4 display.
  • If you encounter issues with your resolution on Linux - please let me know your distro and native resolution in the forums so I can support as many as possible.
  • Double typing on text entry is still a known issue - Unity has not patched it. Investigation continues!

Other notes

  • Fixed additional elusive typos.
  • Minor bug fixes and QOL improvements.
  • Known issue (non fatal) with event entering hackshop for the first time that can cause a sentence be skipped.

Winter Event & That Bug

UPDATED: 12/8/2017

A new version of StarCrawlers for Windows x64 users is live on the beta branch using the just released Unity 2017.3 Beta. Please note this is a beta of the next Unity engine update, so may a) be unstable and b) not solve That Bug. Local tests of builds continue to NOT reproduce That Bug, but this does not mean it is solved. If while playing the beta branch you do encounter a crash when endning a missiom, please let me know. The fight continues!

ORIGINAL POST :

Hi all! With the start of December I wanted to post an update to let everyone know what's going on.

Winter Event

I had hoped to set the Winter Event live this week, but due to That Bug having a crushing effect on the game for a majority of players, I've decided not to introduce further chances at instability until the bug is resolved. If the situation changes before the end of the month, I'll revisit the event.

That Bug

It really sucks. Players returning from a mission to STIX encounter a hard crash. Sometimes it happens on every mission, sometimes only rarely, but it happens to a lot of players. Here's all the information to date:
  • Why is this crash happening? The Unity player is attempting to clean up the Mission scene after you load the STIX scene. While this is happening, a crash occurs when attempting to destroy *something* in the scene.
  • Why don't you just fix it? Because the bug is not with my code, but the underlying Unity engine that runs StarCrawlers, so there is nothing I can change in the code to address the bug. I can identify where the crash happens and what triggers it, but there is no fix I can apply other than forwarding this information to Unity and waiting for a release that addresses the bug.
  • When will a fix come? Unity has a roadmap of releases that indicates a similar issue (though not specifically this bug) will be fixed with the release of Unity 2017.3, which is expected mid-December. If the release does fix the bug and doesn't introduce new engine bugs (something I'm afraid feels more common with each release) - the crash will stop happening.
  • What happens now? We're continuing to test workarounds while we wait for a fix from Unity, but until the bug is resolved, further patches and dev on the expansion will be on hold until I'm sure that we've reached a point of stability with the base game. My hope is the next Unity update will resolve the issue!
  • I have more questions! Post away in the forums or the comments below - I'm always listening :)

StarCrawlers Hacking DLC is in the works!

Hack Mode is Coming We're excited to announce work has begun on the first DLC for StarCrawlers, and it's all about Hacking! Here's how it will work :

1. When Hack Mode launches, a free update will activate the hacking system for all players. 2. Hack Mode will connect things in the meat world (security doors, terminals, objectives, etc) with nodes in the local Wire network of your mission location. Locating a datajack will allow you to hack into the network, explore, control nodes, and fight new enemy types that exist only in the Wire. 3. To fight enemies and navigate the Wire, you’ll need specialized gear. All players will start with a basic Deck to upgrade and equip with programs and utilities to boost your hacking power. Hacking gear can be found within the Wire, from corporate contacts, and a shady new storefront opening in STIX… 4. A Hack Mode DLC will be available for purchase that adds a new story campaign, new deck programs and utilities, and meat world rewards, but owning the Hack Mode DLC won’t be required to enjoy hacking in StarCrawlers.

We’ll have more information about Hack Mode soon!

Boss Mode, Lore Items 30+ new achievements and… Launch Date!

The final patch of Early Access is live and StarCrawlers will be launching on

May 16th!

NEW FEATURE: Boss Mode

  • The corps are sick of your meddling and have deployed bosses to defend their property!
  • Boss mobs can now spawn on all generated missions, increasing in strength, ability and loot rarity as you level up or choose harder missions. Boss mobs have several unique abilities and present a substantially tougher threat than average mobs.
  • At level 5+, bosses have a chance to spawn. This chance scales to 100% at higher levels.
  • Corporations that are hostile to you have have an increased chance to spawn bosses.
  • At level 25+, specialized boss squads may deploy that present a unique challenge.
  • At level 25+, bosses have a chance to drop named legendary weapons and gear.
  • NOTE : Named Legendary drops will not be active until launch day!

NEW FEATURE: Lore Items

  • Inquisitive crawlers can now find Lore Items on their adventures that contain information concerning the different factions in the StarCrawlers universe.
  • Collected lore items can be reviewed in the Info Log under the new Dossier tab.
  • Collecting all 5 Lore Items for a subject and compiling them grants a unique Dossier item that can be auctioned at the Black Market.

NEW FEATURE: Eon Trading

  • A private buyer has contracted with Draal in the Black Market to acquire Eon Cubes from the corps. Draal is trading exotic gear in exchange for Eon Cubes ‘obtained’ on your runs.

NEW FEATURE: Steam Achievements

  • Added 30 Steam Achievements - more will be activated at launch!

Save / Load

  • Story and Normal difficulty games are now able to create mid-mission saves at any time.
  • Challenge and Hardcore difficulty games continue to have access to Quicksave and Exit.
  • Abort Mission has been removed. To successfully exit a mission, you’ll have to make it to one of several conveniently lit exit doors. No free escapes :D
  • It is now possible to Exit to Title from within a mission without saving progress.

Maps & Gear

  • Shields no longer prevent critical hits. Based on user feedback and testing, fun charge abilities that build through crits were being severely restrained by crit-proof shields. Note this means mobs can crit through your shields too...
  • Armor now also blocks elemental damage. Blocking only physical damage made choosing heavier armors an inferior choice. With improved crit-proofing, health boosting, and the removal of the standard TU penalty, heavy armor should be a more attractive choice.
  • Added new themed items and item spawn locations to all map types.
  • Reduced mob combat drop rate and increased drop rates on gear. As a result, mobs will start dropping less cred loot and start dropping more gear.
  • Fixed missing icons for Alyssa Tickets and Christina Faith Headshot items (will not affect items already in inventory)
  • No longer possible for Draal to steal the Prototype’s AI Core or prevent the player from canceling an auction with no bidders, forcing them to sell the item.
  • Black Market, Shop, and Medbay refresh inventory if you wait instead of taking a mission in the Bar.
  • Expanded player stash to hold 32 items.
  • Repair Kits no longer spawn in the shop as they (currently) have no use.

Levelling & Missions

  • Recalculated XP levels to include New Game+ and New Game ++ scaling. XP requirements and distribution from quests / mobs will ramp faster at lower levels.
  • Adjusted XP gains from missions to add more reward boosting when running Challenging / Extreme missions, reduce gains from Cakewalk / Easy missions.
  • Adjusted cred rewards from missions to add more differentiation based on difficulty overall.
  • Added IntelliFoam Canisters to give you a shot of xp. Use them immediately or save them for those lazy crawlers hanging back at STIX. YOU DECIDE!

Mobs

  • In response to crawler aggression, mobs have learned new tricks.
  • Shield absorption by mobs has been standardized. Each shield charge will absorb the same amount for a mob of a given level.
  • Max shield charges on several common mobs reduced.
  • Mob armor block has been standardized. Armor will block the same amount for a mob of a given level.

Misc

  • Inventory items in your Backpack or Stash can be swapped by dropping icons on each other.
  • Fixed doors getting confused about their state if a mob was defeated next to an open door.
  • Fixed an issue preventing combat effects triggered from events (ex: Smuggler killing a mob before combat begins) being applied correctly.
  • Effects that cannot be purged / cleansed are displayed with different icons in combat to make them distinct from buffs / debuffs.
  • Fixed Cyberninja’s Expose Weakness incorrectly stating it consumes all Combo Points on the target - it does not!
  • Fixed Cyberninja’s Flurry incorrectly calculating damage range based on Combo Points.
  • Fixed Void Psyker’s Cosmic Horror not gaining charges from Blind or Vulnerability.
  • Fixed Void Psyker’s Miasma not becoming available to cast again after expiring.
  • Fixed tooltips for Cyberninja Dash in Ability and combat.
  • Fixed the Cursed Cube of Atroxxis appearing in maps and attempting to suck your soul into the ether. If you accidently looked into its Hideous Shadowy Depths and this occured, please consider filing a bug report - thanks Cybrid 0x0t2md2W!
  • Optimized load times when returning from a mission to STIX.
  • Minor text fixes.

Upcoming Launch Date Announcement and Boss Mode

Mjolnir Squad is ready for you. You better bring your own thunder... Hey everyone, Thunderflux here! Thanks for all the great feedback on the new abilities and changes in Tipsy Tarantula - there's two big things coming soon, so let’s get right to it:

Launch Date Announcement and Boss Mode

  • On April 3rd I’ll be announcing the launch date for StarCrawlers 1.0. The launch date is set and I’m working with a video producer to get a trailer and some other cool things in place for the announcement. It won't be long after the announce until launch, so hang in there :D
  • The next (and final final) update for Early Access will add one big feature before launch: Boss Mode. All missions will have a chance to spawn a Boss mob with new abilities, rare loot, and boosted power. At higher difficulty levels, you might face teams of Bosses (like Mjolnir Squad above) and have a chance to loot Named Legendary gear with unique effects. I’ll be talking more about Boss Mode as we get closer to the next patch!

A Huge Thank You

On a personal note, I’m really excited to be nearing launch after such a great EA experience. I firmly believe that the great community around StarCrawlers has improved the game immensely and that is what EA is meant to be about! Many of you have been following the game and playing it since very early in production and have been regulars on the forums with feedback, bug reports (few of those :D) and discussions about mechanics and features you’d like to see - your involvement has added so much to the game. Thank you.

Additional Changes

As always, I can’t respond to every post, but I read everything, and I appreciate anyone who takes the time to report a bug, toss me some feedback, or gripe about a mechanic. To that end, here’s a preview of a few things that are changing based on your feedback:
  • Crits are fun. Abilities that build charges with crits and obliterate the enemy are also fun! Shields block crits. This is not fun. Shields will no longer block crits in the next patch. Note that this also applies to mobs critting you through shields, so they think this is fun too.
  • Armor will once again block elemental damage in addition to physical damage, making armor type a more meaningful choice. This also applies to mobs, so they ask that you don’t bring any armor destroying attacks or weapons.
  • Less credit drops from mobs, more gear. Common mobs will drop slightly less loot overall, but what they do drop will always be a piece of gear.
  • More environment lootables. All environment types will have more loot plucked right out of the environment and new item types.
  • More random events in all environment types. No more looting just nude pics!
  • Expanded stash size on STIX so you can horde all the medkits.
  • Mobs of all types have received new abilities.
  • Lots of other improvements and tweaks!

Tipsy Tarantula v14 - Patch 03.04.2017 (Part 1 of 2)

Due to the massive amount of changes, patch notes will be split into two parts. Get comfy...

PART 1 OF 2

We’ve been taking in an enormous amount of feedback and suggestions on combat, and this patch is all about it! Thank you to everyone submitting feedback and bug reports, we hope everything will find something they like in the Tipsy Tarantula patch. After experiencing the patch, let us know what you think about the changes in this handy feedback thread: http://steamcommunity.com/app/318970/discussions/2/133258593396281495/

Stat Changes

  • Health has been recalculated to lower the cap for players. When loading a save from a previous build, your team may have current health that exceeds the new maximum. This will be addressed in a future patch, but enjoy the excess health while it lasts! :D

Combat Changes

  • Combat speed and damage for both mobs and players has been revised. You should find combat at lower levels to be quicker and deadlier overall, with difficulty ramping more smoothly as you advance towards level 30.
  • Many classes have picked up Regeneration and healing abilities in their support trees. These become more important at higher levels to sustain your team against tougher enemies and reduce reliance on using medkits.
  • Regeneration heals at the start of a character’s turn. A character can only have 1 active Regeneration effect on them, with stronger effects overriding weaker ones.
  • Several of the more deadly abilities have had their damage caps adjusted and require building charges to use them at full potential. This creates more opportunities to build power over the course of a run instead of just popping your nukes each battle. Looking at you, Hellfire Salvo.
  • Several debuffs have been standardized to make them easier to recognize in action: Blind reduces hit chance, Burn deals damage over time, Shock reduces Energy resistance, Corruption converts buffs into damage, and Vulnerability increases damage taken by the target.
  • Mobs will be updated in the next patch with new abilities and buffs.

Gear Changes

  • Heavy Armor no longer has a Time Unit penalty, but a dodge penalty.
  • Light melee weapons and pistols provide a bonus to dodge.
  • Heavy melee weapons and heavy weapons have a penalty to dodge.
  • Medkits can once again be used by the Prototype. The mechanic of having a separate healing item just for the Proto sounded fun, but in play was found to be less so.
  • The damage reduction for shields and armor has been reduced and damage ranges across all three types brought slightly closer together.
  • These changes do not affect gear generated in previous builds, but you will experience unbalanced play if you choose to use legacy gear.

Soldier

    Tactician
  • Meat Shield no longer provides a flat amount of damage reduction but grants a meaty barrier to absorb incoming damage based on average weapon damage.
  • Defiance (Rank 3) no longer boosts Threat but instead allows the Soldier to cheat death.
  • Best Defense (Rank 3)now reduces enemy damage dealt.
  • Bloodthirst is now a passive ability that heals the Soldier when they deal critical damage, taunts targets that are critically hit, and boosts crit chance when combat begins.
  • Juggernaut and As One have switched places in the ability tree.
  • As One now begins combat with an 8 turn cooldown that is reduced each time the Soldier taunts and has gained boosted hit and critical hit bonuses.
  • Juggernaut now gains charges as the Soldier taunts and can be used for an emergency damage reduction, heal, and retaliation attack. Demolition
  • The Soldier has taken their relationship with explosions and fire to the next level.
  • Frag Grenade (Rank 2) now Burns the primary target for bonus damage when it crits.
  • Rocket Strike (Rank 2) now gains boosted accuracy
  • Bouncing Betty (Rank 2) now Burns the primary target for bonus damage when it crits.
  • Magnetronc Bomb (Rank 2) now causes Bomblets it detonates to Burn targets for bonus damage when they deal critical damage.
  • Hellfire Salvo now gains charges as the Soldier applies Burn to enemies and boosts the duration and damage of Burn effects on targets in damages. Charges persist between combats.
  • Removed UXO ability.
  • NEW ABILITY : This Is Fine (Passive) Boost damage and crit when you set things on fire. Learn to love fire so much that it heals you while you’re on fire.
  • Boom King (Rank 2) tosses a bomblet when you crit a target afflicted by Burn. Marksman
  • Crack Shot (Rank 2) now also Dazes the target on a critical hit.
  • Custom Armor now grants a buff and small heal at the start of combat if the Soldier has positive rep with the manufacturer of their armor. This effect is boosted as rep increases.
  • Flare now deals Fire damage on impact and can Blind and Burn the target.
  • Kill Count now boosts the Soldier every 5 points and has added bonuses at higher ranks.
  • Hot Streak (Rank 2) now Burns the target for bonus damage when it crits.
  • The Specialist now requires 10 charges to activate. Score critical hits to charge!

Hacker

    Root Hack
  • Overheat now has a 30/60/100% chance to Stun immediately, deals a portion of its damage immediately, and deals increased damage over time.
  • Scramble now deals damage immediately and bonus damage if the target is Stunned.
  • Root Hack now deals damage on impact and Charms for 1 turn maximum, but cannot miss and has a high success chance vs. normal mobs on the first use.
  • Exploit now persists for 1 turn, cannot miss, and no longer consumes Stun on the target.

  • Corruption is now Decay and can apply the Corrupt effect.
  • Logic Bomb (Rank 3) has a chance to instantly kill common enemies.
  • Black Ice (Rank 3) has a chance to instantly kill common enemies. Optimization
  • Hotlink now deals damage immediately in addition to each turn.
  • Time Release now grants your weakest ally Regeneration.
  • Multi Core now also heals allies for each Hacker buff they have.
  • Ex Machina now requires charges of Optimization to activate, but is only slightly less OP than you remember. Plus it heals everyone. :O

Void Psyker

    Summoner
  • Shadowcoil attack speed increased.
  • Misery has been redesigned and now gives your summons a chance to apply Blind, Corrupt or Vulnerable to foes when scoring a critical hit. Higher ranks can spread these afflictions or deal bonus damage.
  • Void Psykers will no longer constantly be driven to madness after using Eldritch Horror. The chance will now properly reset each time you go insane.
  • Eldritch Horror now demands tributes by applying Blind, Corrupt and Vulnerable to enemies and summons a different entity depending on the whims of the Void. Don’t use this ability.

Cyberninja

    Assassination
  • Abilities that consume Combo Points to deal damage now deal nonlinear increased damage.
  • New Mechanic : Death Notes. Critical hits from Assassin abilities can add Death Notes, granting a chance to instantly kill common enemies.
  • Expose Weakness now applies Vulnerable to the target and lasts until the end of their turn.

Merry Quicksavemas!

It’s been an intense two weeks of reworking large chunks of code, but it is now possible to Quicksave your progress midmission and reload it from the title screen. Please note this feature is highly experimental in this build and may not behave as expected when reloading a game - you may lose progress or be unable to continue with your mission. If you do encounter an issue, please let me know the details and, if possible, email your autosave.sc file so I can attempt to reover your team. Creating a manual save in STIX is the most secure way to preserve your game. Support and feedback threads have been set up in the Bug Reports and General Discussions forums and I’ll be back to work shortly after Christmas, so if you encounter an issue, don’t panic - just post and let me know :D Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! - Thunderflux

StarCrawlers Patch Notes 11/11

[img=http://i.imgur.com/6AqA88d.jpg] Launch, custom character portraits, fear, Allure Cybergenetics and Dablue Yutaki are here! The Hallowed Mün has set for another cycle, but don’t worry, Skull Candy stays fresh forever.

Launch!

Originally we had planned on a launch date in Fall 2016, but we were fortunate enough to receive some additional funding that will allow us to spend extra time on polishing existing content and adding more content for launch - extra missions, events, items, and player suggestions. We have a launch date picked out in Spring 2017 and will announce it at the start of next year. We believe taking the extra time to polish and add more content will help make StarCrawlers even better. If you have questions or comments, please feel free to share them in the forums!

Custom Portraits

In the Overview menu, you can now click the Edit button to rename and change the art for each character. Thank you to eharper256 for the original suggestion and everyone who gave feedback on the Steam forums for this feature! If you'd like templates to work with, you can find them here.

  • The Prototype is immune to fear.

UI

StarCrawlers Patch Notes - 9/30 - More Faction Events!

A smaller (and sooner) patch this week as we're doing an optimization / bug fix patch in the next two week cycle which is less exciting - but necessary! This patch brings several new contact events on the Wire terminal, new items from those factions, and some bug fixes and gamma improvements.

Please note!

The method of applying gamma adjustment has changed. You will likely need to reset your player preferences or adjust your gamma on the title screen if you had previously adjusted gamma. Please also note! If your ESC hotkey (or any other hotkey) is not working, simply reset your player preferences from the Options menu on the title screen.

Factions

  • UFP loyalists can now receive all of the services from contacting Horizon Robotics.
  • Supporters of Aurora Starliners can now receive all of their services.
  • Dissidents supporting Workers United can now receive all of their support.
  • Emer LT, fiercely loyal to the UFP, can now be contacted via the Wire terminal in STIX.
  • Anulap, telecom giant of the UFP, can now be contacted via the Wire terminal in STIX.
  • Riggo’s Fine Spirits, fiercely loyal to partying, can now be contacted from the Wire terminal.

Items

  • Added new unique items obtainable with favor when contacting factions.
  • High-value items stolen from pirates now have a wider array of potential bidders at auction.

UI

  • Added new method for gamma control that avoids the nightmare of adjusting ambient lighting. The method of scaling has changed, so you may need to adjust your gamma settings to achieve the desired level.
  • Clarified info in the Wire terminal to indicate that factions with Neutral or lower rep may not wish to communicate with you.
  • Effects and Abilities that pull characters in the timeline will not cause low level Time Units (0 - 5) to increase.

Cyberninja

  • Cyclone Kick will now also hit targets that have the same TU as the Cyberninja once the ability is executed.

Engineer

  • Bolty will no longer occasionally fly upside and shoot at the ceiling when performing Strafe.

Smuggler

  • Kalmonri Trap now deals the correct amount of damage when attacked by enemies.

Void Psyker

  • Siphon Life (Rank 3) Detonation will now correctly hit all mobs.
  • Void Shell now correctly only shows damage reflection on the effect description at Rank 3.
  • Fixed an issue causing crawlers to bizarrely state their class when encountering pirates which have been terrified by the Void Psyker.

Fixes

  • Fixed wall placement issue in Mines.
  • Fixed an issue with item upgrades that applied buffs inadvertently removing other buffs.
  • Fixed an issue that could cause NPC merc gear to become removeable and fail to regenerate shields at the start of combat.
  • Events that give items will now attempt to create a loot cache nearby (if on a mission) or send you the item in the mail, if your inventory is full when the item is given.
  • Fixed an issue with a certain boss incorrectly scaling to a lower level when faced on Challenge+ difficulty.
Coming Soon
  • More friendly faction contact events:
  • Allure Cybergenetics

  • An enhanced way to interact with StarCrawlers.
  • More cool stuff!

StarCrawlers Patch Notes - 9/24 - Upgrade Complete!

Today’s patch adds 125+ new weapon, armor, and shield upgrades and improvements to inspecting and activating upgrades. They’ll be some fixing and polishing of the upgrades as we go and a few more added before launch - let us know what you think!

Gear

  • Heavy Weapon attacks now destroy a portion of enemy armor with each hit vs. just piercing it. This allows Heavy Weapons to provide better support if most of the team is dealing physical damage or the enemy has high Armor and Resistances to overcome.
  • By popular demand, equipped gear can now be unequipped without needing a replacement item. This should make swapping items between characters more convenient. Default gear will be equipped in place of the unequipped item. Default gear has no value, cannot be enhanced, and is destroyed when replaced with an actual item.
  • Also by popular demand, items with upgrades can now be inspected using Shift-click to display the details of their upgrades without visiting the upgrade station.

Upgrades

  • All generated weapons now deal Physical damage by default. Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary weapons have gained upgrades that convert the damage to an elemental type and further modify the weapon based on rarity.
  • Added 32 class upgrades to weapons that activate special buffs in combat when wielded by the correct class. Upgrades come in Uncommon, Rare, Epic and Legendary flavors.
  • After a lengthy legal battle, Siyama has secured the patents to their Corrosive, Burning, Chilling and Thundering weapon upgrades. These upgrades will only appear on authorized Siyama weaponry in the future.
  • Items generated prior to today’s patch may have inconsistent or odd combinations of upgrades as older / placeholder upgrades will be replaced with a fallback upgrade. The alternative was making save files from previous versions incompatible. And that would suck.

Soldier

  • Weapon Specialist now correctly resets its cooldown when dealing a killing blow.

Hacker

  • Fixed an issue with the Hacker Chrome Slinger and Burning Chrome Slinger that could cause a save to fail to load. Older saves containing these items should now load correctly.

UI

  • Fixed scrollbar in Wire Terminal misbehaving - thanks Noel!
  • Items with upgrades can now be Shift-clicked to view the upgrade details at any time.
  • The interface of the Omni Upgrade Station in the shop has been improved.

Misc Fixes

  • The Voidonomicon accessory chance to drive the Void Psyker insane no longer increases with each use (though it may still drive you insane).
  • Fixed doors into space that could spawn in a lab map.
  • It is no longer possible to glitch the Launch Mission button with no mission selected.
  • Fixed cases where the Arial font would not display (Combat Log, Lexicon flavor text, etc)
  • Fixed Void Energy and Malfunction combat widgets not displaying correctly.
  • Minor text fixes.
Coming Soon
  • More friendly faction contact events.
  • More cool stuff!

PAX West Achieved Hotfix is GO

We're back from PAX! It was an exciting 4 days and amazing to meet so many people and spread the word about StarCrawlers - a huge thank you to the players, volunteers, PAX Enforcers, and Indie Megabooth - now straight back into development!

If you picked up a secret code when PAX, the code is now live in this update.

Unity 5.4 introduced an engine bug when caching font data that causes critical lag when triggering events / interactions with lots of text (you might have noticed a bit of text in StarCrawlers), so a small delay became deadly for us. A workaround has been applied and should resolve the issue on all platforms - thank you for your patience while I diagnosed and resolved the issue!

StarCrawlers Patch Notes - 08/31/2016 - Hero Backstories!

Hero Backstory

Sneaking in under the wire before we head out to PAX West - Hero Backstories! When starting a new game, you’ll design a backstory for your hero character by choosing what your childhood was like, how you became your class, and what twist of fate has sent you to the Fringe to become a crawler. Each origin is unique and can affect starting stats, rep, gear, event options and more for your hero. We’ll be tweaking and adding to this system as we go, so please let us know what you think! Already have a game going? No worries, we’ve got you covered - existing heroes that have no history will be prompted to create one after returning to STIX from a mission.

Please Note!

If clicking "Proceed" while creating a hero backstory does not actually proceed, you may need to use "Back" and select a different option - some histories are experimental and in-progress.

Quick Fixes

  • Updated engine to Unity 5.4
  • “FLANGE” will no longer be generated as a Black Market passcode word. Because that’s six letters, obviously.

Hotfixes Hot Loot - StarCrawlers Patch Notes - 8/22/2016

Quick update to address bugs and activate the final feature of the Black Market - Auctioning! Stolen faction items now have a quality rating of 1 to 5 stars and can be put up for auction with Draal at the Black Market. Prospective clients will place bids of credits, rep, favor and sometimes rare gear, to win the auction - pick the bid you like and cash in! Take care though, the original owners won’t be pleased you’re hawking their stolen goods on the open market...

New Feature

  • Added Black Market Auction! Steal stuff and fence it for fun and profit.

Important Fix

  • Fixed issue with camera attempting to autocenter when moving with Permanent Free-Look. If you are experiencing a camera stutter when moving with Permanent Free-Look enabled, please try resetting your Player Preferences from the title screen.

StarCrawlers Patch Notes - 8/19/2016

PAX West 2016

We’re excited to announce we’re off to PAX West to show StarCrawlers in the Indie Megabooth! If you’re attending PAX, stop by and say “hi!” to get some sweet loot (maybe something in-game too, if you’re savvy :D) As we’ll be heading out of town next Friday, we’re dropping a mini-patch today with some new content, systems, and bug fixes. Dig in!

The Black Market

Draal has been sprucing up the Black Market with some additional amenities: Part I: Draal now accepts any passcodes you might find while crawling (or exploring in real life) and rewards you with unique items. Keep your eyes peeled! Speaking of which, you can follow us on Twitter:

@Juggernaut_News

Part II (Coming Soon) : High Value items looted on runs will have expanded value outside of selling for hard credit (though you’ll still be able to do that too) and may trigger unique events...

Favor

To clear up some confusion around factions and reputation vs. favor, we’ve exposed the favor stat. Favor is accrued with factions that you have a Valued or higher rep with and can be exchanged for rewards by contacting the faction through the Wire Terminal on the station. The amount you currently have (up to a maximum of 10) can be viewed in the Info Log or at the Wire Terminal. If you’ve got a lot banked, call up the faction and see what they can do for you!

Systems

  • Wire Terminal and Info Log now display accrued Favor with factions.
  • The Favor cost of a reward is shown when selecting a reward option in a Wire contact event.

Factions

  • Horizon can now help with negative rep with Rhyzohm and Emer LT in exchange for favor.
  • Riggo’s Fine Liquours can now be contacted from the Wire Terminal (but don’t expect them to be much help - yet).

Hacker

  • Implemented all ranks of Timed Release.
  • Hacker Optimizations abilities & effects now correctly apply to all allies and NPCs.
  • Ex Machina (Rank 3) now reduces the duration of all negative effects on allies.
  • Optimization now increases all damage caused for allies by 2% (down from 3%).

Cyberninja

  • Abilities in the Combination tree that utilize punches & kicks to deal physical damage no longer require a melee weapon equipped.
  • Ambush can now trigger up to 3/4/5 times per turn but now only triggers when allies dodge.
  • Ambush (Rank 2) now reduces the Time Units of the Cyberninja by 10 with each activation.
  • Ambush now correctly requires a melee weapon equipped to activate.
  • Replaced Laserchain Kunai with Cyclone Kick.
  • NEW ABILITY : Cyclone Kick. Sends the Cyberninja flying through the battlefield and delivers a powerful kick attack to any enemy the Cyberninja passes in the timeline when the ability is activate. Cyclone Kick cannot miss and cannot be dodged.
  • Takedown now strikes all enemies with Combo Points.

Events

  • New events added for Mines.
  • New events options added for Dirty Moves Smugglers.

UI

  • Newer model medkits have improved instructions printed on them.
  • Fixed mail loading incorrectly when loading a save from STIX.
  • Fixed highlight masking on Save / Load menu.
  • Scrollbars should now correctly respond to the scrollwheel in all instances. If you spot a scrollbar that isn’t behaving correctly, please let us know!

Items

  • Certain rare accessories can now have combat abilities attached to them. If you equip one you’ll see an extra icon on the Ability Wheel in combat that will allow you to activate its ability.

Misc Fixes

  • It is no longer possible to assign Ability Points to a dead crawler.
Coming Soon
  • Black Market (Part II) - Auctioning off those Hot Items.
  • More unique gear.
  • More friendly faction contact events.
  • More cool stuff!
Psst... 817D2-573F1-71AF2

StarCrawlers Patch Notes - 8/12/2016

The latest update has docked! Here's what's happening... We heard you like fleeing, so now you can attempt to flee from combat. If you are successful at fleeing, you’ll have a short window of opportunity to put some distance between you and the mob before it can engage you in combat again. This is an experimental system, so please share feedback on how it feels. In a hurry? We’ve also added an option in the Controls menu to speed up combat animations - please note this will cause audio synch issues, so use at your own discretion. There’s a ton of bug fixes, balance tweaks, and other fun stuff too. Dive in!

Systems

  • Added option to speed up combat animations in the ESC -> Options -> Controls menu.
  • Added Flee ability to combat. This ability is available to all characters and is selected from the Ability wheel.
  • Your chance of successfully fleeing is calculated based on your team’s aggregate gear (faster & lighter equipment = better odds), status effects on enemies (Stuns, Blinds, Charms, etc), and other factors (is it a boss, rare spawn, etc).
  • Bosses, event encounters, and certain unique mobs prevent or reduce the chance of fleeing.
  • Failing to flee will Daze all allies for 2x the Time Unit cost of their weapon.
  • Successfully fleeing from combat will give you 5 turns to flee from the mob in Explore mode. Reentering a tile next to the mob will restart combat. Run for it!
  • Fleeing reduces your chances of fleeing again from the same encounter by 20%.

Soldier

  • Best Defense now deals Physical damage and Taunts enemies at Rank 3.

Hacker

  • Hackuracy gained from System Shock now increases in duration with each rank.
  • Fixed Snowcrash Confusion bypassing resistance checks.
  • Fixed a softlock caused by Mindmelt dealing damage if Black Ice or Hacker are dead.
  • Fixed Hotlink resistance buff not showing as a buff on allies.

Smuggler

  • Fixed Fan the Hammers displaying an incorrect value when damage was boosted.
  • Explosive Trap no longer Confuses at Rank 3 but applies a stun.
  • Holo Trap no longer redirects the enemy attack but reduces accuracy by a large amount. Damage dealt by Holo Trap has increased to 50/75/100% weapon damage.
  • Rank 3 Holo Trap no longer places the Smuggler in stealth but instead reduces the accuracy of all enemies when placed.
  • Trap Card and Bag of Wonders have swapped places in the ability tree.
  • Reduced Time Unit cost of Bag of Wonders to 50% weapon speed.
  • Fixed Confusion effects from traps / devices not accounting for target CC resists.
  • Fixed several edge cases that could cause traps to softlock combat under the right conditions.

Engineer

  • Built Real Good now displays as a Syndrome effect in combat as it cannot be purged.
  • Railgun now deals Physical damage, pierces Armor, and has a larger boost to its damage and critical hit chance.
  • Overshield activation cost increased to 3 Junk.
  • Bolty’s Power Drain can no longer be used on targets with no active Shield.

Prototype

  • Reason no longer Confuses at Rank 3 but now causes damaged targets to deal 15% less damage for 2 turns.
  • Clarified ability description for Aegis Mode to indicate an enemy must damage the Prototype while it is active to trigger a bonus counterattack.
  • Abbreviated massive tooltip for Adaptive Armor and fixed incorrect display of health regenerated when taking critical damage.

Cyberninja

  • Tooltip refinement for various abilities.
  • Fixed Dodge buff from Shadow Dash displaying incorrect duration.

Void Psyker

  • Fixed Whispers bypassing resistance checks to achieve >100% success chance.
  • Gaining Void Resistance from Ascendance Rank 3 is now correctly marked as a buff.

StarCrawlers Patch Notes 6/3 - Elemental Madness

If your older saves load with the team at 0 health, visit the medbay and get patched up!

Elemental Madness has arrived.

An elemental damage system has been bubbling beneath the surface of StarCrawlers for a while and now it’s ready to burst forth in all it’s zapping, burning, melting, devouring and terrifying glory. In addition, we’ve added a Combat Log, new twists to Challenge & Hardcore difficulties, and tons of improvements to class abilities, weapons, armor, shields and accessories. Dig in!

Elemental Damage

Class abilities can now deal basic Physical damage, elemental damage (Energy, Fire, Chemical, Nanite or Void). multiple types of elemental damage, or channel the element of your equipped weapon. Most generated weapons will deal Physical damage, but rarer and high-level items can deal elemental damage. Mobs also deal elemental damage with some of their attacks and the power of elemental attacks from mob abilities grows as they level.

Elemental Resistances

Elemental damage is absorbed by Barriers and Shields as normal, but pierces Armor. The block power of Armor has been increased to serve as a superior defense against Physical attacks, and the absorption power of Shields has been slightly reduced. When facing elemental damage, you’ll want to stack resistances to reduce the incoming damage to manageable levels. Armor, shields, accessories, item upgrades and class abilities can all contribute to resistances. Similarly, mobs have natural resistances to some elements and have gained abilities to boost resistances.

Classes

There have been significant changes to the class trees to incorporate the new elemental damage system. All classes abilities that deal damage now deal either Physical, Energy, Fire, Chemical, Nanite or Void damage. Some classes will see further abilities updates and changes as we test the new system and receive feedback.

Soldier

  • Reduced max effectiveness of Meat Shield to 20% damage reduction and increased base damage slightly.
  • Defiance now reduces damage if the enemy is Taunted to attack the Soldier.
  • The cooldown on Juggernaut has been increased to 8 turns.
  • Bouncing Betty no longer drops bomblets at Rank 3 if the Soldier has been killed.
  • Rocket Strike max damage slightly reduced and no longer pierces Armor as it now deals Fire damage (which bypasses Armor).
  • Hellfire Salvo damage slightly decreased and now randomly attacks the battlefield instead of random mobs, making it more chaotic, but guaranteeing a hit if a rocket lands near a mob. This make Hellfire Salvo more effective against multiple enemies and less deadly against a single target.
  • UXO now tosses out extra Bomblets when activated, removing the requirement that Bomblets are already deployed to use it.
  • Boom King at Rank 3 now also causes targets damaged by your Bomblets to take increased damage from Fire attacks. This effect stacks.
  • Bonus damage taken by enemies hit with a Heavy Weapon in Overwatch reduced to 5/7/10%.
  • The max damage of Hotstreak has been reduced to 200% weapon damage and the Time Unit cost reduced to 25% of weapon speed.

Force Psyker

  • Mirror Prism now deals damage to all enemies when it manifests. Shatter damage dealt to the Force Psyker is converted to Energy damage.
  • Spirit Armor now provides passive elemental resistance to allies in combat and heals the Force Psyker when taking Energy damage at Rank 3.
  • Purifying Prism no longer damages the Force Psyker but instead deals damage to enemies when it absorbs a debuff or stun effect or shatters as Rank 3.
  • Barrier Prison now attempts to Stun the target each turn and deal weapon damage.
  • Spirit Link now grants resistance to all enemies when a Barrier absorbs elemental damage.
  • Fists of Fury (Rank 3) now increases Energy damage taken by the target.

Void Psyker

  • The damage of Overload has been reduced as it now deals elemental Void damage.
  • The damage on Cannibalize has been slightly reduced.
  • The damage of Shadowbolt / Voidbolt has been slightly reduced and the energy requirement to convert to Voidbolt has been reduced to 30.
  • Torrent (Rank 3) now increases Void damage taken by the target.
  • Void Storm now strikes randomly across the battlefield and deals increased damage.
  • Ascendance (Rank 3) now grants Void resistance to your allies if you Overload and makes the Void Psyker immune to damage from Overload.

Prototype

  • Reduced Time Unit cost of Thunderclap.

Engineer

  • Junker no longer Taunts but can explode to deal Chemical damage and increase damage taken from Chemical attacks.

Hacker

  • Virus: Mindmelt no longer stacks damage with each use but instead reduces the Nanite resistance of the target.
  • The explosion damage of Corruption has been reformulated to grow based on weapon damage.
  • Virus: Hotlink no longer provides Haste but instead deals damage based on your weapon element and grants team resistance to the same element.
  • Timed Release no longer regenerates shield but instead increases the duration of Optimization tree effects and grants a chance to refresh them automatically. At Rank 3, team damage grows with each turn the Hacker takes.
  • Fixed an issue with Scramble that could upset the orderly progression of the timeline.
  • Fixed an issue with Root Hack that could prevent enemies from acting on their turn.

Difficulty

  • On Standard and higher difficulties, leveling up no longer heals to full but instead maintains the current health percentage.
  • On Challenge Difficulty, characters will not heal automatically at the end of a mission but can skip a mission, visit the medbay, or use a medkit to heal.
  • On Hardcore Difficulty, characters must visit the medbay or use a medkit to heal.
  • On Challenge and higher difficulties, killed characters have a chance to incur a Grievous Wound after being revived. The severity of the wound increases with each death.
  • On Hardcore Difficulty, Grievous Wounds are permanent.

Enemies

  • Mobs now have base resistances to elemental damage that scales with their level.
  • Mob special attacks now deal elemental damage that scales with their level..

Items

  • Armor now only blocks Physical (basic) damage and its effectiveness has been increased for both mobs and players.
  • Shields and Barriers continue to absorb all types of damage and their effectiveness has been slightly reduced.
  • Weapons can be generated with a chance to deal elemental damage with their standard attack.
  • Armor and Shields can be generated with a base resistance to elemental attacks.
  • Upgrades for Weapons, Armor and Shields can improve elemental damage & resistance.
  • Siyama has begun producing weapons that deal Energy, Fire and Chemical damage.
  • Zeus has begun producing weapons that deal Nanite damage.
  • Foxkin has arrived as a manufacturer of fine weapons, armor and shields.
  • Weapons now have additional generated names.

UI

Combat Log added to combat and currently displays:
  • All damage absorbed by barriers.
  • All damage absorbed by shields.
  • Physical damage blocked by armor.
  • Health damage taken.
  • Additional information will be added in future updates and the ability to toggle visibility for different display types.

Fixes

  • Fixed Crew Status close button overlapping enemies and confusing the UI.
  • Fixed issue that could cause Battle Icons to not display health bars / numbers accurately if there was a large volume of incoming damage.
  • Fixed an issue with Soldiers Weapon Specialist that could prevent cooldown resetting on kills.
  • Fixed an issue with the mission Dumpster Diving which could halt combat.
  • Fixed an issue breaking the contact event for Chimera BioPharma Solutions.

StarCrawlers Patch Notes - 4/15/2016

Latest hotfix notes (now with Experimental Changes) can be found here!. The next story mission has arrived: Dumpster Diving! Your investigations into the rogue drones aboard the Stella Marin have led you deep within the bowels of the ghost ship. Have you discovered the source of the mystery? Or merely the beginning of some new terror…

PLEASE NOTE!

If you are still having issues with your keybindings (for example, Free Look, Flashlight, ESC menu), reset your player preferences to clear them from the registry : From the Title Screen -> Options -> Reset Preferences. Resetting your keybindings alone will not resolve these issues.

Shields

Based on feedback and discussion, we’re trying something different with shields to make them more intuitive for both choosing which to equip and understanding enemy shield strength at a glance. Previously, light shields had many charges and heavy shields had fewer, and the range of damage absorbed by shield types was quite large. Now:
  • The amount of damage absorbed by shields has been normalized and ranges reduced.
  • Light shields have 3 charges and the ability to Regenerate during combat.
  • Tactical shields have 3 to 5 charges and Empower the wearer when a charge is used.
  • Heavy shields have 5 to 8 charges and maintain their Safeguard ability.
We feel these changes make shields more intuitive at a glance, for both team and mob gear. Fewer charges = less shields and dmg reduction, more charges = more shields and dmg reduction. Let us know what you think about this change!

Weapons

  • Melee weapons have been reduced in damage to bring them more in-line with ranged weapons of similar TU cost.

Classes

  • Hacker’s Mindmelt now properly displays duration and stack damage when refreshed.
  • Duration of Prototype’s Demean taunt effect extended.
  • Smuggler’s Shoot First now applies at the start of combat, not on the Smuggler’s first turn.
  • Smuggler’s Kalmonri Trap no longer sometimes believes itself to be a mob.

Game Difficulty

  • Challenge scales Boss Fights to your level and traps deal bonus damage.
  • Hardcore scales missions and Bosses to your level and traps deal deadly damage.

UI

  • Updated Codex to reflect changes to shield type bonuses.
  • Your initial character choice is now remembered by the game as the Hero Character. For legacy saves, this will be set automatically upon saving to the character you first chose.

Environment

  • Security Doors can no longer be opened by mobs on the other side.
  • Nanite Swarms will now disperse after inflicting a set amount of damage to your party.
  • Don’t trip the traps and there won’t be no Nanite Swarms.

Fixes

  • The value of the Shionlium Lunchbox has been increased to match credits rewarded when skipping the tutorial mission.
  • Fixed unintentionally displaying mob info when clicking an item in combat inventory.
  • Fixed healthbar display for characters in combat inventory selection.
  • Fixed an issue with random map generation that could prevent mission progress.
  • Fixed an issue that would cause the healthbar on battle icons appear to drain at the start of combat, giving the illusion of taking damage.
Coming Soon…
  • Focus On: New Story Mission...
  • More friendly faction contact events.
  • More cool stuff!

StarCrawlers Patch Notes 2/5 - Happy Lunar New Year!

In prep for features in the upcoming Factions update, we’re testing out the new systems with a small Lunar New Year event. When visiting the space station, look for Rassa the Hook, a special item vendor. Rassa and his crew have been hiding Lucky Envelopes in various places, grab an envelope and you’ll find a Lunar Coin which can be traded for various festive items.

Focus on: Lab Maps, Item Enhancements and More!

Lab maps have been enhanced and improved based on feedback and suggestions and we’re excited to show a new item type: Enhancements! We’ve heard your requests for more ways to customize and tweak gear beyond the upgrade system, so Enhancements can permanently alter a weapon, armor, shield or accessory once to change its stats or add new effects.

Linux Update

We've temporarily disabled the Linux build as we investigate the crashing shader issue - latest updates can be found here.

UI

  • Fixed several alignment issues.
  • Added support for special currencies in addition to credits. Special currencies are not currently displayed outside of the merchant menu that uses them.
  • Switched on 5:4 Aspect Ratio - please note this ratio has not been fully tested for all menus.
  • When loading a game, the most recent Autosave is highlighted and placed at the top of the load menu and saves are correctly ordered according to timestamp. - thanks Jaesun!

Items

  • Add Common and Uncommon item Enhancements for weapons, armor and shields.
  • Added new items for Lunar New Year celebration.

Fixes

  • Fixed a crash when a Void Psyker with an active Void Shell triggered an Overload.
  • Fixed an issue where loot containers in bug infestation missions would sometimes be empty. - thanks Allanpike!

Coming Soon…
  • Focus On: Factions!
  • Contact factions you have discovered and have friendly chats with them over the Wire.
  • Request unique items from factions that like you.
  • Request amnesty from factions that are trying to kill you.

  • StarCrawlers Patch Notes - 12/4/2015

Happy Friday! We've uploaded a bug fix patch based on issues reported by players that also includes new controls to adjust different graphics settings, improvements to escort missions, and a few more items. Have a great weekend!

    UI

    • The Graphics menu now provides additional options to optimize various settings.
    • Enable UI Scaling added to graphics menu. Toggling this on will allow the UI to scale up or down to the resolution you are playing at. Recommended for Big Picture players!
    • Crawlers now have access to a flashlight using the F hotkey.
    • The UI should now scale better for extremely high-res monitors / Steam Big Picture play.
    • Improved objective & exit text for Escort, Objective, Retrieve mission types.
    • Discovered objective markers now remain visible on the map until completed.

    Audio

    • Additional sounds have been added for Void Psyker, Soldier and Hacker abilities.

    Missions

    • It is no longer possible to reroll random missions by save / loading.
    • Quest items no longer have crazy credit values.
    • Intentionally failing and selling quest items is no longer possible.
    • Escort NPCs have improved abilities and are now considered part of your team temporarily. They can be inspected in the loadout screen, given chems and medkits, and will take damage from traps. They’ve also finally figured out how to make use of their weapons to help out in fights. And get themselves killed.

    Changes

    • In preparation for upcoming changes to the faction system, Aurora and Horizon no longer offer missions or can be the target of missions.
    • New Crawlers start with 100 credits. Spend ‘em wisely.
    • The price of recruiting new Crawlers no longer scales with the number you have already recruited but is instead 100 credits + 50 per level of the recruit.
    • The cost to revive a mostly-dead Crawler is now 10% of your total credits. If you can’t afford the minimum fee, Lukas Filch will provide the service free of charge...

    Class Changes

Force Psykers and Void Psykers are dealing impressive but slightly too much damage in comparison to other classes. We’ll be making further adjustments to all classes abilities over time.
    • Force Psykers no longer start every battle with full energy but instead regenerate 5 Force Energy with every step outside of combat. In-combat regen remains unchanged.
    • Damage of Force Psyker’s Aegis Strike reduced to 50/75/100% weapon damage and damage increased per bounce reduced to 5/7/10%.
    • Damage of Void Psyker’s Shadowcoil reduced to 20/25/30% weapon damage per attack.
    • The damage bonus from the passive ability Ascendance for having Void Energy over 100 is now applied correctly and at the end of the Void Pskyer’s turn.
    • Cosmic Horror no longer applies a damage amplification effect to victims but instead summons additional tentacles.

    Fixes

    • Fixed an issue where an unlocked Prototype could wander into a new game.
    • Fixed an issue with Autosave not appearing in the Load Game menu.
    • Fixed an issue with Smuggler’s Fan the Hammers effect not being displayed as a buff.
    • Fixed an issue with mouse Y invert not being applied correctly if changed while on a mission.
    • Fixed an issue with laser tripbeams not being clickable in some security side-rooms
    • Fixed issues with secret rooms sometimes making nearby floor tiles inaccessible
    • Black Ice is now properly described as a Hacker construct
    • Reporting a blackmail attempt with a Smuggler no longer causes an error if the attempt fails
    • Fixed an issue where Mites and some Worm variants received double their intended bonus for damage. Little critters were biting pretty hard.
    • Fixed an issue with the camera effect for gas traps sometimes persisting after leaving the gas trap room while gas was still draining.
    • Gas traps can no longer lock the room they are triggered in.
    • Fixed several instances of black / white walls appearing erroneously. This bug should no longer occur on any map - thanks to everyone who sent it screenshots of this one!
