Greetings voyagers!
One of your most common requests has concerned the addition of Imperius ships. This update (v1.078) includes exactly that: 10 Imperius ship variants! A few of these can drop right from the start of the game, but most are unlocked at around level 20.
The added Imperius ships concern the following classes:
Scout (1)
Frigate (1)
Light cruiser (1)
Heavy cruiser (1)
Battle cruiser (1)
Battleship (1)
Dreadnought (3)
Apart from the new ships, this update also includes two balance adjustments:
On-board ship turrets now disregard weapon warmup time. Among other things, this should fix the issue of "warm-up turrets" not being able to perform well against hordes of low-hull enemies.
The range of the "Frost Touch" weapon has been increased by 50%.
Keep the requests coming! While I do not have the time to answer each request, I do read them all.
Thanks for reading & playing the game!

Version 1.068 [Dungeons] Most dungeons are now less "windy". In particular, there are (much) fewer dead ends. [Bug fix] Fixed an issue that caused CPU usage to spike when pausing an offline game (a missing thread sleep, for those who are interested in details).
It's now been half a year since Nienix reached 1.0! To celebrate, today's patch (1.050) includes a completely new game mode called Fleet Commander. Apart from this game mode, a whole bunch of other content has been added during the past three months (the time since the last major news update). This post highlights significant changes. As always, follow the patch notes for the complete list.
It's now been three months since Nienix reached 1.0!
I am so happy to see so many people playing and enjoying the game! The months past the release (especially the first week) have been intense, but reading your feedback and watching you play really makes it all worth the effort.
Nienix has finally reached 1.0! I had originally planned for 8-12 months of early access, but it ended up lasting ~14 months. This was the case as I got so many great ideas from you guys that the originally intended features were flexed quite a bit. I am very happy it did, and very grateful for all your help - Nienix 1.0 would have been way less fun without it! Brief summary of the year in EA:
Merry Christmas! Today's patch brings a plethora of new features to the main branch:
It's now been eight months since Early Access started! The major news is that Act 4 almost is completed! A closed alpha that includes both Act 4 and Continuum XL difficulty will begin in about a week and run for a month. If you wish to participate in the alpha, let me know on Discord! Apart from working on Act 4, tons of new features have been added during the three months since the last major news update. Most of these changes were made based on player feedback on Steam and Discord. Please let me know if there is anything that you would like to see changed! It has a good chance to make it into the game.
It's now been five months since Early Access started! Most work during the past two months has concerned Act 4, but a fair few changes have been made to the public build as well. As always: For a complete list of changes, join Discord or look at the news section in Steam. Thanks for supporting the development of Nienix!

It's now been two months since Early Access started! This second month has brought a plethora of new features, polish and balancing. As for the previous recaps, most of these features are based on community suggestions. Please provide suggestions on the Steam forum or Discord if there is something you would like to see in Nienix!

Version 0.55509154 [Event] A new station event has been added to Act 3. This event takes place in a giant station that can be traversed even with the largest ships. The warp gates in these also work for the largest ships. [Bug] A soft lock has been fixed for two bosses in Act 3 (doors that prevented access to the bosses if the player died during the skirmish). [Bug] Fixed a performance issue related to some lights not being correctly unloaded. [Bug] Fixed a performance issue (a memory leak that occurred when playing multiplayer) for the map. [Bug] Beam-weapons now behave as expected with the 360-mod. [Balancing] Beam-weapons that can repair hull can no longer repair the hull of self. [UI] Made the UI more responsive. [UI] Revised a few texts.
Version 0.55509152 [Bug] Fixed a soft lock related to event enemies not spawning in the area after the tutorial. [Misc] The front/scout camera tracks more smoothly when the zoom is high. This is especially noticeable at the start of the game. [UI] The character selection screen has received minor changes. [Balancing] The Vagrantis skill "Blazing Rockets" now applies to any weapon, and not just fire-based weapons. [Balancing] The Imperius skill "Warped Strike" now applies to any weapon, and not just cold-based weapons.
It's now been one week since Early Access started! A big thanks to everyone who has played so far, you rock! And a special thanks to those that have given their feedback! Several great new features have already been added based on the feedback from the community - many more will be added in the coming weeks!
This update address a crash bug that has been observed for a few players.
Today is the day!
I am extremely proud and excited to share Nienix with all of you!
I would like to thank everyone who participated in the closed beta. Your feedback has been priceless! This is the main reason why I chose Early Access - I want to make this game as good as can be!
The current state of the game could very well have been a "final" product. The fastest completion time of the campaign among the ~100 beta testers is 12 hours. And completing the campaign is not the end! By doing so, the Continuum Mode is unlocked. Beta testers that continued to explore end-game content in Continuum typically spent hundreds of hours developing a single character!
That said, Nienix is far from feature complete! The overall roadmap looks as given below.
Will definitely happen:
[olist]
Nienix has been in development for 7(!) long years, and we finally feel that it is ready for the public! Early Access will begin Jan 28, 2022! Make sure to wishlist and tell your friends!
To celebrate being part of DreamHack Beyond, online PvP modes have been temporarily enabled in the Nienix Demo! Make sure to try them while they are available!
The arena mode enables creative experiments with defeated foes in a "god-simulator" style. It is available for both the demo and the closed beta and supports both single player and multi player.
The demo and beta tester build have been updated! This update contains a range of new features:
