- Increased overall performance by 15+ FPS

- 3D skybox is now rendered after main scene which allows to skip obscured pixels, this gives perfomance boost on maps with detailed skyboxes
- 3Dd skybox now renders correctly when camera is partially inside water if r_3dsky_draw_last enabled
- Added support for r_3dsky_draw_last in scope rt camera and water reflection so they render faster now
- Disabled CSM lookup in 3D skybox which leads to small perf. boost as well
- Fixed mistake due to which zfar and znear values for SSAO were still calculated incorrectly
- Fixed issue when postprocess effects which use refract were not rendered in full screen while Dynamic resolution scale is on
- Activated half resolution particle rendering feature (r_particles_lowres), enabled by default

- Fixed inconsistency between sound lookup table and sound cache when both host_threaded_sound and snd_stream are enabled which caused sound buzzling or playing sound with random parameters
This change replaces change from previous update where amount of processed queued sounds were limited per frame
- Queued sounds do not re-create their data every frame while thread is waiting for them to be loaded. This should speed up their loading times a little bit
- If engine requested a volume change for sound which is still loading then it will start playing with correct volume already when loaded.

[SRCDS Linux]

- Fixed bug when messages in console were doubled

Sinking of the USNS Card

In the early hours of May 2, 1964, while operating as an aircraft ferry, the USNS Card fell victim to a covert attack in the Harbor of Saigon, South Vietnam. Two Viet Cong commandos from the 65th Special Operations Group emerged from a sewer tunnel near the ship's anchorage. Under the cover of darkness, they planted two explosive devices on the ship's hull, successfully detonating them and causing the Card to sink. Despite the significant damage, the ship was refloated 17 days later and underwent extensive repairs before returning to service.

NLF Outpost Remastered

There's a new map, 'Cao Lanh Rice Fields,' coming soon. The 'NLF Outpost' always had rice fields and a beautiful skybox, but most of it was lost due to too much foliage coverage. So, in anticipation of the upcoming rice fields map release, the NLF Outpost has received a facelift.

We've also relocated the two outside flag conquest points to enhance gameplay

The Stoner 63A

The Stoner 63A, designed by Eugene Stoner in the 1960s, is a modular firearm that can be set up as a rifle, carbine, light machine gun, or mounted weapon. It saw limited use in the Vietnam War but wasn't widely adopted due to its complexity and cost.

French Language Support

We added French language support, to provide a bit more context, some history of French involvement into the Vietnam War...

France had significant involvement in the First Indochina War (19461954), which later contributed to the broader Vietnam War. After World War II, the French sought to reassert control over their former colony of Indochina, leading to conflict with the Viet Minh, a nationalist and communist-led movement.

The First Indochina War escalated, with France receiving support from the United States. However, the French faced challenges, and in 1954, the decisive Battle of Dien Bien Phu ended in a victory for the Viet Minh. This led to the 1954 Geneva Accords, which temporarily divided Vietnam at the 17th parallel, with the North under communist control and the South under a non-communist government.

While the direct French involvement ended, the United States took up a more prominent role in supporting the anti-communist government in South Vietnam. The subsequent Vietnam War unfolded between the communist North and the anti-communist South, lasting until the fall of Saigon in 1975.

- If player who is not a radioman still manages to pickup binoculars, he will not be able to call airstrike, but can still use binoculars as binoculars

Steam Achievements

There are more than 150 achievements connected to the Vietnam War, some are easy, and some are challenging to accomplish.

Reworked Player Models

New characters received a complete makeover with detailed faces and equipment. Customize everything from facial hair to unit badges and gloves. Use it across all classes, even in deathmatch-style game modes where equipment adapts based on your choices.

Advanced Statistics

We already introduced personal statistics and will also offer weapon statistics. You will also be able to track your progress for achievements, ribbons, and ranks.

Ingame Economy

Ribbons earned will convert into ingame credits, with harder to achieve ribbons holding more value. The majority of cosmetics, some special weapons and very unique weapon skins will be locked behind this in-game economy, meaning you'll need to use your credits to obtain them.

The new maximum rank will be at 27, players will have the option to reset their rank to earn a ribbon.

Hardcore Mode

The game will get even more challenging. Some HUD elements will be turned off, and the damage you take will be more severe.

Coop

Challenge your friends in player battles or face off against enemies in standard game modes. Plus, get ready for an upcoming co-op campaign!

Collectibles

Collect Zippos from the Vietnam War, available in bronze, silver, and gold with unique engravings. Steal your enemies zippos with a special stabbing animation (as seen in Battlefield).

Additional Factions

Introducing three new playable factions: the Army of the Republic of Vietnam (ARVN), the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC), and the People's Army of Vietnam (PAVN).

- Reworked player statistics to utilize one united statistics system, ribbons which are tied to statistics are now handled by statistics system
- End of match best players and MVP are now calculated by statistics system as well
- Statistics is now updated on client during whole match but data gets sent to Steam S\servers only at level change/disconnect
- If player lost connection to server then his stats will remain in memory of Steam Client and most likely will be taken in account next time stats get sent to Steam
- End of match/personal statisitcs should work as before, but there may some oddities appear, because statistics code was basically rewritten
- Reset your stats (cc_user_reset_stats) to catch or get rid of them

Christmas in Vietnam

You have been good soldiers! Therefore, we gift you with this wonderful update.

Today, one of two new maps will be released: the "Can Tho Slums" for Conquest. The second map, "Vong Canh Hill," will be released tomorrow.

Also, there are plenty of new guns for you to play with. Our personal favorite is the "Baby Browning" pistol; it has no weight, but you need a couple of rounds to finish off your enemy.

As we promised in our previous outreach, we have already started to update some of the old maps. The "3rd Field Hospital" has shrunk in size and received a facelift. The doctors at the hospital reexamined the bots and gave them more intelligence.

And much more, ho ho ho!

- Fixed animation glitch issue with dual weapons which could arise on servers with high ping when shooting too fast.
This change affects other weapons as well especially flamethrowers
- Fixed issue with dual weapons when wrong animation could play or effects are dispatched from wrong weapon

- Fixed bug where NAV generate command was not working
- Fixed stamina mechanics sometimes resetting
- Fixed precision error in player offset which could cause state mismatch between server and client in rare cases, which may result in animation glitches or prediction system errors
- Fixed bug when bot would not spawn if it was moved to other team in order to give player a free slot
- Fixed bug when bots keep spawning back after they were voted to be removed if sv_hibernate_zombie_mode is enabled
- Fixed bug in gun game when a weapon level could be skipped if player kills enemy team's leader
- Added sv_hibernate_zombie_bot_count which will keep N bots playing on server unless players occupy their slots or manually add/remove bots (either using vote menu or console)

- Average-typed player statistics (accuracy, kd ratio, score-per-minute) are now updated within 24hours of ingame-time window
- Fixed bug when post-effects such as ssao, volumetric fog and dof were rendered twice when player is partially under water

One Year in Country

Military Conflict: Vietnam has seen significant progress in this period, though there are still ongoing efforts to address and improve various aspects of the game.

During this timeframe, we've overhauled elements such as weapons, player models, and maps for better consistency and historical accuracy.

The game has been released in its alpha state, and it's expected to remain in this early stage for the time being.

Thanks to our strong community and players, we now have a clear understanding of the direction Military Conflict: Vietnam will take. Your input has been invaluable in shaping the game's future.

Our focus moving forward is on reinforcing the core strengths of the game.

We aim to enhance both existing and upcoming maps to align with this vision. Specifically, we will concentrate on refining Deathmatch, Gun Game, Capture the Flag, and Conquest as our core game modes.

Demolition will be temporarily removed from the game due to the need for specific maps. Instead, we plan to introduce the Push game mode from Insurgency in the near future. Which will also introduce the Coop experience. When discussing maps, numerous new ones are in the pipeline, and there are plans to revamp older ones.

New voiceovers are needed to immerse players even more in the game and the deadly combat of the Vietnam War.

Addressing player retention challenges, we're implementing measures to keep both new and existing players engaged. A key addition is a progression system, allowing players to unlock weapons and cosmetics. This gives more significance to earned ribbons and ranks.

For a fresh and unique experience, we're introducing a new customization system, ensuring every player stands out. You'll be able to see and customize your player model in the main menu, and use it across any class or game mode. These changes aim to enhance player interest and make each gaming experience more personalized.

As more features release we will also introduce achievements and daily challenges that can earn specific items such as historically accurate skins.

Christmas is around the corner, and so is a significant update for Military Conflict: Vietnam, bringing new maps, weapons, along with numerous fixes and improvements.

Update Notes 11th of January

[Client]

- Fixed bullet casings floating on fences/ladders
- Total score for player is now taken from steam leaderboards instead of rank file
- Fixed favorite servers were appearing back after removing

[Game]

- Fixed wrong weapon bodygroups appeared on viewmodels for a split second when deploying
- Fixed deploy animation could play for holstering weapon while switching weapons on servers with high ping
- Fixed holster animation didnt play sometimes
- Fixed revolver fire modes were breaking on pickup after player changed fire mode on primary weapon
- Added trigger_spawnroom entity to define spawn rooms for a team

Servers going back online, crash issue was fixed.

The server crash has been fixed and we also updated NavMeshes ( for bot navigation ) for certain maps.

Please restart your Steam client for the changes to take action. All officials servers are being updated!

Sorry everyone, after latest update we are experiencing server crashes after a couple of minutes of playing.

Currently we do not have any data on why it happens and therefore need some time. We will fix this issue within the next 8 hours. Meanwhile we took all of our servers offline until further notice.

- Added new sway system for weapons
- Fixed loosing all experience warning appeared when player is in intermission
- Gas mask is no longer auto switched to after throwing grenades/running out of ammo
- Infinite reserve ammo is now enabled in Gun Game. Reloading is still necessary
- Removed Kar98k from Gun Game rotation, and added scoped variant of CAR15 and StG-44 into rotation
- Fixed rocket launchers not being removed in Gun Game after advancing weapons
- Fixed health regenerating while burning

[Server]

- If voters are less than 5 then everyone have to vote in order it to pass
- Restrictions are reverted at the beginning of next match

[Client]

- Fixed selecting different team multiple times in loadout selection didnt update player model
- Rank data is now sent to Steam Leaderboards

Update Notes 17th December

An update to Military Conflict: Vietnam has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Military Conflict: Vietnam. The major changes include:

[Game]

- Added linux version
- Gunner and Medic classes are now unrestricted
- Auto-balancing now happens every minute after someone join or left the team
- Changed default vote percentage to 60
- Fixed missing language strings in vote menu
- Added ability to change map to vote menu

[Server]

- Added linux server

[Client]

- Fixed issues when people who installed workshop addons with VPKs in them could not join any server
- Workshop menu fixes - item will be autodeleted if uploading gets stuck at some point
- Fixed community made maps were not visible in play menu
- Fixed fullscreen-related options were remained inactive in fullscreen mode

[Misc]

- Removed left over icon from vote menu and scoreboard
- Added fps limiter to video settings menu (vietnam_english.txt was updated)
- Made sure that bot voting always enabled
- Adjusted hud score counters to prevent clipping inside flag icons

Military Conflict: Vietnam Update Released

An update to Military Conflict: Vietnam has been released. The update will be applied automatically when you restart Military Conflict: Vietnam. The major changes include:

[Game]


  • Removed player limit on Assault class
  • Fixed maps that don't support certain gamemodes appearing in the end of match voting screen
  • Fixed being able to join servers with full player slots
  • Fixed server crash when player slots were full
  • Fixed doors going sentient when set on fire


[Server]


  • Fixed some vote options could not be activated
  • 75% of people needs to vote to succeed instead of 100%
  • Fixed bug when wrong map was selected in end of match screen when someone voted for - Random, but did not win the vote
  • Fixed issue in conquest when tickets could drain shortly after warmup end


[Client]


  • Fixed incorrect playercount sorting in server browser
  • Possibly fixed issue when opening scoreboard crashes the game
  • Disabled texture streaming by default until the crashes on certain GPUs are resolved
  • Fixed map-placed ammoboxes/healthboxes showing a marker on the HUD
  • Fixed Quit button on end of match screen quitting the game instead of disconnecting
