Greetings Pilots, The servers in the European region are currently not working for Heliborne: Enhanced Edition (it works for Oldborne). This is due to server maintenance that is currently underway. We are in touch with our partners to minimize the effects on you, and we are working hard to ensure that the maintenance is completed as quickly as possible. We are unable to provide an estimate of how long the maintenance will last, but rest assured that we are doing everything we can to manage it as quickly and efficiently as possible. Attention Pilots! Recently there have been problems with logging into Heliborne occurring. The issue is that whenever a player tries to launch the online game, the message: "Steam Authentication failed" pops up. We are aware of that issue, so we immediately took steps and made contact with Steam - it seems, however, there are some difficulties - the connection with Steam tends to fail from time to time; as we wait for their reply, we are investigating possible error sources. One of the concepts is that it could be connected with an authentication certificate or software/OS update. We are contacting Photon regarding the issue. Intensive work on reinstatement of playing is currently undergoing. Thank you for reporting the occurring issues. We also want to mention again that the error has anything to do with shutting down servers. For further information, please refer to our Community Manager, Markus, a.k.a. Chairborne, we will post the status here and on discord or as soon as we remove the malfunction.
Hello Heliborne Community, It came to our attention that recently, there were comments from some Heliborne community members that we will close the servers. In short, there is no such plan, nor is there such need. Therefore, we are not going to shut down the service. Consequently, you do not need to worry about your game being discontinued. As mentioned in earlier messages, we will reveal further development plans for the franchise as soon as we gather the necessary resources. We've been reading your reports on the connectivity issues plaguing your playthroughs recently on PS4 and Xbox - weve identified the possible key culprits behind these problems and we are currently investigating how to take care of these ASAP.
To share some light on the source of the problem, it seems there are differences in the Photon service between PC and consoles, one of them causing a randomized problem affecting connection time outs and eventual disconnections from server.
We are diligently working to fix the above on our end and we are in direct contact with the Photon support team. We aim to resolve these issues by the end of April. In the meantime, thanks a lot for your patience and understanding. Safe travels! Klabater Team

Hello Heliborne Community,
My name is Markus, and some of you may know me under my in-game nickname Chairborne. Being 45 years old, I am rather old for a gamer, or it only seems like that to me. Ever since the first 8-bit home computers came out in the mid-1980s, I enjoyed computer gaming, primarily military and simulation software. My professional background as a retired soldier and paramedic/firefighter has given me some inside look into the world of helicopters. So it is no wonder that once I came across Heliborne, back then still in early access, I immediately got hooked on the game. It is safe to say that with almost 2000 hours spent in-game, I am one of the more consistent fans of that wonderful piece of a game. Never before have I stuck to one simulation for so long. Now I have gotten the opportunity to do my tiny bit to help improve Heliborne and become a link between the developers and the community. There have been difficulties in the past and sometimes hard feelings, primarily due to misunderstandings as I see it. Believe me, monetary goals are not my motivation for getting engaged in this adventure. Instead, I want to make the gaming experience for all of us top-notch and serve as a connector for developers and gamers.
Moving forward, I will be managing the Steam forum and Discord channels, both Heliborne and Heliborne: Enhanced Edition, and doing my best to activate and connect you so that you get more chances to play in PvP or multiplayer. I will gladly listen to your feedback and ideas while we play together, so just let me know if you are ready on the #looking-to-play Discord channel:

As promised in our latest update, we are constantly working on new patches. This time we released a portion of fixes to Heliborne Enhanced Edition and a minor update to Heliborne. Stay tuned for other patches in the future.

Heliborne patch 0.98.8a update:
- Helicopter names are now the same in both versions.
- Changed how skins are implemented to make sure that everyone receives them all.
- Fixed an issue that could prevent the player from joining a PvE game.
- Fixed helmet skin display.
- Fixed folding chassis animation for prototype helicopters.
- Adjusted helicopters glossiness.
COMMUNITY REPRESENTATIVE WANTED
There have been ups and downs throughout the over 4 years old development history. Heliborne quickly found its core audience, and the community has always appreciated the game. We moved Heliborne to a new engine and decided to bring it to console gamers. At the same time, we continued to improve the PC versions. We care a lot for the Heliborne IP, and therefore, we need more help for the recent and upcoming changes and challenges we are facing. Mindoug, the previous Community Manager and former JetCat Games member, will remain active on the Heliborne server with the original Heliborne versions fans. However, we want to expand the team with another community role, who will manage both the PC community and the new console gamers joining soon.
We need:
- Xbox and PC gamer - with fluency in English, - appreciating and knowing well the Heliborne IP, - with the community and management skills to process the feedback to developers; - on top of all the above, the eagerness to stream would be an advantage. NEW GAME LAUNCHER
In todays patch, we introduced a new launcher. From now on, you can choose what Heliborne edition to play without switching between the branches. This will make the Heliborne game structure more transparent for the new customers, and we hope not much more complex for existing ones.
NEW STEAM PRODUCT NAME
We implemented a new naming system - the main game on STEAM is now called Heliborne Collection. It includes Heliborne and Heliborne Enhanced Edition. Both editions contain all the DLCs published so far, and all the future content will be mirrored for both. Worry not; each Heliborne version will be actively updated - today, you get the patch for Heliborne, and the Heliborne Enhanced Edition patch will follow soon. There will be a need to download both games, so expect a 13-16 GB of download (depending on the OS) with this update. Sorry for the inconvenience.

New patch arrives in Heliborne:
- Fixed missing objectives on Tonkin map.
- Added new standard camos (14 new skins).
- Fixed the loading screen, causing the game to hard lock.
- Removed placeholder "campaign settings" button.
- Fixed Nguyen map - mission 3 now loads in the correct order.
- Updated copyrighted helicopter names with community suggestions.

New discord server (servers structure) - a community update. We have set up a new separate Discord server for Heliborne Enhanced Edition users to split the communities and avoid misunderstandings. DEVELOPMENT BRIEF STATUS
Consoles and PC development: We will keep improving Heliborne Enhanced Edition - next patch ETA end of March 2021, and keep fixing ongoing issues/bugs in Heliborne - patch today. Please use the current Discord channel actively to inform us about contemporary matters. We also submitted Heliborne Enhanced Edition for console certification to Microsoft and expect the game to be commercially available still in Q12021. Fixed: Airfield shield now correctly protects against bullets. Added missing texture to Soviet flag on Kosovo. Squad builder limit can no longer be exceeded. Fixed models and animations for flags on Binomo. Fixed flare color on Nguyen. Fixed flag shaders on Nguyen night. Added a missing texture for a flag on Nguyen. Fixed wrong mission numbering in the Nguyen campaign. Fixed SAM exploding with water. Fixed helicopters having unnatural smoke dispersion during an explosion. Greetings pilots! To begin with, we apologize for missing the expected release date of the PC update and would like to thank you for your patience. It required more work than we estimated, but in the end it lead to several positive events. First, we decided to further expand the team with a new Senior Unity Developer who will now help to speed up the progress with Heliborne franchise. Second, part of the team has been assigned to development of the Xbox build and now it is finished! We have started to test it internally and will share the results soon. We haven't been releasing updates for a while, so let us tell you about what is happening with Heliborne development right now.
The team is currently working on fixes of the Enhanced Edition. We are planning to release the next update in mid-October. Although it should fix most of the known issues, we still want to take some time and hear your feedback before we would upload the Enhanced Edition back to the main branch.
As of today, most of the visual issues are fixed. Right now, our priority is the UI. You gave us a lot of feedback in that regard, so we have completely rebuilt all the main screens, including squadron builder and battle rooms. Here are a few examples of how the squadron builder will look like:

Meanwhile, part of the team is working on the Xbox One version. We already have a stable version with good performance and full gamepad compatibility. This week we will focus on the network. We aim to finish all the critical parts and features of the Xbox build by the end of October and then proceed with testing.

Hello pilots! Here is a short update on what happened on Sunday. As we have found out, there was an attempt to damage our server provider's network structure. Unfortunately, Heliborne database was affected. We have managed to restore most of it, but part of the data from October 1st to October 4th has been lost. We have also migrated to a different provider and taken measures to eliminate the risk of such incidents in future. Still, some players have lost part of their progress. To reduce the impact on your game progress we will send all the players 2000 of progression points. Team Klabater

Big things awaiting on the horizon! HELIBORNE will soon officially become HELIBORNE: ENHANCED EDITION. Todays update is fully dedicated to explaining to you guys what this change brings and, oh, it brings a lot of goodness!
Starting from AUGUST 20 you will see our Steam Card fully updated. From this moment there will be only one edition of the game called Enhanced Edition. This edition will not only contain the base game but also all the DLCs that were released until now (over a dozen!) in the price of the regular game. There will be no other editions on Steam. We want everybody to experience the game in its entirety.
IMPORTANT: As we promised to our community earlier, all who have bought the game prior to this change, will get the FREE UPDATE TO ENHANCED EDITION! So, even if you own just the basic version of the game with no DLCs installed, you will still get access to both the Enhanced Edition of the game and ALL DLCs released until now! Enjoy!

Greetings pilots! Let's cover a bit more the updated sounds in Heliborne: Enhanced Edition. We've put a lot into more up-to-date and realistic graphics. And we want in-game sounds to conform. When we talk about immersion, it is important what you see in front of you, but it is even more important is what you hear. The final goal is to make sounds support all the rest elements of the game in the right way and give you the ambiance that correlates to your expectations. That's how we described the sound task for ourselves.
What has been done already
We have made quite a lot of new sound effects from scratch. Those are sounds of helicopters (engines and rotors), a variety of weapons, effects of explosions. Basically, what we consider as the primary and most important sound effects in Heliborne. You will be able to hear them in the game quite soon. The next thing is the soundtrack. Although we like the original Heliborne soundtrack, we thought we could make it even better if we added distinctive and memorable compositions. And since we've added more night maps, they also needed a proper soundtrack. Here are two examples:

What is planned for later
Some of the less critical sounds remain unchangedfor example, sounds of ground vehicles that you can only hear when you fly close to them. However, we do plan to update them too as soon as we have an opportunity.
What is not planned
One of the questions bothering our voice actors was whether we are going to change the original community-made voice over. The answer is "No": we appreciate the community's input into the Heliborne development a lot and don't want the game to lose its charm.

Greetings pilots! More than a week has passed since we've started the closed beta test of Heliborne: Enhanced Edition. Let's begin with some hard facts:
- 115 bugs have been reported during the test, as of today.
- 61 of the bugs reported are visual (which is the main focus of current testing).
- 1/4 of the issues have already been fixed in 2 updates following the initial beta version.
- 45 players have participated in the test.

Today's Dev Diary episode is about updated visuals too. We've shown you a bit how the maps have been changed, with new textures and lighting. There is another pretty significant thing, not only visually, but also gameplay-wise.
While working on the lighting, we have added more night maps. From now on, the modern helicopters won't be the only ones you could hide in the shadows. Actually, every map we currently have in Heliborne will be available in a night version.
Do you have any suggestions on how to utilize the darkness? We would be happy to hear out your ideas!
Last but not least, here's a sneak peek of another upcoming helicopter. This is a new scout/attack bird from Sikorsky powered with the same engine as Black Hawk S-97 Raider. It was designed to replace Kiowa and made its first flight in 2015.
We are still deciding on how the prototype models shall be integrated into the current list of helicopters. One of ideas is to make prototypes a choosable option when creating a battle. Again, feel free to share your opinion!

Finally, we have a lot to tell you in this dev diary post. The most important thing is that we have already finished the most challenging and time-consuming works, and transfer to the new version of Unity is almost completed. There are still a few things to do, but we expect to begin internal testing pretty soon.
One of the most noticeable changes that Enhanced Edition will bring is updated visuals. Since Heliborne was released in 2017 (and spent several more years in EA before that), we wanted to freshen it up with a more up-to-date look.
The first thing to doupdate the environment. You might remember early screenshots from when we've been working on new terrain shader. A lot has been improved since then. Terrain shader and textures have been updated with new ones. We have also remastered original foliage and environment textures so they would better work with physically based rendering. On top of that, we've added post-processing to improve visual experience and give a unique atmosphere to every map.
It took quite a lot of time and nerves, but the result was worth it:
The next step was to make better-looking objects and update them in line with terrain and flora. So we've created new, more realistic shaders for helicopters and ground objects.
All that work not only makes Heliborne look better, but also lets us continue with console ports. And this is how all that looks in action:

And now, the main thing! Update on Heliborne: Enhanced Edition works and development!
1. Improved multiplayer engine and a matchmaking system
In our survey form, in which we asked you to let us know about the most anticipated changes and improvements, many among you mentioned multiplayer engine update in the first place. We decided to focus on this feature Whats more, we decided to add matchmaking to make PvP even more competitive. In our plans there is also a new rank system, but we will confirm it in more details later.
2. Moved the game to a newer version of the engine (new Unity)
Upgrade for new Unity engine is mostly required to port the game for consoles. Thats the main advantage of this point development-wise, but lets not forget that the game obviously looks much better already thanks to this change.
3. A new UI project has been created - we are currently implementing it
Some of you reported that UI is good enough, but many stressed the fact that we should modernize it a bit as it is already visually outdated. Sooo We made it more clear readable. You will be able to see the results of our work on our Facebook and VK pages this Saturday on #ScreenshotSaturday!
4. Optimization of existing maps, change of lighting system and post-processes - ongoing
Heliborne has never been a challenging game for your PCs, but we received reports, that in some areas your FPS drops. Thats why we decided to check all maps and polish them. On some, we changed the lighting system. With those changes and new UI Enhanced Edition will look gorgeous!

7.Will devs/employees be on the game regularly (playing/streaming)?
The dev team consists of 7 devs and it will be supported by 5 publishing/marketing person strong team. We will actively participate in community not only by developing the game, providing you news, but also by playing and interacting with you.
8.Non-war ideas will be a possibility? Like SAR in Coop?
Yes, indeed. SAR, mountain rescue etc. are on the way too! :)
9.Can we expect small details such as animated landing gear?
It's not on priority list, but on "Nice to have" list.
10.How are you planning to monetise the game in future?
We will stay Premium + Paid DLCs
11.What should we expect from the definitive edition?
We are now working on first mock-ups of Definitive Edition. You can expect more efficient matchmaking, new UI and a lot of new content (new historicial single player missions, new multiplayer game modes, more events, rankings, new helis, badges etc.). We have already started talks with helicopters producers to accquire the rights to the new helis & stuff!
12.Will there be a story mode of some kind/single player mode/Campain mode?
Story mode/historical missions is one of the key things we want to add in DE, we will see how many and what kind of missions will be avaialable. There will be a lot new content coming this lane.
13.Not sure if this been asked yet, but can we have more realistic sounds for guns? Because a 20mm rotary cannon sounds like a 30mm autocannon for some reason
Yes. SFX and music is on the list of things to be improved/redesigned in DE.
14.Have you confirmed yet if we're going to lose our progress or keep it moving onto the future?
It is inevitable - yet it is to early to elaborate on details.
15.Can we expect AI enemy helis?
AI is a complex issue. To early to say. Currently we work ground units AI augmentation.
16.Are you planning to change the way Helicopter loadouts work?nExample: Selecting Missles and guns.
We want to redesign loadout system totally. We know it is important. We still need to make some research and consult community.
17.Will there be submarine hunting missions with sonar dipping?
TBD. We want to add marine warfare specific maps - submarine hunting is one of the options we currently research.
18.Will we have cross play with consoles and pc?
Console crossplay is on the way. PC vs consoles, not.
19.Do you guys have a rough estimate of when new content will start being released? Like how long do you expect to settle into the game and start working on new features?
In Q1 we want to make the opening ballance, by March provide you with a Road Map and in Q2 deploy first new things.
20.Games are mostly PVE right now, can we expect some changes so PVP is more viable/rewarding to entice more people to play PVP?
Most likely. New, dynamic, matchmaking, additional servers, redesigned ranking system, new badges and rewards and seasonal events.
21.Will certain transport helis be able to carry light vehicles/ artillery?
We plan to add tow rope mechanics
22.Will you fix the network problem?
Yes. That's a priority - new servers, new regions
23.How many hours of heliborne has the dev team on the clock?
Some team members are with Heliborne since 2016, one team member is actually a real-time pilot.
24.Helibrone was made with a lot of historical accuracy in mind. Which directions are your visions?
We want to be historicaly accurate in single/Coop missions part. In multiplayer we will focus on more arcade approach.
25.Will you keep the strict divide between Russian and American helos (ties into the historical accuracy question)?
We will keep current trees system and perhaps we will augment it with european trier - TBC.
26.Also how do you vision future updates more arcade or more direction simulations or trying to hold the current sim arcade balance?
Both - arcade in new multiplayer modes, ranking, badges. Pro-simulations in historical single player/coop missions.
27.How knowledgable are you about military aviation and helicopters and will you try to keep the game as authentic as possible?
We will use JCG gathered materials and also we work with avionation experts - Polish millitary.

38.Regarding the roadmap for this year: in the upcoming months you will be releasing constant updates for the original Heliborne, is that correct? and the DE will contain all those new features from the updates + more? Or do we have to wait for the DE to get all the new features you are planning?
We will rather work on DE that will include all the changes that we described above, but it doesn't mean we will not be patching the current version.
DE will be an UPDATE downloadable for FREE for all the veterans (who own the orginal game).
39.Will custom games still be an option?
Yes, we plan to leave it in game.
40.How will the translating continue?
TBA. First, we would like to polish current translations. After that, we will be looking for new translations.

Today we are happy to introduce you a PvE objectives update for three game maps: Night Kosovo, Sahara, and Binomo Islands. They feature two completely new large-scale PvE missions, Amphibious Landing and Tank Attack, as well as several other improvements to the cooperative game mode.

- Night Kosovo PvE mode has been reworked now it's Counter-insurgency. Players need to contain enemy attacks and provide logistical support to allies on the ground.

Good news from Heliborne hangar: it got 4 new helicopters. Two of them are Chinese attack helicopter Z-10 and Chinese attack reconnaissance Z-19 available for the Soviet-Russian side. The NATO side has received two European birds: German scout Bo 105 and Italian attack reconnaissance A129 Mangusta.
And now you also have several additional options to test them. We've added single and cooperative PvE to the biggest Heliborne maps Khost and Binomo Islands, both over 70 sq. km! Together with PvE functionality they have got exclusive PvE game mode Counter-Insurgency. You need to defeat or contain enemy insurgency, find and destroy enemy staging grounds, protect and provide logistical support to existing positions. Apart from that, the Binomo map will receive several more thematic PvE objectives with a separate mini-patch by the end of the week.
All of that will be even more lively than before thanks to new background radio chatter which will accompany your and your team's activity.
And we also have a special treat for Spanish-speaking pilots. From now on Heliborne is fully available in Spanish language! Send all your love to our Mexican player RaulValenzuela who's done all of that work alone.

Greetings, pilots! We've been working on the update 0.97 for some time, and now we are happy to unveil our new map — North Africa, Sahara. This desert map is designed for II generation helicopter squads and is available both in PvP and PvE modes.
Operation Fznamznon map has also been improved. We've added several ships which guard carriers from enemy helicopters and basically defend your spawn point. Nguyen Hue has received new visual effect and improved PvE mode.
Heliborne 0.97 full changelog:
- New map - North Africa, Sahara for 2nd generation, both PvP and PvE versions.
- Additions to Fznamznon map - several ships will guard each spawn and landing ship location. Be aware, those ships are armed with heavy missiles.
- Visual changes on operation Nguyen map - new rice fields, camera settings, rice field water splash effect.
- Additions to PvE on operation Nguyen map - new unit locations and also experiment with boats on the water.
- On both of 2nd generation maps tanks will now shoot at nearby helicopters with their main gun. Don't hover close to them.
- Fixed some UI problems and improved some effects (40mm and 57mm AA gun effect)
- Added "additional timer" option to PvE setup. This option will allow you to make either extend or reduce default objective timer.
- Timer for rescue objectives now will be tied not only to difficulty setting, but also to size of the map. Allowing for more time to pick up soldiers.
- Soldiers intended for rescuee now will be grouped closer. Soldier callback/pick up range is extended. And from now on soldiers will try not to climb up the electric poles. Fixed problem with rescuee soldiers not willing to take empty seats in some cases.
- Recon soldiers requesting evacuation under fire will now mark their position with purple smoke.
- Some of the PvE objectives now will specify grid coordinates of the objective.
- Fixes to training map - armor values of training targets are updated. Some changes in target visual effects.
- Heavy machinegun fire adjusted. Each bullet will deal less damage, but machinegun itself will fire for a longer period of time.
- ATGM missiles should stop "crashing" enemy helicopters in some cases and will count as a regular kill.
- Visual fixes for several helicopters.
Heliborne Flight School
Apart from that, we would like to announce Heliborne Flight School. The School will be made in a form of regular online battles, mostly PvP. Cadets will be split into 2 teams, and each of the teams will be led by one of our top players. Teams will be able to chat in a special private voice channel in our Discord. Great news for Co-op players: we have added several new types of Co-op objectives and improved Co-op overall. We've also made scout helicopters more valuable, but a bit shortened their markable area range. More Co-op updates will follow soon!
Changelog:
- Difficulty settings for Co-op now affect accuracy and target contact range both for AA guns and vehicles.
- Health of AA guns on III and IV generation maps has been increased.
- New Co-op objectives have been added: insert operation under fire, reconnaissance group evacuation from ambush, medevac, and reconnaissance operation.
- Appearance logic of several objectives has been changed: less objectives deep behind enemy lines, less objectives which lead to spawn of enemies in close vicinity to player's helicopter, etc.
- 50-seconds enemy spawn delay has been added to "engage enemy convoy" objective.
- Time limits for objectives on easy and medium difficulty levels have been slightly increased. Several new options for number of simultaneous objectives have been added.
- Chance of positive event after successfully carried out objective has been slightly decreased on all difficulty levels.
- Air-to-air and Manpad missiles have received guaranteed damage depending on their power. Overall, air-to-air missiles became more effective, but will not inflict more damage than before.
- MANPAD's missile smoke trail is now starting higher from the ground.
- Shooting accuracy and range of RPG soldiers have been slightly increased.
- Also, group of RPG soldiers now communicate with each other and does not make double shot in the same target.
- Fixed RPG grenade bug which incorrectly lowered its damage.
- RPG grenade rules for damaging helicopters have been changed: now it inflicts guaranteed damage.
- Enemy RPG and MANPADS in Co-op now have unlimited number of shots.
- Targets marked by scout helicopters now have additional "request for attack" icon above them.
- Markable area range for scout helicopters has been decreased from 100 to 70 meters. As a result, markable area size has been decreased around two times, but it's still enough to cover any landing zone.
- Target auto-lockon for cannons has been improved. It's now being activated much more often. Hence "mark target" button for scouts has been moved from B to E by default, while manual lockon has been moved from E to B.
- Improvements of Chinese localization (thanks to Danyu-Tom, Pvt.Petrenko, and Chinese players group).

Hello everyone! We have several great new for you. First of all, Heliborne has received a new map — Binomo Islands, Operation Fznamznon.

The Map
Operation Fznamznon is IV generation hypothetical scenario with an amphibious assault on an island located in South China Sea. It introduces a lot of brand new gameplay features. 60 percent of its 69 square kilometers are occupied by an island, the other part is sea.
The map is based on Frontline game mode with several significant changes. The biggest one is that instead of ground bases players start battle on heavy aircraft carriers. Those are USS Wasp (LHD-1) on US side and heavy aircraft-carrying missile cruiser Novorossiysk on Soviet side. They need to support an assault on the island, providing cover to the amphibious troops on their way to the shore and after that support the Marines while they are advancing through the island.
The map’s fleet also include dock landing ships (Ivan Rogov and USS Rushmore (LSD-47)), which deploy light armored vehicles and cover them until they reach the ground, and hovercrafts (Zubr and LCAC-1), which transport ground vehicles to the island.
Currently, Operation Fznamznon is available in PvP only, but we are going to add it to Co-op later. We are currently looking into possible scenarios to expand sea operations related gameplay in the future. Today we are also happy to greet our new Chinese pilots on-board and present official Chinese localization for Heliborne! 欢迎您! To commemorate this significant step in the game's development we've prepared a special in-game event — Dragon's Awakening. The event will last for 10 days during which everyone will be able to unlock unique helicopter camouflages and helmet patches.
The Manuscript
To all pilots, Heliborne HQ has received an ancient Chinese manuscript from secret sources. Our translators and decoders have been working for months until they have finally discover its content. The manuscript is based on The Art of War by Sun Tzu and reveals how to become an invincible warrior. With the help of Chinese masters we've been able to adapt this knowledge to helicopter warfare.
The Objectives
Pilots, during the next 10 days, until June 24th 23:55 GMT, you'll have several temporary achievements available. Those are Tiger, Fox, Horse, and Dragon medals. Each of them has several objectives which have to be fulfilled during one battle. Dragon medal can be received only by those who already have Tiger, Fox, and Horse medals! 1. Tiger medal In one battle, complete 2 of 3 objectives: - Destroy 25 ground vehicles - Shot down 5 helicopters - Destroy 10 AA positions 2. Fox medal In one battle, complete 2 of 3 objectives: - Scout 35 targets - 15 spotted targets destroyed by your teammates - Destroy 20 special soldiers 3. Horse medal In one battle, complete 2 of 3 objectives: - Capture 5 Landing Zones - Show down 2 helicopters with MANPADs - 10 targets destroyed by your mortars 4. Dragon medal After Tiger, Fox, and Horse medals are received: - Destroy 30 ground targets with door gunners - Get ATGM-sniper 1st class ribbon (destroy 8 enemy vehicles with 8 ATGMs in a row)
The Awards
Every medal will unlock a unique helicopter camouflage after the event is finished. Good luck, pilots!

Heliborne 0.96.1 changelog:
- Armoring on vehicles has been unified on all maps. Overall, some vehicles became a little bit more armored, without significant changes.
- Adjusted weapons of light vehicles on 3/4 generation maps. Vehicles will shoot for longer time, but each round will be less lethal.
- Bonus to spotting range in ATGM mode, far turret zoom and artillery aim now is given only to scout helicopters.
- Fixed UI for "8 ATGM kill-streak condition". Condition itself is reworked and should work without problems.
- Fixed UI for several medals.
- Added secondary cargo spawn location on new map.
- Fixed turrets of LSD-47 on new map.
- Fixed various bugs in achievements, game results, visual effects.

We have very good news: a long-awaited lobby system has finally been added to Heliborne!
Now you can create a lobby to gather more players before starting a battle. You can both wait until other players join or invite your Steam and Discord friends.
You had a great battle with an unknown pilot and would like to play together in future? We made it much easier to socialize with others: now each battle ends with a post-battle lobby where you'll be able to talk to other pilots and send them friend invitations.
Take a look at the full patch notes to learn more details about the Update 0.95:
- This update adds "lobbies" or "pre-game rooms". How they work - now when you creating a multiplayer game (be it Coop or PvP) - you can choose an option to Gather Players and create pre-game room. People will be able to join that pregame room and a battle will be started when you (host) will decide to do so. We hope to utilize this new feature a lot more in upcoming PvE overhaul and additional PvP gameplay modes.
- While in a pre-game room you will have access to pre-game chat, where you can talk with other players.
- Also while you are in a pre-game room, you will be able to send join invites through Steam and Discord to your friends.
- We've integrated Steam Rich Presence - you will be able to send invites to both in-game and off-game friends. And you will be able to join games of your friends from the Steam interface (Join game buttons in friend list and profile list). This depends on privacy settings of your Steam profile.
- We also integrated Discord Rich Presence - you will be able to invite your friends to both pre-game and on-going matches. Also, information about details of what you are playing will be displayed in your Discord profile. This integration also depends on your Discord privacy settings.
- Steam friend list menu is added to the game. Through it, you can message your Steam friends, find their current battle or invite them to a pre-game room you are currently in.
- Now after all multiplayer games participant list will be displayed in a post-game menu. You will be able to check other player's in-game profile (helmet, rank, and medals) and send them friend invites.
- Also, a post-game chat will be displayed after all multiplayer games.
- Planet Plyuk map is now hidden from both PvP and PvE. We'll do something with it in future, meanwhile, a new game map is in its finishing stages and should arrive to the game soon.
- Meanwhile, we've added Kosovo Night map to the list of Coop-playable maps.
- Achievement for mortar support (Love-tube) was fixed.
- Maximum team difference rules where changed. For teams of size 3 or less maximum team difference is now 1, for size of 4 and more — 2, like before.
- Password protection menu changed — now it is one password for the battle itself, not per-team.
- Coop settings menu changed — it looks differently and now allows for more option combinations.
- Increased rocket, missile, and personnel reload speed. Rocket refill speed now different for small caliber and large caliber rockets.

First, it's a special day for transport helicopters — they are finally able to do sling loading! We've added two initial types of cargo — ammo crates and repair kit. Expect more in upcoming updates.
Second, we've finally introduced Steam Achievements. There are 50 of them at the moment. More are coming. Start earning them, you'll need them soon!
Third, you may now choose a size of a room, from 3x3 to 8x8 (depending on a map).
Also, good news for owners of Logitech controllers: we've recently introduced native support for Logitech 3D Pro, X52 HOTAS, X52 Pro HOTAS, and X56 HOTAS.

- Sling Loading. The first two cargo types — ammo and repair kit crates. Transport helicopters can pick them up at bases and move anywhere on a map to create a reload/repair point for other helicopters.
- Steam Achievements. The first 50 achievements have been added. More will be added in future.
- Automatic Pre-Battle Slot Reservation System has been introduced. This will prevent simultaneous connection of several players for the same side and thus will help balance battles.
- Correlation between vehicle armour and explosion damage has been updated. Medium and heavy armoured vehicles now receive less damage from fragments. It also depends on an armour of an affected part of a vehicle.
- Online Single-player Mode. Those who want to play solo and earn progression points may now play this new game mode instead of password protected multiplayer battle. However, we recommend to play Heliborne with other players — this is what it has been designed for.
- Flight model has been updated. Now high speed during dipping down may be achieved only together with Collective Increase (Space button). Altitude gaining rules have been updated as well.
- Repair time and experience bonuses for outnumbered teams (1+ players) have been added to PvP modes.
- Room size settings have been added to PvP: a host can limit number of players for a battle.
- The last used camouflage (including Hangar) will be remembered and automatically applied when you add a helicopter to a squad.
- AA sight on a one Mi-28N modification has been fixed.
- Mortars info has been added to the after-battle report.
- Net code fixes.
- Hidden fixes for the next upcoming updates.

Pilots, Heliborne 0.89 is the last update of the year. What a year it's been though, a year we can’t thank you enough for. Today's update, however, is a bit smaller than we planned as we've run into some technical issues with some of the planned features we were going to put in this update and have decided to delay their inclusion in the game until a later update coming in the new year. We apologize for this, but we'd rather get a working feature to you than a buggy and broken one. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Heliborne 0.89 changelog:
- 2 New Helicopters have been added to the game, the Ansat and the CH-46.
- Festive camos have been added for the Mi-8T, Mi-24V, UH-1D and AH-1S. These camos are temporary and have been added for holiday period only.
- Added camera sway from wind when a helicopter is hovering. This can be disabled via the Settings menu.
- Added a camera shake when colliding with the ground or receiving a large amount of damage.
- Changed the logic behind helicopter module damage. Now, after a module has taken critical damage, any additional damage is applied to the helicopters main hull until it is destroyed.
- Changed turret angles for most helicopters with turrets. The angles have been changed according to real values, this results in a 20-30% increase overall on turret angles.
- Changed vehicle targeting calculations. Ground vehicles will shoot more often and in more situations.
- Repair times now account for spent ammunition when changing a helicopter at the main base.
- RPG Soldier reload speed when shooting at ground targets is now 11 seconds, down from 19.
- Fixed IRCM reload error when landed at a base.
- Fixed aiming angle for air-to-air missiles on some helicopters.

Greetings, pilots! The content update with sling load mechanics is getting ready, and this patch brings some preparations for it. Changelog 0.87.8:
- Ground AA fire accuracy increased for when target is in sight for a long time - about 20% increase comparing to what it was before
- Some models and textures fixed (for example Mi-28 rotor)
- PvE can now be won by capturing enemy stronghold only if there is "Until victory" condition.
- Hard and very hard difficulty levels of coop now should be a bit harder (more enemies and they appear more often)
- Minimum repair time for helicopter is 15 seconds
- ATGMs on speed now have smaller angle of freedom before aim starts to wiggle

Hello Pilots! Update 0.87.7 is live! This is the third post-release Heliborne update. Its cornerstone is a big change to simple control scheme which allows players to turn without losing air speed. We believe that all pilots will benefit from it, especially new ones. This update mostly fixes and adjustments of various gameplay issues. Upcoming updates will introduce sling-loading and extensions to coop gameplay.
Version 0.87.7 changelog:
- Changes to simple controls - now when you try to turn without additionally pressing A/D - you'll have slow steady turn without losing a lot of air speed, if you additionally press A/D - you'll have the same turning speed as before
- Changes to a number of helicopters and their flight parameters
- A lot of transport helicopters from gen 2 to gen 4 health values were improved
- Prices for transport loadouts of some helicopters from gen 3 and gen 4 were lowered
- Several helicopters received changes to their respawn time after death (mostly faster respawn for less armed loadouts)
- Treacherous map borders on Tonkin map are extended
- Air-to-air Stinger and Igla missiles got their damage slightly reduced (by 10% or so), they should not be one hit - one kill missiles for most of the modern attack helicopters. R-60 and AIM-9 received no changes.
- Heat seeker missiles no longer have lock speed bonus for next missile on the same target
- Heat seeker missiles turning speed after successful flares is lower - its easier to avoid them by maneuvering after long-range flaring
- Heat seeker missiles locking cone is smaller on distance now - you need to actually keep your aim on target for some time
- MANPADS missile turning speed is a bit better
- MANPADS squadron price is 12 now
- MANPADS will now shoot no more than 2 missiles per 10 seconds on 1 helicopter from 1 location (70m radius)
- Most of modern ATGMs max speed is lowered by 20-30%
- Now ATGM aim will work without wiggling in flight if you are aiming at something directly along your helicopter's current course
- TRS-132 and M-8 rocket damage increased by 30%

Hey Pilots! One week has passed since Heliborne has been officially released. And it’s been a really good time for the game: a lot of players having fun 24/7, dozens of new Heliborne streamers on Twitch and YouTube, media coverage worldwide. This is so great and exciting, especially for such a small team and project as ours! Even more exciting is how fast our community is growing. You guys are awesome! It’s a pleasure to see how active and dedicated you are. We’ve received tons of good ideas and advice how to make Heliborne great again. Will be done! Heliborne community has also started to work on Heliborne wiki — feel free to use and expand it, any help is highly appreciated! Meanwhile, Team JetCat has been working hard all the week to deliver you the first post-release update. In this update we have addressed the most pressing issues and also added new features:
- first batch of netcode improvements to provide better network synchronization;
- updated mechanics for AA missiles and flares;
- several new types of door gunners;
- mortar teams will now give a reward to players who deploy them.
Update 0.87 changelog:
- An interval between in-game background music tracks has been shortened.
- New RPG/SMAW smoke trails.
- The 'death cam' will show enemy helicopter more accurately.
- First stage of Steam friends integration. Battles with your friends in them are now the highest ones in the battle list, your friends' names are green in-game now, also now you can check steam profiles of players from your last battle in Steam - View - Players.
- Filters of a battle list will be active in-between the battles, battles are now showing sides correctly.
- Cabin gunner in Mi-8MTV and Mi-8TV has been relegated to door gunners.
- New door gunners: AGS-17 (grenade launcher) and NSV Utes (12,7mm) for Mi-8MTV, NSV Utes for Ka-27, paired M-60 for UH-1D.
- Door gunners with M60 have been added to UH-1B.
- Flares, if they blind a missile, will deflect a missile way farther (50 meters instead of 10) in direction of deployed flares.
- Slight change to Flare chance to blind missiles on long distances
- Air-to-air missile (R-60&AIM-9) mechanics have been changed: flare will be able to blind a missile only from medium range (about 500 meters), they won't misguide missiles from long range. AA missile itself, when blinded from long range (more than 400 meters), will not go off the course but will significantly lose maneuverability (4 times). It allows pilots to dodge a missile with active maneuver. When blinded from less than 400 meters, a missile will follow flares as before.
- AA missiles (R60&AIM-9) now have bigger range and can be guided with maximum zoom.
- Double spotting reward bug is fixed.
- New ATGM launch sound
- New helicopter crash sound
- 1 second delay between ATGM launches
- 3rd and 4th gen ATGM maneuverability after 2 sec of flight is reduced
- Marker appearance mechanics are changed: markers will appear on a visibility range, hovering helis will be more visible now.
- Infantry resupply mechanics are now changed: soldier will be occupying all free seats (they didn't use seats of deployed special troops before), double limit for special troops is removed.
- MANPADs on 1st&2nd gens now have less fatal and slower missile. 3rd&4th gens are unchanged
- Explosion calculations for AA and MANPAD missiles has been changed: max damage is the same, but will be decreasing to the border of explosion less than before.
- Now successful mortars strikes will give an award to the transport heli pilot who deployed them. Reward for destroying enemy mortars and special badge for destroying mortars in one battle. Fixed bug with some Throttle devices in advanced control. Now collective won't jump to 0 when throttle is moved into minimum position.
- Various small bugfixing
- First batch of netcode improvements, should be less network synchronization issues.
- ATGM netcode fixes, which should reduce the number of false hits.
- EU-2 and US CENTRAL servers have been removed from servers list. Two others that has been left, more powerful ones, are located at the same data-centers.

First of all, we want to thank everyone who supported us along the way. We have managed to build a small, but very close and active community. You guys helped us with a lot of things which would be impossible without you, including almost all the localizations and voice acting for the historical campaigns. As for the tiny team of four, it’s vitally important to have those who will give you a hand when needed. And you even did not ask for anything in return. THANK YOU! YOU ARE AWESOME, AND WE LOVE ALL OF YOU! As we announced before, we have a special gift for everyone who bought the game in Early Access. And we wanted it to be so special that we haven’t finished it yet, being insanely busy with the release version of the game itself. However, we believe it’s worth waiting. So thanks again, guys, this time for your patience!
Next, let’s talk about the game.
Heliborne has been in the Early Access for a year and a half, since February 2016. Here’s a short list (ok, not so short) of what has been done:
- 20 new helicopters. Now Heliborne features 50 different birds, our plan is to significantly expand the hangar after the release.
- 3 new maps: Kosovo (25 sq. km), Khost Region (64 sq. km), and a huge and detailed training polygon where you can test helicopters before battles (you will be able to do more there, but let it be our small secret for now). Current map roster includes 6 maps — 5 combat maps and the polygon.
- Night map. The first one with lights off is Kosovo. More on the way.
- Squadron system. It’s been designed to add more tactics to battles. Very similar to a deck system in card collectible games.
- Progression system and Research tree. We designed this research system to be a learning experience, not a grinding one, and plan to keep it this way.
- Frontline PvP mode. More tactical evolution of Domination mode with plenty of ground vehicles.
- PvE sandbox co-op mode. Also playable in solo.
- Two historical campaigns: Easter Offensive in Vietnam (1972) and Operation Magistral in Afghanistan (1987–1988). Co-op play is planned for the post-release period.
- Offline mode. For those who can’t or don’t want to play online. Unlocked squadron builder is coming soon.
- Customization and cosmetic items. Dozens of helicopter camouflages, helmet paint schemes, and helmet patches.
- Private profiles.
- Rank & Awards system.
- Modular damage system.
- Detailed tactical map.
- Improved flight model.
- Advanced control scheme.
- Gamepads/Joysticks/HOTAS support.
- New types of deployable special soldiers: SMAW/RPG and mortars.
- Soundtrack.
- Steam Trading Cards together with badges, profile backgrounds, and emoticons.
- New localizations.
- A long list of less visible changes we don’t want you to bore with.
For those who would like to additionally support further Heliborne development, we’ve added several cosmetic DLC packs with thematic camouflages (4-7 in each). However, it’s totally up to you: players can still unlock plenty of other additional camouflages free of charge, and we’ll be adding more of them!
The most important question is “What’s next.” Although the full release is an important milestone for the Team, we are too ambitious to finish the development at this point. We have plenty of ideas, and the release will hopefully give us necessary resources to implement them. With that number of pilots playing Heliborne lately, it’s rather a plan than a hope. We want to give you some details about what to expect in upcoming updates:

Greetings Pilots! Heliborne is getting closer to the release, the Date will be announced very soon. Almost everything that we’ve promised to add during the Early Access stage has been implemented already. Just a few things will be left after the update 0.73, like a single player campaign, soundtrack and updated sounds, several new helicopters, and some other changes.
The Update 0.73 introduces a new game element, a very important one — Progression System. From now on most of the helicopters will be locked at the beginning. You’ll need to play and earn progression points to unlock helicopters and new modification.
We’ve been testing the progression system a lot to be both challenging and fun. Although you don’t have everything on a plate from the very start, you should be able to unlock something new literally after every battle. We really hope it will bring more players to battles and make you Heliborne experience more satisfying.

Many players asked whether it is possible to play Heliborne without an internet connection. Now it is — the update 0.73 features the Offline Mode! Single player campaign, when released, will be available in Offline Mode as well.
Apart from that, we’ve introduced first 24 camouflages (more will be added on release), kill assist, new hangar music (thanks to NicerDicer!), in-lobby battle timer, bonuses for finishing battles, and more.

Greetings pilots! Update 0.61 is now live. This is a big one weighing in at about 500 MB. Apart from what you will read in patch notes, we've prepared the ground for upcoming updates with even more significant changes. So, what do we have in 0.61, you would ask?
A lot. First of all, we have improved helicopter flight models and have adjusted them to behave more realistically. Overall, the helicopters have become more unique and different from one another.
Another feature that you’ve all been waiting for is the modular damage system. Helicopters now have five critical modules which have various effects on the flight model when destroyed. For example, when the tail boom is critically damaged, the helicopter will spin out of control temporarily. Gradual damage to a module will not have any effect on performance, only critical damage.
We've also added a tactical map to the TAB menu. This map is much more detailed than mini-map and provides an assortment of information about soldiers, ground vehicles, helicopters (with corresponding player names), and topography. We hope it will give you more opportunities to cooperate with your team.

- Helicopters now have a modular structure for 5 critical modules: main rotor, engine, tail boom, fuel, and hydraulics. Some helicopters have duplicate modules (e.g. 2 engines or 2 fuel tanks). A helicopter is destroyed when it loses one of the modules or its structural integrity is compromised.
- When a module receives critical damage, it stops functioning properly and alters helicopter performance in a manner unique to the damaged module.
- A list of the aircraft modules and their statuses are now indicated on a damage panel under the mini-map.
- Maximum helicopter repair time (when repaired at base) has been decreased to 30 seconds. This is far less than the repair time after death, which makes returning to base more worthwhile than before.
Flight model
- Helicopter flight models have been improved.
- Ground effect has been implemented into the flight model. Ground effect in the game is the tendency to gain altitude faster when your helicopter is close to the ground (up to helicopter's blade diameter), upon exiting ground effect, you lose this boost in ascension speed.
- Pitching the nose down in conjunction with losing altitude will now cause notable increase in speed.
- Pitching the nose up when flying at decent horizontal speed will now significantly increase altitude but decrease speed.
- There have been changes in the flight characteristics of all helicopters. The cruising speed of all helicopters has been slightly decreased to bring it closer to real values while max speed has been increased. Heavy helicopters are now less agile while light helicopters are more agile. Overall, helicopters are more unique and different than before.
Other changes
- Helicopter collision logic has been improved. There will now be fewer fatal collisions, but more collisions will damage the helicopter over time.
- The landing collision logic has been improved. Landing should be both simpler and easier, but you will now receive damage from rough landings.
- The squad-building mechanic has been improved. Now every squad has a fixed generation and receives a maximum number of points for its particular generation.
- Helicopter loadout mechanics have been improved. Flares (if possible) and door gunners type (if there are several) can now be selected independently from loadout modifications. The UI has changed correspondingly.
- The maximum squad cost for Generation III has been increased from 400 to 480 points.
- Costs for all helicopters have been corrected.
- Mi-2: first and second armament options have been swapped.
- There is now a tactical map in the TAB menu.
- There have been changes to mini-map GUI.
- The radio menu no longer blocks controls.
- Soldiers now stop in front of fatal obstructions.
- Helicopter class and loadout modification parameters have been added to the GUI.
- Helicopter spawn orientation (South-North direction) has been fixed and now depends on the team's position on the map.
- Heat-seeking missiles have received a wider lock-on radius.
- Heat-seeking missiles now lock-on faster to hovering targets.
- The accuracy of stationary AA guns has been decreased.
- MANPADs won't launch a missile on short distance when the missile will most likely overshoot helicopter.
- The after-death falling algorithm (after-explosion trajectory) has been changed.
- Ground vehicles will now always aim for the center of mass of enemy vehicles.
- There have been minor visual changes to various helicopters (prior to introduction of customization).
- There have been various minor changes to game maps (a result of working on historical campaigns).
- There have been several important bug fixes (doubled points for spotting, wrong penalty for specific cases of friendly fire, etc.).

We could have tried to record everything by ourselves. But since Heliborne has an awesome community of talented people around it, we decided to address to you, pilots. Meet the "Good Morning, Vietnam!" event!

One part of the upcoming single-player is a Vietnam historical campaign with roughly 300 radio messages. We need to voice-over them and are looking for people willing to do it.

Greetings, Pilots! First things first: we are working on several major updates at the moment. These are mostly new game mechanics for single player and cooperative missions (more activity for soldiers and more interaction with them), new mechanics for interaction with artillery and aviation, changes in squadron building system, a detailed tactical map, and many more. Greetings pilots! Today's just a small patch with a few fixes and small updates.
Heliborne 2017: Recap post, if you did not read it
Changes:
- Fixed several bugs related to the objective and Victory screens in coop play. (thanks for your reports)
- Fixed a bug with camera turning upside down in some cases. (thanks for your reports)
- Several small changes in certain enemy positions in Nguyen and Badahshan single/coop missions.
- The Door gunner description in the armament section now shows the weapon they are using.
- Door gunners will now identify and aim at AA positions from a farther distance away from the target. This targeting and engagement distance is farther than the normal targeting and engagement distance for soldiers.
- Manpad soldiers no longer have a ~1.5 second period of ignoring flares after acquiring a target.
- 5 favorite awards now can be shown in profile (previously it was up to 4)
- Password-protected coop games now award points and cosmetic items.
- Added ground frag messages in password-protected games.
- Showing HUD picture in first person view is now an option you can enable in Settings - General
- New settings for camera tilt in third person view in Settings - General
Hey, Pilots! It's time for another update — 0.52. But we also want to use your attention to summarize what we did in the latest updates and what we are going to include in the release version of Heliborne. Let's roll!
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE LATEST UPDATES
Singleplayer/Cooperative mode
Several sandbox-missions with procedurally generated tasks. This mode is available for 1–4 players (max number of players will be increased) on Operation “Nguyen Hue”, Kosovo, The Gulf of Tonkin, and Badakhshan Province game scenarios (the list will be expanded).
Rank & Awards System
We’ve implemented to Heliborne private players profiles and rank & awards system. Every effective action in battle lead to progression within rank ladder. Combat merits are awarded with medals and ribbons. Selected awards may be put to the profile, its public part is visible to other players. This is the first big step towards progression system and rating system with leaderboards.
Cosmetic items
Helmets and patches. They are shown in player profiles and act as avatars. Helmets and patches can randomly drop after the battle, or for participating at in-game events.
Firing range map
Highly and precisely detailed map of real military aviation polygon — 344th Tactical Deployment Center in Torzhok. It was modelled according to satellite data, photos and videos. You can start practice flight straight from the hangar or squadrons menu. Hangar is a part of polygon map, so the flight would start almost immediately and from the same location. Training mission is in the development, and would take place on the same map. We would continue improving the map, adding more training possibilities and even special game mode.
Apart from that we added:
- New helicopters, including MD-500, Ka-226, HH-53.
- Gamepad/joystick/HOTAS support. Popular devices received ready-to-go control configurations, but you can connect literally any device (up to 4 simultaneously).
- Advanced control scheme. For those who want to receive highest possible control under helicopter.
- Steam Trading Cards. Six cards featuring legendary helicopters.
- Badges, profile backgrounds, emoticons. Collect trading cards, create badges and get Heliborne emoticons together with backgrounds to customize your Steam profile.
- New localizations. Currently Heliborne supports English, Russian, German, French, Polish, Portuguese-Brazil, and Danish languages.
PLANS FOR RELEASE
Part of them will be implemented within Early Access, the other part — in release version of the game.
Historical campaigns
Release version of the game will include two singleplayer historical campaigns: Easter Offensive in Vietnam (1972) and Operation Magistral in Afghanistan (1987–1988). They will feature some unique in-game mechanics we’ve prepared especially for them.
Career with tech tree
Heliborne is going to get progression system with tech tree, divided by different helicopter producers. Players would need to unlock new helicopters using Experience Points earned in battles. Main goal is to gradually introduce player to the game and its mechanics and to motivate players to give different helicopters a try. But do not worry — progression will be pretty fast and definitely not grind F2P style shaped. ATTENTION! When progression system is introduced, players will be rewarded with certain amount of Experience Points. This amount depends on a rank: the higher you have, the more points you will receive.
Further improvements of Singleplayer/Cooperative mode
We actively work to improve the sandbox mode. As it advances, new types of objectives (e.g. medevac missions), new types of enemies, ability to choose intensity of a battle, and even sandbox-campaigns will be implemented. Moreover, singleplayer missions will be playable in Offline Mode, without network connection!
Heliborne will also feature:
- Experimental Night Mode. Night version of one of the maps is almost ready!
- Multiplayer mode improvements.
- Flight model improvements.
- Modular damage system.
- New helicopters.
- Detailed tactical map.
- Transport of external load and fast-roping for soldiers.
- Steam Workshop support. Selected user-created content will be added to the game if approved by Team JetCat.
- Tutorials. Gameplay tutorial missions on the Firing range map.
- In-game VoIP-chat (based on Discord SDK).
- Unique gifts to everyone who has supported us during Early Access!
HELIBORNE 0.52 CHANGELOG:
- 2 new sandbox missions on maps of generation 1 and generation 3.
- Several new types of sandbox objectives.
- Several logic and positioning improvements for sandbox missions.
- 2 new types of enemy infantry for sandbox missions have been added.
- The UH-60L helicopter has been split into 2 separate helicopter models - MH-60L and UH-60A. The first model, the MH-60L, is an armed version with 4 armament variants without troop-carrying capability. This moel starts with the DAP model, which is a previously non-existent version, followed by 3 AH-60L variants we already had. This model has been given forward facing miniguns for all armament options. The second model is a pure transport UH-60A with 3 door gunner armament options.
- Mi-8MTV has been given an additional door gunner in the back part of the cargo hold. New first armament option is now armed only with 2 rocket launchers and cockpit gun. Third armament option has two automatic grenade launchers instead of 2 rocket pods.
- Both of the grenade launchers, 30mm one for RU side and 40mm one for US side have been changed: ammo flight trajectory is now shallower and the weapon is easier to aim and operate.
- UH-1Y has been given an additional armament option with 2 rocket pods on each side.
- MH-60S now has addtional forward pointing miniguns for all armament options. There is also an additional armament option with 2 rocket pods on each side.
- Added a door gunner on the Mi-8T.
- Mi-8AMTSH has been given an additional rear door gunner. And two new armament options - first with only 2 gunpods and fourth heavily armed option. Also AMTSH gunner from 2nd to 4th armament options are 12.7mm machinegunners now.
- Squadron prices for all helicopters mentioned above rescaled, some changes to other helicopter prices.
- Heat seeker missile locking time parameters and locking sector parameters have been rescaled a bit, it should take less time to aquire a lock for both smaller and larger missiles.
- Fixed a bug with the frontline game mode where you could not win despite your armor capturing enemy stronghold.
- Fixed a bug in the advanced control scheme related to inability to use mouse to look around.
- Added setting to change mouse role in advanced control scheme.
- Added a setting to enable/disable helicopter names near helicopter type icons in combat HUD.
- Several helicopter texture fixes have been applied.

- Several logic problems and bugs have been fixed in single player and coop sandbox missions. The hold LZ and stop attack mission will fail if you lose LZ to enemy control before timer expires. The support convoy mission is failed as soon as you lose all vehicles you were supposed to support. The stop convoy mission is failed if the convoy reaches its destination. We are continuing to work on new tasks, new scenarios and missions and more maps.
- AH-64A, Mi-28, Mi-28N all have been given 1 additional armament option. We are working on several new armament options for different helicopters, these options will be rolled out over the coming weeks.
- A lot of price changes for helicopters in Generation 1. These changes probably will not affect your Generation 1 squadrons, but could very much affect your mixed Gen1-2 squadrons
- There have been slight price changes for several helicopters, (mainly those armament options which were just added)notable changes: AH-1G 2nd and 3rd armament price has been raised slightly. The Mi-8T-TV price for 3 and 4th armament has been slightly lowered.
- Slight polishing of flight parameters for several helicopters - most notable is HH-53 which will not be as fast as before, (still will be pretty fast, but on par with other transports), HH-53 flight acceleration is more reliant on controlling nose pitch.
- Falanga ATGM rotation amplitude and frequency decreased to make it more useful and accurate.
- TOW-2 ATGM added for AH-1S 2nd and 3rd armaments (AH-1F version) and MD-500
- We’ve made several price changes to helicopters in generation 1. This change will most likely not affect the setup of most gen 1 squadrons, but may affect mixed gen 1 and 2 squadrons.

We've got news pilots! Not only are we pushing out a new patch for Heliborne that is adding new features to SP/COOP, fixes and updates, we're also joining in the steam summer sale fun! What does this mean? Well, put simply, it means that Heliborne will be 35% off during the sale!
Heliborne Version 0.51 Patch Notes
- Singleplayer sandbox difficulty settings have been updated slightly. A new “Very Hard” mode has been added.
- Sandbox settings - amount of concurrent objectives can be set, from 1 up to 6.
- Sandbox settings - amount of total objectives to win can be set, from 5 till full battle win.
- Sandbox settings - hardcore mode has been added. In this mode there are much fewer visual assists and aides. You are unable to see where enemy units are or where your troops are. Several HUD components are reduced or disabled outright.
- Sandbox missions have had several improvements in task logic, we will continue to work on more types of tasks and sandbox scenarios and will be adding them in next several weeks.
- Sandbox enemy infantry is updated.
- Sandbox task UI improved.
- 5 new language translations have been added - polish, german, french, portuguese (fully translated, not like before) and danish (will be updated)
- ACH-47 door gunners all have .50 cals now.
- HH-53 landing triggers slightly adjusted to further prevent crash on landing.

Pilots! It's finally here! The ability for you to play Heliborne in Single-Player and CO-OP in pure PVE has finally arrived! It's taken us a long time to get here and for that, we're sorry, but we think this first step in to SP/COOP is a good one and we hope you agree.
We've also added the ability to test and fly any helicopter in the game from the squadron tab or the hangar tab. This will take you to the new training map that will allow you the chance to experiment with all of our helos before heading in to MP-PVP.

- Two new singleplayer/cooperative sandbox missions have been added. Right now both of these missions are based on the frontline scenario and have up to 9 different types of tasks that can be issued while playing. We are very much looking for feedback with these missions and we are planning to add new types of tasks in next several weeks. (Ex: rescue and evacuation, infiltration, covert action, etc). Also we want to add one or two new types of scenarios for sandbox missions - for example counter-insurgency scenario and attack scenario. But that depends on your feedback and on how it aligns with our release plans (we are not currently planning to add all of our sandbox singleplayer content before release)
- Training flight mode added - You can try out helicopters from the Hangar tab, and the squadron tab, without joining a battle. The Minimap will show you the location of the shooting range. This ranges has some targets, and is a “free fire” area.
- The Ka-226 russian light multirole helicopter has been added, and has been placed in recon the role at tier 4. This helicopter does not have any armament outside artillery aim, however, it does have door gunners which work only when there are at least 2 soldiers on board
- The HH-53 US heavy transport has been added to tiers 2, 3, and 4. The HH-53 Does not have any armament besides door gunners, which come in 2 armament variants - miniguns and .50 cal’s
- The ACH-47 has been made into a gunship. The “Guns A Go Go” version of the helicopter is intended to clear and secure Landing Zones, the amount of troopers inside has been lowered to 10 men and 2 additional door gunners have been added.
- The AH-1J has been moved to generation 3, squadron prices have changed for this helicopter
- Squadron prices slightly (no big changes) adjusted for 10-15 helicopter variants (mostly intermediate variants to make them more useful)
- Several flight parameters have been changed or updated, this mostly affects light helicopters, making them more agile and responsive.
- The 20mm gun on H-34, ACH-47, IAR 330L and UH-1Y split into the M24 and GIAT M621 variants, each with different characteristics.
- The NS-23KM (Mi-2 gun) has been given better explosive rounds.
- All 30mm and 20mm explosive rounds have had their area of effect slightly rescaled to make more sense.
- The GSH-2-30K has been given a burst cooldown if more than 50 rounds are fired repeatedly.
- Look Around (right mouse button by default) mechanics have changed.When pressing the look around mode button (default right mouse button) the players helicopter no longer maintains the last ordered course. Instead, the helicopter will maintain a course that will be between current and last ordered course. Practically this means that to circle around some positions, you now simply need to press Look Around for a few moments every several seconds. This was done to improve circling abilities and door gunner handling
- You can now make the Look Around function work as a toggle, rather then “while button is pressed”, go to Settings - General - Look Around Toggle
- When door gunners are selected they switch to manual control mode automatically (you can switch them back to Auto with Change mode button, F by default), when deselected they switch back to to auto control mode.
- All Air-to-Air missile blast damage (manpad included) now goes from 100% in center to 50% on the edge (before that it was 0% on the edge). This means that bigger helicopters will take as much damage as smaller helicopters
- The R-60 and AIM-9 missiles have had their aiming time increased by 50%
- Fixed a bug when your own ATGM or heat seeker missile could hit you on launch, also ATGMs and heat seeker missiles now start with current helicopter speed.
- AA missile locking time now include additional time for helicopter sizes (the smaller your helicopter is - the longer it takes to lock onto it) and additional time if the target is flying close to the ground. The closer the target is to the ground - the longer it takes to lock on, this starts from 45 meters of radar indicated height above the ground.

This experimental mode requires capturing Landing Zones to 100% and reinforcing the LZ with vehicles before it can spawn attack convoys. 100% captured and reinforced LZ’s now spawn attack convoys faster than in the normal frontlines mode and also provide repair and resupply to any helicopter landed in the LZ’s area of influence.
Notes
- RPG soldier cost is down to 5 points
- MANPAD cost is up to 15 points
- MANPAD soldiers are now able to launch 3 missiles, up from 2
- All MANPAD-launched missiles now have a misfire chance of 40% on
- Generation 1, 30% on Generation 2, 20% on Generation 3, 10% on Generation 4
- All air launched IR missiles now have similar misfire chance of 20%/15%/10%/5% per Generation 1/2/3/4
- IRCM miss chances are increased to 60% for missiles on distances greater then 250 meters and 82% on 250 meters and less
- Several changes to helicopter costs for squadrons have been made. The top armament variant costs are the same, baring the AH-1J Sidewinder variant - its cost has been increased. Most of the changes have been made to intermediate variants so they better represent actual armament and allow for more options when choosing non-top tier helicopters for your squadrons.
- Hovering over your rank in top-left corner of main menu now shows your progress to next rank.
- Awards tab in Career now shows all possible awards, not only ones you have at the moment
- Several award criterias have been adjusted so they are easier to get. Mostly the awards that have seen no player earn, despite being designed for players to earn regularly.
- Points received for air kills are now related to the weapon type used: guns award the most points, rockets award less, and missiles (both ATGM and IR) award the least of all weapon systems.
- Awards given for air to air kills (the Air combat master series) now give additional points upon being earned. As normal, the points for the awards themselves assist with rank progression.
- Awards for air kills now require more kills (15 20 30)
- All officer rank requirements have been increased by 30%.
- Several helicopter’s landing collider modules have been fixed to prevent sudden explosion upon landing.
- Modern high-caliber rockets (130mm S-13 and 127mm Zuni) damage output has been increased. Now they can destroy light armored vehicle with one direct hit
- “V-sync for hangar” option has been added to Graphic settings
- Several helicopter’s flight parameters have been adjusted (Mi-2 and Ka-25 made slightly more agile, AH-1Z loses more altitude when in a dive)
- Spotting targets with recon helicopter now marks them for 50 seconds
Pilots, just a note for you!
Sometimes we will push "non priority" or "Stealth" patches out the door. These patches will very rarely have patch notes posted, and are intended to either hotfix issues, or introduce new content for contests and the like. However, in the interest of transparency, I thought it best to let everyone know our process on this.
If a patch is only a few fixes, or adds some small piece of content like the patches for our most recent contenst, chances are good that it wont be announced.
Only patches that require server restarts and add a large ammount of fixes and content will be announced.

Greetings pilots! Here are the rules for the "Gilded" Contest. This contest is something that we're wanting to get out the door for you as a celebration for version 0.47 "Foundations."
1. Collect 2, 4, or 6+ different awards (ribbons, medals, orders — anything; several pieces of the same award do not count) to get one of three unique patches before 23:59 GMT of next Tuesday, May 2.
2. Make a screenshot of your Heliborne profile (see the example).
3. Publish the screenshot in comments to https://www.facebook.com/HeliborneGame/posts/1245115848891656 (or VK group, for Russian-speaking players).
4. Share the post to friends.
What you may do to get awards:
- capture Landing Zones
- clear enemy LZ and recapture them
- shoot down helicopters
- shoot down helicopters with your ground troops (basically, capture points or deploy MANPADs and hope they will shoot down enemy helos)
- shoot down helicopters with your door gunners
- destroy enemy armored convoys (and repair your helicopter when it’s heavily damaged, the more you return to the base the better)
- deploy soldiers with RPG to destroy enemy convoys
- destroy enemy AA guns
- eliminate enemy soldiers
- protect LZs from enemy armored convoys
- destroy armored vehicles with ATGM
- spot enemy soldiers on reconnaissance helicopter and make them be eliminated (by yourself or your teammates
Here are the patches you can win! These are one off!
Greetings pilots! Just a quick update here for you regarding 0.47.1. We noticed a few issues in 0.47 and as such we're putting out this quick fix to change a few things. Notes are below,
- AA positions and AA vehicle damage output has been nerfed: they are less precise than in 0.47 version and take more time to aim But still are much better than in 0.46.1 version
- MANPAD operational procedure changed: their range changed from 600 meters distance to 400m min and 1200m max distance, but targeting on distances bigger than 400m now depends on both helicopter actual altitude above the ground and helicopter size. So if you don't want MANPAD’s to shoot at you from longer distances stay closer to the ground.
- MANPAD blind by IRCM lowered from 10 to 7 seconds
- Helicopter spotting profiles have been slightly decreased for all helicopters. (that means if you fly low you can get closer to the AA before they spot you)
- Helicopter spotting profile is now increased if helicopter is static for several seconds - so you’ll be spotted from longer distances if you are hovering are greater altitudes.
- Convoy spawn logic slightly adjusted - when multiple landing zones attack another zone they won't produce multiple convoys to attack, only one after another
- Rank requirements for officer ranks (ensign and upwards) slightly adjusted, they cost more than previous.
- Test medal image changed
- Negative rewards introduced. Do not kill friendly units, you’ll get negative rewards and will be banned from game room if you are doing it a lot.
- Reward for capturing Landing Zone now depends on amount of players in the battle, the more the players present the larger the reward.
Pilots,
Just a quick note that we are aware that AAA emplacements and vehicles are far to powerful in the current build. We will be putting out a small fix patch tomorrow, version 0.47.1 that will address this and slightly lower the damage and accuracy of AI AA vehicles and guns.

Greetings Pilots! It's been a while, and I do apologize for that, but we think it will have been worth the wait. With this update, we finally have the foundations in place for the sprint to release. With a new awards system, the backbone for future SP and CO-OP content, major backend changes and code updates, a lot of fixes and more.
Server Changes
Pilots, just a quick note that Heliborne is operating using a new Data Layer with this update. Unfortunately this has also caused several issues with some of our Azure based servers. What this means, is that we are prepairing a new server pack for you to play on, that should help with performance and connection issues. However, there's one major change here, and that revolves around us having to shut down our current SEA server as we look for a better alternative for our SEA players. We're hoping the new data layer and updates to the server backend will give our SEA players a good experience on the EU and US servers until we can get a replacement SEA server operational. Again, this is not a permanent change. We apologize for the inconvenience. -Rayne

*The MD-500 has been added to the vehicle lineup. This Helicopter has been placed at Tiers 2 and 3.
New Features
- Personal player profiles have been added. These profiles are shown upon player kill, as well as in the new Career tab. - Rewards for effective actions in combat have been added. There are a total of 28 awards in this update. - Rank progression has been added and is based on rewards gained. - Player awards can be placed in a player's profile. - The first batch of steam cosmetic items has been added, this includes a few helmets and patches. - Helmets can be shown in a player's profile. - Cosmetic items are awarded at the end of the match.
Bug Fixes and Changes
- Added keybind to trigger gun reload manually - A special sound when gun reload is finished has been added - Fixed a crucial bug in gun reloading, encounters with enemy guns may become deadlier with this patch - Fixed precision bug in stationary and moving ground AA guns - they should become much more accurate now. - Ground AA time before maximum precision is increased and damage output is lowered - to compensate giant increase in AA gun precision - "enemy lock" has been added, a locked enemy is marked with ">" "<" symbols and his nickname is always shown, a lock looks like this - "> enemy name <" - Enemy lock is done automatically when targetting enemy in sight - Keybind to trigger a manual enemy lock has been added and is toggleable (by default - E, works only in flight) - Locking on an enemy now assists with gun shooting - this is nothing heavy, just a small aim assist that help with adjusting aim distance to that enemy - it should be easier to shoot at locked enemies than an enemy without lock. - All ATGM's angle speed is decreased - ATGM additional vision distance is now slightly smaller - Taking hits while in ATGM aiming mode now "shakes" helicopter - Mortar team ammo increased to 30 rounds - Recon helicopter "spot" ability is now shown in the UI - "spot" ability now spots targets for longer period of time - "spot" ability now informs all friendlies on the map - "spot" ability now puts spotted enemy soldiers on the minimap for a 30 minute period (this allows recon helicopters to "paint" enemy manpad positions for friendlies, for example) - The Recon helicopter's detect ability has had its range increased in distance - Flares now blind manpads for a short period of time (~10 seconds) - RPG soldiers now have 4 rocket launches - RPG soldiers now shoot at enemy helicopters inside a larger range zone (~220m) and have had their accuracy increased - Door gunners default operation mode is now set to AUTO - Camera zoom is now saved between game sessions - All spawn positions now have a defensive "force field" around them, approximately 300 meters in radius, you are safe from enemy damage inside these areas. - Several small fixes in armament option text layout - Updated camera for advanced control scheme - Snap look left / look right actions for advanced control scheme - Looking around in advanced control scheme is now possible with mouse - AH-1Z and AH-1S turret gun damage output is increased - All agile helicopters have had their roll increased during high speed turns - Filters for nations and generations added on Hangar and Squadrons screens - Fixed squad price calculation problem when changing current squad generation - Fixed water visuals on khost map - Mortar unit maximum accuracy increased by 30%
Pilots, just a small update to let you know that we are almost finshed with patch 0.46.3, which will lay the ground work for a lot of the primary features and changes we've been dicussing via our live streams, and other locations. Controls
-Support for all major gamepads has been added. This includes PS4, XBOX One and Steam Gamepads. Settings can be changed via new settings tab. -Support for Joysticks and HOTAS set ups has been added. Kebybinding and calibration settings can be accessed via a new settings tab. Pilots, please keep in mind this is a first pass for these new controls and there may be issues. Also, default keybinds may be wrong. Please give us feedback. Please note that custom settings will be discarded and you will need to setup your own custom controls again. -Added new control scheme. There is now a simple and advanced mode.
UI
-Control UI has been reworked. -Settings UI while in the hangar has been reworked. -A slider to control hangar music has been added
Gameplay and Balance
-Added ballistics pass to all weapons. Bullets now loose height and velocity over distance. -Travel distance for larger caliber weapon has been increased. -Several Weapon sounds have been changed -All weapons now have a maximum amount of ammunition as well as a reload timer after all ammunition has been spent. -The 2A42 weapon system is now 9 rounds per second instead of 18. Overall damage output is roughly the same. -GSh-2-30K weapon system is now firing at 30 rounds per second. -Gun aim has been reworked. -"Crosshair Jumping" has been fixed. -Ground vehicles now have front, side, back, and top armor values. Each vehicle has its own independent parameters. Tanks are now very heavily armored compared to IFV's and APC's. -All bullets now have armor penetration values based on caliber. As a result of the above changes, it is now no longer possible to damage a tank with 7.62 or 12.7mm weapon systems. Causing damage from the sides, rear, or top is now possible with larger caliber weapons but the damage will still be reduced due to heavy armor. -AA Gun precision has been slightly increased -Helicopters with optical systems now have a turret "precision mode" - This is toggalable from cockpit view with Keybind "F" by default. -Current weapon is now shown on HUD. -Current and Maximum zoom for cockpit view and ATGM view is now shown on HUD. -Minor changes in flight parameters for almost all helicopters. -Changes in audio volume and sound effects when in cockpit modes.
Heliborne is now 64bit enabled!

Today is Friday the 13th and we decided to celebrate it with minor, but very showy tweak. It’s themed colour scheme for the Tonkin map. Red, of course.
Bloody Tonkin is only available on the test branch. If you want to try it, right click on Heliborne in Steam library, choose Properties, then Betas tab and select ‘test - test branch’ from the list.
Small patch will be downloaded both with Friday the 13th tweak and 64-bit version of the game.
I recommend you to play Bloody Tonkin without interface for more hardcore and spooky feel :) To turn off UI press F9.

Greetings pilots! It's time to discuss the upcoming version update. Heliborne version 0.46, which we're calling "Elevation" as we truly believe we are elevating the game to a new level. Though, this update also provides something of a foundation for future progress and updates as we move forward toward release. This article will go over all the major changes as well as list the preliminary patch notes for you. So, let's get started as usual shall we?
Unity Version 5.5.X
The first big thing of note is our move from Unity 4.X to Unity 5.X. Specifically, we are now on Unity version 5.5.0f3. Your first question no doubt is, "Why does this matter?" The answer to that is simply, it just does. It matters a lot. However the much longer winded explanation follows with the help of Unity's own version 5 website. I'll post a link here: https://unity3d.com/unity/whats-new/unity-5.0 For those not wanting to head to the link, here's Unity's own words for why version 5.0 is better.
- The Physically-based Standard Shader to make your materials look consistent in any lighting environment, cross platform.
- Real-time Global Illumination, built on Geomerics Enlighten technology.
- The Audio Mixer, to massively improve audio in your game.
- HDR Reflection Probes to enhance visual fidelity.
- PhysX 3.3 to bring massive performance improvements to 3D physics.
- Major updates to the animation system.
- WebGL preview.
The new Stuff
A great deal has changed when you log in to the game now. Firstly, we have an entirely new Main Scene and Squadron Construction update for you to enjoy. This means a brand new map built entirely for the main hangar and squadron view scenes. One that you'll be able to fly on soon. We're hoping this version is far more intuitive to use. The hangar scene has been redone as well. Here's a quick look at the preliminary patch notes for Version 0.46,

The Info
First, let me state again, that this is a "WIP" or "Planned" List. Any one of these helos could be made at any time. There is no order, and some helos could be cancled or changed entirely due to licenese issues. However, this is the most exaustive list of the helicopters we have planned and I wanted to share it with you. Right now, I can confirm that the CH-53 is in the final development stages and should be in the game in the coming weeks. We know a lot of you have been begging for this big bird, and she's coming, don't worrry. I don't have any information on Tier (yet) as we're still in the discussion stage on where to place the '53 in the tier list. If you have any questions related to these helos, please keep in mind that nothing is concrete. I hope this satisfies your curiosity for now Pilots. Stay tuned for more! -Rayne
- Gun turrets aiming fixed on several helicopters (Mi-24V, AH-64D), some other weapon minor aiming issues fixed
- Fixed some problems with networking during auto mode of door gunners
- For all door gunners with 7.62mm guns now shoot for 3 seconds and cooldown for 0.5 seconds after that
- Door gunners now dont lose target till 400-500 meters away from it
- Size of helicopter now has effect on ground turret accuracy, the smaller the size the less accurate it is
- Patch and event information panel on login screen changed
- New sounds for fast radio commands (F2-F7 or through radio menu ` be default)
- Further fixes to vehicle stucking problem and vehicle issues
- Tanks on Nguyen map now have exactly the same collider
- Tanks on Nguyen map now have preffered positions when capturing Landing Zones, not random position as before (this is experiment, will be continued to other maps if successful)
- All soldiers are now spotted by vehicles from smaller distance (150m instead of 300m as before)
- RPG soldier is a bit more accurate now
- All IR missiles are faster now, but with lower turnrate
- IR missiles aim now allow for wider lock angle after missile is locked so you are able to launch missile ahead or behind the enemy
- IR missile detonator is made similar to real version - there's not only hit detonator, but also proximity detonator (which will only work on locked targets at the moment, not on all possible targets)
- Flares now effect each missile individually, not together, as before, chance to fool the missile is 50% for longer distances and 75% for shorter
- If a flare spoofs a missile - it will not explode at the flares position as before, but will proceed to fly its course - so you need not only to flare a missile, but also to maneuver out of its way
- Manpads sitting next to each other (closer then 30 meters) will not launch missiles simultaneusly, the now launch with at least 2 second delay
- Improvements to netcode related to packet size and packet frequency, also some changes in lag compensationn
- Some small optimizations

Greetings Pilots! It's been a while since we last updated you with our plans and for that, I apologize. However, I personally think the wait might be worth it as we've a lot planned and a lot that's being worked on. So, let's get started taking a look at the future of Heliborne shall we?
The Current Plan
First, you can expect a small bug fixing patch coming in the next few days. This patch will see some new audio for our quick messages, updates to door gunners and IR missiles and updates to manpads and vehicles. We'll get the patch ntoes out to you guys before the patch goes live as normal.
"Hangar Bay"
First things first, our Hangar UI and UI in general needed some work. We can admit that it wasn't great and so, we rebuilt it from the ground up. We've been teasing this for some time, but today, you're getting the first screenshots of the new UI system in-game and what is coming in the "Hangar Bay" update. First, the newly updated Main Screen, or Squadron View. In this screen you are presented with a view of your entire squadron. As well as the ability to Edit and Delete the current squadron, soldiers in your squadron, the new filter down at the bottomw right hand of the screen, the join battle button and lastly your new squadron listing down at the bottom of the screen. There will be a video going up before the patch comes out showcasing how this all works, so stay tuned!
Next, the single Helo Hangar scen and UI has been updated as well. In this screen, we've changed how the helos are presented to you and resituated the UI a little to better display information. There will be updates to this in the future.
We'll go over what's coming in the stats tracking section of this update in an upcoming article. So, stay tuned for that!
"Firepower"
The Update after the new UI is tentitavely known as Firepower. In this update we are rebuilding the ballsitics system in the game. This means the ability to have weapon convergence, fire-modes, ballistic drop, etc. As well as updates to targeting of these weapon systems. I'll have more to talk about this in a seperate update as well.
"The Power of Flight"
The Power of Flight update will see a large list of changes to flight dynamics and the flight model. This means things like weight affecting flight, new handling updates, the ability to have new control systems, etc. We hope to be able to showcase this update in testing before the end of the year, so stay tuned for more on this.
"Progress"
Lastly, the Progress update. I can't talk to much about this, but what I can say is that in this update, you'll finally have a reason to play more than a few hours a day. :)

During our live stream on the 15th we will announce the winners. This will be a slightly larger contest than before as we'll be picking a total of Five winners from the pool of screenshots.

Hey pilots! The update 0.45.2 is live!
- added door gunners on helicopters:
Mi-8TV, Mi-8MTV, Mi-8AMTSH, Ka-25, H-21, H-34, UH-1D, UH-1Y, ACH-47, IAR-330L
- door gunners operate in 3 modes: pilot (manual control by default), hold (do not shoot) and auto (automatically shoot at soldiers and AA positions in close proximity to helicopter). To switch between operation modes enable weapon number 7 and use F key to cycle to next mode
- changed mortars behaviour - now they can shoot 5 times in quick succession, then reload for 5-6 second and be able to shoot 5 times again
- changed mortar explosion effect on soldiers and AA positions - explosion range is increased, damage is relative to distance from center of explosion
- changed both mortar and rocket explosion effect on vehicles - you need to hit really close to the vehicle in order to damage it, full effect comes only with direct hit
- added 2 more spectating modes to spectator
- ATGM damage increased
- tank HP on Kosovo map is increased (its the same as tank HP on Nguyen map now, was lower before)
- added info about radio shortcuts to F1 help menu
- decreased time needed for AA to reach maximum accuracy

1. Mortar Troops
- 2 man mortar squad with 20 mines - costs 8 points per squad - can be deployed anywhere on the map - has firing range of 300 - 3000 meters, radio contact range of 5000 meters - has proper mine travel time - do not expect mines to be fast - receives targetting from any recon helicopter with "Mortar Observer" - one recon helicopter can control up to 6 mortar teams at once
2. AA changes
- all AA now significantly more accurate - it tries to predict your flying pattern - the more you are in its sights - the more accurate it becomes, it takes ~20 seconds to reach maximum accuracy - spotting formula introduced: the smaller your helicopter is and the lower you fly - the harder it is for AA to spot you - with the new spotting formula you can sneak around AA positions on lower altitudes, but if you are flying high - it will spot you much earlier - it has morale now - shooting at AA now makes it shoot less accurate and less frequently
3. Special soldiers
- now you can direct your special soldiers upon landing, just point where you want them to run, before deploying them - directed deployment radius is 50 meters - MANPAD's behaviour changed: from now they will include spottinng formula in target search, they wont shoot at you on sight, but wait small amount of time till you move closer to them - MANPAD missile speed increased - MANPAD targetting range increased by 100 meters - you can see your soldiers positions on minimap from now on (look for small orange dots)
4. Enemy spotting
- from now on helicopters of different classes will spot enemies on different distances: recon helicopters can spot enemies from further away then attack helicopters and transport helicopters - to spot vehicles or AA positions you need line of sight now - recon helicopters are able to share spotted targets with their team using radio spotted message - binded to 'V' by default
5. Radio messages
- added 7 basic radio messages - you can send them via F2-F8 shortcuts - or via '`' menu and 1-7 afterwards
6. Spectator mode
- you can choose to spectate your teammates when you lost or changing your helicopter
7. Other changes
- decreased price of first Ka-52 variant and increased price of second and third variant - friendly helicopters marked by type above them in combat, triangle is recon, rombus is attack and square is transport - changed several ammo hit effects - changed armor hit effect for most higher-caliber guns - added ricochet effect for all bullets - some visual fixes on Nguyen map

Heliborne offers a new type of "Zone" Capture as one of it's core game-play concepts. Troops carried by certain helicopters must be landed at, and deployed to a landing zone. These troops fortify the zone, and in some game modes, defend a base until ground re-enforcements arrive.
Current Features
- Updated simul-lite/arcade hybrid flight model that models over 70 different aspects of flight per helicopter.
Our Flight model melds the best of both worlds, and while being updated regularly, is in a state that we are very happy with. This includes momentum and inertia dynamics. This system will be expanded on with more realistic flight dynamics as the project grows. - 41 Helicopter, Each with multiple weapons load-outs
The load-outs for each of our helicopters is based entirely on weapons systems that they would have, or did employ in active combat theaters and operations. You wont see a weapons loadout on our helicopters that is not historically accurate. - 4 Major Mission Maps - Including Operation Nguyen Hue, Afghanistan, the Gulf of Tonkin in Vietnam, and Kosovo
All of our maps are "based" on historical conflicts and conflict locations. - 2 Principle Game modes - Including standard skirmish, and Frontline mode that's currently exclusive to Operation Nguyen Hue
Skirmish mode is currently active on Afghanistan and Gulf of Tonkin and offers standard capture the flag gameplay. Operation Nguyen Hue offers the first glimpse at "Frontline" mode. As bases are captured by players, ground vehicles spawn in convoys and move across the map to fortify bases and positions. - Multiple AI controlled ground units in skirmish and Front-line mode
Tanks, Troop Carriers, and Anti-Aircraft Artillery vehicles make up the current roster of ground vehicles in Heliborne, more are planned. - Airborne Troops that can be deployed anywhere on the mapMANPADS or "Man-Portable Air Defense system" are just some of the "deploy-able" ground units that players can place anywhere, on any map. Not all helicopters carry these soldiers. Those that can, add a new level to the dynamic battlefield.

Scout Helicopters are small, fast, and may or may not carry a small amount of soldiers. Attack Helicopters carry no troops and are dedicated to air-to-air or air-to-ground operations.
